5-0 out of 5 stars The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries belong on DVD!
Here is another intelligent show that brings back a ton of fond memories! This episode, "Wipe Out", and ALL the other episodes of the "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" starring Shaun Cassidy, Parker Stevenson, and Pamela Sue Martin/Janet Johnson, belong on DVD! Shaun and Parker as Joe and Frank Hardy brought humor and warmth to their brotherly roles; and the intrepid Nancy Drew was fiercely independent and a perfect role model for young women. Of course this version of the "Hardy Boys" was enhanced by Shaun's singing - and "Wipe Out" featured him singing not his own tunes but the music of "The Beach Boys". This series also featured a memorable ensemble of guest stars including the late Rick Nelson ("The Flickering Torch Mystery" with great concert footage), Lorne Green, Patrick MacNee, Melanie Griffith, Paul Williams, Ray Milland, Valerie Bertinelli, Maren Jensen, Anne Lockhart, and a host of others. And let's not forget Edmund Gilbert who, in my mind, will always be "Fenton Hardy". Today's young tv viewers (and the rest of us, too!) need to get re-acquainted with Nancy, Frank, and Joe! Let's see this complete series on DVD SOON!

4-0 out of 5 stars This Show Should Have Complete Season DVD Boxsets!
The Hardy Boys was one of my favorite TV shows in the 70's and as a young girl ages 12 to 14 I had a big crush on Shaun Cassidy, I had his record albums, posters a T-shirt, etc. The Hardy Boys TV show is based on the young readers Mystery books by Franklin W. Dixon and stars Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson as brothers Joe and Frank Hardy who solve mysteries and crimes and was a very entertaining show. I would like to see this episode and all of the rest on DVD in complete season DVD boxsets!

4-0 out of 5 stars Hardy Boys in WIPE OUT
I was one of those girls who just LOVED Shaun Cassidy, I even had a Hardy Boys t-shirt in grade 3. Now after years of waiting to see these shows again, I was suprised that besides having cute guys, the show did have a good story line. And yes Shaun does sing, although I thought he sounded better when I was 7. Anyway this is a good one, It will bring back some of those childhood warm fuzzy feelings.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dreamboat Shaun Cassidy shines in beach caper!
This is one of the coolest Hardy Boys episodes because Shaun SINGS! He performs "Surfin' U.S.A." on the beach for Frank & their Hawaii pals on location. A must-have for any Shaun Cassidy fan. No love scenes, though - darn! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 'IT'S THE OLD CHINESE SQUEEZE_DAD."
This episode of "The Hardy Boys and the Nancy Drew Mysteries" is
infact very good. I have seen it about thirty times. It involves the smuggling of precious art objects and contraband. Fences that reside located in Hong Kong. Although_ none of the episode is infact filmed in Hong Kong. It takes the Chi8nese influence though to San Fransisco's China Town, where most of this episode is filmed. The plot is affectionately centered around an ancient taiwanese diety called the "jade quan yin" which is a small statue. Frank and Joe Hardy stumble across it while out scuba diving, but soon realise after some forensic analysis, that it has attracted some higher importance to certain members of the chinese community. A few great chase scenes and some pretty cool handed dirty tricks. It's alot of fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Jade Kwan Yin - A Classic Hardy Boys Episode
Frank and Joe are scuba diving when they are hit by a small crate that's been thrown off a boat. Attempts to return the contents - a statue of the goddess Kwan Yin - to its rightful owner turn out to be more complicated than they expect.

This has several classic Hardy Boys elements: wrecked rooms, Frank and Joe getting chewed out by local law enforcement, and the "after all - you're the oldest" line that ran through much of the tv series. It also has one of the best portrayals of the relationship between the brothers: a mixture of teasing and absolute loyalty - and the onscreen chemistry between Shaun and Parker - which was one of several reasons the show was so popular.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent episode; lots of Lisa Eilbacher
The Jade Kwan Yin mystery is pretty standard, classic Hardy Boys. Not as good as Witches Hollow, but better than many others. Good acting by the guest stars (again, better than usual) and a fair number of scenes with the divine Lisa Eilbacher...the only unbelievable part is the ending, where the jade figurine allegedly has been holding gems - curiously, the gems have made no noise during all the handling of the statuette. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Worth Buying This Tape
I was delightfully surprised at the good quality of the sound and the picture of this tape. I am very happy with it.

I've seen both episodes on television, but it's more fun to actually own them. "The Sisters" focuses on Adam and a woman he has chosen to date against Ben's wishes. I thought it showed a nice side to Adam, especially when he revealed his reasons to his father later in the episode. I also think it demontrated how the family supports each other, which is something I really like about the Cartwrights.

The second episode, "El Toro Grande" is also a good show. It's always a delight to see Hoss and Joe get into some of the stuff they manage to get into. And, then they somehow manage to get out of it. Ben and Adam have small parts in this episode, but they really add to it, especially Adam's comment at the end. He always seems to know when his brothers are telling the whole truth and when they aren't.

The second is a comic episode where the first was a drama. So, you get both kinds of stories on one tape. If you want quality, entertaining family shows, and you love Bonanza, then this is a tape to own.

5-0 out of 5 stars One episode comic, one dramatic - a good bet for any fan
This tape gives good air time to all four Cartwrights - Adam and Ben in the first episode, a dramatic story in which Adam defies his father by dating a girl of poor repute and ends up accused of her murder. The story is sad and romantic and exciting and a nice departure, since Adam is usually the level-headed brother. The second features Hoss and Joe on a trip to Mexico to buy a prize bull, and the comedy of errors and adventures that ensues. Wonderful fun - full of laughs and unexpected twists. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good episode; poor quality video
"The Avenger" episode of "Bonanza" features and a young and handsome Vic Morrow in one of his many pre-"Combat!" television appearances. This was the first of his two guest appearances on the acclaimed TV western. He portrayed different characters in both episodes. In "The Avenger" Morrow is a character named Lassiter; he rides in to town to avenge a murder just as Ben and Adam Cartwright are about to be hanged for murders they did not commit.

An interesting story line develops as young Lassiter makes a connection in Virginia City and charms a lady and a young boy. The Cartwrights are, of course, spared the hangman's noose. Morrow shines in this episode and fans of his early work will want to add this one to their collection.

The low star rating is not due to the story nor the acting, but rather the poor quality of this video. The video was produced on the "EP" mode of recording, resulting in poor picture quality as compared to tapes produced in "SP" mode. I've viewed this tape on VCRs with both automatic tracking and manual tracking and have not been able to obtain a clear picture. If this is a "must have" for your video library, the Amazon price is low enough, but watch for this episode to show up on television if you want a better quality picture. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Another Fugitive Falsely Accused
One of the most commonly used themes that the script writers of THE FUGITIVE liked was the one of a man, other than Richard Kimble, being falsely accused of a crime. During the course of a four year run, this sort of thing routinely happened. In TERROR AT HIGHPOINT, Jamie, a strong but mentally disabled young man, is hired by Buck (well played by Jack Klugman). The other field workers taunt him mercilessly, causing Kimble to take pity on him and offer whatever solace he could. In many episodes Kimble shows his essential goodness of nature by helping those humans and animals who are in need of that help. Buck's wife is attacked but cannot identify the attacker. Naturally, the confused Jamie is blamed, who runs away in fear. Later, Kimble learns that the predator is one of the posse members.
This is one of the very ordinary episodes, whose only saving grace is to further bring out Kimble's willingness to help others even at the risk of his own detection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Richard Kimble Clears Boy, Helps Construction Boss
Terror At Highpoint is a first season episode of The Fugitive featuring an unusually good supporting cast in Jack Klugman, Elizabeth Allen, Buck Taylor, and James Best - Dukes of Hazzard fans will likely be shocked to hear Best speaking without a drawl.

David Janssen is Richard Kimble, using the alias Paul Beaumont, now working as timekeeper to a construction project under Buck (Klugman). Kimble also serves as a surrogate big brother to Jamie (Taylor), a retarded young man whose physical strength lands him a job at the site that he needs to feed his family. The other, older men at the site mercilessly taunt Jamie, leading to a fight early on between Kimble/Beaumont and a particularly vicious bully named Dan (Best).

In addition to his relationship with Jamie and Buck, Kimble also gets swept into the angst between Buck and his wife (Allen), who wants to have a child but cannot because Buck fears that he cannot father a healthy child.

Eventually Buck's wife is attacked and beaten nearly to death, and the clues indicate it was the work of Jamie. Kimble is certain Jamie didn't do it, and has to stop a lynch mob led by Buck to prove it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Join the Cartwrights of Bonanza in this American Classic!
The famous television western series Bonanza is set in the vicinity of Virginia City, Nevada, during the years of the Civil War, soon after the discovery of the fabulous Comstock Silver Lode. Bonanza is the saga of the Cartwrights, a prosperous family of ranchers. The Cartwright family - father Ben and his sons Adam, Hoss and Little Joe - used their indomitable spirit to carve their timberland ranch, known as the Ponderosa Ranch, out of a wild and forbidding land. "Badge Without Honor" is about a man named Gerald Eskith who comes to town claiming to be a Deputy Marshall. He wants to take the Cartwrights friend Jason Blaime to San Francisco to testify against the Murdock Gang. Adam, however, has his suspicions and decides to go along with them..... Quality of the tape is perfect. A pity is the missing well-known "Bonanza"-tune. Now the episode starts with a nasty kind of music. See Lorne Greene as Ben Cartwright, a three time widower; Pernell Roberts as his eldest son Adam; big Dan Blocker as son Hoss; Michael Landon as the youngest son, Little Joe. It's nice to see all the famous characters back on the screen. ... Read more

Samantha Stephens, the grooviest witch on TV, is up to some good-natured holiday mischief in these classic Bewitched Christmas episodes. In "Humbug Not to Be Spoken Here," a grouchy client of Darrin's stops by to talk business on Christmas Eve and threatens to ruin everyone's fun. In "A Vision of Sugarplums," Sam and Darrin adopt an orphan for the holiday--but it just so happens the boy thinks Christmas is "a lot of bunk." Fortunately Samantha is chummy with Santa Claus, and a couple of quick trips to the North Pole restore the Christmas spirit to both nonbelievers. Best of all, Sam's daughter Tabitha gets a one-of-a-kind Susie Bruisie doll out of the deal! Both episodes are full of good clean holiday fun--for maximum enjoyment, bake cookies while you watch. --Claire Campbell ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb viewing for the festive season
This tape contains two of the great Christmas episodes from the magical series "Bewitched" One episode is from season one and the second from season three. Both are just great and being from the earlier part of this classic long running series are really fresh and vital. Both have the benefit of having Dick York playing Darren which is a real bonus as he was far and away the best of the two Darrens.
My favorite of the two episodes is "Humbug not to be Spoken Here" it is one of the very finest of the many classic episodes of this great series and really indicates why "Bewitched" was such a special series and continues to be. Using Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" as a loose basis this episode deals with a grumpy client of Darrens (beautifully played by the always superb Charles Lane..a Bewitched regular) who learns the true meaning of Christmas and friendship after a magical night organised by Samantha. It is a truly wonderful, funny, and often touching episode. That was the beauty of "Bewitched" in that often it combined broad comedy with very touching expressions of love and sentiment. This tape is a Christmas Eve regular in my home and I look forward to screening it every year.

Elizabeth Montgomery....... what can I say about this truly great actress? I dont think there was an episode of "Bewitched" where she was not wonderful and she brought Samantha Stevens to life like no one else could possibly. It is because of her that "Bewitched" lives on and is as popular today as it was when first aired. She combines beauty, brains, and total warmth in the character.
In "Humbug" Elizabeth has some great moments and the one in particular that never fails to move me is when, after having helped Santa with his present deliveries, she and Charles Lane are looking through the window of his butler Hawkin's home .While watching Hawkins playing with his young son. Lane exclaims "why does he look so happy doesn't he know he's poor? to which Elizabeth replies "Mr Mortimer, you're rich but are you happy? Very moving stuff at Christmas time and what modern comedy series could put across wonderful sentiment like that?
Truly a wonderful Christmas treat that I recommend to you

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Great Entertainment
The original cast! Everyone who is a real Bewitched fan knows that Dick York was the only true Darrin Stevens, not the other imposter whose name I won't even mention! And Elizabeth Montgomery...what else? Simply put, perfect for the part of Samantha Stevens. This video is definately worth the money...it also makes a great Christmas gift for that Bewitched fan on your Christmas list!!! This video will leave the viewer in the Holiday Spirit!

5-0 out of 5 stars This really brings out the Chrstmas spirit
