5-0 out of 5 stars DRAGONWOLRD
DRAGONWORLD is about a young boy (Jon) who goes to Scotland after the death of his parents. Jon has a hard time adjusting to life in Scotland as he and his granda live in an area where there are not many children his own age. Following a myth he had been told, he goes to a magical site and wishes for a friend. The Scottish fairies grant his wish by giving him a young dragon as a friend, whom he decides to name Yowler.
Time passes and the two grow up together. Ten years later, Jon's granda has passed away, and he is faced with the fact that he is not going to be able to keep his family's castle/manor. A developer and his daughter come to buy the land, when they see Yowler. The developer offers to pay Jon to show Yowler at a type of amusement park. Since he is desperate for money, Jon agrees so long as Yowler is treated well. However, Yowler is not treated well, so Jon and the developer's daughter, who have paired up romantically, set out to save him. Once back in Scotland, with the amusement park people on their tail, Jon tells Yowler to go away. With no dragon, the amusement park people are forced to leave, but Yowler is also gone, under the impression that Jon no longer loves him. Yet in the in end, after their first child is born, Yowler returns. So it ends happy.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Highlander speaks out.
Dragonworld is more than a cute little movie. The background shots made me want to return home to Glencoe. I have purchased the movie and shared it with my friends. Of course I am just
learning people are very intrested in the ways of the Scots.
Dragonworld is a great way to start. At the end of the movie I
watched the extra footage and they were talking of a second one.
I do hope it comes about and [that thsy] will let me know so I can
get my order in first.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great movie!!!
I saw Dragonworld when I was little. I still love it even though I have not seen it in years. It's about an american boy who's parents die so he has to move to scotland with his widowed grandfather. He is very lonely so he wishes for a friend and then he meets a dragon whom he names Yowler. They become best friends. Then they grow up and a developer and his daugher come to scotland. The boy, John, falls in love with the daughter and consents to send Yowler to a "better place," a park called Dragonworld. But Yowler is mistreated so John and the girl, beth set out to save Yowler. THis movie is great! I would recommend it for all ages.

a wonderful movie....sorry that I can't get a copy as it is not being available right now....

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Family Movie
I thought the cinematography of the the beautiful English countrysides were visually stunning. The cherub faced, talented young actor Courtland Mead was spellbinding to my children and my husband and I alike. The baby dragons relationship with the young Mead is heartwarming. This movie is touching, funny, heartwarming, and the latter part of the movie is filled with light suspense, adventure, and good action scenes. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The Vampire Radu Lives!
This third installment in the Subspecies series is one of the better ones. As in the first two movies, the vampire Radu is trying to seduce his "fledgling" Michelle into his world. At the same time, Michelle's sister enlists the help of the local authorities to try to take Michelle from Radu's home. The movie is as comic-book like as its predecessors and at the end we once again think Radu has been vanquished as Michelle's sister races away from Radu's castle with her sister safely concealed from the sun in a body bag. You can move on to Subspecies 4 to see what happens next. I'd recommend this or any of the Subspecies films for diehard fans only.

5-0 out of 5 stars Radu is back again, and this time he's lustfully hungry...
If you are new to the Subspecies series, I strongly suggest that you go back and view the first and second movies before diving into the bloodbath of Bloodlust. In this third movie, Radu and Michele have already been fleshed out as developed characters, and the beginning of Bloodlust takes off from where Bloodstone left off, allowing for no introduction to the background.

In Bloodstone, we heard Radu tell Michele that "There is no love between the living and the dead, only hunger." Here in Bloodlust, we see that Radu has indeed fallen for the lovely undead Michele, and confesses to love her forever and ever. Michele, on the other hand, is having a hard time coming to grips with her vampiric self, and though she lustfully drinks from the blood that Radu offers, she vows to hate him forever and ever.

Michele's sister Becky and her new boyfriend Mel have followed the two undead lovebirds back to Radu's castle, where Becky swears to free Michele. Teamed up with bumbling local detective Marin and Mel's CIA friend who has a bag full of silver bullets and a cheesy beret, they penetrate the castle to rid the town of Radu's evil presence.

What follows is confrontation after confrontation; Radu and Mummy, Radu and Michele, Michele and Becky, until the movie culminates with a wild escape from the castle and the reappearance (briefly) of Radu's miniature gargoyles.

Of all the subspecies movies, Bloodlust is my favorite. Some secrets are revealed in this installment about Radu's heritage, we see a tender but brief moment with Radu, and there is more humor here than the previous two movies.

Again, if you are a vampire purist and like your vampires nasty, then you are going to love the Subspecies series. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bloodlust - The best of the series!
I went thru alot of trouble to get this video. It has Radu admitting he loves Michelle.(Romance) Radu feeling bad about killing his whole bloodline. (Remorse) Again the music was great and the location shots put you right there in the picture.
The make-up on Radu needs work! Anders Hove (Radu) is a great actor in the vampire role. We need more of this series!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
A must see film from Full Moon Pictures. This is a story about a Vampire Radu who is trying to take a fledgling vampire named Michelle under his wings while trying to drive the remaining humanity in her out. All the while Michelle fights to keep her humanity with the aid of her sister Rebecca. And to ward off Radu. Along with trying to take the "Bloodstone", which is an ancient relic that gives blood to any vampire who drinks from it so they would be able to live with out taking human life. This is the 3rd movie in a 4 movie series which is a continuation of the pervious 2 movies and runs through the 4th and final film of the series. A must see to all people who wish to see a good horror movie and series. But a movie that definately isn't for younger children.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE BLEEDS!!!
Buried deep within th hellish confines of Castle Vladilas, the sadistic vampire Radu(Anders hove) lies inside his crypt, hand in hand with his love Michelle(Denice Duff).

Outside the castle walls,Michelle's sister Becky(Melanie Shatner)rallies forces to save her sister's soul.Embroiled in this bitter struggle are U.S Embassay Agent Mel Thompson(Kevin Blair),
Lieutenant Marin(Ion Haiduc),and a mysterious C.I.A agent with tricks up his sleeve. With their help,Becky leads them into the depths of the castle.

But when Radu, aided by his ugly Mummy(Pamela Gordon)and the demonic Subspecies, turns his love against her would-be rescuers,a horrific bloodbath ensues and the rescuers realize that it's not just Michelle's fate at stake......but thier own!

This is the best movie and must be seen.

4-0 out of 5 stars subspecies . . . THE NIGHT HAS FANGS.
Deep within the heart of Transylvania, a dark power from the past has resurfaced, and three beautiful young research students are caught in the midst of a supernatural battle for control of the vampire kingdom. Blood is the tie that binds the good Stefan (MICHAEL WATSON) and the evil Radu (ANDERS HOVE), vampire brothers reunited by the death of their father, King Vlad (ANGUS SCRIMM). Radu creates an army of hellish creatures of the night--subspecies--to help him in his wicked quest. Stefan has love on his side as Michelle (LAURA TATE), one of the students, joins him in the desperate fight to save the kingdom from the terrifying rule of Radu.

5-0 out of 5 stars I like my vampires cold, dead, ugly, and hungry...Radu style
Subspecies is the first in a four part movie series involving Radu, the baddest vampire in town. True, this is a Full Moon production, which equals cheesy horror, but it is definately cheesy horror in its very best form.

Radu is a vampire of the old school, he doesn't want to fit in with the living or find true love or apologize for what he is; he is a vampire and seems to be pretty taken with himself on that level. Our first introduction to Radu is when he kills his father in order to take possession of the Bloodstone, a vampire family heirloom that allows them to survive a long time without a fresh "meal", and gives them power by drinking from it.

Here also we meet the "subspecies", little creatures (make from claymation, not FX) that Radu creates by breaking off his own fingers. They become his tiny minions and assist him in taking the Bloodstone.

Meanwhile, three college girls arrive in Transylvania, and stay together at an old monastery nearby the broken remains of Radu's castle home. Also staying at the monastery is Radu's long estranged brother, Stefan. Radu and Stefan have no love for each other, though both seem to be attracted to the lovely Michele.

Girls get bit and girls scream, and there is a silly "Festival of the Dead" where everybody puts on paper-mache masks, a little bit of nudity, and in the end it all boils down to human vs vampire as do all good vampire flicks.

What makes Subspecies special is Radu himself. He is pasty white, has great fangs, long clawed hands, sleeps in a coffin, and drools...a LOT. He's also a very messy eater, and moves through the film with that bloody, slimy grin we have all grown to love.

In the end, Michele is the only one of the three girls left, and after Radu mixed his blood with hers, his brother Stefan "saves" her by biting her and turning her into a vampire also.

Lovely ending...but remember that there are three more movies...

So far, the first three Subspecies movies are only available as used VHS tapes, often costing a great deal of money. The fourth movie is already out on DVD, so hopefully the rest will be soon. Even on VHS, there is a nice "behind the scenes" feature at the end of the tape, along with previews of other Full Moon productions.

If you are a vampire purist, you should love this film. Enjoy!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the best!
A classic vampire movie that has been underrated by many. A movie about two brothers who fight over the bloodstone that would give the owner the ability to not have to kill to stay alive. As the conflict between brothers gains momentum the budding of a love story between one of the brother's and a mortal woman named Michelle begins to blossom she is turned into a vampire by the end of the movie and goes into the end of the 1st part of a 4 movie story as his lover.

5-0 out of 5 stars Subspecies - Great Series!
I loved this movie the minute I saw it. The location sites and atmosphere are great. The music sets the mood. I felt like I was actually there in Romania. The acting, well ok, not the greatest, and Radu's fingers could have been better. I would recommend this video to all Vampire movie lovers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Give me a smoke an a brew and make it snappy.
This movie is an all-time classic!!! Filled with wonderful characters and classic one-liners. The first time I saw this in the 80's, I hated it. But years later I saw it on T.V. and had a completely different viewing experience. I saw the movie for what it was, a hilarious, cheesy, 80's, horror-comedy classic. If you grew up in the 80's and liked metal and monster movies, then trust me, see this movie, it's totally unique.
Every line in this movie is funny. My friends and I still use quotes from this movie in our conversations. Just rent it or buy it and you'll see what I mean. I envy anyone who can see this for the first time. Most of all, enjoy the brilliant, kooky, almost cartoon-like characters. Enjoy.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Little Cheese Goes A Long Way
This movie is honestly of the best 80's cheese horror/comedic films of all time. Where else could you get Medusa and A big mess that comes out of the TV to kill you? LOve It Love It

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrorvision ROCKS!
GERRIT GRAHAM (NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CLASS REUNION) stars in this wacky science fiction horror about a high-tech television satellite that tunes in real-life horror!
Television will never be the same for the Putterman family. Stanley Putterman (GRAHAM) installs a state-of-the-art satellite dish in his backyard. Through a cosmic accident, a wayward monster's energy is beamed across galaxies, into the satellite and onto the Puttermans' television set. The Puttermans don't notice any changes, only better reception and a strange monster continually appearing on the screen. But when the monster leaps off the screen and into the Puttermans' living room-terror erupts. The monster needs to feed on humans for its survival.
Don't touch that dial...TERRORVISION has just begun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Killer Music. Alien Airwaves.!!!!!!!!
Some men like to put women on a pedestal. Others like to put them in the kitchen. The new DJ at KDUL likes to put them in jars; he's a collector of babes and shrinks them down to carry them home. Only home isn't exactly next door...it's another planet.
Now the real DJ at KDUL is Dangerous Dan O'Dare (Paul Hipp), an eccentric egomaniac who loves doing off-the-wall pranks while on the air. The latest butt of his jokes is Lisa Cummings (Martha Quinn), a local reporter who thinks she's spotted a UFO. (Yeah, right!) But the joke's on Dan when Cosmo, the alien, breaks into the radio station and takes a stab at show-biz. It seems that's the way to get the chicks. Now Dangerous Dan's reputation is at stake. The battle for the airwaves has begun...

3-0 out of 5 stars LOW BUDGET MOVIE IS ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD
Another low budget Charles Band production, this ranks as one of his more enjoyable offerings. An alien named Cosmo (NOT SEINFELD's Kramer)is posing as a radio DJ and captures women, shrinks them and puts them on display in glass jars. So it's up to the real DJ shock jock Dan O'Dare and TV reporter Lisa Cummings to stop them. Though Dan isn't easily persuaded to begin with (he humiliates Cummings live on air when she claims to have seen a UFO) both soon find themselves warning the other townsfolk of the imminent danger, but, as in all B movies they are arrested, ridiculed etc. It doesn't take a genius to figure what the outcome will be, but it is quite entertaining. A sequel of sorts followed DOLLMAN VS THE DEMONIC TOYS, which is itself a sequel to (naturally) DOLLMAN and DEMONIC TOYS. Keep your eyes peeled for heavy rock group Blue Oyster Cult and the wierdo band featuring some goon dressed as a cow.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's not about the film, it's all about the slam-dancing nun
This video is worth it strictly for the video with the SLAM-DANCING NUN and THE DUDE IN THE COW SUIT (complete with utters.)

2-0 out of 5 stars I love bad films, but...
I watch movies like this for the sheer entertainment value of watching horrible, bad, ugly, stinking movies. They're usually quite funny, and if ya get bored you can play Mystery Science Theatre on the movie with your friends.

Unfortunately, there are bad movies, then there are movies that are just plain *bad.* This one's just *bad.* You can tell it's horrible because of the little stars around the word *bad.* There's bad acting, no plot, and everything else that makes a good bad movie, but this one took itself seriously and really tried to be a good movie that would appeal to "urban youth" (the rock bands they feature every two minutes are so bad that hard-core '80s metal fans would look the other way in disgrace). Stay away from this one, buckeroos.

2-0 out of 5 stars No guts, no glory
Yes, I am back to berate yet another B-rated monster flick that really sucked. You may notice the title of this is "No guts, no glory, " which is true. The reason is that there was almost no real killing, no gore, no nothing (including a plot). So, grab your remote and flip away from those Bad Channels and watch a better monster flick like Rawhead Rex or Dark Side of the Moon. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining!
Well, I am a mom of two little girls (ages 6 & 7), and we all love this movie. It is so entertaining, and the little girl in the film is a great role model for kids of all ages -- very independent, feisty and smart! I don't watch movies much, but when I see one I really like (like this one), I feel it only right to say something about it for other parents and kids. I found this one at my local video store and my kids watch it at least twice a year. The actors are great, the story line is entertaining, and the costumes magical. With all of the trash out there being made for kids, you won't want to miss this one. Enjoy! P.S. If you are looking for quality family movies, a couple of my other family favorites are "The Three Little Pigs" starring Billy Crystal & Jeff Goldblum (so funny!) and the animated movie, "Kiki's Delivery Service".

3-0 out of 5 stars Through the Looking-Glass, In A More Childish Way!
Having been a hard searching person for the sequel, I stumbled upon the first part and decided to throw it into the large video collection I own. It has a great impression of Lewis Carroll's Alice stories, but with a modern twist. Jaime ReneƩ Smith plays out a young girl who recently gets an antique mirror from her dead grandmother. She discovers soon that it is a magical passageway to a world unlike her own. The special FX are good, the acting is pretty good but some of the story is very future-istic. I mean, catching children from other planets! FUTURE-ISTIC! But otherwise, this is a movie kids will cherish over and over again. I liked it, and so will you.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Loved This Video!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Most Chilling Tale
Remember The Blair Witch Project? Good. Now forget about it. TSFE exceeds it in every way. That aside this is a great movie to watch at nite, or in the daytime(My mom watche it while she was doing laundry and still got the bejeezus scared out of her)

The plot basically centers on four college age kids who spend, or attempt to spend a night in a St. Francisville plantation. These four are: Madison, Paul, Tim, and Ryan. By the way, Madison is psychic. After an informational beginning, in which the true story of Madame Lalaurie is told, we finally came to the house. While exploring the house, some very interesting things happen. A chadelier falls as the team leaves an anonymous room. The ghost is obviously a fan of Phantom of the Opera. Then while in the attic a light mysteriously flickers, and a chair hurls itself across the attic. Creepy. After an interesting Ouija board session with a spirit named Charlie, and a few cold spots and closing doors, Madison decides the team should cleanse the house. With the "white light of heaven" no less. Unfortunately some of the spirits of the house aren't to happy about this, included a tortured slave, and supposedly Madame Lalaurie herself. (gasp)
You'll have to watch the movie to find out if the team escapes.

This is one of my favorite horror films of all time, mainly because I am one of those silly people who have trouble deciding whether or not the movie was real. At any rate Madison's new world psychic crap certainly makes her character believable. The other characters, if they are actors, certainly portray fear well. And for those of you who dislike the ending I'll say this much. It definetly got my attention.

4-0 out of 5 stars I Like All The Ghosts
If you loved The Blair Witch, you'll like this movie.
This a pleasant little movie. Yes, it was designed ( and that's how I think of it: designed ) to mimmick the success of The Blair Witch Project. However, it is not a bad little movie. There were moments that were genuinely scary. I know it's even less real than The Blair Witch but if you watch it with an open mind you'll probably have a good time. If you hated The Blair Witch and thought it was a hokey piece of garbage you'll hate this one even more and turn it off in disgust five minutes in. If you thought The Blair Witch was the best horror movie ever made then you might want to watch this movie on a dark and stormy night... This movie is proof that sometimes you have to look good and hard on your video store's shelves to find a satisfingly creepy movie.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not great, but not terrible
Well, I'm not sure this movie deserves to be lampooned. It certainly isn't terrible. The background and intro to the house is pretty shallow. In fact, the initial time spent inside the house seems almost casual and silly at times.

Things finally start to get rolling after the group visits the attic. When the group splits up, the movie is at its best; just being creepy enough to stay within the "this isn't a movie but real" mold.

There are the usual cliches and the acting can be described as amateurish, but at least it fits in with the premise that these are supposed to be normal people. I honestly felt like this movie tried, it's a far better attempt at a film than the cookie cutter action flicks or romantic comedies that Hollywood seems to think we never get enough of.

5-0 out of 5 stars A hair-raising, spine-tingling, goosebump filled fright-fest
This is by far one of the best movies I have seen. In the days of all the other cheesy horror flicks.....can we say Nightmare on Elm St?.....this one truly takes the cake for being a true horror flick. Granted, it follows in the footsteps of Blair Witch, but at least the actors in this movie do not show up in the Steak and Shake comercials. This movie explores the true possibilities of the after-life by not revealing a sketchpad monster but yet leads you to make up you own conclusion on who or what is in the mansion. Many people have experienced paranormal experiences in their life and this movie in my opinion shows what some of those experiences could materialize as. From the shackles in the fireplace, to the chair in the attic, to the mirror in the bedroom, I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie. And the fact that it takes place in such a historic area of our country adds to the spook element. Whether or not this documentary was real or staged, they did one hell of a believable job. I mean if I were in the house I'm not sure if I would materialize as "all knowing" Madison, or "cry-baby" Ryan, or steriotypical "macho men" Paul and Tim whose sarcastic comments cover the fact that they are scared ****less. This is definitely one movie that I never tire of. Every time a friend comes over that has not seen the movie, it's number one on the playlist for the evening. Some may say it's cheesy, but if you get past the slow beginning and go into the viewing experience with an open mind, you may be surprised to find yourself jumping and screaming just like I did.

1-0 out of 5 stars Blech
This movie is so pointless. They say it is real, but the only thing real about this crapfest is the fact that it is an idiotic Blair-Witch rip-off that couldn't generate any chills evan if it had the chance to. I saw this movie 2 days ago, and I'm still washing the taste out of my mouth. AVOID. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars don't buy it- but if it comes on t.v..........
This is the type of movie few people will like enough to own. For its time (1985), it has great special effects, and the plot at the very least is inventive. A computer geek goes through a 'vortex', and has to save his girlfriend from the enemy. The enemy makes him go through about six different situations, and the nerd has to think his way out of it (with the help of his computer, of course).

This movie is not to be taken seriously in any way, shape or form. Serious film seekers stay away at ALL costs!! This film is a time- killer, plain and simple. A rainy day, nothing better to do kind of movie. In that context, this is a four star movie.

This is the type of movie you watch just for the expierence of watching it. I forewarn you; at times the dialouge is total cheese, but if you like (a) science fiction or (b) to watch strange films about 10 people have seen before (or a mix of both) either rent it or watch it on t.v. Who knows, you may be one of the few who wants to own it!

5-0 out of 5 stars BLACKIE LAWLESS!!
The guy on the cover looks a lot like the lead singer from the worlds greatest metal band, W.A.S.P. That's because it's him!! That's right, Blackie Lawless and the rest of W.A.S.P. make a cameo appearance as Satan's rock band. Sort of the official "house band" of Hades!! Cool Stuff / Corny Movie!! GREAT!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Doctor Is In The House!!!!!!!!
A dynamic hip-hop group called URBAN PROTECTORS think they've finally gotten their big break when they're "discovered" by notorious record producer DR. BONES. What they don't realize is that Dr. Bones has a diabolical plot to dominate the world with an army of zombies who use the Protectors' music as their own deadly anthem.

1-0 out of 5 stars One of the worst movies in the world!
This movie is very poor. The only good thing about this movie is one song which is used to turn people into zombies. The plot is simple... The special effects are very poor. Do not buy or rent it. The acting is very poor. Bad script and poor acting make this movie
below sci fi B movies.

3-0 out of 5 stars Something Different From Full Moon/Big City Pictures
I really, really enjoyed the music in this movie. I feel that is really kept up with the tone of the movie. My 1 year old liked dancing to it, also. Anyways, about the movie. I love the fact that Full Moon as spun off another company thats focus is on Urban Horror Movies. Normally, in any Horror movie..any and every black person is killed off. That is not a cliche that is truth. Watch any horror movie. In these movies, there are really only black people as all the leads. The Horrible Dr. Bones was a very interesting movie to watch. It had its slower parts and it more engaging moments. Overall I would say it is a decent/Good movie. I own it! I owned it before even watching it, and I am glad that I do have it. I still have to get it on DVD though. The voodooish theme of the movie was very clear, however, not mentioned as voodoo. It dealt with Arcane mysterys and modern science to turn the living into zombies by subliminal messages in music. The specials effect weren't too, too bad. That smile that Dr. Bones gives to jamal is damn scary!! I really didnt like the ending with the "surprise Box" . Watch it to see what I mean...If there is a sequel, I will watch it. I hope it can keep up with the 1st though. I really would like to hear the whole soundtrack.

2-0 out of 5 stars Commercial For Soundtracks Or Horror For A New Demographic?
I've always been a big fan on Full Moon pictures for as long as I can remember. The production company tends to like to create side companies to produce films in different particular genres. The Horrible Dr. Bones is under their 'Alchemy Entertainment' (Urban Sci-Fi, Fantasy, & Horror) label. I always try to check them out even though I always end up just liking their main 'Full Moon' labelled films.

The Horrible Dr. Bones is the story of a voodooish D.J. who wants to take over the world through subliminal messages mixed in music. While all the actors in the film did a great job, the amount of music squeezed into the film really took away from any type of story development. Halfway through the film you feel like you are watching a promo video for the record company (soundtrack is available).

The film itself could have been so much more interesting if they didn't stock so much music in it. It was interesting to see a horror film geared for the black demographic. There are so few out there (how many films have heavy metal soundtracks with all white teenagers?). I really enjoyed what this could possibly develop into for the genre. Music and horror do compliment each other, so by now targeting an entire new fan base, Alchemy Entertainment hopefully will succeed in recruiting new fans of horror that previously had no interest in it.

The DVD had some technical issues. While the music sounded great and was nice and loud, the vocal track was too low. It was hard to hear the actors. If you turned up the volume to hear it, the next time music was played, it was too overpowering. Also, while not really an issue, the DVD is mislabelled on the disc. A double sided disc, the film is on one side and 45 trailers are on the other (most of Full Moon's catalogue). When I placed the film in I could only access the trailers, I flipped it over and the film was on the other side. Basically they accidentally reversed the labels.

Overall an interesting film, if only they'd cut back on the push to sell their soundtrack music.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Horrible Dr. Bones isn't too horrible at all.
This is a surprisingly entertaining and inventive zombie tale with strong performances, a campy comic book style to it, and nifty FX. The music used to pad the film isn't too shabby either. My only complaint was that the zombies were too simplistic. There was no make-up on the actors who played the zombies at all with the exception of bloody, stiched up eyes (which are covered with dark sunglasses most of the time anyway). There are two exceptions to this though. There is one scene where a zombie has a nasty, bloody face, and another one with a big bloody hole in his chest. Also, every now and then for no explained reason, Dr. Bones (who isn't a zombie) has a nasty scarred face which is pretty impressive.

Bottom line: A good watch. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't watch if you are sleepy
Are you looking for a Sexy movie? Are you looking for a movie that is quick paced and grabs your attention? If so this movie is not the one you should choose! The pace of this movie is slow at best and the 'Sexiness' is nowhere to be found! Also , this flick takes itself too seriously , it should realize it is a B movie and have fun with that fact and run with it. Not worth much more than a Dollar rental night at the local Vid Store.

4-0 out of 5 stars Exciting
I thought this video was very uplifting, you are always off your seat and u cant get enough of the chicks in it, i rented it but ithink im going to buy it very soon, it's a must get.

2-0 out of 5 stars Chapped LIPS
I'm a big fan of Surrender Cinema, however their latest entry has me worried that this once "edgy" film company has lost it. To begin with, the plot is weak -- but really, who cares. So long as the girls are white hot and the sex is good. Okay, in LIP Service we're batting 1 for 2. As can be expected, the girls were hot. What left me feeling cheated was the sex scenes. For one, there weren't many. For two, the girl/girl scenes were terrible. I thought I was watching a shampoo commercial, what with all the hair stroking. There was no kissing, no excitement, and no heat. After viewing SC classics as Femalien, Virtual Encounters and Veronica 2030, I'm surprised the powers-that-be at Surrender Cinema even let this dreck out the door. Hey, guys, go watch your earlier films ... go back to the basics. Your viewers demand it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars an okay vampire flick
Vampire Journals is a take-off of the Subspecies series from Full Moon, but it stands on it's own as it only makes one brief reference to that aforementioned series. As a horror film, I would say the movie is sub-par. It's never really scary; it's more of a gothic Dark Shadows-esque drama featuring vampires and the sad life they lead. Some of the dialogue is hilariously bad, but the story is fairly well written and paced and the acting is well above average for a Full Moon flick of this caliber. Lots of blood, lots of nudity, and moderate gore should please splatter enthusiasts, however mainstream horror fans should stay away. But if you are a fan of Full Moon, I can't help but recommend this film.

4-0 out of 5 stars definately worth your while
a definate gothic sound track with portray an erie atmosphere in which the movie will play around...Although the acting isn't the best and the movie at times is a little choppy it is worth your time to sit and watch. Maybe even to buy so you could enjoy it more than once.

3-0 out of 5 stars Subspecies 3 1/2
This can be considered Subspecies 3.5 as it takes place between Subspecies 3 & 4, and some characters from Vampire Journals even turn up on Subspecies 4. Though not near as good as the Subspecies series, this is still worth a look. Great atmosphere and lighting. What this film suffers from is sub-par acting. Sure everyone looks good in the film, but the acting hinders it. This film is still a must for Subspecies fans and worth a look for Ann Rice fans, because the subject material is closely related to Interview With the Vampire, only with a much lower budget.

4-0 out of 5 stars Vampire Journals
I think this movie was very romantic yet dramatic. I just wish that it was longer and told more of what became of the lady and her vampire friend. Great movie!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars great vampire pic
I really enjoyed this one. I saw it on the sci-fi channel a year ago and then I found in at a local store which sells movies and I bought it. I liked the setting and the way its all played out. you got a master who takes a woman who plays piano this one vampire(good vampire, I think his names Zack) likes and then Zack comes and kills them all. the end where the master comes out in a hall where Zack chases him with a sweet sword and then flings him off the top into sunlight below is the highlight. highly recommended if your a vampire movie fan ... 3-0 out of 5 stars FREDA PAYNE, STICK TO SINGING!! :)
C'mon, now, Full Moon Pictures...if you wanted to cast the role of a priestess of voodoo/black magic, Freda Payne didn't do the job here. She's such a great songstress to feature in this 2-bit role. In fact, at times I sensed she sang her lines, rather than spoke them! While the movie had it's high points, it was more comical than scary. More like a '90s version of Blacula! Hmmm...also who's the ruff-n-tuff guy who goes in-and-out of personalities ranging from Little Richard to Mike Tyson! What a riot!! The ragdoll puppet would have been more effective if special effects were geared to body movements, rather than motion-gliding through her slash scenes. The kids can stay up and watch this one...just them them the blood is grape jelly!! Great soundtrack from some unknowns, too!!

3-0 out of 5 stars FREDA PAYNE AND BLACK MAGIC DON'T MIX...

4-0 out of 5 stars A heart-pounding indie you'll want to own!!
Ragdoll is one of the most chilling, exciting movies I've ever seen! The story is about a kid (Quama) who accidently "conjures up the magic of the killin' kind" when, with the help of Shadow Man, he brings a (rag)doll to life. He summons the ragdoll to kill an evil music company boss who wants his music group to sign a contract. But, something goes wrong when Quama tells Shadow Man he can have anything he wants. . . .what Quama doesn't know is that every person Ragdoll kills that Quama wants dead, it also kills one of his FRIENDS!! Watch and see what happens in this fun, amazing film. Well casted and well played, great peice of work!

2-0 out of 5 stars "Chucky" meets BET: low-budget slowmovin' but funny as hell!
If you want a "good movie"--"good" as in "well written and well acted"--then take reviewer #1's advice and press on. But if you're in the mood for a funny as hell low-budget remake of CHILD'S PLAY with blackfolk, then RAGDOLL is a treat. Set in contemporary New Orleans, I picked up this film because of the concept and its cast. The concept isn't original, but a horror film peopled almost entirely by blackfolk? That, at least, should get a screening. But, like the previous reviewer, I nearly ejected the joint with the quickness. No spoilers, but the opening scene was too laughable for words. Made to give the film some historical background, this scene is beyond belief. Think MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000. Problem is, MST is to be campy, while these folk look like they are really trying hard. Add this with the producers' obvious attempts to pass a wanna-be hip hop video as a movie, then there is no surprise why reviewer #1 fell out. Fortunately I watched this with good company, who had a great sense of humor. After the slow set up, the film picks up pace when THE RAGDOLL starts whoopin' folks' *! Here's a line from RAGDOLL that made the movie for me:

"Girl, pass the paprika! Can't you see this man putting gris-gris on me?!"

The delivery is priceless. I'm giving RAGDOLL two stars for that alone.

Enjoy!
