3-0 out of 5 stars Child of Darkness, Child of Light
A priest is sent from Vatican city to investigate two virgin births that were promised in a letter that hadn't been opened until the last decade of the 20th century. The promise is that one of the virgin teenagers will give birth to a child who will give goodness to the world, and the other virgin will give birth to the anti-Christ. Although filmed very well, nicely laid out and containing a few dedicated performances, this isn't nearly as good as those similar, theatrical films from earlier in time like "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Omen." Fine score by Jay Gruska enhances the experience here. It is a TV movie, however, and for that, I must give it credit for being quite effective and entertaining. Sela Ward steals the show in this so-so Catholic chiller.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good scary film
I liked this movie. And I'm not usually a fan of this type of movie. The scene where the priest is seducing the nun is incredible and the frightening scenes will grab you when you leaast expect it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disturbing and satisfying...
This film was made from the novel Virgin, which is a messy, clunky piece of work...the film version is much better. The film has a gritty, realistic surface, a believability...and a genuine startle factor which is hard to come by. The imagery is beautiful and disturbing in a manner that the novelist never intended and the novel never approaches. There's a scene involving a shed full of pigeons that I remember with envy, wishing that I could write something that frightening and good.

Kristin Datillo, who's finally getting some press, was very young when she acted in this film, and heart-rendingly beautiful. It's strange that her work in this film didn't get her more critical and popular attention, for she turned in a very strong performance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kind've Predictable
This is one of those AntiChrist movies. Similar to The Seventh Sign and The Omen. It's about two pregnancies of two unwed mothers who are virgins of course and one is pregant with an evil antichrist and one is pregnant with a Christ like child.Your just suppose to figure out which is which. And enjoy it because it is pretty good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lying Eyes ( 1996 )
It's a really great show about an 18 year old cheerleader named Amy, and one day she meets a guy named Derek, who is 33, and he's married with kids. Amy doesn't know that, but for some weird reason, falls in love with him. Amy finds out that he is married and wants to break it off. But he tells her the same old same old, that he is an "Unhappy Marrige" and he is getting a divorce. Whatever, okay! It turns out there is no divorce in progress. So she gets threats, and she thinks that it is Derek's wife, but decides to hook up with him, just so she can find out who it is. It is a really good, fascinating movie, but most people wouldn't buy it for good money, But I did.

4-0 out of 5 stars Vengeful Drama/Thriller
This was an entertaining drama/thriller originally aired on Lifetime Network about a sweet, innocent, high school cheerleader who has a romantic affair with a man way too old for her. Now, she is being stalked and terrorized by the man's other jealous lover. The poor girl soon begins fearing for her life as the vengeful woman's tactics become more and more deadlier.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Movie
The movie is about some teenager who goes to high school adn has an affair with this 30 year old man. She is being stocked by some women and almost gets driven off a cliff by her. The movie keep syou guessing until the end. Worth watching but now owning.

3-0 out of 5 stars From "Models Inc." to Mistress
Routine suspense-thriller yet engrossing and exciting enough to try to catch it whenever it appears on Lifetime every so often--although I wouldn't recommend spending good money buying it. Better than it otherwise would be because of the uncommonly beautiful Cassidy Rae, who first attained some notice on TV's defunct "Models Inc." It's puzzling why she's not more famous--oh well, the vagaries of stardom, I suppose. Rae (yes, that's her real name although it sounds so patently phony!) stars as Amy Miller, a wholesome high school senior who gets embroiled in a turbulent affair with Derek Bradshaw (Vincent Irizzary), a 33-year old married lawyer with small kids who has an unquenchable taste for sweet young things. Amy's extremely flattered and impressed by the attention and pricey gifts he lavishes upon her, but attempts to break it off when she discovers he has a family. Derek gives her the old routine about how he didn't tell her because he didn't want to lose her, he's getting a divorce, it'll take some time, it'll hurt his kids, blah blah blah, and naive Amy gives him another chance since she's in love. Disturbing things happen to her such as the trashing of her locker, a sick letter in the mail, her car almost being pushed off a cliff, getting locked in a steamroom, etc. and naturally Amy suspects Derek's wife, who already knows about the affair. When she decides to end it with Derek for good, she then becomes suspicious of him as the unrelenting, anonymous harassments and threats to her life continue. Unbeknownst to her, it's not any of the likely suspects but a person connected to Derek's weakness for young girls and somebody she never would have imagined--although we the audience can figure out pretty early on who it is. I had some problems with Amy's character as she comes across as being a little too ingenuous to be believable for someone who's supposed to be intelligent--I know she's in love but to fall for the oldest cheating married man's tale in the book (that he's in an unhappy marriage) which might very well be true but when it comes time to leave their wives, boy, that's another story! But the story's writers apparently attempted to cover this with Amy's lonely home life living with her divorced and very busy mom--she's looking for a father figure, I suppose. And I thought it was pretty pathetic the way she doesn't even notice Derek's obvious treatment of her as really nothing more than decoration. The supposedly "scary" scenes come across as cheap rehashes of slasher movie staples--the young nubile babe who knows she's in peril but willingly puts herself in dangerous situations all alone calling "Who's there?" As for Irizzary, his character comes across as too slimy and smarmy to believe a high-school goddess would fall for him, but I guess never underestimate the allure of maturity, money and all the great gifts it can buy! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Better watch out
you will enjoy this movie. A true "B" movie of the 80's but it's fun watching Rainbow Harvest's payback to the "Big Shots" of those infamous high school days. Like I said just a fun little flick to watch. So buy it and enjoy!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Middling fare, but certainly not unenjoyable.
A social teen outcast (played by Winona Ryder look-a-like Rainbow Harvest) discovers a mirror in her room that gives her special powers, which she proceeds to use violently on her taunting classmates. This supernatural horror/thriller takes way too long to really get going, but is pretty entertaining for the last forty or so minutes. Despite a few very silly moments and a baffling ending, there's enough blood, suspense, and nudity to satisfy horror fans looking for a quick fix.
** 1/2 out of *****

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest horror movies ever!!!!!!
If you really want to be scared, and your not afraid of the dark, you must see this movie. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Director Sargenti did a fabulous job. I thought the acting was great. You will hope this movie never ends.

3-0 out of 5 stars very enjoyable sleeper
MIRROR MIRROR is a rip off of every teen angst movie you've ever seen, mostly CARRIE & THE FURY, and it's all the more enjoyable for it. Director Sargenti offers up this fluff horror piece about a shy "goth" girl named Megan (Rainbow Harvest) who moves to a new school filled with your expected bitchy cheerleaders and obnoxious jocks. The class sweetheart Nikki (Kristen Datillo) makes "nice" with Megan and tries to help her join the popularity club, but it backfires repeatedly. Lucky for Megan, and no one else, she finds a magic mirror which empowers her with the ability to create "Fury" on her enemies through nose bleeds, burnings, drowings, and the ability to project demons in the form of her classmates to carry on murderous deeds.

The film moves quickly, has an authentically eerie look thanks to the cast and settings always being dressed in shades of blue & green, and offers of some good suspense. And then there's the cast to die for: Yvonne DeCarlo, Karen Black, Ricky Paull Golden, William Sanderson, Charlie Spradling... and more. For a fun time with fluffy scares and some decent monster make up, check it out... but skip the lame sequels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Smart, intelligent horror
This is a low budget but very well done horror movie about a demonic mirror.

It has great music and a real sense of atmosphere. The director does great work with slow motion and interesting use of sound effects.

The well-written smart script also has some nice deadpan humour: you have to see Charleen's school president campaign ad to believe it.

The look of the film is creepy, the school bullies Kim and Charleen are horribly nasty (as well as the best characters in the film) and the ending is just WOW. I was sorry to see this film end. ... Read more
