5-0 out of 5 stars Love That Leslie
When I first bought a Leslie Sansone tape, I was skeptical that walking inside my own home could get my heartrate up enough. I am 29 years old and in good aerobic shape. Her tapes really do get my breathing and sweating!
I really enjoyed this video. Leslie has REAL people in her videos, not ultra-fit models and I find that encouraging. She has people, throughout the workout, demonstrate modifications that may be done if you're not yet capable of exerting as much energy.
This video is only 30 minutes long (covers a 2 mile walk) and by the time I want to quit exercising, this video is nearly over. Leslie is charming and enthusiastic (although, I get tired of hearing her repeat the same phrase over and over). This is truly an excellent, non-strenous workout that leaves me feeling that I HAVE worked out.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great cardio workout that just flies by!!
Ive only done this tape twice, but I can already say I love it. Ive only just recently heard of Sansone's "indoor walking" and was interested because the snow and ice keep me from taking my baby on walks. Yes, Leslie is very chipper and excited, but it doesnt bother me. The people on this tape are REAL people..all shapes and sizes. Old, young, heavy, and fit. There is a lot of chatter, but it sorta keeps things from getting dull. If you ever get sick of hearing the chatter, just turn the volume on mute and play your own music. The tape starts with a warm up and learning the four basic (EASY) steps of indoor walking. Then you start your 2 mile walk with basic upper body exercises and small weight work thrown in...very easy. It starts slow, then the intensity level does go up until you are sweating and then the cool down begins to ease those muscles. The meter at the bottom of the screen tracks how "far" you've walked. At the end of the half hour, you actually feel as if you walked 2 miles, but had the benefit of doing upper body work as well. This tape is easy and effective. I recommend it to anyone - regular exercisers and new exercisers alike.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great workout for losing weight!!
I love this video! When I started using this video, about 8 months ago, I weighed in at a whopping 263 pounds and i'm about 5'4. My doctor said I needed to lose weight because I was at a high risk of certain diseases. So, I decided to try this Leslie Sansone's video. I started on her one mile walk and then gradually switched to the 2 mile walk. Well, so far I've lost 60 pounds! And I'm not done yet!

If your extremely overweight or a beginner, I do suggest starting on one of her one mile walks first, that way you can get use to exercising. Her video's are very easy too do, but they do get you sweating and breathing hard. I recommend them to all my family and friends!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is so Easy to do
I love this workout, because I am not the exercising type, but this workout makes me want to get up and get moving. I started about 3 months ago and I gave up. I have started again and I am really motivated this time. Leslie makes it easy to do this. She is not intimidating at all, anyone can do this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Half-Hour Workout
This is my 5-year-old's favorite workout video. Whenever I put a workout video in, she asks me if I'm doing this one. I like the basic moves (I'm not very coordinated). Whether you use the weights (purchased separately) or not, you can get a good full-body workout. I like the on-screen meter that tells you how far you've walked. When I want a really intense workout, I do this one right after the 3-mile one. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very easy but still a lot of fun
I haven't found a pregnancy video yet that makes me feel like I've had a good workout, but at least this one comes close. I can't say that I get my heart rate up, but I guess it's better than doing nothing. The salsa dance is easy to catch on to, accompanied by good music, but rather mild in intensity level. So it's advised that experienced exercisers do the yoga fat burn afterwards. The main benefit of this section is toning (thighs) and stretching (back and sides) but it moves really slowly. I don't mind all the repetition in the video since it makes it easier to learn the moves, but I wish it had a bit more oomph to it. I still do my usual exercise videos and even step aerobics (at almost 6 months) but I think I'll be using Fit Mama more and more as I get bigger.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for ANY type of pregnant exerciser!
I have to agree with Lois, Jennifer from Georgia is SO wrong!

I am 6 weeks pregnant. Before this, I worked out about 2-3 times a week with weights and cardio using The Firm. I bought this video last week and did my first routine on Saturday. I was so incredibly pleased by the workout and Leisa, that I couldn't wait to write a review on it.
First - Leisa Hart is an amazing instructor. In the beginning of a pregnancy, you feel more fat than pregnant. She makes you feel beautiful. She says many times to be proud of your growing body and even says "let me see your bellies." It is very uplifting and really boosts your self-esteem just with that alone.
I have a background in dance, so I LOVED that it started out with Salsa dancing. If it's not getting your heart rate up, then add something to it, maybe weights on your ankles. However, it did get my heart rate up, it made me feel good. Leisa is very peppy, and you want to keep going because of her.
The time goes by quickly because you have things to focus on. The fun dance, or Leisa herself. The stretching sections are good, and overall, I give the tape an A+ and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone of any exercise background.
Pregnancy isn't what it used to be. Working out isn't bad. Having too high of a heart rate is bad though. But if you don't have a tape and you're concerned about possibly gaining too much weight (as we all are) then get this tape. You won't be disappointed, and I am VERY picky about what workouts I do.

Not only will working out help keep you in shape, it also helps speed your metabolism and lower your hunger cravings. You are only supposed to get an extra 300 calories a day during pregnancy, without working out, there's no way I wouldn't overeat. Lisa also explains in the beginning anything you may have questions on.

Drink lots of water, and have a safe and pleasant pregnancy.

5-0 out of 5 stars best prenatal video ever!!!!
FITMAMA Prenatal is no doubt the BEST EVER prenatal made to hit the market. I LOVED IT. Leisa Hart is a guru with fitness programming, I loved her BUNS OF STEEL videos a few years back and loved it when I saw that she did a prenatal video, expecially after doing a few others that bored me to tears. This was fund, the Salsa dancing got my heart rate to a great level, the yoga was new and fun, a great variation that Leisa explains well and it toned my hips and legs and got my back ready to deliver another healthy baby, this is a TWO THUMBS UP video!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great pregnancy workout -- even if you hate to exercise!
I was so excited to find Leisa Hart's prenatal workout DVD. With my last pregnancy, I took up walking and tried doing whatever prenatal workout I could, but my well-meaning husband got me a prenatal yoga video that I just HATED to do. It felt a little too much like work, forcing myself to do it. Now 4 months into my second pregnancy, this DVD has been a lifesaver! Not only do I not mind doing it, but it's actually FUN! Plus, with the DVD format, you can pick and choose what type of workout you want to do ... from the fat-burning yoga one day to the Salsa dance (my absolute favorite) the next. Plus, there are lots of prenatal stretches and relaxation techniques. I especially like how fun and upbeat Leisa Hart keeps this workout ... not at all boring or "meditative" like some. Just a great prenatal workout in general! Five stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars love this prenatal workout
i love this prenatal video, the instructions are ideal, i don't have to follow a bunch of unnecessary choreography, and the personality of the instructor Leisa Hart is great....i highly recommend this workout, i never get bored doing it and always feel very refreshed and good about my workout, plus my darling hubbie thinks i am a FitMama!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It works!
I have Leslie's Walk Away The Pounds deluxe set, which comes with the 1 mile walk tape, the 2 mile, the 3 mile, and the weighted balls. I started only 3 weeks ago, and I have been doing the 2 mile video every day, and the 3 mile when I feel more energetic.

This really works! I have lost weight and inches already! These workouts are easy, but they WORK! I have cut back on junk food, so I am not doing a major life changing diet, yet its still working. I am a clutz and get very tired easy, I have no coordination, but I can do these! :)

There is no jumping around and you need very little room, which is a plus. I find Leslie very easy to follow and I don't feel lost with whats going on like with Richard Simmons tapes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy and Effective Workout
I bought the 3 mile walk about 4 months ago. For the first 2 months I used it 5-6 days a week. Since I've started doing this workout (currently mix it in with several other DVD/ VHS workouts), I've lost 15 lbs! That's pretty significant considering that I'm only 5'4"!

I really love this workout. It's not hard on my legs/ knees, it makes me sweat, and it's so easy to follow that I can put my TV on split-screen and watch a TV show on half the screen with sound and still follow along with the muted workout.

There only bad thing I have to say is that the repetitive music and hearing the same old jokes again and again; it's hard to take. That's another reason I'm so glad I can do the split screen workout with the VHS muted!

Another thing: I've managed to hook 4 people that I work with, and several of their friends/ families on the same 3 mile walk! These people all asked how I was losing so much weight and then borrowed the tape for a trial before going and buying it themselves. One person has lost 20lbs in 2 months from doing the workout 3 times a week!

In short, I would say that this program definitely delivers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to follow, low stress workouts
I started working out with these videos when I was 4-5 months pregnant. I am currently in my 7th month, and still enjoy them immensely. The workouts are easy, and present no jerky or bouncy movements that could cause problems with my already out-of-balance and awkward shape.

I had enjoyed walking regularly before buying these videos, but I was looking for an alternative to my somewhat boring treadmill routine. The miles go very quickly in these videos, and Leslie and her crew are very likeable. I feel as though I'm exercising with friends.

I use the 2-mile tape the most, and the 1-mile tape (approx. 17 minutes) is wonderful for squeezing in an early-morning or while-dinner-is-cooking workout. As my pregnancy progresses, I find the pace of the 3-mile tape somewhat difficult to keep up with. But it's a pace I know I can manage once the baby is born.

I got my doctor's OK before getting into these workouts, and I'm finding that these videos are not only easy, but fun. I believe I will continue to enjoy them throughout the rest of my pregnancy. I look forward to using them to work back into my pre-pregnancy shape.

5-0 out of 5 stars No-excuses, a no-brainer
If you can walk you can do this workout -- and it works!!! It's especially great on those days when you don't feel like doing a "jump/dance" workout. You'll sweat, burn and tone just the same. Should be included everyones fitness video library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great and Easy to do.
My mom and I love these videos. We haven't exercise in years and are out of shape. These videos are easier than others out there and when we are done we feel full of energy and good for doing something for our health. Leslie makes us feel like we are right there exercising with them. I don't mind the music at all. HighLy recommended for those of you that out of shape. ... Read more

Young bodies will thoroughly enjoy toning their inner and outer selves during this half-hour of easy, playful exercise. Designed for ages 3 to 10, YogaKids introduces children to the ancient art of yoga in a very modern fashion. Instructor Marsha Wenig teams with a group of youngsters who confidently demonstrate each pose against a backdrop of eye-popping foliage and quiet, inviting beaches. As the children repeat each of the 20 poses--everything from the butterfly pose to the volcano pose--Wenig gently explains the strength derived from each exercise. Since yoga does not require quick feet or strong arms, young viewers of all skill levels will be able to accomplish the majority of these poses on their first try. Lessons in belly breathing, relaxation, and balance are given equal time with the benefits of stretching and strengthening. Finally, a few nicely placed words about self-respect and respecting others make this video a well-rounded choice for any family's fitness collection. --Liane Thomas ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this video!
I bought this video on the recommendation of several different people. My son (who is 2.5) loves it, and i love it too. He enjoys doing the 'tree pose', 'snake pose', and 'lion pose'. People should be warned though, it is new agey (which doesn't bug me at all, since i am pretty new agey myself! LOL!). The yoga-mama talks about how we are all interconnected, and you learn how to say "Ommm...", etc. The songs are sweet and gentle, and each pose is illustrated by different images of animals or nature scenes. We play this video for a little bit at a time, since it is divided into sections you don't have to watch the whole thing at a time. It is a very gentle and lovely...it is the only video that my son watches.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids love these videos!
This set of videos featuring Marsha Wenig, founder of YogaKids, was developed for children ages 3-8. Kids sing silly songs while performing assorted fun and funny yoga asanas. Children learn basic yoga techniques presented in a relaxed setting. This is especially suitable for younger yogis who may not have a long attention span or an interest in holding a pose for long periods of time.

In addition to exercising their bodies children are given the opportunity to expand their minds with mini lessons that open them up to the world around them. Little animal lovers will enjoy performing poses that mimic the movements of seals, snakes, and lions.

These tapes are a favorite of my five-year-old daughter Sarah and my almost three-year-old niece, Ashlee. --Michelle Smith

2-0 out of 5 stars I was not happy with this video
I purchased this video for my 8 and 9 year olds thinking it would be a true introduction to Yoga. This video bored my 4 year old neice to tears! This is defintely for the 3 year old age group. Thinking it would be a mini work out was a mistake. More time was spent acting silly, looking at zoo animals and learning about nature than was spent on actual fitness. If you need to keep very young children entertained for 20 minutes - this is for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars For under age 8 - GREAT
My daugher has been using this from age 3. While she does have a good ability to concentrate, each indiviual pose (except headstand) is something she can do alone (meaning without assistance). She loves the music and the gentle tone of the narrator. We got it for Christmas and have given it to 2 other friends. My husband thinks its "dorky" just like he thinks Barney is dorky, but frankly, this video is not for adults, its for kids, and they seem to love it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice quality kids yoga
We have tried several children's yoga videos with varying degrees of success. This video has a nice clear picture and sound. All the poses (with the exception of the handstand) are possible for both parent and child to do without any practice. My daughter has been using this video since she was 2 and is now almost 5. When she was younger she would often get bored during the video transitions between poses. Now she can make it through the whole video without running off to do something else. But she loved doing the poses and we both enjoyed the playful way the poses were presented. We recommend this one, as well as Yoga Fitness For Kids Ages 3-6. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You have found the right video to get! Read review
I do not usually take the time to write reviews, however, I must write a review for a few of Denise Austin's newer videos that I have been seeing fabulous results from recently. I am the 35 year old mom of 3 young girls under the age of 8. I had gained more than 40 pounds that were (VERY) unwanted, from having kids, and dating my honey in college. Using a sensible, nutrition plan like Denise descibes in her "Shrink your female fat zones" - which means moderation, not short term deprivation which eventually results in you bouncing back and gaining extra pounds: Thus, I watch my carbs (focusing on consuming the "good" ones, eat lots of fruit and veggies, drink lots of water, and do have a sweet bite if I feel like it - but KNOW I must then go exercise it off). I have focused on learning about "proper" nutrition - what foods do to me literally, and sucking it up and cutting out the bad things like transfats, refined "dead" flours, and soda (yep, sorry - it can be tough to quit - but it's worth it!! And PLEASE do not drink diet sodas - unless you really are willing to accept that you may end up with Fibromyalgia or other negative side effects. I honestly feel fabulous since cutting out soda! I do have up to 2 cups of coffee per day - using Splenda to sweeten the coffee. For my exercise routine I am walking on my treadmill about 3 days a week (walking 2 miles at 4mph, takes 30 minutes = excellent cardio fat burner - put music cd on headset, read while walking or just get into the music and 2 miles goes by quickly) and then using Denise Austin's Get fit fast 3 video set (Abs, Arms and Shoulders, and Legs and Buns) a couple days per week, then also I have added the new Shrink you female fat zones video which is 2 - 20 minute segments - one with a stability ball, and one without. I am telling you that this simple easy-to-follow plan rocks! The short videos are awesome spot training - and you WILL know you worked your muscles! Each of the 3 videos has 3 different segments on them; advancing in difficulty as you go. All the newest, most effective moves are used - like ballet, kick boxing, etc. Then as far as the "Shrink your female fat zones" video - I just got it and I LOVE the workouts - both are short (easy to fit in with kids - you can workout while a baby is strapped in a high chair eating breakfast...hint, hint) yet like the other 3 videos, you'll KNOW you got a workout! And the stability ball... I LOVE IT!!! I noticed immedietly it gave me added support for my back and neck and it eliminates the need for a fancy, space-consuming weight machine! The results: I have gone from a size 12 medium/large to a size 8 small/medium - in only 2 months!!!!! I do not weigh myself often as per Denise Austin's teaching - because she is so right - the muscle I am creating is heavier than fat, BUT takes up MUCH less space! I do know from the last time I weighed myself, that I only have 20 more pounds to reach my target weight of 120 pounds for my petite 5'2" body - and I feel great! My husband told me a couple of days ago when he pinched my rear end ;-) that he noticed how firm I am getting!!!!! YES! I also have noticed that my abs (even after having a c-section 5 years ago) are very firm, my thighs are finally toning and shrinking, and my upper arms are finally near strapless-top condition!! The muscles are defining and cut! I have only made changes that I could keep for LIFE and done a little exercise nearly every day, just like Denise said. It has set the example for my children as well - since I have explained to them that the importance is that I am physically fit and strong and taking care of my muscles (which includes my heart!) I also highly recommend getting on Denise Austin's daily motivation and nutrition/exercise email list via Lifetime - I have gained so many nuggets from Denise! I also wanted to comment that I have been a long time (5 year) user of TaeBo - and it also is very effective and great for adding to Denise Austin's workouts for diversity. Using TaeBo over the past 5 years I have lost more that 3 inches in each thigh, my buttocks, etc - over 25 inches lost using the diverse but simple program I described - and YOU can do it too!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT VIDEO, Y'ALL
I have been using this video for about 2 years now. There are three levels (as others mention in their reviews), but I stay on the first one. I like the first 10-minute workout because it's fast and simple: no chairs, no props, etc. I can just incorporate it into my routine (I spin, do push-ups, sit-ups and all that business), and it is EFFECTIVE. I must say, my husband thinks Denise sounds like a 2-pack-a-day smoker, and that just adds to the family fun!! I think she's great, and she knows about women's bodies. I have recommended this to my mom, my best bud--everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Buy for New Moms!
I had a baby 3 months ago and for the past 6 weeks have been using Denise's Get Fit Fast series. The results are wonderful! Since the tapes are for only 10-15 minutes each day, 3 times a week, I have been able to find the time to exrcise during my little one's naps. Also, my body is looking better than it did before I became pregnant. I am breast-feeding and the pounds won't come off, but my body is looking more tone. My husband is constantly complimenting me on how much better I look. I also feel more energized. I highly recommend this video series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great workout
I really love this workout. This video is divided into three sections; beginners, intermediate and advanced. Your suppose to do each section 2 to 3 times per week for two weeks before advancing to the next level. I've been doing this video 3 times a week for the last two weeks and I can already see a difference on my thighs. I have muscle definition and my legs feel alot firmer, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Video
Within 6 weeks of using this video, I noticed a big change in my muscle definition. I have used all kinds of videos to target this area, including the "of steel" workouts, and I have to say that this one did the best job out of any of them, and it only takes a few minutes. This workout is definitely worth a try! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Usable, but has its flaws
I borrowed this video from a friend and used for a couple months towards the end of my pregnancy.
The workout is easy and short enough (30 min) to complete every day without having to nag yourself :). It does get you sweating and your blood pumping, but it is also true that you can at best keep your current fitness level using this particular one.
The sound and picture quality is fine, I had no problem at all. Also, it is not too old (I figured 10 yrs is old enough, and there are videos recorded about 20 yrs ago still on the market!).
The drawbacks of this workout video are:
Too very cheerleader style - a litle too much for me.
I had an impression the tape was recorded from the very first try - even things like "let's stretch our neck from head to toe" and other slips-of-the-tong (lots of them, annoying!) escaped editors attention, as well as insonsistent/non-simultaneous movements of Denise and her students that get off beat a lot. Deodorant clamps under a girl's arm and a breast all but falling out of the suit in the post-partum workout do not seem professional either.
The advice on correct way to do exersize is sometimes late, as late as when you already switched to another side (another leg, etc.), a variation of this is telling particular women to NOT do the exercise when the viewer is half way through it.
The interruptions are annoying and totally not needed (during exersize the screen would switch to a slow, lengthy and deliberate explanation of the correct way to do a couple of exercises). It would help if the music would go on to at least keep the rythm for those who want to keep going or, better yet, to explain the correct way before the main workout starts.
The stretches are barely there as a part of the workout - some of them are not long enough and/or not enough repetitions.
The post-pregnancy part is 20 min long and has same flaws.
Overall it is much better tnan no workout at all, but to purchase and own I would pick another tape.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but old
This tape was good but it is old. The moves were really good and kept me entertained for 30 min. but the music could be better. I paid only a couple bucks so I felt like I got what I paid for, but not too disappointed. I was on 10 weeks of bedrest and wanted to get back into shape after being an avid exerciser. Overall, I thought it was good.

4-0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this video!
I really enjoyed this video! Its just the right length 30 minutes and not too intense. Just the right amount of excercise to make you feel good. It is a little early nineties, but you get used to it.

1-0 out of 5 stars horrible
this woman has no business being on a video, she is so annoying and goofy, its absolutely pathetically horrible, dont bother buying this video, try fitmama or something else

4-0 out of 5 stars good pregnancy workout
I really enjoyed the pregnancy workout portion of this tape. Denise warms you up slowly before leading you in an energetic but not overly strenuous areobic workout. I was very fit before gaining too much weight during my pregnancy, working out through my 2nd and 3rd trimesters helped keep the pounds in check and my mood uplifted. My only crictism of this tape is the postpartum portion of the workout, is too short and not challenging enough to be an effective tool in getting ones pre-baby body back. Its okay for those moms who want to slowly ease back into shape. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Energizing Yoga Workout
I loved this tape! I thought the instructor was motivating and a real person. Fit without being too intimidating. She explains all the moves really well and reminds you to breathe in sequence, which I found very helpful. I didn't think yoga could be "fat burning" but I was sweating and energized at the end of the workout. Plus I was sore in all the right places the next day. I really like the Crunch series of tapes because most of them are 30 - 45 minutes which is alot easier for me to squeeze in to my day. This tape will become part of my regular schedule. I highly recommend it for beginners and intermediates. It probably wouldn't be suitable for advanced yoga enthusiasts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Workout
I just got this tape yesterday and decided to try it this morning. I hadn't completely bought into the "fat burning" part of it because I didn't really believe I'd even work up a sweat during the workout. It was fantastic and I was definitely sweating by the end. The instructor is very likeable and the routine she guides you through is easy to follow yet demanding. She also included a 6 minute yoga abs bonus at the end and a short stretch and period for relaxation. I highly recommend it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Exercies
I must say that when I first seen the video without doing the exercises I didn't appreciate it. The poses are basic yoga: downward facing dog, plank pose, cobra and simple back bends for floor series. For standing series: triangle pose, warrior poses and modification of side stretch poses.

The beauty of this tape and Power yoga in general is that the flow of movement along with proper breathing helps to create energy and burn fat. I never though I would sweat that much from such simple poses.

The instructor is helpful and calming; she reminds you constantly to breathe, which is quite important because usually you tend to focus on perfecting the pose and neglecting your breath.

Note that you need to practice with the tape for two to three times before you can do it smoothly and without looking into the video.

I would recommend this tape for beginners and even for intermediate yoga students. I have been practicing Hatha Yoga for a year and half and find this tape helpful. I would've however liked it if it was a bit more challenging.

4-0 out of 5 stars yoga for busy people
-Do buy this tape if:
A)You are pressed for time-the workout is 30-35 minutes or so long
B) You are looking for just a hint of a challenge(only really tough part is lunges)
C)You dont mind an instructor who does alot of explaining/talking and such
D)You are a newbie
DONT buy this tape if
A)You are looking for a serious 'isometric" type routine (I.e.Brian Kests Power Yoga from 1995 tapes)
B)You are REALLY looking to sweat hard
C)You are looking for really challenging poses (i.e. crow,one arm balance,dancing shiva,etc..)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Yoga Video
This is an excellent workout for people who don't have 60-90 minutes that many slow-movement exercise programs require. It's 45 minutes of relatively-simple poses. Ivanhoe does a great job of reminding the viewer of the most important aspect of yoga - the breathing. this would be a great program for beginners who are looking to ease into a routine. As an intermediate yoga practioner, I do this tape 4-6 times a week! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best of the best!
I just got this video in the mail today and did it immediately- it satisfied me beyond my expectations. You start out with a slow warm up, reviewing the four basic steps- walking, side steps, knee lifts, and kicks. The music really gets you into the mood to burn fat! The pace picks up and you start really doing power walking at its best. Leslie integrates arms into the workout, and after about 14-15 minutes, you have finished one mile! The workout gets more intense than ever and the 2nd mile is the fastest mile of them all. Aerobic walking takes over, and Leslie shows us some variation in the arms and the steps, and we move around the room. The walking is very brisk. The third mile comes before you know it, and Leslie shows you new steps like double kick backs, tapping with double side steps, grape vine, and more. The fourth mile also goes by quickly, and before you know it you are cooling down after a great workout! Of course there is stretching.

I recommend this video to everyone- it is really for all ages (there are people in this video that range from 20 to 72!!!). It gets your heart pumping and it really makes you sweat!

5-0 out of 5 stars Leslie Rocks
I've been using Leslie's workout videos for years and I believe the 4 mile super challenge is her best so far. If you're just starting to exercise again or you're out of shape you might want to start with mile 1 or 2 but if you feel that you need a bigger challenge, that is fun and very motivating, mile 4 super challenge is for you. The music helps you keep a fast pace, Leslie's postive attidude keeps you from wanting to quit, and the exercises throughout the program are so simple that anyone with two left feet can do them. I own several of the Walk Away the Pounds videos because I can mix and match the different miles and create my own exercise program. These are wonerful videos and anyone who wants a workout that is challenging but easy to follow should try them in a heartbeat.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME workout - my favorite of all WATPs!
This is a pure walking workout; i.e., no "accoutrements" like bands or hand weights. Very similar to the Express 3 Mile in terms of the music, the set and the group of walkers (but the 3 Mile uses the stretch bands). Loved the music--very hip and dancey, like club music, which I love. I have done this workout 2 or 3 times so far and it is fantastic. "Joyful" is the word that came to mind when I was doing it. The miles go by so fast, there was never a point where I was thinking "OH GAWD, when are we getting to the next mile?!" I MUCH prefer this to the older 4-mile WATP I have which has SOOOO much repetition of the same movement that I get exhausted and annoyed at the same time. This one gets a big THUMBS UP from me!

5-0 out of 5 stars power walk
This is a nice long workout pretty low impact a wonderful workout for all ages i would reccomend this to all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I did this video faithfully for 4 weeks, until my pregnant belly wouldn't let me do push-ups anymore, but my arms improved so much it really was amazing. I can't wait until my baby is born, so that I can do this video, as well as the legs and buns, and the abs video, which I also own. It's so encouraging that I only have to work out 10-15 minutes each time and will be seeing results! It's amazing. I recommend this video very highly. You will need one set of 5-lb weights and one set of 2-3-lb weights, though, just so you know, but it works! Oh, and Denise's voice does not bother me at all - I think she sounds really sweet. I say that because some other reviewers said they didn't like it. Great video!

5-0 out of 5 stars You have found the right video! Read Review.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great results
This video is simple but it still produces results. 3 short workouts.

5-0 out of 5 stars This one works!
This video works if you do it regularly. I like the 10-15 minute work-out time frame. Some days I do all three work outs (total of 35 minutes) some days I do two, really busy days I do only one. After about one month I noticed a big difference in my entire upper body. Uses light weights. Do these work-outs every other day, not every day.

3-0 out of 5 stars Denise is annoying, but the moves work
I find Denise's voice to sound like a chain smoker, and she is just abarasive and overly peppy. I don't like that she's not actually DOING the moves with weights, but it's good that she actually moves around pointing out good form.

The moves work. So that's what's important, but overall I hope there is a better arms workout out there because I can't stick with this based on Denise. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of Jane Fonda's best!
I LOVE this workout! And I'm not just saying this because I'm Jane Fonda's biggest fan! It's got fun moves and great music! Lesley Lillian sings her hit single "Do It" during the workout. After several days of doing the workout, I found myself singing along! I just love how there's a beginner workout and advanced all in one video! The only time I get to do the workout is when I rent it. It'd be a dream come true if I could purchase this excellent video!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of Jane's best videos!
This video contains two segments, one for the beginner and one for the advanced. I'd say that the beginners' class is more designed for an intermediate student. While this tape's beginners' class is easier than the one on her original Workout video, having a long series of high impact aerobics and some stretches that require a certain amount of flexibility is not a good idea for a new exerciser. The advanced class is pretty much the same as the beginners', with a few added moves which adds to the length of the class.

A lot of the moves are consistent with her early videos, like the original, the Prime Time and the Challenge, but are modified so they are easier to perform. There is always a student doing a modified version of a tough movement so you're not alone if you can't bring your chin to your forehead like Jane. :-)

Quality wise, this is one of her finest videos. She really focuses on exercising safely and effectively. The exercises are performed to enjoyable, yet typically-80's music, since it was made in 1985! I agree that the advanced class is top-quality. The beginners' class has a good warmup, waist and abdominal section. But some of the other sections, mainly the aerobics and the floor stretch are pushing it.

Still, this video is one of her finest and if you're in pretty good shape and can find this tape, I highly recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars A workout classic
I bought my first copy of this workout tape back 1985, after a nicely fit girl in one of my college classes told me she used Jane Fonda's workouts to stay in shape. So I got this tape, used it religously 3-4 times per week and found out what it was like to have a body and energy other people envied. It really is a great beginner tape, I'm what you might call choreographically challenged, but the moves in the workout were fairly simple and the aerobics just enough, at first. Eventually I decided the workout wasn't long enough so I put on a music cassette and made up my own moves, (moves best left unshared) continously rewinding the tape during play so that I could go longer. All that rewinding caused the tape to wear out, and I just ordered what will be my 3rd copy. I do alternate with other work out tapes to avoid monotony, but none have ever beat the stretches at the end of this workout, especially the hip stretches. I always come back to this tape when I need to get back my motivation.

5-0 out of 5 stars An 'Oldie' but a 'Goodie'!
I found this video buried at my parents', as others have, and fell in love with it. In high school I lost 80 POUNDS doing the beginners' portion 5 days a week. I lost the video last year during a move and have been scrambling to find it, until now.
I think I have it memorized!

The aerobics are to terrible music, but (according to jane) you can burn 400 calories in a half hour of her dancy moves. The floor portion is challenging without the use of weights-- your legs, abs, and butt will hurt! Many say her flexibility is daunting during the stretching portion-- but if you build up to her level, your legs especially will show it!

In the era of crunch, 8 minute abs, and Pilates, this stands as an awesome full body workout. Participate in the new, but for variety, try the old!! :)

1-0 out of 5 stars HOW LONG IS IT??
I'm considering purchasing this tape, but before I do, I would like to know how long each of its segments are! Amazon should provide that information automatically! Can anyone help me? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice laid back way to sweat!
I actually bought this tape for a friend who is returning to exercise after a several year lapse- but she has knee problems, so I wanted to check out the intensity and impact of this video. This is low impact, low intensity. I did this one last night- all three miles (the viewer who mentions weights is mistaken- they are referring to a different video, there are no weights in this one). I had fun, worked up a sweat, and couldn't believe I did a three mile walk! I normally do yoga (Patricia Walden), pilates (Jennifer Kries!) and I do some form of cardio everyday (Denise Austin is a fav!). I consider myself to be in great shape. But, some days you just don't want to MOVE. Some days you don't FEEL like exercising. On those days, pop this in! You will hear some lovely Christian music, listen to a motivational speaker (she goes light on the religion), and know that you MOVED and got your heart rate up.

I agree that those who do exercise regularly (me) will need to make the moves slightly bigger and more arm movements to increase intensity- but any workout can be modified. And for those who are just starting out, try the one mile, take it easy, and just see what you can do- You will be surprised at how quickly a mile passes, and how glad you will feel to know that YOU walked one MILE!

And then when you feel stronger progress to two... and then to doing all three miles at once. :-)

I like that Leslie says this workout is to help you *connect*- physicially, mentally, and *spiritually*. I think this is going to be a great workout for my friend!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great For Beginners!
I think these workouts are wonderful! They have easy moves... the music is great... and Leslie really helps to motivate you! I would recommend this workout tape to beginners or those of us who don't like/can't do hard moves (like placing your foot above your head). I also enjoy this workout because I can do it in only 20 minutes... and if I want a harder workout, I can add simple things, like bigger arm movements, on my own! This video would probably be great for older adults too! Best of all... it inspired my faith! Leslie challenged me to take care of the body that God has given me! (Although I did not agree with her comment that there is exercise equipment in Heaven! I thought that when I got there... I would instantly become a size 4!!!)

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for Christians and non-Christians
I have been doing this video almost every day for the last several weeks. I always look forward to this fun and simple workout. In the past I have dreaded my other workout tapes and barely gotten through them. I have noticed that Leslie has a little trouble staying on beat at times so I just look away and keep my own pace with the music.

I am not a Christian, but do not mind the music at all. I would recommend this tape and any of her others.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's Working for Me!
This workout is really working for me. In two months, I've lost inches on my waist and other "problem areas". It's very upbeat and helped me beat the winter blues. The setting and music is great. My only complaint is that Leslie could be accused of being too positive - sometimes I have to turn the volume off and just do the workout quietly or to other musice.

4-0 out of 5 stars a lite toning video - great for non-exercisers, older adults
I have rented Leslie Sansone walking videos from the library and really liked them. I thought this would be a recently made walking video, so I ordered it. This is a fine video, but it's not a walking video. Get this only if you want a weights-optional toning video. In this video you work on muscle strengthening, not walking. So choose carefully. Happy exercising! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow! What an unexpected surprise!
I saw this video at a local discount store and picked it up on a whim. I didn't expect much, but it was cheap, so I grabbed it.

What a pleasant surprise! I use this video regularly and definitely feel and see the results. Michelle Dozios clearly explains and demonstrates every move but is never condescending, irritating or intrusive. She also shows modifications for beginners and advanced exercisers, plus demonstrations of what NOT to do.

I'm not a Pilates expert, but I've seen some of these positions before on other Pilates videos, so I'm guessing they're pretty standard. You'll really feel it in your abs. (I think that overall, Pilates is much more effective -- and interesting -- than crunches for toning abs. I know I see a big difference when I do this video regularly.)

This is purely Pilates. There's no cardio, no weights. I like to alternate this video with cardio and weight work; additionally, you can skip the ab section on your other videos and use this instead.

This is a great intro to Pilates, and you sure can't beat the price. I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Introduction to Pilates
This DVD has none of the lush production of other Pilates DVDs or tapes that I have seen. The music accompanies rather than inspires or encourages. The studio is Spartan.

What this DVD is is a solid introduction to the beginning and intermediate levels of Pilates. There is an introduction about 10 minutes long that explains the significance of and the proper position for the powerhouse and spinal alignment. The instructor, Michelle, takes the time to teach the proper method of breathing during the exercises.

After the introduction, there are two groups of exercises at the beginning and intermediate levels. The beginning group of exercises has 18 basic Pilates exercises. It looks like the intermediate group has about the same number.

The strength of this DVD is that each exercise is demonstrated in a detailed fashion along with easier and more challenging variations. You should have little ambiguity performing the exercise correctly after listening to the explanation and seeing the exercise performed. In addition, common problems encountered performing each exercise are shown in an exaggerated fashion, so you clearly understand what not to do.

I had read two highly recommended books on Pilates, but seeing the DVD really put it all together for me. After using the DVD 3 times this week, I am feeling muscles I haven't felt in years and have developed a sense of when I am not standing properly or slumped over at the desk. I did have a low grade lower backache for a couple of days (which is somewhat normal according to the books) but that has passed.

I recently also joined a health club where they offer free Pilates Mat workouts. After watching one session and working out one session at the health club, it clear how much better the instructor on the DVD is.

Finally, for me, this workout would not work on VHS format. I really enjoy the ability to step through the exercises rather than FFW or REV.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Basic Pilates Program for Surgery Recovery!
I am a very active person (aerobics, walking, running) who recently underwent bunion surgery. I did not look forward to several weeks off my feet and being generally inactive. I use this program daily to keep myself active, since very few of the exercises require you to be on your feet. There are only a few that require flexing of the foot while bearing weight on the toes, which I don't do yet. This program has been a godsend for me!

5-0 out of 5 stars A good start for beginners
This DVD gives you a basic workout which is very easy to follow and. despite being very simple, it's quite effective. It's great for people like me, who had no previous knowledge about what Pilates is or how it works. The instructions are very clear and Michelle does a good job encouraging you all along the video. In addition to this, you get more basic or more challenging versions of some of the excercises, and quick tips to avoid some common mistakes that you may unconsciously make. After some sessions, you really get to feel the so-called "Powerhouse". If you're tired of dull gym routines and don't like the en vogue tendency of having big muscles, Pilates (as well as yoga) will really help you. ... Read more

Jane Fonda on Valium--that's what Leslie Sansone seems like in Walk &Firm for Older Adults. But that's a good thing, especially if you're the"older" person this half-hour is aimed at. Sansone takes you through her gentlein-home walking program with a peppy (but not too chipper) spirit on a set thatlooks like a barely furnished living room. She doesn't bother with a cast ofdozens--it's just you and your private exercise guru. After a low-key warm-upthat includes walking, mild kicks, and mini-squats, the pace picks up. Mildaerobic exercise is interspersed with firming and strengthening, using weightsof 2 pounds or less. Throughout, she cautions against doing a move that seemstoo difficult or using a weight that feels too heavy. This is aerobics for thereluctant exerciser: The only thing that really matters is that you keep moving.--Valerie J. Nelson ... Read more

Weight training is quickly becoming the workout of choice for men andwomen alike. These regimens incorporate resistance exercises that can increase bone density and metabolism while creating more lean muscle. Tracy York's Shaping Up with Weights for Dummies will introduce these fundamental strength training exercises in language that even a first-time weightlifter will understand. York debunks fitness myths, describes muscle groups, and focuses on the safe execution of each exercise. All of the major muscle groups are trained through 12 basic exercises that are cleverly coined "The Daily Dozen." A series of upper- and lower-body exercises are done in two sets of 12, with stretching spliced between each interval. York makes great use of these stretching segments to emphasize body alignment and proper form (however, these breaks may provide too much down time for the experienced fitness buff). This session delivers a four-minute warm-up, 35 minutes of resistance training (stretches, too), and five minutes of abdominal work. Light hand weights are recommended, but the first-time strength trainer may want to try this format without any weights. Overall this is a stellar pick if you are new to weightlifting, not familiar with muscle groups, or just need to brush up on the basics. Although the music is less than toe-tapping, this information-packed video will leave you anything but dumb.--Olivia Voigts ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent program for beginners
This video is an excellent guide to beginning weight lifting. The instructor explains various exercises and the importance of proper positioning during the exercises. There is plenty of time between exercises for setup and the exercises selected involve all the main muscle groups. I've used this program for three months and have definitely noticed results.

5-0 out of 5 stars An exceptional instructional video
I am a total novice when it comes to strength training. When I decided it was time to start lifting weights, I went out looking for a video I could use with ease. After buying, and not being able to keep up with, videos by Karen Voight and The Firm, I came across "Shaping Up With Weights for Dummies".

I have to admit, this tape is a God send for someone such as myself.

The instructor, Tracy York, was a good choice for this tape. Tracy, like the exercises themselves, is understated yet effective. Tracy talks non-stop throughout the video explaining in great depth how to execute each move properly and which muscles are impacted by the move. Without being too peppy, she explains strength training jargon and subtly encourages the viewer to hang in there through the burn.

There are 12 exercises in total. They are all moves you would be familiar with--squats, lunges, bicep curls, crunches, push-ups, etc etc. Both the lower and upper body get attention. Each exercise is done in two sets of 12 reps. You may think basic moves done in two sets may seem too simple. (I did.) But after the first few times I did this video, I was a bit sore the next day.

There is also just as much attention paid to stretching after each set as there is given to performing the set itself.

Like with the "for Dummies" books, this video includes little extras. Each move shows a brief split screen showing how to modify the move to either make it easier or more challenging. There are also quick blurbs that pop up as the viewer is doing the sets offering good form reminders, common-sense health tips and fitness myths demystified.

Overall, I believe, this is an excellent tape for the beginner who needs to build up proper form and skill.

However, this tape does have it's flaws.

While the thorough explanations of each move are essential, the long-winded verbal instruction gets really annoying really fast. After the first few times, and after I had grasped everything Tracy was saying, I found myself jogging in place for a good 2-3 minutes and getting really impatient while I waited for her to move on to the next move. There is just too much chatter in between exercises.

Once you get through establishing proper form, and once you get through doing one or two practice reps, the set begins and progresses rather quickly. This waiting and waiting between sets and then rushing through the sets leaves the workout feeling completely disjointed and lacking in flow.

Because the workout is so basic, I can easily see myself, after I memorize each move, doing this workout on my own and at my own pace without the video. And this goal allows me to forgive all that is lacking with this video. It does effectively teach all that one needs to get started in strength training. I couldn't ask for anything more.

As an instructional video, it is exceptional. As a workout video, it is lacking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied
I'm 37 and and out of shape, in the low 200s. I usually shy away from "for dummies" products. The exercises are good, the instruction is good, the music is good, and she's NOT too cute or too perky. Using this video 2-3 times / week (alternating with cardio) for a month now I can see and feel a difference, and have increased weight on half the exercises. It feels like a "made by women for women" product. Modifications are offered for beginning and advancing. It's worth paying full price for (my highest compliment). Includes warm up and streching, also.

5-0 out of 5 stars May be what you're looking for
I'm a middle age woman in reasonable shape. I walk an hour a day, several days a week. I wanted to add weight lifting to my exercise routine. Kathy Smith tape was too energetic & fast paced for me. So I got this "dummies" video from the library. It seemed more instructive & moved at a pace I preferred. I finally broke down & bought the video. At first I thought I'd fast forward through the stretch exercises in between the weight lifting exercises, but I soon realized how great the stretch exercises were so that I didn't wear myself out by the time I finished. I love the thoroughness of the tape, exercising all muscle groups, and the instructor's all around style is subtle but effect & I liked her explaining what muscles are worked in each exercise. I buy very few tapes, but I recommend this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Video Great pace
Great Video. I love it. I have something I can follow. She goes through each move and lets you know what is going to happen. You can keep up with the vidoe. Great explainations. Can be done 2-4 times a week. The best in weights and I've tried a lot. Also works lower boday great. You can make it more challenging if you like. I'm very pleased with this video. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect
If only the upper body toning and the aerobics routine were a little bit longer, this would be a perfect workout video. As it is, it's excellent. The aerobics section is only 25 minutes aerobic. I'd prefer it to be 30 minutes or more. And I'll like either more reps or more variety for the upper body toning. But the lower body toning is just great. Even with the caveats, this workout will give you results. It's also fun and versatile. You can increase the weights as you get stronger, and you can move from low impact to mixed or high impact as you get more fit. This one video can easily last you all the way from Beginner to Intermediate.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jane Fonda's Complete Workout
I have done aerobics with Jane Fonda for over 10 years, and this is her best EVERYDAY tape! There are three ways of doing it, so it's difficult to get bored. Jane Fonda is unsurpassed when it comes to interesting, safe, fat-burning workouts. The weight routine is effective because you can use several different weight dumbbells. You also have 30 minutes of aerobics that alternates between low and high impact. This is a great fat burning, muscle building video workout. Beginners and advanced can give it a try. Either way, if you work out at home, this is one that belongs in your video library!

5-0 out of 5 stars Jane Fonda still rules!
I've had the pleasure of owning this tape for over 3 years and it's still great! It really gives the complete workout fast and easily and yet you feel that you have achived some REAL results. I have never been a big believer in gymnastic videos, but after trying this one I was addicted. The video is easy to learn, fun and with a good tempo. Jane Fonda has help from two other teachers and especially Lauren Sparks makes you want to keep on going on a higher level even though you almost can't do it anymore! The video is basically in 3 parts, upperbody workout, aerobics and lowerbody workout. All the movements are shown and explained carefully and Jane keeps on reminding you of what to do and what not to do. It's safe and intelligent. The video keeps your sprits up and makes you feel good. Combine this video with the Lean Routine and you will get an excellent workout! I'm 23 and living in the 21st century and Jane Fonda still rocks!

1-0 out of 5 stars lazy burn
Due to the other ratings (five stars), i bought this video, thinking it would be a good workout. It is lazy. I am not obsessed about calorie burning nor building up muscle, but i do like to work it out and challenge the different parts of the body with motion. This video does not have you lifting your legs up, to the sides and back, it gives few reps of each and it is seriously no pain and no gain. The ladies on it clearly worried more about their eighties big hairs and less about exercising for reals!! Don't buy it if you have the habit of exercising regularly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Video!
I borrowed this video from a friend of mine, and it is great! It's the perfect workout for the average person who wants a good exercise routine. Yes, the cheesy 80's music, hair, outfits etc. are a little hard to get past at first, but once you do the video a few times you start to get used to it. ... Read more

I excercise five times a week with one of Leslie's videos plus once a week weight training class. I'm in my late forties and have dropped cholesterol and blood pressure with this program. This workout is quite easy if you can do Leslie's other tapes. I like the fact that she is alone and doesn't talk to people excercising with her. She demonstrates the moves well. The Challenge with the stretchie band is also easy to follow and does not prove difficult. I'm not sore the day or two after either. One segment explains the moves. The two excercise segments takes about 20 min. each. Frankly, I'd like to see more Walk Away the Pounds with more weights and stretchie-band routines and let others lead the Pilates. Leslie has found her niche with the walking videos and should stay with that. ... Read more
