5-0 out of 5 stars Sandra Dee at her liveliest and her most appealing!
There were three films centering on the perky, fun-loving beach bunny, Gidget. This was the first and by far the best!!!!! Pert and pretty Sandra Dee was seventeen and at her liveliest and most appealing when she made this cute little flick. She is absolutely irresistable in the title role, a cute, fun-loving American teenage girl who would rather hit the beach than chase after boys like her other girlfriends. However, when she meets two handsome beachbums, Gidget goes a little boy-crazy herself and experiences first love in the process. This is a warm, charming, and funny movie. I have no doubt that this is the film that made Sandra Dee such a popular star. It's easy to see why she became the idol of so many American girls and boys alike. If you're looking for good, clean and solid fun, then GIDGET is the movie for you!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gidget is a time-travel back to innocence and fun.
If you are a '50s or Grease fan and want to escape today for yesterday, you will enjoy Gidget. This movie is the story of a girl coming of age, discovering boy-girl relationships and trying new things, such as surfing. Gidget is spirited for the '50s and you'll see her mischievous adventurousness as she tries out social life on the beach. You'll cheer her on and chuckle as she plans her "get the guy" schemes. You'll also find the expression of youthful longing and angst in this movie is superior. END

1-0 out of 5 stars Another Disappointment
I started watching this hoping to see some good, clean teen-age fun. In the first scene, Gidget's friends tell her that she better "make it" before she turns 17. I was pretty shaken by this but I kept watching the movie. In the next scene, Gidget goes to the beach and goes schnoerkeling. She nearly drowns, but a surfer gets a hold of her, sticks her on his surfboard, and then using it as a stretcher surfs her back in. The next day Gidget goes back to the beach to buy a used surfboard and explains that she "surfed" for the first time the day before and that it was like "touching the sky" or something to that effect. This is interesting because she was lying flat on her face looking more dead than alive, and the wave itself was about one foot high. At this point I thought I'd had enough of this nonsense and stopped watching the movie. One other point. People seem to make a big thing out of the "funny" names of some of the characters in this movie (e.g. "Moondoggie" and "Kahoona"). I can't say that this does anything for me. Hope this helps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Its on DVD!
I have found this movie on DVD. Its on Ebay. I love this movie. I am only 19 but I would watch it all the time at my grandmothers house, and its my favorite movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Young again...
I highly recommend this movie for everyone. A clean cut, fun movie that you don't have to worry about due to bad language. I loved this movie when I was growing up so I bought Gidget for my daughter. She had her friends over, teenage boys and girls, and all loved it. In fact the boys kept asking when we were going to watch it again..
Too bad it isn't available on DVD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Acting, Suspense filled, true life drama.......
This project is first rate. Lindsay Wagner gives an Emmy calibur performance as the unexpected heroine in tragic circumstances. The production values are also first rate. It is refreshing to see a hijack story told so vividly and with solid performances from supporting cast, this is a story you will care about. The Flight was nominated for Best TV Movie or Mini-Series, It should have won. Lindsay Wagner deserved an Emmy nomination as well. This is one to view!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of made for television films!
I think this is Lindsay Wagner's finest performance. This film, known also as "The Taking of Flight 847: The Uli Derickson Story", describes the first two days of the TWA hijacking from 1985. The focus is on the heroic actions of the chief flight attendant, who Wagner plays in the movie. The performances in this film, particularly by those playing the hijackers and the crew members are first-rate. While this is not a complete look at the whole hijacking, this film examines what happened while a majority of the passengers were on board before the plane was emptied in Beirut 2 days into the hijacking. This film deserves a five-star rating because of its accuracy, its quality, and the cast's performance. It's probably the best made-for-TV movie I've seen. I highly recommend this film. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Priceless
If you enjoy really, really bad cinema, then you have GOT to check out Message from Nam. I am telling you, this movie is hilarious. I'm not sure if all Danielle Steel stories are this utterly ridiculous, but if so, I AM HOOKED.

For starters, the entire thing has that soft glow that all Hallmark movies have. It's like watching people through a Vaseline filter.

Second, the film features Rue McClanahan (Blanche from The Golden Girls) and Lando himself, Billy Dee Williams. Finally bringing together these two talents in one film, as I am sure you know, makes for some dynamic cinema.

Finally, putting the trashy romance of Danielle Steel up against the backdrop of Vietnam makes for some of the most inappopriate and simultaneously hilarious moments that I can ever recall.

So do yourself a favor--go out and buy Danielle Steel's Message From Nam. I promise you, it is funnier than anything in your current collection.

P.S. To the distributors of this movie--we DEMAND a director's cut with commentary. A film of this magnitude makes it a must.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great saga
This is a wonderful saga in the tradition of North and South. It's got just the right amount of drama and sentimentality, and just the right amount of cheeziness. After I watched it, I went right out and bought a Danielle Steel book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Message from Nam
This movie is my favorite movie of all time. I read the Danielle Steele's book, as always (she's my favorite), but the movie is something I think I could watch every day. I love it. Even though I was only about 8 or 10 when my brother was in Nam for 2 terms, I always respected him. He enlisted, not drafted. I can honestly say that I even respect him more after watching this movie, and its not even based on a true story. I have to buy this video!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Message from Nam Danielle Steel
i thought this movie was great! it was the first time i had seen it and i had never read the book before so i thought it did a good job portraing all the characters. they did a wonderful job with paxton andrews part. i think many people who read danielle steel will enjoy this movie and book.

2-0 out of 5 stars To sad for my taste.

This movie isn't as good as the first "Gidget" but it's better than the third . Ofcoarse, they should have stuck with Sandra Dee in all of them but having Deborah Walley in this one was, I think, a good choice overall .And I've always adored Joby Baker more than James Darren ( whatever happened to Joby ? ) !

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this movie!
I really enjoy this movie no matter how many times I've seen it. Debra Walley is terrific and of course James Darren is great to look at. It's fun and love that Debra Walley made Gidget a fiesty one in this movie. I really like Gidget's clothes also.

5-0 out of 5 stars Psychiatric power against women
This film is extremely important about our vision of women in our world, how women can become instruments or tools for the pleasure of some men who have authority. Here it is the situation of a woman who goes to a psychiatrist for help. This man uses the tremendous power he gets over her, due to the transference she experiences and that is part of the treatment and the guarantee that she may be cured, to force her into sex. This woman is utterly destroyed, or could be utterly destroyed if she did not find a couple of lawyers who are going to help her fight back, and she will win, even if the doctor in his appeal will manage to be exonerated from his crime. That is the second harsh lesson of this film : justice is not always fair and the poweful of this world always manage to get the upper hand. But the battle is enough for this woman to regain her own balance, her own sanity, her own hope that life is after all livable, in spite of that cruelty that can assail us so often.

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC, TRUE TO LIFE STORY.
To the person who wrote the first review...this was in no way a sleazy movie. It was a true depiction of a diabolical self-centered sociopath who killed his wife for greed, and the horrific fall-out.

By the way, this movie also was made with the main character's oldest son on the set as an advisor. Learn your facts.

If you don't like true crime stories, don't waste your money the next time!

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Waste of Time
A bad Rosemary's Baby rip-off. Terrible acting, terrible dialoge, and a terrible plot. Buy this movie only if you enjoy getting a root canal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Alan Alda Sells His Soul Cheap- Right On, Dude!
I am a huge fan of M*A*S*H so when I was flipping through the channels and saw Alan Alda's name in the credits of a movie about satanism, I thought "this is gonna be good." Alda plays a pianist (I love saying that word...hehe) who sells his soul to the devil to become a master of his craft. This is really a cool idea, since traditionally satan has been associated with phenomenal musical talent (just think of the rumors about Led Zeppelin selling their souls to the devil for fame). A lot of really cool stuff happens in The Mephisto Waltz, and there's lots of melodrama and screaming and overacting, and dun-dun-dun....suspense! My favourite part of this movie was the ending. Alan Alda must have been starving, since he looked like he was ready to eat the face off of the chick he was kissing! (I won't say who that chick is; it's a surprise) That's what I call love, satan style! The ony thing I didn't like was all the use of blue light and halluciantion techniques of the Scottish rite. Congrats to the director, though. You earned your middle degrees of freemasonry well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent occult thriller with a surprising end, worth to be seen
This is one of the best occult thrillers ever made. Direction, acting, cinematography and the music score are superb as is the script based on the Fred Mustard Stewart novel with the same title. Curd Juergens plays a famous concert pianst and Barbara Parkins his adoring incestuous daughter. Wanting to make their illicit love eternal they feel compelled to make ritualistic human sacrifices to Satan. The film aided by an excellent Jerry Goldsmith score manages to create an unsettling and more and more threatening atmosphere as the true nature of these two becomes clearer and a journalist played by Alan Alda gets drawn into their web. His wife, played by Jacqueline Bisset, sees the imminent danger in nightmares. These dream sequences that gradually unveil the shocking truth are extremely well filmed and the music enhances the emotional impact even further. This one is a real chiller with some very frightening moments and a very surprising end. Its many disturbing images will haunt you for quite some time. It proves that elegant filmmaking becomes the horror genre very well. I can recommend The Mephisto Waltz unconditionally and hope that it will be released also on DVD someday.

4-0 out of 5 stars Chilling and crafty story; a solid Must See!!
Very interesting tale of one way to solve marital unhappiness. Alan Alda has an interesting character, as played by Alan Alda. But the story's the thing here and how this one unfolds will keep you locked in place to the ironic ending. One of my "see it over and over and still like it" favorites. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Gidget out of the water is still fun
There are two problems with this movie. First, I do not like Cindy Carol as Gidget. I liked Sandra Dee and Deborah Walley a lot better. Second, there is not much surfing. Overlooking those two things, this is still a fun movie. It seems there aways has to be something to come between our favorite couple: Gidget and Moondoggie. And what Gidget movie would be complete without Gidget misreading situations? Gidget goes to Rome with her two gal pals, Moondoggie, and his two friends (Judge from Gidget goes Hawaiian returns). There is a lot of nice footage showing Italian landmarks. Gidget, of course, gets herself in trouble and has a separation from Jeff, played by gorgeous James Darren, but everything turns out for Gidget in the end. Doesn't it?

3-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Gidgets!
This is my favorite and, I think, the best of the Gidget movies. James Darren is still extremely "dreamy" as Moondoggie, and Cindy Carol portrays a more grown-up Gidget. Though Sandra Dee is the very first Gidge, I believe Carol gives her quite a run for her money. Who couldn't love the "Gigetta" theme, and Moondoggie's sonata to Gidget? The fact that I'm an Italian with hopes for visiting Rome just make me love this movie even more! It was lovely!

1-0 out of 5 stars No where near the first Gidget!
This movie was such a dissapointment after watching the first Gidget. The story line is weak and boring.

4-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining
This is a fun movie to watch. Gidget always gets into trouble. This is not one of my favorites, however.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gidgetta, Gidgetta ...
Not as good as the previous two Gidgets ( the first one was the best and it would have been better if Sandra Dee was in all of them but alas ! ) and the whole surf theme was kinda lost in this installment, except in the beginning , but still a fun movie to watch . You have to do a Gidget marathon day !!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding example of sixities televison sci-fi
A great example of TV Sci-fi Americana. Quality scifi drama and special effects for the time period. Brings back some great TV viewing memories. What it lacks in the most modern special effects it more then makes up in the execution of the script. A serious addition to any scifi's collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pilot Episode "Beachhead"
This was the pilot episode of the Invaders known as "The Beachhead". There was a total of 43 episodes over a season and a half 1967-68. I am hopefull that all episodes will be released some day. It was a very well produced series by Quinn Martin.

1-0 out of 5 stars WICH EPISODE IS THIS NO WHERE DOES IT APPEAR
ALL OF THE TAPES OR MOVIES HAVE AN EPISODE TITLE THERE IS NO WAY OF TELLING JUST WHAT IT IS UNLESS YOU OBTAIN A LIST WITH THE RELEASE DATES.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE INVADERS!!! WOW!!! "THEY'RE HERE!!!"
GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY!!! GREAT MUSIC!!! GREAT ACTING!!! GREAT SHOW!!! THE INVADERS starring Roy Thinnes is the best science fiction show I've ever seen! The photography and music was better than on STAR TREK, and the writing was better than on VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA. The only weakness of the series was a lack of purpose, as Roy Thinnes as architect David Vincent spends virtually every episode fighting what seems to be a losing and hopeless battle against the Invaders from another world. THE INVADERS probably would have been better if the series had been planned like its forerunner--also produced by Quinn Martin--THE FUGITIVE, with a beginning and an end.

But this first episode is dynamite! How can you top a show where an architect sees a flying saucer and meets the occupants--who look just like humans!--in the first five minutes, and spends the rest of the hour trying to convince everyone--incluidng his best friend and business partner--that he's telling the truth? The producers used special techniques for the color, incredible music written by Dominic Frontiere--who also wrote the music for THE OUTER LIMITS--and solid actors you've seen for years in Hollywood, to make the best science fiction show I've ever seen.

THE INVADERS!!! WOW!!! "THEY'RE HERE!!!"

4-0 out of 5 stars Mainly on the Plains is tops
The episode "Mainly on the Plains" is one of the best in the series and most literate. I'd love to meet the man face to face just to express my appreciation for his remarkable talents. Hats off to a great acting team of Culp&Cosby... ... Read more
