Hamtaro is an English-language adaptation of the 2000 series Tottoko Hamtaro (Hamtaro the Hamster). With his outsized round head, huge eyes, big ears, and tiny limbs, Hamtaro is another aggressively cute little character in the tradition of Hello Kitty and Pikachu. In "Hamtaro, Please Come Home," his owner Laura and her parents move into a new house in the suburbs. While they're unpacking, Hamtaro sneaks out to explore and starts making friends with other hamsters: nervous Oxnard, pushy Boss, and pretty Bijou. (The neighborhood is apparently overrun with the little rodents.) The episodes quickly fall into a pattern: Laura socializes with her new classmates--most of whom also have hamsters--while Hamtaro secretly meets his pals, the Ham-Hams, in their underground clubhouse. Hamtaro is a harmless entertainment for preschoolers, although their older siblings may dismiss it as saccharine and sappy. Unrated: suitable for all ages. --Charles Solomon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great for kids ages 4-9
My daughter loves these shows and she is slowly collecting all the toys to go with them. This movie has a positive message and super cute. Girls may like it better than boys. The only drawback is the 'typical' cheaply produced Japanesse anime so don't be looking for very rich production values.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful begninning...
I admit it... I am 21 years old, and I love Hamtaro! I first discovered the little critter when I was briefly hospitalized over the summer, and since then the show has become one of my favorites.

This DVD is great, because you can finally see where it all started, if you haven't already. I immediately bught this after I was released from the hospital, and it helped brighten my day even though I felt like I was dying.

A must-have for anyone who enjoys upbeat animated antics and who can stand the sappy sweetness this is sometimes overabundant in the show.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hamha, Ham fans!
Hamha! I think the dvd really rocks. Its not just for pre-school because i'm 11 and i like it loads!!! It has got "Hamtaro"+"The Ham-Ham Clubhouse"+"Calling All Ham-Hams!" on it and is the must have for a ham-lover!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gotta love the Ham Hams
Hamtaro busted into our lives one Saturday Morning and now my kids are freaks about Hamtaro and the ham hams. I think the film is cute and I encourage my 5 year old to watch it often. I would recommend it to any parent to buy for their preschooler. You will be charmed~

5-0 out of 5 stars The best anime series ever!!!!

At last, Ash has earned his Marsh Badge! After overcoming a fewPrimape Problems, he also has a new Pokémon under hisbelt. But he's still falling behind the other trainer hopefuls. So Ash,Misty, and Brock hit the road once again on their quest to defeat andcapture more Pokémon. This time, their journey leads to the FightingSpirit Gym, where our gang pits their fighters against such nasties asMachop, Hitmonlee, and Hitmonchan. The kids even manage to enlighten anoverworked trainer who's been neglecting his family. Next they travel toGringy City, a dank, smelly town on the verge of disaster. Thanks toPikachu's magnetism, the town is restored and Ash collects a ratherstinky reward. Finally, lost somewhere in the mountains, the trio solves amystery involving a band of molelike Diglett and the dam project thelittle diggers keep thwarting. This standard sampling of Pokémon fareincludes all the split-screen action, vibrant--sometimespsychedelic--animation, and nicely paced story lines of its other TVepisode collections. A little slapstick humor provided by Team Rocketamuses the 5-year-old crowd, and we hope the "morals" of each 25-minutestory (such as, "When you do a little digging you can always find somethinggood") are not lost on the equally enraptured 10-year-olds. --LianeThomas ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Power!
I love Pokemon, and "Pokemon Fighting Tournament"is one of my favorite videos. It contains 3 episodes, first in"The Punchy Pokemon"Ash enters Primeape in a tournament for fighting pokemon, next in "Sparks Fly For Magnamite" a group of Grimer and Muk cause a power shortage in Grindgy City and it up to Ash and his friends to save the sick pokemon at the pokemon center, then in "Dig Those Digglet" Ash and his friends run into his rival Gary, but theres no time for a pokemon battle they have to solve a problem with Digglet and Dugtrio first, and Team Rocket try to evolve Ekans and Koffings. I recomend this video to all Pokemon fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a great first choice, but a great DVD nonetheless...
Pokemon fans new to the DVD side of things should probably start off with Poke Friends or Thundershock, but for what its worth, this is still a great trio of episodes from Pokemon's 'golden' era.

The first episode on the DVD features Pokemon like Primeape and Hitmonchan in a fighting tournament - very cool episode and virtually the only episode in the series to feature some of these Pokemon. The Grimer/Magnemite episode is just kinda there...nothing too major aside from Ash catching a Muk. The third episode is better than it sounds, featuring the Diglett and Dugtrio, as well as Team Rocket's Pokemon meeting their evolution.

I have most of the released Pokemon DVDs...like I said, I wouldn't reccomend this as the first choice, but you won't be dissapointed in it either way.

3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable series but too expensive
Pokémon is the story about Ash Ketchum and his friends, Misty Williams and Brock Harrison. Ash's goal is to become a Pokémon Master. Misty's goal is to be "the best at everything" but, more specifically, a Water Pokémon Master. Brock's goal is to be the world's best Pokémon breeder. Pokémon are the animals that inhabit their world. They come in many different species (mouse, cat, dog, etc.) and types (electric, grass, water, fire, etc.). Each Pokémon trainer trains his or her Pokémon to battle other Pokémon and win badges to compete in Pokémon Leagues. Ash, Misty, and Brock must deal with Jessie, James, and Meowth of the evil Team Rocket, who want to steal Ash's first Pokémon, Pikachu, and usually other Pokémon as well. This Japanese animation series is an advertisement for the Pokémon video games, and the episodes' plots are usually simple, but this is actually an enjoyable series. Common themes are friendship, not giving up, parting ways with a dear friend, and other good morals. Parents and guardians that are concerned about the violence need not worry. Yes, the kids have their pets fight each other, but they also must learn to take care of and love their pets. Girls will find a strong female role model in Misty. Overall, this is a fun, simple, warm-hearted, rather repetitive series. However, despite how much I like the anime, the DVDs are not worth your money. Each episode is probably less than twenty minutes long, and there are only three episodes on each DVD. You would be paying the price of this DVD for around one hour of Pokémon. That's ridiculous. They don't even include the Japanese vocal tracks with English subtitles or the fun music videos from the TV airings. You can rent these same English-dubbed episodes on VHS. If you really want this series on DVD, my advice to you is to buy the movies and the special, "Mewtwo Returns", and wait for box sets of the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars i love grimer
In sparks fly for magnimite these grimer stop water in the power plant of gringy city and ash catches a pokemon if you need too know . then in dig those digllet the digllet and dugtrio destroy a dam and ekans and koffing evolve.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most amazing cartoon I've ever seen
Gundam Wing has to be THE best Gundam cartoon, not to mention anime, ever made. The plot is marvelously written, but it can sometimes get confusing. At times, I almost didn't know what the point of the story was. If you're new to the Gundam universe, let me brush you up. MS Gundams are incredible battle robots, some armed with weapons that could easily wipe out a military base in 1 easy shot. The Gundams controlled by the main characters in this cartoon are as follows: Sandrock, Wing, Heavy Arms, Shen-Long, and Death Scythe (my personal favorite). These gundams are the top MSs, and each has their own different strengths, much like their pilots. The plot is simple at first, starting with 'destroy OZ' or something along those lines, but slowly get more and more complicated and enthralling. This is a must-have! ... Read more

The world domination of Pokémon begets their first theatricalmovie. This adventure is a little more complex and dark than the popular TV series, but kids who live for the show will gobble up this film and ask for seconds. Those baffled by the show's popularity, however, will see nothing better here. Mewtwo, a new type of Pokémon designed by scientists to be the ultimate fighter, decides he wants to rule the world and challenges all the great Pokémasters to battle. Of course, ourintrepid heroes Ash, Misty, and Brock are there to tangle with Mewtwo and spoil his devilish schemes. The film is a tad more emotional than the show (that is, there is some emotion), with Ash sacrificing himself to defend his belovedPikachu (but don't you worry, Ash will be just fine).

Would you really expect the makers of this worldwide phenomenon to radically change its winning formula? The feature is only 55 minutes long, but there's also a 20-minute short, "Pikachu's Vacation." For the Pokémon novice, this escapade will truly baffle: the narrated talehas virtually no dialogue except Pokémon speaking their names (Bulbasaur, for instance, will only express emotion by using variations of his name: "Bulba, Bulba-SAUR!"). It's a real curio. --Doug Thomas ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon The First Movie Rocks!
I'm a Pokemon fan, and like all Pokemon fans I went to go see the movie. I was expecting an OK movie. Boy was I wrong! This movie totally blew me away. This is the best movie I've ever seen in my entire life! Even most people who think Pokemon is dumb will love this movie.

The storyplot is basically about this Pokemon named Mewtwo who decides all humans are evil after some expieriences with some people who wanted to control him and study him. He calls our heroes to the greatest battle of their life and soon Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu, and some other trainers are the only ones who can stop Mewtwo's plans for world domination.

Unlike the TV show, this has a much more dramatic and action packed plot. I reccomend it to any person who likes a good movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars PKMN One
This movie's plot was deep, and Mewtwo interested me some with...well, basically everything out him. He certainly has a way of getting what he wants, that's for sure! But, yes, wasn't as good as the third, in my view, but pretty close. The plot is the ever common 'let's go save the world' gig.
I'm going out to save the world, mom!
Okay, be back by dinner, honey!
Heh...just had to add that...

5-0 out of 5 stars A mini master piece
When this movie came out on Dvd and Video I brought it the first day it came out. It's the best movie thats out there. A mini Masterpiece in my view. I also like it cause my favorite pokemon Mew is in it. And it's the only way to see Mew in Anime. People that don't know nothing about pokemon may be lost. So you should watch the first episode of pokemon to understand it better. It's a must see for pokemon fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars the first one is the best one!
I havn't seen this movie for two years and i just watched it again for the first time. I'm looking at all the other pokemon movies that have come out since 1999, and this one is way better than all the others!

First of all, great story! It kept me interested till the end. Also, this is the first and last movie were the graphics behind the charectors isn't to advanced for the actual charectors. Ya know, for example, in Pokemon: 4ever, the big Celebi wood thing at the end was too 3-d. It looked like something from pixar. That's whats good about pokemon the first.

Also, it has a great moral to it too. All the other movies are pretty much the same: if you want something bad enough and you try, you get it, or: don't be afraid, or: try your best. This movie's is: it doesn't matter how u were born (in this movie, cloned or born, but in real life, what u look like), but how you look at life and how you decide to live it is what really matters.

The only thing that could be better in it is the 'violence'. It's not really violent like blood or killing or anything like that, it's more like 'fighting to the point of death' sort of thing. But that brings me back to the moral of the story, which is the reason they were fighting in the first place. Also, this movie is sort of sad. I mean, for a while, the main charector actually dies! Then his best friend, Pikachu, is all sad and then he is trying as hard as he can to bring him back to life...........well you know the rest.

Anyway, all in all, this movie is one of my favorite cartoon movies and the very best Pokemon movie! This is a must-have for anyone who is at least interested in Pokemon!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Who cares what the critics say...
Pokemon had a good first movie. It's animation is way better than digimon's and the characters didn't look deformed. The plot was deeper and smoother. It's a must buy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An all out battle royal
Goku finally gets down and dirty with Frieza and Frieza shows off some of his little tricks and traps. Goku, however, isn't easily fooled by these tricks. As Goku and Frieza continue to battle it out, Captain Ginyu (in frog body) manages to switch bodies with Bulma. This gaga follows through out the Frieza saga. The battle scenes were pretty intense and when Frieza reveals hes not using his full stregth, this can mean only more cool stuff to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting and full action
Goku is able to get the best of Frieza in the first two episodes. However in the last episode Frieza powers up more and Goku doesn't do to good after that. At this point it is hard to tell who is going to win. That is why it is so interesting to see what is going to happen next. Captain Ginyu is back as Bulma. You will really like this video.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Battle Begins
This is an excellent beggining to the Goku vs. Freezer fight. In episode 73, "Clash of the Super Powers", Goku uses his Kamehameha attack underwater because Freezer cannot see where he is. Then, Freezer tries some more attacks on Goku, but Goku avoids them so the two decide to start fighting for real.

In episode 74, "Frieza's Boast" , Freezer declares that he'll fight Goku without using his hands. Elsewhere, Captain Ginyu finds a way to switch bodies with Bulma.

In episode 75, "Bold and Fearless" Frezzer powers up to 50 percent of his powers and really starts to beat Goku. Goku tries to use the Kaioken but it is rendered useless.

This is a great video. The music is now being done very well asa are the voices. There are some real good one liners from Goku in this one such as when Freezaer asks Goku if he wants to fight on land or in the air, Goku says "Grounds good. Sure why not? I'm a ground kinda guy" Otherwise the diolouge is done very well. Five Stars ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Ending
These are my favorite 3 episodes of the series. In "Mighty Blast of Rage", Frieza is remembering the past battle with the Z Warriors, and becomes enraged with Goku for beating him. He uses the precious energy Goku gave him to shoot a HUGE blast at the Saiyjin (idiot!), forcing Goku to deliver the finishing blow. In "Namek's Destruction, Goku's End?", Goku is unable to get off Namek before the BANG!, and is swallowed up by the explosion. Then, in "Goku's Alive!", Bulma, Piccolo, Gohan and Dende use the Namekian Dragonballs to wish Krillin, Chaozu, Tien, and Yamcha back to life. They try to do the same to Goku, but they find out that he isn't dead (can't kill off the main character), and Vegeta leaves Earth to train in outer space and to find Goku. Unlike the past 28 volumes, this one winds up with a comforting sense of closure.

3-0 out of 5 stars Get the DVD. 'Nuff said.
This is the final installment of the (incredibly drawn-out) Freeza saga...finally, Planet Namek has exploded, and Son Goku is nowhere to be found. Everyone assumes that he's dead, but in the next episode (where everyone killed during the previous arc, as well as in the battle with Nappa and Vegeta, comes back to life), it's revealed that he can't be brought back because...he's not quite dead! (How's that for a Monty Python cliffhanger!) Turns out Goku's escaped the planet, but isn't quite ready to come home yet. And so, the Earth returns to an uneasy peace, while the Namekians find a new home, and the other leads wonder when they'll see their friend again.

Overall, the dub for these episodes isn't that great...the music isn't nearly as good as the original, and many of the lines are changed. Most importantly, they glossed over the fact that Kuririn's *remains* had to be brought back to Earth for him to be revived there, making it seems as though only his "spirit" needed to be there (remember that the "Other World" encompasses the dead of all worlds, not just Earth). Porunga also reconstructed his body for free.

Luckily...all of this is rectified in the DVD version, which has the original Japanese episodes intact. So, if you can, get that instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars The final chapter of the Frieza Saga, a great DVD
This DVD is truly remarkable as it puts an end to the amazing Frieza Saga. The first episode shows the final destruction (well, at least until Trunks and stuff, but we'll leave it as that) of Frieza and includes many flash backs of the previous DVD's. The scene where Frieza get's destroyed is pure gold. (I love the manga dialoge. "You must die by my hands. I will kill you!" followed by Goku going, "You fool!" It's done almost perfectly in the Anime, but some of the dialoge is changed. It's still really great to watch.) The second episode shows Goku trying to get out alive and includes a little filler dual between Gohan and Vegeta.

The last episode surprises everyone (well, sort of, I mean the episode title does sort of give it away) and has everyone from Namek return. The conclusion is one that is truly amazing. I do, however, have a few complaints near the end. Why did Funimation put an episode preview to the Garlic Jr. Saga? It's something completey seperate and ussually at the end of a big saga, they just sort of end it. It's still good, I just found that weird. The DVD itself is good quality and has both the Japaneese Subbed version and the English Dubbed version. It has no bonus material, but that is to be expected. The DVD is deffinetaly worth a buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Goku surviving!!!
These are the best damn episodes I've ever seen in my life. When Frieza is sliced in half by his own disks ..., Goku, the kind-hearted super saiyan, offered some of his energy so that Frieza can survive in space. But he attacked Goku from behind with a blast and Goku had enough and ended the terror right there. But it was not over. Goku still has to manage to get off Namek before it explodes. But it was too late. The planet Namek no longer exists. Did Goku escape or has his life ended along with the planet? It turns out that he did survive, but why hasn't he returned home yet? Find out later on in the series!

4-0 out of 5 stars The dvd with a lot of flashbacks
This is the last DVD from the Frieza saga. Frieza is defeated by super saiyan Goku. The saiyan warrior gives Frieza a little energy to escape the exploding planet Namek. Frieza sees flashbacks from the fight and can`t believe his defeat. In a last attempt to defeat Goku he fires an energy blast towards him. The blast backfires!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars You must not miss out on this
Iria Zeiram...I first heard of it when I was watching Grappler Baki and I saw a little preview for it during the Manga Video promotional music video. It just looked mediocre. I didnt care, it didnt really catch my attention that much. Then I saw it was on the lineup for an upcomming Sci Fi Saturday Anime (god I miss those...) and being as supportive as I am to anime on TV, I watched it and I was hooked. I had to see it all. I couldn't wait until next week when they aired part two. My friend later on picked up all three VHS volumes and lent them to me. I finally saw them all unedited together and I must say, it's really impressive. Besides the gratuitous action and the sexy female main character, Iria Zeiram takes a simplistic plot and milks it for everything it is worth and then some. The characters are all well developed, the story continuity has good flow, the mechanical concepts are just plain wicked, the soundtrack is out of this world and the animation quality is top notch. It's the definition of a perfect anime. A few weeks later I purchased the DVD and I was ecstatic. One of my single most favorite anime series all on one DVD for the price of a single VHS volume. I have to tell you, it was one really awesome deal and you shouldnt miss out on it. Fans of Final Fantasy will especially like it because of it's setting and it's blend of technology and a fantasy world. If you havent seen Iria and can afford this DVD, dont think twice about purchasing it because it's truely worth it, especially since this DVD is such a great deal and the picture and sound quality are excellent.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Defining Anime - Art & Entertainment
At some time in the future a young woman named Iria and her brother Glen, both bounty hunters, join in an contract to rescue the passengers from the crash of a space transport. This mission takes a turn for the worse when the rescue team find themselves face to face with an indestructible killer - Zeiram. The result is disastrous; one team member killed, and Iria is forced to leave her brother behind to fight the monster. For the rest of the episodes Iria dedicates herself to solving the mystery of the Zeiram and saving her brother.

Several things set this 1995 OVA series apart from female (or male, for that matter) heroic anime. While the primary plot isn't entirely original the characters are notable and are allowed to develop well-crafted personalities. Iria is young, intelligent, and fiercely capable - a completely independent woman. Fujikuro is more than a little crooked, but, despite his antics, loyal to Iria. Bob - a bounty hunter turned into a computer ghost. And Kei, who is a younger reflection of Iria. All of these characters and others leave lasting impressions as the result of the find scripting and conceptual work of Keita Amemiya.

The artwork remains outstanding even by today's standards. The series is based on an original live action film, but animation can go where file can only follow at great cost. Character design (Masakazu Katsura) and set design (Amemiya, et. al.) combine to provide a fresh looking universe that combines traditional Japanese and Chinese elements with fantasy visions that rival Yoshitaka Amano, peopled with contraptions that Da Vinci would have envied.

The set includes an additional DVD with graphics and interviews with Amemiya, Katsura and several of the voice actors. If you are lucky enough to find the limited edition you will also get a metal container for the set. This is another of those 'must see' that both stretch the boundaries of anime and provide great entertainment as well.

perfect 10.

aliens, monsters, weapons, a young bounty hunter girl, and the song is cool.

4-0 out of 5 stars The one that started it all...
To tell you the truth, this was not only the very first anime I owned, it was also the first one I saw. The story, the action, the characters and designs, all gloriously original. Anime about bounty hunters are nothing new, but Iria : The Zeiram Animation brought its own original twist to the sub genre. It is somewhat disappointing to only have six episodes, but once you own a few OVA's, it's more than enough. I bought the VHS back before DVD's were even around. The only reason that I hesitate to give it five stars is the English language track. It is littered with odd sounding phrases and seems to be poorly translated altogether. The voice acting is excellent, but marred by the odd translation. All in all, I highly suggest purchasing it. It is great for anyone starting a collection or just building upon their existing one.

4-0 out of 5 stars It IS good.
The only problem with Iria is that I want another one. It's quite good, and I have to mention that it's a good title for women who like anime but who get weary of the 3-4 female archetypes so common in anime.

Here at last we have a strong female lead who has depth of character! More than almost any other female protagonist you're going to ever come across in anime... Add in good art, a solid story, great action and you're in good shape!

So where are the sequels! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The little-known 1989 remake of the classic TV show.
This is an official release of two episodes from the -second- time Kimba was brought to the TV screen. Some say this is the last project that Kimba's creator, Osamu Tezuka, worked on. It is different, a re-working of the old story, and takes some getting used to for us old fans. In some ways the presentation is disappointing; it feels like the series was altered for a modern Saturday Morning TV audience. The new story arc is interesting, tho, and I consider the series very much worth seeing. I'll be buying every tape they release.

The first tape in this series ("Successor of Legend") is a must, since it sets up the story line. This episodes on this tape are very interesting and show the little white lion at near his best.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not too bad
Tezuka osamu originally came with this series in the 60's and Pioneer animation came up with a modern version of it. Kimba looks more like the symphonic poem in feel. Kimba pledges to save all of the forest from fighting and things llke that. The couple of villans who get in kimba's way are shaka the panther and Jamar the lion. In this video kimba saves the animals in the forest from a drought and From a angry farmer with a cow. CHECK IT OUT ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dragonball Z but with Gore and Ultraviolence.
In the near future, The Earth is a nuked world with only some Water and a few plants remain, the only thing that rules the planet is the Violence. A formly dead Warrior named " Ken"
has came back from the dead to get his girlfriend back and he has
incredible powers that let him punch through people and make them exploding. A ultra-Violent anime movie full of Gore and
Humor to not disappoint you, if you are Squeamish or have a weak heart then don't see this.

Other similar movies i would recommend: The Toxic Avenger, The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Day of the Dead, Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Princess
Mononoke, The Professional: Golgo 13, Rats, Scanners, Suspiria,
and The Crow.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best in violent Anime.
Forget about Ninja Scroll and Guy. If you want realistic anime violence and a hell of a story to boot then Fist of the North Star is for you. I've seen this film three times and every time I see it I think to myself a. What a killer story b. What carnage and gore. Take the body counts from ten Friday the 13ths and you'll have a third of the deaths in this movie. Like I said it also has a hell of a story. A Man named Ken (Kenshiro in Japan) is killed or so it seems. He comes back and must search for his lost love Julia, threw a world torn apart by nuclear war. During this time he must prove he is the fist of the north star by defeating his two brothers Jagi the Pretender and Rauol the Conquerer and his rival Shin. If you are a mature anime viewer then I recommend you buy or at least rent Fist of the North Star. It is too bad that we will never get to see the sequel to Fist of the North Star in the USA. A sequel cartoon series was made in Japan in 1988. So far no Anime company has even tried to bring it to America. I doubt we'll ever see it, but we can always hope.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it or Hate it....
Whichever side you're on, you can't deny that Fist of The North Star is satisfying to watch. Fact is, the world would be a much better place if martial artists like Kenshiro actually existed. Kenshiro represents something truly fictional; kindness towards good but weak people, and extreme cruelty towards strong and bad people. In the world we live in, particularly in the typical american high school, its the other way around. Sad thing is, if a martial artist like Kenshiro actually existed and executed his brand of justice on evil people, he would be demonized by the media because the more powerful, fortunate and cruel among us would be threatened by him. I guess that, despite the fact that the voice acting is terrible, the animation horrible, and the effects downright cheezy, people love this move because Kenshiro represents an impossible ideal.

3-0 out of 5 stars So bad...its good!
It won't be double billed with "Wings of Honneamise" or "Metropolis"...but it'll definately be put in my video collection as one of the most craptacular movies ever made...right under the animated "Lord of the Rings."

So why? Well its got good action...and not much else. Every scene consists of such dialogue:

Guy #1: "Hey, you!"
Guy #2: *punch*
Guy #1: "Owe, man, that hurt!"
Guy #2: "You are dead."
Guy #1: "Am not!" *head explodes*

Just replace head with arm, leg, stomach, back, ear, eyeball...

So I shouldn't say too much because then I'd be talking a lot about nothing. Lemme put it this way: if you like crazy violence and campy storylines and dialogue, this will fit you nice and well. MSTie it if you want, I dare you...I managed too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Blood splattering, eye popping (literally) chaos!
This is one of my favorite anime of all time. It is simply an over-the-top gorefest. I love the fact that it pulls no punch and simply gets the plot out of the way in the first few minutes..

I can sum this movie up as:

Good Guys: "Man builds really big bombs and is stupid and annihilates the whole planet. This was a bad thing, let's not do this in real life. Oh look, a flower survived. Now we have hope."

Bad Guys: "Hope?! We can't have hope! We love slaughtering everything in sight for no apparent reason. Die flower die!"

Good Guys: "That's it! You die now!"

(Insert 70 minutes of insane fighting).

As silly as that sounds, this movie is GREAT. Turn off your brain and enjoy it.. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Anime thong song video
Fencer of Minerva: The Tempest is a very disappointing anime. The female characters are slaves or eventually become slaves. They have shackles around their necks and a flimsy top and a g-string to "cover" their bottoms. The plot drags and the action is basically missionary. The clothes keep falling of the slaves at the sight of another male, or female in some instances. The characters are not developed or likable. Diana, who is a princess; was strong willed, and a great swordsman. She also had to put on her thong for Master Sho, and become his personal slave (oh joy). (sniff, sniff) I own Vol 1 and 2 of this series. You have been warned.

3-0 out of 5 stars A bit of a disapointment
Well...at first i noticed that most of the female characters in this anime..are barely dressed while the men are decently covered..why is that?..second of all Diana realy got me hooked at first but then she yeilded in being a slave..To Sho? coz he's her childhood sweet heart? ...if he really loved her he wouldn't let her go on disgracing herself..he should have married her..thats another thing...and i think the story would have been ten times more exciting if Diana put up a struggle ..like the one she had at the first episode..i think if she had,...Sho would have been more and more into her...
And the sex..God the sex!...Its in every scene.!
Note the Diana lets Sho take other woman!!...Iw anted to kill her!!
I swear...
but i liked the characters...
If your bored and need something to watch..take this

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the best mature anime, i have ever seen!!!
this is one dvd or vhs you must have.. im not about to give it all away here but i will give you the basic's... it is a bout a prince of a forgotten and evil (to some people) kingdom, and a princess of the reformed evil kingdom these two meet and have many adventures in the two movies but the catch is it is a adult like novel in a movie format great story line no to much xxx rated sex but for you who like that kind of thing it has enough nough said it is a great video i have seen it many times and have yet the money to buy it it is realy great.
characters:(main),sho
"d" (diannna)

through the movie the princess is taken from her land and ends up in a rape and thiefish gang where in this time and setting it is not rape people are allowed to have love slaves and are suposed to be treated by them acordingly. find out more about this movie by seeing it

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst film I have ever seen
The entire film plays like an adolescent boy's wet dream.

A spirited princess escaped a forced marriage only to be captured by slave traders and given as a sexual slave to her childhood friend. Because she loves him she is happy to be his slave and renounces her identity so that she will not have to fight against him.

That's it for the plot. The first thing I should say is this is truly bad anime. The animation is nothing special, there's virtually no characterization or conflict and the dubbed dialogue is atrocious. Most of the film is given over to two things: reinforcing to the viewer that Sho and Diana were childhood friends and gratuitous shots of Diana's nude body and the experience of her sexual awakening.

This film is hideous in its depiction of women. If there was a decent plot with any actual depth there might be something to recommend it, but there isn't. If you want to watch anime sex, go get one of the Countdown movies or Rei Rei, at least they don't pretend to have a plot. If you want actual depth to your plot and a medieval (or quasi-medieval) setting, get Heroic Legend of Arislan, which is wonderful.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Recomended for Children
This aname is not recomended for children. The quality of the animation is first rate from the beginning to the end. The story line from beginning to end also involves adult situations as to bondage, submission, explicit sex (not hardcore), and for the adult viewer I would recommend that they consider this movie. If you are looking for lots of sword play look elsewhere, the story line has a different intrigue. I was pleased with the movie and am going to be purchashing the Tempist. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rini's risky friendship
In this video, Rini finds out a little bit more about Hotaru's past. She also finds out that Amara really doesn't like her. How can Rini keep up a friendship if people tell her not to? As always she and Serena can't help staying out of trouble. Of course why is staying out of trouble a problem when you can get rid of it? Oh well. I guess those two will never truly get along with each other.

Hotaru has powers she doesn't know about. She hurts people without meaning to. Hotaru has flashbacks about finding she has hurt her goldfish and later, a boy at school without even remembering it. Hotaru's power is displayed when she seriously injures the daimons. The Outer Senshi want Chibi Usa to stay away from Hotaru...but Chibi Usa doesn't want to stay away from her friend! 5-0 out of 5 stars X-Treme Old School High School!
Look on just about any anime fan's list of must-own classics, and this one'll show up on almost every one of them. "Project A-ko" is one of the most well-done anime feature films of all time. While the story is about two high-school girls who end up fighting over the "affections" of another young girl (you think that's weird, wait'll you see the rest of this movie) while their city is in the midst of an alien invasion, this film was made mostly as a spoof of just about every other anime of its time in Japan. Parodies of and references to characters from everything from Captain Harlock to Macross to Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers) to Fist of the North Star show up in nearly every single scene, and it not only makes for wide grins and pointing fingers from otaku everywhere, but it also fits into this crazy flick like a glove. Some of the rip-offs are pretty blatant (like the alien mothership; when you see it I'll give you three guesses to what it looks like), but hey, that's the point! Aside from all that, this is one of those anime that simply has it all; cute girls in sailor suits, giant robots, aliens, almost-nonstop smash-mouth fighting action, and laughs aplenty. The animation for its time is unparalleled; silky-smooth with theater-quality fluidity. The soundtrack, a rocking set of themes that keeps right up with the action, was put together entirely by Americans (the first of its kind!) and produced by the legendary Ritchie Zito (producer for Cheap Trick). The dubbing's even great, even if it deviates from the original dialogue a bit. Folks, if you haven't seen this film yet for some reason, you don't know what you're missing. It's a wonderful ride.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great movie with good satirical qualities
This anime is very comedic and is often viewed as a satire of all anime up to that time. However, it does have a plot of its own.

The main setting is an all-girls school where the heroine, A-ko, and her best friend, C-ko, is confronted by B-ko who wishes to break up their friendship and take C-ko for herself. Each main character has her own unique qualities, A-ko is super strong, B-ko is rich and a brilliant engineer, and C-ko is extremely cute (through the eyes of the characters). B-ko uses all her resources and goes to extreme measures to try and achieve her goal. This provides for some great action and comedic scenes. Meanwhile, there's another unknown menace that threatens them all.... Definitely, a great movie to watch.

This is the first movie in the series of six Project A-ko movies. I am glad to have it on DVD because it is bilingual, and it is like owning both VHS copies (subtitled and dubbed) in one package.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun anime movie!
A 16 year old redhead babe named " A-Ko" has superhuman powers and has many adventures in the big city including challenging her rival "B-ko" to have "C-Ko" for best friend, battle tough gals and male-like female aliens from space.
A very good, hilarious, action packed and wacky anime spoof with good laughs, neat ideas and parodies of anime such as " Fist of the North Star", it's a leave your brain at the door anime with fine artwork and hot toon chicks.
Also recommended: Fist of the North Star, Dragonball Z Movie Trilogy, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend, The Professional: Golgo 13, Perfect Blue, Ninja Scroll, Millienium Actress, Bio-Hunter, Wicked City, Demon City Shinjuku, Sailor Moon Movie Trilogy, Ranma 1/2, Kill Bill.

3-0 out of 5 stars Didn't feel like A-KO
All things considered this one is probably better than the first one. I just had one problem, different voices. Most of the voices on this one are probably best known for their roles in Ranma 1/2. Venus Terzo (girl-type Ranma) really didn't make a good B-KO I thought. C-KO, who's always been a bit annoying, is played by the actor who plays Shampoo on Ranma, which her high pitch voice adds to the annoyment. But worst yet, the captain from the first A-KO, who I thought was a man, is really a woman.
Scott Mcneil did a good job playing him/her, except when he sings. If you watch the Japanese version then everything's the same. I would recommend checking it out if you're a big A-KO fan.

2-0 out of 5 stars NOOOOOOOO
WHAT DID THEY DO TO THIS POOR MOVIE?! Is it just me or did the, uh, "remastering" process turn this great film into a nearly unwatchable mess? All the colors in this film are very "washed out" almost "bleached" so that all colors tend towards a white "glare" look. All in all, a pathetic job in touching up one of the better anime satire movies around. This movie shouldn't have been given to some lackluster video company who was obviously indifferent as to the results of their process (just watch the "remastering" part of the DVD - the man seems to take no interest in the film he was paid to touch up). This is one of those few anime classics that deserve a full treatment - ideally, not only a modern video filter but also a conversion to digital that would allow modern animators to touch up the animation directly frame by frame- thus making colors vibrant, smooth, beautiful and characters sharp and distinct. The only reason to buy this is for the free soundtrack that is included. Other than that, expect a seriously marred and flawed version of an anime classic. Ouch. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Hmmmm.
Well I have been a fan of this series for many years and have watched each episode over and over again.....except this one. After watching this episode for the first time I felt like the producers of the show were busy watching "Shaft" or something in that genre to come up with the downhill skiing scene, not to mention the horrible 70's film overtones throughout the episode already. C'mon, any fan of LW&C would feel sick to their stomache when viewing this episode knowing it was the last. But on a good note, buy it to complete your series hehe, it will look good on your shelf.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Think This Film Is Great Despite The Criticisms.
This installment of the Lone Wolf and Cub series isn't as deeply moving and thought provoking as the previous films. But it does feature some of the best swordplay in the series. I actually like this one more than 'Baby Cart In The Land of Demons', which I've found over-rated (at least by Ric Meyers). Maybe the sword wielding undead is too much; or the ski/swordplay finale is too over the top and corny - but hey, this is the Lone Wolf And Cub! The ending is somewhat touching, even though little Daigoro falls on his face trying to walk in the snow.

Overall, a satisfying conclusion to the film series.

2-0 out of 5 stars Worst in the Series
If you loved the first five movies of this series, you'll be disappointed with this one. It is awful. The action sequences are nothing like, or comparable with those in the other movies. If Itto Ogami used his sword a bit more rather than the guns in the baby cart, with unlimited ammunition no less, this would be a better film. Also, the story is very disjointed and extremely hard to follow, unlike the previous Lone Wolf and Cub movies. Very disappointed with this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wind it Up with a Bang!
This is the 6th and last entry in the series Lone Wolf & Cub. This one not only has a different director than Kenji, who directed 4 of the others, this is the entry most like a comic-book (the series is based on a famous comic book series).
Not that that is bad.

The whole series fluctuated between great period detail, serious themes, and not taking itself too seriously. It was at once graphic and fantastic, realistic and wildly improbable, factual and imaginary. serious & silly. That's what made it so damn interesting.

Throughout the series the action has taken place in different locales and landscapes of Japan. Tracing actual historical roads and cities. Now we end the series in the mountains and the snow, the White Heaven in Hell of the title.

This entry has a lot of stuff going on: Lord Retsudo of the hated Yagyu Clan, Ogami's arch enemy, sends his last child, a daughter to do in Ogami with her "Falling Dagger" technique. When, predictably, she fails, he goes to an illegitimate son that was abandoned and raised by a mountain tribe. ...

The downhill ski battle may not be... intense and exciting but ...it ain't bad. That Ogami's Baby Cart guns never seem to need reloading etc. are minor quibbles. If Ogami doesn't shoot em he always seems able to bifurcate them, behead them, or run em through. Red sprays all over the white snow.

Anyway, they wind the series up with a bang. One of the strangest, most unique, and unusual series ever produced anywhere. Worth it if you don't mind the violence.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the others
This is a great series but this one is my least favorite of them all. Its not that bad but it doesn't stand up to the first 2 in the series or the others. But hey this is Itto Ogami and even on a bad day he's good. ... Read more
