This multilevel class is safe for and accessible to beginners, and just right for intermediates. Three of Fonda's able and motivating instructors teach the 45-minute step class. Half the room does lower-intensity moves; the other uses higher steps and higher-intensity techniques. The teaching technique is excellent: a pattern is taught on the floor before taking it up on the step. One participant does the routines totally without the step to guide beginners or others who don't feel comfortable using the step. The patterns never get very complex, but they are varied enough to keep you interested and energized, and you can adjust your step height to make the workout harder if you wish. The instructors cue seamlessly. Fonda herself teaches the 10-minute abdominal segment, with enough variations of the standard crunch to keep your abs contracting and your mind engaged. --Joan Price ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars GOOD Step Workout GREAT Ab Workout!
This workout video is divided into two parts. First there is
    a 45-minute step aerobic section which includes a warm-up,
several different step combination featuring a rotation of
three instructors, a cool-down, and a short lower body stretching
segment. The second part is a ten-minute ab workout hosted by
Jane Fonda herself. The step workout is not difficult, in fact
it may be aimed more for beginners as the instructors often ask
the viewer to pay attention to their breathing and lessen their
movements if need be. I consider myself at a strong intermediate
level and work out with step videos 4-7 days a week. When adding
my own propulsion, I still feel I get a good workout with this
video. I like the rotating instructors (especially the cute guy,
I get tired of only watching women instructors on aerobics tapes).
I feel different instructors bring variety to the workout. The music also
changes with each rotation. Not the most hip music (this is
probably not a tape aimed at the young), but oh well.

The ab workout makes this video well worth seeking out. Fonda
does an excellent job explaining the moves, especially how to
breath during the crunches. I used to be confused on the correct
breathing procedure during abdominal crunches. Often, I would
unconsciously hold my breath. After using this video, I know
the correct breathing plus correct arm placement for all my
    ab workouts!

3-0 out of 5 stars Eventually Fonda shows up in the video!
This 1992 aerobic stair stepping was made before Jane Fonda was challenged to compete with some of the upcoming celebrity workout video exercise gurus. So, it is safe to say that it is made when she was more serious into exercising and not focusing on competition for sales.

The video workout is in two segments, a 45 minute high energy low impact step aerobic geared for all fitness levels as the class of about 15 utilizes either no step bench to varying heights of the step modules. It is advised that you do the step workout and abdominal workout on separate days. Since the second part is only 10 minutes, I encourage incorporating it as a habit after the step workout. The workout isn't difficult, however, you will need to pay attention to fast changing steps because they step off the bench with many movements there also.

I don't prefer the instructors switching constantly, I don't like too many intricate steps, motions, stepping. What I prefer is more consistency with movements, but I guess they have to make it exciting. The music is, as usual in Fonda's tapes, pounding, technobeat consistent sound.

Second portion is where Jane comes in; she uses a step bench to strength and tighten the abdominals, and also includes pelvic curls which work the lower abdominals. Here, focus is only abdominal work. This is where Jane Fonda is at her best. I have followed her doing some fantastic work focusing on the abdominals, but maybe stair stepping isn't her forte.

Not challenging enough for advanced people. MzRizz.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Video
This is a great step video. It's very easy to follow, the instructors are very upbeat. The cues are given opposite of what they are doing so that you actually follow it and do it the same as them. I find most videos the instructor gives cues for their own left and right and I'm always having to do the opposite to what they say to stay in line with them. I love this workout, it is my favourite of all the step videos I have.
This is an beginner to intermediate video though I wouldn't recommend it for advanced steppers.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent
I gave this four stars because it is an easy video to follow, but is not intense enough for an intermediate to advanced exerciser like me. Jane does not actually instruct the video, she has three different people lead you through the aerobic portion of the video. The instructors are pretty good; they are enthusiastic and cue well. However, I barely broke a sweat, but I think this workout is perfect for novices. Jane leads you through the short abdominal section, which was again geared towards novices.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
An easy but effective workout -- I just love this tape and you will see results in no time. My only disappointment is that Jane leads you in the abdominal workout, not the step routine, but otherwise this is very good. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars too corny
This video is composed of 6 mins. warm up, 35 mins. aerobics, and 10 mins. cool down.
Overall, I found this workout to be too corny. By reading the reviews, I thought I could get past it. I did a good job except when I got to the "hoe-down" part. You do this weird hobo looking move and you have to clap twice everytime with the music. I did the move, but didn't clap.
There was also this weird man who was purposely trying to be dorky. He was supposedly the "new" guy in class.
Anyway, I found the workout to be okay. I'm really out of shape so I was really sweating by the middle of the workout.
Maybe it's because I'm not really into aerobic workouts, but I only gave this video 3 stars because it recycled the moves alot. There was variation in the beginning, but the same moves get used later with a different song, and yet again with another different song.
Jane's cues were okay. I didn't get how to do some moves the first time, but pretty much knew them by the third time. However, sometimes she misses cues. For example, when you do the grapevine, she doesn't tell you whether to kick or heel everytime; instead, she just nods her head and smiles at you, as if you're supposed to just know.
    Overall, I give this video a C+

5-0 out of 5 stars Still one of the best
Yes, it's the '80s. Yes, the outfits are now hysterical (dig those leopard-print suspenders and big hair!). Yes, it's Jane Fonda, who has given up doing aerobics these days. But it's still the best low-impact workout I've ever found. As others have said, you've always got one foot on the ground, but you definitely get your heart rate up. The moves are fun. My favorite one is "chicken turns."

I prefer the enthusiasm and silliness to some of the more sterile video styles out there; it definitely doesn't detract from the workout. This definitely isn't the right video for you if you take yourself seriously, however.

It's about 35 minutes of aerobics and another 10 minutes of excellent warmup and cooldown; this tape has the best cooldown out there. I wish I could attach it to all my other workout videos.

As others have said, it covers a range of ability -- from beginner to intermediate. I'd say an advanced exerciser might find the video below their capabilities, even with added weights. But it definitely brings about results -- after doing this video for a few months, I visibly toned up and lost inches.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't be exercise, it's fun!
Exercise has always been a dreaded word around me; until recently when I failed a stress test at 45 years old. I knew I had to do something. High impact aerobics always results in shin splints on me, so I was looking for something that would give me a good cardiovascular work-out, hold my interest, and not cause stress injuries.

This tape was heaven sent! I didn't think I'd be able to keep up with a 50 minute tape, but within a couple days I was keeping pace. I do it 5 days a week and have noticed a tremendous improvment in my pulse rate. It's a lot of fun. If you can get beyond the class clown, (which is pretty easy to do) you can find yourself dancing your way to a fit condition with a smile on your face. I recommend this tape to anyone who, like me, never thought they could actually look forward to exercise.

5-0 out of 5 stars The very best low impact but fat burning workout!
This is the best workout for people who want to lose weight, feel good and want a workout that works! Remember consistency is important. This workout helps you workout without straining your muscles. You like it so much that you want to do the workout 4-5 times a week. This in turn helps you lose weight. I lost the weight I added on after I had my baby. I love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars I really, really love this video!
I've tried a bunch of tapes, and I keep coming back to this one. For a good, whole-body aerobic workout that really is low-impact (but HIGH intensity!), you just cannot beat it. And, if you actually DO it with some regularity, the results are there. Nothing works if you don't do it enough -- but I've seen the difference in my shape when I actually stick to a workout, and this video is the ONLY one that I've seen that kind of results from.

I've tried other Jane Fonda workouts, too -- my other favorites would be the Complete Workout and the Yoga Workout. I'm looking forward to trying Stress Reduction Workout in the near future, too, as something to add to my 'rotation'. But I'll ALWAYS rotate back to this old favorite! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy with visible results
I also have purchased other facial exercise videos in the past and none have given results like Face Aerobics. I found it simple to do, and very easy to follow Judith's examples. I was feeling a bit down on my birthday last year as the years were beginning to show on my face. I have now reversed the clock with this program. It is not going to make you look 20 but it will make you look the very best for your age. By the way, a surgical face lift WILL NOT make you look 20 either. You will look unaturally stretched and different. Your skin and/or facial muscles will be damaged, and in 6 to 8 yrs you'll need another lift. With natual gentle Face Aerobics you'll simply be maintaining your results for the rest of your life. So, what would you rather do? Spend $20.00 for a safe, healthy, natural face lift or $15,000.00 for surgery with temporary results and risks?

5-0 out of 5 stars It really works! Thank you Miss Olivia!
I have to admit, when I saw Judith Olivia demonstrate the facelift exercises on Good Morning America, I was a bit skeptical at first. Because of health reasons, cosmetic surgery is not an option for me. So, I decided to give it a try. The results came quickly. Even my husband noticed the difference. With just a little bit of working out my facial muscles, my cheeks and jawline are lifted and my double chin is gone. Face Aerobics may seem like it's too good to be true, but it really does work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Positive results!
I have been doing Face Aerobics for 2 years and it is a part of my daily routine. I can't begin to tell you the incredible difference it's made in my life. I feel terrific... even when I look in the mirror. My face is tight and tone. I do the eye and cheek exercises every other day since those areas are the first to show aging. I get comments all the time on how great I look. In fact, most people guess my age to be 10-15 years younger than I am. (I'm age 61) Many friends think I've had a facelift, but I keep telling them it's all Face Aerobics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Money well spent! Thank you!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the Best Firm Video
About three years ago I was 30 pounds over weight. I bought this video as well as another one by Red Book. I started with the Red Book one (it was easier) and advance to this one. I'm still using it three years later. It's the cornerstone of my weight and aerobic workout and I do it about once every two weeks (I do about four to five workouts a week and like to keep things varied). Since I began my workout regime I have bought may Firm titles and enjoy them. This is by far the best and I see the best results when I've done this one. I've also tried other workout videos and nothing compares to the Firm. You really do see results quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite "older" Firm Video
I own the whole set of the old firm videos, and this one is my favorite. The instructions are easy to follow, and I can build up to a higher level of fitness easily by increasing the weights. One thing I would definitely change if I could is the music--although the tunes are interesting, a more "aerobic" type mix would be more motivating for me. But I do go back to this video year after year, and feel great during and after my workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grunting is good!!
I think this is the hardest tape I've ever done by far, and I own many Firm tapes. Ms. Bergman is an excellent instructor because just when you are ready to give up, she gives you that extra "get tough", or "power! control!" that keeps me motivated. This works your entire body into "muscle exhaustion" and you will see results in ten workouts or less. Beginners may not like the format of the tape, but do NOT use weights at first. Remember to do what you can and work up. I started with either no weights, or two pound weights and am now up to ten pound hand weights and 2 and a half pound ankle weights. The brilliance of the original Firm tapes is that they never can get boring. Just add more weight! Also, I found more results using this tape because it is interval training. My heart rate never drops to normal in the hour long workout. A great way to burn fat and lose weight.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good video, but not really for beginners
I liked the video, but when I did it I hadn't exercised a lot before so it was pretty hard to do. I was out of breathe, and even when your trying not to work too hard, it's pretty tough. It's hard to do, but the video has a lot of variety which makes it less boring to do. It does feel like you are working out, though. This is what I call a hard day's workout. On the days that you really want to kick your workout up a notch, this is the tape to do. I can completely see how you can see results in the first ten workouts. I bet you could even see results in half that time. It's a tough workout, but if you don't mind working hard or putting extra effort into your day, this is the workout for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun...and also still great!
This is another oldie, but goodie! I really like the older Firm videos. The first four (the ones I have currently) are all challenging, with instructors that cue pretty good and are motivating. The music is nice...some find it very '80's, but I love it. It sounds like music, not just noise and it keeps the pace nicely. The promise of visible results in 10 workouts is true...if you do them several times a week and eat right you won't be disappointed! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This tape gives you a GREAT workout!
Hip Hop Aerobics is a wonderful workout video. Despite what others may have said, this video DOES make you sweat. It's about 30 mins long, not including the warm up and cool down. And after this, you get a 7 minute ab workout. I must warn you though, this is for people who love to dance. The routine is challenging, I must admit. And you have to have a lot of passion , strengh, and endurance to get it down. There are lots of dancers and two very good instructors that you can follow. You can use the moves in dance clubs, the music is great, but you may have to rewind and pause to get the steps down. This is a very challenging routine, but you will burn lots of calories and tone up while having fun and learning to dance. This is a must buy, along with Fat Burning Grooves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Energizing and Fun
I bought this video about a year ago and I have been using it ever since. It is not the type of video that makes you sweat a whole lot, but once you get the moves down, you WILL get a good workout. The moves are fun and you can even use them in the clubs. Linda Nader and Eric Neis do a wonderful job at leading you through the moves and encouraging you throughout the video. This video is also very good at giving your muscles a good stretch.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun and motivating
Let's be honest, it's a 90's video, this is the 2000's, some things are going to be outdated. Fun and motivation are not outdated though. The workout is what you make out of it. Once you learn the moves you can make it as intense as you want. Instead of marching it out while the moves are reviewed, you can challenge yourself a little and do your own thing. Try to see how many times you can do the move fast while they break it down. It's all up to you. I always break a sweat, I always hit my target heart rate and I always have fun. This work out got me in shape once before and it will again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Work Out!!
It's fun and the time goes quickly and you keep heart rate up whole video!

3-0 out of 5 stars A little outdated
This video was made in '95 and the outfits/scenery is a little outdated. The moves are alright, there were some good and some bad... this is a video that I don't do in front of anyone! I didn't really break a sweat until about 1/4 of the way through the video. The steps are easy though, and it's not hard to follow along. The ab workout at the end is good. ... Read more

This video misrepresents itself. Although the title is Low Impact Aerobics, it is not low impact. The cardio intervals include jogging, jumping jacks, and other moves with hops. This is a 65-minute reissue of a 1988 video that features Janet Jones-Gretzky, who is so slim that you can count her ribs through her white leotard, leading a class of fit, gorgeous exercisers (female and male). This aerobic interval workout combines fast cardio (no patterns) with more controlled cardio plus weights, though still at a fast pace. We've learned a lot about exercise since 1988, and these two-second reps with weights are not as effective as slower reps. They are also more likely to lead to injury. Although the video is targeted to all levels, unless you're an experienced exerciser, it's too easy to lose correct form when you're doing such fast reps and aerobic moves at the same time. You might find the weight intervals repetitious (tons of lunges and shoulder presses). A floor-work segment uses ankle weights, followed by a stretch. Unless you miss the old Firm workouts, choose one that is more up to date (and therefore safer and more effective). --Joan Price ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS VIDEO IS VERY TOUGH!
I would definitely recommend LOW IMPACT (vol 2) w/Janet Jones-Gretzky because it is TOUGH. Everyone is right however, this is NOT low impact, but I love high impact anyway, so this is probably why I love this volume.
***Volume two is led by Janet Jones Gretsky. I personally like her, I think she is very calming w/ her tone of voice and isn't as icy as Sandahl Bergman from Volume 3. Janet seems to do the moves very effortless (a plus or minus depending on who you talk to!) and the cast hardly (if ever?) sweats during this workout!
I do though! I am advanced, I find this video to be one of the FIRM's toughest. (along w/volume 1)

This volume has VERY tough upper body work including frontal sweeps and overhead presses, along with biceps and tricep work. There is also a very tough set of pushups in this volume. The leg work is also tough, not as tough as Susan Harris' in volume one, but definitely a burner! There is the traditional leg floor work, because the tallbox that the FIRM uses now for leg work wasn't used until volume three.
The high impact (aka "Low impact aerobics") part in this video would be the beginning aerobic tune where you hop around and do various leg moves and a few plyos at the end. This is why most consider this video high impact...........
I enjoy this volume because it is long (65min)
WARNING THOUGH! You shouldn't get this video if-
    1)you dislike eighties cheezy music/hair/makeup!
    2)floor work bothers you
3)you dislike exercisers that don't sweat
4)you are just starting out w/the FIRM or w/exercise (little pointers, more advanced format)
I hope this helps a little bit...
There is a HUGE difference between new/old FIRMS-
cueing, instruction, no "guest instructors" more fun choreography and music, but if you are looking for an athletic not too dancy video, and you like 80's music, get this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars the firm volume 2 - with Janet Gretzky
I have been using this tape since 1988. I believe it is one of the best workout tapes I have ever used. I have tried some of the other firm workout tapes, but I still think this is the best. I workout 3 times a week to this tape and do pilates once a week. I would like to see if I could get the volume 2 on dvd, because my tape is starting to skip. I believe I have worn it out. Thank you, Reeda

4-0 out of 5 stars Super cardio work- you can do this low impact
I like this tape and have held on to it for 15 years- it is a great long workout with a good warm up and cool down.

I modify the bouncing moves to more stable low impact moves and find I still get my heart rate climbing.

I use this and the Susan Harris Total Body Sculpting tapes to mix things up in the winter when outdoor daily exercise is limited in the northeast.

This is an intermediate level tape- one of very few honestly that I have found that work well for someone who is not a total beginner, but not interested in Step or other high impact/high joint stress workouts.

    4-0 out of 5 stars IT'S ALRIGHT
I just did this for the first time last night and though it did get my heart rate up, I felt that the cardio section was too short. A lot of reviewers are calling this a tough workout but I didn't think it was that hard at all. I am an advanced exerciser, but I'm still 170 lbs, so I'm not just saying that because I'm in amazing physical shape. I think super cardio, calorie killer 2 (power cardio), and fat blaster were all harder than this one. She does lift the weights a bit too fast but if you use this as more of a pure cardio routine instead of a strength routine and keep the weights light (3lbs) you should be ok. It was fun though, and the hour just seemed to fly by. The instructor is pretty and very pleasant to listen to. I will be adding it to my rotation for lighter days.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tough, high intensity workout
This was the first Firm workout I bought about two years ago. I've gone on to buy eight or nine more, but this one remains one of the toughest of the bunch. I still reach for it on days when I need a very tough 65-minute workout that will hit almost all my major muscles in both upper and lower body (inner thighs and the upper back don't get much attention here).

I agree with other reviewers about having to get past the eighties muzak and leotards, but this was a very minor point for me. Note that this is NOT a step workout, like some of the other Firm tapes, and the only equipment you'll need is three sets of weights (3, 5, and 8 pounds for beginners is what they recommend) and a board or something to elevate your heels during bridge work. Space requirements are reasonable -- I do this tape in a small living room. There are a fair amount of jogging/jumping jacks intervals, though, so apartment-dwellers may want to keep that in mind.

I only have two real gripes about this workout. First, the instructor moves VERY quickly, and doesn't talk at all about form. For example, she'll have you doing standing rows, militaries, and curls with heavy weight very, very quickly, which I suspect leads to extremely poor form. Most of the arm work is at that fast tempo, in fact, so if you use the heavy weight she calls for, pay very close attention to form. Beginning lifters should get another tape first, maybe one of the Firm tapes with Tracey Long, who gives excellent instruction without slowing the workout.

My second gripe is that the instructor's cuing could be better. She'll often forget to cue, or give a slightly confusing cue. This is only a problem for me during the abs work, when I can't see the TV, and she has you switch sides during oblique twists without actually telling you to. The other miscues are easy to just watch and adapt to.

Beyond those two things, this is a great workout. If you're a Firm believer, this one won't disappoint you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Chair Dancing gets you moving in your seat!
This is a fantastic beginning workout/aerobic video for a physically handicapped person! You can easily adapt any & all movements of this video to fit your personal needs. The video is very energetic & easy to follow! Thanks Jodi!

4-0 out of 5 stars way too much fun
I actually own this tape -- and have used it on several occasional. It is silly and a tab bit geeky, but it gives you a very good workout. Its a great low-impact aerobic workout tape for those who can't handle being on their feet for long periods of time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered!!
As a partially disabled 73 year old, my Dr. suggested I look for a low impact, yet energetic exercise video. Because of knee replacements and leg problems, my activities in the excercise field have been limited.

The instructor is a vivacious young woman who is easy to understand and is a good motivator.

The exercises were simple, entertaining and at times I could feel my feet tapping to the sound of "Broadway"..we "made believe" we were dancing with top hats, doing the "can-can" and just plain having fun.

    Excellent for upper body exercise.

    FUN!!

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!! It is very deceiving the workout you accomplish.
I took this in a weight management class at UCDavis, Sacramento and cannot recommend it enough. It motivated me to participate and then to keep on participating! I wasn't self-conscious and was able to complete half the tape the first time (the burn was incredible) and on my second time I was able to go through the whole tape. The material was varied, Jodi is amazing. I felt she had created this tape just for me. I thank Howie Mandel for having Jodi on, many people need her, if for nothing else to get moving. Thanks, Jodi! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it, My kids love, and the neighbors love it
Where has this video been hiding? Everybody I show this video to absolutely loves it, it's amazing. This guy (Rich Grogan) is good, and he is great with kids. I have never seen kids take so much interest in exercising. I put this video on and they get busy. I have tried a great deal of kids exercise videos for my kids, and I have tried a few adult exercise videos for myself, and I tell you this is heads & tails above anything I've ever seen. I normally don't write reviews, I just don't like doing it, but this video is worth the time to write about. Go Rich Grogan, my family is all new fans of yours.

5-0 out of 5 stars Without a doubt - THE VERY BEST KIDS VIDEO I'VE EVER SEEN
This is video is without a doubt the best kids video I've ever seen. Words can't describe it, and I wouldn't even know where to begin. At first I thought the price was a little high compared to some of the other kids videos, but after watching this video I would have paid $100 for it - it is that good. And, it's not just a matter of me loving this video, it is the feedback I'm getting from my kids. They actually enjoy exercising. Rich's motivation & enthusiasm is second to none, and my kids really pick up on it - They love this video. As I have mentioned, this video is number one, my family loves it and I am sure your family will too.
Thank you Rich, my family loves your videos - we are fans for life.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Incredible Program - EXCELLENT
This is absolutely the most incredible program I've EVER seen. I generally don't write reviews, because most exercise programs I've seen don't deserve the time it takes to write one. So if I'm taking the time to write this one, let me tell you it is worth it. The words incredible, great, and excellent don't even come close to describing this program, I just couldn't think of any more powerful words to use.
The guy on this video, Rich Grogan, has really got something with this program. First of all he is fun, and entertaining for the kids. And the kids that are actually in the video are having fun (genuine fun, none of this paid actors fun), they're feeding off of Rich's positive energy, and having a good time with it. This is one of the major hooks that pulls you in, these kids are glowing with fun, energy, and excitement, and it is basically thrown into your living room when you watch the video. My kids at home can't just sit on the couch and watch this program, they have to get up and actually do the program. It is almost like some super-natural force grabs them and pulls them on the floor to begin exercising with Rich & the kids. I know this may sound strange, and I am sure some people are saying to themselves, "there is NO way my kid would be this excited about an exercise program". Well, I'm telling you it is true. And, it's not like my kids have only watched the program once or twice, we have basically wore out our VHS copy, and that is why we bought the DVD, which is even better, because now we can skip through to certain parts of the program when we are short on time. What I've been doing in the mornings, before summer camp, I'll get the kids up and pick a section of the video (DVD) and have them do that section before we leave for summer camp, or do the same at night before bed. I really would have thought by now that my kids would be tired of this video, but the way Rich has set the program up, it is still challenging for them. Rich continually tells the kids to have fun, and to do their very best, and to just do what they can. But he makes the program so darn fun that the kids really apply themselves, and do what they can to become better at the moves. Anyway, Rich does sets of 15 instead of the normal set of 5 or 10, this way, as he explains it, the kids can continue to advance within the program, because maybe they can only do 5 push ups or jumping jacks when they first start the program, but the goal is to reach 15, so they have to keep practicing at it. Another interesting thing Rich does is, he has the kids visualize they are grabbing apples & oranges instead of punching each other, or an imaginary opponet. At first I thought this was a little goofy, but once again as Rich explains it, it takes the violent aspect out of the technique, it makes it more fun for the kids, and if the kids pretend they are grabbing something they get a better stretch throughout the entire movement, both forward & back.
Did I say this video was Incredible?
I could list about 10 more things, but I think you get the picture. I'm telling you, BUY THIS FOR YOUR KIDS, it's amazing!
Hey Rich, if you read this, Your program is the greatest! Thank you from me & my kids!
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Jacobbson & Family

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW - This is one incredible program
This program is absolutely amazing. I have NEVER seen kids respond to a program, (especially an exercise program) the way kids respond to this one. I just put the tape (Now the DVD)in and the kids are lost in a world of exercise. I am sure this sounds crazy, especially how kids are today about exercising, but I swear it's the truth. I read several of the other reviews and I wasn't quite sure my kids would be as wrapped up in the video as others had stated. - I was wrong. My kids LOVE IT, we have played the tape over 25 times, and now we have the DVD (which is great), and I don't know how many times we are going to play it.
Take my word for it, this program is the most incredible program I've ever seen for kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Amazing
I agree 100% with the other reviews. This video is pretty amazing, and just like the other reviews had stated, the kid's involvement is even more amazing. I popped this video in and the kids didn't move from the T.V. Now, I can't tell you that they did the entire program the first couple of times, but they still watched it. And, after about 3 times watching it they got through the entire program with only a few breaks. This is another awesome feature, because a lot of exercise videos, especially childrens leave no room for growth. Meaning, you have mastered the video the first time through, and after watching it a second or third time you are bored with it. This is especially true for children, who get bored of just about anything after a few times. But, like I mentioned this program is different, it is challenging enough to keep the kids trying, but not to tough where they lose interest. In my opinion it is a perfect balance, which in itself is pretty amazing. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Results Fast!
I bought the Face Aerobics video after reading about Miss Olivia in Shape Magazine. Exercise works for the body, why not for the face? At first, I was concerned that facial exercises would cause MORE wrinkles- that's what I've heard before. But, Olivia says that in the past, other facial exercises DID cause problems because they were stretching the skin. Face Aerobics exercises were designed to strenghthen and tone up the facial muscles WITHOUT stretching the delicate skin on the face.
So, I took the plunge and followed the video's advice- doing the exercises almost everyday for two weeks. Wow! I don't look tired anymore. The eyebags were the first to go, and then my jawline and cheeks perked up. I do not look "pulled" like I've seen on many cosmetic surgery patients. People comment that I have lost weight or look great even without makeup on.
Now I do Face Aerobics 2-3 times a week to maintain my new face. I think I look 10 years younger. (I am 53) But, I feel 20 years younger!
I would say, BUY this video. It's easy to follow along with rather than try to imitate the exercises out of a book. I've learned to do the exercises sowell, that I do them while I wash the dishes, walk the dog and even when I take a shower.
Thank you Judith Olivia for Face Aerobics!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Happy with Results...
I just love the Face Aerobics workout! I've been using the exercises for over a year and the advanced video is my favorite. The advanced exercises are a real workout for your face, yet easy to follow along with on the video. If you want to whip your face into shape fast, try this video for sure!

5-0 out of 5 stars Program really does work!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great video, great results!
Spend [twenty] for a safe, healthy, natural face lift or [fifteen grand] for surgery with temporary results and risks?

5-0 out of 5 stars ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS!
This is the best facial exercise program. I tried several others, with minimal results. But none helped my double chin and eye bags. Short of surgery, I thought I'd have to live with it. Thanks to Judith's video I don't look "over the hill" anymore. My jawline has been lifted (along with my chin).I noticed results within the first few days, however it took about three weeks to acheive the results I desired. I am thrilled with the results. The facial exercises are presented in a very, clear simple matter. Now I do a few exercises everyday to keep my face looking younger. Added plus is it's relaxing!
Included at the end of the video, is a presentation of The Beautiful Skin Kit, which you have to see- it's some kind of all natural weekly skin treatment. I got a coupon with the video for a free sample. Or you can get a free sample from facelady.com
All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase... and my new face at age 50! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a fun way to get into shape
This tape is very entertaining, with a lot of fun and easy moves. I recommend it to all beginners.

5-0 out of 5 stars Low Impact Aerobics
I just bought this tape three weeks ago and have been "doing it" 3 days a week. I have lost 3 pounds by just increasing my aerobic activity, plus Jane Fonda's steps are fun! The music is great (I'm 48½ years old). If you don't mind the over-enthusiastic entourage of people working-out with her, plus a little comedic-refief in the form of a lost young man, you'll really enjoy this workout. I look forward to dancing with Jane, and plan to increase my workouts to 5 days a week.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great low impact workout

Outdated, but nonetheless a good workout. Fun, but way too country.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great starter exercise video!
I used this tape for years before moving on to more advanced tapes. The choreography is kind of old-fashioned, but remains fun. It's only 20 minutes long and easy to learn. The instructor is cute and upbeat without being cloying. I still return to it occasionally on low-energy days. Since it's low-impact, there are no worries about overdoing it. Definitely recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like to Dance???? This is the aerobics workout for you!
This video is full of energy! If you like to dance, you will love this workout video. You don't even feel as if you are working out. The music is upbeat as well as the instructor. 3-0 out of 5 stars Good workout but horrible warm-up, some irritating elements
Good aerobic workout of sufficient length (30 minutes post warm-up) and with decent variety -- lunges that keep your heart rate up (although sometimes too fast), step with weights, and low impact with weights. Sometimes the tempo of the weight work is a bit too fast, but this problem can be addressed by using lighter weights.

The warm-up, however, sucks. The instructor gives NO cues or form pointers (and she's very creepy to boot), the routine is insufficient to get the heart pumping (e.g., really slow cha-chas), the tempo changes from fast to slow without warning, and the music is irritating.

The opening commentary is annoying. The instructor admonishes, "Don't use exercise as an excuse to overeat!" If I'd wanted nutritional advice, I would have bought a book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Actually I think it's Tough
I think this is tougher aerobics than the Firm's Tough Aerobics tape. Actually it doesn't claim this but it tones the upper thighs along with giving you a good aerobic workout and making you sweat:)

1-0 out of 5 stars The most boring video ever
I hated this tape. I will probably sell it or give it away. I've had it stored in my closet for years. Too boring, too cheesy, way too uninteresting for me to continue watching, so I have no idea how good the actual workout is. It's just choppy bits of several firm workouts. Hated It!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Workout!
This is a really good workout. There are lots of variations, working with weights & a step. The only awkward thing is the warm-up at the beginning of the video. It's very fast-paced & the instructor doesn't explain where she's going. I just do my own warm-up & start with the aerobics. Also, there are intervals between each workout segment, so there is a few seconds to rest in between. A good workout overall.

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this video!
This video was great for me, as I began to get back into shape. The moves are simple enough for me to learn as a beginner, and fun enough to keep me from getting bored. I like the changing instructors--if you don't like one instructor's style, just wait and it changes. The Firm videos are the only ones that have worked for me, and I've said goodbye to my gym membership (which I never went to enough) for good. ... Read more

This 52-minute video from 1992 combines low-impact and step aerobics with strength training. You keep the heart rate elevated for fat burning and cardiovascular conditioning while working the muscles. Jayne Poteet leads a class of fit exercisers of varying ages through a workout that's as tough as you want to make it, depending on how heavy your weights and how high your step. The aerobic moves are basic--no patterns, no complicated footwork--so beginners can manage the workout. The strength moves are sometimes combined with aerobic moves and sometimes isolated, and they are done slowly for safety and effectiveness. This is a well-designed workout except that the largest upper-body muscles (chest and midback) are left for the end (they're most efficiently worked early in a workout) and the shoulder presses start behind the neck (they're safer starting in front of the shoulders). Poteet includes both upper- and lower-body strength moves, but emphasizes the lower body. You'll need a barbell, dumbbells, a tall (14-inch) step, and a medium step. --Joan Price ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tougher than you'd think
When I first bought this video I was used to the Firm V. 1-5 ... initially I thought of returning it as I breezed through it. WRONG. Enter tall box instead of Reebok step (17") a barbell and heavier weights and this is a most effective workout, particularly on days when my brain isn't fully functioning (shut up!) as it is fairly robotic. Jayne Poteet, a true Georgian peach, is a bombshell visual feast and it's fun to see some seniors in the cast. The pelvic floor contractions alone are a hoot & well worth the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars I TOTALLY AGREE W/THE LAST REVIEW!
Wow, you couldn't have said it better! I think all firms are great (except one or two I HATE) Vol 6 is a good workout, a lighter one I think. This wouldn't be a great intro to the FIRM. Actually, my first FIRM video was Tough Aerobics Mix in 95 and I was hooked, because you get to see some of the best sections from the classics series!
I think if you did vol 6 right off the bat, you might think that this series is too easy for me, but it really isn't!
I think this video is a definite keeper, but my edition is called "BOOMERS WORKOUT" and I feel weird doing this workout because it is more designed for older people or beginners. (that is what my copy says)
I think that if you are a beginner/intermediate, this might be a good starter video, but I agree that it might be good to start w/volume one and try the others
This video does have some tough tough parts. There is a hover squat part that almost kills me!
Jayne is a good instructor, I LOVE her cover, her hair is so pretty on it!
Overall grade for advanced B- (It is adaptable like most FIRMS, but still isn't their toughest)
FOR BEGINNERS- A- (easy to complete, not very tough w/ light weights

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent firm workout
i love the ab routine. this workout is the core of my collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST!!
This is my favorite weight training workout for when I have more time. The routines are simple, so I can learn them quickly, and the workout is VERY intense and rewarding. You'll feel like a work-horse when you're done. Just doing this once or twice a week will make you ALOT stronger and will improve your posture. It's the only weight training video that has kept my interest and I've been doing it for YEARS. Make sure you get steppers that are the appropriate height for your height. The FIRM folks will tell you which ones to get. You can't beat it; it's one of my top 3 overall. Good luck!
    Nita

2-0 out of 5 stars You could do better!
I have to admit that I did not actually do this video, merely previewed it. I lift weights and do step aerobics, but I'd heard so much about The Firm that I rented this video to preview and wasn't very impressed. The outfits, hair and makeup seemed to be the most important thing here. The instructors and class all wore low cut revealing outfits and none of them broke a sweat. They all came slinking into the room at the beginning of the tape, totally aware of the camera, acting as if they were in love with themselves. The workout itself looked to be challenging enough, although I noticed some moves that were not the safest, such as the behind the head barbell presses and barbell squats where the students were advised to look down at the floor instead of keeping their spine in alignment. Then there were the flat dumbbell flys where the students had their legs elevated in the air. You need your feet on the floor while doing those to support your back, especially when using heavier weight. Also, when using those small steps, holding weights and stepping up and down, if you lost your balance or got distracted and tripped or missed the step, you could injure yourself. To my mind, this isn't the safest workout (although I'm sure it's effective) and the instructors did not offer much, if anything, in the way of technique tips.

There are other instructors that I prefer (Karen Voight, Keli Roberts, Kathy Smith) who offer safe and effective workouts. I am not a "Firm Believer." ... Read more

Instructor Lisa Stone developed this physically demanding buteasy-to-follow prenatal exercise program during her own pregnancies. Shebegins the 57-minute tape by going over the ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) safety guidelines in detail, and then begins the 44-minute workout with a warm-up filled with familiarsteps: step-touch, hamstring curls, grapevine. Stone's three 7-minute stepsegments are conducted with several other pregnant women in the background, including one in her ninth month who demonstrates versions of all theexercises without a step. The lower-body conditioning is done with the stepor a chair, and an exercise band would be helpful. She conducts the abdominalwork on the floor and includes Kegels and gluteal work, followed by cool-downstretches and relaxation. Stone's tape has a visual twist: instead of theusual sterile studio, she taped her workout in a huge room withhardwood floors and an enormous (unlit) fireplace. After the workout, thegroup gathers for a Q&A with an informative (if stiff and overrehearsed) ob-gynon the benefits and limitations of exercise during pregnancy. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Want a great workout? This is it!
The Fit For 2 video is great if you want to stay in shape all the way through your pregnancy. I did it until the day before I had my baby! It works several different body parts, including your abs, and teaches you wonderful relaxation techniques to use when you're in labor. The music is very high energy and kept me motivated. Lisa Stone's cueing and choreography are very easy to follow - challenging and fun! I highly recommend this workout!

2-0 out of 5 stars Boring, poor sound , not for beginners.
This video is not for beginners I even tried modifying it myself but it didn't work. Lisa doesn't consider the fact that you are working mirrored to her wich makes it very difficult to keep up with. Also she looks very pregnant on the cover but in the video I don't even think she is. The sound was horrible and annoying her voice has this echoing sound that drove me nuts. I would recommend for everyone beg.to adv. the Kathy Smith Pregnancy Workout and Leisa Hart's Fitmamma both are way better. The only reason I gave this video two stars is because the lower body toning was great. And this might be good for advanced people.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay, but poor sound quality
I thought the workout was challenging and very adjustable, but the production quality was poor. The workout got my heart racing, and I was able to use this video through my second trimester. I also noticed that the instructor got off tempo at times.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fit for 2 Step Aerobic Workout for Pegnancy
I thought this was an excellent video for experienced steppers. It was challenging enough that you felt like you worked-out, but could be modified easily to avoid over exerting yourself. The steps weren't over-explained and it was a work-out instead of an instructional video. The only reason I didn't give it 5-stars is because the instructor gets off tempo at times, but it is not enough of a problem that I would not highly recommend this video.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great pregnancy workout tape!
This video is excellent for a mommy who's familiar with aerobics. I've been doing aerobics for many years so I consider myself quite advanced. So I was looking for an aerobic tape where the instructor didn't explain EVERY LITTLE STEP to you as she was going along. I find that quite annoying when I do aerobics. I feel that if you don't know aerobics, then take a class on learning so others don't have to waste their time learning them again. Either put that in the beginning of the tape so we can fast forward, or have beginning, intermediate, and advanced tapes. The main reason I bought this tape was because of the reviews and somebody complained about them not being able to catch on to the moves so I knew it was the right one for me! I have the Denise Austin tapes and I think she's awful because she explains way too much and I lose interest! Just say STRADDLE, or TURN STEP, and we'll do it, no need to explain if you've been doing it for years!

Another reason why I liked this tape is because you not only get an aerobic workout, but you get toning for your upper and lower body, kegel exercises, and we all know how important those are for labor and delivery, and a relaxation session at the end especially for those who are considering a drug-free natural childbirth.

I rated this tape a 4 instead of a 5 only because they are off key on the rhythm a few times but it's not enough to NOT buy the tape! I don't even look at them, I just listen to the steps she says, and do it. I do it every other day and love it! It may not be as much as I'm used to before I was pregnant because I would do at least an hour straight of aerobics, but enough to get my heart rate up, sweat a little, and feel great afterwards! I highly recommend this tape if you're familiar with aerobics before you got pregnant, and want to stay active during your pregnancy! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You don't have to be old to do this one!
After purchasing many of her tapes, I found they are basic and clear cut, so you can be any age to do this one, especially if you are a bit tired and want to take it a bit easier - you can on this one. Her tapes are not hard -- she uses simple steps -- you cannot fall or hurt yourself - no twisting or turning, etc. You simply walk in place, use some simple arm movements, simple back and forth steps, side steps, etc. She is highly motivating and very down to earth, and I personally feel you can be any age, from a child to a older adult, to do her tapes. Just purchase them and enjoy!

1-0 out of 5 stars This has to be a rehersal tape! Very amaturish!
This looks like a home video. There are several gaps in the music, the group is never in step, Leslie laughs and makes innane comments continuously. The "Walk Aerobics For People Over Forty" is better and there is not much difference in the workout ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Be Fooled!
This video is not for those who want a real workout. First of all, despite it's "hip hop" claim, the music is a throwback to early 80's street hop, not at all what you might expect. Second, the dance moves are extremely complicated. I used this video for months and STILL have yet to master the routine here. Third, the impact it provides isn't even worth all the effort. I seriously question the aerobic value of this program. The good thing is that if you can learn the steps, the dance is pretty fun and I felt great doing such a complicated routine. But be warned that the music is iffy, the moves difficult to learn and the overall impact and effect is just not really worth it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Five Star Dance, Three Star Music
The instructors attire and music were quite dated - making it a little difficult in the beginning to get enthused. However the quality of the dancers and dance routine is great! This video is for the choreographically inclined with dance moves on the moderate level. One extrememly great benefit is that you can add your own style to every move, and the routine will still look great. For those with lots of dance experience, you will learn the routine first time through. EXCELLENT AEROBIC/CARDIOVASCULAR WORKOUT

1-0 out of 5 stars Hip Hop CRAP shop!
I am a teacher of personal fitness and tae-bo. I gave this video to my students to watch, and it was the worst video I have ever seen! I can do better moves than this while I crap. Why is it all black people and one mexican girl? Where's all of the Native Americans? And i think the mitlitary move is highly ineffective. What soldier would use this in a drill!?! I can't believe I spent two dollars on this.

3-0 out of 5 stars Music with a beat! Yeah!
The dance class veteran who criticized the video over not counting and left versus right doesn't get it- this video is NOT for dance class veterans. It is for people who like street dance. The music is dated, but better than most of the stuff out there masquerading as workout music. THe moves are NOT for beginners. If you have no coordination, don't buy this video.

I disagree with the reviewer who argues it is not a workout. My husband and I (in our 30s) mastered the video in 4 sessions. We also lost weight doing it. It won't build muscle, but it works the abs very well. If you are in good shape already, it may not be the workout for you. It is not for the ballet and Darrin's Dance Grooves crowd.

I have to admit, I like modern neo-soul, new jack swing, hiphop, and 80s r&b (anything from Run DMC to Luther, through Mary J. Blige). Most workouts assume r&b and modern urban music fans will simply go along with the neo-elevator music out there. I applaud anything that ditches the elevator music. At least this music had a beat to it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweatin ta hip hop!
The workout was enjoyable. It is made so you can learn at your own pace. The steps are repeated a few times so it was almost easy to learn. They broke the steps down and did variations with and without arms which makes it easier or harder depending on your own personal abilities. I really worked up a sweat. This video I feel is more geared for a beginer that enjoys to dance do to the fact that it is quite repetitions in teaching the steps.
The clothes they wore was a little dated but it was easy to get past that once the workout began. Be prepared to sweat if you buy this! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great, True Low-Impact Workout!
This is a super one!I've returned to exercise after about a year off, and I'm so glad I found this tape.It is truly low-impact, but high intensity, and easy to follow. It's the perfect program for anyone who wants a good workout but not complicated footwork.I was so hoping to find a good low-impact workout that I could actually follow and feel like I've done something really great for myself -- and I found it in this!Yes, the production is not the highest quality, and yes, the music does go in and out a bit, but I am much less concerned with these things than I am with getting a good, easy-to-follow workout.I don't care about the outfits or even a mis-cue once in a while -- this is a tape that delivers what it says it is -- low-impact, high intensity, easy to follow.Try it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time
Let me start by saying the actual moves are pretty standard, though the squats are done too quickly for someone with bad knees. The instructor is pretty awful; she keeps saying "right" when she does *her* right side, and so on.This is the opposite from any other instructor I've ever had, and she's not consistent about it.One time she even calls the left foot three times in a row.She also describes more than one movement as "arms up!" and "big arms!"This wouldn't be so bad if the direction of the video weren't so terrible.About 30% of the time the camera has a close-up of her feet, and you can't see what arm movements she's doing.A lot of times the camera view doesn't fit the entire movement.Sometimes there are face close-ups, which is ridiculous for an aerobics video because we can't see what they're doing. The video quality is poor and the music keeps fading in and out. What I can hear sounds like a cross between a scary movie and an early 80's Nintendo game. It's boring to work out without energetic music, and the instructor doesn't even try to make up for it.All of this makes these reasonably simple routines difficult to follow, and it was a sheer waste of money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Low Impact Aerobics ~Esquire-Great Body
I love this video, have been doing it a couple of times a week for about 2 years, and still haven't gotten tired of it!

The "low impact" is important to me (not allowed to jump around or do Step), yet I still get a good cardio workout in the 25 or so minutes, which is a great length, too, as I never seem to have enough time to do the 45+ minute ones. I find the background music enjoyable - the melody doesn't distract, yet the beat and tone change with the various components of the routine.I also find that with outdoor settings, I tend to look at the scenery, but the studio setting helps keep me focused on getting the most out of my workout.

I think this is a great video for beginners because the routines are not complicated, and you can work up more intensity with bigger, more exaggerated arm and leg movements, and emphasizing more resistance during the motions.

The biggest surprise is that that girl pictured on the jacket is not in the video!

4-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what it claims to be.
This tape is exactly what it claims to be - a safe low-impact workout. There is a lot of energy going on, but it isn'tdifficult to follow. The moves are all simple and Marian Ramaikas gives good cues and explanations. If you are more advanced and a fan of high impact you might be a bit dissappointed with this one though. It really is more of a beginner's aerobic workout. However, I am at a strong intermediate level, and I still enjoy this video. It is perfect for those days when I am just not feeling up to doing a more intense workout, but still want to get up and move.Sometimes I even combine it with another beginner's level workout when I want something longer but not higher impact.I am still able to get my heart rate up to where I need it to be with this tape even though I consider it to be an easy one.The production value isn't great, but it's not as bad as some I've seen.It was produced in 1990 so the outfits and background are a bit dated. The music isn't great, but it fits the movements and helps keep my timing right. There is a tiny bit of skipping and sort of a hop thing going on toward the end. This shouldn't be a problem, even for a beginner, unless you have really severe knee problems. In that case you could probably just march in place and do the arm movements. For the price this is a nice little video.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Workout!
This is a true low-impact aerobics tape. Some tapes that call themselves low-impact aren't really, because at some point they will have the exerciser jogging or jumping jacks and in true low-impact at least one foot is always touching the floor. The three women get you moving quickly and even a person at intermediate level will get a benefit from this 30 minute workout. The only draw-back is the monotonous background music. It varies little in rhythm and never strays from the soft percussion. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent workout!
I've used this tape for several years, even to the point i've worn it out...It helped me to get into the best shape i've ever been in, yes the ladies in the work out are a bit "seductive", and the workout is somewhat repetitive, however, it works...I've never had more shapely legs and buns in my life...It's worth the boredom, stick with it, it works...
