5-0 out of 5 stars Tamilee Webb is back in black
...

ABS OF STEEL PART TWO will challenge users of Tamilee Webb's first ABS OF STEEL without going too far. This time it's two 15-minute workouts instead of three 10-minute workouts. Either way, you get measurable results for just 10 or 15 minutes a day....

5-0 out of 5 stars Great ab video!!
This video has 2 15-minute workouts. It has ab work followed by push-ups. The exercises are very intense. Tamilee gives alternate movements depending on your level of fitness. This video is very challenging with quick results.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally something that REALLY works!
I owned this version of Abs of Steel years ago and it really worked. I would LOVE to re-order this tape, but it is currently not being released. How can I get this tape?

4-0 out of 5 stars Challenging
The video has two fifteen minute workouts. The first workout mostly deals with the upper and lower abdominals and includes 3 different sets of pushups in between segments of the ab workout. The second workout mostly centers on the oblique muscles with 2 different sets of pushups in between segments. These workouts made me quite sore the first time I did them and they are still a challenge. The only complaint I have is that the video only contains 2 different workouts (not much variety for those of us who want to work our abs more than twice a week!). The music is not that great either. However, this video is worth purchasing if you can find it!

5-0 out of 5 stars It may be trite, but it's true: Amazingly fast results
Of all of Tamilee's videos I've exercized to, this THE ONE that actually seemed to make my abs fall in line like I wanted them to. I saw major results (the waist in my shorts went from tight to loose) in two days, and I wasn't dieting!! I happened to first use the video when I visited a friend for a couple of weeks. Now she's lost it and I've been trying to get a copy for myself ever since. The routine had such dramatic results that I actually WANTED to do the video every day...and I am the least motivated exercizer I know. This is the only ab video that actually made me say "Wow, it really works!" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the moderatly overweight/moderately out of shape
I just got this DVD today and finished the workout a few minutes ago. I can definitly feel the burn in my abs, and I can tell my arms and legs will be a bit sore tommorrow! I am a 20 yr old college student, about 30 lbs overweight, not toned at all and pretty much out of shape but not completly (I can jog a 12 min mile and then I have to walk for a few minutes before I can even think of jogging some more). I found this video to be at a good level for me, and I think if I was less or more in shape it would still be good. I could do all of the exercises, although I could not get the full range of motion on a few (that was in part because while Denise reccomends 3-8lb weights, I only have 10 lbs). Denise talks constantly, and I found that motivating, although I would definitly not buy a yoga or other relaxing workout from her! The first 20 minutes uses free weights and the second 20 minutes uses a stability ball and free weights. The DVD does not pause in between the workout sections, but it is clear that if you only want a short workout, the time when Denise gets her stability ball is the time to stop the DVD. I did the first 20 min, made a 10 min phone call, and did the second 20 min. I am pretty sure I could have done the tape straight through with only a quick water break in the middle, although I was definitly breathing hard and sweating light-moderate. (The workout is not exactly cardio, but since I am out of shape, the effort of lifting weights and switching positions brought up my heartrate to where it would be maybe a minute or two into a slow jog)I also really liked that there were many excersizes to work each muscle and very few reps of each, so the muscle was worked for enough time without the movements getting to repetitive. I also liked how a boring movement such as arm curls with weights was made a little more bearable by rocking back in forth. Overall, I liked this tape and I feel it really worked my muscles, and as I strengthen I can increase the weight and range of motion and still be challanged.

5-0 out of 5 stars gotta be one of the best
Denise Austin is very motivational and unlike other exercise dvds I have used, she uses the most efficient techniques to work on my exact problem areas, and all within 45 minutes! I love the combination of stretching, pilates, weights, and balance ball. I never stick to exercise dvds but I think I will this one because I totally see the difference!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Effective!!!
Denise Austin is THE fitness icon of today! She is fun and motivating in this video. I am a Certified Personal Trainer and would highly recommend this video to anyone interested in getting fit without paying a huge sum of money! Denise Austin is easy to follow and using the ball and/or dumbbells is a great way to tone and burn fat. The video is about 40 minutes long and although it is not a "cardio" workout I could still feel my heart rate getting up there. If your thinking about purchasing this DVD, buy it!! I promise you will see results!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this video!
This video tape not only toned all of my problem areas, but gave me energy and confidence.

5-0 out of 5 stars Okay She Has an Annoying Voice...
It is not a cardio workout nor is it advertised as one. It is two separate twenty minute workouts. 1-20 minute using only weights and the other using weights and the stability ball. I use this to tone and for the abdominals. I use Jane Fonda Step Aerobic or Billy Blanks Cardio for a CARDIO workout. I am working out and really don't care about her voice. I can ignore it. ... When model Cindy Crawford wanted to trim down and firm up after thebirth of her baby, she chose trainer Kathy Kaehler, who had gotten herself back in shape after gaining 80 pounds with her twins. This program includes two short, easy workouts and one long one. Workout A (12 minutes) is a light-intensity routine, mostly stretching with some strength moves such as lunges and abdominal curls, nothing strenuous, with bland background music.

Workout B (16 minutes) includes cardio moves that are very simple and low-impact, such as knee lifts and marching, no choreography. You can use light hand weights if you want to add intensity, although your shoulders might fatigue before your large muscles. Workout B also includes strength moves such as squats, lunges (while picking up playing cards for a balance challenge), crunches, and pushups. Workout C is a full-body workout consisting mostly of muscle endurance with some segments of cardio. The cardio is more complex and intense than in Workout B, but not dancy--combinations of marches, squats, and kicks, for example, with or without hand weights.

The production is full of visual stimulation: constantly changing views--color or black-and-white, clear or grainy, insets, beach scene or workout room--and changing camera angles. The workout doesn't stand out as exciting, but it is solid, and if you saw Crawford's awful first workout video many years ago, you'll be thankful that she traded in Radu's unsafe, poorly designed routine for Kathy Kaehler's safe and sane one. --Joan Price ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This is great!
This is probably not for experienced exercise freaks but there are plenty of videos out there for them. I'm 38, out-of-shape, the mother of 8 and my body was starting to show it. I bought this tape on a whim and am I glad. I'm not a supermodel fan but Cindy comes across as just an ordinary new mom who wants to get back in shape. I don't know what she looked like before her baby, but she is a beautiful woman with breasts and curves - I'm tired of the stick-look (ala Allie McBeal.)

I've seen a big difference in my fitness level and strength - I alternate Workouts A & B (adding 20 min. exercise bike) with Workout C. I still can't do the push-ups but I'm starting to keep up with the rest of the video. I love the low-key approach, up-to-date outfits & music, and very professional production with interesting multiple camera shots. I also am really enjoying using weights - I worked my way up from one pound to three pound.

Any suggestions from anyone on what would be a good video to buy that has a similiar laid-back, calm, but challenging approach? I'd like to alternate with a more demanding routine as I really start to get in shape. I've given away all the bouncy, 80's, bubble-gum, complicated-dance-step videos that I never really used.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is not JUST for post pregnancy! GREAT for anyone!
I just got this tape and it is great. I have been working out for a couple of months and am in pretty good shape, and really wanted it for the third workout (the tape consists of 3 workouts A, B and C).
I love Cindy's first tape, and I really liked the fact that it wasn't a lot of aerobics, but mostly toning, the kind that makes you sweat, and it included a warm up and cool down. If you like her first tape you'll like this one; they are very similar in video editing and format, with a few similar moves. I didn't do work out A (10 mins for anytime, anywhere) or B (16 mins), both of which are shorter and easier than C.
C is a 40 minute workout that includes a warm up, then toning arms with weights in bicep curls, arm raises, tricep extensions, and many more to work all of your arm muscles (maybe 10 in all). Then you move on to working the legs by doing some squats, plies, kicks, butt exercises, and some non-impact aerobic moves while you hold your weights. There are many moves, all easy to do, and a good variety to keep you moving. Finally you work the stomach with about 5 different kinds of crunches. The video has mellow music (in the pop/rock genre)- not too fast and not dance music. There are a lot of different angles and shots during the workout (Cindy on the beach, in the studio, etc.) very aesthetically pleasing...
I definitely enjoyed the workout. Good for anyone just getting into a workout routine with the intro workout A, good for post-pregnancy, and good for those who have been working out to all kinds of tapes if you want something new and different.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Inspirational workout
I received this DVD yesterday and have used it twice. It is a pleasant surprise to see a workout by a supermodel that is so professional and interesting. There are attractive beach scenes in the background and the music is quite good. Cindy is a real inspiration to watch and you do the moves hoping to look a fraction as good as she does. The workout delivers a really good thorough toning and stretching workout. I like the variety of exercises and you feel as if you are getting a workout by your personal trainer. I think that in a few weeks I will see the benefits of this well thought out workout and I hope to be well toned and stretched.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for those getting back in shape
After a long hiatus from workouts, I tried some of my old tapes and they were way too arduous. This is nice because it allows you to regain your fitness slowly, carefully and safely. It's more than just for post-partum moms; I would recommend it for anyone who had a good level of fitness, stopped for awhile and now wants to get back into exercise. I really liked it.....and no pain the next day!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT workouts!! Has great results too!
I love this tape! I have tons of WO tapes and this one is just right. The three workouts, A, B, and C, are perfect. The first one, A, starts me out when I haven't exercised in a long time or I don't have time to get all sweaty but want to feel excercised and stretched. B is like A but more challenging and more like real excercise. Then C, well, lets just say I'm still working on that challenge. If I can do ALL of C one day I will look great! I am 5 months pregnant with my 3rd and still do the simple workout A (substituting leg lifts for abdominal work) and I love it. The kids even do it with me sometimes. It's relaxing and HAS RESULTS in just a few short weeks. That's the only tape Ive ever done that I can say did that and I enjoyed it too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great results in a short amount of time
-The instruction is clear and sensible, the music has a distinct beat that is easy to follow even if you're not looking at the TV, and you can work your way up gradually to doing the whole tape if you are a beginner. Tamilee Webb is motivating without whooping or being silly.
-People just starting out will get noticeable results just from doing the first few minutes of the workout every day or on alternate days. I had been doing the short abdominal sections on some of the Kathy Smith tapes for a few months, and became ready for something more challenging. This tape is just what I was looking for.
-It is very challenging to do both 15-minute programs all at once, but you can alternate or just keep doing the easier first program for a while. The noticeable increase in strength each time I do the workout is very motivating. The abdominal muscles can be worked every day, and they seem to shape up quickly.
-There are no back exercises on this tape to work the opposing muscle group, so after the workout I do several of those moves in which you lie on your stomach and lift the torso and limbs off the floor slowly, then some easy back stretches. (I have had minor back problems in the past, but this ab workout did not hurt my back.)
-The music is okay, with a clear beat. That helps when you're concentrating on what you're doing and not looking at the TV. But about 9 minutes into the tape, the music suddenly sounds like cats fighting -- I had to turn off the tape and go check on my cats! The quality of the exercises makes it worth putting up with those few minutes of weird noises, though.
-- To work your abs in different ways for a more thorough approach, rotate this tape with the following other videos: "Callanetics," "Karen Voight -- Abdominals & Back Pilates," "Karen Voight -- Great Weighted Workout (15-minute tough ab section near the end, using weights), and any kickboxing workout, such as "Tae Bo Live! Advanced"

5-0 out of 5 stars My abs definitely look better because of this tape
I am a longtime fan of Tamilee's workouts, especially her step aerobics tapes. This is the 1st Tamilee ab tape I bought, and I love it! It's so easy to motivate myself to do this tape...even if I'm tired and don't feel like working out, I just tell myself it's only 15 minutes, and once I get started I finish it! (There are actually two 15 minute workouts on the tape. Normally, I do one workout, but there have been times when I've gone through both. That's when you can really see/feel the results!) She says on the tape that you only have to do these a few times a week to see results, and she is right! I have committed to doing an ab workout every other day, and I am really happy with the way my abs look. I can definitely see a difference & my husband thinks my abs look the best they ever have!

I have to comment about the other reviewer who said this tape hurt her back. At first my back hurt with some of the exercises, but I discovered that was because of 2 reasons: I was arching my back during some of the moves and my back was not strong to begin with. This tape not only strengthens your abs, but your back. Combine it with "I want those arms" and your upper body will definitely become toned.

5-0 out of 5 stars it got my abs of steel sore the next day!
ok i don't really have abs of steel, but i do have to say i got pretty strong abs, and this tape still made my abs a little sore the next day!!
there are 2 programs, 1 easier, and 2 hard.
Both programs are 15mins long each.
The first set has 8-10mins of crunches of all sorts and then repeats the sets again for the total of the 15mins.
The second program has some more challenging sets that have been inspired by Jane Fonda.

5-0 out of 5 stars A teens advice
This video has two 15 minute work outs, and i just started today. But OHMYGOD! I cn feel all my muscles aching from all the work i have done! This really does work and it quite better than the Denise Austen collection. ALso The instuctor is very nice and nmot over peppy! PERFECT FOR A WORKOUT!
Although it might be hard for those who are really out of shape, buit its always good to start somewhere!

5-0 out of 5 stars It'll SMOKE ya and you'll see results quick!!! LOVE IT!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor and impatient
This video has good dance routines, as well as songs. Teh dance routine for "Windy", was the best. It made me feel good and free. That's the only part I like about the video.

The video is low-impact aerobics, and takes alot of dedication to see results. It took a very long time to see the benefits of this workout. I can see how this video can benefit very large people, because it isn't too straining on the body.

But if you have the energy and stamina to really shed excess weight off you body. Well then I would suggest you do this workout everyday. Even twice a day. A low-carb diet wouldn't hurt much. Because it will be some time before you see major results.

It's a good complimentry after you have done some weightlifting, but I wouldn't suggest this video to anyone.

IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Richard's Best!
I have just ordered a new copy of this video because I wore the old one out. I own almost every Richard Simmons video available, and this is still my all time favorite.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Start
I was 260 lbs and had just begun the atkins diet last february when I bought this tape (exercise is a must for atkins). I hated to exercise, but I found this tape delightful! It is quite a taxing workout if you are out of shape or obese, but after a couple of tries it is the perfect balance of sweat and fun. Without Richard I probably would never have become the devoted exerciser I am now. After a couple of months you'll need to switch to a more difficult tape (I recommend any of kathy smith's cardio tapes and tammi lee webb's Cardio Blast), but Richard is the best way to ease into an exercise routine.

4-0 out of 5 stars sweat and dance
Richard improved his first tape by adding more dance like steps on this one. Plus he added some weight training at the end. Much improved over SWTO #1. ... Read more

This 40-minute 1997 video presents fit and lean Denise Austin on a beach leading you and her two assistants (one man, one woman) through a muscle endurance and strengthening workout with weights. Depending on your level, you might choose weights of one to 10 pounds. You want your muscles to fatigue after Austin's 13 to 18 controlled repetitions of each exercise. This workout is more challenging and more technique-oriented then most of Austin's. Austin switches muscle groups non-stop until you've worked all your major upper- and lower-body muscles. She gives plenty of technique and alignment tips so that you know how to do each exercise correctly. You'll need a bench or some kind of platform for some of the exercises. You can grow with this video--as you get stronger, use more weight. --Joan Price ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, good for toning
By using this video, you will enjoy a good toning workout which can be easily increased in intensity by using heavier weights. Beware, though, of two things: 1) it is just over 45-minutes, and you MUST do the entire video (including warm-up and cool-down) or you will feel the pain! 2) there is one excercise in it that really requires a bench. I don't have one, but I substitute for it by doing another excerise. For all else, all you need are hand weights and a chair. Very fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent workout. Combined with aerobics, I lost 35 pounds.
Since having my second child, I started this workout combined with 30 minutes of running. I have seen excellent results. My overall body is toned and I lost 35 pounds. The background is soothing and Denise is a great motivator.

I highly recommend this video.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great video, even for pregnancy!
Before I got pregnant I was an avid "make me work" exerciser -- the more effort the better. This tape is great because I can still do it pregnant, I just tone down the exercises. It feels great to be able to do "regular" exercise while being pregnant. I feel like I'm doing more than in pregnancy videos. When I'm NOT pregnant, it will feel even better to get back to my usual routine since this is a very good workout. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars motivating
Denise has been at this for a long time. A long time. And she also went to collage for this for a long time. I trust what she says. I love her voice and she keeps me motivated. I could not get through a day of exercise if I knew I could not here her voice. She is always in shape. Always. I lost 60 pounds with the help of her and Jenny Craig in 6 months. My tummy never looked so good.

4-0 out of 5 stars Effective workout
One of the better Denise Austin workouts I've done (much better than her earlier ones filmed in studios - this one's set outdoors and has good picture quality), with a good mix of upper and lower body exercises. Not too demanding but good for overall toning. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Capitalism at its finest
Billy Blanks should be ashamed of himself. He is just using his name and slapping his face on video box covers. He has built good brand recognition and now he is capitalizing it to the max. Instead of making a true ab video that focuses solely on abs, Blanks and his production staff decided to piece together footage of his other videos. The editing is poor, at times not giving you time to transition into the next exercise, other times only working one side of your body. Save your money and buy a protien smoothie or an Atkins bar.

4-0 out of 5 stars Feel it burn
Okay.I love the tae bo series. They all give you an ultimate workout. This one is no exception. If you do tae bo and you don't feel the burn,or go through it easily the first time, your doing something wrong.Let it be your back is not straight,or your not lifting something high enough. This video is very fast with clips from all the best workouts for your abs.You will feel the burn definitley.I've been doing this tape faithfully for 2 months and my stomach is flat and tight. This is def. a tape for you if your looking for a hard workout.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Abs Workout
I found this tape of limited value. It is, like the rest of his "Ultimate workout series" a bunch of edited clips from of Billy's other tapes. Unfortunatly, the editing was not done very carefully and sometimes you end up working one side of your body, but not the other. There is one crunching section that is good, it is toward the end. That is the only reason I gave it 3 stars. What I do is go to the end and rewind to the point the crunch section begins. Then I Take out this tape, and put in one of the other full work out tapes like the Impact Full Contact workout and do that, then put this tape back in and do the crunch session to finish off my workout. Be warned, it does not give much stretching in between the individual crunch exercises. I don't know if this is intentional or not. It will start to show a stretch, but then cut to another exercise before the stretch is done. The ending cool down section is also kind of weak. It does some cool down stretches, but I would use another tape with a complete cool down section to end my workout with.

4-0 out of 5 stars edited together for abs abs abs and more abs!
ok, i know it hasnt come out, but I saw a clip of it, and letting everybody know whats in store with this video.
It is about 55 minutes long, and it is a compilation of all the 'live' volumes, i think volumes 2-12.
It wasn't redone, just all the volumes edited together.
It seems to be about 25mins of kicks and some other 20 or so on toning the abs.
It has many of the old moves, but some are slightly changed, maybe makes them more advanced than the old positions.
I just think they should had re-recorded these 'ultimate' series, because u can see the people's outfits change every few minutes! that is why i give it 4 stars and not the 5. ... Read more

I bought this video when it got too cold too walk outside and have really enjoyed working out with it. The steps are very basic and simple. You can quickly master them. The entire workout is only about 20 minutes so I am able to stay motivated and get it done every morning. I have been using it now for about a month and I haven't gotten bored with it at all. And best of all, along with cutting out sweets it has helped me lose almost 10lbs already! If you are just getting started or have trouble finding time for a workout I really recommend this tape. All you need is about 2 sq ft of space and some 1-2lb weights.

5-0 out of 5 stars A real Blessing
think Leslie Sansone has delivered what she promises... a series of walking tapes that burn calories at the quicker paces and help you see a progression in your level of fitness. I bought the 3-tape set that came with the weights; it contains this 1-mile workout and the following 2- and 3-mile workouts. They are really easy to follow and do get your heart rate up. Very low impact; great for those with bad knees or bad backs, whatever. My only complaint (and the reason why I can't give the whole set 5 stars) is because she does not spend enough time on stretching at the end of the video. The stretches are limited to deep breathing and reaching, then a simple calf stretch. If you don't want to suffer the consequences of overly tight muscles, do some of your own stretches after the tapes are done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you Leslie!
I've been doing this tape for about 5 times a week for about 5 or 6 weeks and haven't gotten sick of it yet. I have 3 small children and getting out for a regular brisk walk is nearly impossible. I can get up before the kids, pop in this tape (it's about 18 minutes long) and start my day off right before the chaos begins! I've struggled with regular aerobic exercise for years...it was always too hard or too boring. I've never kept up any other routine this long...and the results are great. I haven't changed my diet and am losing about 1/2 to 1 pound for week...which is great for a nursing mom like me! Part of the video calls for 2 2-lb. weights. For the first few weeks I didn't use them and still felt like I was working hard--one of the walkers in the video doesn't use weights so you have someone to follow. There is also another walker that uses small range of motion for those who want to work their way into it. I love this tape! I've conquered the exercise guilt!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW
This video is for you, if you are relatively sedentary and want to start an exercise program that won't make you feel like crying. Many times I have purchased workout videos that claimed that they were for beginners, and found out that their definition of beginner was much healthier than I was! That is not the case here! I have disabling arthritis and Fibromyalgia and was able to keep up with this tape without suffering for it later. This is a wonderful place to start back toward a healthy body. Buy it now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone
I love this workout. I have heart and lung problems, but, I want to exercise. Most exercise programs are too tiring for me.
This video is not too intense that I can't do it. Most videos just make me upset because, I can't do them. This one actually make me proud of myself because I can complete it. ... Read more

That scuttling sound you hear is the last of your exercise excuses running out. Exercise vet Kathy Smith has introduced her Timesaver: Cardio Fat Burner video, which presents the terminally busy with a 20-minute option as well as a more well-rounded 40-minute full cardio workout in this complete, varied program. On those days when you can only manage 20 minutes, this will still get you off to a great start. And on days you can go the distance, you'll get a thought-out, well-rounded routine that's easy to follow and broken down into several levels of ability. Through it all, Smith's straightforward, cheerful (but, thankfully, minimally chirpy) delivery is inspiring yet low-key, a winning combination, especially for repeat viewings. --Anne Hurley ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT WORKOUT
I can't beleive some of the whinning on these reviews. This is a fun workout. It may take a couple of times to get the steps but this isn't difficult to do. After doing this video twice I had the steps down. I love the intensity of the workout, in fact, I do many of the moves at a more high impact level then Kathy does. Yes, this video has some very up-beat and at times cheesy people, like the guy at the beginning, but if that's your excuse to not workout, then you never will...you'll just keep coming up with excuse after excuse! The first 20 min workout is like a dance combination and I found the time flew by as I learned the steps. The second 20 min workout is a type of interval workout, which is a lot of fun. There is a streching segment at the end, which is good. Even though there isn't a stretch at the beginning, and if you don't have time to do one of your own, remember, stretching after a workout is more important, if you don't get the time to do both. The only thing I would change about this video is that the routines were at least 10 minutes longer and I could do without the backup people helping out Kathy, but they're really not that bad. I workout to this video before I go to work and I really enjoy it. I will say that this probably isn't a video for beginners. This is something you want to work up to, but if you're like me and have been working out for a while, you'll really enjoy it and the moves won't seem so hard. If you're a beginner, this is something to work towards and once you get through the video without having to stop, I promise you'll feel great! Kathy Smith really isn't a high impact instructor, at least not compared to what I'm used to, but she's a great instructor and I have many of her videos. Although, there are complaints in some reviews of her "cueing" on this video I think it's fine and not hard to catch on to. If you're looking for a good workout, which doesn't allow you to be lazy and actually forces you to work, this is for you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Let it Fool You!
I WAS VERY SKEPTICAL AT FIRST ABOUT THIS VIDEO BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE TOO EASY WITHOUT THE USE OF WEIGHTS AND A STEP. THE FIRST PART SEEMED TOO EASY UNTIL LIKE 10 MINUTES INTO IT AND AND I WAS LIKE O-KAY, NOW WHERE PUMPING,(AS KATHY WOULD SAY.) BY THE END OF THE FIRST HALF, I WAS SWEATING AS MUCH AS I USUALLY DO WHEN I DO AEROBICS,AND FELT LIKE I WAS READY FOR THE SECOND HALF. THE SECOND HALF IS HARDER BUT IF YOU DID THE FIRST PART, THEN YOUR READYTO DO IT. I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED AND FOUND TO CATCH ON TO THE MOVES VERY QUICKLY. IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH DANCY AEROBICS ROUTINES,(WHICH I LOVE,) THEN THIS IS THE TAPE FOR YOU! I FOUND THE ROUTINES TO BE VERY REPETATIVE TO THE POINT WHERE YOU GOT IT DOWN AFTER THE FIRST TIME. IF YOU LIKE BORING WORKOUTS, WITHOUT DANCY ROUTINES, THEN THIS ISN'T FOR YOU. THIS ONE IS LOUD, BUT THE YELLING IS FUN, MOTIVATING, AND THE WORKOUT IS QUITE MORE CHALLENGING THAN I EXPECTED. KATHY IS A GREAT INSTRUCTOR, AND LOVE THE WEIGHT LOSS WORKOUT, THATS DANCY, QUITE CHALLENGING, AND FUN!! I MAY SOUND LIKE A CHEESE BALL TO SOME OF YOU WHO HATE THE YELLING, BUT WHO WANTS A QUIET BORING WORKOUT, COME ON PEOPLE ITS AEROBICS AND ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, UNLIKE OTHER WORKOUT VIDEOS. BY THE WAY THE YOUNG MAN WHO MESSES UP AT THE BEGINNING MAKES ME LAUGH EVERY TIME BECAUSE HE TAKES OVER AND CONDUCTS THE ROUTINE, AND CALLS OUT THE WRONG STEP RIGHT AFTER KATHY SAYS TO HIM, "YOUR SOOOO GOOD!" I MEAN RIGHT AFTER! AIN'T NOTHING LIKE A LITTLE HUMOR, PLUS IT MAKES IT MORE REALISTIC. AND FOR THE WARMUP, SHE STARTS OUT SLOW SO IF YOUR THAT CONCERNED, DO SOME STRETCHING.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great heart-pumping, sweat-inducing workout!
I have been exercising to aerobic workout tapes for about 15 years now. I'm in good shape, but, after having a baby daughter, I don't have as much time to work out as I used to.

This tape is great. The workout is a challenge--not too easy for experienced exercisers, but not too hard for beginners.

The only drawback is that Kathy and her "helpers" are a little too perky and cheery, hence the 4-star review instead of 5. I always liked Kathy Smith because she never peppered her workouts with too many phony "you can do it!" and "who-hoos!" She was in a good mood but not overly cheerful like other aerobic instructors. But I can ignore this part of it in order to get a great workout.

Yes, there is no formal "warm-up," but the first few minutes of the workout are pretty slow and easy, so that's like a warm-up for me. To be honest, I have always skipped past the warm-up section of any workout and proceeded directly to the main program, and I have not injured myself, ever. So this was not a problem for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Warning
It is a great workout and beats many tapes that I own. After 8 years of aerobics at the gym, I switched to video and never looked back. Her tapes help me to stay in shape and work out more often.

Couple things that threw me off:
Kathy ignores the fact that many of us practice aerobics at home on the carpet. Some of her moves are hard to do on the carpet at high pace. I would appreciate a "carpet edition" of her video.

Second, for some strange reason, she does not always follow symmetrical approach so common for all the aerobics instructors. She would do series on one side, but not on the other side. I have to correct her routines as I go, otherwise my sciatica goes into full swing after aerobics.

Still, it is a great compressed workout and I would recommend it to others.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too fast, not enough instruction
I have read great things about Kathy Smiths' workout videos and didn't think twice about ordering Timesaver Cardio Fat Burner DVD. However, I was surprised how fast she went through instruction. I am in pretty good physical shape and thought her cardio was sufficent. The issue I have is that she went so fast through the combos that I spent more time stopping the DVD then the actual workout. This DVD would be better off in the hands of the more coordinated. ... Read more

Doing six minutes of abdominal exercises every day is a good idea. But don't worry, Six Minute Waist Trimmer is not a six-minute video. It's three six-minute abdominal workouts, planned to last you six weeks. You're advised to do segment 1 (light intensity, simple exercises) daily for two weeks, then do the same with segment 2 (moderate intensity, with a new set of exercises), then segment 3 (challenging, with more difficult variations). The exercises are effective and varied, and Austin explains and models them well. However, you must realize that you can't spot-reduce the waist--this program needs to be done in conjunction with regular aerobics and dietary changes, as Austin points out. --Joan Price ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Waist Workout's on the Market
I do a different ab workout five days a week. I included six minute waist trimmers in my rotation and I love it. It's split into three levels (beginner, intermediate, and advance). The workouts are short but very targeted and extremely effective. I have definitely seen results. Denise may sound a bit ditsy, but she definitely knows what she's doing. This is definitely a 5 star workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Safe abdominal and waist workout
I like this workout because it's only 6 min(lol) and the techniques used while toning the abs don't put a strain on my back. And best of all, I'm seeing great results. To sum it up the moves are safe for your back and effective with results!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This video helped me!
I chose this video because you do the workout in only 6 minutes and you're done. It's a six week program divided into 3 different workouts. Each workout varies in intensity, and is done exclusively for a two week period. I faithfully did this workout every day for 6 weeks and it really did flatten my stomach and give me more definition to my abdominals. If you are just looking to tone up abdominals(not lose weight)this a good video to start with. The six weeks is a good beginning, you'll see some improvement, but you won't have perfect washboard abs if you don't go beyond the six weeks. This is a good one for beginners. Now if only I could get a video titled, "Six Minute Waist Trimmer Weeks 7 - ?" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Fabulous!
This video is fast paced and challenging. I have been doing Pilates for two years and was looking for something a little different. The work-out, though long, goes by quickly and Stott's informative commentary maintains interest. Her discussion of breathing is especially detailed, without interupting the flow of the movements. Each set of exercises continues into the next without pause, adding to the difficulty level of this workout. This is not a routine for beginners! I tried this video after noticing positive changes in a friend's physique who recommended this tape to me. After doing this workout my entire body was humming!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Results
I have had 3 kids in less than 5 years and really thought I would never have a tight, thin stomach without surgery. I have used this video alternating it with Windsor Pilates and mild cardio for my workouts. I saw results in 2 weeks. Now, I am normally a size 8 but can wear a 6 now. I didn't have much weight to lose but wanted to tone my midsection. This tape is great. Pilates is one of the best ways to tone your abs when combined with a sensible diet and some cardio. You will see the best results by alternating it everyday with something different. I like Taebo's Basic workout. Again, I have 3 young kids so I like a workout that is quick but effective!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Advanced Pilates Workout
This is a good workout, I liked the fact that the pace is moderate comparing to other advanced pilates workouts (especially the classical pilates technique), which give you more time to concentrate in your moves. The warm up in the beginning is a little bit boring, but never mind .

5-0 out of 5 stars Great pilates workout!
I have been doing pilates for several months now and this is exactly the workout I have been looking for. Although, I must admit that I do skip the first 10 minutes of warming up and start at the pilates one-hundred. It is challenging and I enjoy the variety of exercises on this tape.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Work Out
I have Windsor Pilates and Crunch Pick your Spot Pilates tapes. Stott Pilates Advanced Matwork 2nd Edition is better than both. It is fast, has varied exercises and is challenging. If you want an overall body challenge buy this tape (about 50 min). Windsor Pilates is too slow and not challenging enough, Crunch Pick Your Spot is good but it is too short(30min) and not an overall body workout (duh). This tape is well worth the money IF you want a challenge. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the Best Firm Video
About three years ago I was 30 pounds over weight. I bought this video as well as another one by Red Book. I started with the Red Book one (it was easier) and advance to this one. I'm still using it three years later. It's the cornerstone of my weight and aerobic workout and I do it about once every two weeks (I do about four to five workouts a week and like to keep things varied). Since I began my workout regime I have bought may Firm titles and enjoy them. This is by far the best and I see the best results when I've done this one. I've also tried other workout videos and nothing compares to the Firm. You really do see results quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite "older" Firm Video
I own the whole set of the old firm videos, and this one is my favorite. The instructions are easy to follow, and I can build up to a higher level of fitness easily by increasing the weights. One thing I would definitely change if I could is the music--although the tunes are interesting, a more "aerobic" type mix would be more motivating for me. But I do go back to this video year after year, and feel great during and after my workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grunting is good!!
I think this is the hardest tape I've ever done by far, and I own many Firm tapes. Ms. Bergman is an excellent instructor because just when you are ready to give up, she gives you that extra "get tough", or "power! control!" that keeps me motivated. This works your entire body into "muscle exhaustion" and you will see results in ten workouts or less. Beginners may not like the format of the tape, but do NOT use weights at first. Remember to do what you can and work up. I started with either no weights, or two pound weights and am now up to ten pound hand weights and 2 and a half pound ankle weights. The brilliance of the original Firm tapes is that they never can get boring. Just add more weight! Also, I found more results using this tape because it is interval training. My heart rate never drops to normal in the hour long workout. A great way to burn fat and lose weight.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good video, but not really for beginners
I liked the video, but when I did it I hadn't exercised a lot before so it was pretty hard to do. I was out of breathe, and even when your trying not to work too hard, it's pretty tough. It's hard to do, but the video has a lot of variety which makes it less boring to do. It does feel like you are working out, though. This is what I call a hard day's workout. On the days that you really want to kick your workout up a notch, this is the tape to do. I can completely see how you can see results in the first ten workouts. I bet you could even see results in half that time. It's a tough workout, but if you don't mind working hard or putting extra effort into your day, this is the workout for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun...and also still great!
This is another oldie, but goodie! I really like the older Firm videos. The first four (the ones I have currently) are all challenging, with instructors that cue pretty good and are motivating. The music is nice...some find it very '80's, but I love it. It sounds like music, not just noise and it keeps the pace nicely. The promise of visible results in 10 workouts is true...if you do them several times a week and eat right you won't be disappointed! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool dance steps (& Jennifer Love Hewitt = Excellent Workout
Move over Jane Fonda! Now Barbie has her own workout video, and it is COOL!

Brought to life through the magic of stop-motion animation by Academy Award-winning Will Vinton Studios, Barbie (and her friend, Kim) teach a 30-minute dance/aerobics class to a group of real live girls (ages 7-11).

And one of the featured girls just happened to turn out to be TV and film superstar Jennifer Love Hewitt! (You can't miss her -- she's in the front row).

Also, it says on the box that all the songs are sung by Love Hewitt. The songs are upbeat and fun, and the girl can sing!

I highly recommend this tape to anyone (girls of all ages and their moms) looking for a great way to pick up some cool dance steps while they get a much-needed workout.

Barbie: You GO girl!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great workout for everyone
I have been doing the Barbie workout religously since I was 13. Kind-of embarassed to say, but I am now 20 and still do it everyday. It is a great workout, not to intense, but still gets you going. You are filled with energy after finishing the 30 minute workout. I even know it by heart and after I my dad threw mine out, I continue to do it without the tape. Jennifer Love Hewitt is also in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Barbie R0x0rs

4-0 out of 5 stars terrific
hey, come on people, this video was not funny or real old silly looking in anyeway but actually it is still an amazing workout that i got shaped up and lost wieght. also the music is awesome, love Hewette who sang all the songs.. it goes very fast and you might not get caught up in the first time but it is ok. in general, the video is perefect for girls 7 and up to 17 i guess, to get you fit and know a lot of aerobic workouting skills. go barbie

5-0 out of 5 stars pretty fast, but great way to get kids moving
Looking back on the many times I would pop in this tape and dance through it in my basement, the only thing that I can't stand is the sound of Barbie's voice and the animation with her bopping on her own little platform throughout the duration of the video. However, this tape is otherwise an excellent thing to get kids standing up and moving, and it isn't a bad choice for adults, either. That might sound corny, especially with the "Barbie" label, but this is by no means a little "kiddie" workout. It is intense, fast-paced, and lots of fun. The music is great, too, with all of the singing coming from Jennifer Love Hewitt, who is actually one of the kids dancing on the video. You might be surprised that this voice is coming out of her-- for a kid that young, she really can sing!!
Yes, the dance steps are very quickly presented and performed. There really isn't much instruction for them; the dancers on the floor in the video just demonstrate it for you, but each move is repeated quite a few times before they move on to the next one, so you should have enough time to jump in. I don't know; I never seemed to think much about the intensity of it when I danced to this video as a kid, and I know I just always danced to it and did my thing and enjoyed all of it. However, I just pulled the tape off my shelf for the first time in about 5 years and watched it again because the reviews here that commented on the unreasonable difficulty of the workout interested me, and I wanted to see exactly what I had worked out to so many times as a 9-year-old kid. I remember when my sister and I found Jennifer Love Hewitt's energy on this video quite humorous. You absolutely cannot miss her; she's right there in the front row, putting her entire body into every move, whether it's as simple as marching in place or as elaborate as the "Bunny Flop." Her ability to keep that energy up throughout the entire workout is pretty admirable, and you might be able to spot some good funny facial expressions from her if you look closely, but I think she appears a little unrealistic here for a 10-year-old girl. This might be a part of what some young girls who have tried this tape have been frustrated by. Just watch Hewitt's performance from start to finish, and you'll get what I mean. She really is something else.

The dance steps might take a little practice for some, but I feel that this is something that kids can definitely do with enjoyment. There are 10 people dancing on this video--nine kids and one adult instructor. The only two out there who perform each move almost flawlessly are Jennifer Love Hewitt and the instructor Kim. The other two girls in the front row with Hewitt are pretty good too, but if you watch the younger ones in the back, they're certainly not performing the moves exactly the same. They're following along, yes, but they are also kind of just doing their thing, dancing with smiles on their faces and not caring about doing it perfectly. This is exactly how young kids should approach this video; just do what you can, have FUN, and keep doing it, because like anything else, you get better and better every time you do it. If that's the attitude that you go in with, there's no kid that can't have a ball with this video. It gets them up and going, and that's what's important. This is why I recommend the Barbie Workout; there are people here who say it's too much to keep up with, but it kept me moving when I used it, and I honestly had a good time with it. And parents and teens--don't be ashamed to join the kids on this one. As far as good workouts go, even Barbie knows how to kick it. Break a sweat, feel good about getting a nice exercise, and have fun. That's what the video was made for! =) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best fitness video I have ever purchased!!!
I purchased this workout video about six years ago, while I was still in high school. At the time I was part of the track team and averaging aout 4 miles of running everyday. Despite this, the video tape was a great addition to my work out. Now as a 20 something year old, I have come back to the tape and realized its full potential for someone who is always on the go and who also happens to be gym shy. Its a great video. The steps are easy to follow, and target all the right places on my body (butt, legs, thighs, arms).
Another thing I love about the video is the absolutely gorgeous scenery! The background scenery is so beautiful, and in addition to this, Elle picked out great upbeat music. I think the combination of good music and nice scenery adds to my workout. I hate workout tapes where the instructor has annoying music in the background, within a bland, blank environment. It makes doing the excercises even tougher under such circumstances.
I also liked Karen Voight alot. She is not annoying and perky like so many fitness instructors tend to be. In addition to this, I appreciated the fact that Elle, let Karen Voight take control. Elle McPherson doesnt try to pretend to be a fitness expert, she leaves this all up to Voight.
This video is great for anyone on the go like the average working woman, college student, etc. I've got my sister addicted to the video. Now she and her dorm mates all religiously work out to this video.
Overall, I have to give this video my highest rating. Great for all ages!!!!!!!! I just wish that they offered it on DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most fun workout video ever!
This is the one workout video I actually enjoy and look forward to! Consisting of 3 aerobic sections with upper body, abs and butt workouts in between, it's a great 60 minute workout that gets your heart rate up. The aerobic sections are fun, almost dancey and easy to follow, and Karen and Elle both look like they're having a great time! The toning exercises are varied and good too, as is the cool-down. And there's actually great music and different outdoor locations throughout the video, which keeps it interesting and enjoyable.

5-0 out of 5 stars a classic to keep
I have approx. 30 exercise videos and this is one of the best. Although it is now 10 years old, the music and exercise attire are not too dated - I'll probably enjoy this one for years to come. Elle's demeanor is friendly and engaging, not offensive. For example her pointers about adjusting the exercises "if you have long arms and legs like mine" were welcome because I have long limbs too. I did get the impression that nobody told her when it was OK to speak so she sometimes sounded a little unsure or perhaps shy. Karen's instruction is, as always, top notch. It is clear that a great deal of effort was spent in designing this program. Well done. I'd like to see a follow-up video.

5-0 out of 5 stars a workout you will never get sick of!
It is a fun filled, vibrant video which works out the whole body to music that is "evergreen", the Hawaiian scenes are superb. Okay, I know it annoyed me that Elle said that she "was born with good genes" and although most of us will never attain a body like Elle's, we can still be the best that we can be. I have many other exercise videos but this seems to be my favorite. I wish it could be re-recorded to come out on DVD.

3-0 out of 5 stars Your Personal Best Workout
This workout was not much fun or challenge. If you are fairly fit you want even feel it working for you, and Elle is just plain annoying. If you want to see results and enjoy the workout try Cindy Crawford's Next Challange workout instead. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic instruction, still great to workout to
Hart has made many videos, and this one is a keeper, the abs and arms are worked in progression and you feel great toning with her. I loved this!

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth your 40 minutes
I liked this video because of the arm and shoulder toning. I think most people would need to use weights though in order to see any results. The majority of the routine focuses on arms and not abs and also there is no aerobic section like some of the other Steel videos.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best for Abs toning
I've tried a variety of videos for toning the abs, and this is by far my favorite one. I like it better than any of the other videos in the "Steel" series. Leisa Hart, the trainer, is pleasant & professional, and the exercises really work. The section for arms is pretty easy unless you use fairly heavy weights.

4-0 out of 5 stars Getting some success with Arms & Abs of Steel 2
I've been using this tape for about two months now, and am really seeing some results. If you haven't done any previous ab work, expect some post-workout pain, in spite of all of the useful stretching exercises Leisa does before and after the workout. Though it is said you can do the arm exercises without hand weights, I'd advise you use at least one pound weights because otherwise the arm portion may seem a little dull and you may lose interest. The ab section, however, is challenging and well-paced, and Leisa is a pleasant instructor with an encouraging attitude. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FIVE STARS FOR THIS WORKOUT! 2 for audio
FIRM videos are the best! The cross trainers Super Sculpt and Super Cardio are my FAVORITE Firm videos! My old favorite used to be Body Sculpting Basics but these two are great!
I didn't want to give the workout a less than five star review because I love it, but I didn't want to scare off buyers because of the star rating.
I agree with the poor audio quality. It sounds like it is not in stereo, like the audio is very flat. There is no bass, and it does sound like they didn't make these tapes in stereo quality like most movies.
I WISH the audio was better, I LOVE LOVE these tapes! The music is fabulous and the routines are better than most FIRMS.
Jennifer Carman is fabulous in this video. I like her beginning segments, she begins right away with sitting arm work, including tough bicep work! Nancy Tucker and her dips and curtsy dips really works me!
A+ workout
D- sound quality

3-0 out of 5 stars not bad, has potetial
the Firm is loaded with great workouts, the instructors are always friendly and encouraging, although they are not always the best, but the workout is ok and the commitment to feel good is there, it could be better, but not every class at the club is good either, so take what you can get

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A DAMN GOOD WORKOUT....PERIOD....
This workout is NO JOKE. Starts with a warm up and goes quickly through the routines of the four instructors. Ends with abdominal work and the cool down/stretch. At the end of the work out you have gotten everything you need for a full body workout, with tons of sweat to prove it. As you gain strength, increase the weights to maintain your own personal edge.

5-0 out of 5 stars Effective Body Sculpting - I Love It
I've been a Firm beliver for the past ten years and this is one of my favorite Firm videos. What I love about this video is that the routines are exceptionally effective and innovative. The lower body segment is very challenging. I didn't realize there were such movements as criss cross and curtsy lunges, until I used this video. After I completed the workout, my legs were sore but they felt good. I saw muscle definition in my legs the next day. I was very pleased with the results. I had broken my right femur 14 years ago and I could never work that right thigh muscle properly. Also the upper body segment is nothing to sneeze at either. Performing frontal arm raises and butterflies are challenging enough while standing. Just try doing them while bending over the fanny lifter. You'll discover muscles you thought you never had. Trust me, you will definitely feel the burn and develop lovely muscle definition and strength in you upper arms. Your reward is that you'll feel better and look great in the latest fashions. Overall, I give this video an A +++. You'll love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite FIRM videos
This is one of my favorites! It's demanding even for the most experienced FIRM addict. At first, the audio/video was fine on my copy, but after several viewings it deteriorated rapidly. I'm ordering another one anyway! THE FIRM definitely works! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Challenging, inspiring, non-cheesy
I love this video. I am just beginning a strength-training program, and this video has kept me going where others have failed. The workout is simple -- the only equipment you really need is barbells -- but thorough and challenging. I feel like Rachel McLish is my very own supercool workout partner. And, yeah, her body is a great motivation to get fit. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a weight lifting tape!
I love this tape!!! I have almost 150 tapes and this one is one of my sculpting faves...

Here's a little of what you get:

Workout type: Muscle Sculpting (no cardio),It is gym style weight lifting... so don't expect the cardio that is intermixed in a Firm...
She does every muscle..
so it is a Total body w/o.
she doesn't miss any.

Fitness Level: Beginners may want to start without weights, Intermediate or Advanced will find it thorough. (IMO)

Equipment needed: hand weights, a bench or Step on highest riser, a wall or dowel.

Effectiveness: This tape is designed for those who are serious about toning or sculpting, If followed, it is very precise.

Music: it's appropriate.

Presentation: You are exercising one on one with her and she is strong! (she is, however, only lifting 8lb dumbbells throughout and the style allows you to go higher.)

Attire: Black crop top and black lycra shorts.

Instruction: Her form is near perfection.
great technique. She also explains the moves thoroughly.
She does each set very slowly, slow enough that you can go very high in weights, and yet the tape moves along comfortably...

Style: She does 2 sets for each muscle. as opposed to Cathes 3 in MIS. She usually does 12 reps per set.

No warmup! you must do your own.
