5-0 out of 5 stars WHICH ONE WAS IT?
I WAS A CHILD WHEN THIS TV SERIES WAS ON THE AIR ALSO. HOWEVER I RECALL AT LEAST TWO EPISODES WHICH HAD BOTH NANCY DREW AND THE HARDY BOYS BOTH IN THE PLOT AT THE SAME TIME?..CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THE TITLES AND ARE THEY FOR SALE?

3-0 out of 5 stars A good solid performance in it's time!
A nicely done show with Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson playing the trio of Joe and Frank Hardy searching for their kidnapped father in Mexico. Former "Dynasty" actress Kimberly Beck does fairly good in her guest starring role(She also dated Shaun Cassidy in real life). A great show for it's second season!A true mystery.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid episode. It can still hold it's own
I enjoyed watching this episode on tape. I watched it a few times,in fact. For me it doesn't seem completely outdated, unlike other tv series that suddenly become outdated as soon as 5 years later. When I can I want to order more Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Frank and Joe on Safari
Frank and Joe did a lot of traveling during the second season of The Hardy Boys, and this episode finds them in Kenya. Someone is poaching, and a local official (a member of the Masai tribe and one of the many old friends of Fenton Hardy who the boys run into during the series) is convinced the culprit is Trevor Masters, an old-style "white hunter" who now leads camera safaris. Frank and Joe join the safari and stay at Masters' house, where Frank romances Sarah Masters, played by Anne Lockhart. The clues accumulate slowly, and the boys are handicapped in their search by the long-held animosities and alliances among the local community. Not everyone is as they seem, and Frank and Joe must bring some personal mysteries to light before they can figure out who is slaughtering animals.

Shaun doesn't sing in this episode, but there is an interesting scene of him doing a drum dance with the male star of a group of native performers.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best
This is not a bad episode, but as I said, not one of the more outstanding ones either. If falls sort of to the right of middle-of-the-road. It relies more on personal conflict and tension rather than fast-paced action for interest, so those of you hoping for gleaming knives and ruthless killers, this is not your best choice. Some of its more outstanding qualities are witty dialogue, and of course the inevitable romantic interest, which was better done in this one than in some others I've seen. And yes, there is a scene in which the boys get shot at. Overall, this show lacks a little spice, but if you're the kind who likes it mild go for it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nancy Drew Should Be on DVD!
Nancy Drew was one of my favorite TV shows in the 70's, based on the mystery books for young readers by Carolyn Keene it is about a teenager named Nancy Drew who has a knack for solving mysteries and crimes and stars Pamela Sue Martin (Dynasty) as Nancy. The Secret of the Whispering Walls is my favorite episode and is about Nancy's two elderly aunts who live in an old mansion where some strange events are happening and Nancy with the help of her friends Ned and George investigates. I would love to see this and all of the Nancy Drew episodes put out on DVD especially in a boxset!

4-0 out of 5 stars Groovy Nancy
In 1977, Nancy Drew donned her double-knit pantsuit and set out with her friends George Fayne and Ned Nickerson to solve her very first mystery on television. Millions of girls sat spell-bound in front of their television sets, anxiously waiting to see if Nancy could solve the puzzling incidents in her hometown, River Heights USA.
The Nancy Drew Mysteries television show of the 1970s was saturated in cultural influences. Nancy danced to disco, drove a groovy blue sports car and even teamed up with the Hardy Boys (wearing their leisure suits) to bust crime the 70s way.
Her glamourous adventures included posing as a world-famous professional tennis player, solving mysteries aboard cruise ships and overthrowing counterfeit gangs.
What adventure! What romance! What intrigue!
In this episode, Nancy stays at an old southern mansion complete with hidden passages, cranky neighbors and voices in the walls.
"Secret of the Whispering Walls" is extrememly reminiscent of The Secret of Red Gate Farm, one of the original Nancy Drew Mystery Stories. You might even call it a combination of Red Gate Farm and The Hidden Staircase.
George is a little out of character; she's too much of a fraidy-cat when it comes to investigating.
Despite it's shortcomings, this episode is one of my favorites.

5-0 out of 5 stars FOR HUGE DREW/HARDYS FANS, BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been obsessively collecting Hardy Boys books since Day 1 and I like N. Drew, too. This is a great one and any Hardys/Drew fan will love it! One would think this is corny, but it really is well done and not the least bit corny.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Beginning To A Highly-Memorable TV Series!
"Fear In A Desert City" represents the premiere episode of one of the finest television dramas ever to grace the small screen -- "The Fugitive", starring David Janssen as "Dr. Richard Kimble", the physician who was falsely accused of murdering his wife, Helen (played a few times during the series by the lovely actress Diane Brewster, who also portrayed "Beaver" Cleaver's first school teacher, "Miss Canfield", in another Classic TV series, "Leave It To Beaver").

This debut episode of "The Fugitive" is a winner in my book. It features Brian Keith and Vera Miles as the primary guest stars -- both of whom are terrific in their roles here (particularly Keith, who is savagely menacing and brutal, to the point of being downright scary).

The picture and sound quality on this VHS video are pretty good. One of the things that might stand out boldly to those who watch this video for the first time is its relatively-lengthy running time: 49 minutes. As is fairly evident from this run time, TV shows back in the 1960s featured several fewer minutes of annoying commercial interruptions -- meaning longer episode lengths for shows like "The Fugitive". I think it's safe to say that this VHS version of "Fear In A Desert City" contains the complete, uncut program (as originally aired in 1963).

SOME "FUGE FACTS", SERIES' INFO, AND TRIVIA ------------

>> Kimble's first alias was "James Lincoln" (used in this pilot episode).

>> "Fear In A Desert City" was first broadcast (on ABC-TV) on Tuesday night, September 17, 1963 (at 10:00 PM, Eastern Time).

>> "The Fugitive" lasted for four fabulous seasons (1963-1967), with a total of 120 episodes aired. (The first three seasons were broadcast in Black-and-White; while the fourth and final season was shown in "Living Color". A little bit of "edge" and atmosphere were lost during the final color campaign, IMO. But, still, many first-rate episodes are included during the final year as well.)

>> Dr. Kimble saves the life of Lt. Philip Gerard, the man desperately attempting to re-capture Kimble, in FIVE separate episodes during the series' four years on the air. One show, in fact, has Kimble TWICE rescuing Gerard from near-certain death! While the frequent life-saving episodes during the series are indeed a tad on the unrealistic side, they did offer up some of the best dramatic moments in the series.

>> The character of Philip Gerard (played to perfection by Barry Morse) actually appeared in only 38 of the 120 episodes during the series (not counting the opening credits, during which he's always shown). Although it "seemed" like he was in many more. Gerard's "presence" is felt in nearly every episode however. But in most of the shows he's not physically shown on camera.

>> The "one-armed man" was played by Bill Raisch, who really did have one arm missing. He lost part of his right arm during World War II, after being badly burned while fighting a fire.

If you're a big fan (or even a casual fan) of "The Fugitive", I'd recommend picking up this VHS video containing the outstanding premiere episode. I'd also recommend the "companion book", entitled "The Fugitive Recaptured" (by Ed Robertson). That volume contains a complete episode guide, with very detailed information on every show, including an abundance of interesting trivia and photographs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kimble Starts to Run
The first episode of THE FUGITIVE, FEAR IN A DESERT CITY, established what was to be a successful formula for the next four seasons. Doctor Richard Kimble is accused of his wife's murder. He knows that a one-armed man is the culprit, but can't prove it. He is tried, found guilty, and sentenced to die in the electric chair. On route to the death house, he escapes from Lieutenant Philip Gerard, who then spends much of the next four years chasing a doctor who is similarly chasing his quarry. At the start of this initial episode, the sonorous narration of William Conrad informs the audience of this background information. Kimble, who now calls himself Jim Lincoln, rides a bus into Tucson, Arizona, and finds work as a bartender. He strikes up a relation with Monica Welles, played by Vera Miles, only to find that his anonymity is threatened when her rich but crazy ex-husband stalks her and wonders at the temerity of a drifter to dare date the ex-wife of a local powerful and influential citizen. The plot revolves around Kimble's helping Monica to escape from her ex.
This episode established the basic persona of pursuer and pursued. Kimble is the good doctor yanked out of his comfortable life, with the audience wondering whether he can regain that life. Barry Morse as Lt.Gerard is the policeman who trails him with a monomania that does not become clearer until future episodes. It is David Janssen's tremendous acting that made this show a monster hit. His interpretation of Richard Kimble suggests a controlled fear that is never absent. Kimble simply cannot permit himself the luxury of a relationship. When he does, the result is often to expose him to danger. Every time, I saw Kimble impacting on others, I knew that I was seeing how one bright but faceless man kept his hopes up to reclaim a life that I knew one day would return. This was a terrific first episode that hooked an audience for four more years.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's On!!
What an auspicious beginning for a TV classic! Richard
Kimble (David Janssen) takes up in Tucson, AZ where he becomes a bartender. He befriends and courts a nightclub singer (Vera Miles) who is married to a mean, abusive husband (Brian Keith). Keith is splendid as the possessive,
drunken Ed Welles with the friends and the funds to deflect criticism.

Kimble tries to lay low and avoid any attention which would attract the police and ultimately, Lt. Gerard, played by Barry Morse. Welles alerts the police about Kimble and an investigation ensues. Kimble is genuinely shaken afterwards in a manner which sets the tone for the entire series. Kimble decides to leave Tucson after confessing
to Welles wife, leading to a final confrontation with the enraged husband.

Gerard makes a brief appearance and Kimble talks about
the trial to Welles wife. These issues would be covered in later episodes. The pilot has a rare ongoing narration of Kimble's mindset by William Conrad.

This episode - and others to follow - depict a Janssen who
occasionally seems ill at ease and self conscious in front of the camera. At times he even underdelivers lines. If was as if Janssen was unsure of himself and his abilities. He had no reason to be. For Janssen and this show were about to become an enduring fixture on the television landscape. Check it out and you'll see why this series had many imitations but one indelible premise.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Chase Begins!
This episode beings it all. We see Doctor Richard Kimble step off the bus to Tucson, Arizona just six months after the fated train crash. He stays at a hotel and gets a job at the Branded Barhouse as a bartender where he befriends a pianist woman who is abused by her husband played by Brian Keith. Keith comes into the bar regualry for his scotch and soda and gets into arguments with Kimble also know in this episode as James Lincoln. Don't want to tell you more because you have to see this classic episode. This episode is great because this is the first episode of the best series of all time. You can find an actor as serious as David Janssen anymore. This episode is a must for series collectors. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Ham on Wry
Charles Laughton always gave acting his all; whether in high-budget epic or programmer, slumming or rising to the occasion, he remains extremely watchable. THE STRANGE DOOR is third-rate Universal melodramatic claptrap, not really horror, but it's worth a look to watch the portly Brit devour the scenery (and, in one scene unhappily reminiscent of his glory days as Henry VIII, a roast joint). Karloff isn't given much to do, except look menacing and lumber around unconvincingly in a couple of action scenes, and Sally Forrest shows why she didn't do many period films. Laughton, slaughtering French and co-stars alike with an air of wry self-amusement, is the whole show here. ... Read more

A must-have for Bewitched fans, this tape contains two of the series' most significant episodes: the pilot and Tabatha's birth. On their wedding night, Samantha confesses to Darrin (Dick York) that she's a witch. She vows to refrain from using her talents, but at a dinner party thrown by Darrin's ex-girlfriend, she can't resist spicing up the evening. In the second episode, Elizabeth Montgomery does double duty as Samantha and her cousin Serena. But it's Samantha's mother, Endora (delightfully overplayed by Agnes Moorehead), who takes center stage, making Tabatha's birth memorable not just for her parents but for the bewildered Nurse Kelton (guest star Eve Arden) as well. What's most enchanting about these episodes now is their evocation of a simpler time, when a sitcom wife's deepestsecret was her ability to transform things with a twitch of her nose and a new father's biggest worry was that his little girl would grow up too quickly. --Larisa Lomacky Moore ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Classic episodes of a timeless series
"Bewitched" would have to be one of the most beloved series to ever grace our television and with its superb casting, great writing, imaginative premise, and sheer likeability it continues to enchant and entertain viewers long after more supposedly "realistic" series are forgotten.

The special magic (no pun intended) of "Bewitched" lay in the performers who regularly appeared on the show throughout its eight seasons on prime time television. Elizabeth Montgomery was born to play the part of the lovely witch Samantha and rarely has a role been better suited to a performer than here. Combined with such gifted performers as Dick York as husband Darrin, Agnes Moorehead as the interfering mother-in-law Endora (in a classic performance) and Marion Lorne, Paul Lynde, and David White among many gifted others, the show was blessed with talent in abundance. Never has this talent been so much on show as in the 1967 to 1968 fourth season of the program when "Bewitched", really peaked and in this video we are lucky to have three of the best episodes from that season for our enjoyment. "No Zip in my Zap"' "Allergic to Macedonian Dodo Birds", and finally "Samantha's Thanksgiving to Remember" are all wonderful in their own different ways and really show the diverse talents of this marvellous cast.

"Zap" tells the story of Samantha losing her powers and Darrin (wrongly) thinking that she is spying on him by turning herself into a fly while he visits a new female client who also happens to be an old beau from his school days. This episode features the wonderful chemistry of Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York and was really well ahead of its time by featuring a high profile manager of a company who happens to be a woman with young children. "Macedonian Dodo", is one of the great classic episodes of the series and features an absolutely hilarious and scene stealing performance by the wonderful Agnes Moorehead at her wicked best. Here we find Endora losing her powers from her contact with a rare Dodo bird and her powers being transferred to the lovable but bumbling Aunt Clara who's powers were failing and was famous on the show for getting her spells mixed up. The scenes in this episode of Endora literally driving poor Darrin beserk with her helpless act and still failing to get his name right are absolutely priceless and help explain why "Bewitched", won such acclaim for its acting performances in the 1960's. This episode is the highlight of the tape and is worth seeing on its own. The last episode on the tape is the one and only Thanksgiving episode filmed on the show and again involves the hapless Aunt Clara who when visiting Samantha and Darrin at Thanksgiving unintentionally zaps the whole family plus nosy neighbour Mrs. Kravitz back to the first Thanksgiving at Plymouth . The times being what they are witches are routinely burned and ironically its Darrin who finds himeslf being accused of being a witch when he lights a fire with a match! Samantha's wonderful speech at the trial regarding tolerance and respect for people's differences provides food for thought even now and was definately one of the most special moments in the entire run of "Bewitched".

These three episodes make wonderful viewing and show off "Bewitched", at its very best, full of laughs, warm sentimental moments and as a jog to our way of thinking about how we should really treat each other. It's those very qualities that make "Bewitched", as entertaining today as it was back in the 1960's. I never tire of watching this program and it's the cast and their exceptional talents that keep me coming back for more. Enjoy the magical delight of three of the very best episodes of this classic series "Bewitched".

4-0 out of 5 stars This Is a Grand Video!
This video contains three very good episodes of Bewitched, one of my personal all-time favorite TV series. Two of them involve the unbelievably funny, bumbling Aunt Clara. In the first episode, on Thanksgiving Day Aunt Clara decides to go back to the very first Thanksgiving at Plymouth Rock, and she accidentally takes the whole family with her. The family poses as Pilgrims and, in a beautifully ironically twist, Darrin is accused of being a witch. In the second episode, the series was somewhat ahead of its time in the 1960's by facing the issue of Darrin and Larry feeling somewhat uncomfortable with having a client who is a woman. In the last episode, which is truly hilarious, Endora is allergic to dodo birds, which causes her to lose her powers, and her magnificent powers are transferred to the normally bumbling Aunt Clara. The great talent of the late Agnes Moorehead certainly stands out in this episode. If you are a devoted Bewitched fan, you will definitely enjoy this video.

5-0 out of 5 stars Three classic episodes from the under-appreciated sitcom
"Generation Zap" features a trio of classic sit com episodes from the fourth season of "Bewitched." (1) In "Samantha's Thanksgiving to Remember" (Episode #119, November 23, 1967), Aunt Clara's inadvertently (of course) sends the Stephenses back to the Pilgrim's first Thanksgiving in Plymouth. Unfortunately, this is the Plymouth where they Pilgrims are interested in burning witches. Ironically, the visitor they go after is Darrin. One of the most interesting parts of this episode is when it gets a bit serious and Samantha speaks out against prejudice during Darrin's trial. (2) "No Zip in My Zap" (Episode #113, October 12, 1967), finds that Darrin has a new account and Samantha has lost her powers. The twist is that McMann & Tate's new client turns out to be a woman, and Darrin and Larry have a hard time dealing with this. However, not as hard a time as Samantha is having trying to do simple things like put plates back together. There might be lots of social consciousness in these first two episodes, but then we get to (3) the classic "Allergic to Macedonian Dodo Birds" (#118, November 16, 1967), with the wonderful performance of the great Agnes Moorhead. Endora loses all her power after coming into contact with the giant Dodo Bird, which transfers all of her magical power to Aunt Clara. Unable to raise a coffee pot (with her hand) let alone rise from her sick bed, Endora still proves she can make "Derwood" miserable and Darrin's initial glee over his mother-in-law's plight is soon dashed. Meanwhile, it is Aunt Clara who proves to finally have the upper hand with Endora. These are three excellent episodes from this Sixties sit com that is as beloved as it is under-appreciated. That is only because some critics want to ignore the fact that the witch married to the mortal on "Bewitched" is being played by a very talent actress, Elizabeth Montgomery.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bewitched!
This video contains 3 of the best episodes of that great TV show, "Bewitched". See why this show was ahead of its time with "Samantha's Thanksgiving to Remember" (but that one actually goes back in time) and "No Zip in my Zap". "Allergic to Macedonian Dodo Birds" is also very funny. Awesome acting, fun stories, and great script make this a video to treasure.

3-0 out of 5 stars Heart touching & still missing true historic Wilder story
I always loved Little House and from time to time love to jump back in time to once again watch the series. What is sad is this story is so focused on Almanzos sister, it should be called Almanzos sisters sacrafice. It also is far from the actual historical events in Laura Ingalls Wilders life. I found that the story was very much writen as Landon wanted it to go. Not as how it should have gone from history. I found it disappointing with the Wedding scene almost non-existant and poorly done. The story was enjoyable most of the times however and only would recommend if you're familiar with the series on tv. If not I would say pass.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Like the Books, the TV Show and The TV Movies!
I was nine years old when one of my favorite television shows Little House on the Prairie first aired on TV and I grew up watching it with my family. I'm a fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder, both the real one who wrote the books the television show is based on and the character from the show played by Melissa Gilbert and I loved when they brought in Dean Butler to play Almonzo Wilder, he and Melissa had some wonderful chemistry that made the marriage of Laura and Almonzo believable. Yes the show made some changes from the books and not everything that happened in the show for Laura and Almanzo are in the books and though Laura's sister Mary did go blind I don't think she ever got married so Adam I believe was a totally fictional character and I don't know if if the real Laura's parents ever adopted a boy named Albert but I still like the show anyway and I highly recommend it! The TV show now has at least four seasons that are on DVD and I'm hoping to buy the DVD complete seasons someday.

5-0 out of 5 stars far from the truth!
i am an avid little house on the prairie fan! both the television show and the real life books and articles i have read about the ingalls family. i was very dissapointed when i read in an article that the events in the television show are far from what really happened in her books and real life. for example, yes mary did go blind but there was never any such man as adam, who in the video become her teacher and later her husband. they built a whole story line about mary and "adam". come to find out there is no "adam". when mary became blind she lived the rest of her life with pa and ma sitting in a rocking chair letting her life whittle away.

2-0 out of 5 stars Love Wilder, can't stand Landon's schmaltz & ego
Sorry to dissent from the fan-fest for LHOTP lovers, but I just can't take the schmaltz that Michael Landon put into these movies, especially in the later years. Worse, he deviated so far from the original stories that the characters and situations are unrecognizable. The first movie (where is it? Out of print? It's the only one true to the books and without a weepfest every 15 minutes!!)was good, and I watched the series religiously as a child, but my gosh, Landon turned the later years into male bonding sob fests. Alfred (nonexistant in books!) becomes a major character, and he and Pa get most of the attention...I guess I'm a minority viewpoint, but don't mistake these made for TV movies for a Laura Ingalls Wilder experience. Read the books. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I spell fun H-A-R-D-Y B-O-Y-S
I am giving this review four stars because my only caveat is that you never get to hear a full Shaun Cassidy song. You hear enough to tease you into buying whatever album of his was hot in the seventies, but not the whole thing. This show is as much fun as Scooby Doo (and that's a compliment). Both Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy displayed a laid back, easy pairing that transcended the not-so-challenging scripts. They are just fun to watch, and when you get to hear some of that great bubble gum pop Shaun sang so well, you have a show that shines as bright as that lava lamp collecting dust in your attic. Do I like this show? I da doo run run.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Trip Down Memory Lane!
I enjoyed being able to see Shaun Cassidy sing again. It brought back precious memories. The Hardy Boys was my favorite show as a child. It's sometimes hard to believe that over 20 years have passed since that time. If you like Shaun's singing, this is the video for you! It has different songs, including Da Doo Ron Ron, That's Rock 'N Roll, and Holiday (which I had forgotten about and hadn't heard since I was a child). It's a great video for Cassidy fans everywhere!

4-0 out of 5 stars A must for Shaun Cassidy fans!
If you've seen the 70's series, you know that they all look pretty cheesy in the light of a 90's day. But if you love cheese, and you love Shaun Cassidy, this one is a must-have, because it's one of the handful of episodes in which Shaun sings! This one features "Da Doo Ron Ron", "That's Rock and Roll", as well as chunks of "Holiday" and "Wanna Be With You". I take off one star just because of the over-all cheese factor. Otherwise, it's a keeper! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hail, Samantha, Queen of the Witches!
From day one Darrin Stevens had been trying to get his wife Samantha to stop using her powers as a witch. Well, at the start of the fourth season of "Bewitched" the show upped the ante as Sam became the Queen of the Witches. In "Long Live the Queen" (Episode #108, September 7, 1967), Tichiba, Queen of the Witches, abdicates the throne and chooses Sam to succeed her. Of course, Sam wants to refuse before Darrin finds out, but Endora pushes her to accept. Surprise, surprise, Sam gets Darrin to agree and then the fun begins. After Sam's coronation the Stevens house is invaded by all sorts of animals and animated objects, all witches and warlocks who had been changed by Tichiba for various offenses. Meanwhile, Mr. Rohrbach, who is considering hiring McMahon & Tate, stops by the house to check out Darrin's home life before forking over his million dollar account. Wackiness ensues in this episode written by Ed Jurist. Actually, I was surprised that Darrin agreed to go along with Sam being Queen of the Witches for a year. Lord, what power those mortal scribes have over television characters.

In "It's So Nice to Have a Spouse Around the House" (Episode #145, October 24, 1968), we are a year into the grand experiment and Samantha has to preside over a meeting of the Witches Council. She agrees and gets Serena to take her spot at home while she goes off to the meeting and for some reason she thinks that this might actually work. Lord, what fools these witches be. Endora takes Tabitha to the Zoo after she recognizes Serena and Larry advise Darrin to make up with his wife by taking her on a second honeymoon. Of course, as Darrin whisks "Sam" off to the Moonthatch Inn, Serena starts to panic. Actually, I always liked this episode, written by Barbara Avendon, because it actually has Samantha and Darrin being romantic. Usually the frantic comedy shenanigans make you forget that there is a love story going on and while there were few tender and touching moments on "Bewitched," this episode has one of them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
Bewitched is one of the best sitcom's and this video has some of the highlights. Could do with having a longer tape though..more episodes please.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will Darrin Ever learn?
Episodes include: LONG LIVE THE QUEEN...in which Samantha is tagged to be Queen of the Witches and Darrin to be turned into a doormat & IT`S SO NICE TO HAVE A SPOUSE AROUND THE HOUSE... when Darrin unknowingly takes Serena, on a second honeymoon meant for Samantha. Classic Bewitched with the original Darrin. LOVED IT! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Included on the Complete Season set!
In a very unclear and probably intentionally confusing marketing move, this and all of the other "2-hour TV special" Little House DVDs being released separated are actually included on the Complete Season box sets being released by the same company. I purchased three of these "specials" before realizing that they were all 2-part episodes to be found on the complete season sets. While I don't have a problem with these 2-part shows being released separately, I don't understand the need for it and I really, really wish that it would be made clear somewhere on the packaging. Considering that these single disc releases have no special features, this is the worst example of DVD "double dipping" I've seen in a long time!!

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful
This is, as always, a great addition to the "Little House" series and consistently delivers that same inspiring message of family, faith, and love. The basic storyline follows Charles Ingalls' struggle to cope with his mother's death and, even more so, the emotional decline in his father. Charles finally manages to bring him home to the family, hoping it will help. Indeed, spending time with everyone--especially little Laura--works wonders in rebuilding the man's spirit until Laura gets into an accident with her horse and blames her grandfather for it. Feeling guilty and disgusted with himself, Grandpa takes off without telling anyone, but in the end it is Laura who accepts her own mistake and takes up the struggle to bring him back.

Some fans may be disappointed with the way the episode ends, but it is still a wonderful story that makes you feel good and is worth the money. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars 2 Episodes: RK Gets Help in Each
This video contains one episode from the first season, FLIGHT FROM THE FINAL DEMON and one from the second, CRY UNCLE. Both are quality episodes with each revealing varying aspects of Kimble's personality. In FFFD, Kimble is apprehended while working in a health club, but gets help from a fellow worker, played convincingly by Ed Nelson. Steve Edson (Nelson) helps Kimble only because he is the obverse of the fugitive. He is a guilty man who at his trial was found innocent, and his conscience bothers him to the point that he wants to be caught. During Kimble's and his flight from the law, Edson keeps dropping clues as to their whereabouts. What is of interest to viewers is that for the first time, Kimble verbalizes what many would be lam artists might need to know: the many 'tricks' that a fugitive needs to know to avoid capture. Carroll O'Connor, in his pre-ALL IN THE FAMILY DAYS, is convincing as the pursuing sheriff. CRY UNCLE is the better of the two. At the start of the show, Kimble seeks refuge in an orphanage and two boys suspect that he is a fugitive, and Kimble must use his natural affinity for children that he had shown in previous episodes to convince them not to turn him in. Ronny Howard of THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW and Donald Losby, who played Mark Welles in the series' opener FEAR IN A DESERT CITY, play the two boys. The only way for Kimble as Pat Thomas to explain his presence is for him to pose as Sean's (Losby) uncle. At first, Sean is unruly and seeks only to kick back at a world that has smacked him around since birth. Kimble seems like a perfect target, one who must obey him or risk being turned over to the police. But ever so slowly, Kimble's inherent goodness teaches him that not all adults are evil, and that if he is to advance in the world, he must learn to trust others. And this is one of the subtle subtexts that appear in many of the shows. Trust can appear in the most unexpected of places, and when it does, that person ought to let it grow.

5-0 out of 5 stars suspense & drama at their best

4-0 out of 5 stars hardy boys in egypt
although shaun does not sing in this video, it is still pretty good. you find yourself saying to yourself don't do that guys! it really draws you in.

5-0 out of 5 stars King Tut's Tomb - Frank and Joe in Egypt
When Frank succeeds in recapturing a purse snatched in an Egyptian bazaar, he is mystified when the owner, a lovely American girl, refuses to take it back. Instead, she pushes the key to her hotel room into his hands and asks him to meet her there later. When he and Joe open the purse they find what appears to be a priceless artifact, which has almost certainly been stolen. That evening at the hotel, they don't find the purse's owner, they find the street urchin who'd stolen the purse (who escapes again), and then the police - who confiscate their passports.

This is a great mystery, and contains some highly unusual moments for the Hardy Boys. Frank and Joe don't usually deliberately intimidate pretty girls in their hotel rooms. Would Frank *really* bash all Helene's teeth out? Is Joe's inspired rant about how much he hates Texas just an act? And Parker sings!

This is also the episode in which the boys compare themselves to Redford and Newman in "The Sting" - which is an amusing sequence.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Hardy Boys in Egypt...What could be better?
As a "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" fan, I found this video to be a real treat! It features the Hardy Boys in an exotic, mystery filled location and throws in some 1970's disco to boot! I especially enjoyed the inclusion of the original intro to the program followed by the announcement "Tonight on the Hardy Boys.." This video is great for those who love 1970's nostalgia. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best
I have 4 Nancy Drew movies. I think this was like 3rd or 4th one I watched and It's one of my favs. It has a great plot. You'd never guess who the culprit was. I thought it was someone else. I was wrong. Great twist at the end!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the better Nancy Drew episodes
It's too bad there aren't more of these. You have to like the title, as the Nancy Drew book series has always been written by a succession of ghostwriters. Pamela Sue Martin is great as Nancy: she does a good job of being inquisitive and persistent without being irritating, and she handles annoying characters with finesse. When the mystery author she is accompanying on a cruise gets cryptic death threats, nothing can be proven so of course it's up to Nancy to solve the case. They do a nice job of making it spooky, like when Nancy and the author are walking the deck at night through fog, searching for the source of an eerie, echoing voice. At another point, the ship is threatened by a tidal wave. With Pamela having done "Poseidon Adventure," the director must have had to resist an impulse to have her look at the camera and say, "Not again." I also like how they keep you guessing who the culprit is from among their shipmates, unlike some other episodes where the audience knows what's going on before Nancy figures it out. It's fun to relive the days when, for a very short time, creepy-but-innocent entertainment featured not an older gal like Angela Lansbury, but a beautiful young woman.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Love Boat was never this Dangerous
Ever Sunday night I would rush home to watch the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. Parker Stevenson and shaun Cassidy were the Hardys,Pamela Su Martin protrayed our favorite girl Detecive Nancy. This video "Nancy Drew and the Ghostwriter's Cruise" is the best in the series. Nancy and her friend George are traveling with world famous mystery writer John Addams and his niece Cathy aboard a cruise ship Nancy soon discover this trip is not going to be all fun in the sun.Te writer soon becomes the victim of several attempts on his life. Someone wants Mr. Addams to live at his first novel and rewrite the ending so there is no sequel.I alwayed enjoyed reading the Nancy Drew books and the television series was able to bring life to this exciting and intelligent detevice character. Pamela Sue Martin is great in the role and the supporting cast are also wondeful. Buy this tape and you will not regrat it.
