1-0 out of 5 stars PURE GARBAGE!!
Excuess me people. But I made the unfortunete mistake of purchasing this bit of "FILTH".....After the first 30 seconds of viewing...I "Ripped it to PIECES"....GARBAGE!! is a poor explanation of this;......Mistake of film. Does not even have the "Class" of, "Lord of the Flies." Either verson English or American. This is nothing but a "Nude Romp" on an obscure Italian Beach by Children who's parents should be HORSE WHIPPED for allowing their sons to particiapte in this....Poorly made, poorly filmed, Horse Dung covered film.
If this is an example of what Directors and Producers "Think" people want to view?.....Than the "West" is surely in trouble.
Allowing for the fact that it is a foreign film?..I tried to think of it objectively.....If you want to see a truely "Good" Foreign Film?...Then watch, "The Lamb".....At least this movie? Has some Class.....And not a "Lot" of; "A--"!!
Buyer Beware, unless you have a really strong stomach.....Or a really "Bad" need.
Don't make the same mistake I made......This film is SICKENING to say the least.

1-0 out of 5 stars THE WORST "GAY" FILM
I saw this attempt to make a "movie" when it was first released theatrically.

The premise--sort of a "gay" "Lord of the Flies"--is dashed by non-existent direction, script, acting etc. What you end up with is endless scenes on the beach of barely clothed pubscent "boys." (...) There is no sex.

Total disaster.

If you want to see films about young people dealing with gayness, stick with classics such as the masterful, "For a Lost Soldier" or the touching, terrifying and insightful "L.I.E." or the still wonderful, "You Are Not Alone," a gay "Zero for Conduct."

Anyone paying (...) for this atrocity will, rightfully, want their money back. Unless, you want to see scantly clad boys wander for over an hour along the seashore. If that's your trip, this is what you want. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Joyous Celebration
It has been years since I saw this quite competent and surprisingly delightful fiim at the movies. Others here have gone into the plot and brief nudity in the film.

This film was widely acclaimed by the then usually homophobic press. I decided to see it after watching a t.v. show with Charles Champlin, former film critic of the L.A. Times. He was impressed with the simplicity and honesty of
"You Are Not Alone" and so was I and several gay friends I saw it with.

While certainly not a masterpiece, it is an excellent film. Few films then or since have captured the exhilarating joyous feeling of rebellious freedom on "coming out" that the climatic scene in this does.

It was very much a fantasy ending then as it is now. But, I believe such celebrations of liberation can and do happen.

"You Are Not Alone" is quite worthy of everyone's attention.

If you can see it, do so. Most won't be disappointed.

3-0 out of 5 stars Struggles to find direction.
This movie is fairly watchable, but it lacks any real plot and is a bit disjointed. Although the main focus is on the love between two boys, there is very little beyond a few lustful glances, until the end scene where they share a long kiss. This kiss, however, is unconvincing, never shown in close up, and the boys seem unable to find each others mouths.

There is some incidental nakedness, and the actors are pleasant enough to watch, but when the movie is over you tend to wonder what it was all about.

However, it is a good time filler and captures the feel of the 1970s.

4-0 out of 5 stars You Are Not Alone
You Are Not Alone is a wonderfully tender movie about a 12 year old boy (Kim)coming of age. It is set in a boys boarding school in Denmark where 12 year old Kim's father is the school master. Kim lives in a seperate house with his parents on school grounds but quickly forms friendships with a number of the boaders, one in particular is 15 year old Bo who recognises Kim as special. A friendship ensures that leads to Kim sneaking out of his bedroom into Bo's bed in the middle of the night.

There is a shower scene where Bo and Kim get lathered up and have a bit of fun but nothing too overt. The emphasis in this film is the tender and mutual relationship that develops between the boys.

Kim and Bo decide to come out and show the rest of the school and Kim's parents a video they made about thier relationship that concludes with a long and passionate kissing scene.

A woderful and delicately made coming of age film that is done tastefully. The emphasis in this film is on the mutual and tender relationship between Kim and Bo. A must for your collection if you can get hold of a copy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent instructional video
This Stott Pilates video is excellent for basics of pilates. Moira Stott offers clear instruction for every abdominal exercise. When starting out, most people don't realize how crucial proper technique is, and Moira Stott gives detailed explanations of each movement without being too complicated or wordy. This video is fun, and most importantly, I've lost inches in my abdominal area by using it just a few times a week. 4-0 out of 5 stars Tom and Lola (Tom et Lola)
Story about 2 children whose immune systems are tragically damaged and have to live in separate plastic bubbles. But isolation and distant hospital technicians can not inhibit the beguiling spirit and supernatural bond between them. There is plenty of child nudity with many front and rear views. Later on they meet up with 3 other kids (all nude) and have a nice time playing together. If you liked "The Boy In The Plastic Bubble" or like child nudity this movie is for you. You should also consider The Annunciation and Pretty Baby.

As with all gatekeeper reviews, the focus is on nudity, sex and violence, something that is of interest to everyone but seldom commented on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Decent family movie
This movie was very subtle in the story. The young American boy must overcome the loss of his family and at the same time dealing with finding himself alone on a desert Isle. He befriends another young boy that had been living on the island for a time and the two work toward mutual survival. A clean family friendly version of Robinson Caruso. A bit of nudity here and there but very tastefully done and would not be traumatic for the younger crowd to watch. You must see this movie! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible film!
"Chronicle of a Boy Alone" ("Cronica de un nino solo") from Argentina, was one of the most harrowing and gut-wrenching films I've ever seen. The director uses a unique approach when it comes to filming. Instead of jumping back and forth from one camera-angle to another, he chooses to use a single camera in many scenes, panning in or out as the scene requires.

The little 11 year-old-boy in this film experienced a total loss of human-parental contact, and this void in his life became too much for the child.

Being from the U.S., we are not accustomed to viewing scenes like the ones we occasionally see in this film. The orphanage scenes are emotionally impactful. When the two little boys decide to go swimming, they soon find themselves being chased from their swimming hole by older kids. During their escape, we see the two boys completely unclothed for several minutes of the film. The director does not attempt to film these pre-teen boys from behind or the waist up, but instead chose to film the boys with a single camera from in front of these children.

I wish I could say this film had a happy ending. Sadly, it reminds us of the plight of so many children in our world. Although filmed many years earlier, this movie resembles the classic Brazilian movie "PIXOTE" about another 10-year-old boy.

Overall, I would recommend this film to anyone who needs an emotional burst of energy, to be thankful for the things we have in this life, and in the environment in which we live.

5-0 out of 5 stars Banned by the Argentinian government
CHRONICLE OF A BOY ALONE Banned by the Argentinian government for nearly thirty years, CHRONICLE OF A BOY ALONE is a searing indictment of a fascist regime running roughshod over its most vulnerable citizens - its children. Focusing on the bleak life of Polin, a boy abandoned by his family and sent to live in a state-run orphanage, it is also a moving protrait of the human spirit imprisoned by the chains of well-intentioned fools. For inside the harsh confines of the supposedly benefical institution, Polin and his friends must deal with constant physical and psychological abuse as well as the emotional tensions brought on by their own burgeoning adolescence. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very good, but definitely not a popcorn movie...
This movie is set in Khrushchev-era Soviet Russia. It tells the story of an eighth-grade boy who gets arrested and imprisoned through no fault of his own.

Most of the movie takes place inside a jail. While the movie is not full of OZ-like gratuitous violence and over-the-top drama, the director is very graphic and manages to impart to the viewer the grinding despair and suffering the boy endures.

I see this movie as a commentary on the hardships endured by people living under Soviet rule. It is as interesting for what it shows as for the fact that it was allowed to be made at all while the Soviet Union was still intact. That the movie is set in the Khrushchev era likely made easier to make.

If you do a internet search on this movie, you'll find two main groups of references to it: those pertaining to its educational value as a product of an insight into the Soviet Russia (it is included in several university courses), and, oddly enough, those pertaining to the "extensive" male nudity it.

As to the latter, there really isn't extensive male nudity in this film. As you might expect with any realistic movie that takes place in a prison, there is some male nudity, but it is hardly "extensive." So I wouldn't buy the film for that purpose.

As to the former, after watching this film and another somewhat similar film about a boy imprisoned in Soviet Russia titled "Freedom is Paradise," I believe I have some sense of the stoic attitude toward authority that many Soviet people had. And I think I finally have some idea why people that I have known that grew up under the Soviet system continue to distrust the U.S. government even after living here for 15 years or more.

"Lessons at the End of Spring" is worth watching if you are interested in what life in the Soviet Union was like. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Annunciation (Angyali udvozlet)
I do not appreciate having my review censored. The review is honest, appropriate and provides potential buyers with needed information. If you're going to censor it again, then just remove the entire review.

THE ANNUNCIATION sends twelve-year-old Adam on an existential odyssey through time and space. He becomes a general in Athens, a crusader in Byzantium, Danton during the French Revolution, and a witness to plague and poverty in London. As guided by a deceptively sweet, ultimately contemptuous Lucifer, Adam confronts an endless procession of rapists and concubines, betrayal and savagery, mindless cruelty and fanaticism. Superbly photographed, colorfully costumed and stunningly acted, THE ANNUNCIATION makes Pasolini-like use of its youthful cast to illustrate the horror and irrationality of our times.

There is plenty of child nudity (front and rear views) in this movie. Most of it is during the first part of the move and towards the end. In addition you get plenty of shots of eve's chest and there is a very intense scene where she and Adam share biting and chewing the same piece of apple. The choice for Adam and Eve were right on and their bodies are nice to look at and they can act as well. As a matter of fact, many of the child actors put on great performances.

As with all gatekeeper reviews, the focus is on nudity, sex and violence. These are areas which no one else seems to comment on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better then any book
After reading two books and tons of magazine articles on the subject and not having any success finding the elusive pleasure spot we were convinced that perhaps the whole G Spot thing was just a myth. My wife heard about this tape on the radio and ordered it. I must be honest, I did not hold out much hope. What a pleasant surprise I was about to get. " A Guide To the G Spot", is just that, Dr. Linda De Villers is very professional while having a sense of humor about the whole thing. Great 3D animation and latex molds Guide you right to the G Spot. Dr Linda and the real couples featured in the video give you insight into different techniques. The demonstration scenes were very tasteful and erotic and helped get us into the mood. By the time the tape was finished we had found my wife's G Spot and experienced a whole new aspect to our love life. There is a G Spot! And this tape " A guide to the G Spot and EXTREME Multiple Orgasms" is the only thing we found that actually showed us the way.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great gift for newleyweds
We got this tape as wedding gift. I thought it was a gag Gift. My new wife and I had been trying to find her G spot for about a year. All our friends seem to know were it was and they were enjoying multiple orgasms. My wife's best friend's boyfriend told me how to get to the G spot, But no luck, so three weeks after our honeymoon my wife asked me if I would watch it with her.
The video is very well produced Dr. Linda seems very nice and speaks simply. What were most helpful were the latex models and 3d animation takes you inside the woman to show you where it is and how to stimulate it.Everyday couples relate their problems and made it easy to connect with. Although many people have told us how to find the GSpot this Video was the only thing that helped us find it. We should have taken it on our Honeymoon

5-0 out of 5 stars A Guide to the G Spot & Extreme Multiple Orgasms
Dr. Linda De Villers does a wonderful job in describing the G spot. We found this video very informative and educational. It was presented very tastefully. Me and my husband have been having so much fun exploring the G spot. I would recommend this video to all couples.

2-0 out of 5 stars Whatever
This video is so mediocre it's not even funny. If you want to really learn about the g-spot and it's related super-intense pleasures for women, there is an excellent book by Tom Leonardi called "Secrets of Sensual Lovemaking" that REALLY covers this material thoroughly and with obvious first-hand knowledge and specifics that will get you There. Likewise, the videos "New Sex Now" and "New Free Sex" also do an excellent job with this material, and as video presentations, offer even more to men who like this type of visual explanation/demonstration. This Guide by Linda De Villers will only leave you lusting for something more...

2-0 out of 5 stars There's gotta be a better G spot video out there
There's a lot of unnecessary fluff in this 52 minute video, and it takes WAY to long to get to the main topic. Some of the info is helpful, but a lot of specifics were left out. There's got to be a better, more informative video on the subject. My advice---keep looking!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tragically hysterical. Or is it hysterically tragic?
It's both. It's "Dancing Outlaw" and it may very well be the scariest film ever made.

Dancing Outlaw" is the true story of Jesco (Jescoe, Jessco?) White, the most ignorant, backward, and flat out insane hillbilly to ever cut a rug on top of a doghouse. Remember all of those jokes about West Virginians? Well, those people exist and Jesco is one of them. Jesco and wife make the average Jerry Springer guest look like Ward Cleaver.

Besides dancing, Jesco likes to pretend he is Elvis, huff paint, drink, and terrorize his pathetic wife (...So I held the butcher knife up to her neck, right? And I said, "Woman! What did I tell you about cooking them sloppy slimey eggs!?") Jesco is obviously mentally disturbed and that will make you feel even worse about laughing at him. Some might find this documentary to be a bit too cruel. However, I got the feeling that the filmakers actually kind of liked Jesco. It is true, though, that a pretty dark view of humanity is presented here. This is very black comedy and the fact that it is real actually just gives it all a tragic significance. There are a lot of Jescos out there. I have never been so horrified and so amused at the same time.

This tape is expensive; too expensive for me. If you have the money, grab it. This movie will be THE cult classic for years to come. I thought it was out of print, but there it is. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best foreign film ever made
This movie was originally released in Italy in two parts. "Noi Vivi" ("We're Alive") and "Adio Kira" ("Farewell Kira"). Set in post-revolutionary Russia, this film was originally encouraged for production by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini because he thought it was of an anti-communist nature. He later banned it because of the film's anti-totalitarian/pro-individual rights message. I would like to think that this movie helped plant the seeds that lead to Mussolini's downfall. Interestingly enough, film makers in Mexico released a good movie during the 1990s named "Herod's Law" which was reported to have contributed to the demise of Mexico's P.R.I. government in which the film exposed the corrupt practices of the P.R.I. to cinema audiences in that country. "Herod's Law" was subsidized by the Mexican government who later sold their interest in the film. I believe Ayn Rand saw "We The Living" too before she died and she loved it. My family on my dad's side lived in Italy when Mussolini was dictator and I am involved in the libertarian movement so I appreciated this movie on two angles. While I wish the movie wasn't so long and expensive to purchase, I think, all-in-all, it is the best foreign film ever made! Everything else about this film is wonderful and belongs in any serious movie goer's collection. I hope at some point a DVD version of this movie can be done too. If more of films like this interest you, in addition to "Herod's Law" I also recommend "Bitter Sugar" done by director Leon Ichaso which takes place in Cuba and "The Official Story" which takes place in Argentina and won "Best Foreign Film" at the Academy Awards during 1984. To the cast and crew of this film: "Bravo dove mai lei sono!"

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment is the name of the game
This film, obviously based upon Ayn Rand's book of the same name, is an extreme disappointment.
It might be worth [something], but nowhere near [what]I paid for it.
It leaves out almost everything that made the book a vivid portrait of extreme hardship and poverty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than Dr. Zhivago
"We The Living" combines the best of the young Romantic Ayn Rand, with movie making that could only be done by Italians. Be prepared to fall in love with Kira (Alida Valli), or with Leo (Rossano Brazzi). Being filmed in black and white with English subtitles only adds to the movie's allure.

With its love triangle, unusual plot twist and unrepentant romanticism, the political message is subtle compared to later Rand works such as "Atlas Shrugged." Like the poet Dr. Zhivago whose spirit was unconquered by the Soviet state, Kira is true to her belief in the value of her own individualism, and she never surrenders to collectivism.

Unlike "Dr. Zhivago", "We The Living" does not attempt to sugar coat the real nature of the Soviet State, and does not leave the audience with the false impression that Soviet life improved with the passage of time. "Dr. Zhivago" was made by a Hollywood sympathetic to the Soviets, while "We The Living" was not. Mussolini banned the 1942 movie which reveals the crushing effect of any totaliarian state on all but the strongest individuals.

If you thought "Dr. Zhivago" was romantic, epic and awe inspiring, you MUST treat yourself to "We The Living" which has a similar theme, but which surpasses it in every way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Alida Valli at her most alluring
This black and white version of Ayn Rand's 1936 novel is even more faithful to her work than Rand's own screenplay to Warner's 1949 'The Fountainhead.' This film can get talky at times, the snow in the Rome studios is obviously fake and the plot is sort of soap-operatic. That said, this movie is a rare treat to me, who fell in love with Valli when I saw her in 'The Third Man.' She's even more beautiful here, and has a complex lead role to boot. Her acting reminds me a lot of Ingrid Bergman's, and it is no wonder Selznick brought her to America after the war. Fosco Giachetti plays Andrei Taganov, and his steely resolve holds the tension throughout. The soundtrack, by Renzo Rossellini, is beautiful 1940s bombastic movie music, and lifts from Verdi and Puccini the way that Max Steiner and Alfred Newman borrowed generously from Wagner and Richard Strauss. Remember Rossano Brazzi from 'South Pacific'? He plays Leo Kovalensky, but is much younger and his baby-face makes it hard to take him seriously at times, but I believe it's because I can't shake my memories of him being much older in 'South Pacific.'

1-0 out of 5 stars On the Brink of Neo-Realism & Onward to Douglas Sirkisms
This movie is an underrated charmer & a hell of a lot more interesting than the mediocre novel it was based on (Rand was much better at writing razor-sharp, non-fiction essays). No one can do melodrama as well as the Italians of the pre-neo-realist period, with their operatic traditions and passionate sounding language colliding with the harsh realities of the war period and Mussollini fascism.

Here Italians get to play some unrealistic Russians, but they do it with so much conviction and passion, you don't care one bit! The message of Rand's anti-tyranny novel comes across beautifully through the cumulative force of the situations, the dramatic dialogue, and the elegant dramatic gestures used by Alida Valli, Rossano Brazzi, Fosco Grachietti and the rest of the superb cast, in showing you realistic internalizations of the many conflicts raging in people as a result of those historically based situations. The Italian actors of this period maintain a charming balance between utter naturalism and passionate going 'over-the-topisms'. The camera movements, style, and mythic distance of the film are also very impressive, not afraid to use the dreamy aspects of the cinematic illusion to full effect. As a further bonus, Renzo Rossellini's super-busy but always understated music adds that touch of surrealism & romantic existentialism that he would become famous for later in Roberto Rossellini's masterworks.

One of the reasons it probably works as well as it does is because it was made right on the brink of the neo-realist revolution without the knowledge of Rand herself, who might have unwittingly stifled its more poetic and crazy aspects in favor of more 'philosophy' had she been involved. She loved it later, some forty years later, when she discovered a print (Mussolini's government had confiscated all prints and the negative), which shows her good judgment after the fact, and that, some remanants of a true artist and a philosopher were still left in her, even when the Objectivist movement itself had turned into a cult. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars actually not a cannibal movie
i've seen many of those cannibal movies, and this movie hasn't got any cannibalism in it. tribes and gory scenes though.

i think the artwork shown here is terrible, my release is from Italian Shock and it has the original retro artwork. go for that release instead.

the movie is beautiful, with a wonderful soundtrack, and though it contains a lot of violence it is a very touching flake. if we shall call this a cannibal-movie, this is maybe the most serious movie of them all - next to cannibal holocaust.

this movie does not contain the awful mass of authentic animal killing scenes, that for example that scum Umberto Lenzi used to use in his films (cannibal ferox, eaten alive, man from the deep river). this is a low bugdet, high quality motion picture.

if you ask me, a like this movie most among those "cannibal"-movies. second comes "emanuelle and the last cannibals" and third comes "cannibal holocaust".

5-0 out of 5 stars Fine Cannibal Film
I have almost all of the cannibal movies ever made and this is one of the most original. A girl takes a boat voyage with her parents, aunt and uncle. Her parents are killed with blowguns. A tribe of natives takes the girl captive and a warrior takes a particular liking to her, but it is said he killed her parents. There's a twist ending that wraps it up, and shouldn't be too surprising unless you forgot some big continiuity at the beginning. The girl is modestly hot and topless through most of it. This is a must-see for fans of cannibals. I guess this version by Shock-O-Rama is an official release, as it's listed here on Amazon.com.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hmmm?.
This movie is basicly too lousy too be watched at all. The plot is boring and the gore and sex that might make one forget about that is badly made and occurs too rarely.
Yawn. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Learning Tai Chi Sword
Master Shou-Yu Liang does an outstanding job of showing the Tai Chi Sword form in 4 sections with 6 to 8 parts in each. He shows the front and back view as well as repeating each part 4 times. This method is good if you are following video as you learn. This way you will be able to repeat each part 4 times with the video. I especially like the background music (soft classical paino), stage setting and lighting with Tai Chi uniforms. You can see full body moves which helps when trying to understand the stance and arm and leg positioning. I would recommend this video to anyone interested in learn the Tai Chi Sword form.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like in a class
This video is really good. It covers the standard 32 postures serie. I fully agree with the previous other reviewers. In addition to more highlight the video, I'd like to say that each movement is repeated 4 times but not just "copy-paste" the same sequence, it is really performed 4 different times so that you can notice small differences in different part of the movement that help you to better understand the movement itself. What I also really appreciate is the fact the movements are shown in both front and back view. This is great since the back view puts you in the same condition as in a class (back to the teacher) without haveing the mirror problem. The only point is that I'd have appreciated some application of the movement.
In conclusion the video really puts you as in a class. The only limitation is that it can not correct you........

5-0 out of 5 stars I totally agree with Donald L Graham's review
I spontaneously enrolled in a Tai Chi Sword class excitedly waiting for the first instruction and when it came it was in Chinese ... "oops". It was too beautiful to pass up so I stayed. I frantically looked for instruction, written or otherwise, and when I gambled on this video I was blessed. I was able to keep up with the class because the video was very similar to my instructors' 32 steps except for one additional move. Although I prefer my instructors' style and grace because she looked like she was floating on air, this video helped me complete the course with confidence and most of all - joy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical and Logical Presentation
Found the quality of the video and sound good. Lighting was good and camera angles excellent so that precise motions could be easily followed. I liked the presentation of the lessons. There is plenty of repitition of each segment of each form. One doesn't need to keep rewinding the tape to catch something missed. Doesn't get bogged down in detailed explanations, but lets the action of demonstation speak to us. There are front and back views and each part is demonstrated at least four times before connecting with the other segments. I really like it and find it extremely helpful as a great supplement to actual instruction. In a pinch I could use it for primary instruction if necessary. ... Read more

Description

Heralded as a masterpiece of animated art, this timeless film tells the inspirational story of a solitary shepherd who patiently plants and nurtures a forest of thousands of trees, single-handedly transforming his arid surroundings into a thriving oasis. Undeterred by two World Wars, and without any thought of personal reward, the shepherd tirelessly sows his seeds and acorns with the greatest care. As if by magic, a landscape that seemed condemned grows green again. A film of great beauty and hope, this story is a remarkable parable for all ages and an inspiring testament to the power of one person. The author, Jean Giono, created the story "to make people love the tree, or more precisely, to make them love planting trees," and to pay homage to an unselfish individual who leaves a positive mark on our planet. ...
