Want to get at the heart of the Pokémon craze? Fast-forward to the end of this video to see the video exclusive PokéRap, a music video that lists all 151 collectable Pokémon. That's right: 151 creatures to collect.Think of them as the starting lineup of all the NBA teams. Instead of knowing a player's stats, Pokémon fans have to memorize creature types and a Pokémon's certain strength.

This video contains three episodes from the animated Pokémon TV series. Our intrepid heroes Ash and his friends continue their quest, collecting Pokémon along the way. In "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village," the heroes stumble on to a Pokémon health spa where injured Pokémon creatures can take in a little R&R.The courageous Bulbasaur that defends the spa does not take kindly to Ash's desire to be his trainer (and keep him in his Pokéball storage container). "Charmander--The Stray Pokémon" finds the cute title character abandoned on a rock awaiting a new owner. The poor critter will die if his tail light ever goes out. What will he do in the upcoming thunderstorm? The title characters in "Here Comes the Squirtle Squad" are water-spouting beasts with Jack Nicholson sunglasses and a one-word vocabulary ("squirtle, squirtle" is heard in a dozen different variations).Of course, Team Rocket is there to foil our heroes and steal Ash's valuable Pikachu. --Doug Thomas ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The plot progresses in an odd way. Still good though.
So, our "hero" Ash got lost on his ay to the 3rd gym.Doesn't really surpise me.. Anyway, after stumbling through a bunch of traps, he finds the Hidden Village (TM), a spa for abandoned pokemon. It's protected by a Bulbasaur since pokemon thieves would certainly like to catch all these injured pokemon. Of course Jessie and James show up, and Ash decides to help Bulbasaur to beat them. Melanie, Bulbasaur's trainer, asks Ash to take Bulbasaur along on his journey so he can grow stronger. So there we have another pokemon.
Later, the group finds a Charmander on a rock in the woods. It's waiting for it's trainer, so Ash can't really catch it. A bit later, at the pokemon center, he overhears Damian, Charmander's trainer, brag about how he abandoned his pokemon. After Brock beats up Damian, Ash and the others save the pokemon. The next morning, Charmander is gone again, but it returns to save Ash and Pikachu from Jessie and James, who have appearantly used their heads for a change, and donned electric-proof suits. They weren't fireproof though. Damian returns and want Charmander back, but Charmander burns him and goes with Ash instead.
Even later, the group meets a gang of Squirtles who are terrorizing a nearby town. After teaming up with Meowth, they kidnap Ash and the others so Jessie and James can get Pikachu. Jessie has other plans, and decides to bomb the Squirtle Squad to death with a lot of bombs dropped from their balloon. Meanwhile, Ash tries to save Pikachu by getting a Super Potion, but is knocked out by Gary. When he returns, Jessie and James have started their attack. Ash saves the leader Squirtle when he breaks his leg in the battlefield (and is unable to run from the bombs) and together they destroy the balloon and puut out the fire. The Squirtle leader decides to go with Ash.

Well, certainly a decent batch of episodes, even though it seems a bit silly that Ash catches all three starter pokemon at once. But if he didn't, I'm sure we would've gotten a bunch of ... filler between these episodes, so it's okay. But he really should get to the 3rd gym soon. In the Charmander episode it appears he's headed North of Cerulean, which means he's been walking in a circle for 3 episodes. Hm.

5-0 out of 5 stars New Pokemon all over!
This DVD introduces you to three Pokemon that will play a major role throughout the entire season and beyond. Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are their names, and get ready for an hour of nothing but them (in a good way):

Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village - The three heroes find a trainer, Melanie, who spends her time in a small cabin, caring for injured Pokemon until they can go back into the wild. But when Team Rocket come to cabin, will both Ash and Melanie's Pokemon be enough to defeat them?

Charmander: The Stray Pokemon - Ash, Misty and Brock find a weak Charmander on a Mountain path. When the Pokemon refuses to be caught, the team decides that it is waiting for someone. But they later discover that its trainer abandoned the Charmander. Can Ash rescue the Pokemon before its flame goes out?

Here Comes the Squirtle Squad - When a group of Squirtle stops Ash from getting closer to Vermilion City, Pikachu gets hurt. Ash runs for a healing potion, but will Pikachu still be okay when he gets back?

All that with the full-length Pokerap at the end! With good video/audio, the only bad thing here would be if you didn't like the show. Followed by "Thunder Shock!".

3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable series but too expensive
Pokémon is the story about Ash Ketchum and his friends, Misty Williams and Brock Harrison. Ash's goal is to become a Pokémon Master. Misty's goal is to be "the best at everything" but, more specifically, a Water Pokémon Master. Brock's goal is to be the world's best Pokémon breeder. Pokémon are the animals that inhabit their world. They come in many different species (mouse, cat, dog, etc.) and types (electric, grass, water, fire, etc.). Each Pokémon trainer trains his or her Pokémon to battle other Pokémon and win badges to compete in Pokémon Leagues. Ash, Misty, and Brock must deal with Jessie, James, and Meowth of the evil Team Rocket, who want to steal Ash's first Pokémon, Pikachu, and usually other Pokémon as well. This Japanese animation series is an advertisement for the Pokémon video games, and the episodes' plots are usually simple, but this is actually an enjoyable series. Common themes are friendship, not giving up, parting ways with a dear friend, and other good morals. Parents and guardians that are concerned about the violence need not worry. Yes, the kids have their pets fight each other, but they also must learn to take care of and love their pets. Girls will find a strong female role model in Misty. Overall, this is a fun, simple, warm-hearted, rather repetitive series. However, despite how much I like the anime, the DVDs are not worth your money. Each episode is probably less than twenty minutes long, and there are only three episodes on each DVD. You would be paying the price of this DVD for around one hour of Pokémon. That's ridiculous. They don't even include the Japanese vocal tracks with English subtitles or the fun music videos from the TV airings. You can rent these same English-dubbed episodes on VHS. If you really want this series on DVD, my advice to you is to buy the movies and the special, "Mewtwo Returns", and wait for box sets of the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best Pokemon Movie ever!
I really like this video.Ash ends up catching all the starting Pokemon that he could have gotten from Prof. Oak. In Bulbasaurs hidden village Team Rocket attemps to steal Pokemon from a place for pokemon to recover in the forest. In Charmander:The Stray Pokemon Ash and his freinds have to save a abandoned Charmander. In here comes the squirtle squad Team Rocket has convinced a gang of squirtles to help them but Ash,Misty, and Brock manage to convince them that Team Rocket are the bad ones.

2-0 out of 5 stars not my fave
altho i usually like pokemon, this video was never my favorite. it does introduce 3 important pokemon, squirtle, charmander, and bulbasaur, but the cartoons are fairly boring, esp. the 1 about bulbasaur. the srtay charmander is kinda cute, and the squirtle squad aint so bad, but cuda been better. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars An Underrated and Relatively Unknown Little Actioner
Fans of the Guyver Manga, Anime and original live-action flick will get a kick out of this sometimes cheesy, but thoroughly entertaining flick. Sporting talent that includes Director Steven Wang (who also directed Drive, the Power Rangers Movie, and did special FX for a wide range of Horror and Sci-Fi movies) and David Hayter (voice actor for Solid Snake and writer of the X-Men movie screenplay) in the lead role of Sean Barker, Guyver 2 improves upon the original with a stronger emphasis on martial arts, drama, and character development.

Special effects, such as the transformation of Sean into the Guyver are either cleverly hidden, or done courtesy of CGI that still manages to impress nowadays. A well-done score by Les Claypool III helps add a dark mood and sense of urgency to many scenes, particularly fight scenes.

The majority of people seem to either love or hate this film, and I fall into the latter category; it's definitely gots its weak points with some cheesy villain character designs, gangster cliches (as depicted in the opening intro sequence), and the usual romance involving a cynical woman who eventually warms to a misunderstood hero. But all in all, it's definitely worth a rental for Sci-Fi fans who want some high quality cinematic junk food.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic comic-book movie!
The first movie (released as "Mutronics" in UK/Europe for some reason) was good but a bit too silly here & there.

This sequel is everything you should expect from a live-action Guyver movie - great fight scenes, blood & guts, fantastic special effects (especially for it's time), cool costumes and scary, disgusting looking (rubber!) monsters.

If they made a Guyver movie today, it would be CGI and zappy-zap effects and explosions all over the place.
Guyver 2 (or Guyver: Dark Hero) has discreet, early CGI which doesn't overpower the rough & readiness of this great movie. And it has to be said: The transformation scenes are really cool - the best being when he jumps off a cliff and shouts Guyver and transforms in mid-air!

Overall, this is a fantastic piece of sci-fi/comic book junk-food cinema which is still as great now as it was nearly a decade ago.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best
I think that this movie is better than the first one. Plus, this movie is good enough to be in anybody's movie collection. To help better explain how sweet this movie is I am going to compare it to Spawn. The reason why I think these two movies are similar (and sweet) is because of the theme that both movies hold, how the main characters changed (mentally and physically) after recieving their new powers, how awsome their costumes were, and the carnage each of them released upon their enemies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Everything the first *should* have been...
The first movie was junk, and a complete and utter disappointment on just about every possible level.

This film was about as good as an anime to live action adaptation can be without a big hollywood budget behind it. It kept the mood of the original manga and anime, and even though the film was probably on an even tighter budget than the first, Steve Wang did a great job of masking the special effect deficiencies with good lighting and camera work. The acting was surprisingly good for this kind of film, with the lead David Hayter being the standout as the Guyver's tormented host, and the fight scenes were very well done.

I'm eagerly anticipating the remastered widescreen DVD version, and will be picking it up the day it's released. Thanks, New Line!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Sequal
When I saw "The Guyver 1", I thought that it was one of the very best superhero/sci-fi films ever made, ranking on a list of greats like "BatMan", "SuperMan", "Spider-Man", and "DareDevil." When I saw "Guyver 2", I thought that they had captured the essence of a superhero that didn't know if he was a good guy or not, like the same dilemma that was bestowed upon DareDevil in his film.

This has all the makings of a good "Comicbook-to-movie" film that it's over and above any understanding that superhero fans don't check out this film. It has good fight scenes (although some of the dialogue is a bit campy) and the special effects are good considering that it's an indie film. This is a must-see for all sci-fi and superhero fans alike. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Trunks... who is he?
Having just seen the Frieza saga and REALLY wanting to know what happened to Goku (he's my favorite character), I was eagerly awaiting these episodes. While I waited, I saw the Garlic Junior saga... oh boy, what a disappointment. That saga is pretty bad. So are these next episodes a blessing, or just another disappointment? Let's find out.

The story starts off a little slow and silly with the first episode, but it's got some good laughs in it worthy of mentioning. Vegeta's new t-shirt for one thing has to be seen to be believed! ^_^ The first episode ends in a typical DBZ way; we see Frieza and his father approaching Earth. The next episode is a lot different from the first, it's very serious and tense. I remember my stomach churning as the Z Warriors prepared to face Frieza. And then, we are treated to the introduction of a really neat new character: Trunks. Of course, at this point, we have no clue who he is. But I found myself instantly start to like him as he shows off his powers and attacks Frieza... with style!

In the cut version of the third episode, people are left hanging because they want to know if Frieza survived... well, in the uncut version, we pretty much know the answer to that. ;)

I really enjoyed these episodes, and I can't wait for the next volume.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trunks: One of the most anticipated people since... Bob Dole
Im just kidding about that Bob Dole thing. Please don't take that seriously, but still. When I saw the first preview for Trunks, I rewound the tape and watched it again, and again. It blew me away. This tape is amazing. It starts out with Gohan getting a terror tutor from HFIL(censored version of down below ;-) ) and then Gohan and the gang on Earth feel a strong force coming toward them. They realize they have precious few hours remaining until the arrival of,... FRIEZA! Frieza didnt come alone, he brought back up in the form of King Cold. Watch the tape to see their relation. The Z-Warriors prepare to take on Goku's most formitable nemesis and maybe with the help of Vegeta, they have a chance. As Freiza's spaceship lands, the evil force is confronted by a young man with purple hair.--- Trunks has come. I strongly suggest getting this tape. It proceeds the plot more and sets up the stage for the next saga which is soon to begin.

5-0 out of 5 stars another great set in a great series
This two disc saga is a great addition to a great series

5-0 out of 5 stars Approaching Danger
This DVD starts out slow with Gohan getting a tutor but quickly becomes interesting with the appearence of the new and improved Frieza. The Z fighters gather and decide to try and sneak-up on Frieza, King Cold, and their men. All of a sudden a mysterious stranger shows up on the battlefield and challenges Frieza. I won't spoil the rest because it is truely amazing. You have to see the fight for yourself to understand how incredible it is. This DVD is a must have for any DragonBall Z fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another Super Saiyan?!!!
While Goku is still out in space, Gohan is in the School of Hard Knocks, literally. But then he senses a presence. Is it possible? Is Frieza still alive? It looks like it and it looks like it he and his father King Cold are heading to earth and the Z fighters are faced with a dilemma without Goku, but who is this purple haired dude? Does he have a death wish? It looks like this unknown soldier seems to have made a wild claim to destroy Frieza, but when he transforms into a super saiyan, it's obvious that Frieza is no match for this mysterious youth. But when Frieza did his Death Ball attack and blasted a hole in it, it looked like he finished off this unknown Super Saiyan, but he launched a explosive attack and he was about to slice Frieza in half. Is the terror really over? Has Frieza finally been destroyed? And who is this unknown Super Saiyan? Watch more of this short saga and find out!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hunting and Non-Hunting Perspectives
This documentary is a boy's story about his African Safari. It provides an excellent insight into hunting, particularly African hunting and how it relates to the preservation of game. Not only does it present someinteresting historical ties and rarely seen footage to Teddy Roosevelt'sfamous 1909 safari, but it also accurately depicts important issues of pastand present game management issues. I highly recommend this film for thehunter and non-hunter.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most excellent video on Hunting ever produced.
Although the video captured today's East Africa, it is a combination of old and new.Using Roosevelt the Greater as the focal point, this video does more to explain the mystery and charm of hunting as anything I haveever seen.I love animals better than most people but Hunting is in theabsolute core and makeup of mankind. To ignore this is a tragedy. No Japanese animation artist has a more vociferous following in America than Osamu Tezuka (1926-89). An important figure in both the history of manga (comics) and animation, Tezuka is sometimes referred to as "The God of Manga" and "The Walt Disney of Japan"; many anime artists began their careers working on his films and television programs. In the U.S. he's better known for the TV series Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion than for his theatrical films.

Astro Boy, originally Tetsuwan Atom (literally "Iron-Arm Atom"), focused on a boy superrobot created by Dr. Tenma (Dr. Boynton in America), a scientist whose son had been killed in a traffic accident. When Astro Boy failed to mature as a real child would, the inventor sold him to a circus. He was rescued by the kinder Dr. Ochanomizu (Dr. Elefun), who taught him altruism and virtue, which led the robot to become a crime fighter, battling an assortment of aliens and mad scientists. The short, pudgy Astro Boy had a saucer-eyed look, inspired by the old Fleischer cartoons; scores of other artists followed Tezuka's lead and gave their characters the large eyes that one critic dubbed "ocular elephantiasis." Astro Boy debuted in Japan on Fuji TV, January 1, 1963, and premiered in America in syndication on September 7, 1963. One hundred four of the black-and-white episodes were shown in the U.S. --Charles Solomon ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Bittersweet exposure
This cassette was my first exposure to an animated Astro Boy, and while I was thrilled with the cartoons, the video quality was less than perfect. The flaw was in the recording, however, and not in the cassette (in other words, the cassette wasn't damaged). Other copies may not contain the same flaw, and the episodes are a fun, black and white trip back in time, so I recommend the video for anyone looking for an enjoyable anime history lesson. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Both Sub and Dub Are Awesome: a Must for Tenchi Lovers
I saw both the subtitled and dubbed version of this movie, and they were both VERY good. The story is about a girl, Mayuka, who comes from the future claiming to be Tenchi's daughter. Of course the whole household is upset by this, Ryoko especially. The main villian was Yuzuha, a demon from Grandfather's past on Jurrai. If you enjoy Tenchi, you have to get this. The animation is top quality. The dubbing is good, although a few voices were recast. And the subtitled version gives you the original feeling of the movie, with easy reading. (And only one mistake through the whole hour!) This was a truly great movie, and a must for anime lovers! Also, if you've seen the movie and enjoyed it, you might be interested in getting the soundtrack for it, which is also available and is very good too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tenchi Muyo the movie 2: Daughter of Darkness
This tenchi movie is probably as good as the first movie. There is a lot of comic relief in the beginning and more serious issues toward the end. The music and effects are very good, though i think that the first movie had more fighting and action than this does. The movie takes place at Tenchi's house and it is beautiful summer day. As tenchi and the rest of the gang rest peacefully in the sun, a mysterious person (you really couldn't consider her a person) watches over them. This woman of darkness creates a girl a little younger than tenchi by a strand of her hair and a strand of tenchi's hair. As tenchi is talking a walk, she appears before his eyes. Washew is very suspicious the way she appeared and royko is VERY suspicious of her. For some odd reason, she calls tenchi daddy which makes everyone sort of crazy. If your a royoko fan, you'll like this movie. In many parts, many of the issues deal with royoko both in good ways and bad ways. Anyway this movie is excellent and I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars maybe because of personal interest of more battling between vilians and good guys and the length. It should have been longer like the first movie, this was too short for me especially at the very ending Other than that, it is a great movie

5-0 out of 5 stars A girl walks out of the forest...
and claims to be Tenchi's daughter. Mayuka not only looks kind of like him, but she can even call up Jurai power in the form of a Light Hawk Wing, just like Tenchi! As Ryoko and Ayeka become jealous and see the young girl as a new rival, will Washu and the others find out what's going on?
In the end it turns out of be a grudge over 700 years old! And it happens to be against Yosho!
How will Tenchi save his friends against the Demon of Darkness and will he also feel the need to save Mayuka, daughter or not?
Talking toys, adult scenes and a mature plot makes this movie something the kids might NOT wish to watch.

4-0 out of 5 stars A cool movie.
It was true to the original TV series, Tenchi universe, and was fun to watch.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst ranma video ever.....
This is by far the worst and only worst video of Ranma. The two stories are not even funny, as a matter afact there boring. However, I am a ranma fan. So naturally, I had to get it. I think they ran out ideas for this one. Although, the martial mayhem is tending to be Ranma's best Season. This video stinks.:(- Oh, well. There has to be one sometime. Even Fushigi yugi has it's faults somewhere. Nothings perfect.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hello!
Almost all Ranma episodes i have seen are very funny or have a really really cute ranma in it, so if you like ranma as much as any fanatic... there is no-risk in buying this. And what's a little money for entertainment? ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Rainbow Robots from Outer Space!
High school student Nagisa Kono has been having strange dreams, of late. Faceless nightmare figures haunt and pursue her. Soon, the nightmares manifest in her waking life - first by hallucination, and then in reality. Finally, her parents transform into something monstrous and attack her - and not just them, but other people on the block, as well. What is going on?

As Nagisa's neighborhood begins turning into a Lovecraftian battle zone, a guardian angel appears to Nagisa to inform her of her special destiny. The angel's name is Iczer One, and she is a warrior robot specifically designed and engineered to connect with Nagisa and repel the invasion of the Cthuwulf, a predatory alien race with designs on Earth. Earth's planetary defense forces are fully aware of the problem and dealing with it as best they can - but if Nagisa does not assist Iczer One, they will shortly be overwhelmed.

This is one of the best - and most accessible - of the early style Japanime titles. It suffers from the usual drawbacks of the genre, namely from an overkill of more sci-fi story elements than can easily be comprehended in a short period of time and a music score consisting for the most part of bad '70s disco.

However, its assets easily outweigh its shortcomings. The first installation does little more than lay out the exposition and set up the rousing battles to come, but it does so with great style. The coloring is exceptionally vivid, the artwork clean. The story is gripping, and interestingly developed. As is usual in this genre, the spaceships and monsters get a lot of airtime, and are pretty memorable - the latter looking like varied oversized hybrid insects. The alien spaceships include a giant flying pyramid and a hollow moon.

The characters are what make this piece work, almost all of whom are female and gorgeous, and virtually the entire alien lot of which are designated solely by names of a single color: Cobalt, Sepia, Sir Violet and Big Gold, etc. There is the usual suggestion of homoeroticism, but that element and a single brief semi-nude shower scene are both sufficiently tame and subtle that they are safely viewable by any pre-teenager - the violence is actually more graphic than the mild sex, with the monsters emerging parasitically from inside human host bodies, tearing them apart in the process.

This video does not stand well by itself, failing to come to a conclusion and requiring its second half for true satisfaction. But it is a good first half, and succeeds in doing what it sets out to do - which is to convince you to buy Part 2, and watch the rest of the story.

5-0 out of 5 stars A spectacular and heart-wrenching conclusion!
The third act doesn't miss a bit as it takes the viewers from the destroyed earth to the alien base, where Iczer-1 alone must sacrifice everything in order to save the planet. The action sequences are superb, though short, and the drama certainly provoked a few trickles of tears from me!

5-0 out of 5 stars An anime classic!
Realistically, the alien invasion comes and goes too quickly... BUT the action, the story, and the characters are so involving that you don't think about that. Instead, you are drawn into a dark, surreal world of monsters, power, loyalty and emotion. Excellent representative of anime at its best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great ending to a great anime
If you were lucky enough to pick up the first two volumes, then you must get this. I also must say that the mech designs I felt had vastly improved over the previous two acts and although the battles may be short, they are spectacular. A must see anime classic.

3-0 out of 5 stars A must have for all lovers of japanimation
The iczer series are the type of videos that get less confusing the more you watch them... they are extremely well done and definately a must see for me this is a 5 star movie (as are all Iczer flicks)...but in fairness to all I will give it the more proper rating of 3 stars for the confusion aspect! ...
