5-0 out of 5 stars The Majic School Bus makes a Rainbow
My Granddaughter who is four has been watching the school bus since the age of two she has her favorites and this is one of them. At four she knows about how colors are formed and how a rainbow is made. If you are going to use an electronic babysitter
use something where they can also learn and the bus fills that perfect

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Science-Bad Babysitting
My three children love the Magic School Bus Videos and have advanced their science knowledge beyond their ages by watch quality childrens programming like the Magic School Bus series. This video continues the adventure by taking Ms. Frizzles class out of the classroom (no surprise there) and into Wanda's house where they are charged with watching Wanda's diaper clad brother William, while her Mom finishes up a business teleconference. The adventure begins with William accidently shrinking the class with the shrinkascope! Tape gets high marks for contruction elements (contructing a bridge out of gum drops and hair pins but extremely low marks for child care. (William is left alone with Liz during most of the film.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Big Sister Dora DVD Arrived Just In Time
My two year old grand-daughter knew she was going to become a "Big Sister" but this Dora DVD really helped her better understand what the news really meant.Per usual, the story was great, good pace, excellent graphics and easy to understand. After watching the video, Emma eagerly anticipated the arrival of little sister Erin even more.We now watch the video at every visit to Grandma's house even though Erin is now 5 months old.We can't wait for a DVD to come out about Dora's new dog!!Hurry up!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sofia loves it!
My daughter can not get enough Dora. Now she goes into her "Super Baby" stance at the mention of Doras "baby" relatives. I will not give away anything else about the story line.

All I can add, is that if your child loves Dora, buy this DVD!! We all have grown fond of Boots, and even Swiper the fox around our house!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the big sister!
We bought this for our three year old right before we had our second baby. She is a HUGE Dora fan anyway, so this was obviously a hit in our house. It is a fun episode! My only complaint is that one of the bonus episodes on this DVD is "A Letter for Swiper" which is also a bonus episode on the Cowgirl Dora DVD, the only other one we own!

4-0 out of 5 stars Dora is a big sister!
Nick Jr. recently showed the "Dora the Explorer: Big Sister Dora" episode on tv. My daughters (ages 11mo. and 23mo.) LOVED it! My oldest especially enjoyed it because she is a huge Dora fan and I think she liked that they were both big sisters. It was a cute video and sure to be a hit with any Dora fan. ... Read more

Crawling with imaginative characters, hilarious laughs, and colorful animation, Disney and Pixar's A BUG'S LIFE will "delight everyone -- young, old, or six-legged" ("People" magazine). But when Flik's cavalry turns out to be a ragtag group of flea circus performers, the stage is set for comic confusion ... as well as unlikely heroes! 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Movie
An instant classic. The characters are strongly developed, every frame is a breathtaking masterpiece of art, and (thank goodness) NO SILLY SONGS. This movie will stand up to the test of time and across international borders because its themes are universally familiar to all people of all cultures. I have seen it three times in the movie theaters and look forward to seeing it again and again.

For those of you who like ANTZ, consider this: Pixar was already roughly two years into development on "Bug's Life" when Jeffrey Katzenberg left Disney for Dreamworks. Obviously he took many of the ideas with him to create ANTZ (wonder why Disney's "Armageddon" is similar to Dreamwork's "Deep Impact" -- and why both were released around the same time? Same reason.) So PIXAR gets an extra PLUS for originality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining for kids and adults!
A Bug's Life is entertaining for kids and adults alike. This movie is a non-stop action fest that has been masterfully captured on DVD.

The picture quality if superb, if not the best I've seen, for an animated DVD due to the direct digital to DVD transfer. In full screen mode, you will be amazed how clean and delineated the picture is; the detail is incredible!

My big surprise was how amazing the sound is on this disc. You can use this to show off your Dolby Digital sound system to friends just as well as any action film. The surround effects are crisp and the bass is well defined.

My only complaint would probably be that the action and sound is so non-stop, that it can tire out adults, albeit mesmerizing children the whole time.

The extras are plenitiful and well done. The inclusion of the end-title outtakes is the highlight of a wonderful special edition disc you're sure to enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gotta love them bugs
Those Pixar folk are amazing. Not only do they make an excellent movie, but they complement it with a first rate package of extras, especially the outtakes and the movie short "Geri's Game". The two-disc Collector's Editions are worth waiting for, and you will find yourself playing the second disc as often as the first.

This innovative take on the old fable "The Ant and the Grasshopper" teaches us a few important lessons:

1. There's a clumsy nerd who wants to be a hero in every colony
2. Phyllis Diller is an old queen
3. David Hyde Pierce is stiff
4. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is neurotic and can't dance
5. Grasshoppers live it up in Mexican joints during the Summer
6. German caterpillars are funny, and so are pill-bugs.
7. Ladybirds may not be ladies
8. Birds can be flammable
9. An ant may look at a queen
10. Don't stir up an ants nest

To maintain good family relations, you should allow your kids to watch this movie too.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun New Classic From Disney
As always, Pixar delivered a breath taking experience when they brought us A Bug's Life. While not overly realistic, the animation is bright and rich and incredibly detailed. The colours and textures suck you into their world.
The movie features a nice mix of humor and excitement. Some moments are full of suspense and tension.
The voice actors do a great job, particularly Kevin Spacey as the villain Hopper. He's truly menacing! When the voice talents are combined with Pixar's fabulous job of giving natural movements and mannerisms to each different species of insect the mix creates very believable characters.
As per usual Disney style there is a great moral to be learned through the story, about the importance of standing up for yourself, and how one small person truly can change the world.
The only drawback of the movie is that the characters are relatively shallow and underdeveloped when compared to Disney's usual level of complexity. However, when you consider that this film is based off of the fable "The Ant and the Grasshopper" it puts things into perspective and you appreciate how much imagination and creativity actually went into this project. The end result is highly entertaining and sure to be a classic in generations to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just a Few Notches Below Finding Nemo
This film was originally released in 1998, but I didn't actually see it until a few months ago. Simply put, it's Pixar doing what they do best. A widely caried and excellent cast of characters, a simple but elaborately executed plot, and of course, the rendition of a half a dozen themes that run universal throughout our lives.

Essentially, a mild and nerdy ant known as Flic accidentally destroys the entire food supply of his ant colony. Of course, the food was not for them; it was their yearly offering to the grasshoppers. As a result, the grasshoppers decree that the ants can spend the remainder of summer gathering it all again. Hopper, the ingenius and menacing leader, notes that Flic stands up to him for one brief moment, and this becomes pivotal later. I won't say any more past there, only that there are plenty of intriguing twists to keep things interesting.

Overall, this movie bears an obvious resemblance to Finding Nemo. First of all, both movies involve the creation and manipulation of a natural environment and its inhabitants. Second, they both involve unlikely heroes (A bumbling ant and a fearful clownfish). Third, both are at a standard of quality that the animation world has never before seen.

Honestly, Kevin Spacey's portrayal of Hopper is reason enough to see A Bug's Life. (I could say the same thing about Albert Brooks' portrayal of Marlin in Finding Nemo.) However, the movie offers much more in the long run, and the special features are deep and surprisingly un-boring. The director's commentary of this movie and other Pixar films is much, much more entertaining than most movies. I credit a lot of that to Andrew Stanton, but the guys just have a creative knack to them that makes their ideas and comments brilliant.

Recommended to all fans of animation, all lovers of Pixar, and all those with good taste. ... Read more

Chuck Jones directed some of the funniest shorts in the history offilmmaking, and this 1979 feature-length compilation includes several of hisbest cartoons. Among the 11 shorts shown in their entirety are the classicsRobin Hood Daffy, What's Opera, Doc?, Bully for Bugs, andDuck Amuck, which remain as hilarious as they were when first releasedalmost 50 years ago. As with any collection, the viewer wonders why some filmswere included and others omitted: Why Hare-way to the Stars andOperation: Rabbit, but not Rabbit of Seville or A Bear forPunishment? Nor is the material always shown to its best advantage: LongHaired Hare has, unfortunately, been cut, and combining footage from severalRoad Runner shorts into a 20-minute montage weakens the pacing Jonesbuilt into the individual films. These caveats aside, The Bugs Bunny RoadRunner Movie provides a showcase not only for Jones's razor-sharp timing, but for the work of his exceptional crew, which included designer Maurice Noble, writer Mike Maltese, composers Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn, and voice actorMel Blanc. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the five fully animated Looney Tunes movies
Chuck Jones' The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie came out in September of 1979. Chuck Jones directed some of the funniest shorts in the history of filmmaking, and this 1979 feature-length compilation includes many of his best cartoons. Among the 11 shorts shown in their entirety are the classics Hare Way to the Stars, Robin Hood Daffy, Duck Amuck(quite possibly the greatest cartoon ever made), Ali Baba Bunny, Bully for Bugs and What's Opera Doc? which are still hilarious as they were when first released well over 50 years ago. However, some viewers questioned why other greats like Rabbit of Seville were deleted. Amongst the classic cartoons is some new animation of Bugs from Chuck Jones recalling his exploits with Daffy, Marvin Martian, Elmer Fudd and Wile E. Coyote whom also has a confrontation with The Road Runner in a 20 minute montage which was also great as well. Also, the wascally wabbit's explanations of chases was hysterical. Also, the beginning credits and ending credits were funny with the That's All Folks trying to curtail the movie at start and near the end and Bugs getting irked and puts a NOT or a NOT QUITE between That's All. At the end, Bugs sits on the WB logo smiling saying "Eat Your Heart Out Boit Reynolds" and That's Really All Folks!. This movie is highly recommended!

You wanna see a good movie, then go buy or rent Gigli. Totally brilliant!!!!

Pogo has spoken!

5-0 out of 5 stars Top-notch, it should only be released on DVD
Shortly after this came out, the media was swamped with well-meaning attacks on the violence in children's programming, much of which was directed at such classic cartoons as featured here - clearly a wrong-headed knee-jerk reaction gone too far. Perhaps that is why WB never re-released it on DVD. As it is, it is a prized member of my VHS collection, but I'd really like a newer one.

On the other hand, what I wouldn't like is the politically correct editing that started appearing in WB cartoon anthologies released after this one. For that alone, I despair of ever seeing this released in its original form again. In a post-Columbine world, I suppose such temerity is to be expected, but it's simply wrong to butcher such masterpieces of the animators' art.

But enough about that...

This is, to me the definitive WB cartoons. The only thing that could have improved it was more of the same, plus some other often overlooked characters such as the 3 bears. I've always been a huge fan of the late Chuck Jones and his Roadrunner cartoons in particular. This video has (almost?) all of them, grouped to run sequentially. As previously noted, some of the cartoons included here are on other WB collections, where their questionable editing for content is quite evident.

If you're an adult who can realize that when Wile E. Coyote falls 2000 feet, followed by an anvil, what's on display are Chuck Jones' artistry and comic genius rather than anything remotely related to reality, the you're in the target demographic. Let's face it, these cartoons with their somewhat dated references don't belong to the Columbine generation, they belong to us old-timers who grew up with them - and we deserve to be able to see them.

And that, succinctly, is what this is - the best of the best, without a post-modern social conscience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anyone who gives this 1 star is loonier than the movie!
Chuck Jones is a master and has the funniest cartoons ever created. Bugs Bunny narrates this hilariously looney movie. This tape includes:

DUCK AMUCK-- An absolute classic! One of the best cartoons ever made! And that's HIGH praise!

WHAT'S OPERA DOC?-- Just as good! One of Bugs Bunny's finest performances, not to mention Elmer Fudd's!

DUCK DODGERS IN THE 24TH 1/2 CENTURY-- This is so funny, every second of it has you laughing at something else, if it doesn't than your still laughing at the last gag! Cartoon Network made a TV show about Duck Dodgers and it's really funny but not close to being as funny as this!

HARE-WAY TO THE STARS-- One of Marvin the Martian's funniest performance. It is topped by DUCK DODGERS IN THE 24TH 1/2 CENTURY but Daffy provides most of the laughs in THAT one.

ALI BABA BUNNY-- Every cartoon in this is funny! And this one is no exception. It is FUNNY!!!!!!

ROBIN HOOD DAFFY-- "I'm Robin Hood, and I'm very good at avoiding the sherrif's eye!" Or so Daffy says. But Porky Pig is not convinced that he's who he says he is. This biggest hoot is the gag where Daffy is swinging down to the Sherrif and planning to steal his gold, but he bumps into every tree there. Another one of the best parts is the end.

Not to mention all the Road Runner cartoons in it!
The only complaint I have is where Bugs is naming his "FATHERS" and included are: Tex Avery, Robert Mckimson, Friz Freleng and Chuck Jones. And that's all fine and dandy! But what about Bob Clampett??? He did as much as the others! And Ben Hardaway may not have directed too many cartoons with the hare (two, actually) but he was the original creator of Bugs and so she be included as one of Bugs' fathers.
Buy this! That's all I have left to say! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Veggies Rock again!
I'm 19, and like the person listed before me, I first saw the veggies in my 12-th grade Religion class. But I enjoyed the video and now own the entire series. This was a very good episode of the VT. The first half is a "Dr. Seuss" parody/retelling of the Good Samaritan Parable. It comes off very well with some great songs along the way. The Star-Trek parody, the second half of the video, is also very good and, would you believe it, the first time I heard the "I can be your friend song" I nearly cried, twas so beautiful. Great music. Great fun. Make sure you watch your vegetables!

5-0 out of 5 stars These animators can make gourds dance!
This ranks as one of my favorite "Veggie Tales" videos.

It combines stellar graphics (singing and dancing gourds), excellent Christian messages (Good Samaritan story and acceptance), and good, clean fun that both children and adults will enjoy.

The Story of Flibber-o-loo tells the Good Samaritan story with a twist or two along the way. You'll be singing along..."I'm busy, busy...terribly busy."

However, Star Trek fans will especially enjoy The Gourds Must Be Crazy - an amusing send-up of Star Trek (complete with Scotty as played by a carrot) and a pie shaped starship that strangely resembles the Enterprise.

And of course, each episode contains a "Silly Song with Larry" - a non-sensical part of the show that is so dumb it's funny. Fans of Monty Python will recognize some of the humor.

Learning Bible stories has never been so much fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Sweet Lesson and Hilarious Fun!
The sweet lesson in befriending the new kid is intertwined with hilarious mock Star Trek moments. This video leaves kids and adults laughing and learning a moral as well! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best of the Totally Awesome Veggie Tales Videos!
This was the very first Veggie Tales I ever saw, way back in 1995, and I still think it is one of the best Veggie Tales ever made. Funny stories with moral messages, cool computer animation, silly songs you want to keep singing, and hilarious inside jokes for the older viewers. If you have other Veggie Tales videos but not this one, you have got to get this, it is wonderful! If you haven't yet jumped on the Veggie Tales bandwagon, I suggest you do so, and start with this video. Veggie Tales are videos that people of all ages love, from the little two year olds (A half hour video is perfect for that age) to the grown-ups. I have known a lot of people who have watched Veggie Tales (even non-Christians) and everyone loves them! My husband and I are as excited as our kids when a new Veggie Tales comes out. Try them, I know that you will love them.

The popular Nickelodeon Jr. show for the 2-4 age group does an excellent job of introducing simple vocabulary and numerical concepts in these twoepisodes. In the first, Steve and his dog Blue's house is labeled todiscover what book Blue wants to have read to her. The labels (everythingfrom "refrigerator" to "wall") are treated lightly, Steve mostly askingthe audience to name the first letter of each word. Steve and Blue alsowork on constructing a simple sentence.

In the second episode, Blue wants to buy something. Simple counting gamesand a shopping trip to The Present Store make for a solidexploration of numbers. Addition, subtraction, and even fractions are on themenu. --Doug Thomas ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Blues Clues Fun for @ year olds
Hi, This video is our daughters favorite. This one we have purchased a second copy of. We thought videos could not be worn out, especially after we only bought this copy 9 months earlier. This gets watched by our 2 year twice daily EVERY day. From a parents point of view it's a great learning tool for kids and fun with the "absorbing" quality that gets kids everytime. How sad it is, that we find ourselves sitting down too and watching it almost daily. This edition is the favorite, as we have 2 others. It covers ABC and 123's and although we have read other reviews with parents saying their 3 year old and under not suitable, we must admit that our 2 year old loves it. I guess every child develops differently and each to their own. One thing is for sure ... it's better than Teletubbies and you actually learn something here with Blue, Steve and the gang!

4-0 out of 5 stars My 3 year old loves this video.
My three year old enjoys Blue's Clues.

I particularly find the second segment on this tape the more educational. In the first one, everything in the Blue's Clues environment is labled. However, they mainly do not look at the lable but rather just the first letter of an object. Futher, they get into reading comprehension when most kids are still trying understand what they hear when someone reads a story to them. SO I find the first segment a little bit of a loss educationally.

The second segment, however, deals with numbers and counting. Everything is counted out- number of ice cubes, blue dollars, steps to the door and so on. Great repetition.

I have to admit that Blue's Clues is not my favorite tv show. I find it irritating and do not appreciate the fact that Steve acts so goofy at times. So that may contribute to the lower four rating. However, it's mainly been rated a four due to the first segment being an educational loss in my mind.

I like the fact that it has to sections. This is an easy way to limit the tv/videos that my son watches. I only allow him a limited amount of tv/videos a day and this gives it an easy break point for stopping the video and playing with toys.

Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Blue

These videos are helpful in that they teach thinking skills using fun songs and bright colors. It's no wonder that Blue's Clues is still in production all these years later.

A story line that truly deserves the A-list treatment, The Last Unicorn is memorable for its attempts to stay faithful to its origins, the Peter Beagle novel of the same name. The animation is vintage Rankin/Bass, and that's too bad; but there's an undeniable strength in this tale and telling. A unicorn (Mia Farrow)--she believes herself the last--searches for any others of her kind, while avoiding the malevolent Red Bull, the agent believed to have destroyed the rest of the herd. Along the way, she is mistaken, ignored, attacked, and obsessed about, finally finding help from a magician named Schmendrick (Alan Arkin) and a knight named Prince Lir (Jeff Bridges). A haunting film that pays homage to mythology and the people who love it. --Keith Simanton ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still one of my MOST favorite movies!!!
My mother tells me that when I was little, I used to make her rent this movie every week. I still remember what the old cover looked like. I have to say that I bought a copy a few years ago and I still watch it every once and a while. I know all the songs by heart - I can still repeat my favorite lines - This is an incredible movie for all ages that I think everyone should watch to get a glimpse of that magic of the imagination that we tend to forget exists after we've grown up!

The plot of the movie is based on the book by Peter S. Beagle(read it if you like fantasy!), but I have to say that I like the movie better. Of course, the author did the screenplay, so that might explain why the movie is so good. It's about a unicorn searching the world for others of her immortal kind. On her journey, she meets humans who help her on her path, like Schmendrick(sp?) the bumbling magician who transforms her into a human woman to carry out her quest, Molly Grue the cynical outlaw, and Prince Lir who becomes a hero for her sake. But some of those she meets, like Mommy Fortuna the witch and King Haggard with his castle by the sea, will try to stop her from solving the mystery of her lost people. Will she be able to hold onto herself long enough overcome the ominous Red Bull who drove the other unicorns down all the roads long ago?

Again, I say that this is one of the movies that defined my childhood, one of the things that convinced me I wanted to be a writer and believe in the magic of imagination. This is a great movie for kids, but there's plenty there for an adult to appreciate as well. Buy it and watch it!!! It's worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars An exquisite film... not quite for everyone, I believe
I recall seeing this movie on TV when I was like 8-years-old and its beauty and meaning really affected me. Not again a film has touched me the way this did. I am not giving away what is about, only thoughts and images. The journey of the last unicorn that runs thru the world to find her lost kin and finds love instead... A clumsy but noble magician named Schemndrick... A sad woman who has lost almost everything... A bitter and lonely king searching for hapiness and his adopted son, who will turn to be a hero... A haunting world with wonderful landscapes... An overwhelming score by Jimmy Webb and America... Let's just say that if you like fantasy and still carry with you that good old inner child and also have a taste for melancholy, this film will stay with you. But, if you are into happy endings, better stay away.
Even at that early age I saw this picture, I had a sense of loss and sadness when it ended. I think that actually, it changed me forever. A part of the innocence was gone, in a good way. It deals with deep and mature matters, kind of heavy and serious for an animated flick, but I think it's good for a child to learn to think and awaken sensibility.
I am not sure to recommend it for little children, 3 to 5... I think it's too much for them. From 7 and on, they can appreciate it more, and better for a 10 year-old. There's some middle cursing also, like "hell" and "damn", so very concerned parents should avoid it until their little ones are a little grown up.
The cast is great. Christopher Lee shines. Mia Farrow, Alan Arkin and Jeff Bridges are also here and deliver powerful performances.
Read the book which this movie was based on, written by Peter S. Beagle -who made the screenplay too, thank God, for it is perfect.
An unforgettable, beautiful, charming, touching, thought-provoking, heart-squeezing movie that you can fall in love with.

1-0 out of 5 stars AVOID
This is a very good film that has yet had a decent video release here in the US. This DVD release is a disaster.

This particular print has several major defects. First this movie suffers more than most when cutting it from widescreen to full screen. But the pan-and-scan job (the technique used to make a widescreen film fit on a regular television) was also totally botched leaving many scenes showing only half a face or character.

There is also many color problems. The print is biased to red. Dark scenes, of which there are many, show a red tint. Related to this is that the greens are subdued. Many objects that should be green show as blue.

The print is also grainy showing more video noise than normal.

The soundtrack is extremely harsh sounding making it dificult to listen to.

I'd recommend you seek out the widescreen version which has none of these problems.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Last Unicorn
I have seen this movie over 100 times and I really believe it is one of the greatest films of our time. I loved it as a kid and I don't know that I fully understood it, because now as an adult I appreciate the heart that goes into this film. It is a beautiful love/life story about being true to who you are. I cry almost every time I watch this, it is definetly worth buying.

4-0 out of 5 stars good movie bad singing
It a good movie, with a good plot. The characters were good and well drawn. the only problem was the singing, now the songs were good. But they got people who thought they could sing who couldn't. But other then that a good buy. ... Read more

Bilingual Dora and her monkey friend Boots have places to go and rescues to make, but they need the help of their young viewers in this delightful Nick Jr. program designed to simulate computer software. Although it can't be truly interactive, of course, toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy the pauses as Dora waits for them to count or speak Spanish before moving on. In "Little Star," the brown-eyed heroine and her primate amigo come upon a weeping fallen star and make the journey to a hilltop, returning it to the heavens. In "Wizzle Wishes," the friends are reading a storybook when one of the characters leaps from the page in pursuit of three wishes. They must catch the runaway wishes in order to get Wizzle home, but first they have to deal with Swiper, the klepto fox who beat them to it. Children learn a simple Spanish word each 23-minute episode (salta and cuidado, respectively) as well as repeatedly hearing the basics (hola, muy bien). As with any computer game, Dora is aided and thwarted by a series of characters children will love to anticipate, including her singing anthropomorphic map, the crusty bridge troll, and the shy, Spanish-speaking squirrel. 5-0 out of 5 stars Dora is wonderful!
In my house, we have gone from Sesame Street to Dora the Explorer. This is the first video that we bought after watching the show and it was a great buy! Two episodes of Dora the Explorer on the tape, which contains fun songs and of course a subtle lesson in Spanish. My daughter loves Dora and this is a plus, as she is learning some Spanish along the way. A great idea for a gift, this video will actually help your child to learn something....not just have them staring blankly at the screen. And in my book, that is always a good thing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Joy's review on Dora
This is a wonderful video for my grandaughter. She likes the interaction this video offers and likes to answer the questions when Dora asks for help. It also offers Spanish words for her to learn. What a great learning tool. The characters are adorable.

5-0 out of 5 stars "I'm the map, I'm the map, I'm the map!"
Yeah, so many hours have been spent watching this one with my niece that I have become a "Doraphile". Engaging dialogue, brilliantly alive colors, and easy-to-learn songs make Dora a perfect "teacher". She and pal Boots play off each other well, and the sinister Swiper the fox is an amusing foil in their adventures.

It's no wonder that Dora is so popular among the preschool set.

In the words of the backpack, "Delicioso!"

I love the grump old trol and get a kick out of him when I see him- my son- who is two will ask to watch this over and over again- I must say it is not annoying and is very educational and enjoyable- I love Dora's use of Spanish and English in the video and I ove her problem solving ablities- it is one I would recommend to anyone-- ps-- my husband also likes to watch it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Charming & Adorable
I received all three Wallace and Gromit videos as a Christmas present a few years ago and I still love them. All of them are truly 5-stars but I feel that The Wrong Trousers is the ABSOLUTE best. The Wrong Trousers is the second episode in the trilogy of Wallace and Gromit films. The story centers around a clever inventor; Wallace and his genius-dog; Gromit. This, the second time around, our dynamic duo are experiencing financial troubles. When Wallace decides to let out a room to a sly penguin the story really gets going and does not wind-down to the very end with the grand finale. The Wrong Trousers is very clever and cute and the animation is simply amazing. This is a very delightful and enjoyable film that is great for the whole family. Kids and parents both will love it! A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave are all highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful!
first saw this on pbs, with a short film about how nick park animated this. fell in love with wallace and gromit, have all of their films. when not fascinated with the animation of the dear little clay characters, you'll be in stitches over the story, which borrows from the crime film genre with a sinister criminal, a harrowing train chase, and the robbery itself. the breakfast sequence could have been done by rube goldberg himself! i never tire of watching this and its companions, a close shave and a grand day out. all are highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cheeky British Humor For Children and Adults!
A delightful duo, Wallace and Grommit deliver plenty of laughs in these wonderful adventures. The producers spared no expense on the charming and detailed sets, and the voice of Peter Sallis (who also did the voice of Rat in the classic claymation series The Wind in the Willows) is perfect for the character of Wallace. A MUST SEE for the whole family. Wry British humor. Fantastic!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just saw it today!!! Really good!
Since today was the last day of school before Winter Break, my science teacher wanted us to watch this movie. I was very amazed by all the effects. I didn't know you could do so much with claymation!!!! I would reccommend this to anybody whos anybody. Unforntually, I have only seen 20 minutes of this. We ran out of time at the end of class. Watch it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Legend to Remember
Mulan is a character unlike any other Disney heroine. She lives for a purpose of bringing herself and her family, honor. She fights, not only the Huns, but also Chinese tradition. All that she does and says is powerful. Other characters present humor and irony, making the film cute and sending a strong inspiration to be yourself and strive for the best. The music, including "Reflection", is well performed and composed (voices of Lea Salonga, Donny Osmond, Ming-Na Wen, Eddie Murphy, etc.). Orchestrations from this movie were nominated for the Oscars. The animation combines typical Disney styles with touches of Chinese art. This is truly a moving story with some breathtaking animation thanks to computer technology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantabulous!!!!!!!!
WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? Sorry but I read some discouraging reviews and I just wanted to ki-... Ok Mulan is a GREAT movie!!! Funny, Cool... All that. I think it was made very well. Now I don't know the original story or whatever but this was great! It could be for girls or boys. It doesn't have all that lovey dovey stuff. If your like... I don't know how old, but this is a very good movie! It's about a girl who was told by the matchmaker that she would never bring her family honor. So she dresses up as a boy to fight in the army in her father's place. Her father uses a cane so he wouldn't do so good in the army. You know fighting... Anyway there's Mushu(Voice of Eddie Murphy), Cri-kee,(her lucky cricket), her horse Kahn, Li Shang(Her captain), the bad guy Shan-Yu and her friends Chien-Po, Ling and this short guy but I forgot his name... Something with a 'Y'... But anyway Disney did good with this. Good for the whole family. You may want to hear stuff people say these days and stuff. Or stuff Eddie Murphy would say normally or whatever but I think you don't need that because It's still a cool show! So go out and BUY IT because it's cool, fun and just FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S(It WAS made in 1998 after all, then was... kind of different from now, right?) :-) >^,,^< (Trust me. All of this is the honest truth!!! I mean why would I lie?) ;-]

5-0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorite Disney's
I love most of the Disney movies whether they are animated or acted. What impressed me most about this movie was not just the animation, voice acting, and music great, but the moral was super. Most good movies have a lesson to be learned. This one was incredibly simple and to the point. Value all people and learn what they have to offer no matter what their sex, believes, et cetera. I highly recommend this movie for the whole family. It is ashame Disney hasn't learned it shouldn't limit the sales of their movies yet. I think they are going to learn the hard way when someone buys them out and stops the stupid moratorium policy. I know if I could buy Disney the first thing I would do is fire the person or persons responsible for the moratorium and second I would immediately make all Disney movies available all the time. If you see negative votes here there is a good possibility they come from scalpers. They want to sell you used Disney movies for three or four times what they are worth. They don't want them to be available all the time. They want them to be unavailable for at least eight years.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lessons for our Children....
I do not believe that I have EVER watched an animated film that taught more of the values that I would want our future generations to learn than MULAN.

The movie opens with Mulan getting ready to go to the "Matchmaker." Although, she is a beautiful girl, she lacks the grace to make a good impression. Devistated, she returns home. Her father tells her that "like the cherry blossoms, her season has not come."

When China is invaded by the Huns, there is one line in the movie that is uttered by the emperor and it is SO profound. The general in charge of the armies confidently announces that his men can handle this invasion. However, the emperor issues a proclamation calling all available men because, "sometimes a single grain of rice may be the deciding balance in tipping the scales." Or - "one man may make a difference between conquest and defeat."

In this case, it turns out to be a woman! I LOVE how Mulan interacts horribly with the men at first and how she is told to leave. Mulan has to prove herself and she doesn't give up.

Even after she is a hero, Mulan is disgraced when it is discovered that she is a woman. She is shunned and yet when she must come to the rescue of China again, her comrades are loyal to her and listen to her ideas.

Throughout the movie there are the different interactions of those who accept women for who they are and those who are stuck within stereotypes.

Mulan is a cute and VERY funny movie with adorable songs. What makes it a GREAT movie however, is the very powerful message that we should judge one another on our merits and character - whether we be men or women.

4-0 out of 5 stars A fun movie, never boring to watch!
I first remember when this movie came out, and I wanted to see it SO bad! I loved it, and would continue to rent it over and over again, until I finally got it as a Christmas present. But, as time went on, you get kinda tired watching it over and over again, as with all movies.
The plot is exciting and adventurous, with a little bit of humor, from, of course, Eddie Murphy, who plays Mushu, her comical 'guardian' dragon. Fa Mulan is a girl trying to at least get a decent match and bring honor to her family, when she hears about the Hun Army's invasion on China, lead by their ruthless leader, Shan Yu. Her father is too weak to fight the whole Mongol army, so she puts matchmaking matters aside, and joins the army, pretending to be a boy. Action-packed and cute, this is a fun movie, and will keep your kids watching in eager anticipation. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Peanuts Movie!!
I am the world's biggest Peanuts fan. I have plans so big I couldn't tell them. This is my favorite Peanuts movie. Charlie Brown tries to become a leader, and the annoying cheaters try to win. They even have a cat, named Brutus! In a few scenes Brutus goes after Woodstock(naturally). Lots of laughs and adventure as they go on a wild ride and into a cabin, and going across the lake. And those girls... They kept doing that crazy voting thing. They even voted on if they should take their raft off the land to continue the race! It's hilarious. Here's some dialogue I've chosen

Lucy: What kind of a place is this to be stuck in? We can't even plug our irons in!

Speaker: Campers will be up at o 500.
Franklin: What's "O 500"? Noon time?

Speaker: Race will start at 1800.
Sally: I wasn't even born in 1800!

Marice(in a sack race): Sir, I don't think I was meant to be a potato.

Snoopy is funny especially on the motorcycle, carrying Charlie Brown and him saying the classic line"Why can't I have a normal dog like everyone else?". Though the girls steal the funny lines. The whole gang takes place here in this likeable Peanuts adventure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Three Cheers for Marcie!
This is one of the best feature-length peanuts video. It has a great story, outside of town, in some camp. The sad part comes when a storm causes trouble in the river and everybody gets separated. Specially Woodstock and Snoopy. Oh, I just love Snoopy's "Hey!". Marcie really steals the show with her "and I know my vote". A must have for Peanuts fans.

Amazon.com essential video

This charming British animated short film (it's just 23 minutes long) is a 1982 production of London's Channel 4, based on the classic children's book by Raymond Briggs and crafted with a colored-pencils-on-paper look, like fluffy, hand-drawn illustrations. Small children should be entranced by the story of a small boy in rural England whose lovingly constructed snowman comes to life and takes him flying over the white-blanketed landscapes, in a beautiful rotoscoped (traced) sequence based on live-action flying footage. Part of the charm of the film is the gentle, everyday quality of its fantasy adventures: the snowman is invited in to try on clothes and play with the Christmas decorations, then plays host to the boy at a party in the woods, at which his snowy relatives do English country dances. This is one of the very few Christmas tapes on the market that really deserves to be a holiday perennial, a gentle fable of friendship and the power of imagination. --David Chute ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A memorable holiday experience...
The little boy in this lovely tale so perfectly represents kids in that great age of wonder and imagination where everything is possible; every dream and every adventure. When I first saw The Snowman (some 18 years ago!), it left me with such a heart warming impression that even to this day every time I watch the film, I become that little girl who was so taken in awe and admiration after the first viewing of the film. This film is a great family movie where both kids and adults will enjoy its beautiful tale, and a holiday must. I especially recommand it to all of us who are still a kid at heart and are eager to recapture a little of bit of that sense of childhood magic and wonder- amid the chaotic world of being a grown up!

5-0 out of 5 stars What you wish all childrens videos were like. . .
Excellent music, glowing illustrations, a story that's sweet but not cloyinginly so--this lovely little movie was a favorite of my children's from toddlerhood on. The story of a small boy showing a snowman around his house is simple enough for a 1-year-old to grasp, especially since it is told without words. But the humor and magic of the film (especially the flight to the North Pole) continue to captivate my 5-year-old. And, the music and artwork is so superior to typical childrens movie fare, you actually don't mind hearing it for the 45th time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great adaptation
THE SNOWMAN (1982) was an incredible christmas movie. But enventhough it had no talking and just music in it,I would give it 5 stars (or more if possible). It was apted from the wordless story THE SNOWMAN (1978) by Raymond Briggs, renewed in 1990 with words. The book was great, too.I have the special 1990 editon of the book.I DON'T have the movie, but I rented it once and saw it in school when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. In this 23 minute cartoon ,James builds a snowman and it comes to life. When it comes to life,James invites the snowman to his house and the snowman gives James a flying trip. The book and the movie are both good for preschoolers. If you like Disney's film FANTASIA(1940)(wich also had no talking and just music),Buy this film.

1-0 out of 5 stars 1 star is the top
This movie was the most boring 23 minutes in my life. The only reason I read it was because I have a school project too do. Theres no talking in the movie which is very boring! If you want to see a good movie you should watch pirates of the caribbean 'the curse of the black peurl'. Thats an interesting movie with lots of action.

5-0 out of 5 stars even old people watch cartoons too : )
The story and superb animation to the Snowman has to be the most enjoyable, shortest(23 minuite) movie i ever seen.
It all started when my grand children came to greet me on christmas day, as i am a very old man i cant do anything besides watching TV. Then we all sat together and flicked threw the channels to see anything interesting to watch on christmas day.
All of a sudden, the snowman came on tele. My grand children sat next to me as i was smoking my pipe and we watching the most amazing and very enjoyable animation ever. After watching it, i orderd 9 dvd versions for my grand children and even one for myself.hehehe

Imaginatively rendered but slightly chilly, this 1951 Disney adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic is also appropriately surreal. Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll's eccentric creations. For a Disney film, however, it seems more the self-satisfied sum of its inventiveness than a truly engaging experience. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best animated movies of all time
The story of the animated film is similar to that of the first book, but contains parts of the second book. Dozy Alice is so silly she follows trouble by chasing a talking rabbit down hs hole. At the bottom, she drinks an unknown substance which helps her get through a talking door into Wonderland. Here she meets the Dodo, TweedleDum and TweedleDee (who tell her the story of the Walrus and the Carpenter), the Talking flowers (watch out for the snobby Iris!), the Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat. She even has un-birthday tea with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. However, Alice gets caught up in a game of croquet with the Queen of Hearts, and later a trial. The whole thing becomes such a nightmare, Alice realises she's had a dream while she dozed off.

Firstly, I don't know why loads of people think this film is cheesy. I know Alice isn't for everyone, but when you look at the other films made based on Children's classics by Disney (eg- Jungle Book, Hunchback of Notre Dame), you'll see it's more faithful than those films to the original. However if you have read the books and haven't seen this film, some characters are missing (eg- Duchess, Mock Turtle, Knave of Hearts, White Knight). This may just think that Disney has ruined this classic forever. They haven't. It's the best adaption I've ever seen.

Although I actually have the PAL version, I suppose the movie is just the same over in North America. The best bits are the Walrus and the Carpenter, the garden of singing flowers and flamingo croquet. And the Mad Tea Party is still the funniest part of a Disney classic. So buy this movie. Wether it's a video tape or DVD.

(I also live near Carroll's birth place!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney's 13th Animated Masterpiece!
Following the success of Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland is snother Disney gem, this colorful, classic animated feature tells the adventures of young Alice in a rather odd way since it doesn't really follow the book by Lewis Carroll, but still, makes a wonderful and entertaining film. Although it was not well-liked when it was first released, it is considered today another one of Disney's greatest masterpieces. The colorful characters will make you laugh from beginning to end. It is hard to say who is the wicked villain in this film, since they all play a role in making Alice's day in wonderland not very pleasent, starting from the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Chessire Cat and the Queen of Hearts, who just wants to see someone's head roll.

This new Masterpiece Edition DVD set brings Alice in Wonderland to a more deserved release than that previous Gold Collection, which brought very little bonus features. The masterpiece edition does bring many more bonuses, and one of my favorites is that "Virtual Wonderland Party", in which children can enjoy a little while in a fantastic tea pary. Really great! This DVD also has the greatest cover art, I love it. 5 stars!

4-0 out of 5 stars Follow the white rabbit Neo - no sorry, I mean Alice
I just spent a couple of hours looking at this wonderful movie and the extra features. The aptly named Masterpiece Edition is worth every penny, and like The Matrix, should be included in any movie collection, whether you have a child to hide behind or not.

Beautifully adapted and animated from Lewis Carroll's highly imaginative, high-trippin' classic, the imagery and illustrated puns amaze and amuse, especially the little things like the rocking-horse fly, the bread-and-butter flies, the vultures, the pencil and hammer birds, the momeraths, and the bird in the tree (Queenie Leonard) yelling "Ser-pennnnnt !"

The animators drew each frame based on the portrayals by the actors voicing the parts, and the stand-outs are Kathryn Beaumont as Alice, Ed Wynn as the Mad Hatter, Verna Felton as the Queen of Hearts, Bill Thompson as the White Rabbit, and the very flexible and versatile J. Pat O'Malley as Tweedle Dum, Tweedle Dee, the Walrus AND the Carpenter, in one of the best scenes in the movie.

With fourteen songs, this is the most musical Disney around, but unfortunately, the songs are not very easy to sing along to, making me sound like William Hung every time I try to impress people with my thorough knowledge of the lyrics.

There are lots of interesting tidbits in the extras, such as the discarded Cheshire Cat song, and the fact that one of the songs was later re-worded for Peter Pan. There are other links between Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan, but you'll have to watch the extras to find out just what, cause I'm not telling.

For those who don't want to watch the previews at the beginning of the DVD, just press "Menu" and get plugged directly into Wonderland.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney-ized
One of my fav children's books gets Disney-ized. I find that this version is simply AMAZING! Yes, there are LOTS of drugged out images (ie..the caterpillar is smoking an opium pipe, she eats mushrooms to get bigger or smaller etc) but its a magical story and its told VERY well by the Disney guys. Not to be missed, grab it before its out of print.

1-0 out of 5 stars It stinks!
This movie is nothing like the original book, skip it and watch the Hallmark version instead. ... Read more

Bored, bored, bored. That's how young Keith feels about being strandedatthe time-worn Mountain View Inn with his parents. Then he meets Ralph, anequally stir-crazy mouse who quickly befriends Keith and begs to rideKeith's toy motorcycle. Soon Ralph masters the tiny two-wheeler and"rrroom-zzzooms" through the hotel hallways, dodging four-leggedpredators, adults, and the occasional vacuum; he even risks his furryskin to help Keith recover from a high fever. Based on Beverly Cleary'sfamous children's novel of the same name, this 42-minutevideo combines live-action talent (including Ray Walston as thewise bellhop) and award-winning stop-motion animation. While the datedlook of the TV movie may not appeal to kids who prefer the heart-pumpingaction of computer-generated favorites such as Small Soldiers, its tameplot and relatively slow pace makeThe Mouse and the Motorcycle a healthy choice for families with 3-to 7-year-olds. Followed by an even popular sequel, Runaway Ralph. --Liane Thomas ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Cute Tale
A cute tale about a young boy staying overnight at a motel with his parents, when he meets a furry little friend who resides inside the wall of his motel room. The boy and mouse help one another out in nice ways, making the stay enjoyable for both boy and mouse. Only the mouse and his family are animated in this film. Very good actors perform in the film, some of which are familar faces. My 8-year-old son enjoyed the movie, but my 10-year-old daughter was somewhat bored. The only qualm I had was I thought the voice of the mouse sounded somewhat overly "cutesy", borderline corny. The boy's voice was more mature than the mouse's. Overall, a nice family show for viewing with younger children.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny!
The Mouse & The Motorcycle is funny, but I did hear of the book, why I wonder if there are mice that can ride motorcycles, since Stuart Little could ride a toy car.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Mouse From a Book now in a TV Movie
Hey kids! This 1986 television special, which was based on a best-selling novel, and also had two following movies: Ralph S. Mouse(1987) and Runaway Ralph(1988), also based on novels, is a great film. The animation is kind of cheap, but it is funny in most of it, and is a great family story. Talk your parents into getting it along with the other 2. You'll luv 'em!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Mouse and the Motorcycle
I like when the mouse goes on the toy ambulance. Also, I like when the mouse rides the motorcycle. That's why I love this movie!

5-0 out of 5 stars Adorable for Young and Old Alike!
First time I saw this film on a local public television station I sat enthralled. What clever and enjoyable entertainment! The little mouse is precious and the adventures he finds his way into and out of will keep both youngsters and "older" kids laughing throughout.

This is a great tape to pop in when the kids are restless and you need to quickly distract them! ... Read more

Littlefoot and the gang meet a shy newcomer, Ali, but the pleasantries stop there. There's a dire environmental theme to this third sequel in the series, in which the world's weather changes beyond the Great Valley, and what had been dry land is now a "land of mists." The shift brings new creatures who push out older inhabitants, and Littlefoot sees these radical changes for himself when he has to venture into the area to find a medicinal flower for his sick grandfather. While the animation is slow and contained the way direct-to-video cartoon releases often are, the story is sound and the now-familiar characters are memorable. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Land Before Time of them all
Journey into the Mists captivated both my children (3 and 5 years old), my wife and me. It is a story of courage, acceptance of others (hence the song "It takes all kinds"), and family ties. This movie is based upon the original Land Before Time video and is yet another sequel in this very popular series.

In this story, Little Foot meets another small long neck named Allie. Allie is afraid of other dinosaurs because she has only been among other long necks. As part of a band of migrating long necks, she and her family come into the Great Valley while fleeing their former home, which has become a misty swamp that they now derisively call "The Land of Mists." After their arrival, Grandpa Longneck faill mysteriously ill and the migratory long necks identify his malady and proscribe a cure - a plant that only grows in the Land of Mists. Little Foot wants to go to find the mysterious plant, and he needs Allie's help. Allie refuses, however, to go unless Little Foot's friends do not come along.

Herein lies the most positive part of this tale - Allie must get over her fear of other dinosaurs if she is to be of help to Little Foot and the others. She has to learn that accept and work with those who are different from herself.

The story resolves, and the children learn valuable lessons. This story also includes a couple of very funny villians who are constantly telling each how worthless they are. These two cracked us up, but their constant bantering and bickering might be a little over the top for very small children. My two laughed and laughed for hours on end. We found that it was important to explain that this behavior is inappropriate and this is why it is funny. This was easily done, since the story shows that these two end up working against each other most of the time and not with each other.

I highly recommend this video. There are some tender moments in this video and some great songs. I would however caution parents with very small children, since there are two villians who are not very nice to anyone. My three and five year old really liked it, but for children younger than that, I would exercise caution.

2-0 out of 5 stars Obnoxious, mean characters ruin this episode
I have really like the first 3 episodes in this series, and my young kids have, too. Our viewing has coincided with an interest in dinosaurs by my 4 year-old son. So, he's learned a lot about dinosaurs from them. And the movies are wholesome and promote friendship and good behavior.

THIS EPISODE WAS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT BECAUSE OF THE MEAN-SPIRITED BANTERING OF THE TWO VILLAINS. The prehistoric crocodile and pterasaur (dinosaur bird) are constantly telling each other how much they "hate" each other. There is a song they sing back and forth about how "I need you like a hold in the head" and that type of thing. And their voices are terribly annoying.

I was immediately uncomfortable, but then I heard my son starting to say this stuff to his sister...

HEY, I KNOW THE KIDS ARE GOING TO PICK UP MEAN LANGUAGE SOMEWHERE, BUT WHY ENCOURAGE IT?

MY ADVICE: LAND BEFORE TIME I-III DO NOT SUFFER FROM THIS LOW LANGUAGE.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite, but good overall...
In this film, Littlefoot's grandpa gets sick with a fever. The only cure is for him to eat a golden nightflower. But there's a problem; it grows in "The Land of Mists", a place off limits to all dinos. Of course, dear old grandpa can't die can he? So Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, and their new friend Ali, set off to find the golden flower. Which they do (while dodging a few obstacles along the way). Nightflower found? Check. Grandpa lives? Check. Overall, it's a cute, fun little movie that the kids will probably enjoy. Ignore those two bad guys though...

2-0 out of 5 stars Journey Through the Mists
My 2 yr old absolutely loves The Land Before Time series but this is one we could have done without. The bad guys are really bad and Ducky's voice is different and more irritating. We usually love Ducky's little voice but not on this one. Normally my son loves the songs and sings along with them but on this one he just fusses for me to skip past the singing.

We had a great time watching this one. My kids are always asking to see it again. I appreciate the positive messages too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney's Sing Along Songs - Beauty and the Beast/Be Our Gues
Enough can not be said about these wonderful videos! Not only do we own EVERY Disney Sing Along cartoon video, we own the Holiday ones and the Character ones as well (Campout etc..). Nothing entertains my 5 yo. and 1 1/2 yo. like these tapes do. The music is good for them, the word recognition is good for them, they are familiar with many characters now (which makes going to the park WAY MORE FUN! - they dont have to have watched every movie to know most characters). Great for little ones with short attention spans since it changes characters with each song and the music keeps them hopping! I feel no guilt at all letting them watch alone while I cook or unload the dishwasher as I gaze over at my two happy, singing, dancing girls! Best baby sitter in the UNIVERSE! I also think it will help them when they are older and start to read - They have been a staple to our VHS collection since my eldest was a toddler! WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beauty and the Beast Sing Along
My daughter is singing along as I write this. She is 20 months and requests this video often.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney! Bring Sing a Long Songs to DVD!!!!!
....and I bet there will be many a parent rushing out to get them. "The Collection of All Time Favorites" (The Early Years, The Modern Classics, The Magic Years) would be an excellent place to start!

Of this particular one, the Huffalumps and Woozles take the show until Ratigan and Bert the Chimney Sweep takes over. All of my cartoon loving kids and family youngsters agree that this is one of the best. And talk about a learning tool? What child wouldn't be influenced by having the words splashed across the screen like Disney does it?

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney Singalong - Be our Guest

Young brontosaurus Littlefoot and his pals venture out of the Great Valley into the Mysterious Beyond and encounter a T-rex and a pair of omnivores who just want to be friendly. (Gulp.) The gang learns how hard it is to be a kid on one's own in a scary place--what with landslides and ferocious "sharptooths." 5-0 out of 5 stars 6 yr old rates this the best
We have all The Land Before Time videos, and I asked the 6 yearold critic which was the best. He said this one, without hesitation, and it is certainly the one that has been played most often. He particularly likes the songs in this one, and I think the concept of being scared (within the safety of the living room, with mum and dad nearby) is very tantalising.

Each of the movies has a "message" and while it can be a bit cloying for adult viewers, they do seem to strike a chord with the kids. In this one the kids are alone facing danger, and they "learn just how hard it is to be a grown-up - and how nice it is to be a kid! - in this captivating story of hope, love and trust." (from box notes).

4-0 out of 5 stars Mesmerizingly bad, but hilarious.
These four stars are there both for levels of hilarty. One, mind numbingly awful songs. Two, bad voice work. Three, the sappy cornyness. Four, a few good intese scenes. I guess I should expect this since I'm not a 6 year old who loves all animated films. This could be for people who love a good laugh. Think of it as a well animated PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE eithout the plot meets musicals about dinosaurs. For those who don't understand, I am talking about it's direct to video quality. Peace out!

5-0 out of 5 stars #2
IT MAY BE #2 IN THE SERIES BUT THIS VIDEO IS #1 TO ME

2-0 out of 5 stars poor piece of crap
One of my favorite movies is Land Before time. The story is great, the characters are cool, and the sequals...........well, are poor. A sequal might seem like a good idea. But, they were poor. The music on the video is terrible. sounds like my friend who can't sing a note. And the story is horrible. It's not good. Avoid every sequal, if you can help it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Oh my god...
This sequal is a disgrace. The fact its a nonsensical, wimpified sequal to a powerful movie like "The Land Before Time" is even more of a disgrace. Its like making a sequal to "Schindler's List" and having it be a slapstick comedy.

Ducky's character is made annoying and I wanted her to die several times in the movie. Peetwee now speaks in the third person and is almost similar to Ducky's personality, and...gaaah! Just thinking about this movie gives me a tumor!

Don't watch it. No, not even with kids. I watched this as a little kid and I hated it. That's when you know a movie is sad. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for ALL AGES!
As a kid, I loved the Schoolhouse Rock series and still remember the Grammar Rock songs. As a mom, I came across Schoolhouse Rock again by chance and thought I'd get the tapes for my kids who are now 2 and (nearly) 5 to enjoy when they're older. Amazingly, not only my Kindergartener but also my 2 year old prefer this tape to just about anything else right now - including the Wiggles and Blues Clues! I thought I'd bought these for the future, but they absolutely love the music and the animation and my 2-year old goes around singing snatches of "Interjections" and "Lolly Lolly Lolly get your Adverbs Here". As for my Kindergarten-age son, he has grown to enjoy it on a whole new level now that he is reading and beginning to learn grammar and punctuation concepts. Parents, it's never too soon to invest in this gem! I'd much rather have them watching this than the Rugrats or something...

5-0 out of 5 stars What's Your Function?
By far my favorite of the School House Rock videos, Grammar Rock is a wonderful teaching tool for children and a fun trip down memory lane for those of us old enough to remember when it was first aired on television.

Anyone who has watched these videos knows that there is definitely a link between music and memory, and School House Rock taps into that phenomenon. With cute animation and catchy lyrics, each video utilizes music as a mnemonic device so children can remember the principles of speech just by humming a familiar tune.

Who can forget those timeless classics like "Conjunction Juntion," "Verb, That's What's Happening," "A Noun is a Person, Place or Thing," and my favorite from Grammar Rock, "Interjection!"? Many adults who grew up with these videos can still recall them today.

I urge everyone who has children to buy the entire School House Rock video set. Start with Grammar Rock, and then move on to Math, then History, then Science. Your children will thank you for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why I get straight "A's" in English!
I love this video! My mom bought it for me and my siblings when I was in second grade. I fell in love immediately. I still watch it just for old time's sake. The tunes are so catchy that I still remember all the words. For years, whenever I had a question on adverbs, for instance, the song from this video would come to mind. This is also partly why I got a 660 on the verbal section of my PSATs last year! If you buy this you'll never regret it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey, kids! Learn the rules of grammar and have fun doing it!
When it comes to the rules of grammar I know the difference between an independent and a dependent clause and that is about it. If you want to talk about the building blocks of sentences I really do not even know the basics (you only had to go up and diagram sentences on the board if you were not putting them together directly and I was reading books all the time and sort of picked up correct sentence structure by osmosis, so I know how to fix sentences even if I am totally incapable of explaining the rules). Anyhow, the point of this meandering down memory lane is simply to state the obvious: Here are the basics. Learn that "A Noun is a Person, Place, or Thing," "Unpack Your Adjectives," and take a ride down to "Conjunction Junction." Also included are "Verb: That's What's Happening," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, Adverbs Here," "Interjections," and the immortal "Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla" (no excuses if you do not know that last one is about pronouns).

"Schoolhouse Rock" was created in the 1970s, when an advertising executive noticed his son was having trouble memorizing his multiplication tables but knew all the words to rock songs on the radio. The marriage of pop music with information spawned a series of three-minute cartoons on government, history, grammar, science, and math that aired on ABC television from 1973 to 1985. As long as the rules of grammar do not change (and they look like they are pretty much engraved in, uh, rock) then these seven mini-lessons are going to be useful to teachers and students alike.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grammar Rock is EXCITING,very creative,AND learnable!
I watched it as a child on saturday morning cartoons and now I play the tapes for my children 2 and 5. It is the best teaching cartoon music video on the market today. I keep waiting for new ones to come out!
My five year old can not yet spell or write well, but she knows what an adverb is. She is getting a strong foundation in grammar, math, history, and science from these tapes. I look forward to the complete collection in Aug 2002.
Highly recommended.

Together, the three stories in this video offer a fine introduction to the basics of reading, in an appealing and humorous format kids will enjoy. Dr. Seuss ABC's teaches the alphabet through whimsical Seuss characters and crazy, kid-friendly words. Each word of the alphabet is introduced with its capital and lowercase letters. Then different words that use the letter are spelled. Kids will enjoy the zany illustrations, and will be challenged to learn phonetics, with phrases like "duck-dog," "quacking quackeroo," "four fluffy feathers on a fiffer-feffer-fef," and "yawning yellow yak." In the second segment, the Cat in the Hat points out all the wonderful things kids can learn if they only read with their eyes open. Finally, "Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?" teaches phonetics through the story of a man who can make sounds like animals and everyday appliances. --Elisabeth Keating ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Who says you can't play with words?
My son loved his Dr. Seuss books so much we decided to try a video. We chose this one because he was working on his ABCs at the time. He LOVES it! I see other reviewers haven't cared for the nonsensical ABCs, but our son's highest rave is "silly", and he loves to play with letters and words (think of Raffi's "Apples and Bananas" song). His favorite part is the Mr. Brown segment, which he watches while reading along in his own Mr. Brown book. Yes, it is more of a video of still pictures, but so are many of our older Richard Scarry videos, and he loves those as well - I think of it as strengthening his attention span. I would recommend this video for those children who already love their Dr. Seuss books, and for parents who prefer non-battery operated toys - it is classic, it is simple, and it is effective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Way To Learn ABC's
My daughter loves the book, so I decided to try the video and am very pleased that I did. She always points to the television asking for the "ABC" show. I think what makes this video so enjoyable is its simplicity. The animation is very minimal and the same illustrations from the original book are used in it. I have noticed that many of those who have reviewed Dr. Seuss videos feel that the lack of "cartoon" quality and simple style are detrimental to their children's viewing pleasure. This video is a far cry from a "Blues Clues" or "Elmo's World" but that, I believe, is its main strength. If your children enjoy the book, I believe they will enjoy the video.

1-0 out of 5 stars Anti-educational in the extreme
I am not an anti-TV person. I have no problems letting my toddler watch a few movies a day. [I have found that the Wiggles are the best.] However, I don't want to educate my children to watch the movie instead of reading the book.

This movie adds absolutely nothing to the original books. It is very poorly done, and looks like they just show page after page of the original books.

So why bother with this? It is far better to sit down with your child and read that actual books to them.

1-0 out of 5 stars A big disappointment
This video was not animated like the classic Chuck Jones features such as "The Cat In The Hat" and "The Grinch". My daughter was rather disappointed to see the camera scanning over pages of the books she already owns along with paper cutouts of the characters floating around as a cheap replacement for animation. We give this video a thumbs down.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great learning tool for little ones
My son who is 3 years old loves this DVD. He repeats (and learns) his alphabet along with it. The 2 extra stories are a plus, but his favorite part is the ABC part. I recommend it for anyone with a young child who needs to learn in a fun way. ... Read more
