4-0 out of 5 stars Yeah! Amber Smith...
OK, the only reason I rented this movie (in its unrated version)was to see if Amber Smith would display the goods. She does, to great effect, but I found Laws of Deception to be a fair thriller in the noir genre. The film succeeds mostly due to the presence of former teen movie actor C. Thomas Howell.
Howell's character is the sole survivor of a mob slaying - his mom and dad were killed. He grows up with a thirst for justice and ends up in law school in Miami. His buddy is 90210 alumnus Brian Austin Green. Howell is intent on studying but is ribbed by Green for not being enough of a player. Then Howell is seduced by fellow student Amber Smith. They fall in love.
A chance visit by Howell and Green to a strip joint reveals that Amber is stripping to pay her way through college - or so she says. It turns out the strip joint is owned by the same assassin who murdered Howell's parents 20 years earlier. Does Howell remember his face? Anyway, his relationship with Amber is ruined by his discovery of her seedy side.
Fast forward another four years - Howell is now a successful partner in a Miami law firm. He reluctantly takes his old flame Amber as a client; she's up for the murder of her hubbie - the old assassin. They naturally fall into bed again. But another twist is that Amber is being stalked by Howell's old college buddy Green.
Lies are multiplied, cars are totalled and no-one looks innocent. It all plays into a satisfying finale.
Amber's film career hit a high note with this movie. She showed she actually had acting chops, given a decent script. Unfortunately, her career went downhill after this, with her appearing in dreadful movies only for the sake of her breasts.

4-0 out of 5 stars Action-packed eroticy with an off the wall twist.
"Laws of Deception", starring Amber Smith and Brian Austin Green is a search for the killers of one lawyers parents when he was only six years old. The plot thickens when Amber Smith, an aspiring lawyer/stripper, enters into the main charcters life. As his quest continues, the clues point to one woman, the woman that he loves. This straight-to-video release was a pleasant addition to my movie repertoire. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't Detour around this video!
I won't lie and say this movie was a great movie, but it was worth the money to buy it. I am not sure if this was Travolta's first film that he directed, but he did a decent job. What brought the movie together was the interesting cast. The indestructable Gary Busey, and the scene-stealing Michael Madsen alone make this movie worth watching. If you are a fan of either of these guys, you will not be disappointed. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What part is Navajo?
The acting and theme of this film is fictional and degrading of the culture it is trying to present. I rate this film next to zero because it does nothing but create more typical sterotypes of the Navajo people.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad, just plain bad
At one time, a few years ago, when I thought of Steve Bauer, I'd think of Thief of Hearts. Now, after seeing this, it just gives me shudders. Not only was his acting abdominable, his appearance was awful. Someone (Hollywood guru) help this guy through whatever he is going through!

2-0 out of 5 stars CHEAP - But Irene is Gorgeous
Just like my summary says... this movie reeks of low budget and the poor acting that goes with it. But, if you just want to enjoy Irene Bedrad's beauty for an hour or so... why not... she's in it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A GREAT EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT THRILLER!
IT TOOK MY WATCHING THIS MOVIE TO DISCOVER AJ COOK. SHE IS ONE OF THE MAIN STARS IN THIS FILM. SHE IS POSITIVELY BEAUTIFUL AND SHE HAS TOUCHED A PART OF MY SOUL THAT NO OTHER ACTRESS EVER HAS!
HER SMILE AND HER MANNERISMS REMIND ME OF KELLIE MARTIN, BUT SHE HAS A BEAUTY ALL HER OWN!!
THIS MOVIE IS A GUARANTEED GOOD TIME IF YOU ENJOY GOOD THRILLERS THAT KEEP YOU INTERESTED UNTIL THE VERY END!
ASIDE FROM AJ COOK'S BEAUTY, THIS MOVIE STILL IS VERY GOOD!
I DON'T WANT TO GIVE AWAY THE STORY, SO YOU'LL HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT TO SEE FOR YOURSELF.
I DON'T THINK THAT YOU WILL BE DISSAPOINTED!! ENJOY!
I'M ASSUMING THAT THIS WAS A DIRECT-TO-VIDEO RELEASE, BUT IT'S MUCH BETTER THAN A LOT OF MOVIES RELEASED FOR THEATRICAL EXHIBITION!
THIS IS A NAIL-BITER FROM START TO FINISH AND IT IS SURE TO SATISFY FANS OF THIS GENRE!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars "A little disappointed".
I like horror/suspense movie's, so when I saw this at a video store, the cover looked real exciting, as much do, so I rented it. It's about a new young couple, in their 20's,they just bought their dream home. But the neighbor's next door to them, have secret's that Lori & Tom,(young couple), don't know about, yet. Helen Schmidt, next door neighbor come's over to introduce herself,(Theresa Russell),very friendly, and want's Lori & Tom to come over for Dinner, so they accept. When they are introduced to Carl,(Helen's Husband), Lori see's how mean verbally he is to his wife. To hurry up, the movie was okay, but not worth renting, the plot was already given away on the cover, as Carl might not be who he seem's. Well Lori left Helen in one night cause of Carl hurting her, a few day's later Helen is missing, Lori find's out that Carl has killed more than just his wife. He buried her in the backyard, and the other's. One morning Lori wakes up, to see Carl reading a bedtime story to her in her bedroom, her own house. He sorta threaten's lori, leaves, then with her husband away on a trip, Lori take's it into her own hand's. Carl break's in, & attack's Lori, little did he know, she was waiting for him. After the struggle, Lori finally shot's Carl Dead. And the movie end's there. My opinion, really it's a 1.5*** movie, rent something that you dont know whats going to happen, and pass on this one...~Thank's~ ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Handcuffs and hairpins...
Partners, is a low budget, comedy adventure, that features the odd pairing of Casper Van Dien, with David Paymer. Van Dien is "Axel", a drifting pickpocket and petty thief. Paymer is "Bob", a man who has had enough, and won't take it any more. To prevent his employer from stealing software he developed, Bob has abandoned his wife, and run off, with the program in a briefcase chained to his wrist. He is on board a bus bound for LA, when the opportunistic Axel, lifts the case. Soon the two men are "partners" in the scheme to sell the valuable contents.

After procuring a car, the two set off for LA. There, with the help of Bob's beautiful Japanese girlfriend "Lin" (Seiko Matsuda), they plan to sell the stolen goods to an Asian buyer. After hitting town, they settle in at a motel, and begin to make their moves, doubling the selling price for the goods, at the meeting with the Asians. Axel renews ties with his estranged girlfriend, "Angel" (Vanessa Angel), and leaves the valuable briefcase with her for "safekeeping". A detective (Jennifer Lewis) is also hot on Bob's trail, determined to recover the missing software. With millions at stake, the players scamper to recover the briefcase, arrange an exchange, and then double cross and kill each other. The open-ended finish is interesting, and Bob does prove that he is not a total nerd.

Not great by any means, Joey Travolta's production is on par with a made for TV movie. The comedy isn't "laugh out loud", and the acting won't win any awards, but Partners is still entertaining, as the offbeat Van Dien/Paymer pairing, works just well enough. There is brief nudity, but not of the "angelic" variety. This little adventure, with some light comedy thrown in, is worth at least rental consideration. This feature does not have subtitles.

4-0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly good
This movie could have been awful. Some things about it are, kind of - some of the acting is wobbly, some of the pacing is a little slow. But it's unexpectedly funny, with a great starring role for David Paymer (a brilliant actor who's spent his entire career playing sidekicks and minor characters). There's some real chemistry between him and Casper van D., and the script is genuinely clever. Starts out very amusingly, and about thirty twists, turns and reverses later, it ends with a final reverse I did NOT see coming. Not art, but a great guilty pleasure. Compared to your average straight-to-video feature: way more intelligent character interaction, way less of the usual by-the-numbers, been-there-done-that kind of thing. Take a chance, it's cheap.

4-0 out of 5 stars Casper does it again
Ever since Starship Troopers, this hot guy still seems to manage a good movie here and there. This is fortunately one of those unexpected good movies. In an action/comedy, Mr Van Dien seems to adjust to his role as a drifter quite well, opposite his on-screen partner. He drops his pants again for the camera, reminiscent of Starship Troopers, so girls and guys can drool once again. But aside from the eye candy (including Casper in jeans a tight singlet throughout - costume department must have had fun), the script is also very funny and enjoyable, for a reasonably lower budget movie. At the end of the day, Partners will not win any major academy awards, but is enjoyable movie around 85 mins.

2-0 out of 5 stars Partner's makes for reasonable viewing
Action-man Casper Van Dien and Comedy-man Casper Van Dien team up for this moderately funny comedy-adventure, directed by Joey Travolta (yep, that's John's Brother).
Bob (Paymer) is a confused man. The one thing he has going for him is a computer program that he plans to sell to the highest bidder. Before he can even get to the buyer though, a street smart drifter (Van Dien) knocks it off - only to discover that he's not going to get pay dirt without Bob. They team up.
Unbeknown to Bob, the 'potential girlfriend' who has helped him find a buyer for his computer program doesn't exactly half his best interests at heart; the same goes for Van Dien's character's girlfriend, whose one-tracked mind revolved around the green stuff.
Plenty of double crossing, madcap moments and cheesy one-liners in this surprisingly chuckle-worthy film. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Hard Vice is not so nice.
Hard Vice (also known as Vegas Vice)is a cheap direct to video affair that is about cops chasing down a hooker who kills her customers. Now vice cops Sam Jones (whom you might remember from the Flash Gordon film) and Shannon Tweed are called to the case. Very cheesy and low budget making you feel that you just wasted your time. You can thank director/producer/writer Joey Travolta for making this garbage a reality.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bait and Switch
Watching this movie reminded me of the great line from the Tom Hanks movie "Bachelor Party": 'Normally, I don't like my filth this clean.' There is only one reason to watch a Shannon Tweed movie and it isn't here. Normally, I wouldn't complain--you pay your money and take your chances. But this movie is a flat out violation of truth in advertising. It's billed as a R rated movie on amazon, on the cover for the disk, and even stamped on the dvd itself. But as soon as you play it you're told that it is PG. And, boy, does it ever deserve it's PG rating. I've seen more skin in documentaries on the Amish. If you're one of those rare birds who'd watch a Tweed movie for the plot, forget it--it's not good enough to keep an insomniac awake nor is it bad enough for camp. If you need a movie to get rid of unwanted guests, this might do the trick. But, if you want to see Shannon in all or even some of her glory, look elsewhere.

2-0 out of 5 stars "Damn girl, what happened?"
Hard Vice, an engrossing and sweeping film of Las Vegas nightlife, boasts a stellar cast and fine screenplay, but a poor and convoluted plot. With great lines such as "Damn girl, what'd ya do in that bathroom?", this film wastes its immense potential. Shannon Tweed shines in this quasi-hot flick as a homicide detective. Her fine supporting castmates do their best to bring nuance to their scandalously underdeveloped characters, but overall this film is only average. The biggest mistake in this film is wasting the fine potentiality of scenes in the stunning Maxim and Arizona Charlie's Hotels in Vegas. Still, worth watching with your mother or grandparent.

3-0 out of 5 stars -Good- Vegas sexploitation, cops & call-girls, piece.

1-0 out of 5 stars Just 'Dumb'
This movie was so dumb, even the guy who wrote the synopsis on the back of the package didn't watch it. It came as a freebie with my DVD player and I still feel cheated. ...

Vegas vice cops, Joe Owens (Sam Jones) and Andrea Thompson (Shannon Tweed), blow open the world of high priced call girls who become the prime suspects in a brutal string of murders. END ...

If you are a fan of either of these guys, you will not be disappointed. ... Read more
