5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Video
My four year old has learned a lot from this video. If your child likes Disney characters then this is a must buy. Yes, it
is shorter than a movie. But my son likes me to watch it with him and we sing and dance to each song. I'm glad it's not a 2 hour movie! He sees the words across the screen and is learning new words that way. Xmas is over but we watch it everyday.

2-0 out of 5 stars this isn't even the movies
this video is a exellent overview of disney's musical talents featuring x-mas, this isn't even the movies and it is dreadful This video is short and not really fufilling in any way I suggest that the full movies should be bought and forget this made up stuff ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars No More Kings-An fun and educational video
Jason Goode
Period 4
11/4/02

It was one of the most significant events in American History when the Americans revolutionized against the British. The Schoolhouse Rock version of this event, entitled "No More Kings", is very entertaining and educational for children between the ages of seven and ten. It was appropriate and fun for the following reasons. Firstly, the creators simplified the events, therefore making it easier for children to comprehend. Secondly, it is illustrated with humorous cartoons, so that it is fun to watch and listen to. In addition, it is simply is educational, and will give kids a jump start on American History. Lastly, since the song is shown on television, the events in history, such as the Boston Tea Party were drawn out. Visuals always help young children remember things. As parents or teachers can tell, "No More Kings" is a great way to get kids or students to learn our country's history while having fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Homeschooling mother of five
Well, i am here to say this is a fabulous tool! I watched all of these as a child and have shared them with my children. For those of you with the less than 5 star reviews let me say...This is not meant to be an exhaustive history lesson! It is a great way to introduce children to the history of our country. Something that, in my experience, schools made very boring. My children love history. If you find it not as accurate then be the one to take the next step and research it with your kids. I would agree it is geared toward younger kids but not that older kids would find it "stupid" at all! These reviews were pretty harsh. Also, the pilgrims DID plant food. Yes, the indians taught them everything and saved them but i wouldn't call that an inaccuracy. The movie just didn't get that deep into it. Come on now it is only a half hour! I highly recommend this to children of all ages. It opens the door to questions and conversations about our country that may not be raised otherwise. The music is very catchy and stays with you. It is plain and simple fun while being educational at the same time. Don't let the negative reviews sway you. This is a great video series and I highly recommend it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Schoolhouse Rock! teachers U.S. history and government
All right, boys and girls, here is a little ditty that has got to jog your memory:

I'm just a bill,
Yes, I'm only a bill,
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it's a long, long journey
To the capital city,
It's a long, long wait
While I'm sitting in committee,
But I know I'll be a law someday...
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I'm still just a bill.

"Schoolhouse Rock! America Rock" collects the mini-cartoons ABC aired on the television in the mid-1970s and taught a generation of children about government and history (as well as grammar, science, and math in other rock counterparts). The ten America rocks are done in pretty much chronological order, with "No More Kings," "Fireworks" and "The Shot Heard 'Round the World" covering the founding of America, the Declaration of Independence, and the start of the American Revolution. I would be willing to bet that most of the kids in this country who can recite the Preamble to the Constitution learned it from "The Preamble" (or the "Star Trek" episode "The Omega Glory"). "Elbow Room" covers America going West while "The Great American Melting Pot" celebrates American diversity. Great American inventors get their due in "Mother Necessity" and "Sufferin' till Suffrage" covers women getting the right to vote. But the most popular one here has got to be "I'm Just a Bill," which explains how a bill comes a law in terms so simple that even a first term Congressman could understand it. "Three-Ring Government" explains the separation of powers between the three branches, and then there is also a bonus video of the Lemonheads doing "My Hero Zero."

Granted, American History might not lend itself to 3-minute lessons as well as basic principles of grammar or mathematics, but these are still so much fun. Too bad there were not more of these (how would Schoolhouse Rock! have explained the Civil War or the Great Depression?), because they are just a lot of fun and then do a great job of driving a few essential points home in each lesson. "America Rock" is just the hook. It is up to history teachers and parents to provide the line. Even for more advanced students teachers can get some mileage out of these by showing them to students and either getting them to critique these (what inventors should be added?) or to be creative and write the script for their own (e.g., "Andy Jackson says no thanks to the National Bank!").

5-0 out of 5 stars This is awesome dude

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool and fast-paced!
This is a really cool video. I think the raccoon, Thief (pronounced Thyfe), is really cool too.In the first segment, misfortune came to Timon and Pumbaa. The items from their luggage were stolen and they had to report the bad news to the police. But until the police found Thief, they refused to look for him or the supplies. Somehow Timon and Pumbaa did something to the planet to get the items back to their luggage. And once again, the police arrested Thief. In the second segment, Timon and Pumbaa made somewhat related new bestest best friends (but not for long at all) named Monti and Bampuu (I learned to spell these names when I watched this video with closed captions). Later on, they disliked them.In the final segment, Rafiki decided Timon and Pumbaa are separate all because the chunk of big bluish black thing fell from the sky. Timon and Pumbaa managed to get it back to the sky with their strength.Since Thief is the coolest of all them characters, I think all children should see this video. When I rented this back in the summer of '98, I thought it was going to be great and I was right. These segments can also be seen separately on the Timon and Pumbaa show itself. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Both entertaining and educational simultaneously
This video is good for anyone who wants to obey the law, not pretend to be someone else, or learn to be specific about their wishes. In segment #1, when Timon touched the "Forbidden Stick," the police ran after him and faster than you can say Mulan, Timon hid under a tree stump so the police couldn't track him down. When Pumbaa spoke to the police about Timon, they could tell Timon was really in the stump. When they found out, Timon nervously pleaded innocent and they took him to a somewhat strict rhinoceros disguised as a Judge, who liked to make up new laws. This "Judge" subjected Timon to a series of harming tests, like "The Snake Pit of Virtue" and "The Really Warm Coals of Truth." The last test was the written test. The first question was "Who was the thirty-seventh pres. of the USA," and Timon answered "Arnold Schwartzeneger," which we Americans know is not a president. The 37th president is really Richard Nixon. Finally, Timon and Pumbaa had learned their lesson of obeying the law and moved on to another adventure. In segment #2, Pumbaa realized he would be more happy being himself than a fake elephant. In segment #3, a wish-granting whale made friends with Timon and Pumbaa even though he was not a real whale.I gave this video five stars ... 5-0 out of 5 stars "Doug : Christmas Story"
This is perhaps the best Christmas story that i've ever had the pleasure of seeing. I've always loved "Nickelodeon's Doug" and "Disney's Doug" as well. I could watch " Doug : Christmas Story" over and over again. In fact, i've probally already seen this particular episode atleast 5 times this month, and about 3 more times to come!

1-0 out of 5 stars Boring
This movie is boring and if you want to get it for some young reletive/family member they would enjoy it. However sooner or later they would hate it. Get a movie that anyone would enjoy of any age. Maybe movies such as the Little Mermaid, Shrek, Toy story 1 and/or 2. Im 16 years old and movies that I enjoy that I liked to watch areany diysny movies My all time favorite is Dysneys Robin Hood. But And Nickolodien movie would uninterest any one in years to come.

The relationship between Doug and his dog, Porchop is wonderful. This story tell us that reliance is very important. I watched this story with my 4-year-old son at home and he told me "Mom, what is that? My chest seems to have something warm!!" We're Japanese and he speaks only Japanese, but he seemed to feel something without understanding English words. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful feeling!! We'd like to watch more DOUG's movies!! (We're very sorry we can't get DOUG's movies in Japan.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Aladdin and Jasmine forever
Moonlight Magic is a great video, one because the selection of shows on this video is a very sweet one, and two because Aladdin and Jasmine are the perfect couple. Moonlight Magic has two romantic episodes of the series "Aladdin" However, they do deal with Magic, obviously from the title, and curses. Description

Holie Molie, it's Rolie Polie Olie, every preschooler's favorite robot pal in a video that's full of fun! Three delightful animated adventures feature Olie and a cast of lovable characters as they laugh, play, and learn valuable lessons about how everyone is special in their own way. First, when Olie fibs about eating his vegetables, he discovers that even a little lie can grow into big trouble! Next, Olie brings home a note from his teacher and tries to hide it from Mom and Dad. Finally, when he forgets to wear his helmet while skateboarding, Olie discovers that it's much better to 'fess up when you mess up. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tons of Fun!!
My 2 1/2 year old adores Olie. He knows all the characters like they are his friends, which we don't mind as its a great show. This tape deals with telling the truth. Although our son is a bit young for the concept, he gets bits from it. It is very cute and I would recommend it to teach honesty and communication between parents and children. We own every olie tape. This one is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars great lesson for kids
this video teaches kids not to lie and the outcome if you do....my son loves rolie polie olie....there bright and colorful and have interesting characters who all have their own personality....it's great fun and good lessons to teach your children....A must have...any olie video!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another top notch Rolie Poile film!
These just keep getting better and better! I like Round Pal Square Friend better, but this one is great too. In it, Rolie does not eat his brussel sprouts and tells his mom he did. He thinks about how a little lie can grow and grow out of control. It's a good lesson. In the next story Olie hides a note from his teacher thinking it is bad. He tries to be extra good. Then he gives the note to his parents and it was all good. He wishes he gave them the note earlier so he did not have to cover it up. They said whatever it was they would understand. A goos lesson about being open and honest to your parents. Finally the last story is about not wearing his helmet during skating. These videos are my 21-month-olds current favorites by far! Next is The Book of Pooh. Highly recommended for anyone under 3. ... Read more

Rolie Polie Olie, winner of the 2000 Emmy Award for outstanding special class animated program, presents a trio of episodes--one of which is perfect for Valentine's Day. In "Happy HeartsDay," Olie and Billy turn up their noses at Zowie's extensive preparations for "Gooey Hearts Day." When Mrs. Polie sets up a play date with the new neighbor girl, Polie Pi, the boys are initially begrudging. A quick bite by the "looove bug" soon has the boys competing with one another and showing off to impress Polie Pi, but this results in Polie Pi feeling sad and left out. "Top Dog Fish" finds Olie and Zowie enamored with the class fish they're caring for over the weekend and has pet dog Spot desperately begging for attention. In "Mom's Night Out," Mrs. Polie is off for a few sets of bowling while Pappy and the kids have a barbeque in the back yard. After promising not to leave a mess, the trio decides to make a 17-layer cake that leaves the kitchen in a shambles. Thank heavens for quick cleanup! This video is 28 minutes of Rolie Polie Olie fun. 5-0 out of 5 stars Another great Olie video!
Bright and colorful computer animated tales of a young boy and his family and friends....and Pollie Pie!! She is so adorable....my son giggles when she comes on the screen!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absoloutly love it!!!!
I can't express how wonderful the rollie pollie movies are. We have all but two and they are life savers for me. I am not the type to plunk my infant in front of the t.v. but if I need a breake I can count on rollie. My son is only 5 months old now but I discovered that he liked the show when he was only 2 or 3 months old. I needed a chance to do some house work and I put disney on and placed him in his swing rollie came on and he was so ammused with it. I have never seen an Infant that young watch something so intently. I don't know if it is the bright colors or Zoie's voice. Back then he would usually fall asleep durring the show, but now he hears the song and all movement stops and he looks at the t.v. So for x-mas I asked that my family get these movies so if I need a break durring the day I can put one of them in. You might think that any movie would hold his attention at his age but you're wrong I have tried and rollie is the only one that really holds his attention.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hooray for Olie!
My child LOVES Rolie Polie Olie! We watch this video at least once a day. The stories on this one are light and funny (as always). My 2-year-old laughs at the jokes, gets sad along with Spot, and has started saying "later tater". All in all this is one I don't mind watching over and over. Bring on more of these videos!

4-0 out of 5 stars Delightful
A delightful look at Olie and his family - good stories for my almost 4 year old and interesting colors/actions for my toddler. Only problem is its too short (24 mins)!

4-0 out of 5 stars Just The Begining

5-0 out of 5 stars It is the best!
My son Alston and I watch this video year round. I was reading the other reviews and people were talking about getting this video out every Halloween. Well, I dont have to get it out because it is always out. We have really enjoyed watching Happy Haunting (year round). Thanks for such a wonderful movie but I also wish it was on DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney's Sing Along Songs: Happy Haunting - Party at Disneyl
This video is AWESOME! It started as a rental from the library that we kept renewing over and over and over again until I felt guilty enough of depriving other children for 2 years that I bought one of our own! I think this is actually the 3rd or 4th Halloween we've gotten this out! My 5 yo STILL LOVES it, my 1 1/2 yo loves it too! (she even bopped to it last year in her bouncy seat). I cant say enough about this video it is wonderful and fun! I wish it was available on DVD since I'm afraid my tape will wear out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
My daughter is three and she has watched this with her friends about a hundred times this week! She especially loved the pumpkin song...lots of songs, and she didn't think it was scary at all...the best halloween video for 3+ ever! I can see how a two year old may be frightened, but it really is cute.

2-0 out of 5 stars Creepy
What can I say about this video? Well, I love Halloween, but this video is just bizarre. It contains around a dozen little music videos of Halloween or otherwise scary songs. The Disney characters are there, along with a bunch of kids, at a Halloween Party. One song is about a soup made out of various body parts of reptiles and other creatures. Another song, "Grim Grinning Ghosts," shows old Disney animation (which is scary in itself!) of skeletons and ghosts. Yet another song is all about the Headless Horseman of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Fame." This video is for kids? To be honest, I know several kids that are oddly fascinated by the contents of this video. But when you're looking for a video for your kids, I think you should choose one you all can watch together. I think very few adults will enjoy this. And kids might even be scared (it depends on the kids though, I guess). It's not all bad, though, there are a few "nice" songs and some cute dialogue. However, I'd recommend another Disney sing-a-long video. "Try Beach Party at Disneyworld" or "Sing-a-long at Disneyland".

5-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining!!
My 2 1/2 year old loves this movies. However, it may be a little too scary for some children this age. She loves to dance to the really unique songs. My daughter loves Barney, Teletubbies and Comfy Couch, but right now this is her favorite video. ... Read more
