The Best Version of Cinderella w/ some good butt kicking
Drew Barrymore plays Cinderella as never seen before. With a quick wit,brains,looks, and the willingness to kick alittle "step-sisterly bootie" , she wins over the heart of a handsome prince, played by Dougrey Scott. The story alters more with the help of a step-sister who in the end makes you love her as much as Cinderella. Also, you have a wonderful cast who brings this to life, altering a "fairy-godmother" to a "fairy-godfather" with the help of famous artist Leonardo. You will laugh and cheer as you let yourself be pulled into this wonderful story of love, comedy, and "just rewards".

A realistic version of the timeless fairy tale
In this more realistic version of Cinderella, Drew Barrymore plays Gabrielle, a pretty farm girl who's strength and courage(not prince charming) save her from a bleak future. In order to save one of the house servants, Gabrielle passes herself off as a courtier and confronts one of the King's men. Amidst this confrontation, Prince Henry shows up and is impressed by Gabrielle's guts, intelligence, and beauty. Smitten by the Prince herself, Gabrielle lies to him about who she really is.
But Gabrielle's stepmother (Angelica Huston) is determined to have the prince marry one of her daughters and she'll do whatever it takes to get Gabrielle out of the way. Highly recommended for its romance, humor, and suspense.

great family viewing
Drew Barrymore has this charm about her on screen, whether it's in ET as a pretty little girl, or as a beautiful young woman in this Cinderella story that will captivate your heart and senses. This is fairytale but believable because human nature is always the same whether it's fantasy or reality; and it's romantic but very tasteful. And I'm sure many will be pleased with the happy ending :)

Excellent movie!!!!
This is one of my favorite movies of all time! Of course, as its known by the title the story is based on the Cinderella fairy tale, but in this movie the heroine is smart and strong, yet vunerable at the same time. Drew Barrymore is great and Angelica Houston is just wondrously wicked as the evil step- mother. This movie is recomended to every woman!!!

These first two episodes of the charming and perceptive series The Wonder Years are an appropriate setup for the uninitiated and a must-have for fans. You'll look back with Wonder too!
You can't help but interject yourself Kevin's life. He is so relatable. Also with the narration it makes us think of our own glory days of youth and the important people in our lives. The first kiss. First experience with someone dying. The intrigue of sex ed. Our best friend and knowing everything about that person. Nagging brother or sister. Fighting parents who loved each other and us. The popular music that defined the era we grew up in. I'm sure there are special songs that conjure up powerful images from your past just as the special songs from the Wonder Years does the same for each episode.

With the narration of the young Kevin and the 60s setting it reminds me of the movie Christmas Story. The Messy Marvin actor and the narration of his thoughts/dreams of the Red Ryder bb gun. Another classic! But I digres . . .

You have to see this first volume of Wonder Years! It will tug at your heart strings again! You won't be disappointed!

Kevin, Paul and Winnie start Junior High in the Fall of 1968
Kevin Arnold, Homer Simpson and I all graduated from high school in the same year. But when we first meet Kevin, Paul and Winnie as they are heading for their first day of school at the newly renamed Robert F. Kennedy Junior High School in the Fall of 1968. "The Original Pilot" (January 31, 1988) aired after the Super Bowl that year, guaranteeing itself a big audience. What they saw was Kevin (Fred Savage) having a hard time at school. His best friend Paul (Josh Saviano) is no help, his older brother Wayne (Jason Hervey) is out to get him, and Winnie Cooper (Danica McKellar), the tomboy down the street is now wearing go-go boots and inducing major hormonal problems. So Kevin immediately finds himself in trouble with the assistant principal, forcing his mom (Alley Mills) and dad (Dan Lauria) to come down and pick him up. However, when they drag Kevin home to be punished, his sister Karen (Olivia D'Abo) has some horrible news that makes everything moot. The ending of this first-rate pilot episode is a most bittersweet moment between Kevin and Winnie. Things are back to as normal as like got for young teenagers in the late Sixties in "Swinger" (March 29, 1988), where Kevin and Paul's Phys. Ed. teacher has started teaching Sex Education. Do you remember "Our Body, Ourselves"? Both of these episodes were written by Neal Marlens & Carol Black. Interesting footnote: The pilot episode was directed by Steve Miner, who got his start doing a couple of "Friday the 13th" films. In a lot of ways I think "The Wonder Years" was the "Leave It To Beaver" of its day, even if it was set twenty years in the past (when it first aired), with the key difference being Winnie. Beaver never had a girl friend like Winnie and it is their relationship, which goes from puppy love to teenage infatuation to something more lasting, is at the heart of "The Wonder Years." Also, before there was "Forrest Gump" it was this television show that made use of the music that was the soundtrack for our lives.

this program brought back alot of menmories for my hubby ,and me we too grew up in the sixties and seventies would like to see more programs like that instead of these other court shows too many serious on them

Only for the die-hard fan
As a devoted fan of the Wonder Years, I must say that I was disappointed in this video collection. Not only is the quality poor (fading in and out, scratchiness, etc.) but there are only two episodes per video (on this one and on vol. 1). I appreciate the early episodes, but they definitely made a mistake by passing up some of the gems of the later seasons ("The Lake"/cara episode, "Goodbye", anything with Becky Slater...and of course, the 2-part series finale). Unless you're desperate and this is truly your only option, I would recommend holding out until something better comes along.

My review
The episodes on this video both really make you think. Not only are they both amusing, they also capture your heart. "My Father's Office" is a father-son episode, in which Kevin goes to work with his father and uncovers a few mysteries of the life of his father. He learns a few reasons why his father is the way he is. "Angel" is a funnier episode than the first, but it still manages to have a moral at the end and make you think. In it Karen, Kevin's older sister, has a new boyfriend, that Kevin discovers is cheating on her and Kevin tries to find ways to get rid of him. So if you're a Wonder Years fan, I reccommend you add this great video to your collection!

A fabulous trip down memory lane!
The Wonder Years is a show about innocence in a time not so innocent. The naration parallel to the beautiful script and hilarious acting, make the trip down memory lane a lot easier to swallow. Which, I assume, is it's initiative. As for these two episodes, the first is a must see. For those who had a father figure, this is a must see. It may make you want to reconsider the relationship with your son, or daughter. The other episode is another classic in a very classy t.v. show that will hopefully teach you as much as it has taught me about myself and my past. ... Read more

A crowd pleasin' romantic comedy with a Reese Witherspoon happy ending. This was the best slice of bologna cake I've had in weeks. I liked the storyline of the film, it involves a young woman named Melony (Reese) who is ready to get married for a second time. Problem is she's gotta get divorced from her first husband. For that to happen she must leave her new life in New York and return to her old life in Alabama, where her husband remains. Besides Mrs. Witherspoon the film stars Josh Lucas (Reese's husband), Patrick Dempsey (Reese's husband to be), Fred Ward (Reese's daddy), Mary Kay Place (Reese's mom), Ethan Embry (Reese's friend Bobby Ray), & Candice Bergen (Partick's mom). One of the funniest lines in the movie is when up-tight Candice tells southern Mary Kay to go back to her double-wide and fry something. SWEET HOME ALABAMA is a delightful little movie that can be enjoyed by couples or single Reese fans like myself. Desert flavor and so romantic!
If you mix comedy, drama and love with two great actors and a perfect script, what you end up with is a memorable movie. This is a beautiful story, which starts off wrong. Alex Whitman (Matthew Perry) and Isabel Fuentes (Salma Hayek) are destined to meet and when they do, things go in a direction they never imagined.

Isabel brings the drama to this movie. Alex brings the comedy. Their families from different cultures bring in a touch of conflict. The expectations of each family are so typical and set in motion a number of unexpected twists and turns to the plot.

The music in this movie does deserve its own soundtrack. I have looked for it. Even after watching this movie for the third time, I still want a CD. The music sets the mood for the whole movie. The setting at the Hoover Dam is also spectacular as are many of the outdoor scenes in the desert.

Salma Hayek is at her best in this movie, as is Mathew Perry. There is such great chemistry. The signs all definitely point towards them being together. Unfortunately, they both have to deal with relationships they had in the past, annoying relatives and Alex's controlling boss.

This movie shows how love can conquer any situation and cross all barriers. Each time you watch this movie it will affect you differently. When you see Alex holding a baby and Isabel looking across the room at him, you can't help but become Isabel for that brief instant. Alex says so many of the right things, any woman would want to hear. Then, Alex also makes the mistake of not telling Isabel pertinent details which will affect her life, and that is the basis for most of the conflicts.

Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek were the best actors for this movie! It is so romantic, you will want to watch it once every few years. Absolutely a worthwhile investment to purchase the video or DVD. Now, if anyone can find a soundtrack CD, let us all know!!!

!A Man, A Woman And A Chihuahua. Ay caramba!
After seeing "Fools Rush In", I definitely feel the above caption would make for a better title. But, nonetheless, this is one of those romantic love stories with a touch of comedy and a whole lot of drama, like a soap opera, but only better. The plot centers around a consultant of an architectural firm, Alex (Matthew Perry), who, by fate, meets a single Mexican woman named Isabel (Salma Hayek). After spending the night together, Isabel becomes pregnant with Alex's child, but is quite shocked about the news at first, and isn't sure whether or not she wants to continue their relationship. As time progresses, the couple get to know each other better and Isabel introduces Alex to her family, the Fuenteses (including an angry chihuahua named Che, who, at first, displays an intense dislike for Alex, but softens up to him later), and, likewise, Isabel later meets Alex's parents. At first, their parents don't agree with the idea of Alex and Isabel going steady, because of the cultural differences of both families. But what the heck, it all makes for a very interesting, and rather potent, love story. In fact, it is a love story (as mentioned above)! Rather than saying anything further, I suggest you pick up a copy of "Fools Rush In". The chihuahua alone is worth the price of this movie! Cute, Sweet, thoughful romantic comedy
I thought this was such a cute movie! It shows that sometimes opposites do attract! During one seen, Salma talks to Matthew about their differences and the prejudices that both families have with each other while telling a story. This is something that every body will love, including guys!!

An Excellent Movie
I love this movie. It has become my all-time favorite love story. Very well done!

Charming story but left me with a question.
This is one of the most charming "chick-flicks" because of the sweetness of Salma Hayek's character. Matthew Perry brings the humor. The music is very uplifting. Many of the songs can also be found on a CD called "Ultra-Lounge Volume 5". The two characters start their relationship physically first, then try to fall in love later. Along the way, they question what is meant to be. They encounter each other's families and friends and explore their likes and dislikes and the result is comical and endearing. What I am wondering is for those who are not happily married, does this movie encourage a physical relationship outside of marriage? I have seen the movie but still am not sure. On the surface, it seems like it doesn't. But what would be the end result of watching this - would a person be more or less likely to start a relationship physically? With the ending the way it was, it might make some younger viewers think true love might happen that way and end up leaving them with heartache. I'd like to hear more reviews on this aspect. ... This first theatrical outing for the ubiquitous Olsen twins is their take on The Parent Trap meets The Prince and the Pauper. A fun family movie
Amanda lives in an orphanage where her only real friend is her social worker. Alyssa is the only child of a multi-millionaire. But one summer, they meet by accident and hatch a daring plan. They switch places and try to get Amanda's social worker and Alyssa's dad to fall in love before he marries an awful woman. But when the fiancée figures out what's going on, can the girls pull it off?

Granted, this movie is a variation of The Parent Trap. And while there were a few unexpected twists, there really isn't anything new to the plot. But the movie is incredibly fun. The first time I saw it I laughed so hard it hurt, and I was in college at the time. The movie creates humor from the premise, sometimes setting up jokes well ahead of the punch line. The Olsens do a good job with the acting. It's fun watching them basically play each other. The adults do a fabulous job with their rolls, making it easy to get lost in this world.

I have shared this movie with many friends since I first saw it, and they all enjoyed it. I highly recommend this entertaining film.

Fun, fun, fun!
This is my favorite Olsen Twins movie, and I'm an adult who can honestly say she enjoys it. I grew up on Full House and have always loved watching those two. They've done a lot of movies, and this one is my favorite. Supported by the charming Steve Guttenberg, the extremely funny Kirstie Alley, and a supporting cast that includes Philip Bosco as the sly and smart butler and Jane Sibbett as Clarice, the snooty, evil-plotting fiance of Guttenberg's character, this movie is sure to please any fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley. So the story goes kind of like this: look-alikes Amanda and Alyssa (Mary-Kate and Ashley, respectively) literally bump into each other while at a summer camp (that Amanda's a camper at and that Alyssa's extremely rich father happens to own). Once the two realize how closely they resemble each other, they hatch a plan to get Alyssa's single dad and Amanda's pretty caseworker romantically involved. Will they succeed, amidst foodfights, canoes falling over, and the interference of the conniving Clarice? This is a fun movie from beginning to end, with lots of visual treats (Andy Tennant Films--Fools Rush In, Ever After, etc.--always seem to have beautiful scenery), funny dialogue, and fantastic characters. There's exactly one slightly objectionable word (spoken by one of the Olsens), but I think only very conservative parents will have a problem with it. This movie is part Parent Trap, part Three Men And A Little Lady, and . . . basically just a really cute movie.

Double Your Viewing Pleasure With The Olsen TwinS :)
Even though i am NOT one for remakes.And this is a remake of the
classic Disney movie "The Parent Trap" but underneath a different name.This is one remake that is even better the original.The Olsen Twins are these days' Shirley Temple.Both on screen and the way they conduct themselves.We have gotten to meet them and trust me they are the same in real life.We been fans of the TwinS since fuLL house days.I only have to warn parents of one thing in this movie that Mary-Kate does suprise the viewer with the use of a somewhat "dirty word".I would tell you what it is but it would most likely not get posted.Its P*SSED.Ok from that you can tell.
If you don't want your kids hearing that then stay away.But remember they hear that and worse then that in school and can't stop them from going to school.But most importantly the TwinS deliver in this movie.We have been blessed now with 18 years of their sweetness and talent.We wish them all the best they deserve all that they got.And when child stars turn out as they did that is more then an achievement.Don't miss this movie.And as for the Twins this is their best and that is saying a lot.Sit back relax and laugh and enjoy and double your viewing pleasure with the Olsen TwinS : Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen......

The Movie isn't half bad. Kids will like it, but adults might be annoyed. To be perfectly honest, Ashley's acting is forced and very annoying at times; she sounds like she's trying to have a British accent, but fails.. Mary-Kate does a fine job. It's really hard to believe that Steve Gutenburg would pick Kirstie Alley over his fiance, too.
If you really like the Olsen Twins, then you'll like this movie. If you aren't, then don't go into this movie with high hopes.

Charming!
I'm not a hardcore Mary-Kate and Ashley fan but I'm not one of their haters and I actually like them, have liked them ever since Full House. I think It Takes Two is a sweet charming movie and I agree that it's like The Parent Trap meets The Prince and the Pauper and I'm surprised that not many people seem to have noticed The Prince and the Pauper angle of this story. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were pretty good and Steve Guttenberg and Kirstie Alley were good too and fans of the NBC sitcom friends will notice Jane Sibbet as Steve Guttenberg's nasty fiance. She plays Ross's first ex-wife on Friends. I would like for me and my family to have this charmer on DVD but Amazon doesn't list what the aspect ratio is and from experience I have found that usually means the DVD is edited into a pan and scanned format and I would rather have widescreen. ... William Petersen
This movie is very choppy- may different things going on-hard to figure out the point--although William Petersen is as sexy and handsome as on CSI- only younger-- what expression's he has on his beautiful face- can't quite figure out WHY? he never made a BIG film-like Tom Cruise-he's every bit as good- & so georgeous to look at-what a face--YUM-YUM

For die-hard fans ONLY and maybe not even then
Other reviewers make it clear that the only possible audience for this oddball made-for-TV-movie would be die-hard William L. Petersen fans.

I am actually a fan of the Thomas McGuane novel this was based on, and so I am badly disappointed. It's a very lame adaptation. From the obvious commercial "breaks", this was made for television and has low quality production values. Although the credits state it was filmed in Montana (and I am sure it really was), it looks for all the world like it could have been filmed any place (Canada, the Midwest, etc.). No artistry is employed to show the beautiful Big Sky country or vistas normally associated with Montana. (Think of the beautiful film "A River Runs Through It" to get what I mean.)

There are large bits and pieces of the novel here, but cut up and re-arranged so it hardly makes any sense. Also the novel is very quirky, witty and humorous, so it's odd to see it adapted as a straight up melodrama. Characters like Joe's overbearing Cuban girlfriend Astrid are supposedly to be FUNNY, not sorrowful and depressing. (Just the idea of a Cuban girlfriend with a Scandanavian name is pretty hilarious.)

Additionally, the character of Joe Starling is supposed to be a womanizing loser, a washed up artist who can't keep his pants zipped and therefore is in nearly constant hot water with the women in his life. The book is very sexy, probably too graphic for a TV movie, but they could have done a lot with the overall erotic charge the novel has, given that the actresses (Rachel Ticotin and Lolita Davidovitch) are quite attractive. Instead it's a drawn out, somber soap opera with devoid of sexiness, style, humor or even a sense of place.

The video jacket is misleading, with a big picture of Jack Palance and western type lettering, implying this will be a cowboy picture along the lines of "City Slickers", which is most certainly is not. Pass this one up. I got in the clearance bin for $1.99 and way overpaid.

I thought this movie was just wonderful.William L Petersen carries this roll well it was well suited for him.It was interesting to watch because just when you thought you had it figured out what was gonna happen it went the other way.If you are a William Petersen fan then you must watch this....I give the movie 5 stars for talent,and great storyline

If your a William Petersen fan then this movie is a must. William plays Joe Starling who is (darling). Deciding to re-evaluate his life, he heads back to his hometown and takes over his ranch. The Wonder Years is the best T.V. show ever created!
Wow! This tape would make an excellent gift for all Wonder Years fans! In the first episode, sweet 12-year-old Kevin Arnold is trying to find a present for his girlfriend Winnie and at the same time, the whole Arnold household is hoping Jack, the father will buy them a color t.v. for Christmas. In the end, Kevin learns that Christmas is more than presents and is about the memories and special moments in life. In the second episode, Kevin is older (sixteen-years-old) and is trying to find the perfect present for Winnie again. After the family, suffers a financial blow because Jack's partner decides to not invest in the furniture company, the holiday spirit is again being tested. I enjoyed the tapes so much and I watch them over and over. Definately a good tape.

Poor Tape Quality
The story was excellent, but the tape quality was awful. It looked like somebody taped it at home off their VCR. I was beginning to think it was bootlegged.

The Most Touching and Heartwarming Show I have ever seen
When I first saw an episode of the Wonder Years, I didn't connect with it much. I thought it was a show for kids, one that didn't have much bearing on me. As I watched it more, especially on Nick at Nite when there was nothing else on, I began to realize that this show was unique. Not only did it appeal to younger audiences with its light-hearted humor, but that it even appealed to middle to late teenagers like me, with its displays of Kevin's relationships, his feelings, and his growth as a person. This show deals with practically every difficulty that adolescents must face, from strange parents to changing friends. It is rare that a show has actually been able to reach out and touch my heart, but it seems that this show is able to do it whenever I watch it. My only wish was that they had the entire series available, so that I could watch it from start to finish.

An Extraordinary Experience
I found this movie to be BRILLIANT! Jodie Foster is outstanding in the role of Anna Leonowens - she is a beautiful mix of bravery, intelligence and Victorian elegance. Chow Yun-Fat is also outstanding in the role of King Mongkut - he emits a regal quality as well that of compassion and intelligence. The cinematography is out of this world and the directing exquisite. The dialogue is perfect, and it strikes just the right chord of polished writing. The musical score is breathtaking. The lush scenery and thick emotion is set to elegant, strong, and graceful music. It is forceful when it need be and then fades quietly into the background... at times supporting a scene with gentle rolling waves of ear pleasure. Oh and the costumes! They are completely amazing, and startling in their detail. From the majestic elephants to the smallest noble they are all cloaked in carefully chosen fabrics.

This movie in all its entirety affected me very deeply. The intense emotions of the characters are so expertly performed and directed that they feel incredibly real. These emotions, which course through "Anna and the King," create a moving, exciting, and anticipatory experience. I am very grateful to all of those involved in the making of "Anna and the King" for producing such a beautiful and extraordinary film. Anyone who is contemplating viewing this movie... do it. I only hope that you, too will have the pleasure of being able to fully indulge in this feast for the senses.

A true outstanding epic movie.....
This is a true outstanding epic movie. I'm really surprised why it wasn't hailed as greatly as it should have been. I personally hail it as one of the greatest movies of all time, a true classic in every sense. I've seen it totally ignorant of all the versions that preceded it and I've loved it with the very first few lines "She came unaware of all the suspicion that preceded her" " the first English woman I have seen". This story of two unconventional people in conventional times with all its historical facts and lush gorgeous background is capable of sweeping one's off his feet making him feel all that cultural and emotional struggle that Anna and the King seem to go through. Jodie Foster was lovely and extraordinary although I used to think that she is too modern-looking for such movies...I guess I was gravely mistaken. I think the movie's real surprise is Chow Yun-Fat who was truly amazing. He seems to be so much at home with all this kingly charm. He has such grace and overwhelming presence that would make him probably one of the most remembered kings on the screen. I can't help wondering if the original king was as charming as he was....and wouldn't be nice if all kings were like that? We would surly love them. And what of the palace? Do I dare and say more? I was totally amazed to know that they've built a replica of the original one...wow! I envy Jodie and Chow for being in such lofty surroundings. I think I would write a book if I were to describe everything I loved in this movie...but I must take my hat off to Andy Tennant for making such a masterpiece and for all the designers. Of course, I must not forget the movie's music and photography and the beautiful script that seems to linger in the mind forever for I would always remember that "when a woman has so much to say and doesn't say it. Her silence can be deafening.".

Simply a delightful story
After losing her husband in the jungle of India, Anna Leonowens embarks in a journey that will take her to Siam, where she will tutor the oldest son of King Mongkut. Her son, Louis, and two Hindu servants accompany her in this new endeavor. As soon as Anna sets foot in Bangkok, the difference between cultures surges as a predominant element that will remain present throughout the story. Even though the start is rocky, with Anna being called "Sir" for misogynist reasons and not being given the house she was promised but accommodation in the palace instead, the king discovers quickly the value of this woman that acts very different from what he is used to. That is why he decides that instead of tutoring his oldest son, she will be in charge of teaching all of his children...all 58 of them!

The movie evolves around three clear themes. First, the clash of cultures, which is enlightening and entertaining and as the movie evolves so does the acceptance and admiration each of the characters show for the positive points of the other's culture. Second, the relationship between Anna and the king, which starts as annoyance, moves to respect and continues developing from there. Third, the political atmosphere, which is characterized by attacks to Siamese people by Burmese armies, suspected to be supported by no other than the British Empire (the events unfold in 1862).

Although the movie is rather long, the events unfold at a pace that keeps the viewer interested at all times. The music fits the mood of the action perfectly well, and in the proper scenes it is so uplifting that it steals the attention of the viewer. Jodie Foster delivers a well-rounded role, but in my opinion the performance of Chow Yun-Fat is at a higher level. Finally, the scenery and the palaces where the movie develops are absolutely amazing.

Overall this is a highly enjoyable movie that will leave you thinking for a while about how every culture has its positive aspects and how, with a little patience, everyone can learn to appreciate this.

Had to watch for a school project...
I thought that this film was very beautiful in content...this film had some real substance to it, and the actors did an excellent job in the portrayal of the characters involved...lovely story.....

Absolutely classic
This is one of my favorite movies ever, it can be compared only to Gone With The Wind. It may be not historically accurate but nor was GWTW and it is still a classic. I love every part of it -- the portrayal of the two different cultures as equals, the love story, the beautiful scenery. I've seen it 4 times in the cinema even though I usually watch a movie twice, when it's in cinema and when it comes out in video.
I don't understand why this film wasn't a great success but I don't mind, at least we won't get three awful sequels and two TV shows based on it.

Best Show!
This is the Best Show to ever come out in the Wonder Years collection.I really liked it and I couldn't stop watching it.It's the best show on Nickelodeon,in my opinion.I loved the video.

Good, slightly twee sometimes, and...
The script of the series is good and the actors did a great job. However, I just "wonder" what happened to Fred Savage during the years spent on the making of the series. Did he grow up normally, as we were watching him, in this sort of Truman's show? Of course, we did not watch his real life but we did watched him all the same. It would be a relief to know if he does not hate this series now.

The most unforgettable and best t.v. show ever!!!
This show is most definately the best show ever made! I love THE WONDER YEARS! I'm trying to collect all the episodes. Kevin Arnold is just like me in so many ways. He's so hilarious and sweet. Each episode is unforgettable and makes you laugh or cry...

Poor Tape Quality
The story was excellent, but the tape quality was awful. It appeared as if someone taped it at home on their VCR using ELP speed. I was beginning to think it was bootlegged.

Absolutely Brilliant
I have never really liked Drew Barrymore but after this movie I fell in love. I can't think of anyone else better to play Danielle,(cinderella). I had never heard of Dougray Scott before but he was a totally awesome Prince Henry,(prince charming). He was extremely handsome, witty and he always knew what to say, a very smooth talker. Angelica Houston was the most perfect Step-mother. She brings her character to life so well. All of the characters were so believable that you couldn't help but feel what they were feeling. I cannot think of another movie that kept me smiling through the whole entire time. There are a few scenes where I wanted to cry but other than that I was smiling. I especially loved the scenery and costumes. They were so real and I felt like I was there with them. I often wish I lived in the 16th century just so I could wear those clothes. From the moment I turned the movie on I was enraptured in the story. There wasn't a minute where I was bored or lost. I loved every minute of it. I like how they had one mean step-sister and one nice step-sister. They both played their parts extremely well. I loved how Leonardo DiVinchi was kind of like the "fairy god-mother". Drew and Dougary had such a great chemistry it was hard not to fall in love with them too. My favorite part was when Leonardo DiVinchi was walking on the water and saw Danielle and said "looks like rain". That was so funny. There is something for almost everyone in this movie. There is romance, action, drama, comedy and lots more. It was wonderful that Drew was a very strong willed, hopeful, passionate young woman. She never gave up and always looked for the best in things, even her family. She really wasn't the one who needed to be rescued. Dougray was so hansome you couldn't help being drawn to him. I think it was fantastic how Prince Henry rejected Danielle when he found out who she really was and then came to his senses and realized that he couldn' live without her. It was definitely a romantic movie. I have seen it over 10 times and never tire of it.. I learn something new every time. I think we all want a love like this, a true love which nothing can break. If you watch this movie I am positive that you will fall in love with everything about it, especially characters, just as I have.

Deconstructýon of a Fairy Tale
Ever after is an impressive attempt at historicising and deconstructing a fairy tale. The novel, unlike the fairy tale, placed events in a historical context. It is France in the Sixteenth Century. More over, the Cinderella of the fairy tale is beautiful, fragile, dependant on the supernatural (magic), and a highly sentimental female; whereas the new Cinderella is every thing feminists want to see in a woman: she is smart, hardworking, has guts, and independent. I loved the scene when Prince Henry towards the end comes dashing to save her from her captor to be faced by a defiant disarrayed woman with dirty nails and dirt smeared face saying "I saved myself" thus rescinding the conventional tale and emptying it of all its male-superiority claims. The part where she rescues the Prince from the king of Gipsies and carries him on her shoulder says it all. Ever after is a film I would love to show to my students.

The Most Amazing Cinderella Story Ever!
Cinderella always has been my favourite fairytale. But this movie is classy and features an incredible cast. Drew Barrymore couldn't be more perfect for her role as Danielle. Anjelica Huston is FANtastic as the evil-stepmother. Dougray Scott is somewhat of a hottie, and he and Drew make the sweetest on-screen couple! Leonardo Da Vinci is the funny, witty, 'fairy godfather' inventor, who also turns out to be a matchmaker. The two stepsisters are a necessity, one kind-hearted but gut-less, the other as evil as her mother.
The story is beautifully written. Danielle is forced to sleep with the pigs, but her character is beautiful. Independent, intelligent, spirited, beautiful (inside and out), and kind, her will to overcome her scheming step-mother and stepsister Margheurite is mind-blowing.
This movie is an incredible experience, one movie I will never forget as the perfect, classy Cinderella story!
The version with Whoopie Goldberg and Brandy is ugh!

no fairy tales or pixie dust
At first when I saw they were making this movie I was intrigued, but also skeptical, about this new twist on Perrault's Cinderella, this time starring Drew Barrymore. Well, Cinderella is my second favourite fairy tale, so I should probably force myself to sit through it for that reason alone. Barrymore's also not that bad of an actress, not the best, but hey not the worst. Then I notice Anjelica Huston is in it also, and hey I really like her so why not go and see it?

Well eventually I completely forgot about the movie, never did get around to seeing it in theatres. Then while surfing through the channels on my TV I see a commercial for the movie being shown on some station and I'm intrigued all over again. So I tune in to see the movie, and wow, I was not expecting this movie to be as great as it was.

This is not Disney's version of Cinderella, not by a long shot, so if that's what you're looking for in your tale of Cinderella I suggest you search elsewhere. Instead of the pixie dust and fairy tails you get the legend of Cinderella, the supposedly true story which the fairy tales were later based off of. The movie opens with the brothers Grimm arriving at a castle in France invited there by an again woman who wishes to tell them the true story of Cinderella without the magical pumpkins or a faery godmother. I'll spare you all the details of the film which every other reviewer has already gone through. I will however tell you that the performance is average from Drew Barrymore, no fireworks with her acting here, just the way she usually is, which isn't that bad but she's not going to be winning an Oscar anytime soon I promise you that. Anjelica Huston was amazing and easily stole the movie away from Barrymore, she was simply delicious as an Evil Stepmother, the role fit her like a glove. Perhaps my favourite role in the film was of Pierre le Pieu played by Richard O'Brien more widely known as Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I nearly fell off of my seat the first time I saw this movie and he first appeared!

You'll not be disappointed at all by this movie if you decide to take the time to sit and watch this movie. It is however a "chick-flick" if you haven't already noticed so considered yourself warned. It's not quite as bad as most of them, but it has the makings to make most men wish to rip their hair out at having to even think about watching this movie.

Cinerella in a New Light
This past weekend I had the pleasure of seeing one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I am speaking of Ever After starring Drew Barrymore and Angelica Huston. This is a Cinderella story with a bit of a twist.

The film opens with an ageing Princess being visited by to two gentlemen who turn out to be the Brothers Grimm. She compliments them on their work and mentions her fascination with the tale of the little cinder girl. While the brothers joke about pumpkins and fairy godmothers the princess reveals the glass slipper and offers to tell them the true tale.

Danielle gains a step-mother and two step-sisters when her father marries a Countess. Soon she runs into the Prince. She thinks he is a thief and pelts him with apples. When she realizes her mistake she offers up her life. But the Prince in on the run so he rewards her with gold. Danielle uses the gold to buy back the husband of one of the servants. But to do so she must impersonate a courtier and runs into the Prince again. She manages to sneak away but only after giving her mother's name as her own.

The stage is now set. The Prince does not want to marry the Spanish Princess his father has arranged for and seeks out Danielle. Under the pretense that she is a courtier they spend time together and a romance blossoms. The Prince is all set to announce his engagement (made at midnight at a ball) to Danielle but her step-mother reveals her base heritage and the Prince becomes angry. But in the end everything works out and the scene returns to the Brothers Grimm and Danielle's great-granddaughter.

There are no elements of the fantastic in this tale. No magic of fairies. Instead an attempt is made to place the tale firmly into history. The story is set in France in the Sixteenth century with the Prince being the Crown Prince of France. A little more cement is added in the form of Leonardo Da.. Vinci who has arrived to be the Royal Artist. Could this be during the two-year gap in Leonardo's history? I don't know. I do know that the movie is filled with humor, adventure and romance and stars a Cinderella who is a bit more competent than other renditions.

Angelica Huston is perfect as the step-mother. She really has the knack of being totally evil and proper at the same time. My only problem with the film was that the younger step-sister resembled Drew Barrymore a little too much. But that is a very minor point and hardly detracts from the film. I whole-heartedly recommend this film to anyone who likes a bit of fun, adventure, romance or any combination of the three. ... Read more

Made for television in 1993, and starring Drew Barrymore during her "bad girl" period, The Amy Fisher Story is arguably the best of the film adaptations made about the Long Island Lolita. Any film would have its hands full trying to depict the chaotic chain of events and tangled plot of the infamous shooting, so rather than refine any single viewpoint, the story unfolds with a Rashomon-like quality, depicting the tale of the assault in a series of flashbacks.Sometimes this leads to flashbacks within flashbacks, and even flashbacks within flashbacks within flashbacks, but don't worry, we've got ominous musical cues and grainy 16mm black-and-white stock to help us keep the story straight, which is more than we had at the time.

The movie does take a critical look at the television and print tabloids and their roles in the inflation of this event. DAME GOOD MOVIE!! THE BEST BY FAR!!
i have all 3 amy fisher movies still have yet to see the alyssa monlina one its coming in the mail soon exicted about that. First and formost i have to say this amy fisher movie is the best by far that i have seen drew was the best amy no one can deny that and the acting is fanstatic for a made for tv movie its incredible. The way drew potrayed amy is the way everyone saw her as a bitchy but innoncent girl who had alot of anger inside. You feel sorry for amy after watching this one (as you do in watching the other one with the one for nbc which i also wrote a review on) the movie potrays everyones acccount which i like it focous more on the scandel itself then the amy fisher story if you want to see that one watch lethal lotltia with noell parker great one also as i said. But by far drew is the best plain and simple no one did as good and no one can deny that!

Too Realistic?
How much you enjoy this movie will depend upon how much interest you have in Amy Fisher's story. Absent the fact that it is based upon real events, it is not all that exciting. It is well acted and filmed and makes some interesting comments upon the media, but that's all. From the perspective of realism and professionality, it is the best film made about Amy Fisher, but as a result is far less amusing than the other two films made from the perspective of Amy and Joey. It is more difficult to find humour in the characters when they are more real. This film, vs. the other two, shows equal sympathy (and condemnation) towards all those involved. Thus, as an exploitation film, it is not that great. The liner notes in the booklet about what Fisher and co. are doing now is far more entertaining and bizarre than anything in the film. Regarding the few new minutes added, I can see why they would be edited out of TV broadcasts, but they barely rate anything more than a PG-13.

Watching this film did not leave me wanting to regain lost time, but it's not particularly memorable and I can't picture myself watching it a second time.

I watched this for Drew and she did not disappoint.

This was a very interesting role for her to agree to do...she was quite impressive. Her accent and the way she carried herself was fantastic. I wish it could have gone into more detail...I thought the story was too vague. If I had any questions about what happened they wouldn't really have been answered here...there are too many conflicting stories...it doesn't make sense to me that Amy Fisher was the only person convicted of anything...maybe that's the point?

Drew can do no wrong in my book...I'd watch her paint a fence! If you're an admirer I'd like to suggest you buy this film...if you're not, I'd like to suggest you'd at least rent it. It's worth a peek.

A movie as innacurate as the papers were.
I forced myself to sit through this movie when it aired on television the first time. Although the acting was decent, perhaps even good, it was based, unfortunately, primarily on the tabloids and inaccurate accounts in the newspapers/television reports. How do I know this? Simple. I grew up in Bellmore, Long Island and went to school, and was friends with Amy (which, btw, is not the correct spelling of her name, just another instance of the press not bothering to check their facts).
I personally feel watching this video, or any movie based upon the unfortunate real life (no matter how inaccurate) events of unfortunate people is tacky at best, but if you're going to watch it, please don't take it as the gospel of what really happened.

A fun family movie
Amanda lives in an orphanage where her only real friend is her social worker. Alyssa is the only child of a multi-millionaire. But one summer, they meet by accident and hatch a daring plan. They switch places and try to get Amanda's social worker and Alyssa's dad to fall in love before he marries an awful woman. But when the fiancée figures out what's going on, can the girls pull it off?

Granted, this movie is a variation of The Parent Trap. And while there were a few unexpected twists, there really isn't anything new to the plot. But the movie is incredibly fun. The first time I saw it I laughed so hard it hurt, and I was in college at the time. The movie creates humor from the premise, sometimes setting up jokes well ahead of the punch line. The Olsens do a good job with the acting. It's fun watching them basically play each other. The adults do a fabulous job with their rolls, making it easy to get lost in this world.

I have shared this movie with many friends since I first saw it, and they all enjoyed it. I highly recommend this entertaining film.

Fun, fun, fun!
This is my favorite Olsen Twins movie, and I'm an adult who can honestly say she enjoys it. I grew up on Full House and have always loved watching those two. They've done a lot of movies, and this one is my favorite. Supported by the charming Steve Guttenberg, the extremely funny Kirstie Alley, and a supporting cast that includes Philip Bosco as the sly and smart butler and Jane Sibbett as Clarice, the snooty, evil-plotting fiance of Guttenberg's character, this movie is sure to please any fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley. So the story goes kind of like this: look-alikes Amanda and Alyssa (Mary-Kate and Ashley, respectively) literally bump into each other while at a summer camp (that Amanda's a camper at and that Alyssa's extremely rich father happens to own). Once the two realize how closely they resemble each other, they hatch a plan to get Alyssa's single dad and Amanda's pretty caseworker romantically involved. Will they succeed, amidst foodfights, canoes falling over, and the interference of the conniving Clarice? This is a fun movie from beginning to end, with lots of visual treats (Andy Tennant Films--Fools Rush In, Ever After, etc.--always seem to have beautiful scenery), funny dialogue, and fantastic characters. There's exactly one slightly objectionable word (spoken by one of the Olsens), but I think only very conservative parents will have a problem with it. This movie is part Parent Trap, part Three Men And A Little Lady, and . . . basically just a really cute movie.

Even though i am NOT one for remakes.And this is a remake of the
classic Disney movie "The Parent Trap" but underneath a different name.This is one remake that is even better the original.The Olsen Twins are these days' Shirley Temple.Both on screen and the way they conduct themselves.We have gotten to meet them and trust me they are the same in real life.We been fans of the TwinS since fuLL house days.I only have to warn parents of one thing in this movie that Mary-Kate does suprise the viewer with the use of a somewhat "dirty word".I would tell you what it is but it would most likely not get posted.Its P*SSED.Ok from that you can tell.
If you don't want your kids hearing that then stay away.But remember they hear that and worse then that in school and can't stop them from going to school.But most importantly the TwinS deliver in this movie.We have been blessed now with 18 years of their sweetness and talent.We wish them all the best they deserve all that they got.And when child stars turn out as they did that is more then an achievement.Don't miss this movie.And as for the Twins this is their bes
