5-0 out of 5 stars A Schoolhouse Rock Testimonial
When I was in third grade I never could get my times tables down pat- the sevens and twelves proved especially tricky. So my mom checked out this video from the library, and that changed immediately. I could rattle off my multiplication tables as fast as everybody else after watching this only a few times. Amazing! That same year I got put in advanced math. Coincidence? I think not! All the songs were just so catchy. I loved it when I saw the NIKE commercial playing "Three is the Magic Number", that's one of my favorites. Anyways, parents, this is a great buy for your kids and I doubt that you'll get tired of the tunes.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best instructional videos in the world!!!
I remember watching this on television when I was a child and learning my multiplication tables. When I found it was available publically, I immediately purchased it for my son who is now 11. He remembers his the same way I remembered mine -- by singing the songs!!! I would recommend all of the Schoolhouse Rock videos for anyone who has children, because it's never to early to learn. By the way, the only way I can remember the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States is to sing the song from America Rock!

5-0 out of 5 stars This has 2 much excitement
you tired of learning multipliplacation by talking and no videos?Well,those days are over because of Schoolhouse Rock!-Multiplication Rock (1973).This is more fun then just having to talk about multiplication and not understanding it.It has songs,too.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT
EXCELLENT TAPE. REALLY HELPED MY NIECE WITH HER MULTIPLICATION. EXCELLENT TAPE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Schoolhouse Rocks!
I am a teacher of 13 years. Many people know that there are 5 specific learning styles and these tapes address many of these styles through innovation and repetition! Catchy songs have seen many of my classes singing to themselves and gaining confidence on tests and test scores! I cannot speak any higher of the series! GET IT!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You aint never had a video like this.
I remember renting this video when i was in 1st grade and i enjoyed it very much back then,i do not own anymore disney sing along videos as some of them broke or they were gaven away and there where 2 strange things about this video.

1.A non standered musical score was used during the title presintation and not the theme song.

2.After the theme song there was no intro with professer owl saying "And now here's our friend, Jiminy Cricket"after the theme we see Jiminy right away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun
My grandma got me this video when I was only three years old. But now I gave this video away to someone who could use It. I was too old for this video. My grandma says I used to love this video.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun...fun...fun...
We have all the "Disney's Sing Along Songs" videos but my daughters love this particular video the most. I honestly enjoy it very much myself. I also like the theme of the video, which is friendship and getting along. It is really a lot of fun to watch...and sing along. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Science Rock videos from Schoolhouse Rock!
Interplanet Janet
She's a galaxy girl
A solar system miss
From a future world.
She travels like a rocket
With her comet team,
And there's never been a planet Janet hasn't seen.
No, there's never been a planet Janet hasn't seen.

Yes, the 1970s gave us Watergate and long lines to buy gas, but there was also the bicentennial, "Jaws" and "Schoolhouse Rock!" Who does not have fond memories of those 3-minute cartoons that aired on ABC television on Saturday mornings teaching a generation of children about history, government, math, grammar, and science? What kid does not know that a noun is a person, place, or thing or cannot explain how a bill becomes a law? (I am shocked that "I'm Just a Bill" is only #2 on the list of most popular Schoolhouse Rocks! behind "Conjunction Junction"). As you can tell, "interplanetary Janet" (#8), with its tour of the solar system, is my favorite Science Rock, although I guess it is not too shocking that "Electricity, Electricity" (#5) ranks higher. For the record, here the complete list of Science Rocks:

"Body Machine" which needs things like chicken salad sandwiches as fuel;
"Circulation," the big new craze as everybody is doing the circulation;
"Electricity, Electricity" on the use of electrical power;
"Energy" or more accurately Energy Conservation;
"Interplanet Janet" and a tour of the Solar System;
"Telegraph Line" all about the Nervous System;
"Them Not-So-Dry Bones" without which you would be just a blob;
"Victim of Gravity" sung by the Tokens; and
"Weather" the greatest show on Earth!

Science teachers around the U.S. can still use these wonderful little "rock videos" to both introduce key topics and to provide a bit of musical reinforcement. I know that music is still being used in schools to help students learn material (my daughter can sing a song with all the state capitals and there is a woman at work who can do all the nations of the world) and that was the guiding principle behind "Schoolhouse Rock." The series was created by an advertising executive who noticed his song was having trouble with memorizing multiplication tables but knew all the words to the latest rock songs. Faster than you can say, "you got chocolate in my peanut butter" he put the two together and the rest is not just history, but science, math, grammar and government.

You can pick up individual videos of "Science Rock," "America Rock," "Grammar Rock," and "Multiplication Rock," but be aware that there is also a DVD edition that has ALL of the "Schoolhouse Rock" cartoons and the proverbial much, much more. I might have been too old for "Sesame Street," but I was never too old for "Schoolhouse Rock!"

5-0 out of 5 stars Schoolhouse Rock Rocks my house!
Science Rock is great. It's amazing that in 25 years no one's been able to top it.
I wonder how many high school seniors know as much as a kid who watches these videos about science. I prefer DVD, but whatever.
My kids watch it all the time. I like it too. The songs are fun! The clever rhymes are unforgettable, but unlike some annoying kid's songs, you don't really want to forget these.
I really feel like my kids need to be informed about the Bible too, so I'm overjoyed that they recently made a CD and DVD called
Scripture Rock.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly Fun AND Educational
Some of what's on television is harmful to kids (and possibly adults), much of what's on television is neutral, and some of it is quite good. "Schoolhouse Rock" falls into a fourth category: stroke of genius. Catchy tunes, memorable lyrics, and repetitive lessons are blended into memorable little pieces of educational fun that should never have stopped. If you want something on TV while the kids are getting ready for school, or when they're having an after-school snack, this is it. If teachers want quick, fun ways to introduce concepts, this is it. Television doesn't get better than this for kids.

4-0 out of 5 stars remember these?
These were all short animation shows that taught a whole generation of kids how to read, write, and do math while watching Saturday mourning cartoons. I'm glad they are being collected on video now.

Hello, sorry I haven't seen this video but it was strongly recommended to me by someone on the semantic pragmatic disorder message board (her son and mine both have this disorder) unfortunately we live in England and the videos are U.S.A. and Canada friendly only. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Small Children
I have had this video for several years now. Both my kids watched it constantly up until about the age of 4. After that the interest seemed to disappear. Other small children that visit my house seem to love this video too. It always seemed to be difficult to keep them out of trouble without having to constantly watch them at that age and this video is a good way to get a half hour break!

Some really good Christmas songs are included!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sing Along Songs - The Twelve Days of Christmas
My girls love this video as well as all the Disney Sing Alongs (we own ALL of them). They tend to prefer these with the actual characters and kids (beach party, disneyland fun, campout, circus 101 dalmations) than the cartoons - but still love them all! Really Christmassy - This and the Halloween party one are their favorites!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Kidvid...
....I should know, my bambino plays the heck outta Disney's Sing-Alongs. This is one of the best, but all are good. This has "Honor to Us All" and good guy Donnie Osmond voicing in "(How Could I) Make a Man of you" from Mulan, "Zero to Hero" from Hercules (with dynamite vocalists Tawatha Agee and Roz Ryan in a soul gospel quintet--ya gotta see it), the great Peggy Lee's "Siamese Song", Jason Alexander as a singing stone gargoyle from Hunchback, heck, even Eddie Murphey sings a line-- it has great splashes of excellent color, A-one animation, fabuloso sound and a Dolly Parton canine look alike on the highway to Nashville. It's great fun for kids and their parents.

5-0 out of 5 stars i can't belive more people 30+ haven't written in a review!
Oh gosh I have memories of this on saturday morning cartoons!
I bought this used on amazon for my daughter who is learning disabled and in 5th grade in a homeschool program with me this year. It helped her grasp the basics in a way she couldnt' seem to grasp any other way. It also sparked her intrest, and I am here to order the money one today. This Tape is very very visual, and really really blissful to own if youre from my age group (30+) becasue of the tune "I am just a BILL" we were all so fond of then, and to be able to share that with my child is great! By the way until I bought this, I didn't undertsand the depth of skill and talent with which these are made, and they really deserve awards even now so many years later.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why I can recite the Preamble!
This video is the only reason that I was ever able to memorize the Preamble. In American History I had to say it for a grade and it was hard to keep from singing it! Besides that, History Rock has a lot of infectious tunes that never become annoying and are thoroughly educational. "Elbow Room", "I'm Just A Bill", "Mother Necessity" and "Melting Pot" are just a few of the several songs that cover topics like the formation of the colonies, how a bill becomes a law, inventions such as the cotton gin, and the USA's immigrant heritage. This is a must have! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Little Gator in Gainesville, FL didn't care for video
My son is 15 months old and loves the Disney Sing Sing Along videos that feature the children singing. His favorite is Beach Party and I thought he would love the Animal Kingdom video. There is to much time between songs to keep his attention. Also, Flick gives short educational updates that break up the flow of the video. My friend's three year old daughter also found the video boring and I can't even give it away. In addition the quality of the photography involving lighting does not meet Disney's normally high standards. Maybe older kids would like it, but none of the adults that have watched along have cared for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars topsy turvy sing along
Enough can not be said about these wonderful videos! Not only do we own
EVERY Disney Sing Along cartoon video, we own the Holiday ones and the
Character ones as well (Campout etc..). Nothing entertains my 5 yo. and
1 1/2 yo. like these tapes do. The music is good for them, the word
recognition is good for them, they are familiar with many characters now
(which makes going to the park WAY MORE FUN! - they dont have to have
watched every movie to know most characters). Great for little ones with
short attention spans since it changes characters with each song and the
music keeps them hopping! I feel no guilt at all letting them watch
alone while I cook or unload the dishwasher as I gaze over at my two
happy, singing, dancing girls! Best baby sitter in the UNIVERSE! I
also think it will help them when they are older and start to read -
They have been a staple to our VHS collection since my eldest was a
toddler! WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

5-0 out of 5 stars That's What Friends are For
This video is outstanding! Your child will love the songs on it. They will also meet the farm animals; Celeste Cow, Lucinda
chick, Alfred Pig, and Poppycock Rooster. Your child will also meet Old MacDonald and Joanna. I hope to get this video whenever I can to play along with everyone on the farm.

1-0 out of 5 stars Uninspired, dreadful
Maybe I am cynical or jaded, but this video is horrible. It's uninspired, unimaginative, cloying, and very grating. The animal characters speak in jokey, "cartoon-character" voices, the type that grown-ups with no sense of humor think that kids like. Furthermore, the animals' dialog is nearly unintelligible because of the over-exuberant "funny" delivery. I found this video to be just horrid, made with no particular joy or flair.

2-0 out of 5 stars Glad I Paid Just ... For It!
I found this video at a major dept. store on a ... rack last year and decided to give it a chance. My daughter, who was 4 yrs. old, actually got hooked on it for a brief time, which surprised me, because I found it pretty ridiculous and the quality of the material seemed low-budget in every aspect. I had a hard time sitting through it. However, I've paid much more for popular videos that she showed considerably less interest in. I guess you never know what children will find entertaining, as this somewhat strange video proved.

To describe Playhouse Disney's perennial preschool favorite,think Teletubbies meets the Jetsons. This loving, traditionalfamily--Mr. And Mrs. Polie, 6-year-old Olie, sister Zowie, and GrandpaPappy--are hairless beings with antennas, glassy eyes, and noodle arms,set in a fruit-striped, computer-animated household of livingappliances. Okey-dokey? While parents scratch their heads as to whatmakes this program work, preschoolers are enamored with the soothingstorylines, predictable endings, and deliberate pace of the Emmy-awardwinning show. A trio of hardly haunted tales makes up this celebratory24-minute video. If Charlie Brown gets the Great Pumpkin, then Olie candream of the giant orange Spookie Ookie, which he does in "The Legendof Spookie Ookie." In "Oooh Scary," Olie and his pal Billy plan to giveZowie the fright of her life but the shivers come back to haunt them,much to her delight. And in "Zowie Queen of the Pumpkins," thespookie-ookiest day of the year becomes a sweet memory of dancing withspook-o-lanterns when Zowie meets a midnight friend in the pumpkinpatch. 5-0 out of 5 stars Our favorite Olie episode
My son has been in love with Spookie Ookie since he first saw this Halloween episode last fall, when he was about 17 months old. The video gets watched on a regular basis at our house. I like it too. I've seen it probably 20 times, and I'm still not tired of it. Now, if only they would release it on DVD...

5-0 out of 5 stars we love it
Rolie Polie Olie is one of my daughter's favorite shows. I enjoy it too because it is well made, the stories are well told, and, the characters and setting are simply adorable! A Spookie Ookie Halloween is a little on the short side, being the length of the average show, but very entertaining. They are celebrating what looks like Halloween but it is differnt than most Halloween shows as there is not an emphasis on candy. I am basically dumbfounded by the reviewers who said this movie is so scary. This is ridiculous. My daughter who is to loves it. I recommend this to anyone who isn't an over sensitive nutcase. Seriously, enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars we love Rolie Polie Olies

4-0 out of 5 stars My nephew likes it
My 2 year old nephew likes it, and that's all that really counts. I was disappointed, however, that since this was a LION KING sing along, they only had 2 songs from the lion king on it- Circle of Life and Can't wait to be king. Hakuna Matata SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON HERE. I am disappointed because it's not on there. Other songs include "Part of your world" from little mermaid, "Prince Ali" from Aladdin, the song from Beauty and the Beast from the beginning of the movie when she is singing with the village people (there goes the baker with his tray like always, etc), and wish upon a star from Pinoccio. I find it kind of boring, but my 2 year old nephew loves it! That's all that really counts. Great for kids!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Great
This is a wonderful music video for children, which even adults can enjoy!
Beginning with the stirring and moving 'Circle of Life' from the 'Lion King', and continuing with
the beautiful and wistful 'Part Of Your World' from 'The Little Mermaid', we are treated to lots of fun with the rollicking 'Prince Ali' from 'Aladdin', 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King' from 'The Lion King' and one of my personal favourites, 'Everyone Want's to Be A Cat' from 'the Aristocrats'.
There is also the lovely 'Belle' from 'Beauty and The Beast' and the inspiring 'When You wish Upon A Star' from 'Pinocchio'.
A must for every child's video library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great, except for the last song
I just got this DVD and I think it's great. I have most of these songs on CD and listen to them all the time, so I got this DVD because it takes it a few steps further with the words and clips (I also have Sing-Along VHS's from when I was little). I especially like the Timon and Pumbaa songs that are from the TV show (I have "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" on a CD). I do skip a few songs, but my real critic is on "When You Wish Upon a Star" at the end. You go from the upbeat "Jungle Rhythm" from Jungle Book 2 to Pinocchio's slow and somewhat draggy "When you wish Upon a Star" (I skip it so it leaves me hanging). I would much rather have "Singing to the Song of Life" from "Tarzan and Jane" or one of the Phil Collins songs from "Tarzan".

All in all, it's good for kids and anyone who likes Disney's jungle songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Of The Series
This Sing-Along is packed with modern favorites from Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladin and Little Mermaid. We own a good selection of Disney Sing-Along videos, and this one is by far and away everyone's favorite.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Mix of Songs
Although I do find the 'Aristocat' depiction politically dated,(it immediately caught my attention and could have been edited)The DVD is about songs that are upbeat, full of colorful characters having so much fun singing, that perhaps one can excuse Disney's judgement here. It's a music-filled children's DVD that I don't mind listening to. And my 11 month old and 3.5 year old love to sing, bop and dance to fun, stylish songs, from a variety of Disney favorites. ...
