An elite U.S. counter-terrorism squad loses a member while decimating half of Paris in the reckless pursuit of Middle Eastern maniacs; a Broadway actor with a traumatic childhood secret is naturally hired to replace him. Oh--and they're all marionettes. South Park maestros Trey Parker and Matt Stone (along with co-writer Pam Brady) came up with this shameless satire of pea-brained Hollywood action flicks and even smaller-minded global politics, so don't expect subtlety or even a hint of good taste. Team America is soon on the trail of North Korea's evil Kim Jong Il, who treats us to a tender song about his loneliness before ensnaring Alec Baldwin and the rest of the oblivious Film Actors Guild (F.A.G. for short) in a plot to blow up every major city on the planet. Just as the mindless squad cheerfully demolishes everything in sight, so do director Parker and company. Throwing punches Left, Right, and in-between, the movie's politics leave no turn un-stoned; there's even time to bludgeon the musical Rent. It's offensive, irresponsible comic anarchy seemingly made by sniggering little boys. Painfully funny sniggering little boys.--Steve Wiecking ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than expected
I have mixed opinions on Trey Parker's movies.

I love Cannibal the Musical.

I thought the South Park movie was boring and tame compared to the TV show. I am already not much of a South Park fan (except for the hilarious Mr. Hanky The Christmas Poo episode) but the movie didn't go very far into outrageousness as the TV show did.

Orgazmo is a film I could take or leave.

Baseketball was just plain awful.

Trey Parker was funny in the uneven Tales From the Crapper (A Troma not Trey Parker film).

I didn't know what to expect with this but it is now by far my favorite Trey Parker related film.

When this film came out, I heard an interview on the Drudge Report and learned that Trey Parker and Matt Stone are extreme conservatives, as I am also. They said they most agreed with the Libertarian party which I do as well.

My assumptions before then were that Parker and Stone were probably liberals and that a film on the war on terror would be from that perspective. Luckily, my assumptions were wrong.

This movie really appeals to me for the fact that the villains in this film are the Socialist Hollywood Leftists (who are being used by North Korean Leader Kim Jong Il). It is great seeing the Michael Moore puppet holding hot dogs in both his hands and mustard stains on his shirt presented as a suicide bomber against America.

The only criticism I have of this Unrated DVD is the additional puppet sex scenes not in the theaters. In this version not only do the puppets have all kinds of sexual acts and positions but they also urinate and defecate on each other. I am all for pushing the limits to extremes on unrated director's cuts but in my opinion, it was out of character for the two Team America members that had fallen in love. If Parker and Stone really wanted to push bad taste by showing puppet scat sex, I feel they should have worked it in someplace else in an unrelated scene. Maybe by expanding the Michael Moore puppet's role a little?

The puppets are absolutely incredible looking as well as the sets. This movie is also a full blown action movie (seriously) and was designed in the same way as a full-blown action movie would be by Bill Pope who did the same for the (hugely overrated) Matrix movies. The only difference being the scale of the sets, "actors". etc. A lot about this and the main techniques are presented in the extra features of the DVD.

It is also full of Trey Parker songs which also even top those in Cannibal the Musical. We even have Kim Jong Il singing a sentimental song of how he is "ronery" (lonely).

I also thought the speech on the 3 types of people was exceptionally funny. You will need to watch to learn more about this.

Watch this movie. Great humor, songs, action, puppets.

If you hate the Socialist Hollywood Left, you will especially appreciate this movie!

4-0 out of 5 stars Uncalled for and Crude but....Hilarious
The creators of South Parkdo it again and make one of the crudest and funniest movies you'll see. Not sure how Roger Ebert or anyone could just dismiss it with one star. It makes fun of politics and celebrities and pretty much everything else. They even turn Matt Damon into a moron that can just say....Matt Damon. I'm a Matt Damon fan but when he did that it always got me to laugh out loud. Plus they turn Alec Baldwin into the world's greatest actor that no one can out act.

I never thought a movie with puppets could be so damn funny. Even the song (Pearl Harbor Sucked but I love you) was pretty funny. Well the song went something like that. The song knocks Ben Afflick's acting skills. Even the Team America theme song is uncalled for. "America "F" YEAH!" It also offers a crude and disgusting but also hilarious sex scene. Plus there's one of the grossest longest puke scenes in the history of film. It goes on so long that it even made me start to feel sick. Still I was laughing while feeling sick.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Team America"....f*ck yes.
Alot of people will dig this movie. It's accessable to mainstream audiences whether or not they get beyond the surface humor that might have linked "Team America" back to "Basketball", but it's also damn smart on so many different levels. There's the obvious connotations of the marionettes, but they've done so much more than strip bare the Hollywood blockbusters that too many people can watch with a straight face while the rest of us stand outside the theater gagging; they've displayed the cheesiness that seeped out of michael bay movies into the modern American mentallity. During no other 20th century war has cliche fiction had so many striking similarities to our hero-enemy soap opera ideas of what liberty is. But is the patriotism of the right really reminiscent of the hot blooded Reagan-era action flicks this film spoofs? Is the media role-playing of the left the result of Hollywood refusing to leave childish namecalling and immature ideology to elementary school playgrounds? Well, it's never seemed so familiar and never felt so much like there's been a mudslinging contest with the tactics and wit of a simple puppet show going on right under our noses.

2-0 out of 5 stars "From the Guys who brought you SouthPark"...
That says it all right there, if you are unfamiliar with the now infamous landmark of the Comedy Central channel on cable, 'Southpark' are basically poorly drawn children characters that curse and make bodily function jokes at each other all day. The aim of it's creators is to basically smash every barrier of good taste and offend every group in society that they can, but where do you go from there? Team America functions along the same lines. The puppets in here are amazingly filmed, and I would recommend you see the way they look on screen. However, only see this film if you are a liberal and have a healthy sense of humor. There are a lot of infantile jokes, gross out humor and some very, very offensive material, often in poor taste. There's plenty of harsh language and this film is definitely not for children. I don't offend easily, but I even turned away during the puppet making love scene, in which they mimic all sexual positions and then go too far I feel, in showing the puppets deficate and urinate on each other. The premise of the film is obviously poking fun at Bush and the war on terror and a thinly veiled way of saying that we often poke our nose in other countries affairs. No one is left unoffended in this film. I would mainly say that if you like that Southpark
type of humor, this is your film. If that type of humor offends you, stay far away from this film.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disgusting!
I thought this movie was going to be very funny, but I should have known better, being created by the people of south park. This was one of the worst things I have ever seen. The movie was filthy, the language grotesque, extremely perverse and total garbage!
The creators, producers and anyone involved in this movie should be extremely ashamed of themselves.
This movie should have been rated X or XXX.
If this is your version of what America should be then i feel terribly sorry for you.
Even if this IS your type of movie, it wasn't even funny.
Don't subject yourself to watching this blight on humanity.

South Park cocreator Trey Parker goes straight for the gross-out humor in this live-action farce set in the adult-movie industry.Parker stars as an innocent Mormon kid who gets sucked into the world of pornographic filmmaking and becomes an international sensation as the porno superhero Orgazmo, all the while hiding his secret life from his milk-fed fiancée. It's practically a one-man show for Parker, who directs, writes, stars, and even performs the self-penned theme song as frontman for his rock band, and perhaps he should have spread the responsibilities a little. As an actor he's surprisingly appealing--his dazed grin and bleached white surfer-dude hair give him an engaging air of innocence (he can also be seen, just as innocently endearing, in the sports farce BASEketball). Paired with longtime crony Dian Bachar, the diminutive actor who plays his superhero sidekick Chodo Boy, they bring a Hardy Boys naiveté to the rude world of mobbed-up producers and jaded adult film stars. But the film is only fitfully funny, with vulgar jokes that are often more disgusting than humorous and clumsy comic timing sabotaging promising scenes. Only rarely does it reach the heights of his hilarious cutout cartoon series, but when he delivers he does so with the carefully cultivated tasteless excess his fans have come to know and love. Matt Stone costars as a clueless photographer and adult film star; Ron Jeremy appears as a gross gangster henchman. --Sean Axmaker ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the funniest movies you will ever see!
I had to search to find this movie when it was released to theaters in October 1998 because of the limited release due to the MPAA's NC-17 rating. It was well worth all the struggle to get to it. I am a huge fan of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. I thought "BASEketball" and "Cannibal! The Musical" was hilarious. But when I walked out of the theater from "Orgazmo", my stomach muscles literally hurt from all the laughing I did. This is one of the funniest movies you'll ever see. It is about Joe Young (Parker), a Mormon Missionary who gets pulled into the porno industry to try to earn money for his upcoming nuptuals. He is the porno superhero, Orgazmo, and he becomes a big hit. I don't want to tell you too much, but don't miss seeing this movie. I am buying it at full price. I don't want to wait and you won't either!

5-0 out of 5 stars Is this available in DVDA?
Trey Parker and Matt Stone. You either love them or you hate them. Back when South Park was just a few bits of cardboard lying around a bong-filled apartment, the guys paid the bills by making this movie. And it's pure comic genius! With sight gags and one-liners everywhere, this movie demands repeated viewing, and soon you'll be quoting classic lines such as "I am Sancho", "I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin', but I think Depeche Mode are a sweet band" and "Stuntcock!" in your sleep.
The movie follows Joe Young (Trey Parker), a young Mormon missionary to L.A., who becomes [pulled] into the porn industry one sunny afternoon while out trying to convert the heathens. He justifies this career change, as the money he earns will go toward a wedding in the Temple in Salt Lake with his "Cupcake" ("Why does the church make it so expensive to get married in the Temple?"). Hilarity ensues as a cast of pornographers (including cameos from real life skin-stars such as Ron Jeremy and Chasey Lain), racketeers and rocket scientists combine to make the movie-within-a-movie (also called Orgazmo) "the cross-over success of the decade!" (a jump cut reveals it to be the highest grossing film of all time behind Jurassic Park). But can Joe extricate himself from the sequel he's under contract to make? Will Choda-boy ever use his "hamster style" again? How can they defeat the evil A-cup/Neutered Man? Will G-fresh sign over his sushi bar to developers? And what will happen when Cupcake rolls into town? I guess you'll just have to watch it to find out...
This film is criminally under-appreciated, and hopefully, with the success of South Park, more people will be encouraged to discover the delights of the Parker/Stone back catalogue. If you're a fan of South Park, Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker or the Farrely brothers, I promise you will not be disappointed. "Oh, wait..Daddy's here to take me to choir practise. Jesus and I love you..."

5-0 out of 5 stars I don't want to hurt you.
Easily one of the most hilarious, mormon out of water features ever made.

Better than snifffing gloo. More edgy than a torus.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hamster Style Forever!!!
(...)this movie is pretty sweet. Where else can you get Kung-fu, Porn, & Mormon Missionaries. This is the best movie ever it is so funny & has a heart. I think Trey Parker is a genius & he is pretty hot too. Plus Matt Stone's performance as Dave the Lighting Guy is the best. I can't wait till this dvd comes out so I can see all the special features. Drunken commentary rules!

4-0 out of 5 stars Lewd, irreverent, daring, and - most of all - hilarious
The careers of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creative geniuses behind South Park (the funniest, most daring, satirically sharp-witted television show in history), actually go back farther than many fans are probably aware. In 1997, not long before South Park premiered and became an instant phenomenon, Trey Parker gave the world a new superhero: Orgazmo. He wrote, directed, starred in, and even sang the opening song to this film. Matt Stone puts in a hilarious performance of his own in a relatively minor role, but this is clearly Trey Parker's baby. Most actors would run screaming from anyone who so much as mentioned the fact they appeared in a film as crude and ridiculous as Orgazmo; Parker, of course, embraces this sort of weird, over-the-top, controversial humor, and his singular daring and utter shamelessness in the interests of making people laugh are the keys to making a movie such as this work so amazingly well. Naturally, the standard Parker-Stone rules apply, so let it be known that anyone who is easily offended will not enjoy this brand of comedy. As for the state of Utah, I doubt you can even find a copy of Orgazmo anywhere.

Trey Parker plays Joe Young, a clean-cut Mormon nearing the end of his proscribed time of mission work, looking forward to the day he can leave Los Angeles to return home to his fiancé and get married in the Mormon Tabernacle - if, that is, he can somehow earn enough money to pay for it. As luck would have it, an adult movie is being filmed in one of the houses he visits; a bunch of big guys, unappreciative of the spiritual zeal of the Mormon faithful, deal with him rather roughly, and he basically goes Mormon Karate Kid on them. The director, having seen the fight, insists that Young play the role of the superhero Orgazmo in the film he is shooting. Young doesn't really want to have anything to do with this type of movie, but he reluctantly agrees to do it for three reasons: 1) he could make enough money to give his fiancé the wedding she wants, 2) he doesn't think anyone will ever find out (he is a masked hero), and 3) he has a no penetration clause in his contract (there's a double for that). Well, this stupid adult film about Orgazmo and his sidekick Choda Boy saving gorgeous and very appreciative women from evil (and ugly) bad guys crosses over to mainstream success and becomes one of the highest-grossing films of all time. There must, of course, be a sequel. Young finds himself increasingly ensnared in this embarrassing situation that has the potential of costing him his fiancé and/or landing himself a new role "sleeping with the fishes, see." The bad guys are really bad, even in real life; clearly - need I say it? - this looks like a job for Orgazmo!

Let's talk about the cast. Parker is great as the naïve young Mormon, and it's rather strange to see him portray a character who remains clean-cut and, in a weird sense, pure from start to finish. Dian Bachar is hilarious as Orgazmo's sidekick and Young's new friend. Michael Dean Jacobs is perfectly oily and crude as Maxxx Robinson, the adult film director who threatens to ruin Young's life. Matt Stone steals every scene he is in, but his role should be seen and not discussed (especially since it is sort of hard to describe). Let us not forget Sancho; what can you say about Sancho except that, well, he is Sancho. There are also, I should mention, some actual adult film stars in this film - including Ron Jeremy, who is, in my opinion, the most disgusting man to ever live. Luckily, some of the horror Jeremy inspires is assuaged by the addition of gorgeous starlets such as Juli Ashton, Chasey Lain, and Jill Kelly. Oddly enough, there is no female nudity in this film at all; the only nudity you get comes in the form of male hinders (and it ain't pretty) - the only thing that can explain the film's NC-17 rating is the barrage of sexual references and sex implements that are on display here.

Make no mistake about it: this is a crude film that many individuals will disapprove of (particularly members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), but it really doesn't go as far as I expected it to. Take away a few "unusual" outfits, and this thing becomes a rather tame R rated movie. If you love South Park, you'll appreciate the humor of Orgazmo, but those who cannot stomach our little friends in Colorado would do well to duck and cover if they ever see this movie coming. I would love to give this film five stars, but I can't: the story's engine loses a cylinder or two before the end, and - more importantly - no movie that makes me have to look at Ron Jeremy will ever get a perfect rating from me. ... Volume 4 of South Park on home video couples 1997's Halloween special, "Pinkeye," with the Omen-parody, "Damien." In "Pinkeye," the town finds itself in the midst of an epidemic of zombie-ism spawned by the mix of embalming fluid and Worcestershire sauce in the cadaver of the bundled, mumbling Kenny--who, for a change, dies at the beginning of the show. Outside of being one of the more particularly gruesome and gory South Parks, this episode is packed with all of the satire and dark societal humor typical of creators Parker and Stone. Highlights include Cartman's Hitler and subsequent KKK costume and Chef's zombie dance à la Michael Jackson's "Thriller" choreography.

"Damien" has the makings of a classic both for its boxing match between Jesus (of the public access, call-in show Jesus and Pals) and the 350-pound red Beezelbub and for the twistedly excessive celebration of Cartman's birthday. Viewers will find some of the funniest Cartman lines here. He basks in the attention his birthday brings by assigning out gifts to party invitees and stuffing himself with pie, cake, and ice cream, provided by the eerily pleasant Mrs. Cartman, of course. A great pairing of great episodes. One note: even though South Park is animated, it's not for children. --Karen Karleski ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Yet again: 2 more hilarious episodes!
I can't get enough of this show! These episodes will have you laughing non-stop during the entire tape! Check these out today along with the other South Park tapes!

4-0 out of 5 stars REALLY COOL
this tape is for SOUTH PARK FANS ONLY! some people dont like south park because it makes fun of cool people.that sometimes gets on my nerves with south park but i dont blame them for making fun of the backstreet boys.this one doesnt really make fun of too many people,so i liked it alot.pinkeye was the best episode.damien was good, but kinda boring.you have to fast forward through some of the stupid and boring parts

5-0 out of 5 stars A great satire, don't miss it!
The video begins with Pink Eye. A kind-of "Night of the Living Dead" spoof. Very, very funny. The next is "Damien" a take-off of "The Omen". In it Satan's son comes to elementary school, and Jesus must fight Satan for supremacy of the world. The ending was fantastic!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sickeningly gross - fab!
These episodes are great, but Damien isn`t as good as Pink Eye. Pink Eye involves Kenny dieing (no surprise there then) and Worcestershire sauce is accidently put into his embalming fluid, turning him into a zombie! He then goes around turning the whole town into zombies, including Chef, which results in Chef doing a hilarious impersonation of Micheal Jacksons Thriller! Damien envolves Satans son attending South Park Elementary and ends up in Jesus and Satan having a fight, that the whole town places bets on.It could only happen in South Park....

4-0 out of 5 stars goofy and funny
these are two excellent episodes, one staring that foul mouthed racist cartman as Hitler and the Sieg Heils, plus with his naive "Minnesota Nice" prinicpal, was an excellent laugh for Halloween. THe Jesus and Pals episode resembled Colorado Springs tv and was very good with Counselor Mackey trying to tell Damien to fit in. Cartman's party was excellent. If you have ever been to the Denver metro area, pick this up, you'll laugh. ... Read more

The seventh volume of the South Park series contains the classic two-part "Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut" and "Cartman's Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut." Now you don't have to be left hanging to find out who Cartman's dad is (is it Chief Running Water? Officer Barbrady? Mr. Garrison? The 1991 Denver Broncos?).

In these two soap-opera-type episodes, Cartman demands to know who his father is and gets a charming explanation of how babies are made from his mother: "Sometimes the man puts his hoo-hoo-dilly in the woman's cha-cha." But Mrs. Cartman was with so many men at the 12th annual drunken barn dance that it requires a DNA test to determine Eric's father.Luckily, Kyle and Stan enter a video of Cartman's stuffed-animal tea party in America's Stupidest Videos, and win the $3,000 dollars that is needed for the test. But, before Mephesto can reveal the outcome, he's shot by an unknown assailant. Meanwhile, a major snow storm traps the adults of South Park in the school gym where they're re-creating the attempted murder for America's Most Wanted; and there's only one way they can survive the storm: cannibalism. This hysterical South Park doesn't disappoint with the ending (you'll never guess who Cartman's father really is) and provides many memorable quotes. (Cartman singing the Styx's "Sail Away" is irresistible.) Yes, this is a fun animated series, but unless you're ready to do some serious explaining to your kids, remember it's meant for adults. --Jenny Brown ... Read more

I just watched this one last night and it is freaking hilarious. I love South Park and Trey Parker and Matt Stone are geniouses in the retared kind of way. If you like South Park this is a must-see. Also WATCH THE MOVIE it is also hilarious

5-0 out of 5 stars South Park is the ultimate satire and this is a prime exampl
This show may appear to be shotty and gen-X, however in my opinion it goes deeper than than and is a well thought out weapon against the people in our society who are upright and "PC". This show screams "calm down!" to all those opposed to dark comedy. This particular episode focusses on the the character know as "Cartman"'s desperate search for his genetic father. This search leads him to many of the male supporting cast and the big question of the show is: Who is Cartman's Father? You would normally expect to find out. Lets just say the plots takes a sickening twist-turn when, at the end, the above question is answered...in a perhaps debatable way...and the above question is changed entirly. This episode is very funny and almost all the other are equally as hysterical.

OK, let's get all the disclaimers out of the way first. Despite its colorful (if crude) animation, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut is in no way meant for kids. It is chock full of profanity that might even make Quentin Tarantino blanch and has blasphemous references to God, Satan, Saddam Hussein (who's sleeping with Satan, literally), and Canada. It's rife with scatological humor, suggestive sexual situations, political incorrectness, and gleeful, rampant vulgarity. And it's probably one of the most brilliant satires ever made. The plot: flatulent Canadian gross meisters Terrance and Philip hit the big screen, and the South Park quartet of third graders--Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman--begin repeating their profane one-liners ad infinitum. The parents of South Park, led by Kyle's overbearing mom, form "Mothers Against Canada," blaming their neighbors to the north for their children's corruption and taking Terrance and Philip as war prisoners. It's up to the kids then to rescue their heroes from execution, not mention a brooding Satan, who's planning to take over the world.

To give away any more of the plot would destroy the fun, but this feature-length version of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's Comedy Central hit is a dead-on and hilarious send-up of pop culture. And did we mention it's a musical? From the opening production number "Mountain Town" to the cheerful antiprofanity sing-along "It's Easy, MMMKay" to Satan's faux-Disney ballad "Up There," Parker (who wrote or cowrote all the songs) brilliantly shoots down every earnest musical from Beauty and the Beast to Les Misérables. And in advocating free speech and satirizing well-meaning but misguided parental censorship groups (with a special nod to the MPAA), Bigger, Longer & Uncut hits home against adult paranoia and hypocrisy with a vengeance. And the jokes, while indeed vulgar and gross, are hysterical; we can't repeat them here, especially the lyrics to Terrance and Philip's hit song, but you'll be rolling on the floor. Don't worry, though--to paraphrase Cartman, this movie won't warp your fragile little mind. Unless you have something against the First Amendment. --Mark Englehart ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great movie, but no extras
I admit, I was not one of those folks who ran out to see South Park as soon as it hit the theaters. In fact, I didn't even run out to rent South Park when it was released on VHS and DVD. But I finally did rent it in a moment of weakness, and am so glad I did. A few minutes into the film I had to scrape my jaw off the floor, but then I laughed my head off for 90 minutes and promptly watched the film again. After I returned the rental, I bought the DVD, and still watch it whenever I need a laugh.

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut is, in a word, brilliant. From the Disney-esque musical numbers (skewered by the biting wit of the lyrics) to the I-can't-believe-they-just-said-that vulgar hilarity of Terrance and Phillip to the "Saddam is from Mars, Satan is from Venus" moments sprinkled throughout, South Park is the best piece of satire written in years, and is guaranteed to keep you in stitches.

The movie is set in, of course, South Park, home of our heroes Cartman, Kenny, Stan, and Kyle. The boys manage to worm their way in to a theater to see Canadian duo Phillip and Terrence's new R-rated movie, which is brimming with jaw-dropping language. It proves "educational" to the boys, and they're swearing with flair and gusto quicker than you can say... well... you'll have to imagine. From there, it's a short leap to horrified teachers, mortified parents, and then Mothers Against Canadians. And it would be criminal to give away any more of the plot.

Yes, the language is positively filthy.... Yes, the film ridicules networks willing to do anything for ratings, Hollywood families of fame, overbearing and misguided parents, and everyone in between.... Yes, there are many moments of plain grossness.... So if you're easily offended, generally uptight, or a member of any morally outraged group, this film is not for you. This film is ABOUT you. Find something else to watch.

But for everyone else: buy this movie. You'll laugh; you'll cry (well, maybe not cry...); it will become a part of you.

Last note: The only reason I rated this DVD 4 stars instead of 5 is the complete lack of extra features. The movie is certainly worthy of a 5 star rating, but the complete lack of extras for the DVD format, especially given this material that's just screaming for extras, is inexcusable. But I highly recommend purchasing the movie, anyway.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly funny!
Although not a highest-grossing film of the year, this movie was a surprise success when it was released. It has caused people like the writers of the Simpsons to reconsider making an animated feature film of Homer and the rest.

On the surface this is not much more than a long episode on South Park with slightly better effects. But under the hood they developed a lot of technology to create the film, and it has definitly smoothed the process for the show's production.

As for the plot, I'm sure it's been discussed to death, but I will say that the quality of the movie is at it's best! Terrance and Phillip (my favorite characters) play a starrng role, and the show wastes absolutely no time trying to explain to the audience who such-and-such is (except for a small blurb about Ike being Canadian). All of our favorite characters are in it, without it being a showcase. And of course, since it's a feature film, it's much more irreverent than what's on the public airwaves. But again, it's not a giant excuse to offend you. It's all done consistently and it remains hilarious.

Finally, as usual, Trey Parker is given full writing credits since he's usually the one that ends up physically typing the script. But like always the show is a full collaborative process between Parker and Stone. At least, this is what they publicly admit :).

4-0 out of 5 stars Great cartoon.. yet anti christian
First off, i love south park. I love Terrence and Phillip's inmature fart jokes, cartmans loud mouth, how kenny dies in the movie, and how the usa goes to war with canada. But i hate how they make fun of christianity. It is morally wrong and as funny as the creators re, if they do not ask for forgivness, they will rot in hell. Then they will see how funny it is. If they stopped being anti christian, then more people would like it. That is why i am sticking with the simpsons, even though it has a little anti christianity in it. If south park changed there ways, it would be the best show and movie ever.

2-0 out of 5 stars Warning-
No, I'm not giving the movie itself 2 stars. The movie's actually one of the funniest things I've ever seen and was the first dvd I ever watched back in 1999. But the dvd itself gets 2 stars. All it had was 3 trailers and that's it. Which is why I posted this review/news-

A special edition of this is being worked on right now.

So hold off on this and wait for the better edition, which is bound to have tons of features like commentary, making-of and maybe a deleted scene or two (I can't imagine what could've been deleted from this). There isn't any release date set for it as of yet, but I'm guessing it'll come out in November or December.

4-0 out of 5 stars Totally outrageous
I remember when I rented this movie a few years back, and I tried to watch it at about 1 a.m. I had to turn it off....it was TOO funny....too much for my senses that late at night!!! The usual guys are here....Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, etc....with one very big difference.....they curse a LOT and dont bleep it out!!! As usual theres the fast rapid fire humor that South Park is known for.

So if you like it fast and raunchy, get a big bag of popcorn, a nice cold soda, and take a few deep breaths cause you will LAUGH!!! ... Read more

This, volume 1 of three, contains two episodes from the first season of South Park, Comedy Central's wildly successful animated sitcom. In addition, viewers get two very tongue-in-cheek fireside chats with co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The controversial cartoon gained a devoted cult following for its wonderfully unabashed assaults on dull sitcom formula and political correctness. While the show's animation is beyond primitive, with goofy construction-paper cutouts acting as characters, its writing is hilariously shocking and pushes the envelope of good taste off the table. Episodes explore the small mountain town of South Park through the point of view of four foul-mouthed yet lovable eight-year-olds. They include level-headed co-leaders Stan and Kyle; the fat, terminally pissed-off, and hysterical Eric Cartman; and the hooded, incoherent Kenny (who dies in every episode). As such, it's stuffed with toilet humor, graphic violence, and profanity; but South Park also cleverly subverts TV clichés and acts as a scorching, very frank satire of America's hypocritical attitudes toward social problems like racism, homophobia, jingoism, and neglectful parenting. This volume is a perfect introduction to the show, as it sets up the town's numerous and warped characters and many of South Park's quotable catch phrases. The first, "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe," is basically minor, though funny, as it sends up UFO conspiracy freaks and shows like The X-Files when Kyle's little brother, Ike, is abducted and the boys must get him back. The second, "Volcano," mocks Hollywood's fascination with disaster movies, as an erupting volcano threatens the town. Better, though, is its subplot: when the kids are taken hunting, Stan is unable to pull the trigger, and is ridiculed as weak and sick, thus mocking a prevailing mindset among those who kill for sport. --Dave McCoy ... 5-0 out of 5 stars You`ve gotta laugh!
This episode was the first ever and was fab. The jokes are clever and even the ones you have to look for are hilarious. I`ve seen every episode of South Park and I still think Cartman gets an anal probe is the best. Even my mum found it funny!! There is a lot of controveresy over the explicit language, but I have one message :its rated 18 isn`t it? Thats what ratings are for! I think this is a brilliant first episode as it really shows you what to expect from the other episodes, and even though I thought this was the best, you won`t be disapointed if you liked this.

4-0 out of 5 stars The one that started it all
This has the very first two episodes. If you look close enough, you can see how different it looks from now. Also, Mr. Hat doesn't have eyes! I hope the new season starts soon. I keep finding reruns I've seen already. I also wish that there could be South Park marathons during the day on Comedy Central, but it's rated TV-MA LSV, so kids can't see it. I know that stars don't sound like themselves on the show purposely unless they do their own voices, but Phil Collins' on the first episode with Timmy, the kid with cerebal palsy, sounded so fake. So did Kathie Lee Gifford and Yoko Ono.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Funny Performance By Trey Parker and Matt Stone!
This is one great show, why I want it to never end, why it has great potential to be the next Simpsons, why including Mr. Garrison, he is stupid but funny. The characters were even good: Stanley "Stan" Marsh, Kyle Brovsloski, Eric Theodore Cartman, Kenneth "Kenny" McCormick, Butters Scotch, and TIMMY! I give this a ***** (5 out of 5).

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Show but Video Was a Disappointment
Hillarious stuff but I just didn't like the way this video package was put togther by the studio. First of all, there are only two episodes on each tape with a great deal of unfunny filler at the beginning and in between. Really, now--they could have given us four episodes on a tape and stayed in SP mode. Another thing: this is video marketed to adults so why is the dialogue still censored? Could it be that the episodes were actually originally produced with the beeps?

5-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the real pilot!
You can download the real South Park pilot and watch it with Real Player. Go to Dogpile and do a file search for soxmas.zip. It is the real pilot. ... Read more

Volume 5 of South Park on home video pairs two thematic, daring episodes that are among the louder commentary of creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. "Starvin' Marvin" (1997's Thanksgiving episode) touches on the opposing ideas of starvation and eating in an attack on townspeople by genetically altered turkeys while the boys adopt an Ethiopian boy accidentally sent to them via airmail (they really wanted the complimentary sports watch). An acidic portrayal of Sally Struthers spices this episode, and though the idea of "Marvin" is at first difficult to swallow, the searing hilarity provokes thought. Pointed and very funny.

"Mecha Streisand" was a chance for Parker and Stone to unleash their hatred of Barbra Streisand (as they capriciously state in their filmed introduction). Paying tribute to the Japanese monster-duel movies of the 1960s like Godzilla, the story hilariously portrays Streisand as a rich, egomaniacal celebrity (wonder why) hell-bent on finding the missing relic that will transform her into a giant metal Barbra--a monster who crushes South Park's buildings at one moment while pausing to sign an autograph for Kyle's mother the next. Another highlight of "Mecha-Streisand" is the portrayal of a cynical, laid-back Leonard Maltin who, teamed with Sydney Poitier and Robert Smith of the Cure, band together to battle the evil "Mecha-Streisand." Don't miss "Mecha-Streisand." (For adults only.) --Karen Karleski ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What's the matter with South Park?
I am only 16 years old and maybe a year too young to watch South Park but it is addictive. In Volume 5 featuring Mecha-Streissand and Starvin' Marvin the creators Parker and Stone have given their viewers a challenge. I have the three pack of Volumes 4,5,and 6 and I think that the best is Volume 6. Volume 5 is funny, but not one you should put on your christmas list. If you want a quick laugh or you hate Barbara Striessand, this is a simple but sweet video. Don't be an idoiot like me and get the 3 pack (videos 4,5, and 6) because only Volume 6 is hilarious. Overall, the challeng of Volume 5 is hard to explain, but pretty much positive. Five stars all the way.

3-0 out of 5 stars I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS MOVIE 5 STARS........
IF IT WASNT FOR THE LAST EPISODE:MECHA STREISAND.IT IS THE WORST OF ALL THE EPISODES.STARVIN MARVIS WAS AWESOME THOUGH.I HATED THE SECOND EPISODE.ONLY A COUPLE FUNNY PARTS IN THAT ONE,LIKE THE ROSHAMBO SCENE

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst South Park of All!
"South Park" which is often quite hilarious sinks to a new and predictable low with "Meccha Streisand". Trashing Streisand has become tired and what is even more desperate is that there are so many little areas to jab Barbra Streisand at, but none of them are unilized here. Exactly, why do the creators hate her so much? The reasons are never explored or is it just the idea that a powerful successful woman must naturally be self-absorbed? This episode is just sad and the worst part of all is that it really isn't even very funny. Amusing at times, but certtainly not one to watch again and again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another funny one from Matt and Trey!
Two very ammusing episodes. Starvin' Marvin was a very humorous look at other countries(from the south park scene of course) also the satire of Sally Struthers was hilarious. The next episode with Barbra Striesand was pure gold. I will never look at her the same way! 5 stars!

4-0 out of 5 stars Mecha Striesand -- a Tribute to Toho
Of the two episodes on this tape, I recommend "Mecha-Striesand", which uses every Kaiju movie schtick from Toho's and Daiei's productions of the '50s and '60s. You know you are in for some demented Daikaiju action when the Mothra fairies show up about halfway through. (And if not, I'll Rochambeau you for it...) ... Read more

The 8-year-olds of South Park are back in Volume 8, which includes the hilarious episodes "Chicken Lover" and "Ike's Wee Wee." In "Chicken Lover," someone in South Park is copulating with chickens (only it's phrased a bit more indelicately); unfortunately Officer Barbrady is unable to decipher the clue notes--he can't read. Forced back to elementary school, Barbrady deputizes the kids to restore order in town, as he tries to master the alphabet.Eric Cartman rules with an iron fist ("You will respect my authoritay!"), and we all learn a powerful moral: "Reading totally sucks ass."

Kyle is excited about Ike's upcoming party in "Ike's Wee Wee," and some new thing called a "bris." When he discovers exactly what that entails, he plots to save poor Ike from circumcision--until he learns a secret about his baby brother. Meanwhile, Mr. Mackey, after a stirring anti-drug speech at the school ("And, uh, as for drugs, well, drugs are bad. You shouldn't do drugs"), passes some marijuana around for the kids to smell. When the pot disappears, he's fired. With no money, no job, and kicked out of his apartment, Mr. Mackey escapes into a life of alcohol, pot, and LSD. You haven't seen an animated acid trip until you've seen Mr. Mackey's head floating like a balloon. Yes, South Park is a fun animated series. But unless you're ready to do some serious explaining to your kids, remember it's meant for adults. --Jenny Brown ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars very funny
Hilarios. Just hilarious. I am only 12 years old and I understand alot of the stuff they talk about on south park. Well I must say that these two episodes from television(i think)are so funny. The first one is about the cop guy how has to learn to read. Him and south parks main characters Stan, Cartman, Kenny and kyle have to find a guy called the chicken ....er who ....s chikens. The second episode is about Kyle finding out that his little brother Ike is not his real brother. He is mainly trying to keep his parents from cutting ofs Ike's wee-wee. There really trying to circumsize him. Well i must say that these two episods kick ars.

4-0 out of 5 stars LOVE THOSE KIDS
AFTER HEARING ALL THE BAD THINGS MY FRIENDS HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE "SOUTH PARK" SHOW I HAD TO SEE AND HEAR FOR MYSELF. I FOUND TWO VHS TAPES IN THE "BARGIN BIN" AT MY LOCAL VIDEO RENTAL STORE -CHICKEN LOVER/IKE'S WEE WEE AND CONJOINED FETUS LADY/THE MEXICAN STARING FROG OF SHRI LANKA. AND AFTER VIEWING THESE TAPES FOR THE FIFTH TIME I WAS HOOKED. I THEN BOUGHT THE MOVIE, WHICH IS ABSOLUTLY HILIARIOUS. I NOW HAVE TO BUY THE REST OF THE TAPES AS I DO NOT GET COMEDY CENTRAL IN MY CABLE PACKAGE. I HAVE BEEN "SOUTH PARKED" AND I LOVE IT - KEEP THEM COMING!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sir Please Step Out of The Car.
Out of all the episodes avalible on tape Chicken Lover is one of the best. Cartman as a police officer roally pisses off many and upholds the law with his athoriti stick.Officer Barbrady can't read so he is taken off the job, so the 4 kids and the athoriti stick rule south park. This "COPS" rendition of southpark is halarious leaving me on the floor laughing each time i see it. The fallowing episode Ike's Wee Wee is also a gut buster. A must buy, well worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Respect My Authority! "
the first episode, chickenlover, was the funniest, the second episode,Ike's Bris was cool, but not that funny.im not saying that it was completely unfunny, but chickenlover was the funniest.i love this tape and i own it.so disgusting and funny!

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love The Underpant's Gnomes
This is one of the best South Park DVDs out right now. This is what I rate the Episodes.

Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Ride: 4
Spookyfish: 4
Gnomes: 5
Trapper Keeper: 4 1/2

As you can see, Gnomes is my favorite episode. As you know there are canadian ratings on the back. South Park ussualy owns 14 or 18 year old ratings. This one says 18, but don't let the rating fool you. It is really not that bad. Most 18 rated ones are real bad. The worst one you can find right now is, "Insults to Injuries".

3-0 out of 5 stars More for the *OLD* Collection?
This DVD is yet another part of the *OLD* collection. If you've been collecting them all along, buy it.

BUT... You may also be interested in the plans to release "Deluxe" boxed sets for each season. For what it's worth, they had things pretty much under control when they started. They released the first 6 DVDs with numbers from 1-6... pretty simple, so why did they drop the idea of building a numbered set?

I bought it, as I've bought every other SP DVD to date. It still drives me nuts that they're going to start all over again. This means most of the fans who bought the individual DVDs will end up buying it a second time.

3-0 out of 5 stars What To Expect
Greetings, all. If you're wondering which South Park™ episodes will be on this DVD, they are:

-'Underpants Gnomes'©, a South Park™ look at large corporations, and featuring the first appearance of the always-high-strung and apprehensive Tweek™.

-'Trapper Keeper'©, the episode that poked fun at the 2000 presidential election debacle as well as Jesse Jackson and Rosie O'Donnell. Also look out for references to 2001: A Space Odyssey™, the Terminator™ movies, and the milestone animé flick Akira™.

-Also thrown in to coincide somewhat with this platter's street date: the South Park™ Halloween specials 'Spooky Fish'© and 'Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery'©!

And I'd pre-order this bad-boy if it weren't for the fact that it'll soon become obsolete in about a year. Y'see, the distributors of the South Park™ DVDs have finally decided to scrap the whole theme-DVD motif and will be releasing the show in full-season box sets for Region 1 (US & Canada) starting mid-November. Strangely enough, these same full-season sets have been available to DVDphiles in Region 2 for about a year or so now. My rec is you wait 'til these sets come out, and collect the SP series in this manner. But, if you haven't yet seen the eppies on this particular platter and you just gotta have your 'Park-fix, give it a rent when it streets.... ... Read more

Volume 6 bundles together 1997's holidays specials, "Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo" and "Tom's Rhinoplasty." Outside of the usual mocking social commentary and piercing wit from writers Parker and Stone, viewers will find some great musical performances in the "Mr. Hankey" episode: Kyle's "I'm a Lonely Jew on Christmas" lament; Mr. Hankey's "Howdy-Ho;" Chef's original, yuletide song (as only Chef can do); Cartman's "Kyle's Mom Is a Bitch;" and the finale chorus of the "Mr. Hankey" theme. While the town works to put on a "nondenominational, nonoffensive" school play, Kyle tries to convince family and friends that yes, indeed, the Christmas turd in a red Santa hat that sang and danced in his bathroom is real. The "Mr. Hankey" episode contains the debut of the hilariously true-to-life "um-kay" school counselor, Mr. Macki--who after talking with Kyle about his delusions of a poo, calls him "a twisted, little monkey." Also, included is the unforgettably sick and repulsively funny Mr. Hankey play-kit commercial. Of course, in the end, after all is parodied and sung, people come together in the name of, um, the holidays, I guess.

If "Mr. Hankey" is the South Park musical, then "Tom's Rhinoplasty" is the vomiting special (e.g., Mr. Garrison and Stan). Teacher Mr. Garrison takes a leave of absence to have plastic surgery (which turns his face into the cut-out of David Hasselhoff's--a bizarre effect difficult to watch at first) while the good looks of his substitute, Ms. Ellen, sends the boys reeling into lovey-dovey land. As they compete to woo Ms. Ellen during Valentine's Day season (Cartman: "I'm gonna buy her a vacuum cleaner; chicks love vacuum cleaners…."), Wendy Testaburger's jealousy festers and grows into an explosively funny climax (due in part to the twists on Ms. Ellen's character). Volume 6 is not to be missed... except by your children, of course. --Karen Karleski ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My two favorite episodes of "South Park" of all time
Of all the episodes of "South Park" I have seen, my two favorite episodes have been "Mr. Hankey" and "Tom's Rhinoplasty". I have never laughed so hard in my entire laugh (other than seeing the South Park movie) as I have during "Mr. Hankey". In "Mr. Hankey", Christmas time has arrived in South Park. Everyone is celebrating the festive holiday except for Kyle and his family because they are Jewish. Kyle immediately feels alienated from his friends because he is Jewish. Later Kyle's mom gets all PC and becomes offended by the Christmas decorations. She manages to convince the town mayor to take down all the Xmas decorations and change the school's Xmas play into some non-denominational play that has no references to the Christian holiday. IF that was funny enough, during the town meeting Kyle mentions Mr. Hankey, the talking poo. Of course he gets laughed at. The results is this hilarious song in the bathroom w/Mr. Hankey which I can never tire of watching. My personal favorite moment in the episode is when Cartman starts singing about Kyle's mom but not in a good way. It definitely gets the biggest laughs from me. In the episode "Tom's Rhinoplasty", Mr. Garrison goes in and gets a nose job. While he is gone, the kids gets a substitute teacher named Ms. Ellen. Stan (and the rest of the boys) develops a crush on her but it turns out that she is a lesbian. Non-stop laughs in that episode. I loved it when the boys were literally munching on carpets in order to become lesbians. I never tire of watching these two particular episodes. They are absolutely too funny and a reminder of the brilliance of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Thank heavens for those two to make fun of everything and everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Christmas Special Ever!!!
The first episode is mr. hankey the christmas poo. If your tired of the same old christmas specials then you should see the southpark christmas. It is the best southpark episode ever made. The second is toms rhinoplasty which is a very good 8/10 valentines episode in which the boys try to become lesbians (not knowing what lesbians are) to impress the new supply teacher. It is very funny watching the boys licking carpets to make them self lesbians!!

5-0 out of 5 stars "Kyle's mom is a big fat ( )
the song that Cartmen sings is hilarious.tom's rhinoplasty ispretty funny, too.these are probably the most funniest south parkepisodes.see volume 1,too.that one is hilarious.the first episode is about a piece of crap singing and dancing everywhere and the second episode is about mr garrison getting a nosejob and a hot substitute comes to the boy's school and stan falls in love and wendy gets real ( ) off.it is really funny END

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome.
I've been trying to compare which is better out of Tom's Rhinoplasty or Mr. Hanky.... but I came up with with equal. They are both entertaining, funny, cool and are worth the money. The videos from South Park are excellent - I strongly recommend if you are a fan of this and other volumes to also go and buy the film a.s.a.p. - it tops it all off with its excellence!

4-0 out of 5 stars HIIIII-DEEEE-HO!
After all these years growing up with all those sappy Xmas TV specials (each one introducing a new character to the Santa Claus mythos), Parker & Stone have done the new Xmas character to top all Xmas characters -- Mr. Hankey! Just as you can never watch The Muppet Show the same way after "Meet the Feebles", you can never sit through another Xmas special after Mr. Hankey.

Mr. Hankey has also found himself at the center of a controversy; John Krisfaluci (of Ren & Stimpy) was threatening to sue Parker & Stone claiming Mr. Hankey was a ripoff of his character, "Nutty the Talking Turd". Think about it... two grown men (and their production companies) in a legal fight over a cartoon talking turd. Who says South Park is so off the wall? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars it made me hurt
This has to be one of the most hysterical movies I've seen in a long time. Trey Parker and Matt Stone filmed this one during one of their Spring Breaks while they were still in college. It's loosely based on a true story of a man tried and convicted of murdering and eating his counterparts on the way through the Rockies. The acting is terrible. The cinematography stinks. The beginning credits take a year to get through. It's so bad it's good. Troma was smart to snatch up this gem.

The extra stuff on the DVD is FANTASTIC. The commentary is worth the price of the disc alone. You watch the move, then watch with the commentary. I laughed just as hard (if not harder) through the comments as I did through the movie itself.

The original songs are catchy, witty, and all written by Trey and performed by the cast (for the most part). You'll end up singing/humming them for days after you watch it. I have been for months, now. I made a friend of mine sit down and watch it with me for the first time. She's not the type to like Trey and Matt's humor - she went home (Australia) and bought the sound track. "I think I know precisely what I mean, when I say, 'It's a shpadoinkle day!'"

5-0 out of 5 stars WHO KNEW CANNIBALISM COULD BE A TOE TAPPIN GOOD TIME!!
Writen and directed by Trey Parker and starring some of his friends from college, starts off as rumors and gossip of what happened on that faithful day when Alfred Packer (Trey Parker, titled under Juan Schwartz) was convicted of cannibalism. But with the help of reporter Polly Pry (Toddy Walters) you see Alfred's story.
Packer along with James Humpries(Matt Stone), George Noon(Dian Bacher), Shannon Bell (Ian Hardin), Isreal Swan(Jon Hagel) and Frank Miller(Jason McHugh), leave Utah to find gold and happiness in the Colorado Territory. Instead they get lost, battle the snow and the cold, and nearly starve to death.
Along the way they run into some crazy Indians( the Chief should look familar to Orgazmo fans (Maseo Maki)). and some very pesky trappers O.D. Loutzinheiser(Ted Henwood),Frenchy Cabazon(Robert Muratore), Preston Nutter(Andy Kemler).
Trey also brings in some laughs and sight gags you have to really look for ( ie. Bell is reading the book Homers Odyssey and later on in the movie you see a Cyclops).
The DVD offers alot of menus, such as Interviews with Trey, Matt, and Jason. Behind the scenes footage, A very funny commentary by Trey, Matt, Jason, Dian and Andy while becoming more and more inebriated off of scotch and much...much....more.
The sound is a bit poor in spots and the make-up is.....well..is just bad(ie..the beards)(but keep in mind that these are college students) and I consider the poor make-up as funny as the actual movie (My favorite is Trey's immitation of Abe Lincoln).
The music is great -some of the best is"Shpadoinkle Day"(also is used at the very end of each south park episode, so it should sound a bit familar). "The Trapper Song" done by the Trappers( Robert, Andy, and Ted) and "Lets build a Snow Man" are just a few, and are some of my favorites.
Also don't miss Trey Parkers dad Randy Parker as Judge Jerry and Matt Stone dressed in drag (towards the end of the movie).
Over all this movie is great, yes, it has it's moments when it's just hanging there but if you get this DVD the drunk commentary is worth it alone!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars A Rough Start
As an enormous fan of Trey and Matt's work from Orgazmo, to Basketball, to South Park, I can't say I was disappointed with this movie, but I can't say I was satisfied either. There are a few amusing moments. The humor is very much that unique, quasi-satirical comedy that Trey and Matt are know for. The problem is that they had yet to perfect it when this movie was made.

If you keep in mind that this was a very early attempt a movie-making for two hilarious individuals, you'll feel content. Don't expect much more. If they could edit 30min out of this movie it would be infinitely more entertaining. As it stands, it seems to run on for days.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dumb..... in a really, really good way
This movie is stupid. It is also one of the funniest dang DVDs you'll ever buy. One man's "stupid" is another man's comic genius! So call it what you want, but you'll laugh your butt off. The songs are lively, fun and catchy, and Parker's trademark dry humor is dished out in generous doses in scene after hilarious scene.
And then you get to the commentary track. Rather than the pompous comments and butt-kissing you get with other filmmaker's commentaries, here you get to listen as Parker, Stone, and various other cast members promptly get drunk and tell silly anecdotes, make fun of each other, and alternately praise/insult their former co-stars and crew.
Have fun! "Let's build a snowman..."

P.S. Minor quibble: Alfred Packer was NOT "the only man ever convicted of cannibalism". He was convicted of manslaughter. There was (is?) no law against cannibalism.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fudge, Packer?
Trey Parker takes the milk-toast, wholesome feel of an Oklahoma-style Musical and, with a nudge and a wink, uses this format to tell the true story of starvation, murder, and CANNIBALISM on the old frontier. The result is insanely funny.

The music is dead-on. Parker is a damned good commercial composer/musical satirist. His uncanny ability to nail any style and then accentuate certain aspects and mock that style is featured in this movie, as well as his Southpark series, and most convincingly, in "Southpark: Bigger Longer and Uncut." But let me tell you, these songs are really funny. The Trappers song always has me gasping for air. "Let's Build a Snowman," is one of the funniest moments in any movie that I can recall.

Several of the scenes in this movie are of the "so funny it hurts" variety. The funniest scene in the movie is also the goriest. I have never seen gore and humor come together like this. You should know which scene I am talking about and I don't want to spoil it. This scene is Monty Python-at-its-best-funny and that my friends, is really friggin funny. ... Read more

Brace yourself for more of South Park's gross, goofy satire, with three outrageous episodes starring South Park Elementary's most special student. The first bit of animated anarchy introduces wheelchair-bound Timmy, the new "special needs" kid and unlikely school hero. After shortsighted grownups diagnose him with Attention Deficit Disorder, a Ritalin prescription becomes a get-out-of-homework-free card for all of South Park's preteens. The zombified kids shake off their pharmaceutical stupor when Timmy's new headbangin' group takes on a villainous Phil Collins in a battle of the bands. But that's not the last of Timmy. The next time show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone wheel Timmy out, it's to save the class from the frightening new fourth-grade teacher, who terrifies the kids into building a time machine out of Timmy's electric wheelchair. Finally, Timmy's fondness for a "different" turkey threatens to undermine the massive musical spectacle of the fourth-grade Thanksgiving play. (Warning to the weak-stomached: this episode includes a flashing montage of some very disturbing film images, a good reminder that South Park is not a kids' cartoon.) These episodes, while not as groundbreaking as the early shows, share the same sarcastic creed: leave no sacred cow unskewered. Pharmaceutical companies and factory farms are targeted by the same socially aware spitballs as Soylent Green, The Empire Strikes Back, Phil Collins, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. --Grant Balfour ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great suff!!!
Maybe the best south park character after Cartman. Great laughs and funny stories. This is to be recomended!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars South Park - Timmy DVD
Great selection from South Park's 4th season. You just have to love Timmy, and he's splendidly showcased on this DVD.

4-0 out of 5 stars TIMMY!!!!!!!
This DVD is Great. All South Park DVD's are great. I wish they had more special features though.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Addition to the South Park collection
While I must admit that I wish they would release the South Park episodes in order - this dvd still has a lot to offer any fan of the series. Included in the four episodes are "Timmy 2000", "4th Grade", "Helen Keller, The Musical" and "The Tooth Fairy's Tats 2000".

In "Timmy 2000" we get are first look at Timmy and the kids enjoy the benefits of ridilin. This episode is hilarious (and makes a very real point) with the over use of ridilin for every child that acts out. The funniest bit in the entire episode is the Christina Aguliera monster that tries to eat Cartman.

"4th Grade" is another great episode - there's so much that goes on. The gang enter 4th grade with their new teacher, Timmy goes back in time (with a great spoof of "Speed") and Mr. Garrison finally comes out (with another great spoof of "Star Wars").

The episode "Helen Keller, The Musical" has to be one of the funniest episodes ever. In competing for the Thanksgiving play, Timmy finds a friend with Gobbles (the physically challenged turkey). I don't want to say much more other than this is one of the best episodes they've ever done.

The bonus episode "The Tooth Fairy's Tats 2000" is the weakest episode on the disk. It's good, just not up to the rest. Since Timmy is barely on it, I don't know why they chose it to put on this disk.

Overall the disk is great and well worth the price. I hate that they aren't releasing the episodes in order - that's Warner Brothers for you - but until they do, I'll be happy with what they have released.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cummon guys, Timmy Rules
I agree that this themed tape stuff is getting old, but at least this theme was good! I absolutley love this video and am glad to add it to my collection. Hopefully, the rest of the episodes will eventually be released as the series is somewhere near the end of season two on video with many more to go. However, this is a great video. Could have also included "Do the Handicapped go to Hell?" but I am not complaining. Timmy rules and I'm glad they decided to dedicate a tape to him! ... Read more

This, volume 3 of three, contains two episodes from the first season of South Park, Comedy Central's wildly successful animated sitcom. In addition, viewers get two very tongue-in-cheek fireside chats with co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The controversial cartoon gained a devoted cult following for its wonderfully unabashed assaults on dull sitcom formula and politically correctness. As such, it's stuffed with toilet humor, graphic violence, and profanity; but South Park also cleverly subverts TV clichés and acts as a scorching satire of America's hypocritical attitude towards social problems like racism, homophobia, jingoism, neglectful parenting, etc. Of the three volumes currently available, this is the finest. "An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig," is a crazy, raunchy look at genetic cloning--not to mention a parody of Marlon Brando's embarrassing performance in The Island of Dr. Moreau--as the boys try to win a science fair by mating Kyle's pet elephant with Cartman's pot-bellied pig. "Death" addresses both euthanasia and, self-consciously, offensive television. As Stan's 102-year-old grandfather tries to get anyone to off him, South Park parents try and get their kids' favorite TV show--starring the farting, swearing duo, "Terrence and Phillip"--tossed off the air. --Dave McCoy ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Very little things to laugh at.
An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig was allright, but Death was just plain bad, I don't even want to go into details with it. I recomend this for only die-hard South park fans.

1-0 out of 5 stars Oh God, not more
I got this one for my birthday from a friend who thought I liked the show. The "Elephant..." episode had me crying it was so poor. "Death" was actually fairly mediocre, especially when Granpa kept calling Stan "Billy". Apart from that more attempted vulgarity trying to be accepted as "shock comedy".

5-0 out of 5 stars Elephant Makes Love To A Pig/Death
I thought this was the best South Park video from 8 other videos.I like when Stan's clone was relised from Mespsito into the town of South Park. Mostly I like Death because Stan's grandpa wants Stan to cause suiside to himself. Then the town goes to New York to stop them from watching Terrince and Philip. Also when Kenny gets esplosve dierria and gives to the whole town. That is my result on the video.

2-0 out of 5 stars AN ELEPHANT MAKES LOVE TO A PIG and DEATH
AN ELEPHANT MAKES LOVE TO A PIG: Occasionally crap eppisode has Stan experimenting what turns out when an elephant screws a pig. DEATH: OK episode has "Death" coming to kill Stan's grandpa. More of the same; as I said in my review for VOL. 2 you should get the later videos.

The finest example is "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride." When Stan's dog, Sparky, begins showing signs of homosexuality, the boys can't cope and try to change his nature until he finally runs away to a gay pet sanctuary. Meanwhile, Parker and Stone underscore the social ignorance by mirroring this with a huge, macho football game that demands all of the town's interest. Rarely has gay commentary been this pointed or clever on television. "Weight Gain 4000," while humorous, is the weakest of the early episodes and displays the show's unfortunately repeated fixation with celebrities and popular culture. As the town prepares for the arrival of Kathy Lee Gifford, one of her bitter former classmates prepares to settle an old score, Taxi Driver-style. --Dave McCoy ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars More nonsense from overrated TV show
The second volume of South Park is even worse than the first. At least the Scuzzlebut angle was a bit funny. Come on, of all the possible Kathy Lee Gifford angles, was this the best they could come up with?! The thing with the gay dog was just stupid, not sick, not funny, not imaginative.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not that great but better than Vol. 1
SOUTH PARK VOL. 2 is a slight improvment on the first volume but still thats nothing to howl about. The first episode is how Cartmen uses a one of them muscle drinks to get in shape but grows even fatter; I thoght that this episode was not bad, it may be a little lumpy at times but it's funny. The second episode is how Stan's new gay dog, Sparky (played by George Clooney) escapes to a sancturary owned by the hilarious Big Gay Al. This episode reeks until Al comes along and provides a couple of laughs. You should buy some of the other videos that come later on in this series.

3-0 out of 5 stars Weight gain 4000;Big gay als big gay boatride
not as good as the others but thats foor you to decide

5-0 out of 5 stars Ample Parking In South Park!!
This videotape contains episodes 3 & 4 of South Park: "Weight Gain 4000", where Cartman wins an essay contest, gets South Park on TV, and gets to meet Kathie Lee Gifford. Of course he needs to get bulked up on Weight Gain 4000 to impress Kathie Lee, hence the title. And "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride", where Stan finds out his dog Sparky is gay, and Sparky runs away to Big Gay Al's gay animal shelter. Will Stan find Sparky and return in time to be the star quarterback in the big football game?? 2 very funny episodes, definitely not for young kids. END

1-0 out of 5 stars Capitalists
after all the commercialization of it, with the video tapes, shirts, hats, magnets, etc..etc.. it has gotten quite old. I believe the creators of south park are just capitalist pigs just like the poloticians and the corperate guys, what we dont know keeps the contracts alive, dont fall into the capitalist BS, anarchy forever...

and its not "great animation", its "construction paper" END ... Read more
