2-0 out of 5 stars Below average film
I remember Melinda Clark from her stint on the soap, "Days of our Lives". She is a beautiful woman, no doubt about that. But all I can say is this movie was dumb. It had many sexy scenes but little else. I found the first film to be slightly better, but it too lacked a decent storyline.

3-0 out of 5 stars not bad, but not as good as the original, predictable ending
Melinda Clarke, who isn't bad, but she's no Sherilyn Fenn, is the granddaughter model, who returns home to Two Moon Junction, meets her grandmother, played by a fairly decent looking (for her age)
Louise Fletcher. Of course, she falls for the long haired, muscular, occupant of the property. There's sex, there's conflict, and ultimately, the predictable ending. She looks kind of familiar. (The press person on CBS's The District comes to mind.) Mildly erotic. Ok for general purposes; the original, as always, is better. [Correction to this review: This actress is not the one on The District, as I originally thought; however, she did play "Mistress Heather" on several episodes of "C.S.I.-Crime Scene Investigation, my bad.]

4-0 out of 5 stars A GOOD SEQUEL! FOR THE MINDY CLARKE FANS TOO
This is a pretty ... good sequel. Mindy Clarke is fantastic as savanah. I really dig this film. I like the opening with the modelling, and then when she goes back to Two Moon Junction, the placidness of it. As much as the sex scenes are hot and very sexy, I don't see this film as just an excuse of a story to make a poor sequel with lots of sex- that's not the case of the film. We all know with the first film that sex is the subject matter, and with director Zalman King, that's his specialty(which I like anyway). I recommend this film. Once again Mindy Clsrke is wonderful. She is the queen of actress', she's really at the top of her game. Even this being one of her earlier films in fact all of her films I'm constantly impressed with all her albilities.

3-0 out of 5 stars A good sequel
I watched this back to back with Two Moon Junction and so had good opportunity to compare both films. Obviously this film has the setback of being a sequel of sorts, so you know the story is going to be completely unoriginal, but the attraction is more well-filmed erotica, although not by Zalman King himself.
As far as the story goes, the little sister from the first Two Moon Junction has grown up (and boy does she look good). There is a dispute over beloved family property and naturally the two protagonists get it on.
I actually had more sympathy for Melinda Clarke's character than I had for her elder sister from the first film (Sherilyn Fenn). She wasn't as duplicitous and selfish as her sister. Fenn is the better actress, but Clarke is the better looker.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not that bad...
and certainly better than most 'excuse-to-show-nudity' softcore-porn style movies that I've seen on TV! Sure, the plot is rather sappy and predictable, but the characters actually come across as likeable (or not) when they're supposed to, you find yourself caring somewhat about what happens, and the acting is decent enough too. I just saw this as the late-night movie (as would be expected - good luck getting this aired any other time of the day!), and wasn't expecting much thanks to the parental advisory warning about the copious sex and nudity. Oh, and yes, the sex scenes ARE very good at what they set out to do... turn up the heat! Even if one of those scenes only features one person...! (You can figure that out for yourself!) I thought I had seen the lead actress, Mindy Clarke, before. Once I found out her name, it didn't ring any bells, but she was DEFINITELY a good choice anyway! A sexy knockout who actually has some acting ability is a tough find!
But as said, you can watch this movie and not feel guilty about the nudity, because it does stand up well enough on the basis of its story alone. Nothing new, just a good old-fashioned love story - but sometimes we need things like that in the world we live in nowadays. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars He Wants to be Human Again
This was a made for television movie starring actor/singer Rick Springfield and was the predecessor of the relatively short lived but still a cult favorite television series "Forever Knight" which starred Geraint Wyn Davies as Nick Knight. The premise is Nick is a vampire that wants to regain his mortality. He's working as a cop on the night shift while the forensic surgeon on duty tries to help him become human again. In the meantime, his nemesis, Lacroix, who was the one who originally turned Nick into a vampire will do anything to stop Nick from his quest for mortality. It's a great story and hopefully this movie and the television series will eventually come out on DVD.

4-0 out of 5 stars He Wants to Repay Society for His Sins....
In the 1989 TV flick NICK KNIGHT, rocker (1981's Grammy-winning "Jessie's Girl") and soap-opera star (GENERAL HOSPITAL, 1981-1983) Rick Springfield portrays Nick Knight, a homicide detective on the night shift who has a reputation for being a loner and a maverick. But he's a good cop, and he's hip. He drives a cool vintage Caddy, looks good in black leather, and has a soft spot in his heart for the homeless (he often checks up on them when he's out on his "beat"). Oh, yeah--and he's also a guilt-ridden vampire in quest of a cure for his supernatural malady. Solving crimes, specifically homicides, is sort of his way of paying penance for the murderous, blood-sucking sins of his past.

Though often neglected or overlooked, NICK KNIGHT is an intelligent, skillfully written, and well-acted TV film that was actually the original pilot for the popular cult TV series FOREVER KNIGHT (1992-1996). One reason that this film is nearly forgotten might be the fact that the same story was re-shot with the TV cast and subsequently aired as the series' two-part opener. While the cast of the series does a fine job-the excellent cast is, of course, one of many reasons that the show quickly became a cult favorite--NICK KNIGHT is in many ways superior to the two-part remake, and it is therefore unfortunate that the series has eclipsed the original film and pushed it into near obscurity.

The acting in NICK KNIGHT is superb, especially considering that it is a made-for-TV flick. In the titular role, Springfield delivers a strong, convincing performance and has great chemistry with the rest of the cast. Also intriguing is Laura Johnson, who plays museum curator Alyce Hunter and Knight's love interest. Not only is she a good actress and quite attractive, but Ms. Johnson and Springfield really sizzle together when they share screen time. Genre fans might recognize Michael Nader from his role as Nicolas Pike in TV's short-lived 1990 series THE FLASH, but couch potatoes are more likely to recognize him from his long-standing role as Farnsworth Dexter on TV's nighttime soap DYNASTY. Here he plays Nick's longtime nemesis, Lacroix. (Nader does a good job in the role, though he is admittedly not as compelling--nor as accomplished an actor--as Nigel Bennett, who assumes the role in the series.) As the film's comic relief, John Kapelos is hilariously entertaining in the role of Nick's annoyingly self-absorbed partner Don Schanke, and he often steals the scenes he is in. Interestingly, Kapelos is the only actor in the film who returns to reprise his role for the TV series.

The film itself has really stood up well over time. Aside from the 1980's pop tunes in the soundtrack and a few cheesy special FX, there isn't much that reveals NICK KNIGHT to be a product of late-1980s TV. The script is tight and interesting, the characters are likable and realistic, the directing is top-notch, and, as mentioned before, the acting is excellent. All in all, the film is a forgotten gem that, like its vampire characters, deserves to rise from the dead and live forever.

And thanks to the folks at Anchor Bay, NICK KNIGHT has been resurrected on DVD. True, he offering is a bare-bones disc--i.e., there are no extras or bonus features--but the digital transfer is drastically better than the previous VHS releases of the film, and the sound quality is pretty good. And being a telefilm, it is presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.33:1.

For fans of the TV show FOREVER KNIGHT who did not see this pilot film prior to the creation of the series, it might take a little time to warm up to the alternate actors and the character variations. But if viewed an open mind, any fan of the TV series should enjoy NICK KNIGHT, and any fan of the vampire genre will want to add the DVD of this excellent film to their collections.

Definitely worth amazon.com's reasonable price of admission.

4-0 out of 5 stars All Good Things Must Begin Somewhere
I saw this movie when it first came out on TV as the pilot for the somewhat popular Forever Knight series. I remember that I loved the pilot at the time and didn't realize that this was a pilot an not just another made for TV movie. Then about two years after I saw Nick Knight, Forever Knight came out. I was much disappointed that they had not kept more members of the original cast and had chosen to reshoot the pilot and air it like Nick Knight had never been. It took me the whole four years that Forever Knight was on TV to warm to the cast and I absolutely hated the cheesy flashbacks! I didn't need to be beat over the head to know that Nick was obviously older than he looked! I mostly watched the series out of loyalty to the original pilot and hoped that the series would get better with time, but obviously they must have replaced the original director and writers to come up with the sloppy mess they put out for the series. All in all, the original Nick Knight was the best of the bunch and I recommend this movie to anyone who is not yet biased by the trash that came out in the series.

2-0 out of 5 stars I remember this being better
Ok, this was the pilot that after a good number of changes became the cult classic tv show "Forever Knight". Rick Springfield did fine but I'm glad the television show got rid of most of the actors except for our dear friend Detective Skanky -- what a name to be stuck with in life. The first two episodes of the television series basically redoes this movie so you dont' need to get it as a supplment. But if you watched when it was on tv like I did you may want it as a momento.

4-0 out of 5 stars movie that started the fuss
Like others I have watched both the tv version and this. Nick is a much deeper character, LaCroix a shade [ok a deeper] evil and perhaps more complex. The filming is more complex.

Perhaps this is one of my frustrations with the TV show. It seemed dumbed down as if the writers and makers where sure we weren't bright enough to catch any implications they might throw at us so buff it over lightly and ignore. I was constantly saying "That could have been GREAT if only... Darn it they did it again and missed." With the movie well...

The film does NOT do this. It has a depth that the TV never made it to. Major characters from the tv show are missing, such as Nat [thank you thank you].

Nick is believable as a haunted knight errant seeking salvation in a world that is not so nice sometimes. The character is fully developed and interesting. When it ended I wanted more of THIS Nick. Sadly what followed [on TV] didn't give me that.

The list could go on. ... Read more

With computer effects improving on a daily basis, a more visuallydazzling Lawnmower Man sequel was inevitable. Ten minutes into Jobe'sWar (also known as Beyond Cyberspace) you know the CGI is vastlybetter, even if composite shots and model work aren't! The focus of the effectsis still former simpleton Jobe, who's been rescued from the fireball explosionsat the first film's end. In a Los Angeles of "the future," he's had both legsamputated, his head is shaved, and he's now played by Matt Frewer. The VirtualLight Institute has Jobe building a chip once designed by disgraced scientistDr. Trace (Patrick Bergin). Like the original, this sequel is a great snapshotof the special-effects industry of its day. In 1996, the cyber city and bikeride (a homage to Tron) was as good as you got. --Paul Tonks ... 2-0 out of 5 stars I'm so depressed!
Oh my God. I was so dissappointed with this movie.

Where do I start.

First off, the acting was horrible. The only actor in this movie that was in part 1 was Peter (Jobes little friend). The first movie had a mysterious and low budget feel to it, which I love, and part 2 has a fluffy and hollywood feel to it, which I absolutely loath. Also, The connection between part 1 and part 2 was very weak.

But, I did like the story line in part 2; it was well written.

I tell you, I was sitting watching the movie with this look on my face, like someone in the room just farted amd the smell wasn't going away.

3-0 out of 5 stars For you "so bad, it's good" entertainment seekers
Script: a convoluted mess, Directing: pitiful even for a neophyte, Special FX: Overly dated, Acting: Ranges from bad to wooden... I could go on, but if you're into "so bad, it's good" entertainment, like myself, you'll find this to be pretty enjoyable. The film begins with Jobe being rescued from the blast at the end of part one, then it cuts to the future where the latest advances in virtual reality help rehabilitate his mind and body. After the doctors learn of his brilliance, he is ordered by Walker, a shady businessman, to build a chip that allows people to escape the diseased/crime-ridden real world and live in a cyberspace eden under his rule. Jobe gets ticked off when he finds out Walker wants to take him out and get all the credit for the project, so HE decides to take over the world instead. Then there is this burnt out Mel Gibson-looking scientist and some teenage cyberpunks who don't want neither of them taking over the world and try to stop them both. Believe it or not, I had more fun laughing at this box office bomb than sitting through more recent sci-fi blockbusters like the Matrix sequels. Don't take it seriously and you'll have a good time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Completely Unwatchable Garbage!
This movie was pure garbage. I enjoyed the first movie and thought part 2 would be a cool sequel. Boy was I wrong! Everything about this movie ...!

1-0 out of 5 stars Lawnmower Man 2: The Absolute Worst Movie Ever Made EVER!!!
Not only is this movie a bad sequel, its a bad movie. Worse that Highlander 2, worse than Plan Nine from Outer Space, worse than (dare i say it?) Battle Field Earth. This is unquestionably the epitome of bad movie. I mean there are some movies that are so bad their good, but this movie is so bad it just bad. And yes its that bad. The first Lawnmower Man was an excellent movie with potental. The movie had a intesting plot that questioned ethics and morality. It was a sort of modern Frankenstin. Lawnmower Man 2 (Jobe's war or Beyond Cyberspace) is the exact opposite of the first. Its almost a spoof of the fist move. This movie should be in the comedy section because there is absolutly no way you could take this movie seriously at all. Jobe, who was a cyber-god at the climax of the first film has been downsized to a mad computer hacker in a wheelchair who for some reason wants to enslave everyone in cyberspace. At the end of the first movie, Jobe's body was destroyed and he became a computer entity. He escaped onto the internet and caused every phone in the world to ring to show the world his power. It was a cliffhager ending! Really intense! What was next? How would he be stopped now? Lawnmower 2 changed the ending of the first movie by making Jobe for some dumb reason go back to his body and become dumb again. The acting is horrible (especially Patrick Bergin) and in the end Jobe becomes his old dumb self and all is forgiven. An why is Peter only a few years older in the far future? Matt Frewer is no Jeff Fehey. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! ... Read more
