It's not Blazing Saddles, but there are some chuckles to be found in Mel Brooks's 1993 spoof of the Robin Hood legend. Cary Elwes is Robin (with a lighthearted jab at Kevin Costner's bad English accent in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves), while Richard Lewis plays an angst-ridden King John, and Roger Rees a snotty Sheriff of Nottingham. Comic David Chappelle has some good moments as the only black member of Robins's noble thieves, and Brooks does his own spin on Friar Tuck: Rabbi Tuchman. The song-and-dance sequences featuring a chorus line of the Merry Men ("We're men / men in tights") is vintage Brooks, but otherwise the film can't get any traction. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A spoof for people who hate spoofs.
If you're sick and tired of spoofs, especially the dumb ones of today, like "Mafia!" or "Scary Movie", this is the spoof for you. This movie has all kinds of crazy humor that doesn't offend anyone or go over the top, and has a mess of celebrities in it, like the main star, Cary Elwes, and a great supporting cast consisting of Amy Yasbeck, Dave Chappelle, Isaac Hayes, Megan Cavanaugh, and even Patrick Stewart, under the direction of comedy legend Mel Brooks, who also appears in the movie. This movie has all kinds of humor, from humor spoofing modern times, to "secret" humor, to metaphorical humor, and to simply wacky humor anyone can laugh at. Like the Monty Python movies and the Naked Gun trilogy, you'd have to be dead not to find this movie funny.

So in short, see this movie! You'll laugh till your sides hurt!

3-0 out of 5 stars It is not one of Mel Brook's best but there are some laughs
I read that Mel Brook's made this movie because he is facinated with the Robin Hood legend (In particular the Errol Flynn version) Remember "When things were rotten" back in the seventies. He did this movie to poke fun at the Kevin Costner version "Prince of thieves". Apparently Kevin Costner refused to wear tights and as far as Mel Brooks was concern Robin Hood wore tights. I remember one line in which Rabbi Tuckman said to Robin Hood. Robin Hood you just won the heart of the princess YOU PRINCE OF THIEVES YOU!"

Robin Hood is played the versitile actor Cary Elwese, who has done both comedy and drama. One of his most memorable lines in this movie was "Unlike other Robin Hoods, I have a British accent."

My main complaint his that many of the Jokes are recycled from previous Mel Brook's movies. The scene with Dom De Louis as a Godfather like character was funny. It was a pretty good immitation of Marlon Brando.

The actor who played hangman in this movie was also the Hangman in Blazing Saddles.

Of course Mel Brook's always played a character in his movies. He played Rabbi Tuckman who made money by going to differevt villages performing circumcisions.

2-0 out of 5 stars Funny?
I saw this when it was released in theaters. I had hopes for quite a few laughs. Instead there were just a few. Very few. Ever see a "comedy" where you keep waiting for the funny stuff to happen, but it never does? That's what happens with "Robin Hood-Men In Tights".

4-0 out of 5 stars A Classic Brooks Adventure!
"Robin Hood: Men in Tights" was the first of Mel's movies that I saw. It was also one of the movies that sealed me as a Brook's fan! Cary Elwes was the classic Robin, with fun pokes at all the various others who had been in the role. The merry men were the funniest group gathered on one screen and the raps that began and ended the movie were a different idea, but still really cool. This movie should be given more credit as a hilarious comedy. In fact, when my school did the musical "Brigadoon' (which takes place in Scotland), a bunch of the guy actors did a parody of "Robin Hood" as a school broadcast commerial. They changed the words of the famous song "We're men in tights!" to "We're men in Kilts". It was classic! If you are looking for a good film, this is it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Where is the DVD?
This is one of the funniest movies ever made. If Dracula: Dead and Loving It can make it to DVD, then why not this? Not only that, but it is available in Europe and Australia but not in the US. What are they waiting for? ... Read more

This cute movie by William Dear stars John Lithgow as a family man who befriends a Sasquatch (a.k.a. Bigfoot) and brings the friendly monster's oversized, hairy self into his Seattle home. Mayhem and comedy ensue, but things take a heavier turn when a hunter (David Suchet) gets on the creature's trail. Everything hinges on the relationship between Lithgow's character and Harry (the Sasquatch), and that relationship is really quite effective and touching. Don Ameche is a hoot as an old guy who has dreamed of meeting Bigfoot all his life and finally gets the glorious chance. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This is a Cute Movie! It Should Be on DVD!
I saw Harry and The Hendersons in a movie theater and I thought it was a cute movie. John Lithgow and the rest of the cast were really good and I think this a nice movie for the whole family. It is about a family who discovers and befriends a sasquatch (Bigfoot) who they name Harry. Lookout for David Suchet (Poirot) as a unscrupulous hunter out to bag Bigfoot. I saw this movie long before I started watching Poirot and I didn't know who David Suchet was back then but he did a good job playing the villain. I recommend this movie and I think it should be put out on DVD (Widescreen).

5-0 out of 5 stars "Harry" stands tall among most other family-oriented movies!
Hilarious, genuinely touching and perfectly acted entertainment! John Lithgow once again shows just how talented he is in his portrayal of George Henderson, the poor beleagured "owner" of this huge creature that he mistakenly believes that he has killed by accident. Lithgow can, of course, portray a wide range of emotions very well, and his many talents are greatly used in this wonderful story. Melinda Dillon as wife Nancy is the perfect match for George, and does a fabulous job, as always. Watch for a hilarious turn by Lainie Kazan as the goofy, nosey next-door neighbor--what a hoot! Don Ameche brings his usual excellence to the roll of a non-believing believer who has searched his whole life for what poor George has stumbled upon quite by accident. The dinner table scene when he comes face-to-face with the real thing will put a lump in your throat every time you watch it! And if you aren't familiar with David Suchet away from the outstanding "Poirot" series on PBS, wait until you see his turn as the sleazy, nasty hunter determined to bag the ultimate trophy--Harry! Additionally, it's no surprise that awards were won by the individuals responsible for the incredible make-up job that was necessary to convincingly portray the huge, massive Sasquatch. He's incredibly real and absolutely believable. Can't recommend this movie enough--buy it, rent it or borrow it today and watch this one with your family around you. You won't be sorry!

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny funny movie!
I love this film. Its part of the magic "trio" of cult classic films: including "Kazaam" and "Ghost dad."

This movie is about a family who is visited by big foot. The acting in this movie is amazing! The charcters responded so realisticly.

I know this is supposed to be a comedy, but the actors responded so realistcly to having a big foot living in their house. Thats the way I would have acted if it was really happening to me.

Well, not much can be said about this movie. It basicly speakes for it itself.

    ENJOY

1-0 out of 5 stars Let's Get Harry
Awful "What-If?" movie about bigfoot and a family who takes it in after accidentally running it over with their car. HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS was produced by Spielberg's production company during a period when quite a few movies were being produced in the vain of Disney-esque family fare. The costume/special effects of bigfoot (played by Kevin Peter Hall) are impressive. However, when bigfoot has that smiling, dumb grin on its/his? face (especially in close-ups with teeth showing and all) it is sickening beyond reproach. John Lithgow, Melinda Dillon(A CHRISTMAS STORY), and Don Ameche (COCOON),hold the cast together in this harmless, emotionally light, shallow kiddie movie, but it doesn't go anywhere. Pro-Wrestler and part-time actor "Andre the Giant" (THE PRINCESS BRIDE) played bigfoot on an episode of THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN and it was much more satisfying, entertaining and inventive than this forgettable film.

4-0 out of 5 stars "It's A Major Discovery. We Have To Take It Home!"
HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS is a cross between a cryptozoologist's, X-FILESs, dream film and a Hallmark special off Lifetime. It is THE FAMILY MAN meets THE MOTHMAN. And, if you like big, harry sasquatches and functional, happy families that take them in, well this is the flick for you.

This family film has E.T. written all over it. You've got cute, loveable kids and a furry, caring, mythical creature. The parents just don't know what to do when they slam into the sasquatch while driving through the forest on vacation and apparently kill him in his Bigfoot tracks. However, when they strap the creature to the car-roof to drive him to a local fairy-tale vet's office, he turns out to be not only fictitious, but also very much alive. The rollicking tale and fun that follows can only be stopped by, you guessed it, a Bigfoot hunter with the wrong motivation in mind.

All kidding aside, I loved this flick when I was a kid. We had a VHS copy of the film, and my brothers and I wore it out something nuts. HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS is a family film. It's great for children and people who have yet to accept the fact that unicorns, Bigfeet and the Loch Ness Monster are "pretend." Meanwhile, you and your friends might enjoy picking this monster up from video stores on a rainy night when you just feeling like laughing at extreme silliness. I mean, c'mon guys, we're talking about some folks that run over a sasquatch and take it back to suburbia where it becomes a part of the family. If that won't make you laugh, I just don't know what will. I'm laughing just thinking about it. The part when Harry gets into the car and his head makes the roof bulge up, because he's so tall and big and strong..... golly that's just the best!

Well, John Lithgow (FOOTLOSE; SHREK) may be one of the best banjo players this side of Uranus, but all that fingerpicking sure doesn't get in the way of his fathering/acting skills. He's constantly caught between doing what he thinks would be best for his family and his compassion for imaginary, Harries. However, when Jacques LaFleur (David Suchet - GREYSTOKE; A PERFECT MURDER), a hunter out for Bigfoot blood, starts sniffing the sasquatch trail, Harry and co. are forced to recruit Dr. Wallace Wrightwood (Don Ameche - TRADING PLACES; COCOON), a Bigfoot enthusiast, and flee to the hills to save Harry. Isn't that a unique tail?

While the film is a winner in many ways, one can't escape the fact that Bigfoot is not a real creature! This staggering statement can't be ignored. Throughout the film, you just can't help but laugh and comment, "Hang on just a darn second! Now, that's not real. There's no such thing as Bigfoot." And, then you'd laugh out loud and smack yourself on the knee.

Overall, HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS is a must-own rental for anyone with a flare for cheesy movies about nonsensically impossible creatures and the families they love. ... Read more

Richard Simmons is the king of motivational exercise, especially if you're a beginner. This video workout is a dance party simulating a class reunion, with an energizing live band playing lively hits from the '50s and '60s, such as "It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To," "Great Balls of Fire," and "Dancing in the Streets." The singers and musicians sometimes come offstage and dance with the exercisers, adding to the energy and festivity. The choreography is very simple, low impact, light intensity, and appropriate for beginners and overweight exercisers. (You may not get your heart rate up if you're very fit, although you'll enjoy the music.) Richard doesn't do much in the way of cueing--he assumes you'll just follow along. His onscreen class has women and men of all body shapes and sizes, and everyone is having a blast. You will, too. At the end, the exercisers dance down the floor and the screen flashes how many pounds they've lost--several have lost more than 100 pounds. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for beginners
This was the first Richard Simmons tape I ever used. I agree with others who note his instruction is not always clear and specific; the first time I used the tape that was a bit disconcerting. Then I realized that one of my exercise goals was to relieve stress and this was not something to stress about. Richard and the people who join him are clearly having so much fun -- it's contagious. The great thing is you get to do this workout in the privacy of your home and it doesn't matter if you master every move.

I like that the participants who join Richard in this, and all of his videos, really represent humanity. They are different sizes, shapes, and ethnic backgrounds. Some are clearly more coordinated than others BUT all are enjoying themselves. I particularly find the closing of each tape motivational, when participants come forward doing their own steps and their names and the # of pounds they have lost is displayed.

This is the easiest of Richard's tapes and a good place to begin if you haven't previously done much exercise.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good... but a little disappointed!
I don't consider myself in the greatest of shape... to be quite honest, I'm quite overweight. I haven't been in the habit of exercising regularly, so I thought a little bit of good ol' Richard would do the trick

We (my college roomie and I) started with Sweatin' to the Oldies 3 and LOVED it! We do that one all the time! After finding the first STTO tape somewhere, we decided to give it a try. While it was fun, we really didn't feel like we got much of a workout. The songs are shorter and the moves more repetitive... I'm hoping the STTO 2 tape is better. :-/

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Results And A lot Of Fun
I first ordered and used this tape in the early 90's and lost about 20 lbs. in about 6 weeks. I trimmed down all over and felt great. I think this is the greatest exercise tape ever, a lot of fun and I never seem to get bored with it. Highly recommended. Add a few sit-ups at the end and you will see great results while having fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Richard Simmons, Not Just for the Obese
Lets face it, even if you aren't overweight you love Richard Simmons. If you deny it, I know you're lying, you know you're lying and everyone else knows it too. This is a fabulous tape, the exercises are simple and fun and Richard is hilarious and enthusiastic. My friends and I (all in high school) have Richard Simmons nights once a month to bond with eachother. Its a great activity for teenage girls everywhere.

If you concentrate on the fact that Howard the Duck was a notorious box office dud (still brought up today) and considered one of the worst films of the '80s, it's entirely possible to enjoy this special effects piffle. Howard, played by a special effect puppet, lives on a planet where ducks evolved instead of apes, but one day he's sucked into a vortex and deposited on Earth. There he befriends Beverly Switzler (Lea Thompson), lead singer for the Cherry Bombs, becomes their manager, and, oh yeah, saves the Earth from the Dark Overlords. Jeffrey Jones is the villain and Tim Robbins (!) is there for comic relief. And who can resist the culmination of synthesizer pop, the Howard the Duck theme song, as realized by the Cherry Bombs? 5-0 out of 5 stars All Hail Howard the Duck!!!
(...)Howard the Duck is all of this and more. I first saw this movie in theaters and loved it. Lea Thompson and the rest of her band The Cheery Bombs are sexy, and the theme song is real catchy!

The special effects are up to par with the technology at the time, and the comedy is right on the nose. I mean c'mon those Dark Overlords were pretty cool looking. Anyone who claims to hate this movie is obviously an 80's hater. (...) This film defines great 80's cinema and I could never understand the backlash. Many great movies have bombed at the theaters only to become favorite classics (the original Blues Brothers and It's a Wonderful Life come to mind).

(...)I will defend this movie until my dying day. Howard the Duck is a great movie from the greatest decade of the 20th Century. Hail Howard!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars An ILM Late 80's Audition Reel!!
Momma always said, "you learn more from your failures, than you do from your successes." I think Momma has a point. Sometimes failures can point the way to the future. The 80's were a good barometer for that, and no other movie has blazed the trail of failure quite like Willard Huyck colossal miscalculation HOWARD THE DUCK. A movie that is inept and pointless, and yet so full of innovative and yes even breathtaking special effects.

HOWARD THE DUCK tells the story of a duck named Howard (voiced by Chip Zein, and played by a bunch of little people in a duck suit) who lives on a planet much like earth, except Duck's are the top of the food chain. He's a failed rock musician who's finally given up that dream and has settled into the mundane life of an advertising copywriter. On one particular day, he's just gets home from another day of the daily grind, when he's sucked into a giant laser beam and transported to Cleveland, Ohio on our earth. Let the comic hijinks begin...well okay let the less than stellar puns begin.

Howard meets Beverly (Lean Thompson) a struggling rock musician and takes up "roost" in her apartment. After a day or so they fall in love. There's also a young Lab Assistant named Phil (Tim Robbins in a star-making performance) and Dr. Jennings (Jefferey Jones) whom want to help Howard get home, via the giant laser beam that brought him to earth in the first place.

I stop there because the second half of the movie has to do with this wild alien and I'm not quite sure I can do that part of the story any real justice. Suffice to say there's an alien threat and Howard is here to stop it. Actually he kind of runs away from it as the alien menace and the cops try to stop him.

HOWARD THE DUCK is based on a far more interesting and inventive comic book series created by Steve Gerber. This movie and that series have absolutely nothing in common but the name. In fact the movie ruined the comic book series that poor Steve Gerber sued Universal and George Lucas, and then killed off his Duck for a long time. How's that for fair.

Wait a second you say, go back just a minute, did you just say George Lucas? Yes ladies and gentlemen. George Lucas was the executive producer of this film and it shows. His fingerprint is on everything and more importantly Industrial, Lights, and Magic have designed this film as their audition reel. They throw everything into the pot, creature effects, stop motion, animation effects, makeup effects, an elaborate chase sequence (that I'm convinced was shot for shot re-created for the freeway chase in the MATRIX RELOADED, well not really but It's nice to speculate.) involving a small personal aircraft, and all of it is breath taking.

But why? Why did ILM and George Lucas waste all that time and energy? The only thing I can think is that they were doing tests for Lucas's next big project WILLOW.

You're probably now asking why doesn't the film work? The biggest problem is there is absoulty no screenplay. The first 20 minutes of the film fly by, barely allowing the viewer to breathe. The characters have time to meet, time to fight, time to get back together, all before the story begins to take shape. By the time it does it shifts radically into a completely different movie involving giant space creatures.

They started out with a promising idea; it's ET in the city. How does this duck adapt to his surroundings? That should have been the movie. But there's no room for special effects that way. So on comes Act 2, and so many effects shots you shake your head.

I was also a little disgusted by the Human/Duck love scene of course you see nothing, but the implied relationship makes even less sense then the rest of the movie and is really there just to make a silly joke anyway.

This is the key to why this film fails. It doesn't set its tone properly. Every other line is some comic zinger that falls flat because the movie doesn't know whether it's a comedy, or an action picture. There satire, and drama all thrown out there but it goes nowhere.

This effects all the acting as well. The human characters are robbed of any humanity because the script is so disjointed. They overreact to everything and poor Tim Robbins is forced to mug for laughs when the audience already knows that there are none.

The script by director Huyck and his writing partner Gloria Katz is so bad you forget that these are the people who hit just the right beats in their more successful film AMERICAN GRAFFITTI.

The films biggest flaw is that it has no audience. It a tad bit vulgar for little kids, and if you reach the age of 8 you'll be far smarter than this movie is. As for adults there is nothing of substance in the movie for people to grab onto.

But I guess in the end could HOWARD THE DUCK been a good picture? Maybe! There were definitely moments of light in the picture. Moments that seemed unforced. I especially loved the early scenes involving Howard and Beverly. An interesting story could have unfolded. But the films exciting visuals were more important to the bottom line. In fact the bulk of the film contains this huge chase scene involving airplanes, cars, 18-Wheelers and lots of destruction. Sure the scene is cool to look at but it's not worth the Journey.

Stay away from Howard the Duck.

    ** Out of 5

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this movie
I am 25 years old. I loved this movie as a kid. I watched it over and over again. I just ordered it for my 7 year old son with the hopes that he will like it as much as I did. I is a funny and stupid movie, but well worth it for the kids to watch. I highly recommend this movie for anyone between the ages of 5-13 years old.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cult Classic
Lea Thompson, Tim Robbins, and the always entertaining Jeffrey Jones star in this tale of a duck from an alternate universe
who finds himself transported to Earth and is now trying to get home. Lea Thompson plays the young woman who looks after him,
Tim Robbins plays the janitor who pretends to be a scientist,
and Jeffrey Jones plays a scientist who goes a little crazy.

The funny thing about movies that are ambitious and
flop, Is nobody copies that formula. Sure Die Hard has been copied over and over. Under Siege etc. But Movies that don't make the big money are often forgotten. And that is what makes them better now then when they were released. Buackaroo Banzai is another example of a box office flop that has gained alot of
    success through video and dvd.

And I know alot of people will think I am crazy. But this is my
favorite George Lucas film. There is something about Howard the
Duck that I gravitated towards as a kid. Maybe it was him being small in a strange foreign world he is yet to understand. Isn't that what childhood is about. The best movies are the ones where
the movie never changes but as you watch it at a different age
and a different point in your life you notice so much more.
I can't explain much further my fondness for Howard the Duck.
But I really love this movie.

I know there are alot of people who can't stand this movie,
But for those who get it, There is nothing quite like it
and probally never will be again.

1-0 out of 5 stars An insult to a classic comic book
Steve Gerber's original Howard the Duck comics were a classic mockery of the '70s, from jabs at religious cults to Howard's run for president in 1976 and even an issue almost entirely in text because of deadlines. However, Gerber left Howard and Marvel Comics at the end of the decade due to his struggle to gain control of his signature character.

Coming in 1986, at a time when Gerber's dispute with Marvel had exploded into a full-blown legal battle (and the comic publisher had practically destroyed Howard with numerous changes in appearance and origin), the Howard the Duck movie was heavly hyped and awarded a huge budget-largely due to the involvement of one George Lucas. What emerged was the worst movie of 1986, and one of the 1980s many candidates for "worst movie ever". For those ignorant of the original comic book, the reputation is well-earned, with an unlikeable lead and an incredibly stupid plot. For those of us familiar with Steve Gerber's work, this film is nothing short of an abomination. However, years of repeated (and downright excessive) reruns on cable have created a number of apologists for this drivel. Do yourself a favor and avoid this wreck (and pray that George Lucas is able to keep it from appearing on DVD), while tracking down the Howard the Duck comics written by Steve Gerber, which are superior to this travesty in every way. ... John Waters's goofy, 1990 comedy about a Baltimore girl (Amy Locane) who can't decide if she should remain "good" in her 1954 world or hang out with the motorcycle boys is funny in a scene-by-scene way, but doesn't quite gel into the grand piece the director was hoping for. The cast is exceptionally likable, however, including Johnny Depp as an Elvis type and Iggy Pop as a chattering loony. The best material is set in a fringe world of bikers and losers on the outskirts of town, and Waters writes some hilarious sardonic dialogue for the characters. Cry-Baby is the last of Waters's more undisciplined features; he followed it with the glossier but no less perverse Serial Mom. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Extremely silly, stupid and bad. It's great!
This movie is so bad it hurts. It's incredibly campy and silly, a wonderful parody. I'd say a definate must for Johnny Depp fans (and I can't say I'm one of them) and for anyone who enjoys a good laugh at stupidly silly films. No smart comedy hear, no deep message or meaning, just a hilarious spoof filled with catchy songs and dance moves. A good rainy day film, or for cheering you up, though I think if you were really in a bad mood this movie would just seem stupid and make you want to scream. Still, not bad when you want a laugh. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone looking for witty comedy or a serious or engaging film, just someone ready for a silly and over-the-top movie filled with song and dance and tons of unbelievabley stereotyped fun characters.

4-stars for a quirky and silly movie. Nothing extrodinary, but still fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cry-Baby Walker Rules
I had seen this movie in the movie theatre as a teenager and it Rocked!! That started my enjoyment of Johnny Depp films. I never watched 21 Jump Street until this movie. The cast is so funny. The TV version I seen added parts that I had not seen in the theatre but cut out parts that were extremely funny. Now I have a copy of the TV version plus the video version which was what I seen in at the movies. It would be really great to get on DVD with both versions together (played together or both on one disc). To this day I can sing every song (I had the soundtrack before the videos) and say most of the words with everyone. It is a funny movie that just won't get old watching over and over!! In fact I watched it today. I just can't say enough about how hilarious this movie. It is the "bad boy" falling in love with the "good girl" just like "Grease" and other great movies like that. I think they did a great job at making it look like the 50s in the movie. It has been my favorite movie since I seen it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cry Baby........
I wouldn't recommend this film. I think I got bored. It was so long ago, but I believe I was bored.

5-0 out of 5 stars He's so hott!
I have been watching this movie ever since I was 6, and now I'm 15. It's great and the best part is that Johnny Depp is in it. I think he's incredibly hott no matter what he wears. This movie should definately be on dvd. What I don't get is why does Johnny and (Amy) make out in the movie when she is still dating the other guy, lol. But, it's a very cute movie. I think everybody who hasn't seen it yet, should!

5-0 out of 5 stars why on EARTH is this not on dvd?!?!
I thought that this film was great and fantastic for cheering you up. The songs were really catchy and cheesy (in a good way) and Johnny Depp looked incredible. A must for ALL fans. It just makes me wonder what is going through the directors head by not putting this on dvd, it is mazing. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A perfect classic cartoon, and also many good lessons
If your kids love classic animated movies, without any computer effects, and too many intense scenes, then buy 'Charlotte's Web'!
Debbie Reynolds are the charming and wise spider Charlotte, that saves the young pig Wilbur's life, Wilbur is perfectly voiced by Henry Gibson, all the songs gives the kids many lessons, just like all the songs in 'Land Before Time' do, the animation is not getting up beside Disney, but if you like old fashioned cartoons, 'Charlotte's Web' is a must have for all ages!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Timeless Masterpiece!
This is one of the best stories ever written, and this adaptation does it great justice. My daughter, 3, has watched it for over 4 months now and knows every song, every bit of dialog, and enjoys it over and over. And I'm so happy with the warmth of the story, the animation, how well each song fits into the story line. It's simply charming!! The animals' voices are wonderful!! Debbie Reynolds is a noble and nurturing Charlott, Henry Gibson is a perfect Wilbur, Agnes Moorehead is a hilarious stuttering goose, and who else but Paul Lynde could play Templeton the Rat with such panache?? (I don't know who does the sheep's voice, but he's also well cast). If you have smaller children, you can't do without this video!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Picture remastering poor, sound mono as if from a synd tape
They need to take a new transfer from Paramount's original interpositive, and remix the music and effects tracks into Stereo utilizing Paramount's original 3-track music and effects masters as they did for Paramount's other classic treasure, Willie Wonka.

This DVD is only better than it's 12-inch LaserDisc cousin due to the widescreen transfer. However, the color is poor, the print they took the transfer from appears severely damaged in several places, the film jitter and weave is completely unwatchable. The sound is monaural and appears to be color-matched and sound equalized to look and sound good on the TV's of the early 70's when the film came to home video the first time. It's as if someone played a 16MM classroom print of the film on a classroom projector, aimed a camera and a microphone at the classroom projector and then used that for the DVD master.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still a Fabulous Movie
Charlotte's Web may be lacking the advanced animation seen in more recent cartoons, but I highly recommend you see it! The story is gentle and inspiring, an endearing tale of the bonds of friendship. Wilbur the Pig is innocent and kind but not so much so that he comes across as boring or stupid. Charlotte the Spider, who becomes his friend, is a fiesty character that rallies the entire barnyard in an effort to save Wilbur from the butcher's block. I especially liked Templeton the Rat, who was voiced by comedian Paul Lynde. Templeton's wry observations made me smile and his grudging participation in the scheme to save Wilbur kept me smiling. I enjoyed this movie almost as much as my children. We rank it high on our favorites list!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Children's Movie Ever
I love Charlotte's Web.I remember as a kid that I use to watch the movie & read the book.At the end of the movie I thought it was sad when Charlotte died.I love Wilbur,Fern,Templeton & the Goose.I love the songs that they have on the movie especially Smorgasbord. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent video for preschoolers
We love this video. We borrowed it from the library for 1 week and my 2 year old and 3 1/2 year old watched it over and over. I thought a week would be enough, but my girls don't want to give it back, so we are going to buy one. I was very surprized to here them repeating the letters and their sounds after the first time they watched it. I also have a one year old who watches it and has started making a few of the letter sounds. The only other movies my kids enjoy watching this much are the Dora ones and the Cookie Monster's Best Bites, and they are not nearly as educational. I don't like my girls to watch a lot of TV, but this movie gives me a break, makes them happy, and helps them learn all the letters and sounds in a fun way. It also encourages my daughter to use her Leap Pad Phonics book 1 which teaches the letters and sounds with the same songs as in the movie. I think this movie is great and I hope they make more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Video! Very Educational!
We purchased this video for our 3 yr. old preschooler for Christmas, so we've only had it for a week... but all I have to say is WOW! I've been spending a lot of time in the last few months teaching my son his letters. He really only seemed to "get" a few of them. After watching this video a few times, he now identifies most of the letters!
The video introduces each letter by taking Tad into each letter's "room" where the letter is practicing making its sound. For example, the A's are scared by a silly monster and yell "Aaaahh". They give letters names like "tap dancing T" and "karate kicking K" which help children to remember the sound leach letter makes. My son really enjoys the video and asks to watch it quite often.
I bought this video in addition to the Leap Frog magnetic refrigerator letters--and both items reinforce one another and the concept of letter recognition and letter sounds.

As a mother of a preschooler and an elementary school teacher, I highly recommend this video. I think it's an excellent tool for teaching preschoolers to recognize the letters of the alphabet and their sounds.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best video for toddlers ever
This is my daughter's favourite video - it is sooo positive. Funny to see that a cup of tea needs salt and not sugar (but of course trying to avoid sugar in kids diets).
Wish that more videos were as positive as this could be produced - leaves the quality of many, many others behind.

Future videos will hopefully show a girl such as Lily as a featured person.
PLEASE MAKE MORE OF THESE POSITIVE AND EDUCTIONAL VIDEOS/DVDs FOR TODDLERS - THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH OF THEM

5-0 out of 5 stars Learning made fun and easy!
This is by far the best DVD I have bought for my 2 1/2 year old son. He is always asking to "Watch ABCs" He loves it. But most importantly, he's learning. Letter Factory makes it easy for toddlers and preschoolers to associate the letters with the sounds. Yesterday we were playing with his letter magnets. I was so surprised when he was naming the letters as he put them on the refrigerator and even more surprised when he told me what sound some of them made!! I can't wait to buy the word dvd!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Clever system
This video is the cleverest, most entertaining way of teaching phonics I have seen yet. Although I'm not a great fan of the Leap Frog graphics, they do have a catchy way of making you remember all the sounds. I think my three year eight month old son pretty much memorized all the sounds after watching the video just three or four times. We followed up with the Word Factory, so now he understands the concept of letters combining phonetically to make words.

It's not one of his favorite videos, but I think that he already learned the lessons to be learned, so it was money well spent. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A new breed of dinosaur documentaries
This DVD is refreshing. Unlike other dinosaur documentaries, this one presents the subject of dinosaurs from a "Wild Life Documentary" perspective. You feel as though you are watching a typical safari documentary on lions and other wild life. The commentary is no different. The scenes are no different. The only difference being you are watching dinosaurs! The producers managed to pull it off very well. At times the realism is very striking and you feel as though you are actually watching real live dinosaurs in their native habitats. Notice I said "At times"? Well, having a real good eye for detail is sometimes not the best thing. I can see that sometimes the dinosaur computer animation overlays of some of the dinosaur scenes do not have enough contrast and look unnatural compared to the surrounding natural scenery. Most people will not notice this but I do. For me this minor detail makes it difficult for me to get totally immersed in the film. This is one reason why I didn't give this movie more than 4 stars. I did not notice this with any of the underwater scenes. They look completely real to my eyes. Also many of the other scenes look completely real, showing that the producers of this film have the talent to pull off the realism, but failed to do so in some of the scenes, especially with the Tyrannosaurus scenes. This dinosaur is very impressive, but the contrast on the computer animation of this creator is probably the worst of all. His image badly needs more contrast. Its such a minor detail. And its easily fixed. With a little more contrast its image would look more natural compared to the natural scenery. I'm sure its simple for the film makers to go back to the computer program and adjust the contrast of the image to make it match its surroundings better.

I would have gave this film 1/2 of a star more IF the computer animation overlay sequences always had correctly adjusted contrast to match the natural scenery. And an additional 1/2 of a star if there were a few more exciting scenes added. There is one scene were this huge sea dinosaur jumps out of the water and gulps down a large land walking dinosaur. This scene is startling. It will make you jump and clap. Exciting stuff. A little more of this and this DVD would be much more entertaining.

The second DVD that comes in this set is very nice. It shows how everything was done and is quite entertaining. This DVD gets 4 1/2 stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars Better even than Jurrasic Park!
I ordered this title from Amazon based primarily on the customer comments I'd read about it in this section (a process which has failed me a couple of times in the past, unfortunately). The fact that it was worth over $25 (this is substantial especially for destination countries like the Philippines, where we also have to contend with high shipping rates) also prompted me to pursue a cycle of ordering it, then cancelling, then reordering it, and so forth - until I finally decided to "bite the bullet". Needless to say, and as one may see from the 5 stars I gave it, it was a choice I never regretted since...

"Walking with Dinosaurs" is a visually brilliant piece of documentary work, combining a dazzling array of computed-generated imagery and animatronics. The 2-disc set comes with bonus pictures such as PIP, a "making-of" featurette and subtitling. The main feature is divided into 6 main chapters, with each focusing either on a particular period (e.g. Late Triassic in "New Blood") or type of creature (i.e. a pteranodon in "Giant of the Skies", ocean-dwellers in "Cruel Seas").

What can I say? It's a visually breathtaking experience, presented ala a National Geographic or Discovery Channel special, actual documentary. Some scenes are very graphic (i.e., when the velociraptor was feasting on a newly-hatched diplodocus, when a baby diplodocus was accidentally killed by the spiked tail of a stegosaurus). Some where hair-raisingly shocking (e.g. when the hige sea creature came out of nowhere to grab the unsuspecting raptor-like dinosaur). It's simply amazing, especially for one such as I (and I believe millions of other people) who grew up with a wide-eyed fascination for dinosaurs. It's like seeing them for the first time (check it out - the T-Rex' saliva even splashed onto the camera lens! Ughhhh....:)

Trust me, you have to get this. As an avid DVD collector (I have over 200 titles, including some of the better animal documentaries such as those by IMAX), I'd consider this a top 10, "must have".

4-0 out of 5 stars The first "Walking With"...
With 230 minutes and bonus features this two disc set is a must if you enjoyed any of the other "Walking With..." series. From the very first dinosaur to to the very last, the show explores the changes to the world and evolution of the dinosaurs to keep up. Frankly, two of the shows don't even FOCUS on dinosaurs, but on the sea reptiles and the flying reptiles. It could of used more dinosaurs.
There is a 50 minute "Making Of" documentary in the second disc and about 29 minutes of behind-the-scenes picture-in-picture footage spread through-out the first disc. The behind-the-scenes footage tells you how they did the effects, why they picked certain locations and why they made the dinosaurs do what they did. Some of the behind-the-scenes footage is also shown in the "Making Of", so there is some overlap.
Interesting, but much of the information was already well known and covered by older shows or children's books. And, yes, lots of babies seem to die. A lot. THAT is nature, but maybe not something younger viewers should be exposed to in so many scenes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Magnificent Epic!
Walking with Dinosaur; is a SPECTACULAR movie featuring different kinds of dinosaurs. The movie is done in a documentary style, like those nature shows you've seen on television. They used computer animation to bring the dinosaurs to life; and let me tell you that they look incredibly realistic. The movie is broken down into a series of episodes featuring a different dinosaur in each one of them. The narrator, Mr. Kenneth Branagh (sorry if misspelled) did in excellent job and just added to the immersive story telling! I felt like a child listening to a wonderous bedtime story. I laughed at the funny parts and felt sad during the tragic parts of the stories. The movie is very long and is complimented with beautifully orchastrated classical music. The movie is about three hours long and I still wish it was longer; because that's how much I loved watching WWD! Adults and children will like it! And although dinosaur behaviors are all hypothetical, the scientists explaining their theories sound pretty valid and logical. If you enjoy nature shows or love dinosaurs, you should add this movie to your collection! Walking with Dinosaurs is a Magificent Epic!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just phenomenal; as real as any animal documentary ever made
We bought this for my (almost) 5 year-old son who has already forgotten more about dinosaurs than I'll ever know. I have worked in the elearning world with programmers who make 3-D animations of industrial equipment, and I have to say I am just amazed at the quality of the work in this series. The dinosaurs just plain look like they are alive today. It looks as real as if they were shooting elephants in Africa.

    PROS
    * Presented in story style of real animal documentaries: Each of the six episodes follows a small number of dinosaurs for a period of time; we learn about their relationships with each other and their environmental struggles

    * "Making of" bonus DVD is a treat for older viewers interested in seeing how the episodes were made. THERE WAS A LOT OF INTERACTION WITH PALEONTOLOGISTS DURING THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS THAT ADDS TONS OF CREDIBILITY AND REALISM TO THE END PRODUCT.

    * Animations as real (or better) than Jurassic Park

    * Comprehensive focus on different periods (Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous) of the dinosaurs and wonderful background on the different climates and geology of these periods

    PURCHASING RECOMMENDATION
Anyone, young or old, with an interest in dinosaurs should get this. There may be some parts that frighten young viewers, so parents should screen it first and be with kids during the kids' first viewing. BUT THIS IS PHENOMENALLY ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATIONAL FOR EVERYONE. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A true masterpiece! A 5 star winner and a true classic!
The Wizard of Oz has got to be one of the greatest movies in classical and musical cinema history. For sixty years this movie has been the perfect choice for childeren and adults to watch and enjoy. The story is about Dorthy Gale who lives in Kansas with her aunt and uncle. When Dorthy decides to run away from home because of her feelings being empty a tornado hits and she and her house are taken to another world, the Land of Oz. A place where she finds friends like she never imagined like Glinda the good witch of the north, the beautiful witch who gives her the rubey slippers which posses power like any unknown. The scarecrow, a friendly man of clothing and straw who wants a brian, the tin woodsman, a sweet man made of tin who wants a heart, the lion, a kind and cowardly forest animal who wants courage and the wicked witch of the west, a evil witch who wants the rubey slippers and revenge on Dorthy for accidently killing her sister, the wicked witch of the east. As Dorthy and her friends follow the yellow brick to the emerald city, the place where the great and powerful and mysterious Wizard of Oz lives the magic of this film can tell the rest.

A true masterpiece! Excellent polt, characters, music and more. It holds an emotional presents that will touch everyone's heart and wish they were in the Land of Oz! See it and live through the magic of this timeless classical film of wonders.

5-0 out of 5 stars An OZ-some DVD Experience
Like most baby boomers, I've watched this film dozens of times in the past on broadcast TV, then VHS tape, then LaserDisc ... but I had never actually SEEN "The Wizard of Oz" until this newly restored DVD came out. It's an amazing transfer. The sepia-tone Kansas sequences are startlingly sharp and clear, and the Technicolored world "Over the Rainbow" is truly dazzling. I found myself fascinated by details I had never noticed before: the glittering corn stalks in the Scarecrow's field; the mirror-like floors of the Emerald City; the polished buttons on the guardsmen's uniforms. Incredibly, even the individual grains of red sand in the Witch's hourglass stood out and glistened! All these minor-but-sumptuous visual details served to heighten the magical spell that the film has always woven, enhancing the performances, the story, and the music.

The DVD extras are a mind-boggling embarrassment of riches. The "Making Of" documentary hosted by the incomparable Angela Lansbury is worth the price of the DVD alone, but there's so much more: an international poster gallery, interviews with cast members, deleted scenes, production stills, radio clips, etc, etc. There's enough material to keep even the most casual viewer fascinated for hours, and a true Oz buff will be occupied for days!

If you only bought a DVD player to watch this one disc, it would well be worth the expense. Treat yourself, and fall in love with this classic film again ... for the first time.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wonderful Movie of Oz
I have been enchanted as I now watch the movie as an adult. It is not just a story about a girl from Kansas trying to get back home - actually, that was added into the movie: "There's no place like home" wasn't in the book even. I think it was a story of things that we want, and that we imagine these things may be granted by the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The scarecrow wants a brain, the tinman a heart, and the lion courage. On their journey off to see the wizard, they encounter the wicked witch of the west - who is determined to get the ruby slippers off of Dorothy's feet. Now, the thing I am puzzled by is at the beginning, Glinda is the one who reminds the wicked witch about the shoes. Then she is the one who places them on Dorothy's feet: "There they are and there they'll stay." Had she not had the shoes, her journey to the wizard would not have been so troublesome. Not to mention that the "good witch" sent Dorothy on a journey to a phony wizard. I wonder now if there was some kind of irony in that - since she was also the one who in the end tells Dorothy that all she has to do is click her heels together and say "there 's no place like home." While the movie is totally a classic I love and will watch over and over again, I am wondering about the book: Were the "ruby slippers" (which were silver in the novel) as magical - and - if there was no "no place like home" in the novel then I am wondering how Dorothy got back to Kansas. I think that because each time I watch this film I realize something new, it will always remain one of my favorite movies ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wizard of Oz is wonderful
The classic film! The Wizard of Oz is wonderful. Judy Garland's breakthrough performance. Beautiful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Growing Up, Growing On
I knew every line of this as a kid. I loved the books. I even loved the sequel that everyone else hated because I love OZ. I tried to be "over" this movie for a long time as an adult. But every time I see it I re-remember why I couldn't get enough before. The quintessential fairy tale. All kids and all adults should watch it again to remind them that a movie can work without sex, violence or graphic anything really. It's scary -- touching -- and completely engrossing -- more so each year I grow older. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hard, but fun
I hadn't realized how out of shape I was until I followed along with this video. At first, there were many exercises I simply couldn't complete, but I made sure to keep moving, and stick with it till the end. The 52 minutes go by quickly.

The best part about this video is that the exercises are easy to figure out. I normally hate aerobics, but the aerobic warm up here is simple and gets the heart pumping right away.

Greg Smithey is friendly and encouraging. I like the ordinary-looking people behind him who are able to keep up without grimacing in pain; that gave me hope for myself. You WILL feel the burn while doing these exercises, but just keep trying and do the best YOU can. They will eventually get easier, and you'll like the results.

5-0 out of 5 stars It really works
Buns of steel by Greg Smithey is just wonderful. I have worked out my whole life at home trying every video that came out starting with Jane Fonda videos and nothing gave me the results this tape did. While working with the video, Greg gives funny and encouraging comments that really put a smile on my face and made me want to keep going. It is really hard when you first start out if you are not in shape, but just do a little bit of each exercise and add more each time you do it and you will get where you want to be. It is my absolute favorite! It starts out with a short arobic workout to warm up your muscles that also works on your arms. It then you go into the entire leg and [back] workout. You will feel it in every muscle. Greg is very thorough. It finishes with a stomach and cool down stretch. It is just perfect and very enjoyable due to Greg's humor. Just try it, you will love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent total body workout- you WILL get results!
This is a really old video, but the only thing I feel is lacking is that it is not available on DVD. Hopefully it will be sometime- I have tried other videos but this one is simply the best. First of all, this is a tough workout. You will be sore until you get used to it! The beginning aerobic workout gets your heart rate up and is over before you know it- then you are lying on the floor working outer thighs, inner thighs, buns, and then a short abs segment.

It's hard to do the entire tape at first. Do what you can and each time you use the tape you will be able to do a few more repetitions. Be sure to listen to the instructor and use proper form. I jog and use this tape along with Denise Austin's Super Stomach and have seen REALLY great results (both tapes are old!). I firmed up, lost my extra pounds, and got rid of cellulite. I had to work at it and it wasn't easy, but I did this tape 3-4 times a week consistently and obtained a smaller firmer [posterior] and firm, lean thighs. I highly recommend this tape! I never get bored with it and have owned it for about 10 years now.

Don't let its cheesiness fool you- this is a very effective and fun tape. If you really want to get in shape, you can, and I will just repeat that I had very good results from couch potato to fit, using Buns of Steel, Denise Austin's Super Stomach, and walking/jogging. I do Buns of Steel 3-4 times a week, walk daily, jog a mile daily, and Super Stomachs daily. I have many other fitness videos but this is my favorite, easiest to maintain, and most-results-getting routine!

5-0 out of 5 stars Buns of Concrete
I purchased this video a from Amazon and I Love it!! It is a tad bit old, but the results are what really count. You really feel a burn when you do these exercises and its very low impact.

I recommend this VHS for people who are pear-shaped like me and need to really tone the lower half of your body.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST
I've joined all the clubs and tried all tapes. I have gone down to a size 6 from a size 10 since starting this tape (and cutting down carbs) about four weeks ago. He's goofy, but knows what he's doing and targets those hard to target areas perfectly. I'm very happy and I highly recommend this tape! ... Read more

This charming Disney live-action picture is a genuine sleeper. It's a variation on the old boy-runs-away-to-join-the-circus story, except this time the boy is a girl. After she joins a traveling show in the 1930s, spunky teen Sonora Webster (Gabrielle Anwar) learns the ropes and eventually lands a plum role in the program: riding a horse off a 40-foot-high diving board into a tank of water. Well, Sonora thinks it's a plum, anyway. Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken has the usual love interest, a brush with tragedy, and some worldly wisdom (the latter doled out by old pro Cliff Robertson, in a nice role as a crusty barnstormer). What makes the movie memorable is the performance of the lovely Gabrielle Anwar, the doe-eyed actress who later danced the tango so memorably with Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman. The movie may be sappy--no surprise with that title--but Anwar provides bright star wattage and a plucky role model. --Robert Horton ... Read more

An great video for horse-lovers of all ages. Gabrielle Anwar's
character, Sonora endures a number of life changing events that to the average person may seem exceptionally dramatic and difficult to overcome. Her strong will to have her dream even when it seemed impossible shows a great example to us all! Vic tory only comes to those of us who are always willing to try one more time. Overall this video shows us good moral examples. There is no sex or violence to speak of. This is also a true story. It shows our children to have dreams and to go after them. Have integrity, faith, hope, love through the bad times as well as the good. Above all, if you want something out of life be willing to work hard for it. Don't let someone else steal your dreams. I firmly believe we can be or do exactly as we dream. God almighty gives us the freedom to create our own destiny by the building of our own character dispite others opinions. It's a darn good movie, even after 6 times! What more can I say? Buy it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars An engrossing family tale, based on a true story!
Every once in awhile a story comes along that is so heartfelt, so touching, that it reaches a chord deep inside us. Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken is one of those stories.

Based on real life, it follows the tale of an orphan girl named Sonora Webster. After Sonora's parents die of "the fever" and her aunt leaves her at the mercy of the local orphanage, Sonora runs away with plans to become one of Dr. Carver's diving girls, a journey that takes her on an exciting adventure.

Sonora is given the opportunity to prove she can be a diving girl; when she falls from her horse and gets a bloody nose, (while attempting to pull herself on) she answers in response to a gruff, "you gonna cry, you gonna cry?" "I never cry." she says, with a determined look in her eye.

You'll laugh and you'll cry, right along with Sonora: I can watch this film over and over again, it continually inspires me to follow my dreams and never give up! From the first time that I saw this movie as a girl of 13, and even until today, I still tear up as Sonora defies impossible odds to fulfill her dreams. "If you want something bad enough, anything is possible."

5-0 out of 5 stars A Definite Must See
I first saw this movie with two of my girlfriends when we were young girls, it capured all of our hearts and we watched it over and over. Years later I'm flipping through the channels and see it on, I turn to it for old times sake and fell back in love with it all over again. It's one of those movies I can watch over and over and still one more time. The characters are great and the actors playing them do such a great job. It shows that determination does pay off no matter what. The moral of the movie is great, and I would recommend that any parent buy this movie for their children, they'll love it themselves as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Horse Movie
One of my very favorite movies. A MUST SEE for any horse lover! Great message in the movie too. Wish it was on DVD though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just a Great Movie
Call me sentimental. Call me a pushover for kids and animals but this is a great movie I just happened to stumble on.

Parents: Run don't walk and buy this for the family. Disney did it again. Heartwarming tale of an orphan girl makes good. She makes good in the public eye but also, and the important lesson from the story, makes good overcoming terrible odds.

I am surprised there have not been hundreds of reviews of this movie. Absorbing for adults and children. Good lessons to be learned. An hour and a half well spent.

This episode of the popular science series for kids explores the many remarkable traits of butterflies. Mrs. Frizzle's (Lily Tomlin) class needs a new mascot--fast! There's a soccer game on this afternoon, and they rack their brains for an appropriate name--something that's "exciting and different." When Phoebe suggests they call their team the "Butterflies," everybody thinks it's a silly idea. So Ms. Frizzle takes them to the swamp in search of the mysterious "Bog Beast." But things take a strange twist when Mrs. Frizzle's Port-a-shrinker reduces the kids to bug size. They learn to appreciate the many wonderful traits of butterflies, as they watch them trick, scare, and surprise predators up close. When the bus itself grows wings, the kids must camouflage it and fly like a real butterfly to escape detection. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Feel-Good Movie
"Rad" is, by far, my favorite movie of this particular genre (bmx racing with your basic good-kid underdogs vs. rich talented snobs plot). Though it probably won't keep you on the edge of your seat, you will definitely find yourself rooting for the main character Crew Jones, both on the bmx track and in regard to his new love interest, a fellow bmx'er whom Crew meets when an exhibition bmx team comes to his small town. Crew truly is, as one of the characters in the movie states, "such a nice boy." Coupled with his raw talent and youthful exuberance, one can't help but pull for the youngster. The bmx-riding footage in this movie is amazing, and although the plot is predictable, this movie is a true FGM (Feel Good Movie) and is a must-see for anyone who was or is interested in bmx riding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Peter Marshall - A Man for All Generations
"A Man Called Peter" is an excellent depiction of the true life story of Peter Marshall, an immigrant Scotsman who rose to Chaplain of the U.S. Senate before his untimely death in 1949. Marshall was a real man who served our real God. The movie is very true, generally speakly, to Catherine Marshall's book by the same title.
The part of the movie that shows Catherine Marshall's alma mater, Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, was filmed on location. As a native of Decatur, Georgia, this movie had a huge impact on me. Especially since my mother had actually heard Peter Marshall preach and was greatly affected by his sermons.
Peter Marshall's message is ageless and inspiring. Young people who hear or read his sermons today feel as though Marshall is speaking to them just as he did to my mother's generation.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Movie
This is the true story of the Reverand Peter Marshall. It begins in Scotland where he is called by God for a special mission. It goes to Georgia, where Peter meets & marries Agnes Scott College student Catherine Wood (This part of the movie was filmed on the ASC campus). Finally, the movie takes us to Washington DC, where Peter is the minister at the Church of the Presidents and becomes Chaplain of the US Senate. The movie showcases some of him most memorable sermons - like his sermon on marriage. This is a great film for everyone in the family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bravo!
Bravo to Richard Todd and Jean Peters and the rest of the ensemble of this beatiful, inspiring and superbly made film based on the book by Catherine Marshall. Where was the Academy of Motion Pictures when this film came out? Both Peters and Todd deserved nominations. The film certainly did (it is far better fair than most others nominated in 1955 for Best Picture)
See it and feel 100% better about life - and living

5-0 out of 5 stars A Man of Character Committment and Conviction
In our days of pluralism and completely relative morality embracing spirituality in any form, this movie sets a strong tone of inspiring faith and conficenc in God through Jesus Christ. Peter Marshall was an unusual minister of the gospel who made mistakes but loved his family and the Lord with no reservations. The movie is full of the traditional church persons who are more interested in maintaining their traditons than in establishing the traditions of the gospel. Peter's response to them is both loving and confrontive. I recommend this movie very much.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Man Called Peter
An outstanding movie with uplifting characteristics. This is the story of a truly remarkable man and those who doubt the sencerity of this man ( and the movie ) do not know people who were exposed to Peter Marshall. This is a true classic with elevating overtones that should raise anyone's spirits. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great learning tool!
I am really anti-videos for young children, theoretically! However, I have found this video to be very helpful in getting my 2 year old to understand the concept of counting. She could count to 20 before, but now she counts out everything from goldfish to babies! and she does it correctly! She loves this video and I don't mind her watching it! It is very sweet and likeable and has some catchy songs. I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet little movie that will teach your child to count!
I had though about renting this movie many times but always passed because I just thought it looked sort of generic and outdated. Our library was having a sale of old videos so I ended up buying this one because it was too cheap to pass up. Boy am I glad I did!

My daughter isn't even two yet and can count to 15! She loved this video from the very first time she watched it. It is very very simple, from the animation to the songs. But myself I find this refreshing. I get so tired of watching choppy overproduced kids shows, especially when they are for the younger kids. I find this one just very sweet and to the point. I know my daughter agrees because she asks to watch it everyday and walks around telling everyone it's her "counting day."

I do have to say that like someone else mentioned in another review mom's and dad's beware. Yes you will be humming and singing these little songs long after you've pressed the stop button!!! But I find that happens in most videos and at least these songs aren't too terribly annoying. My only complaint which isnt' really even a complaint is that I found the main bunny's voice to be a bit high pitched. Maybe it's just me but sometimes it really gets to me.

But that's really nothing to complain about when everything else is so good about this video. Pick it up for your little one and I'm sure they'll be counting in no time!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for your little one's video library!
A true classic! Both my 16mo. old and my 2 1/2 yr. old love this video. Very educational and sweet story. Only drawback is that Mom and Dad may be humming the tunes long after the tape is over!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet, Innocent, Simple, Captivating...A Great Learning Tool
I bought this DVD for my 2yr old son, who had recently taken an interest in counting. I taught him to count to 10, and ever since he has been watching this video, he counts up to 16 now by himself! He really enjoys watching the movie, as does my 6-month-old daughter. I personally enjoy the DVD and its innocence. I like that it is simple yet captivating for them. It really holds their attention. I tend to be pretty particular when it comes to movies for my children, making sure they don't teach any bad habits and that it doesn't teach anything contrary to the Bible. I was very pleased to see there wasn't any reference to magic, fairies, etc, as many things tend to include such references these days. I am going to try out other Richard Scarry DVDs and hope that I will be just as pleased with them, too...

This video for teaching little ones about the potty is one of the most successful because kids can easily relate to the characters from the popular series Bear in the Big Blue House. Even though each character has a specific problem (asking for permission, fear of the unknown, bathroom etiquette), the video scores points for the gentleness and calm it communicates to kids. Bear is always upbeat and helpful, a great coach for kids. The songs are catchy too--"Potty Chair" has a rhyming scheme that goes from "underwear" to "millionaire," and there's a hysterical psychedelic '60s number. Older kids may benefit from watching as a confidence builder. By the end, the kiddies may be running to the bathroom to practice their talents, shouting, "I'm a Toileteer!" 5-0 out of 5 stars Learning to Potty with Bear and His Friends
"Potty Time With Bear", is the best in "learning - to - potty" videos. Throughout this 25 - minute video, Bear helps his young friends Treelo, Tutter and Ojo in learning this common but sensitive lesson that every child must learn. Treelo, the lemur, is the youngest and is just getting out of diapers. He feels troubled, so Bear has a talk with him, telling him that learning to use the potty means that he is growing up. Treelo learns that growing up is a good thing, and he should be proud of his accomplishments. Tutter, the mouse, is out of diapers but still has to be reminded about some of the steps in going to the potty. At the beginning of the show Tutter and Bear are playing a game, and Tutter suddenly has to go to the bathroom. He doesn't want to stop playing long enough to go to the potty. So, Bear tells him that its OK to take time out to go and use the potty when you need to. He won't miss anything, and whatever he was doing will be waiting for him when he has finished. While Tutter is in the bathroom, Bear takes him through the motions of going to the potty, reminding him that one should wipe, flush and wash their hands when they are finished. Ojo, the young bear, has an accident while trying to make it to the bathroom. She is very upset and feels really ashamed. Bear helps her to realize that this happens sometimes and that it's perfectly normal. He encourages her to pay attention to her body when it's telling her that it's time to go. When she realizes she needs to go, she should go immediately and not wait. The catchy tunes and fun lyrics in the songs they sing throughout the show helps to bring everything together. Of course, there is the usual "Welcome Song" and "Goodbye Song," but there are two new songs as well: "Potty Chair" and "Toileteers." These songs help you get into the show, and make you feel like singing and dancing with the characters, while the words are teaching you about going to the potty. I would recommend this video to everyone. It's fun for kids to watch even if they have already learned to go to the potty. And, it's fun for parents to watch with their children. If you have seen any of the "Bear In The Big Blue House" TV shows, then you know how wonderful they are, but if you haven't then please give them a try. Bear comes on the Disney channel every morning, and there are many other episodes on video that you can buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful teaching video
This is a terrific teaching and entertaining video to aid in learning basic potty needs and steps. It certainly "speaks" to children on their level in clear and uncomplicated terms. The video uses situations that will be familiar to children and are carried out in both a simple and compassionate manner. When my child first saw this video he was beyond mesmerized. I think he watched it at least 4 or 5 times a day for several days in a row. This certainly is not common practice in our house, however due to his intense interest in the (agreeable to me) subject matter I allowed the viewings. My child is in the active threshold of potty training now. I believe when I first bought the video he had just been introduced to this new world of "pottydom". It has been a considerable time since my child has seen this video, but after having an accident this past weekend in cloth underpants he immediately began reciting the videos' basic potty instruction theme in a very thorough and understanding manner. Cleary it has left a significant and lasting (positive) impression on him.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good video undermined by racist stereotyping
Like a lot of the Bear videos, this has great scripting, catchy tunes and good puppeteering. However, the big let down for me was the song introduced by Shadow, who is an annoying representation of a bog-Oirish charachter complete with inane diddly-eiddly fiddle music. The song is quite disgraceful really - cut-out figures supposed to be blacks in 1970s disco attire, complete with frizzy Afro hairstyles, thick lips and wide noses. At best you might say it's racist stereotyping, at worst downright insulting to African-Americans who might buy this video. Come on, Muppet People, you can do better than that!

1-0 out of 5 stars What a pice of crap!
You call THIS potty training help?!

I bought this book for my 2 1/2 year old and he didn't even bother to sit down to watch it. My mistake was to assume it was potty training help for begginers when it's actually reassurance and advice for older kids who are ALREADY potty trained. It remarks about the importance of going to the toilet as soon as you feel like it to avoid accidents and encourage those who already wet their pants not to be embarassed about it, which is good but is not basic training. I expected to see a 2 to 3 year old character who was still in diapers to be INTRODUCED to the potty and in a simple and easy way .

There is lots of confusing and unnecessary blah, blah, blah before they get into the subject and the song lyrics are quite complicated for a 2 year old to fully understand what he's supposed to do. The part where kids are encouraged to wipe, flush and wash hands is important but I would have been better if they had shown the character do it and not just hear from behind a door.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT potty training video
This is really a fun video. It's fun for children and my husband & I couldn't help but smirk too. You may find yourself singing "Toileteers" at your job and have to explain to your co-workers, but it is just that catchy-ness that makes it great. Your child will be singing the songs and therefore REMEMBERING that there IS a potty that they can use now too. I think it's a lot of fun. Get on the POTTY TRAIN! :) ... Read more

Yoga focuses on keeping the spine open and supported, so it is understandable why millions of people turn to yoga for self-care of their back, explains instructor Rodney Yee in Back Care Yoga for Beginners, a gentle, easy 30-minute introduction to yoga. Its 20-minute yoga workout maximizes the movements of the spine and Yee carefully demonstrates the back-strengthening yoga postures, sometimes using a chair (sitting in it or standing and propping one foot on it). His form is beautiful, his explanations clear. If you're a beginner, realize that you cannot begin to approximate his degree of flexibility. Your goal is not to get as deeply into each posture as the instructor, but to reach your own comfortable limit. Cautions are given for pregnant women. --Joan Price ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for bad backs
I have a bad back due to an accident. It makes it hard to get around. I'm also overweight. other videos hurt my back or were too complicated with the moves.

I decided to give yoga a try.
Rodney Yee's video was AMAZING. He doesn't talk while doing the yoga- he has a voice over that goes along with you. He is not annoyingly peppy nor is he so boring that you want to fall asleep. His voice is relaxing in just the right way.

The positions are simple enough for ANYONE to understand. I got it my first time through. Most of the movements were so easy to do that I could focus on doing them rather than looking at the TV trying to figure it all out. Also, they recommend that you have a yoga strap to do these poses, you can easily use a belt, piece of rope etc. I didn't have to buy anything extra to do all the positions in this video.

I have discovered that I really like yoga- my back felt GREAT after I was done. I will buy more of Rodney Yee's yoga videos and I recommend that any yoga beginner's & people suffering from back pain try this video.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but be careful!
Be careful when doing this video! If you are like me, your back is okay a good majority of the time, but occasionally, you "throw your back out" and spend 3-5 days recovering(thus the need for continual back care exercises). I tried this video as part of my "recovery" and severly injured my lower back muscles. During a few of the exercises, I experienced severe burning pain. I rationalized this by thinking I was using/stretching muscles that aren't normally exercised. I thought this might actually be a good thing. I tried the tape again a second day and experience the same problems. Finally I wised up and stopped using the tape. I went back to my old recovery exercises(pelvic tilt, crunches, stretching, etc). It took 2 months before my muscles finally started to recover. I'm still not back to 100% and it's almost been 3 months.

I do plan on using this tape again once I'm fully recovered. I can tell from what I've seen, this would be a good tape for back care. He does move pretty quickly through the exercises so it will take you a couple of times before you can keep up.

Remember, if you feel pain, don't continue the exercise!

5-0 out of 5 stars Twenty minutes well-spent
These comments respond to several made in earlier reviews.

This video does more for my back pain than any medication doctors prescribed. It's a good idea to pre-view a new exercise video before you start. For this one you'll need a chair and a fabric strap of some kind (I use a bathrobe belt). Any exercise coach worth their salt will tell you if it hurts, don't do it. I certainly don't have the flexibilty Rodney displays, so I just do what I can and know that over time things will improve.

When it's time to rewind, only go as far back as the beginning of the exercise segment so you don't have to watch the disclaimers and promotional announcements over and over.

3-0 out of 5 stars Back care to keep your healthy back healthy
From my personal and professional experience I can tell: this is not recommended if you ve a serious back problem, in that case go for "Somatics"...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for Back Flexibility-With a Tummy Tuck Bonus!
I have been using this video for some time, and have found it to be a great way to stretch and strengthen the muscles in my back, especially my lower back. I have what is primarily a desk job, and this video has helped improve my posture significantly, as well as helping with my flexibility. As an added bonus, as my lower back muscles became stronger and posture improved, I noticed that my stomach was pulled in tighter and my spine was straighter. I highly recommend this video to anybody who sits at a desk all day-use it every other day for two weeks and see how you feel.

Rodney Yee uses a clear style of presentation, but be sure to watch the video through a couple of times before trying it, so you don't keep trying to twist around and see what he's doing. The postures are done with a chair, and I found that a basic, plain old kitchen table chair worked great. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It's great to walk three miles in your living room!
I have a reasonably large library of exercise videos and must rate this as one of my favorites. The workout is a good one in that I really work up a sweat and can feel the burn, yet it is easy to follow with good cues and steps that aren't too complicated. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't just exercise my legs, but also my arms, waist, and pretty much everywhere else, too. I also like the fact that it is possible to do the exercises with or without weights and can vary the intensity by making bigger or smaller movements. I am an avid walker, but living in New England means that I can't always actually walk outside so being able to get three miles in my living room is a very good thing! The only negative is that Leslie just plain talks too much which I find annoying at times. Fortunately, though, since you don't need every ounce of gray matter to follow the movements, it is easy enough to tune her out on those mornings when I would rather just exercise and not hear Leslie's banter.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love These Tapes and got Great Results!!
Okay, everyone, i've been reading all of the reviews and would like to say something first of all: Leslie is not annoying. shes a lovely instructor and a bit dorky but shes her own unique person and is great when it comes to this workout. i just watch what she does and listen to music. if you have a problem with it then do that too. its very simple. so to all of you complainers: get over it. I've been doing these tapes for 3 weeks and within 2 weeks i lost 8 pounds. may i add that a dedicated diet that suits you is also very effective. i am 16 years old...and i've had a medical problem for 2 years and never thought i'd get rid of weight. since i started these tapes i am motivated to loose and cant wait to reach my goal. (i started at 200 and im 5'6 which is not healthy for my age) now im 192 and it keeps going down and down and everyone i know is saying how fit im looking. it makes me feel great. if you have 30 minutes a day then i suggest that this will work great for you. also if you have a medical problem and need to start slow and everything the 1 mile would be perfect for you for a while but i do 2 miles a day and it is working great so make sure you get this tape if you are interested!!!!!!!!~

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Leslie Sansone Workout
Leslie is the "Queen of In-Home Walking." This is different than walking on a treadmill, but seems equally effective. You can also walk any day of the year, rain or shine, day or night. There are no limits.

Leslie travels all over the world promoting fitness and holds six certificates from the American College of Sports Medicine. She also owns Club Fitness and makes appearances on the QVC Home Shopping Channel.

After trying a few of Leslie Sansone's workouts, this is now my favorite workout.

This Super Fat Burning - 3 Mile workout took me to new places in my fitness level. I really saw some good results in the stomach area. I had to keep looking in the mirror to make sure it was true. This workout firms the upper and lower body, improves coordination and balance and boosts cardio strength. (47 minutes)

Since I'm not the queen of coordination, the Leslie Sansone workouts allow me to exercise without worrying about fancy footwork. If you can stand in one place and move forward, back and put your arms up and down, you can do this! Therefore, this is really for anyone! The use of weights really takes this video to a new level. This workout really does tighten and tone you all over.

I highly recommend this workout or the three workout set with weights. This workout is for anyone starting a new workout program or for anyone who just wants to have a little fun with their workouts. You just become one of the group and Leslie creates a very friendly, accepting environment. I really started to look forward to working out in such a positive environment and enjoy being in the presence of some positive energy, plus it gave me an added boost of "I can do this." The music also just keeps you moving!

If you have a 5' x 7' space anywhere near a TV, these are perfect. You don't need a lot of room like many aerobic videos require.

Leslie's workouts that add a smiley burst of energy to your day. If you are on your couch, you better be looking out for Leslie Sansone cause she is going to "come over and get you" off that couch! At least that is what she says. ;)

I sent my aunt the 1-mile workout and she now says that
she does the workout with my little second cousin who is
now living at her house. So apparently even kids love
    Leslie's workouts. ;)

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite of all 4 of Leslie's workouts (so far!)
Last fall, when I first heard about Leslie's workout tapes, I bought the 3-DVD set of the 1-mile, 2-mile and 4-mile DVDs. I was able to move quickly from the 1-mile to the 2-mile, but going from there to the 4-mile proved much more challenging. I thought I'd try a 3-mile as a middle step until I could easily get through the 4-mile and bought this one earlier this year.

I love it! Things I like alot: 1) there are more people participating in the workout than in my other Sansone DVDs; 2) Leslie has MUCH more interaction with the people in the workout than in my other Sansone DVDs; 3) the set/studio where the DVD is filmed is a hundred times better than those in the other Sansone DVDs I have; 4) the transitions in music/pace are a hundred times better than in the other Sansone DVDs I have; 5) the music, while not hugely inspiring, is good; and 6) while it's a shallow and silly thing, this DVD is MUCH more up-to-date than the others and I don't have to look at terribly outdated workout outfits and hairdos anymore. :)

I have no major dislikes. After watching/listening to the DVD repeatedly over a course of months, there are LITTLE things that bug me like the fact that Leslie so often refers to "the girls" and ignores the fact that there is a man participating (Randy). I noticed that Randy was dressed differently than the girls (their outfits are all in a matching color scheme and by the same company), so I wondered if maybe Randy was a "fill-in" for someone who couldn't make it at the last minute and therefore Leslie was used to it being all girls and kept forgetting he was back there (he was in the back row).

All in all, a WONDERFUL exercise tool!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for those days...
when you don't want to think about it. I alternate this tape with other workouts (elliptical trainer, walking outdoors, biking) and it's a nice variation. The weights give it just enough "umph" and even when I'm unmotivated, I can usually make myself do this tape. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Full blown comedy with a killer cast
Meet the Parents is one of the best comedy movies to hit the shelves in recent years. With an all-star cast including Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro, and the one and only Owen Wilson, this movie delivers the laughs perfectly!

Greg Focker, male nurse, is about to propose to Pam, his "special friend" of ten months, when he hears about her recently engaged sitster, whose husband to be made the right move and asked her father first. Now he's got to do the same, which means he's got to meet the parents. And with the plot set, the laughter ensues...

What really makes this movie work is the characters we can all relate to. First there's Greg, who is desperately trying to win the parents' approval, but somehow manages to screw up everything he possibly can along the way. And to make matters worse, he's got to to deal with Pam's ex fiance while he carries out this death sentence of a weekend. And then there is Pam, whose father is well...just a little strange to say the least.

Also, Owen Wilson is just insane in this and the movie is worth it for his performance alone, not to mention being able to see DeNiro do a comedy this good.

See it for the laughs, see it for the cast, see it for the experience, because this is one of the best lately. And if that is not insentive enough, I leave you with a quote..."Well I have nipples Focker, could you milk ME?"

2-0 out of 5 stars Skip This Meeting
Stale, unoriginal humor is the downfall of this take-it-or-leave-it Ben Stiller comedy. Stiller plays male nurse Gaylord Focker (whose name is the inspiration for at least a quarter of the movie's jokes), a hapless soul whose attempts to propose to his girlfriend (Teri Polo) are interrupted by a phone call announcing her sister's engagement. This leads to the wedding trip, and Stiller's opportunity to meet the parents.

What follows are a series of mildly amusing situations and one-liners, none of which you'll probably be itching to repeat at work tomorrow. Owen Wilson is a bright spot, as usual, playing Polo's ex-fiance. He also delivers the best line in the movie, a deadpan joke about the inspiration for his hobby, carpentry. Robert DeNiro and Blythe Danner, however, are both too woefully underchallenged to be able to turn in memorable performances.

The DVD's extra features include the standard outtakes, commentaries, and deleted scenes, as well as interactive personality quizzes which are fun to take but whose answers seem somewhat random. Overall, Meet the Parents is only worth renting if you're desperate to see a movie and this is the just about only thing left on the video store shelves.

4-0 out of 5 stars Calamity after calamity - Very Funny
"Meet the Parents" is funny, outrageous, and full of fun. Pratfalls and pitfalls await our comic star Ben Stiller as he pursues his love and ingratiates himself with his father-in-law to-be, Robert DeNiro. DeNiro is a crazed, over protective, retired CIA agent who zealously protects his daughter from her would-be suitor.

Calamity follows calamity, and the sight gags cascade until the end unwinds all the zaniness in a satisfying ending. It is a lot of fun with several belly laughs thrown in for good measure.

1-0 out of 5 stars Oh no, no, no, no, no, it's not very good. Way over rated.
This movie is not funny, just dumb. Is saying "focker" over and over and over again really that funny? I'm sorry, folks, but NO, it's just not all that funny, and this is the same dull plot that we've seen over and over again in the movies and on tv. Not recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unwatchable
I wanted to leave the theater halfway through this garbage but I already ponied up my $8. Predictable gag after predictable gag after predictable gag, this movie made me hate Ben Stiller. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great beginner/intermediate workout!
The 8-Minute Abs video is a great way to get started with a home ab-workout. Instructor Jaime Brenkus is excellent with motivation and cue-ing. The 8 minute length of the workout fits into almost everyone's schedule. As you get in better shape, you can just do it twice for a 16-minute workout!

4-0 out of 5 stars Got some spare time?
I am an "advanced beginner" in aerobics who has been exercising regularly for the past year-and-a-half. Until recently, I have used a daily workout shown to me by a friend who is much more experienced. The routine had excellent results for my back, legs, and rearend, but I have had a frustrating time with my stomach. I am not at all overweight, but my stomach has had too much dimension. About three months ago I decided to try a new routine for the sake of my belly and purchased the 8 minute workout because there has always been so much talk about it. The exercises in the video are challenging enough and Jaime Brenkus does wonderfully in keeping each exercise to the point without preaching. I still have some way to go with my abs, but they are becoming more and more defined. I am also surprised by how well the exercises have added muscle to the rest of my body, particularly the arms and chest. I am feeling a lot more confident now and recommend it to anyone who can spare about ten minutes of their day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great workout video!
I bought this video about a year ago along with the 8minute buns video. 16 minutes a day was all it took to get my body into shap. I could actually feel it working the first day after using this video. My tummy ached, my buttocks ached but a few days went by and it soon went away. Why did it ache? Because my muscles were actually being strengthed, techniques in this video works! If you haven't exercised in a long time, look out because this video gives your body a workout. For under 20 bucks and under 20 minutes a day, this workout is so much cheaper than joining a gym! Get a friend or your partner to work out with you, it's fun :) I really recommend this video pack if you want to get you're serious about getting your bod in shape for the summer. I'm a happy camper.. 8 minute abs and 8 minute buns worked for me! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Get That 6-Pack Back
After reading through the comments for this video, I have to agree that this is the best ab workout I have found. I played sports throughout high school and college, but now that I've graduated, I find myself going to the gym less often. This video has helped put me back on my fitness schedule and I use it as motivation to get back into the gym. The video does go by fast and I'm already beginning to see the definition in my stomach come back again. If you're looking for a quick, effective program for your stomach, I couldn't recommend anything else.

5-0 out of 5 stars Low quality video, but high quality exercise!
I love 8 minute abs. It works, okay?

A reviewer here complains "It just seems like this video was poorly made with amateur video equipment". Yeah. It isn't in THX or Dolby Digital either, so I guess the exercises suck. I need a sharp picture and surround sound to exercise my abs!

He/She continues, "I have used the tape about 15 times and it is already showing signs of wear (i.e. ripples in the tape, as if the tracking were off)". After fifteen times I was more impressed by the ripples subtly appearing on my abdomen than the ones on the tape! There's nothing that burns like sitting up in a crunch to adjust the tracking on my VCR. :)

Honestly, after using this for a small amount of time, what happens to the tape after repeated use is moot. Speaking for myself, I have the routine memorized and can do it without even bothering with the tape anymore. Can anyone else memorize an 8 minute routine after enough use, or is it just me?

Another dude says "I really didn't notice any improvement in my ab department after a month and a half of use." How much blubber covers your abs? Do you diet well? Do you do other exercises or is "8 Minute Abs" the beginning and end of your workout? Anyone thinking this or ANY routine without a proper diet or fat burning routine (cardio) is going to miraculously make you look like the guy on the cover of the video is nuts.

In conclusion, I have found 8 minute abs to be a quick, but powerful routine to apply to my overall workout and a high protein, low carb diet. The results are unquestionable and though the producer didn't spend a lot of money making the video, you don't have to spend a lot to buy it, so what's the problem? This is a very worthy routine for anyone who is serious about developing their abs, but smart enough to realize that it is not going to be the single reason for the results it helps you achieve. You won't find any tape here that will. ... Read more
