Big Bird loves to sing and dance and play, but when his Granny Bird tells him it's "quiet time," he's not sure what to do.Fortunately, Oscar, Telly, Rosita and his other Sesame Street friends have plenty of great ideas, like reading stories, playing quiet games and more. And guest artist Daphne Rubin-Vega joins Big Bird to sing a special "quiet time" song. So come along to Sesame Street, where quiet time is fun time too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Dreams
Both of our children (we have a girl 19 months and boy 3 years with Down Syndrome), will watch from finish to start. We have incorporated it into our nap/bedtime routines. Quiet Time is still as entertaining as the other Sesame Street videos, so they watch it, but it is a little more calming then the others. We give it two tiny thumbs up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sesame Street-Quiet Time
This video helps explain the concept of quiet time to young children. While the video itself is not always quiet, it demonstrates the differences between doing something quietly and loudly and it is extremely entertaining. It suggests several quiet time activities that can be fun and entertaining. My two year old loved watching the video, and, as with most Sesame Street videos, learned something as well. ... A slightly dated but nonetheless fascinating snapshot of musical history, Beat Street is an urban musical detailing the roots of hip-hop. Set in early-1980s New York, the film focuses on the lives of a small group of young people setting their experiences against the larger backdrop of the city's burgeoning music scene. The story of up-and-coming DJ Kenny (Guy Davis) and his relationship with jazz musician Tracy (Rae Dawn Chong) may only be a device, but it's surprisingly effective, as is the ultimately tragic tale of graffiti artist Ramon (Jon Chardiet). The movie's real raison d'être, however, is to showcase the sounds of the street, so it's full of some of hip-hop's most influential names--Melle Mel, Doug E Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, the Rocksteady Crew, Jazzy Jeff, and Arthur Baker. And while the combination of electro and rapping may sound a little crude to modern ears, there can be no doubt that Beat Street is the sight and sound of history being made. --Phil Udell ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A Breakdance Movie with a Hollywood Touch...
This movie is about how life was for urban NYC youngsters during the early 80's. Hip-Hop gave rise with its four elements: Graffiti, Breakdance, MCing, and DJing running wild through the streets. This was the rich culture that people all over the world immersed themselves in and were impacted by. But I agree with those that say Hollywood exploited this culture we call Hip-Hop. They made this movie without understanding its true meaning and essence. But this movie is a fun watch because there are many big names known to the Hip-Hop world in it like the Rock Steady Crew and NYC Breakers, Kool Herc, Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, and many other big names. If anything, this movie is remembered for one thing and that is the notorious ROXY scene and the battle between two great breakdance crews, RSC and NYC Breakers. It's probably one of the best battle scenes ever. I also like this movie because they had a couple of scenes at my alma mater, CCNY. The romance and drama is typical of Hollywood and it doesn't really help to formidably portray the Hip-Hop culture in anyway, rather it takes away from the few notable parts in the movie. They should of omitted the fakery and just focused on what it claims to be about, Hip-Hop. I think it would have had a better reputation and gotten much more respect from those who actually lived the culture during that period. I recommend "Wild Style" or "Style Wars" to check out what Hip-Hop was really all about in those days. PEACE!

5-0 out of 5 stars And the Beat Goes On
A true hip-hop classic. I was first introduced to this film through my mother who was a teenager at the time of it's original release in 1984. Thanks to this movie, at 9 years old, i have a greater appreciation for hip hop and better understand its origins. This movie gives an accurate representation of one of the 20th century's most influential musical genres. Unlike the other hip hop movies Beat Street accurately captures the look and feel of the hip hop culture of New York City in the 80s (sheepskins, bomber jackets, kangol hats) It also takes a holistic look at hip hop nation astutely incorporating all of its elements - rap music, break dancing, spinning/mixing, graffiti art. More than just a movie about hip hop, it is a movie about familial ties, friendship and the triumph of the human spirit. It is a must see for the new generation of hip hop soldiers. Buy it - YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! Peace out!

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS MOVIE SHOULDN'T EVER GET LESS THAN 5!!!!!!
WHOEVER GAVE BEAT STREET LESS THAN 5,,AREN'T TRUE TO HIP HOP,AND PROBABLY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE MOVEMENT THAT BOUGHT ABOUT YOUR 50 CENTS,AND PETEY PABLO'S,AND JAY-Z'S.... BEAT STREET IS MY #1 HIP HOP MOVIE!!! (...)BEAT STREET WILL REMAIN A CLASSIC TO ME..

5-0 out of 5 stars A combination of Beastmaster,Andromeda,Mutant X and Hiphop
Beat street is one of the greatest movies of all time since House party and Class act came out in the 90's decade where I grew up.It was really a great movie and one of the best movies of the year!

5-0 out of 5 stars ROCKSTEADY BY FAR WINS THE BATTLE, OFF CAMERA
In the movie it would have appeared that NYC Breakers would have won the battle @ the Roxy because of their fast, dynamic moves. But I think Rocksteady on the streets would beat them easy. If you see home movie footage of both groups, Rocksteady by far has more original and different moves that show true bboying. But dont get me wrong, I'm not taking away from the NYC Breakers power and speed, and I still think they are tight !! This was my favorite movie growing up in the 80's along with Fast Times @ ridgemont high (what a combination huh !) peace ya'll ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Our favorite Elmo's World
This is my daughter's favorite Elmo's World video. It is fast paced, yet lasts longer than most of the Elmo's World videos. I highly recommend it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay if you like Elmo.
I was thinking when I saw it on the network, that they were going to be showing a lot of history from Sesame Street. Elmo's World pretty much takes over a lot of the show and you only see very very short clips with Elmo riding in a taxi cab.
They have some clips that some may remember growing up for representing the number of the day, which is 10.
They have very short clips at the ending that show the years of Sesame Street that some may remember. Like when Mr. Hooper died, when Snuffy became real, and the Hurricane on Sesame Street.
I have nothing against the little red monster, but I was expecting a little bit more history, and a little less Elmo. When I was growing up, Big Bird and Oscar and Mister Snuffleupagus were the stars.
May Sesame Street have many more years to come. 35 years and one to grow on. ^_^ ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We loved it!
My three year old loves this DVD! He asks to see it at least once a day. My husband and I like the fact that Baby Bear experiences both the positive and negative aspects of becoming a big brother. One of the clips of "real" people depicts a family having a third child, and one of the older siblings has Down's. I love that Sesame Street doesn't shy away from using kids with special needs and shows that they are just regular people like the rest of us. Also, scenes in the hospital show that it is not a scary place to be.

4-0 out of 5 stars 2 year old loves it!
My 2 year old saw this story originally on Sesame Street in 3 different segments. We taped it and she asked for it so much we decided to buy the video. It's extremely entertaining for both our toddler and the adults as well. We think it's very realistic to have reservations about change but the video shows that change can be a good thing. My toddler is also very active but she will sit still for this video only. We love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for kids expecting a new sibling
My daughter got so much out of this video when we were expecting our second baby. It dealt with the doubts a kid might have about the new baby in a sensitive way, and showed how happy the older sibling was when his new sister finally came. We loved it, and have watched it over and over. It gave my daughter an idea of what to expect. And that's been invaluable to me.HIGHLY recommend!

1-0 out of 5 stars not exactly what we were looking for
When this last Christmas rolled around, my husband and I wanted to buy our daughter some new movies, and this was included. As we're expecting our second child in June, we thought this would be a good DVD to help our duahgter cope with the new addition. I not only feel cheated out of the money spent for it, but as this lacks any real substance or entertainment, I feel cheated on the time spent watching it. It doesn't seem to bring a postive spin to an expanding family, but shows it's ok to panic and resent the new baby. I don't reccomend this to parents at all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute for toddler about to get a sibling
I got this for my 2 year old when I was expecting twins. She loved it, and still asks for it everyday. It is a cute way to show a toddler what it will be like to have a new baby in the house. I thought it was pretty entertaining (I liked the panic when Mama Bear went into labor), and reasonably realistic on a 2 year old level. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Rainy day, go away!
Much like "Kid's Favorite Songs," the production values on this tape are pretty poor. The video consists almost entirely of the contrived setup: a sudden rainstorm traps Zoe, Telly, Gabbi and some other kid-actor types inside Finders Keepers (the neighborhood junk store) without any adult supervision. Mumford appears briefly, almost unrecognizable to my two-year-old as he's both out of costume and context. Most of the songs aren't clips, but are sung by the kids in the store.

There is one saving grace to this video: a terrific clip with Ernie singing "Imagine That," the song where he imagines himself a knight and a brave sailor, only to illustrate the fun in being himself in his own home. The only other worthwhile clips are live-action clips of kids, one is "Happy Happiness," with kids playing on the beach.

I'd buy this for the Ernie clip, but don't expect too much from the rest.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but not great
My 2 year old son wasn't thrilled with this 30-minute video and hasn't asked to watch it repeatedly like he does with the videos he really enjoys, maybe because he has other Sesame Street Videos and some of the bits and songs are used from other videos, so he is starting to get a little bit bored. However, he did enjoy the song about the rain, and he really likes to see anything with Zoey in it. Probably because Elmo isn't in it at all he doesn't take as much of an interest in it, as Elmo is the character he appears to feel the most comfortable with and helps link him with the other characters. Also it seems that the concepts in the video are for a slightly older child. Still, an enjoyable amd worthwhile video, as are all Sesame Street videos! I do prefer the newer 50 minute Elmo's World video formats, as does my son.

5-0 out of 5 stars For rainy days and everyday!
My 20-month-old loves this video! It's a rainy day on Sesame Street and Telly and Zoe, along with three of the regular Sesame Street children, wait out the storm in Finders Keepers. In addition to helping Mumford find his way to the beach, they come up with several imaginative ways to pass the time.

The video is lively with lots of catchy songs, which include the fun "Imagine That" sung by Ernie, and "I Love the Rain/I hate the rain."

Though younger kids will love this video for the sights and songs, it can be useful for older children as well, as it teaches fun ways to spend rainy days indoors, such as recycling old containers to make fun new toys. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Give it a try!
Sometimes it takes a few viewings to get into a video in our house. I always preview the tapes before my 17 month old watches them, just to make sure they aren't too scary. I watched this one twice, I loved it so much! This tape is now played every day without fail, and we all love it. Don't be put off by the style of the songs. They aren't really modern sounding, but they are so catchy, that you can't help but love them. Remember that these tapes are for your child, but you have to watch them, too. Enjoy!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Warm and Fuzzy (and blue and orange!)
Similar to "The Best of Kermit" this is arranged as an "award show" - but it contains a fabulous collection of clips with your favorite monsters, and some you've never seen before!

Herry and Elmo host the "Fuzzy Awards," and though Elmo can hardly wait to open the envelope, Herry manages to make him behave while they play the nominees - "Fur," just for fun, "Herry's Family Song," comparing Herry and his parents, "Frazzle," - who says "arrrgh!" no matter what he feels, "Two Heads Are Better than One", with the two-headed monster, "Fuzzy and Blue (and Orange!)" with the terrific trio of Grover, Herry, and Cookie (and Frazzle), "Comb Your Face," "Healthy Food," a Cookie Monster rap, "What Do I Do When I"m Alone" with Grover (what happened to Being Afraid?) and, of course "C is for Cookie."

My favorite moment in the show is the achievement award, which Herry gives to "That Furry Blue Mommy of Mine," a song remeniscent of "Dream a Little Dream" that makes me give my boy an extra squeeze.

Enjoy!

PS. One small dissapointment: it doesn't include "Monster in the Mirror," which surprised me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of monster fun!
I've bought quite a few used videos lately, as the selection is better than what the stores are carrying lately for Sesame Street. This video is a riot and my daughter begs for it almost daily. Set-up like an awards show, the songs "Fur" and "Fuzzy and Blue" are fun and entertaining even for adults. I like this video because it includes the character Frazzle, who was dropped because he was deemed "too scary" to kids. My 2 year old LOVES Frazzle and begs for his song over and over. How's that for scary? This video is cute and the songs are fun. From the songs mentioned above to "C is for Cookie" this video contains lots of monster fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sesame Street's Monster Hits! (1990)
Parents,
This is a great Sesame Songs Video. My 8 year old son loves Cookie Monster and I wanted to find a video that did include him. Tap along as Cookie Monster croons his big hit C Is For Cookie, clap along as Grover sings Fuzzy And Blue and What Do I Do When I'm Alone. Get some more monster in you.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great diversion from the all Elmo everything
It took our 2 year old a little while to get into this video, but now that he has, he asks for it every night "Onster Hits".

As a parent, it's nice to see characters that I grew up including Grover, Herry, Cookie Monster which don't seem to appear much in the current Sesame Street shows.

There are quite a few monster in this video that I hadn't seen, nor have I seen since, although Frazzle is great.

I'd definitely recommend buying this video. You just may have to view it two or three times for you and your kid(s) to get into it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Older Viewing Audience
I have twin boys 18 months old and the Computer Caper part of the DVD is over their heads. They do enjoy the Elmo's World.

3-0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise!
I often think the newer Sesame Street videos don't stack up to the old, but this one is an exception: a great introduction to computers that's entertaining, covers a wide variety of topics, and has an Elmo's world at the end for the diehard toddler fans!

The premise (which should spawn some discussion about internet and email safety with parents whose kids are old enough) is that Telly, who has sent his friends a request for replies after setting up a new email address, gets a mysterious email message from a friend who asks him to guess who they are. Telly and other Sesame Street friends search high and low to find out who the mystery emailer is! There are a lot of Sesame Street animated clips and songs to help the plot along, including a GREAT bit with Cookie Monster and Prairie Dawn. If you're raising a budding hacker, this is for you! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Parents! Look no further!
My daughter, age 2, will tell you that this is Elmo and Telly's video, and that she loves it. As a parent, I will share with you that my little one has number recognition to 20 thanks to these classic counting cartoons. I was pleased to see that they had included such classics as the King of Eight.

We own several of Sesame Street's counting videos, but this one is by far the best. My daughter enjoys the "video game" - type format (Elmo and Telly are trapped inside a video game and have to work their way to 20 to get out), but I like that the number focus does not stop at 10, as is the case for many preschool videos.

As a teacher, this video would be good for students who need number recognition reinforcement or for English Language Learners.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
Totally lame! Not only am I bored, but so is my 21 month old son. We got this video in a set with "Do the Alphabet" and he loves that one, but won't even sit through 2 minutes of this one. Don't waste your money.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor graphics and no continuity
This is the first Sesame Street Dvd that our 16 month old actively dislikes. A series of older sesame street cartoons are strung together very loosely by Telly, Elmo and two kids on a computer generated background. There is really little action from the characters themselves - no real dialogue or singing or anything which is what my son really enjoys. So, this one was a loser in our household. If you child prefers the cartoons to the actual characters, it could be the perfect dvd for you though...

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than the alphabet jungle..
I was disapointed with the alphabet jungle, but was glad to see more of Elmo in this one & characters in this one, plus it's pretty catchy. My child loves the Sesame street t.v. show, and I was hoping that this video, would be more like it, but overall I'm fairly please with this one.

2-0 out of 5 stars No plot -- hastily thrown together skits
The 123 Count With Me video starring Ernie is much better done, with lots of muppet acting and takes the numbers to only 15, but with a personal touch. That video totals upto 45 minutes of enjoyment for parents and toddler. This video on the other hand features all of 2 minutes of Elmo, Telly, Gabi and another child. There is not coherent plot -- i.e. while they start off with a video game premise, they just throw together all of the skits on numbers, and never have the muppets appear to actually lead in each script. After a while of random skits on half the numbers, Elmo or Telly makes a brief aimless appearance. And even stranger, there is an unexplained scary cookie chasing them. This approach quickly turns off both the parents and the toddlers who wait for glimpses of their favorite characters. Pass on it. AND the DVD version is made without any extras, such as subtitles, or sing-alongs etc. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Why I Like Elmopalooza, (- by Baby Tiffany, 23 months old)
I am 23 months old and am currently learning how to pottie train. I liked this video because the songs are catchy. I thought John Stewart was very funny and likeable without being condescending to us toddlers, unlike Rosie O'Donnel, who always just goes completely over the top with her forced gregariousness and unnatural repartee with children. Also, I was slightly disappointed that Elmo was pretty scarce throughout the video, but Shawn Colvin's wonderful rendition of "I don't wanna live on the moon" definitely made up for that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sesame Street, always a winner!
This is a fabulous and funny musical tribute to Sesame Street. It is a great variety show (a la Muppet Show) which is a plus. Jon Stewart plays a great part of the would-be show host that gets locked in his dressing room. Elmo is prevalent, but not as much as the title would suggest. I don't believe that it is enough to give it disparaging marks!

(For those of you who are hung up on Elmo, check out Elmo in Grouchland!)

Rosie, Shawn and all of the stars are gregarious and wonderful for children to watch. In fact, it is a video that I enjiy watching with or without my children!!!

5 stars!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best from Sesame Street
We have no less than 10 other Sesame Street DVD's starring Elmo and other various characters.
This is the most disappointing one we have bought. It is not similar to the others or the show.
The music video portions of this DVD don't have songs that are as catchy as the typical Elmo/Sesame St. songs. My 18 month old twins lose interest when the songs come on...the opposite of the other DVD's.
Also, the plot line is a little lame with the stars locked in the dressing room and lost in a limo. Couldn't they have made better use of the talented actors and artists that volunteered for this?
Wish I had rented it before buying.

3-0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves the songs...
I'm glad I got dvd. I skip straight to her favorite parts. It doesn't have a whole lot of muppets in it, but she loves music... I think that is the only thing that saved it. A very misleading title.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 3 month old loves this tape!
We are raising our infant son to be bilingual. My husband speaks only Spanish to him and I speak only English. Since I wanted more exposure to Spanish for our infant when my husband is at work, I ordered "A Dormir" and played it for background noise. Little did I know our 3 month old would instantly become interested in the bright colors of the muppets and the great songs and skits. He laughs out loud at several of the skits and has several favorites already. This is a wonderful video for those looking for "total immersion" in Spanish as well as being very educational and entertaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excelente!

Do the Alphabet
When Baby Bear must learn his alphabet in one day, Big Bird patientlytakes him under his wing in Do the Alphabet. Only "The Method,"(a hilarious combination of dance, song, visualization, and grouptherapy) can help Baby Bear on such short notice. The result is 40minutes of ABC's Sesame Street style, where vibrant educationalcartoons, enthusiastic kids, famous guest stars (here, Billy Joel), andharmonizing Muppets make lasting educational impressions. Children ages2 to 6 will enjoy the upbeat musical numbers dedicated to variousletters; a favorite segment features the Boogie Woogie Piggies andtheir flashy rendition of the alphabet song. Throughout the well-pacedshow, Big Bird offers just the right blend of coaching and friendship, much like the ace support-group leader he's mildly spoofing. Hats offto Sesame Street for helping Baby Bear--and his viewingaudience--understand that learning takes time, patience, and a teameffort. --Liane Thomas

123 Count With Me
Join Ernie at the Furry Arms Hotel for a musical lesson in just howuseful counting can be. When Ernie finds and returns a misplaced key,he uses his knowledge of numbers to return the key to the correctguest. As Ernie begins to learn about the hotel business, he finds manycommon situations in which counting is essential. Throughout the30-minute video, Ernie and his friends help children learn to countfrom 1 to 20 with such songs as the jazzy "That's How the Numbers Go,"an original version of the Chorus Line show tune "One," and "RapSong #11." Favorite Sesame Street characters Elmo and the Count arejoined by new characters including Ding the Dinger, a furry fellow witha bell on his head, and Benny, the bellboy that responds to Ding theDinger's dings. Children as young as 18 months will bounce happilyalong with the catchy tunes, and 2-year-olds will be inspired to countaloud with Ernie. Kids up to age 5 will hone their counting skills andlaugh at the increasingly frustrated Benny as he delivers everythingfrom 1 bucket of ice to 15 stampeding elephants! If you're looking fora fun video that teaches counting skills, here it is. --TamiHoriuchi ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Do the Alphabet
I have to say my 12 month old daughter loves do the alphabet she tries to sing along with the songs and dances. This video definitely has her attention. I wouldn't say just because baby bear can't pronounce words correctly my child would speak that way. Unless that is all your child will hear day after day. If the child is conversating with you then baby talk will not be an issue. My daughters vocabulary is very advanced for her age and I don't see her having any speech problems because of the way baby bear talks. As the previous parent suggested. The video is just meant to enforce what you are already teaching you child so they see the alphabet in different settings, cards, toys etc. And help them learn. Not teach them how to talk. My daughter loves it and so do I!!!! The song is very simple and easy for any child to remember.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful teaching tool!
My daughter loves Sesame Street, so we picked up this video on a whim. Great purchase! At 20 months old, she says her alphabet and counts to 15. It's not just number recognition, either -- she counts items on pages of books and groups of toys. She loves Ernie and Baby Bear, and loves to sing along and dance to the songs. We're very pleased!

1-0 out of 5 stars Do the Alphabet - a great disappointment
I bought this video along with some of the Elmo's World videos which my son loves, and I was so disappointed after watching it only once. I will not let my 17 month old son watch it as he loves to watch Elmo videos over and over. I don't want him watching Baby Bear doing his "mispwonunciations" while my son is in this stage of learning speech. I do not want my son to listen to the "mispwonunciations" and pick them up and then have to teach him the correct pronunciation later. It's hard enough for them to learn speech but their learning is based on what they hear. Since Sesame Street does not include an age guide on the outside of the video, I'm not sure if they meant for this to be for older children and maybe it isn't a problem when they're older but I plan to donate this video because I wouldn't even give it to another mom to have then go through this. Maybe in a library or a doctor's office where children only view the tape occasionally it would be OK but this was NOT the video for my family to own. I also will not be bringing home anything else with Baby Bear speaking in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must pass this video on to the next generation
I bought this video for my son when he was three years old and in no time, he mastered the video. Now I am passing this knowledge down to my grandaughter who is 7 months. I can't wait to see how she will re-act to the video. My son had a sing along sesame street record he grew up with and I found myself playing his record for my own enjoyment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Toddler twins love Do The Alphabet
I purchased Do The Alphabet for my boy/girl twins when they were 6 months old and they've been mesmerized by it since. They are now 20 months old and are beginning to say the words of the alphabet song along with Big Bird and Baby Bear. I think that this video and some of our other Sesame Street videos (like The Alphabet Jungle Game) have helped them begin to recognize and be able to say the letters sooner. They are particularly fascinated with Baby Bear. I would highly recommend this one! ... Read more

There weren't many African American faces when MGM trotted out thepastiche of its own musical glory, 1974's That's Entertainment! That factis redressed in dazzling fashion in this compilation video, originally broadcaston Showtime. Hosted by Vanessa Williams, the retrospective is broken up intoseveral categories: dancers, divas, rock and soul, jazz and swing, male singers, and hip-hop. With an 80-minute running time, it's hardly comprehensive, but whatit includes is choice. Most dazzling is a section on tap dancers, with amazingfootage of relatively unknown (at least in the mainstream) performers like Stump& Stumpy and Earl "Snakehips" Tucker. It's easy to quibble about people who areincluded (Diana Ross over Etta James?) or excluded (Ray Charles? Chuck Berry?),but it's hard to ignore the terrific old footage or the cogent commentary byobservers such as Jamie Foxx, Quincy Jones, and Debbie Allen. --MarshallFine ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Way, Way Too Short!
The 3 stars are for the brevity of the disc itself. The content gets 5 stars. The problem we have here is that this should have been a 6 hour (at least) program instead of 80 minutes. Magnificent black artists are only touched upon and many, many are left out all together. The dvd has 6 chapters: THE DANCERS, THE DIVAS, MALE SINGERS, JAZZ & SWING, ROCK & SOUL and HIP HOP. So you have about 10 minutes on the history of black jazz and swing music...yeah, right! And think of the wealth of information disclosed when we are treated to 10 minutes on the history of rock and soul music. RIDICULOUS! It's like getting a smell of the bar-b-q and not being able to taste it. Don't get me wrong....what there is is fantastic. It's just that there is so little! It's so brief that it almost seems to cut off mid-sentance. The rich legacy of entertainment left to us by Sammy Davis Jr is wrapped up in about 2 minutes. The Nicholas Brothers get a little more time but still not nearly enough. It IS probably worth the money but don't expect more than an 80 minute overview of wonderful black entertainers who should have been given a helluva lot more time out of respect for their magnificent efforts. This doesn't apply to the boring Rap & Hip Hop segment. That's all mouth and attitude...not entertainment, and self-confessed players and hustlers of limited talent like Ice T (see "Pimps Up, Ho's Down) should have stayed at home. ... Read more

Read more

Description

By Daniel Stein. The Trial of the Moke is based on the real life story of the humiliation and anguish suffered by Lt. Henry Ossian Flipper, the first black graduate of West Point. Assigned to serve at Fort Davis, Texas in 1881, Flipper became the object of a conspiracy to rid the base of its only black graduate. Flipper, portrayed by Franklyn Seales, was framed by white officers who accused him of embezzling government funds. Ninety-four years later, Flipper was vindicated only a week after "The Trial of the Moke" ended its world premiere run at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in 1976. A military reburial with honors followed in 1978. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Video!!
I actually have not bought this video yet. However, I have rented it from the library numerous times. My daughter is 20 months old and just loves this video. The songs are very catchy and easy to remember. My daughter also enjoys watching the children on the video. I think this is a great video to entertain children, but I would not expect my child to learn a lot of Spanish from wathcing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 3 month old loves this tape!
My husband and I am raising our 3 month old to be bilingual. He speaks only Spanish to him and I speak only English. We love this tape as a way to give our son more exposure to the Spanish language when my husband is not home. Our 3 month old already shows a definate preference for certain skits and actually laughs out loud at his favorites! Great tape, very entertaining as well as educational.

3-0 out of 5 stars A bit disapointed
We have Fiesta and absolutely love it so I was a bit disapointed with Exitos Musicales. It doesn't hold my daughters attention like other Sesame Street videos do and the songs are simply not as memorable as the ones on Fiesta.

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter's favorite video!
My daughter loves this video! It is the only thing that totally calms her down. She has been watching it since she was 3 months old. Seven months later it is still her favorite. She is mesmorized by it. My husband's first language is Spanish so, it is a great way for her to hear Spanish besides from her father.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great tool for teaching Spanish to a toddler...
My 21 m.o. little girl really enjoys the video. I sit with her and sing the songs. She really likes "El Parque", Las Vacas, and "Cinco" by Elmo. ... Read more
