5-0 out of 5 stars Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!!! The only decent rangers!
I grew up watching the Power Rangers and will never forget my days seeing Jason, Kimberley, Billy, Trini and Zack fighting Rita Repulsa's latest creation.

Day of the Dumpster is the FIRST EVER episode of the Power Rangers. 5 teenagers are chosen to become the Power Rangers when evil space witch Rita Repulsa escapes from her prison.

These classic episodes are the only ones worth watching. After the third series of Power Rangers the show just got really stupid and the actors got even worse! The only problem I have with the original Power Rangers is that you can never watch it anymore. The original episodes are hardly ever shown on FOX TV anymore and only a few number of episodes were ever released on VHS.

To satisfy us fans they should release an official boxset. The complete first season of the show followed by the complete second and third seasons. As I said once before when the Power Rangers turn into the Zeo rangers there is just no point watching anymore!

I understand there are like over 100 episodes alone in the first season but they could release the season in different parts. Like the first boxset contains the first 25 episodes followed by another one which contains the next 25 episodes and so on! Please SABAR!!! Have some heart and give us fans memories by giving us every single episode of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on DVD!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Cool series, but these tapes are a rip-off
INTRODUCTION:
The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers was a classic sci-fi action series that debuted on FOX in 1993. This series tells the story of five teenagers who are given superhuman abilities to battle an evil empress who has her sights set on destroying the world. The series lasted for a number of seasons, and has spawned at least half a dozen spin-offs (all of which are inferior to this, the original series.) The series became wildly popular almost immeadiately, so five of the earliest episodes got VHS releases (keep in mind, this series was in its prime long before DVDs were invented.) This is tape one of five. Read on for my review.

EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
Two astronauts are on a moon-walking expedition, when they discover a strange object. They open this object, and an evil empress, Rita, is freed from it. She says that for her "coming-out party", she will destroy the nearest planet (which is Earth.) Meanwhile on Earth, Rita's old nemesis Zordon (who is forced to live in a glass jar for reasons that will be explained later in the series) discovers that she is free. He warps five teenagers to his secret command center, and gives them superhuman powers. Unfortuately, they don't take him seriously and leave. But before long, Rita's army begins attacking the city, so the teens realize something - this is no joke. They use their newfound powers to battle the invaders, but will it be enough?

EPISODE OPINIONS:
Overall, this is a very good first episode for the classic series. Unfortunately, it leaves a number of questions unanswered(fortunately most of these are answered in later episodes.) If you're going to get into this series, you may as well begin at the beginning.

TAPE OPINIONS:
These videos are a rip-off because you only get one episode per video! When most series are released on video, they put two episodes on each video so that consumers get a better value - not true here!

OVERALL:
If you can find these videos for a good price, they're a worthwhile diversion from all of the junk that has been flooding the television airwaves recently. If you're going to watch the Power Rangers, make sure it's the classic series - and not those lame spin-offs FOX has been showing in recent years.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best
the one to start it all yes i have been a fan seens this episode first was shown. ya a long time ago. it is about when rita rapulsa is relesed from a dumster on the moon she is an evil scorceres that is trying to "concure earth" then zordon finds 5 "teen agers with attitude" and they become the power rangers

5-0 out of 5 stars POWER RANGERS
This was the first power rangers ep ever. If you are buying this copy for the first box art then do it. But if you are looking to buy this because you just wanted to see the ep then you should look for the CLASSIC RED RANGER tape. You get two ep for less. You get this ep Day of the Dumpster and The Wannabe Ranger.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Series!
"Day of the Dumpster" is the episode that started the whole craze off. That is why I like it so much. The first Morphin' sequence, the first time you see the Zords etc. that's what makes it the best! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars do not analyze but enjoy
I have studied martial arts for a very long time, and I teach young children...This movie may have an element of revenge overtoning the truth behind the meaning of martial arts, but children do not see it that way, nor do I...all the children I have taught have seen this movie and we all agree it is a great film, about respect, teamwork, leadership and growth...the people who constantly analyze a film instead of viewing it and enjoying it will always miss the message behind it. Sure it was about revenge for the character "tommy" - Yet, how did it end! I think this is an excellent movie for the young and old alike. So for all those people who constantly pester the subject behind this movie don't really know/understand the meaning of Martial arts. For them, you need to grow up and get with the program! I would like to see this movie in DVD soon as well...

5-0 out of 5 stars good viewing quality hard to find
I first saw this movie when it first came out, and believe it or not i can still remember the story line and the impact it had on me as a person having only seen it once,MAYBE TWICE,this movie greatly inspired me with the message it sent. But you have to watch the whole thing, especially the last 30-45 minutes of it to really grasp what that message is. Few movies(as a grown man)have ever made me angry, want to stand up and cheer, and shed tears at the same time. if you want to see a movie with people beating each other up and killing each other just for the fun of it, then this is not the one for you, but if you enjoy a good show of competition and sportsmanship, with some "on the edge of your seat action" and a heartfelt message contained therein then i defineitly absolutley recomend this one. Lets just say you might not pay much attention to your popcorn bowl!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Movie
This movie is very touching........very. I recomend it to all martial arts fans

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best of The Best, Alot better than the rest
i will keep it short and sweet. The Best of The Best is one of the best movies i have ever seen, The ending is really good and it almost made a tear drop from my eyes.Buy it and watch it forever

4-0 out of 5 stars pop it tommy, pop it.
If you want to watch a fun movie, this is it. Sure, some of the acting is not academy award winning. Who cares! It's a movie you just want to watch when there's nothing else on. It's not a chick flick. However, I assure you that you will be reciting several lines from the movie. Anyone that has watched this movie can recite a line or two. It's that good! hahahaha...

i'm sure there's a small following of "best of the best." we are still waiting for the dvd version. It's a fun movie. enjoy! ... Read more

This episode is the last of the Evil Green Ranger episodes. The Power Rangers at the end get Tommy to his original self and becomes one of the good guys, then they go and get Rita, but she always seems to disappear whenever she gets in danger (she's a chicken). Trust me if you are looking for action this is the video to get for anyone in your family, but if you are getting this video make sure you have seen the other four episodes that go along with this video. They are here in Amazon.com, just have to search for them. If you are embarassed to buy it because you are to old, hey, I am 15 years old and my mom loves them and she is 41 years old. 5-0 out of 5 stars What started it all
When watching a show like "Power Rangers," you have to look at things outside your own worldview. You have to be willing to experience a story that's unique among others. And this video is the perfect way to do it.

Featuring the pilot episode of "Day of the Dumpster," this "Power Playback" edition shows how something unique and different can cause a worldwide phenomenon and can start a chain reaction of relentless success until this very day, 10 years after "Day of the Dumpster" premiered.

In short, this video is a must-have if you're not a mindless drone to society's bias standard of "what's good."

1-0 out of 5 stars BY FAR THE WORST T.V. SHOW AND TOY LINE IN HISTORY!
It's obvious to a majority of people, (at least here in the United States) that the t.v. show known as the power rangers has to be, quite possibly one of the stupidest television shows ever shown to small children.

The origins of this show goes way back over 27 years ago, as it is known in Japan as Sentai. The Sentai show that the power rangers ripped off in 1993 is known as zyuranger sentai which debuted in Japan several years earlier. The difference between Sentai and power rangers is that at least sentai is watchable, although barely. The characters in the Sentai series weren't silly teenagers, but rather, true martial art superheroes who could transform themselves into Dinosaurs when necessary. The show was also geared for an older audience.

In the summer of 1993, a kid's television producer from America decided to bring the Sentai show to the U.S., albeit with awful, silly teenagers, rather than true martial artists superheros. After my nephew begged me to watch a t.v. show about karate chopping heroes who wear silly, muilti colored leotards who change into dinosaurs, I knew I had to see this, because, as I guessed it, it was ripped off directly from Japan's long running Sentai series. The power rangers are completely ridiculous, (A couple of them can't even fight, they just do these silly gymnastics!) as opposed to the Zyurangers who are true martial artists.

The toyline is awful, (looking like third rate Gundam robot toys, while the power rangers look like the same clowns in different colors, with these heads that flip back and forth!) and thank goodness that my nephew, as well as millions of other children have outgrown the idiotcy of them. Can you believe that this awful show was made into a movie back in 1995?

All I can say for fans of this ridiculous show and for those who feel compelled to stick up for it, is this, watch the Japanese Sentai Zyurangers and you'll see how much better they are over the really irritating american power rangers television show is! Thank goodness, both the American power rangers television show and the toyline has long faded from our exsistence!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Beginning..................
This video is awesome for those who enjoy watching Power Rangers, and especially, for those who loved the original series of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. This video has the original Red Ranger, Jason, as played by Austin St. John. He was the best Power Ranger of all because he was tough, a good fighter, and his overacting fit the series and his character perfectly. Watching a show like this just isn't fun when you have bland actors who just barely audibly speak their lines, and with the original series you get to see the best Red Ranger, and to me, the best Power Ranger (besides all of the pretty girl Power Rangers). So if you're looking for a cheesy, fun, fantastic good time, this is the tape to get.

4-0 out of 5 stars Confusing monster
It is a good movie. I liked to find out how they all became power rangers in the first episode. The second episode has Tommy too, and a confusing ape monster that Zedd created.

5-0 out of 5 stars Morphin Mania
By purchasing this video, you get to see how the Power Ranger Phenominon all started with it's first episode "Day of the Dumpster". This video is actually a compilation of two eps: the one listed before and "The Wanna Be Ranger". This video shows off clasic examples of why Power Rangers is still one of the greatest shows still on TV. If you want more action and excitement, I recomend purchasing both Power Rangers Lost Galaxy tapes here at this site! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good series, but these tapes are a rip-off
INTRODUCTION:

This is tape three of five. Read on for my review.

EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
For a new monster, Finster creates a pig that will eat all of the food on the earth. And since people need food to live, this will make Rita's plan to destroy the world easier. The Power Rangers go into battle with the monster, but the unthinkable happens - it eats their weapons! Will they find a way to stop this monster?

EPISODE OPINIONS:
Overall, this is a good episode, but it's a bit cheesy, and the plot isn't too exciting (I thought Rita wanted simply to destroy the earth, not make its people suffer!) I was pissed to discover that this was tape 3, and High Five was tape 2. In other words, they skipped the Minotaur episode for the tape releases! The Minotaur episode is important because it is the episode in which the Rangers get their weapons, and its being skipped is unforgivable.

TAPE OPINIONS:

These videos are a rip-off because you only get one episode per video! When most series are released on video, they put two episodes on each video so that consumers get a better value - not true here!

OVERALL:

All the other reincarnations of the Power Rangers (i.e. Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers in Space) cannot compare to the original show. And this video is just one in a series that proves it! 5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Power Ranger Videos Of All Time!!!
I love the Power Rangers and collect all of their videos!!! Anyway, about the video, it is great. I especially like the part where Billy, Zack, Bulk, and Skull are in detention and Bulk and Skull put on the shades making them think that Billy and Zack are Putties and they run around screaming and the principal yells for them to sit down. I also like the part where Bulk and Skull pour iquana food all over the tank...and the iquana!!! Other than the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Movie this is the best Power Rangers video of all!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Classic episode

EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
For a project that requires vision protection, Zack and Billy create two pairs of sunglasses that both look cool and protect the eyes. Unfortunately, Rita has her minions put a curse on the glasses so that whenever the two see one of their fellow human beings, they will see a Putty instead. This leads to large amounts of confusion. And to make things worse, Rita has already sent a monster to earth! Will they find a way to overcome the vision problem?

EPISODE OPINIONS:
Overall, this is a good episode. This is one of the more interesting episodes in the series due to the status condition that is inflicted upon Billy and Zack. These types of episodes were always my favorite ones, and this was no exception.

TAPE OPINIONS:

3-0 out of 5 stars Silly Putty
I am not a huge fan of this series although I do like most sci-fi & super-hero type stuff. That being said, this is one of the better Power Ranger videos in my opinion. I liked the plot (Zed casts a spell on Billy & Zack that causes them to see their fellow Rangers as Putties, which are bad guys for you parents.) Of course, he throws in a monster for good measure. But I think Bulk & Skull, the comic relief duo, are the real stars of this series. So, if you like this series or your kids do, then I would recommend this video. If not, then it's little more than silly putty (Pun intended). At worst, it's a half hour of mindless fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Putty on Brain

3-0 out of 5 stars Worst of the Best or Best of the Worst?
After seeing the excellent BEST OF THE BEST, I felt sure that a sequel was in the works. It took four years, but after seeing BEST OF THE BEST 2, I was hugely disappointed. Perhaps it is unfair to compare a sequel to the original. Stallone in ROCKY was so good that even if ROCKY II had been much better than it was, it would have been hard to approach the first. The problem with BEST OF THE BEST II is that director Robert Radler, who directed both, had no idea what on what plot frame to hang his martial arts sequences. Instead of a morally uplifting tournament which admittedly had revenge as a contributing element as Radler had in Part I, he took the by now weary motife of revenge, placed it squarely on center stage, and to it added a loathesome series of characters whose sliminess made my skin crawl. Wayne Newton, who is one of the richest of men in Las Vegas in real life, is here one of the most obnoxiously repulsive underground fight promoters. Now you might think that his very obnoxiousness is what marks him as a fine actor, but I have seen dozens of other actors in exactly the same role do a better job without going over the top as Newton does in each scene that he is in. The plot is your standard bad-guy-kills-my-brother-in-a-cage theme. But what I found most repellent was the audience watching the cage matches. If this film is to be believed, it suggests that the typical audience member is a mindless goon, intent only on seeing gore, regardless of whose it is. I found it difficult to watch the moral bankruptcy that filled the void that Radler calls a plot. What saved this movie from being totally repugnant were the fight scenes. Eric Roberts and Phillip Rhee reprise their roles as fellow martial artists who now find that their fighting is not restricted by the rules of a tournament but by the limits of their skill in deadly combat. Roberts has little to do except punch out the usual number of lackeys. It is Rhee who moves to center stage in a series of consecutive combats that brings to mind Van Damme in the kumite. Rhee defeats an inreasingly skillful level of fighter until he meets the Bad Guy (Moeller), who looks like (and sounds like) a more chiseled Schwartzenegger. Rhee's fight scenes during the last twenty minutes are quite thrilling, especially since Rhee had the good sense to avoid the patently phony choreographed look of kick followed by punch. He shows the varied moves that reality fighters have shown in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Moeller, who later wrestled for Vince McMahon in the WWF, is convincing as the ruthless Brakus. Sonny Ladham switches from playing a drunk to being Rhee's martial arts instructor and does creditably in both. By the time the closing credits roll, the sensational fight scenes nearly made me forget the muck I had to wade through to get there.

3-0 out of 5 stars Phillip Rhea - The Unknown Talent
First and foremost, this is a "B" movie. The acting is not top notch and the plot itself will not make any significat changes to your perspective on life. Furthermore, if you are not a fan of Martial Arts, then please stop reading. This movie will most likely not appeal to you. Now that we have that out of the way, and you are still reading, please... buy it, rent it, schedule time for it if it's on cable/satellite TV, whatever. Phillip Rhea is very impressive in this second installment ~ a lot more than in part one. His range in Martial Arts is truly engaging, apparently combining moves from several of the different arts. Pay particular close attention to the fighting scenes in the arena. He changes his style when fighting different opponents to capitalize on their weaknesses. As a matter of fact, it is the fighting scenes in the arena that make this worth watching.
"B" movie actors, Chris Penn and the overdramatic Eric Roberts, also appear in this second part. Stiff and unorthodox, their skills (acting or martial art?) have not improved since part one. However, Sonny Landham also makes an appearance. He is that obscure Native American actor you see here and there, but never really knew his name. Some of you might remember him in Predator. Well he plays Rhea's older brother, a former tournament fighter turned $hit kicking, Jack-Daniels stinkin' drunk. He is actually quite funny and lends to the overall entertainment value.
Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Legendary Martial Arts Action
Leonard Maltin must have been under the influence when he rated this series. Best of the Best 1 and 2 deserve to be in the top 10 for Martial Arts movies. Phillip Rhee should be placed in a category with Bruce and Brandon Lee, Mark Dacoscas, Jackie, Sammo and Yeung. It's martial arts ability, form, and charisma all rolled into one. I remember rewinding the scene with the nunchaku until I could mimic it. If you like martial arts, you WILL love this movie. You should also try Rapid Fire, The Big Brawl, Only the Strong, Drive, and rent some old wrestling videos with the Steiner Brothers and Shawn Michaels. Trust me.

... I still like this movie, but I was just a kid when I wrote this review. Don't hold it against me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Leonard Maltlin is out to lunch
This one is fun. Yes you should enjoy martial arts. But basically its fun. Especially Rhee's fight at the arena.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent movie!!
This movie is great. It has lots of action and has a great score. Leonard Maltin does not know what he is talking aabout. The "Best of the Best" series is nothing like "Rocky". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ROCK SOLID TELEVISION ENTERTAINMENT
The entire hercules movie series is an intriguing thrillfest perfectly designed to bring fun back to television. I really hope its success lures writers and producers to kill off these stupid reality shows and bring entertainment back to televison. I am forced to rent movies now that there is normally never anything compelling to watch other than cop and law shows.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Solid Genre Movie.
Early fans of Hercules and Xena may remember the weekend Action Pack movies of 1994. This was the second movie that stars Kevin Sorbo as Hercules, Anthony Quinn as Zeus, Renee O'Conner "Gabrielle" as princess Deianeira, Robert Trebor "Salmoneus" as servant Weylan, and Nathaniel Lees "Chairon the Centaur of Young Hercules" as the Blue Priest. Once again Hercules is sent on a quest to stop the goddess Hera by finding the lost city of Troy. Giants, Queens, Sea Monsters, the 48 sons of Martinus and a Blue Priest Cult army stand in his way. The movie is clever, fast-paced and a good example of what makes these shows fun to watch. The Deianeira/Blue Priest storyline reminded me of the Dreamworker Xena episode. Well worth watching.

5-0 out of 5 stars Full movie, two hour episode with Renee O'Connor too!
Antony Quinn plays Zeus, Kevin Sorbo the mighty Hercules. Add Renee O'Connor (pre Gabrielle, side kick to Xena) in this early episode that helped to make Hercules The Legendary Journeys into a series. When war threatens, Hercules pledges to save Troy from attack. But, Hera who bares no love for Hercules, hides the city. The only way to find the land is by using a magical compass that will reveal its coordinates. Giving a helpful preview, Renee O'Connor plays a rescued innocent who sort of helps in the quest. Great fun, punny humor, wonderful cast, and the magic of Hercules' unique style.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow! The best one of all!
Herc is charming and funny and it's a two-hour movie, I didn't know it existed but it's the best one of all.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun For All Ages!
Although not quite living up to the first H:TLJ movie, "Hercules and the Amazon Women", this "Hercules and The Lost Kingdom" is a pleasant movie the entire family should enjoy. What is most interesting is that Kevin Sorbo's co-star is a very young Renee O'Conner who will go on to be Gabrielle in the "Xena, Warrior Princess" television show. In this movie she plays a young, fiesty woman who seems an orphan but is haunted by the idea that she is more than she appears. She tags along with Hercules and they find one adventure after another, including being swallowed up by a giant sea serpent! Robert Trebor also appears but NOT as Salmoneous (as he has been in both HERCULES and XENA series). Instead, he is a very willing slave that learns to be a hero. Over all, not a superior movie but the special effects are good and, as always, Kevin Sorbo is a wonder to watch. NOTE * Anthony Quinn again plays Zeus to perfection but, sadly, dashing Michael Hurst did not return as Iolaus. His absence was felt. ... Read more
