2-0 out of 5 stars Jaime Pressly is the only feature here
Jaime Pressly is a knockout, but that's about as far as the movie goes for interest. She's a young woman who returns to a home where her mother had an affair with the father of a family when Jaime was a child. Supposedly her mother's life was ruined by the family after the affair was compromised and Jaime holds the family responsible. So she's up to some evil tricks for revenge. It's fairly erotic and Jaime Pressly is worth seeing. Not a lot of difference between the "R" and "Unrated" version (both available on the same DVD). What's hilarious is the "letterbox" mode that only imposes black bands on the upper and lower sections of the screen, there's no actual change in the ratio of the screen, except that the upper and lower sections are covered to create a letterbox format. Best to watch in the full-screen mode.

5-0 out of 5 stars A sexy, fun movie
I was incredibly surprised by this movie. After having endured and zapped countless, boring Cinemax-like erotic thrillers, it was great to see one that is extremely sexy, intelligent, witty and fun. Jaime Pressly is absolutely stunning as the girl out to avenge her mother. Her performance is also outstanding, a great balancing act between being a teenager, a femme fatale, but all this done in a tongue in cheek way. By the way, her nude scenes are jaw dropping.
The movie also has fun with itself, playing with many of the genre's clichés. All in all, a great surprise.
The DVD contains the R-rated and unrated versions, as if anybody would want to see an R-rated version. It contains no extras. It would have been great to have seen behind the scenes footage and interviews with the cast and director. Still, a great buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greg and Jamie
Greg Vaughn was so hot in this movie. His facial expressions and body are great. He doesn't look too hot now on GH, bad casting for character Lucky Spencer :( Jamie is soo hot. She has a great body. In this movie you get to see Jamie and Greg nude!

1-0 out of 5 stars The joke is on me
Picked up a used copy of this DVD and didn't look carefully--I fully assumed I was taking home the original "Poison Ivy" with Drew Barrymore and Sara Edwards. As I now know, this edition of "Poison Ivy" brings the Violet character (lovely Jaime Pressly) into the lives of banker Michael Des Barres (Ivan) and tennis star Megan Edwards (Joy), who's eager to please a hard to please dad. Violet is returning to her childhood home a decade into the future and carries considerable baggage from her past--which is intertwined with the aforementioned characters.

Although the first "Poison Ivy" wasn't exactly "Citizen Kane," it did feature fine performances by Barrymore and Edwards. Not in this bomb, however. There's nothing mysterious whatsoever about this flick--it's clear that Pressly is on her way to seducing and/or killing each member of the family. This is supposed to be an erotic flick, but because there's nothing remotely sexy in Violet's mannerisms and actions, the sex scenes are ice cold. Eventually the maid gets wise to Violet, but it's too late for her. Ditto for Joy's boyfriend (whom Violet has already seduced). Ditto, eventually, for Ivan (whom Violet has already seduced). But what's truly ridiculous is the ending. There's no point in going into it--suffice it to say that it makes no sense whatsoever and completely sinks this wretched film.

There are rabid five-star reviews for this film, and I have no doubt that most of them came from the enjoyment of Jaime Pressly in the buff. I understand--but it is possible, guys, to make good movies with steamy sex scenes. Takes good directing and acting. This has neither.

Oh, yeah--if it's worth anything to you, you can watch both the R-rated version and the unrated version on this DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars DAMN!
I didn't give this movie five stars for Oscar-winning performances. Yes the cast does do an okay job, but Jaime Pressly's flawless body steals the show. Like I said, DAMN! So, if you're looking for a deep, thought-provoking movie look esle-where, but if you wanna see a great T&A flick this is the one. ... Read more

The eternally scantily clad Alyssa Milano (Body Count executive producer as well as star) gives a solid performance as the newest member of a wealthy clan whose constant in-fighting is terminally interrupted by a deadly pack of art thieves determined to add a few more skeletons to the already overstuffed family closet. This well-constructed, dark-edged melding of Die Hard and Peyton Place mostly runs like a dream, despite a few off-putting flashes of lame humor (courtesy of swaggering head killer Ice-T), and a Usual Suspects-inspired ending that, while certainly surprising, doesn't really seem to fit the material. All in all, this is a well-acted, surprisingly artful slice of pulp containing a welcome vein of genuine dread. --Andrew Wright ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a grate action film
This movie was so good. I say this is a must see movie for evreyone especially Millano fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars SEXY THRILLER WITH A KIND OF HEARTFELT VIOLENCE
This movie starts out as a young couple driving to the husband's family's house. When they get there, [Alyssa Milano] immediately finds out that the husband (i forgot his name) is not well appreciated. So they go deep into the basement to talk, and end up making love. While they are having sex, they hear commotion upstairs. They find that everyone upstairs has been killed. Then [Alyssa] soon finds out that....well I can't spoil the movie but it's great despite Alyssa's seemingly massive rash of low-budget movies. (I like her in Charmed on the WB)

2-0 out of 5 stars Excitement? Thrills? Look elsewhere!!
The only thing that saves this movie from putting you to sleep are the 2 main stars, Alyssa Milano & Ice-T. There isn't any storyline that hasn't been done before & as for twists, the only twists in this movie will be your stomach churning from feeling like you've seen this before. ... Read more

A firstfilm so you should'nt expect great anything.Butdefinitely a fun film. It was made and developedwhile Anders was still at the Sundance Institutein 1986,so you can prepare yourself for a cheaptreat, but a good one. 5-0 out of 5 stars An unknown gem of a pic!
This is a movie that has it all, chilling and funny at the same time. These actors make this quirky story work, and after one viewing, you'll want to see it again. It was re-released as "Highway Hitcher" to try to find an audience, but that is not even an apt title for this piece of work. Don't miss this, under either banner!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!
This movie was a pleasant surprise for me. Forsythe dropped his tough-guy image and did a makeover as a milquetoast businessman who innocently picks up a hitchhiker and drives into trouble. This is one of his best, and he's totally believable in the role. Forsythe's one of my favorite actors because he becomes the characters he plays. I will add this movie to my collection. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Henriksen's uncoventional bad guy comes out to play
This is a great who-dun-it with lots of twists and turns. And the man who steals the spotlight is Lance Henriksen (Aliens) with one of his uncoventional scary guy creations. Molly Ringwald (Fresh Horses) and Donal Logue (Dear God) play a couple in hiding in Baha. They are trying to get money from her dad played by Corben Bersen (Major League). They'd had a drug deal go bad earlier and a person was killed. It wasn't until much later that they noticed the strange tourist (Henriksen) hanging around. Then surprising things begin to happen. This is a great movie for Henriksen fans and a great one for those who love a mystery.

3-0 out of 5 stars Flawed but very interesting
There's a goofy charm to this film. It doesn't seem to know what it wants to be, but instead of ending up a mess, it manages to maintain a good pace, a comprehensible storyline and more-than-adequate character development. A good, occasionally noir soundtrack evens the whole thing out nicely. The boys - Lance Henriksen in particular - seem to be having a good time; unfortunately Molly Ringwald doesn't ever seem to catch on, but that's okay 'cause she turns in a reasonable if somewhat lower-key performance than her male co-stars. Flawed but interesting. Absolutely worth the time. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Painfully bad acting!
I bought this DVD actually thinking I was buying a different movie that I loved a few years ago. Besides the disappointment that it wasn't the movie I thought it was. STILL, the acting is just plain BAD. Ice-T was even a terrible actor in this film. And I like Ice-T as an actor! 95% of this film takes place in an abandoned warehouse and just drags on and on. The plot is so simple, how can anyone screw it up? BAD ACTING! Don't waste your time. Unless you have too much time on your hands...

5-0 out of 5 stars More Perry! More Perry!
I'm here today reviewing the Hiest starring one of today's leading action moguls Mr. Luke Perry. Put it up! Yes kids I'm back, they tried to silence old Donny Mac here but I'm here to stay this time. Ok lets get down to business. The Hiest encompesses all the needs of an action movie; Luke Perry, Ice-T, and some others which will remain nameless. Never before have I been so drawn to an action flick since the likes of Death Ring. Perry graced the screen in rare form this time. Never has his washed up, ungroomed self performed on this level. Well he had some amazing moments on 90210, yeah don't act like you don't watch it. If you appreciate Perry's constant whispering, then The Hiest will lay it down for you like never before. Also we were lucky enough to see Ice-T in yet another B classic. This man deserves some kind of recognition from the academy. He's on the cover of almost every new action release in the video store, he's in 90% of all B movies of today. But of course he won't wim an award from the academy. These are the same clowns that have kept Don Swayze and Chad Mcqueen out of the Hollywood "Spotlight." Well no matter how currupt the acedemy is Donny Mac isn't. I'm a give it to you straight. 5 cans of...never mind you people wouldn't get it, so lets say 5 stars for the non stop Perry in The Hiest. Rent it, buy it, do somethin to let Luke know you still care. Well kids Don has to get going now, the bill collector is at the door and I've gotta sneak out the back window. See you real soon, no matter what your friends tell you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly good movie.
Ice T and Luke Perry and David Faustino are in this movie where a money transport truck gets stolen and taken to a warehouse. One of the crooks had 'arranged' an ice-cream truck to transfer the loot in. Everyone is starting to distrust each other. This movie has suspense, action and a couple real funny moments. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A delectable treat
Although the acting is a bit on the amateurish side, this is a fun and enjoyable movie about the struggles of an all-girl rock & roll band. It is smart, clever, and suspenseful, definitely better than most movies like it, especially the more recent Prey for Rock and Roll. If you can get past the shot on video look, which I felt suited the film just fine, this one is is worth seeing. I enjoyed it immensely, but recommend it more to the indie loving crowd. Others might be put off unfortunately.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent movie
Okay -- I'll concede that I noticed the bad acting. In the first scene, there were such bad breaks in the flow of conversation, I thought I was watching a bad porn. But after that I just stopped caring (and it got a little better). I thought the plot was really well-designed. I was gripped to the screen though the whole thing to find out the answer posed in the intro. If you want Hollywood, watch "Josie and the Pussycats."

4-0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
Ok, so the acting isn't the best - it started out pretty bad, but then either 1. it got better or 2. I got used to it and didn't care. This is a fun, entertaining movie. I can see how some people could find this terrible, BUT if you're into low budget, independent movies like myself, you will probably like it. If not, save yourself the hassle and avoid this movie. This is a GREAT low budget rock chick flick with lots of sex, drugs, booze, fights, stereotypical plot...and of course rock and roll! I give it 4 stars out of 5 (only because of the predictible rock cliches and...well, some bad acting).

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible and bad acting
