4-0 out of 5 stars This Show Should Have Complete Season DVD Boxsets!!
I was a baby, only a couple of months old when I Dream of Jeannie aired on TV for the first time and I grew up watching the reruns in the 70's. All of the episodes on this tape are great but I really think they should put out I Dream of Jeannie on DVD in complete season boxsets because I think DVDs would be so much better then video tapes that wear out easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jeannie and her Master versus Gilligan and the President
"Genie in Training" features three above-average episodes of "I Dream of Jeannie," the NBC sitcom that aired from 1965 to 1970 and introduced television to Larry Hagman while making sure we never saw Barbara Eden's navel. First up is "Happy Anniversary" (Episode 31), written by series creator Sidney Sheldon. This is the opening episode of the show's second season, the first shown in living color, with a new cartoon opening and the familiar theme song. Jeannie has big plans for enjoying the first anniversary of her bottle being discovered by Tony, who, of course, has forgotten all about it and is due to be sent into orbit. History repeats itself as Tony crash lands on their island, but this time the bottle holds not Jeanie, but the Blue Djinn (Michael Ansara), the evil genie who imprisoned our heroine two thousand years ago. Looks like Major Nelson will appreciate Jeannie a lot more after this one.

In "My Master, the Weakling" (Episode 66), Don Rickles plays physical trainer Commander "Killer" Kiski, who decides Tony and Roger (Billy Daily) are weaklings and need to be whipped into shape. However, Jeannie will only put up for this nonsense for so long before turns the tables on "Killer" by giving him the temperament of his sweet old auntie. Look quick for David Soul as an orderly, years before he went on to fame in "Starsky & Hutch."

Finally, "My Son the Genie" (Episode 74), has Bob Denver visiting the Nelsons as Harold, an apprentice genie who has to spend the day with Jeannie to complete his training. The problem is that the President of the United States is coming to dinner to congratulate Tony on his latest trip into space and Harold insists on making the dinner. Wackiness ensues, as you would expect with any sit com on which Bob Denver appears. For fans of Jeannie this is one of the better tapes available.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why I Like This Video
I love this video! It has some of the best shows from the T.V. series! I fell over laughing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Retro Fun
I love Sixties/Seventies television, and I DREAM OF JEANNIE is one of my ultra faves.

Barbara Eden plays Jeannie with a cool sexiness, with a kooky and naive nature as well. She is a woman, yet she is also the 'girl next door'. Jeannie's sister (also played by Barbara Eden) is the exact opposite;amorous, wise to the ways of the world, and an evil vixen to boot! Larry Hagman plays Major Anthony Nelson as a smart yet obviously a little simple man,who cannot comprehend or know his way around the spontanious Jeannie.

This was a fantastic show which ran for 5 years, but ran out of steam and story ideas when Anthony and Jeannie got married. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I Agree
Buying a video without knowing what episodes are on it is very risky, like a roll of the dice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two superb episodes from the second season of "Gunsmoke"
This videotape offers up a couple of first-rate episodes from the second season of "Gunsmoke," back when the landmark Western was still a half-hour black & white series. In "Sins of the Father" (Episode #56, January 19, 1957) Angie Dickinson guest stars as Rose Daggit, the Indian wife of a man who takes a room at the Doge House. Well, Mr. Dobie disapproves and demands that Marshall Dillon (James Arness) evict them. Of course, Matt refuses, so Dobie decides to turn the whole town against the Indian. This episode certainly shows why "Gunsmoke" was the defining program for the Adult Western era of prime-time television programming, because "Sins of the Father" does not shy away from a realistic ending. "The Last Fling" (Episode 65, March 23, 1957) finds Miss Kitty (Amanda Blake) threatening to shoot a drunken old coot named John Peavy (Florenz Ames) who keeps bothering her. Of course, when Peavy is shot, Kitty is the prime suspect. But when somebody tries to kill Kitty as well, we learn the Peavy had a dark side. Another episode dealing with another adult theme, specifically wife abuse. I caught some of the color Gunsmokes in the Sixties, but these early episodes are just so much better. No wonder this program ran 20 years. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Robertta
I just love the old black and white Gunsmoke's. They start with what I call 'the sermon on the mount' where Marshall Dillon walks through the graves on boot hill and talks about what one minute in time can change the course of a man's life. The Hot Spell makes you feel warm, you can feel the heat from the prairie through the TV. I'm a long time fan of the Gunsmoke crew, and especially James Arness. Great guy!

4-0 out of 5 stars A welcome offering from the early era of the show.
Of the two episodes, "Word of Honor" is the best. DocAdams tries to save the life of a boy who has been shot while tryingto escape from kidnappers. When the boy dies, the kidnappers let Doc live, but threaten to kill him if he tells anyone who they are. Doc gives his "word of honor" that he will not. He decides to figure out a way to keep his word while setting a trap that will bring the killers to justice. To viewers primarily familiar with the later color episodes of "Gunsmoke," Milburn Stone's portrayal of Doc will seem much more cratchety and ornery here, as he was playing the character the way he was written for the radio version. Claude Akins is good as the leader of the kidnap gang.

"Hot Spell" stars John Dehner as a troublemaker who manages to antagonize one of Dodge City's most respectable citizens without actually stepping outside the law. This of course creates a problem for Matt Dillon. Not a bad episode, exploring the frequent "Gunsmoke" theme (at least in the B&W episodes) of ambiguity. ... Read more
