5-0 out of 5 stars The Hulk's Best!!
When I was a little kid growing up I was always the fat kid who got picked on. Knowing that the Hulk had to go through the same thing helps me to like him more. In this movie the Hulk does what you want an action hero to do he takes on the communist's, modern day pirates, searches for buried treasure, and of course gets the girl in the end. Hulk Hogan deleivered a fine performance as an action hero and made a sound video. When one reviewer may pick on the video because the special effects were not that great it's because the show did not have a larger budget. (Most of it was spent on the boat).

This video is great for any kid who grew up watching the Hulk on the WWF and remembers him as one of wrestlings greatest champions who gave us an important code to live by. The Hulkster does not disappoint any one with this video. Long live the greatest wrestler of all time, long live the Hulkster.

well...i loved thunder in paradise as a kid and now it is a great trip through memory lane to be able to see it again

1-0 out of 5 stars THUNDER IN PARADISE Review!
When Hulk Hogan wasn't bodyslamming wrestlers in the WWF or WCW, he liked to try his hand at acting. In this two-hour pilot to the syndicated TV series, Hogan is R.J. Spencer, a Navy Seal with an elite super boat called "Thunder" that can fly across the ocean at almost light speed. Paired with zany sidekick, Bru, the two battle drug dealers, jewel theives, and of course, the Cuban government. There is one enemy too powerful though as the government won't fund their boat and they could lose it. Meanwhile, a snobby hotel owner, Megan Whittaker (Felicity Watterman) could lose it all if she isn't married before a certain date. This sets up an indecent preposal where Spencer and Megan agree to get married.

This one has it all from old wrestlers like Brutus Beefcake and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart to sexy supermodel Carol Alt as a cocktail waitress. Don't forget Charlotte Rae as Megan's aunt. It doesn't get much better than this. Look out for a super realistic heat-seeking missle. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The two classic Brady Bunch Marcia, Marcia, Marcia episodes
We are not talking lofty standards here when we recognize the fact that this particular set of episodes from "The Brady Bunch" contains two of the show's signature episodes from the perspective of American pop culture. The common denominator here is the oldest female Brady, Marcia (Maureen McCormick), in what are clearly her two most famous misadventures. "Getting Davy Jones" (Episode #61, December 10, 1971) has Marcia promising to get teenage hearthrob Davy Jones of the Monkees to sing at her school prom. Unfortunately, this appearance is news to Davy. Good thing this is a television comedy otherwise this would end badly for Marcia. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia gets her comeuppance in "The Subject Was Noses" (Episode #90, February 9, 1973), when she gets hit in the nose with a football. The nose swells up like a balloon and because of the disfigurement Marcia's boyfriend Doug Simpson (Nicholas Hammond) ditches her. Obviously no great loss, but it sure bothers little miss vanity. For fan's of neglected sister Jan this has to be the most popular episode of "The Brady Bunch" ever. You do not have to like these episodes let alone "The Brady Bunch," but you do have to at least know about them as touchstones of pop culture. P.S. Pay attention to the guest stars besides Davy Jones on these episodes and their importance in television history. The first one has Marcia Wallace, who went on to success on "The Bob Newhart Show" as receptionist Carol Kester and who know provides the voice for Bart's teacher Edna Krabappel on "The Simpsons." Nicholas Hammond from the other episode ended up as television's "Spider-Man" after being one of the Von Trapp children in "The Sound of Music."

5-0 out of 5 stars Girl, look what you've done to me ....
Classic Brady! Do you know any girl who, not only got a rock star to play at her prom, but got a date out of him? Only Marcia could pull this off! I remember when it originally aired in the 70's and had dreams of meeting the infamous Monkee (OK, I was 6 years old and hadn't discovered "Tiger Beat" yet). The clothes and hairdews alone make the episode (check out Davey's dorky mananger and Marcia's groovy poncho). On a footnote: did actually meet Davey 15 years later during a Monkees Reunion, a disappointment. Better on tape, than in person.

3-0 out of 5 stars Of course it's stupid fantasy...
and this video is worth the money just to hear the black girl in the Davy Jones episode ask Marcia (referring to Davy) -- all excited and bubbly -- "is he as neat as he looks?" Yeah, right. I like the end of the episode when Marcia and Davy stand side by side, and you can get an idea of just how short Davy is - he is shorter than Maureen McCormick. The "oh my nose" episode is pure fantasy -- and as for Marcia episode it's right up there with the Romeo and Juliet and braces episode --the family that paints together? Marcia's swollen nose disappears overnight? The Big Man on Campus asks Marcia out? She ultimately chooses Charlie the awkward delivery boy? And in the former episode, Marcia enters Davy's recording studio -- while he's recording no less -- without any problems? If you ask these questions then you definitely won't enjoy it. If you don't care about reality...then this is the best! Crank up "Girl" and drive your neighbors nuts!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Show For Its Pure and Utter Stupidity
The Brady Bunch is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's ridiculously cheesey and stupid and unrealistic, but it's a great show to watch and make fun of. Plus it's a good show to help cheer you up, or to watch when you're sick.

Still, it's pretty stupid. I mean (everyone knows this already) the Brady family is SO perfect, what with the dad always giving horrible speeches everytime the kids say something mean to each other (they don't much, though), but most of the time he just does the ridiculous speeches for no reason. The kids are terriblly happy all the time, and the situations they always get themselves into are just plain dumb!

Carol Brady (Florence Henderson) is only there to say stuff like "Oh, Mike," or "Your father's right." The kids are all very one dimensional yet fun to watch. Alice does nothing but say dumb jokes however I respect Ann B. Davis as an actress (not that she is one anymore).

Of course everyone also know that the late Michael Reed dispised this show, and he had good reason, especially with the way his character acts. Everyone seems to regret starring on this show! Serious. Just watch the E True Hollywood Story on The Brady Bunch, and see. Susan Olsen (Cindy) sais she's been stereotyped ever since. Barry Williams (Greg) claims it's now very hard to get a job, and Florence Henderson sais the show was to unrealistic, and so on.

Still, you gotta love the show. How can't you? The people that hate this show have no heart. I'm mean, it's a horrible show, but it's a wonderful show! Sound strange? Sorry, but come on, even you people who bash it here really love it, and you know it. Why? Because it's really entertaining, and some episodes are actually GOOD (the Hawaii episode early in the show).

Don't buy these DVDs, the show is on all the time. But do buy the Brady movies, they're hilarious!

For Pamela, I'm sorry David didn't fulfill your dreams. He is really a wonderful guy - YOU should try to make EVERYONE happy for a while and see how you do at it! David would feel terrible that he hurt your feelings. I've gotten to know him in the last few years, and he is sweet, charming, kind and considerate. Whatever happened at the concert you attended, he had his reasons for his behavior. He's not perfect - but then neither are ANY of us!! Please don't defile his character. He gets enough S**t from fair-weather fans who don't "know" him . He's a very special guy!! Give it another try - things will work out better next time!! Believe me, it's worth the effort!! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The birth of Jeannie!
Jeannie comes to live with her master in these two episodes, that debuted Jeannie's series!

In 'The Lady In The Bottle', Anthony finds Jeannie's bottle and releases the glamorous girl for the first time!

'My Hero?' has Jeannie sending Anthony back to her old Arabian village to marry him. Anthony is more than a little taken aback!

The pilot has also made an appearance on video in a ghastly colorised version, which omits Jeannie's subtitles on the island and changes the opening credits to not include the supporting player's names. Pure sacrilage!

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Great Episodes including the Pilot!
In the pilot episode, "The Lady In The Bottle", Captain Tony Nelson's spaceship crashes on a deserted desert island. He finds a bottle on the beach and a beautiful Genie (Jeannie) comes out of it!

In the second episode, "My Hero",Jeannie "blinks" Captain Nelson back to ancient Persia where he meets another Genie. This one is a huge, nasty, male Genie named Ali and he doesn't care too much for Captain Nelson. Jeannie also comes to the mistaken conclusion that she and Captain Nelson will be getting married! When Captain Nelson tells her that his plans are different, she leaves him at the mercy of Ali!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a must see and have for any IDOJ fan!!
In glorious black and white film, captured for the ages by the magic of video tape, is the pilot episode of I Dream of Jeannie. Conceived, written and produced by famed author Sidney Sheldon, the pilot episode sets the stage for what was to become a five season run on NBC. In the pilot, Captain Anthony Nelson finds himself stranded on a deserted island in the South Pacific after his space mission is aborted. While trying to spell out the distress signal SOS with shells and beach debris, he stumbles upon an odd shaped, old bottle and upon opening it forever changes his life when in a burst of smoke suddenly appears our beloved Barbara Eden. The episode follows a comic and rapid pace from this point after Captain Nelson is rescued and returns home to Coco Beach. Little does he realize that the genie he had said goodbye to on the beach cunningly becomes a stowaway in his duffle bag. What is very interesting about this episode is that the viewer walks away knowing that the two main characters (Jeannie and Cpt. Nelson) will build a very interesting relationship. To what degree, the viewer won't know...they'll just need to tune in to other espisodes. Also interesting to note is that IDOJ appears to be the first show that deals with a male and a female co-habitating outside of wedlock. (very progressive for 1965 society). I highly reccommend this video for any fan or anyone who has never seen the show, or anyone who likes a lady running around in a red velvet bolero jacket and sheer harem pants!!! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Thunder In Paradise 2
Hulk Hogan and Chris Lemmon are back as those Navy SEAL do-gooders in this sequel (well, it's actually just a 2-part series from the first season of the syndicate show). This time, they have to save their cocktail waitress friend, Kelly (played by the beautiful Carol Alt) from being forced to marry an evil General.

The script is just as lame as any of the others in this pretty goofy series but you will get a kick out of some of the gags here. It doesn't get much sillier than this but there is a whole lot of action and it is appropriate for the whole family.

5-0 out of 5 stars CLEVERLY WRITTEN SUPREME ACTION ADVENTURE!
This beautifully written action-adventure is the best of the series! I originally rented this at the video store since I'm a huge Carole Alt fan, and I could see she was well featured in this movie. Okay, so I was a bit embarrassed checking out a Hulk Hogan movie... but WOW... this one was a total delight! Move over "Rush Hour" and "Double Take", and all those action-adventure comedies... the duo of Hulk and Chris Lemmon, Carole Alt's charm and beauty (she's never looked more beautiful than in this movie), and the awesome production values makes this perfect summertime viewing. You can also watch it again and again, and if you have children... it's perfect for them. The action is more fun than bloody, and the use of Hulk's daughter (that is, the actress playing his daughter) in the film gives the movie a great "attitude" for kids to watch and feel apart of the adventure. In the movie Carole's character shares a "mutual" dream with a far-away prince, which brings them together, and makes her trust this "dreamboat" enough to take her back with him to "Kismet". Unfortunately his motives are not all fairy tale, and she is held prisoner, causing Hulk and Chris (and "Spence" and "Bru") to come to the rescue. The dialogue (it was written by Tom Greene), is amazingly clever, characters well drawn out (Bru and Spenser's "food tasting trick" on a prison guard is a down right classic, and their comic timing is up there with Laurel and Hardy!), and the direction (by Doug Schwartz), is just plain wonderful! Special attention should also be taken to one of the most exciting and hysterical chase sequences, again, beautifully directed, up and down the Middle East buildings, culminating in a delightful "back and forth" with Bru and Spence, right up there with the "cliff jumping scene" in "Butch Cassidy". Also, Ms. Alt shows a wonderful comic flair which I wish producer's would allow her to show off in all her movies... especially the Italian ones. She is a gem! I'm sure there wasn't a very big budget for this movie, so I really was astonished at how "big" the movie looks. It's more "Indiana Jones" than the usual low-rent Hulk Hogan movies. There are three movies you can buy and/or rent. This one is "Thunder In Paradise 2", and as I said, is the absolutely best of the group. Beware... the first one is a rehash of the pilot TV series which was done with a different crew and production staff (though the same director, who does his very best with a very bad script, not written by the author of this one), and the third one, though much better than number one, just doesn't have the slick adventure "free-for-all" that this one... number 2... has throughout. If you can't afford to buy this new, you can get it at a huge discount in the "used" section, or if it's not here on Amazon, try E-Bay which seems to have it at a discount. Or, by all means rent it for the whole family. It's a joy. Especially with the dearth of good family adventure entertainment out there right now!

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE GREAT TELEVISION SERIES
James Garner is one of the finest actors in television history. Unlike many actors in long-running series, he gives a fine performance in every episode. The true charm of the series is a combination of his acting ability and the terrific supporting cast and guest stars in addition to great script writing. The episodes are not simply "action" stories but frequently deal with the psychology of the various leading characters as well as the social mores of the United States and more specifically Southern California in the 1970's, sometimes seriously, sometimes in a satirical or humorous way, but always interesting.
Why isn't there TV like this any more?

3-0 out of 5 stars Great episode, slightly flawed presentation.
This is a clever episode from the show's brilliant first season. Private eye Jim Rockford tries to track down a man who may have faked his death to grab a $400,000 insurance claim. James Garner already seemed completely comfortable in the shoes of Rockford, and there's great support from guest star Jill Clayburgh (who manages to look cute in a '70s-style afro).

For diehard fans of the series, however, there's a rather egregious cut made of a crucial scene that shows how Jim gets out of a scrape. Viewers who haven't seen the missing footage will find themselves wondering what happened. It seems that MCA Home Video used a syndication print, rather than an original master. In sum, then, five stars for the episode and the visual quality of the print -- but two stars must be subtracted from the overall rating given the editing.

"Rockford," by the way, is a series that cries out for a comprehensive release in the Columbia House Video Library series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "Twenty thousand dollars buys a lot of gro-cer-ies."
I've bought all the "Rockford Files" episodes that seem to be on the market (except for "Nice Guys Finish Dead"), and this one, "The Kirkoff Case", is my favorite of them. It's entertaining from start to finish, and it exemplifies the producers' ability to pack so many memorable, humourous, yet believeable scenes into so little time without making things seem rushed.

Guest star James Woods is superb as Larry Kirkoff, particularly in those distracted-in-thought facial expressions he makes a few times while Rockford is talking to him. Regular Joe Santos is especially strong in his performance as Sgt. Dennis Becker. And guest Abe Vigoda is perfect in appearance, voice, and subtle hand movements in his brief role as "labor-union" (mob) boss Al Dancer.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too Faithless Adaptation-Stick To The Books!
John Jakes' "Kent Family Chronicles" novels have long been favorites of mine and it was because of that, that I decided to recently revisit the television adaptations of the first three novels in the series from the late 1970s. Of them, the adaptation of the first novel "The Bastard" was the best, being the most faithful translation of novel to screen with most of Jakes' dialogue left unchanged and only streamlined in spots. Unfortunately in volume two, "The Rebels" there are a number of drastic changes and departures from Jakes' novel and the end result is very unsatisfying. For one thing, in Jakes' novel Philip Kent and Judson Fletcher never meet! We are also given a totally different fate for Philip's wife Anne, and many characters who had returned from "The Bastard" in the novel, such as Alicia Amberly and Captain Will Caleb are nowhere to be found in this adaptation, robbing it of some of its depth. On top of that we get a too abrupt subplot invented for the film of Philip's father, James Amberly (Richard Basehart) coming to America and confronting his son, but what should have made for an interesting scene of drama is dispensed with too abruptly in an unsatisfying fashion. In the end, the changes are just too great to make a fan of the book appreciate the effort.

The one redeeming feature of "The Rebels" however that makes it worth seeing is William Daniels reprising his "1776" role as John Adams (in another touch of irony, Daniels played Cousin Sam Adams in "The Bastard"), and this time showing his depth as an actor by playing Adams closer to historical reality than the famous musical allowed. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars You are invited to the wedding of Jeannie and Tony Nelson
If you do not know what episode you get with "I Dream of Jeannie: Jeannie Ties the Knot," then you must have given up on this classic Sixties sitcom before it went from black & white to color. The show debuted on September 18, 1965 when astronaut Tony Nelson (Larry Hagman) first landed his space capsule on a desert island and game across a bottle containing a 2,000-year-old genie named Jeannie (Barbara Eden). She promptly proclaimed him to be her master and went to work serving him faithfully and making his life a mess. Of course Jeannie was in love with Tony and while their relationship was platonic for the first couple of seasons, during which she sabotaged his dates, eventually they confessed their love for each other and on December 1, 1969, the two tied the knot in the two consecutive episodes collected on this videotape.

Episode #124 "The Wedding" starts with Jeannie so busy daydreaming about her wedding that she almost misses the real one. Meanwhile, Tony has his own problem. As a famous astronaut his wedding is news which means photographers will be taking pictures and it seems genies do not show up on film (although strangely enough the show has been preserved on videotape for us to view today). The big surprise, beyond the appearance of Tony's parents, is that this really is a rather touching little wedding and Jeannie's wedding gown is very nice. If you are a romantic this one might get to you, even if you are not a fan of the show. For fans of the show, this one has to be a keeper.

Episode #125, "My Sister the Home Wrecker" finds the honeymoon might be over quicker than anyone things because Jeannie's sister Jeannie (Barbara Eden in a dark wig) is in town to break up the happily married couple. Jeannie (dark hair) pretends to be Jeannie (blonde hair) and makes a move on Tony's fellow astronaut, the debonair Biff Jellico (Michael Ansara). This has Roger Healy (Bill Daily), Dr. Bellows (Hayden Rorke), and Amanda Bellows (Emmaline Henry) all in shock at Jeannie's public displays. But the great twist here is that Biff falls for Jeannie (dark hair) and comes clean to Tony. Television fans will also be pointing their fingers at Roger's girlfriend Cindy, who is played by Farrah Fawcett. So in addition to the wedding episode, "Jeannie Ties the Knot" has one of the better double Jeannie episodes making it one of the better vidoes available in the limited collection of "I Dream of Jeannie" tapes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Here comes the bride!
Jeannie finally lands her master in this classic comedy!

'The Wedding' does not go smoothly as Jeannie cannot be photographed (she IS a genie, after all!) Anthony is not very impressed and nor is Bellows and his wife Amanda (Emmaline Henry).

'My Sister The Homewrecker' has Jeannie's evil twin try to break up the marriage, and she has a few crafty tricks up her sleeve!

5-0 out of 5 stars It was the perfect end and beginning for a brilliant show .
I love this episode of Jeannie . It has been seen by millions of people around the world . I think that Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman did a great job of portraying their characters and making them seem real . . . ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Jan Brady tries to emerge from sister Marcia's shadow
The people who put together these volumes of two episodes from "The Brady Bunch" did it right with the thematic approach that focuses on a particular character. This volume welcomes us to the unhappy world of Jan Brady (Eve Plump). As we all remember, Jan is the middle daughter in the Brady Bunch, but that does not matter because the cosmic joke played out repeatedly at Jan's expense is that she is the younger sister of Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, Marcia (Maureen McCormick). First up is "Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up?" (Episode #40, January 15, 1971) where Jan tries to change her personality with a brown wig. "Her Sister's Shadow" (Episode #59, November 19, 1971) has Jan trying to repeat her sister's success in the marvelous world of pom-poms. Actually, this is the episode where Jan finally arrives at the key insight in her psychological makeup when she admits that she wants to win at something so badly but does not know what to do. All too often we find the Brady's too be pathetic; but this is one time when Jan become a true figure of pathos. If you are a Jan fan, this volume of "The Brady Bunch" is the one you will treasure the most.

One of the great things about the Brady Bunch was that it was a show about some of the problems kids have to face while growing up. This video contains two classic episodes "Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up" and "Her Sister's Shadow". Marcia is one of the most popular, smartest, and prettiest girls in school. Both of these episodes deals with how Jan has to live in Marcia's shadow, resulting in some of the best episodes ever made. No Brady collection is complete without this video. A must for all Brady fans!

5-0 out of 5 stars Do you love the Brady Bunch? Then check this out!
Every Brady fan worthy of their bell bottom pants knows these two episodes already.

Do you remember when Jan decided to buy a black curly wig so she would stand out from her sisters? How about when Jan thought that Marsha's great accomplishments at school were overshadowing her own? - you know, the "Marsha, Marsha Marsha" episode?

The Brady Bunch is still as amazing a show, as it was in the 1970's with a following that is one-of-a-kind.

No Brady fan's collection would be complete without these two classic "Jan" episodes. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars QUINTESSENTIAL JIM!!!AWESOME EPISODE(S)!!!!!
Henri-a memorable encounter! It is hard to say that one scene is better than another. Order what you like but I strongly suggest the green corn tamales - a diamond in the rough...We can recite lines from this all day if necessary. Jim and his pal Kendall are classic in their repartee with Mr. Fantazzi in the costume shop - proving that it is true that brain surgery is not for everyone. Angel Martin with a dead rat between his teeth for $20.00 would be priceless to see-would go great with a bottle of Chateau Neuff de pop(sp?). It is possible that for you reading this that these names are meaningless. Samantha and her fellow witches are bedeviled by Halloween in thesetwo black-and-white 25-minute episodes specially packaged for the occasion. In "The Witches Are Out," Darrin (Dick York in both episodes) is fired afterrefusing to use a stereotyped old crone witch in an ad. So Samantha andfriends spook the client with protest signs and tricks until he gladly calls off his "discriminatory" campaign. In "Trick or Treat," Endora (AgnesMoorehead) is peeved that Samantha opts to entertain one of Darrin's clients on Halloween instead of joining her at the sacred volcano. So she turns her daughter's hapless husband into a werewolf during the business get-together as punishment. Watch for a pre-Brady Bunch Maureen McCormick as theyoung Endora. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Share the first two Halloweens with the "Bewitched" gang
Quick. Before "Roseanne" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" what television series made a point of having great Halloween episodes. Why, "Bewitched" of course. Collected on these VHS are the two Halloween episodes from the first two seasons of the series, which means we are still on the first Darrin and the shows are still in black & white:

"The Witches Are Out" is from the first season and finds Darrin (Dick York) stuck between the demands of his job at McMann & Tate and his wife. It seems his client, Mr. Brinkman (Shelley Berman), wants to advertise his Halloween candy using images of ugly, frightening witches. Of course, Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) is upset. As a child she and her mother used to leave the country so they would not have to look at those ugly masks. So Sam gets a protest rally of witches together to make a stand against those who are bigoted against witches. Note: This episode was written by Bernard Slade, who would go on to write the Broadway play "Same Time, Next Year."

"Trick or Treat" from the second season tells a similar story. Samantha and Darrin are having the Tates (David White and Irene Vernon) and a client, Jack Rogers (Jack Collins), who makes costumes, over on Halloween. However, Endora (Agnes Moorehead) is outraged that her daughter would celebrate a holiday that condones bigotry. So Endora shows up as a young trick-or-treater (Maureen McCormick, the Kirsten Dunst of her generation) and turns Darrin into a werewolf. The problem is that everybody else at the party thinks it is just a great costume. Meanwhile, Sam takes Endora to task for having lived up to the very stereotype of the evil witch that she abhors.

Of course, there is an interesting sub-text for both of these episodes dealing with the subject of prejudice, although the message might be a bit too subtle for some viewers. But that is okay because Sam is a good witch, and Elizabeth Montgomery was a fine actress who managed to make all of this nonsense work. However, I have to wonder if I am the only one who remembers the "National Lampoon" version of "Bewitched," drawn by Berni Wrightston, when they see these classic Halloween episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars true classics
All I have to say is, these two episodes are a true stand out in "classic tv". "Bewitched" is my favorite of all tv series, for I grew up with it, but just in all areas these shows make you want to say, "Ah yes, those were the days". If you like television at it's best, buy this tape...you won't be sorry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Cool!
This is certainly an endearing Halloween classic! With "Bewitched" being such a good show in itself, it's not suprising to see this well-made, well-acted collection of shows on video to really enjoy yourself this Halloween- or anytime!

Trick or Treat

When Darrin insists that Samantha insists that Samantha forgo a Halloween witches celebration in favor of intertaining Darrins clints for dinner, Endora sees red. She hexes Darrin with a spell that will gladually turn him into a werewolf, setting the stage for a howling good time as darrin and Samantha try to hide his new beastly personality from their guest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining and funny
I have to admit I was surprised how much I enjoyed these two episodes, but the enthusiasm and humor of the two episodes quickly won me over. I really liked Elizabeth Montgomery. It is easy to see why she is so popular. If you want a funny and light hearted Halloween video, this one is a great choice. ... Read more

Back before her two Oscars, before "You like me, you really like me," Sally Field was the young darling of TV sitcoms, first as the beach bunny Gidget, and then, improbably, as the young nun Sister Bertrille whose starched cornette doubled as an aerodynamic apparatus. In the first of the two Christmas episodes included here, Sister Bertrille and the other nuns at the Sisters of Convent San Tanco in Puerto Rico are preparing for their holiday gift exchange. An ailing Norwegian nun, Sister Olaf, allows that her one Christmas wish is for snow like she experienced as a girl, an impossibility in tropical San Juan. Or is it? Sister Bertrille employs her gift of flight to ensure everyone has a memorable Christmas. The second episode involves a young Jewish girl who becomes so enthralled with the nuns that she decides she wants to become one herself; it's up to Sister Bertrille to gently dissuade her from her hasty career decision. As with most 1960s sitcoms, logic and deep character development are not strong suits, but Field's determination and winning chirpiness, as well as a tart supporting cast (especially Marge Redmond as sidekick Sister Jaqueline), make watching these episodes a cozy exercise in nostalgia. --Anne Hurley ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming Old Fashioned Christmas Viewing
Here are two episodes from the totally delightful late 1960's comedy series "The Flying Nun" starring Sally Field as the perky and lovable Sister Bertrille. Despite being the target for alot of todays quite hardened critics this terrific little series lives on in people's hearts. I know I grew up watching it and still hold it in great affection.

This tape is the Christmas special and contains two episodes from the first season of the show. The first is the only Christmas themed episode of the series "Walking In A Winter Wonderland" which is a sentimental delight as Sister Bertrille gets into all types of trouble trying to bring to reality a dying wish of a visiting nun from Norway who wants to see one last white christmas. The second episode from later in the first season "The Reconversion Of Sister Shapiro" while not a Christmas episode is almost as good when a young jewish girl stays at the convent and wants to be just like her idol Sister Bertrille , even to the point of her wearing a nun's habit at eight years of age!

"The Flying Nun' had a sweet innocent quality to it but also benefited from a terrific cast of very talented performers. Sally Field of course went on to become a great dramatic actress and double Oscar winner while the supporting cast boasted the talented Broadway actress Madeleine Sherwood in the role of the stern but caring Reverend Mother of the convent and the terrific Marge Redmond as Sister Jacqueline, Sister Bertrille's friend and cohort in many schemes around the convent.

"The Flying Nun" is television from the closing period of the age of innocence but this tape makes for delightful viewing in the festive season. The first episode in particular will be guaranteed to bring a tear to your eye with its simple message of love and hope. Enjoy Sally Field and her nun friends in "The Flying Nun Christmas" ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Three episodes from near the end of "I Dream of Jeannie"
The three episodes collected on "Jeannie's Seeing Stars" come from late in the run of the classic television sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie." By this point Jeannie (Barbara Eden) is married to her master, Major Anthony Nelson (Larry Hagman), with best friend Major Roger Healy (Bill Daily) still in on the secret, which is more than can be said for Dr. Alfred Bellows (Hayden Rorke). None of these episodes would really be considered classics, but they are all certainly representative of the show:

"The Biggest Star in Hollywood" (Episode #106) finds Tony heading for Hollywood, so Jeannie prepares a goodbye that shows up in a mirror. The producers of "Laugh-In" are impressed by the trick and just have to have her on the show. Seeing yet another opportunity to become rich and famous, Roger becomes the manager for the Princess Armena, and promises to have her on the show. "Laugh-In" regulars Arte Johnson, Judy Carne, and Gary Owens appear in this average outing.

"Help, Help, a Shark" (Episode #134) features Jim Backus as General Fitzhugh, the longtime rival of General Schaeffer (Vinton Hayworth), who are competing for a spot in the All-Military Pool Championships. When Tony ruins Schaeffer's big game his only chance to avoid being sent to the North Pole is to play Fitzhugh in a rematch. The good news is that with Jeannie on his side, Tony is sure to win. The bad news is that Fitzhugh refuses to play with a woman in the room. Of course a large part of the pleasure here is the guest appearance by Thurston Howell III himself, which makes this the best episode of this particular trio.

"My Master the Chili King" (Episode #139) has Arvel (Gabriel Dell), who is Tony's cousin (twice removed) showing up and convincing Jeannie to invest $1,000 in his great recipe for Texas chili. She buys his story that Tony has agreed to endorse the product and promptly blinks up cans with his picture on them and gets them on the shelves in every grocery store in the area. The only problem is that NASA does not let its astronauts endorse products. A solid outing as far as such things go, the episode also has Dick Van Patten as the clerk at the market.

As is usually the case, the big surprise is noting how good of a comic actor Larry Hagman was on this show, before he made his mark as J.R. Ewing on "Dallas." Just watch how many times he gets to do an over the top reaction to Jeannie's antics in "Help, Help, a Shark." Just do not look for Barbara Eden's navel, because although it did get seen a couple of times, these are not those episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best TV Sitcom From The 60's
I love I Dream Of Jeannie.I watch I Dream Of Jeannie on TVLand.I like this first episode in Black & White is when Major Anthony Nelson found Jeannie on the beach.I like it when Jeannie turns into pink smoke to get into her bottle & to get out of her bottle. And also like it when Jeannie blink herself to make herself disappear.Barbara Eden did a good job playing both Jeannie & her sister. And Larry Hagman did a good job playing Major Anthony Nelson.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Dream of I Dream Of Jeannie on Complete Season DVD Boxsets
I really like this! I Dream of Jeannie first appeared on TV the year that I was born and I'm not sure how many seasons this charming, funny classic had but I do remember watching the show when it went into syndicated reruns when I was a little girl and really enjoying it. Barbara Eden was really charming as the pretty and sweet but mischievous and fun loving Jeannie and a young Larry Hagman was really great too, he was handsome and funny as astronaut Anthony Nelson who rescued Jeannie from her bottle. Also good in this show are Bill Daley as Anthony's best-friend and fellow astronaut Roger Healey and the guy who played Doctor Bellows. (Sorry I can't think of his name right now but I think his first name was Hayden). I would love to see I Dream of Jeannie put on DVD in complete season boxsets!

5-0 out of 5 stars Jeannie does it again!
In these episodes, Jeannie charms not only the viewers, but famous actors from the 60's,including stars from the hit shows, "Laugh-In"& ""Gilligan's Island." This is truly some of my favorite episodes! A must see! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Brady Bunch Should Have Complete Season DVD Boxsets!
I was 4 years old when The Brady Bunch aired on TV for the first time and I grew up watching some of the original airings and the syndicated reruns. These two episodes are very good. My favorite is the episode titled Tattletale where Cindy drives everyone crazy with her constant snitching which results in Alice the housekeeper's boyfriend Sam getting mad at Alice and breaking her heart by cancelling their date and Cindy has to set things right. The episode Law & Disorder is good too. Bobby becomes a hall safetly monitor at school and he angers his friends when he becomes way too bossy and at home he makes everyone mad when he accuses them of breaking the rules including Greg who was late getting home, but it turns out that Greg had a very good reason for being late and soon Bobby will learn a lesson when has to break a rule to help a friend find her cat who is lost in an old condemned house. It's great that these two episodes are on tape but I would really like to see the whole show get on DVD in complete season DVD boxsets!

5-0 out of 5 stars BRADYS ARE PRICELESS
I have to admit, I was skeptical at first about buying this video..being a big time Brady fan...I am glad I did..will buy more..wish they had this on dvd...like some shows have a whole season...someone needs to do that with this classic show!

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The **BEST** TV Shows Ever Made!!
I grew up with the Brady Bunch. I have seen every episode at least three times. I have seen some episodes more than that. I hope to get this tape for Christmas. I love the episode Law & Disorder. It has always been one of my favorite episodes. I also love the Tattletale episode. It's so funny when Greg is making a face at Cindy in the beginning of the Tattletale episode.

If you haven't seen this show I suggest either buying this tape or watching it on TV Land or on Nick At Nite. You won't be sorry if you do.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great video collection
This video contains two of the best episodes involving the two youngest children, Cindy and Bobby. In the first episode, "The Tattletale", Cindy does what she does best: snitching. She drives the rest of the family crazy with her tattling. The second episode, "Law and Disorder", features Bobby, who wants to be the best hall monitor in school. However, he brings his job home with him and rats on all of his siblings.

These are two great episodes, especially for fans of the younger Bradys.

5-0 out of 5 stars These two episodes were really good for any Brady lover.
These episodes were really good, particulary because Cindy is my favorite character, and "The Tattletale" is focused around Cindy. In "Law and Disorder", Bobby wants to be a good safety monitor, but becomes really bossy at school and at home. He goes too far, but then he saves a girl's cat, and in doing so, he breaks a rule and rethinks the concept of rules. "The Tattletale" is about Cindy tattling on other people so much that the Brady kids start avoiding her. Then she tries to stop tattling so much that she almost loses something that is important to Alice. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Their Favorite Episodes
You can't really disagree with someone else's favorite episodes, they are THEIR favorites. For the most part, I found myself agreeing with the Monkees. While I think Mike's and Micky's pick are the standouts, I also enjoyed Peter's MONKEES vs. MACHINES.

I do wish Rhino would release a Monkees Holiday DVD with the two Halloween episodes and the Christmas installment featuring Butuch Patrck.

4-0 out of 5 stars Monkees discuss their shows
A nice concept by Rhino, having the four Monkees select and discuss their favorite episodes. The dvd shows the episodes in their entirity with bonus features including commercials featuring the Monkees and interviews with the band. Three of the four episodes are excellent, but the Davy Jones entry (Out to Sea) is a little weak. Since no other Monkees TV episodes are currently available on dvd, this disc is a must for any Monkees fan who wants to see the shows on a digital format. It also makes for a nice introduction to the group's shows for the new or casual fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good DVD "Stand In"
This disc was Rhino's first attempt to package Monkee episodes in the then-new DVD format. Clips of each of the Monkees from their 1997 documentary are used to introduce their favorite episodes.

It has already been noted that the episode that Davy mentions is really "Royal Flush" ("Hitting the High Seas" is shown instead as his favorite). "Royal Flush" would have been a better choice because it would've balanced the DVD better to have 2 episodes from the first season and 2 from the second, instead of having 3 from the second and only 1 from the first.

The film quality was a bit of a disappointment, especially during parts of "Fairy Tale". The quality is much better on Rhino's second Monkee DVD (Monkees Volume 1 & 2) although there are some good moments on this disc. Some of the episodes have the original end credits with Kellogg's products. It's fun on both discs to pause the picture and use the "step" button on your DVD remote to discover things that have never been noticed before on VHS copies.

The chapter breaks are much better than on Rhino's second Monkee DVD and there are actually breaks for all of the songs in each episode; even the Kellogg's commercial shown during Mijacogeo has a chapter break.

Since the DVD format was still young when Rhino released this, it has no extras, not even closed-captioning. It's too bad that the Monkees couldn't have recorded audio commentary in addition to introducing the episodes. A photo gallery and some more Kellogg's commercials wouldn't been a nice extra also.

Fans desparate for any Monkee episodes on DVD will want to pick this up but keep in mind that the VHS edition is packaged better in a retro-style metal Monkee lunchbox with a mini-ceral box and puzzle. This DVD will have to do as a "stand in" until Rhino gets around to issuing the entire series on DVD.

2-0 out of 5 stars Davy is little, but PETTY?!!
First off, I'm a 1st-gen fan (yes, I'm very old) and since this DVD has been well-covered by other reviewers, I wanted to use this space to explain Davy's choice of "Hitting The High Seas".

When this DVD was being produced, Davy was in the center of a protracted and one-sided snit with Michael Nesmith... seems the mystery surrounding Mike had drawn all the attention away from Davy, the self-professed heart-throb of the group, and Davy is not one who relinquishes attention easily. Its widely known that he chose this particular episode as his "fave" because Mike doesn't appear in it for more than 3 minutes! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Here it comes...the original Pilot episode of "The Monkees"
"Here Comes the Monkees" is the show's pilot episode but ends up airing as Episode #10 (November 14, 1966). The Monkees' manager sends the boys to the Riverdale Country Club to audition for a Sweet Sixteen Party for young Vanessa Russell. Sven Helstrom and his Swedish Rhythm King are no match for the Monkees and their rocking version of "I Wanna Be Free." But then Davy and Vanessa look at each other, stars shine in their eyes, and they are in love. The next thing we know, Vanessa is flunking history. This episode also includes the Monkees playing "Let's Dance On" at the actual party and screen tests of Davy and Mike. "Picture Frame" (Episode #34, September 18, 1967), also known as "The Bank Robbery," finds the boys being conned into robbing a bank because they think they are making a movie with hidden cameras. The giant chase sequence is done to "Pleasant Valley Sunday" while the show ends with "Randy Scouse Git." There is also an impromptu version of "Zilch" during the Police interrogation scene for those who insist upon completeness. These two episodes are as representative of the Monkees at their best as any volume in this collection. The formula established in the pilot is still clearly at the heart of "Picture Frame." What I find interesting is realizing that the group had different versions of some of their songs, such as the quicker tempo on "I Want to Be Free" in the pilot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Monkees!
I love this one! The first is their debut where they're hired to play at Vanessa's sweet 16 birthday party & after she falls for Davy, she starts failing history & the Monkees coach her for her test. It's classic, cute Monkees! In the 2nd episode, the guys get tricked into robbing a bank and get caught. Peter has to be the sleuth to save them. The songs on these episodes are "I Wanna Be Free", "Let's Dance On", "Pleasant Valley Sunday", and "Randy Scouse Git"-which is a fun "live-type" version.

5-0 out of 5 stars Volume 1 Episode Titles
These are two very enjoyable episodes. The first one is "Here Come the Monkees." It's a cute story, where the Monkees are hired to play for a sweet sixteen party. The second episode is "The Picture Frame." This one is really funny. Here, the boys are tricked into robbing a bank.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Episodes
This was a cool video all Monkees fans should have it. It was funny and entertaining and they were soooo adorable in it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A must have for a die hard fan
This tape is a nessesary part of any Monkee fans collection, although the beauty of it is lost on people other then die hards. ... Read more

"Diamonds, daisies, snowflakes... sable, popcorn, white wine... is that girl," describes the opening theme music of TV's That Girl about the independent Ann Marie, a young actress trying to make it on her own in New York City in the late 1960s. Before Mary Richards "made it after all" in Minneapolis, Marlo Thomas portrayed the feisty Ann, a seemingly feminist woman (by modern standards, her desire to please her father and her devotion to being the perfect girl for her boyfriend Donald seem less than liberated) who gets herself into scrapes and mishaps of the variety familiar to those who grew up on I Love Lucy as she attempts to become an actress.

The three episodes on "Auditions, Auditions, Auditions" deal, not surprisingly, with Ann's endeavors to get on the stage or screen. In the first, "Call of the Wild," Ann, for once, is upset to get a role:she wins the part of "Miss Creamy Girl" in a soap ad because of her lack of sex appeal (she's "like hot dogs, apple pie... the girl scout that stays a girl scout forever"). To spice up her act, she decides try out a striptease routine, only to have her father walk in on her. "Nobody Here but Us Chickens" has Ann going for new lows in the form of "Miss Chicken Big." She takes acting lessons from a chicken, performs a courtship dance in a hideous bright yellow chicken suit, and fends off advances from Chicken Big's big chicken, Major Culpepper (played with hick charm by Slim Pickens). Finally, in "The Snow Must Go On," Ann and Donald need to drop Ann's parents off at Kennedy airport and get Ann back into the city in time for an important Broadway audition. But an incoming blizzard threatens to strand all of them at the airport, and they must cope in the best way they can: Ann tries to audition over the phone, Donald works on a story, and Ann's father hoards sandwiches when the restaurant runs low on food. --Jenny Brown ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Real good TV!
Watching this video brought back alot of good childhood memories! James Garner has presence that few actors can match, and this is from the days of quality TV.

This one was one of my favorites and when watching again after all these years, I know why. Nice snappy plot, good acting by Garner, Margolin, Reiner and Co. and welcome lack of trash so prevalent elsewhere. We need more like this! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Milton Berle and Paul Lynde visit "I Dream of Jeannie"
The guest stars are the big attraction on this pair of episodes from "I Dream of Jeannie" collected under the title "Risky Business." Episode #64, "The Second Greatest Con Artist in the World," has Mr. Television himself, Milton Berle, plays a hustler named Charlie who works for the richest man in the world, Mr. Vanderhaven (Fred Clark). When Charlie sees a picture of Jeannie (Barbara Eden) wearing a King Tut scarab worth a half million dollars, he pretends to be Vanderhaven and tricks Jeannie into trading him the broach for a beach in Hawaii where diamonds just wash upon the shore. Of course, tricking Jeannie is not a smart move. However, the wedding episode of the series made a big deal about how Jeannie cannot be photographed, but apparently she can be in Hawaii.

Episode #68 "Everybody's a Movie Star" has Paul Lynde as the Hollywood movie director Allen Kerr. He has come to Cocoa beach to film a day in the life of an average astronaut, but he thinks Tony (Larry Hagman) could be a big movie star. Tony just wants to be an astronaut, but, of course, Roger (Bill Daily) sees this as being his break. So when Kerr talks to Dr. Bellows (Hayden Roarke) about making Tony a star, Roger thinks the director is talking about him. It is rather surprising this episode is one of the few selected to be on a video tape because it really focuses on Roger and overall both of the guest stars have more to do than the two stars of the show. These are still above average "I Dream of Jeannie" episodes, albeit not classic ones, and of more value to fans of Berle and Lynde.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jeannie does it again!
That Jeannie is always getting into scrapes, and these two choice episodes prove it!

'The Greatest Con Artists In The World' has Jeannie being taken in by a swindling Milton Berle who cons her into selling her precious scarab pin.

'Everybody's A Movie Star' has Jeannie going Hollywood as Paul Lynde decides that Anthony and Jeannie have 'star power'. ... Read more
