4-0 out of 5 stars TFTDS Vol. 5--A True Part of the 80s Culture
A fixture...a "must have" for the 80's Cult-TV offbeat enthusiasts. This was the first TFTDS video I came to own, and my favorite of the six I have so far. It was interesting to see the "lighter side of hell" in the form of Clive Barker's earlier writing, which I found both amusing and clever. The series is a veritable who's who cornucopia of classic TV/movie actors as well the up-and-comers; i.e., Robert Forster (Jackie Brown), Anthony Heald (The Silence of the Lambs, TV's Boston Public), Seth Green (Stephen King's "It", and later, Austin Powers' comedies, etc.) only to name a few ...The writers, directors and actors all bring something special and personal to the series and specifically to this video. It captures some of the nuances of the Twilight Zone series, but peppered with an 80s attitude and new directions in writing and overall treatment of the genre. For both the nostalgic and the first-time viewers, a treat. To me, TFTDS helped define the feel, mood and sympatico that was the 80s...Hey, I was there! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I Hope Touched by an Angel Gets Complete Season DVD Boxsets!
Touched by an Angel was one of my Dad's favorite TV shows and it became one of my favorites too. I have a lot of favorite episodes and The 151st Psalm is one of my favorites, it is a sad but touching episode about a boy who is dying and how he wants to help his mother finish a song she was writing but never finished. The mother is played by Wynnona who I think did a great job and so did the actors who played the boy and his friend. This show was very popular and I don't understand why CBS cancelled it in order to air stupid reality shows and I wish they would start making new episodes or even TV movies and I really want to see Touched by an Angel put on DVD in complete season boxsets!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I watched this episode first on TV, then I went out and bought the tape!! It was the first TV show that made me cry, but it the tears were happy tears. The acting in this episode was great. The message of love, acceptance, hope and, of course, that God loves us (more specifically you and me) went straight to my heart.

If you never buy any other Touched By An Angel videos or if you never watch another episode, make sure you get this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Finally Coming Out on DVD!
This is an update to my last review. The Touched By an Angel episodes on this tape are good but there is some great news! The First season of Touched by an Angel is being released on DVD on August 31, 2004. FYI: John Dye who played Andrew wasn't in the first season. I think he joined the show sometime during the second season and the angel in the first season who helped Tess and Monica was named Adam and played by Charles Rocket.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wanted! "Touched By An Angel" DVD boxed set
I loved "Touched By An Angel" from the beginning. I had recorded episodes sent to me while stationed in Haiti with the Army in 1996. There was discussion at the time about cancelling the show. Public outcry helped to save the show. Had that not happened, there wouldn't have been a "151st Psalm" episode (the 100th episode) that's been mentioned in so many of the previous reviews. The audience is here, the demand is here, only the supply is missing. Release this series on DVD. You won't be sorry!

4-0 out of 5 stars These episodes need to be released on DVD.
I enjoyed watching 'Touched By Angel' when it was on TV. I would like to see these episodes released on DVD. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Happy 20th Anniversary, Tales from the Darkside
It's hard to believe it's been 20 years or more since co-producer George Romero's TV series first traversed the ozone highway into our living rooms. And this particular volume 6 is no exception to the creative benchmark the series set forth. Conceptually, TFTDS is a compilation of a myriad of short story writers, screen writers, etc., of this genre, put into a TV format. Team this with an eclectic mix of actors and actresses including classical, up-and-coming, Vaudevillian, oldies but goodies (golden age of TV), even Broadway, and throw in well metered direction and interesting special effects (for this era), and you have a winner, with an 80s feel. My kudos to the casting crew! In this particular tape, five episodes are taken from the series, featuring the writing skills of Robert Bloch (Psycho) and Michael McDowell (Beetlejuice). Since the writers in the series are so numerous and varied in style, the mood and feel of each are totally different from one another, and represent an albeit edgy, 80s representation of television programming. My personal favorite on this tape was "Baker's Dozen", where a greedy advertizer (Larry Manetti from Magnum PI) gets his just "desserts" by a voodoo woman who just happens to bake one "mean" cookie (Mabel King from The Wiz). Then, when the cookie lady becomes a little too powerful for her own good, she's thwarted by the elderly but crafty Aloysious who proves once again that good things come in small (kitchen rat-sized) packages. Great viewing for 8-14 year olds especially, but fun for all. In short: Clever, creepy, but not overly gory. Great for Halloween party sleepovers! A series of some of the best horror short story writers of the 80s era, put to film. P.S.--Check out the companion paperback and episodes 1-7. I have them all, and my teenage daughter and her friends are really into them. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars men arnt always right
Well worth watching, a great action film. it keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you proud to be a brunette.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good! Worth watching.
Now if Gregory Harrison were president, I'd be moving to USA. President Jonathan Hayes has a 16 year old daughter Jess, who keeps fussing about wanting to live like a normal teenager. She also can't cope with seeing Agent Alex Mcgregor and her father be so close and after an assassination attempt on the president and once the assassins get arrested he decides to let Alex, who saved him, take his daughter on a trip, where she could do all the outdoors stuff. Alex on the other hand has been demoted because her superior agent Daley thinks that she risked the president's life under the attempt. The only problem is that some of the assassin's fled under the capture of their leader and now want their leader back and they just happened to be in the neighbourhood of where Jess, Alex and a few other kids are for rafting and rock climbing... Yes Jess gets kidnapped and alongside with Grant (Doug Savant) Alex decides to become wonder woman and save Jess. The movie was good and I can't wait to see First Target.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great action film.
I first saw this film on TNT and I liked it immediately. I thought that the film had a lot of action and suspense which kept me entertained throughout the entire film. I'm glad that this is being released on video. I also thought that this film had a great cast. I thought that their performances were convincing and effective. I don't think that this film was weak or depressing at all. I personally enjoyed it and I think that it's worth seeing.

4-0 out of 5 stars An uncomplicated action flick
This movie did not have much on characterization or a complicated plot, but it was exciting to watch (if you managed to successfully suspend your disbelief). Oh, poor poor daughter of the President! :)

2-0 out of 5 stars Dreadful TV action flick
This was lame even for a TV movie. The best part of the film was the first five minutes showing an assassination attempt on the President of the United States. After that, the film goes into free fall.

Mariel Hemingway plays a secret service agent who is charged with guarding the President's self-absorbed teenage daughter on an outward-bound type trip of rafting, climbing and living in the wilderness for a week. The bad-guy militiamen kidnap the brat and all the force at the disposal of the United States is coalesced to rescue her.

The entire story is so contrived and poorly presented that it is laughable. How lucky that of all the places on earth these militiamen could have gone hunting, they picked the same exact wilderness that the President's daughter was frolicking. Moreover, it was even more propitious that they happened to have all their high tech surveillance, radio and radar equipment with them while they were bow hunting.

It was also extraordinarily fortunate that Agent McGregor (Hemingway), who had never attempted rock climbing in her life before this trip, was so instantly adept at it that her next climb was a two hundred foot vertical climb without tether. The ridiculousness they ask us to swallow continues unending.

The action sequences were only fair, and the special effects were a joke. The music was awful and the film would cut to black for five seconds between certain scenes where the commercials would be placed. I don't even want to get into the acting. Dreadful.

Even action junkies will be disappointed by this film. I rated it a 3/10. Miss it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST INSPIRATIONAL TELEVISION SHOW OF ALLTIME!!!!
FIRST THERE WAS "LASSIE" THAT TOUCHED THE HEART WITH THE SIMPLE MORALS OF THE LORD, AND EXAMPLES OF HIS GREAT LOVE AND FAITH!!!! THEN CAME "WALTON'S MOUNTAIN" WHICH TOUCHED THE MORE DEEPER WITH SCRIPTURE AND LESSONS OF THE LORD'S FAITH AND LOVE, EVEN THROUGH TIMES OF HARDSHIP AND TRAGEDY, AND NOW AT LONG LAST THE GREATEST OF THESE TELEVISION SHOWS OF DEEP INSPIRATION, UNDYING LOVE, EMOTION, AND GREAT FAITH. THE CONTINUING TALES THAT TELLS US OF THE COURAGE AND STRENGTH OF "ANGELS" SENT HERE TO GUIDE US, COMFORT US, ENSURE US OF THE LORD'S GREAT LOVE FOR US, AND HIS ENDEARING CARE AS WELL FOR US ALL!!! TALES TOLD IN A TODAY'S WORLD, TORN BY WAR, HATRED, BITTER CONFLICTS, AND INSURMOUNTABLE ODDS THROUGH FLASHBACKS OF YESTERYEARS OF BYGONE TIMES WITH EVENTS AND PEOPLE OF GREAT COURAGE, THROUGH GREAT HARDSHIP AND SUFFERING. THIS SHOW HAS TOUCHED THE VERY GAMBIT OF HEAVEN AND HELL, WITHOUT GROTESQUE HORROR, OR BLOODSHED, BUT IN TURN TELLS IN ELABORATE HOUR-LONG TALES OF VARIOUS STORIES OF BEAUTY AND HUMAN CONFRONTATION SUCH AS TO RISE AND TOUCH THE VERY CHRISTIAN FAITH THAT LIES DEEP WITHIN US ALL; AND FILLS US WITH A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THOSE MORALS ARE AND HOW WE AS EVERYDAY PEOPLE CAN LEARN OURSELVES TO CONFRONT THEM, IF THEY SHOULD ARISE IN OUR OWN LIVES. EACH EPISODE HAS LEFT ME IN TEARS, AND BROUGHT ME CLOSER TO THE LORD IN SO MANY BEAUTIFUL AND THOUGHTFUL WAYS, I'M SO BLESSED FOR HAVING SEEN THIS SHOW!!!!
I ALWAYS WILL!!!! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST TELEVISION SHOW EVER!
For nine years America was "Touched by an Angel" on prime-time. When the show was cancelled last year, TV became a wasteland. Simply put, this is the greatest television program ever because of the genuis of Martha Williamson and one of the greatest ensemble casts ever to grace the TV screen.

These two episodes will show you why. I can't wait for the season by season DVD boxed sets to come out and I don't understand what Paramount is waiting for!! They will make a mint off this series.

This is one series that will rank with the classic dramas of television like "The Waltons", and "Little House".

Buy this video if you haven't yet. If you have seen the show and watched it faithfully for 9 years, the way I did, then no further explanation is needed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Volume of All
I believe this is the best volume of this series out of them all. It includes my favorite episode of all time, "Trouble With Mary Jane." In which a yound girl becomes possessed by a demon and her grandmother hires a pair of occultists to perform an exorcism on the little girl. Although they do succeed in the exorcism, the result is something very unexpected. Other episodes on this volume include, "The Devil's Advocate", "Ring Around the Redhead", "The Satanic Piano" (another one of my favorites), and "A Choice of Dreams". If you like twisted, strange, and unusual stories, I highly recommend this product to you.

3-0 out of 5 stars Join the Darkside!
In the second volume, I lovingly discovered that my second all-time favorite episode was included: The Devil's Advocate. My all-time favorite episode, Seasons of Belief, is on the first volume. Anyway, The Devil's Advocate stars Jerry Stiller as a smart-alec radio talk show host who neglects to see how his life is worse than those he constantly puts down over the airways. He realizes it eventually, but not before it's too late. The remaining four episodes are good, but don't exactly compare to The Devil's Advocate. These episodes include Ring Around The Redhead (starring Home Alone's John Heard), The Trouble with Mary Jane (starring Phyllis Diller), The Satanic Piano (starring Michael Warren from Hill Street Blues), and A Choice of Dreams (starring The Godfather's Abe Vigoda). Buy it for Stiller if nothing else! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BLESSED BE THE CHILDEN OF GOD!!!!
"TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL" HAS TOUCHED MY HEART, AND FILLED MY LIFE WITH SO MUCH JOY AND EMOTION, THAT IN SOME WAYS IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE AND GIVEN ME A DEEPER AND GREATER UNDERSTANDING INTO A DIVINE CHRISTIAN LOVE AND FAITH I ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT!!!! THE "NETHERLANDS" EPISODE WAS THE BEST EPISODE OF THIS VIDEO; FOR IT WAS A PREMIERE EPISODE FEAUTURING VALERIE BERTENELLI AS A NEW ANGEL "GLORIA" WHO HAD TO LEARN WHAT IT WAS TO BE A REAL ANGEL, AND MONICA WHO HAD TO LEARN TO BE ANGEL ONCE MORE BEING TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL, PLAYED FIENDISHLY BY MANDY PANIKIN, AFTER FACING A HORRIFIC TRAGEDY.
OF THE MANY MORALS MONICA HAD TO LEARN, THIS WAS ONE OF HER GREATEST TESTS OF COURAGE SHE HAD TO FACE ALONE!!!! LIKE THE LORD BEING TEMPTED IN THE DESERT BY THE DEVIL, AS IT IS WRITTEN IN THE GOSPELS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT, SO MONICA TO HAD TO SUFFER A SIMULAR ORDEAL. A CHALLENGE AND A TEST OF SPIRIT THAT WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART!!!! THE GREATEST INSPIRATION TELEVISION OF ALLTIME!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Christmas Miracle
I have seen all of the "Touched by an Angel" episodes and enjoy them all! Right now one of my favorite is "Christmas Miracle". I like the songs and the singing and the story line is always inspirational.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Star Video You Can't Miss!!!
All I can say after watching this video is WoW!!!
This would have to show Touched By an Angel at its finest! The acting is superb in both epsidoes, and the storyline, as always holds a feel-good and important message, and I would reccommend seeing this for any Touched fans, and even those who aren't!

This 2 episode tape features the excellent episodes, 'The Face of God' and 'Netherlands'. The first episode, 'The Face of God' deals with the moral issues of genetics, whilst the second episode, 'Netherlands' deals with the tough issue of terrorism. Both issues are dealt with extremely well in these episodes, and make this video a MUST SEE.

As always, the Touched by an Angel cast, crew and writers have provided inspirational and uplifting episodes. Well acted all round, with great storylines, and an even greater message and meaning, there is something for everyone to get out of these 2 amazing episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Believe it or not, this was pre-September 11th!
I have only seen "The Netherlands" on television once, so I can only review this portion. Personally, I think EVERY American, every person of faith, and every person with any moral fiber whatsoever needs to see this absolutely stunning piece of film. It was shocking to me to discover that this was actually filmed and aired before September 11th! When you get to the scene where the angels recognize other angels - sorry, can't give you any further details without ruining it for you - you will know exactly what I mean. At this price, you cannot afford to miss this! Just please trust a fellow Christian and patriotic American who happens to be a stranger to you at this point: you NEED to see "The Netherlands." Though not nearly as dramatically, it, like September 11th, will leave you humbled and changed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Shallow Waters isn't Shallow
I loved this episode so much when I saw it on tv recently, that I started looking for it on video or dvd to buy! The story is great, the acting is fantastic, and everything is so much like how it can be in real life. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Series' Cliffhanger...
This was one of the three episodes I had originally taped back 10 yrs. ago, but the tape has poor quality now. I have to agree that I remembered the series enough to buy the entire collection. I've never seen the original daytime version of Dark Shadows (1966-71) but I like everything about this revival series much better. The stupid folks at NBC decided to cancel the series after this episode because of poor ratings (poor because it premiered the same time the GULF WAR started...if that war never happened, the show would have continued) Nevertheless, a wonderful collection and if they were to remake Dark Shadows again, I would definitely keep my eyes open.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible series!
I first encountered this show by accident one night in 1991, I was only in second grade at the time. :) Now at 19, (yes, I'm still pretty young, but age has very little to do with it) I still can't begin to describe what an incredible series this was! It would have been so much fun to see how far this show would've gone, had it not been cancelled, but at least they've left us with videos of the 12 episodes they did run. I've now collected them all, and really think that you should too! To everyone who worked on this show, congratulations! We absolutely love it! And to those of you who haven't seen it yet...aww, you must! =)

5-0 out of 5 stars Special Extras
This video includes additional footage not aired in the original broadcast on NBC.

5-0 out of 5 stars I would actually rate this a 5+ stars!
I never got into the old Dark Shadows, but i thought this was fantastic! I saw the mini-series on tv back in 1991 and i wish i would have taped it. I'm wondering and questioning if they will ever show it on tv again? Until then, I'm buying the episodes one by one. I would recommend this to anyone who loved Dark Shadows. Joanna Going is wonderful in this and Ben Cross does a fantastic job of Barnabus Collins - not to mention that he's good-looking! ... Read more

Ghosts dominate this episode of the 1991 series. The ghost of Sarah Collins, Barnabas's little sister, appears to Victoria Winters. Gotta pick this up if you are intrigued by the story of the Collins family...

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful, Touching Story
I really love this movie. It made me cry when Ariana and her brother were reunited in the end. It was so real, it was like I was a part of the story.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this movie.
I love Danielle Steel's, "The Ring". Please release it onto DVD in the United States. It is already available on DVD, in England.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great miniseries
Like Sensibility25, I am not usually a fan of Danielle Steele, but boy did I love this miniseries, it had really top-notch acting which carries it along; Ms. Kinski is the linchpin of the story; historical details are pretty accurate, and oh yes, the actor who plays Manfred is excellent & nice eye candy as well. I wish the WE television network would run this one on their Monday Miniseries, instead of repeating "Til We Meet Again" ad nauseum.

5-0 out of 5 stars Girlhood to motherhood, from WWII Berlin to Paris to N.Y.C
**SPOILERS**
With his smokey and softly-accented voice, Carsten Norgaard made a wonderfully romantic and bittersweet Manfred -- Ariana's protector, husband and father of her only child. Norgaard created a character that is even more haunting and tragic than the novel's. This hero is easy to fall in love with, as Ariana did. Manfred's death scene is almost too realistic and painful. His eyes truly look dead under the half-closed lids.

The destruction of Berlin in the last days of WWII is so convincing, you will be ducking and dodging with the citizenry from your comfy chair. This production is excellent all the way through. The movie is actually more accurate than the book, having the Russians capture the city and making Manfred's rank a Captain, which by his age and the progress of the war, makes more sense than Lieutenant. You will feel like you are there, and sometimes the involvement will have you squirming as well as drying the tears.

Lifetime Channel aired the miniseries in one piece as a 3:30 hr movie with commercial breaks recently (Nov 2003); and if the original was 240 minutes, as I have heard elsewhere, then that is why I am buying the tape. There may be additional scenes. I have read that Region 2 (Europe, etc.) already has "The Ring" on DVD, and so I will be hoping and looking for that to come out.

As you can tell, the first part of the story is more interesting to me, but I certainly recommend the whole video. I hope you enjoy "The Ring" as much as I have!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
I just happened to catch this on TV - seeing the name Nastassja Kinski always makes me stop, but seeing the name Danielle Steel always makes me worry... There was nothing to worry about. This was a wonderful miniseries, brought to life by a good story and fabulous actors. Nastassja Kinski is wonderful, and she is the perfect choice for Ariana. I'm sure the role rang very true for her, owing to the fact that her parents were this age in Berlin during World War II. In fact in the story, her brother flees the country afraid of being drafted into the Nazi army, and in real life Nastassja's father, (actor Klaus Kinski) WAS drafted into the Nazi army. Nastassja brings real depth to the character and the casting director should thank their lucky stars that she accepted the role. The casting was wonderful the whole way around: Michael York, Jon Tenney, and Elizabeth Barondes are all fantastic.

The story is corny - but it's Danielle Steel, what do you expect? ;) But what I have to tell you is I sat down, meaning to check out the first ten minutes - and after five minutes I was completely hooked. By the end of the first episode I was shocked to see that I didn't know what the heck was going to happen, and that I actually cared! I was back there the next day, with my kleenex, and loved every minute of it.

There are a few things lacking in this miniseries. The actress that played Gerhard's wife just made me want to bang my head against a wall, and I thought that subplot carried on much longer than was necessary. Other than that though, this is a movie you will get involved in. The whole situation with Ariana's second husband is just heartbreaking, and even a month after seeing it I'm still ticked off at Paul for divorcing her! I can't believe I'm admitting it, but this is a movie that you can really get into. Great cast, great acting, a bit of a cheesy script, but such terrific performances that you don't care! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Long Live Dark Shadows
I loved Angelique. She was played as I always thought she should be. Dark, mysterious, and intriguing. I too was upset when they killed the series. I vote we petition NBC anc CBS to recast the series. At least so we can record it for postarity. ... Read more

If you are into great suspence type shows, don't look any further. The original Dark Shadows series was awsome, but, the revival Dark Shadows totally eclipses it. Buy it, you won't be disapointed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dark Shadows 1991
Ben Cross and Joanna Going is what makes Dark Shadows surreal, beautiful and enchanting. As characters full of pain for secrets they each hide, Barnabas Collins and Victoria Winters are soulful in their chemistry, a tragic romance in its extreme. Joanna was an exquisite choice against Ben's dark smouldering looks, you just can't hate this vampire!

5-0 out of 5 stars Suspence at it's best!
Dark shadows was the best tv series ever shown. NBC's biggest mistake was the cancellation of Barnabus's tale. Personally it is one of the best vampire novels ever written and far better than its original. Dark Shadows is a great collection of video's to own ,And amazon is the only place i ever found them. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars what happened to law and order was a crime
This action picture directed by Armand Mastroianni has a reactionary message, which caters to the right to bear arms lobby. During the escape from a bank holdup Joe Dallesandro loses his accomplice robber brother, and Leigh McCloskey, as a bystander, his pregant wife. However in these days of slippery lawyers and even slippier laws, Dallesandro gets off, since the stockinged mask the bandits wore does not allow for a postive witness identification. Since Dallesandro holds McCloskey to blame for the death of his brother, via enabling him to become a police target, and McCloskey blames Dallesandro for the death of his wife, the stage is set for the titular battle. Mastroianni has little of quality to work with here, with a screenplay that is the standard of "They grow up so fast. One day I left home and she was in diapers, and when I came home she was in her wedding dress", and concerning newspaper gossip "If somebody writes it, somebody reads it". However he does manage to slip in a few nice touches, like the repeated use of the America song - campingly played on a jukebox in a climactic shootout, Dallesandro stubbing out his cigarette in food to show how tough he is, a montage of quick cuts of "No" testimony from the witnesses in the trial, and the opposing parties allow for parallels and cross-cutting. He also alludes to the western in his staging of some scenes - a bar has swinging doors and screens a John Wayne title on TV - and there is an aerial view of the two men approaching each other before the face-off. Although the only actor who gives a reasonable performance is Richard Rust as the put upon County Sheriff, Dallesandro provides the hunk appeal. Still a handsome man all these years after his legendary nude appearances for Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey, he's certainly the sexier of the two men in their matching tight jeans. Dallesandro's gay epithet to McCloskey at the trial gets the required response, even if McCloskey appears to lack the imagination for it, and Mastroianni's tongue is in full cheek when he has Dallesandro buy a child an ice cream cone. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest Stalker Movies of all Time.
This movie seems to be a bit underrated, when in fact, the movie itself as well as the actors are very good. Just for the simple fact that it has alot of great, well-known actors starring in it and a decent story-line to follow, it should be rated in a classic-style category. This movie, to me, is one of the best horror flicks of all time. Very scary, indeed!! Definitely gets 4 stars!!!

Of course Tom Hanks, (the cute jogger in the woods) steals the show. The only thing is, the poor girl (Elizabeth Kemp)didn't get a chance to go out on a date with him, especially after she got up the nerve to get his attention during a jog in the woods. Instead, she agreed to stay at her friends house until her friend arrived home from taking her sister to a slumber party.

The chilling and suspenceful ending will keep you on the edge of your seat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Halloween imitators and Tom Hanks's first film!!
He Knows You're Alone is the best of the Halloween imitators and is Tom Hanks's first film. It was originally released in 1980, during a time when there were new horror films being released nearly every week. The film concerns a psychotic, jilted bridegroom who stalks and kills brides-to-be, their bridesmaids and anyone else connected with their weddings. It was obviously a low-budget effort, but benefits from tight direction, a good script and a likeable heroine, Caitlin O'Heaney as Amy and a good supporting cast, including Tom Hanks, in a minor role, making his film debut. Director Armand Mastroianni is a cousin of the actor Marcello Mastroianni. The most memorable thing about the film is the previously mentioned psychotic killer. He doesn't speak a word thoughout the film, but his presence is always conveyed in the most chilling and suspenseful ways. There are some truly terrifying moments. There are also some very clever film-within-a-film scenes. This is one DVD release that I will definitely be acquiring ASAP and I can heartily recommend it to anyone else.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great 80's Horror Fave
I'll admit this movie obviously rode on the coat tails of Halloween plot wise, etc.
However, if you are a horror fanatic this will deliver the goods & have you hugging your knees on the sofa late at night.
There are plenty of jolts in this one.
I am sure Tom Hanks keeps this one buried with his Bosom Buddies Bra's. Ha-ha
I hope this one will start a trend of some more treasured 80's horror flicks finally seeing the light of day on DVD.

I hate spoilers in these reviews, so i will just say that "in a nutshell" the premise revolves around brides to be being stalked by a homicidal nutjob. I guarantee the opening & closing scenes will get your pulse going.

Have fun!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad Halloween Clone
This film was released by MGM in 1980 as an attempt to capsize the success of John Carpenter's Halloween and it didn't do to bad during it's release because this film does have some good shocks. Armand Masterolini (Perfect Target, Cameron's Closet) is in his directing debuet here, and it centers around a killer who stalks brides. He picks out one named Amy Jensen and starts killing her friends, when she thinks she is being stalked, she gets help from her funny ex boyfriend and a cop who's wife was killed by the stalker three years before. He Knows You're Alone isn't bad at all, it's got an all star cast including Don Scardino and Tom Rolfing (both from Days of Our Lives), Caitleen O'Heaney (Tale of the Gold Monkey), James Rebhorn (Independance Day), and early role for Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan), Paul Gleason (Breakfast Club), Russell Todd (Friday the 13th Part 2, Chopping Mall), Lewis Arlt (TV's Law and Order) and Dana Barron (National Lampoon's Vacation). Just to point out a trivia scene, the beginning of this film is reference to a similar scene at the beginning of Scream 2.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Movies
I saw this movie a couple years ago with my friend and we loved it. We didn't think it was that scary actually. It is probably one of the funniest. I mean the only time she locks her door is when he is in her house. And then she runs into a door and falls and it's filled with laughs. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Touching...
I've never been a huge fan of this show, in fact the holiday episode with Ann-Margret was the only episode I caught. That being said, it's one of the most touching and well acted (largely in part due to Ann-Margret's brilliant performance) show I've seen in a long time. This episode will surely make you teary-eyed...I was expecting a sappy holiday episode and this is in no way that! This is a great piece of work. Ann-Margret was overlooked by the EMMY committee (as usual) for this one. ... Read more
