The BEST alphabet video on the market!
I bought this tape for my little boy when he was 16 months old.
This is by far the best alphabet movie I have seen to date. It's not all annoying loud songs like so many of the movies are now. My son is allowed to watch one movie per day, and this is usually his first choice. Believe it or not, by 17/18 months he was saying the entire alphabet. His pediatrician was shocked at his 18 month visit! There are lots of neat songs and video clips from Sesame Street episodes from the early 70's I remember myself on this tape!

Variety and simplicity
If you are looking for an introduction to letters for your child, this is a wonderful video. Through entertaining skits and a variety of visuals, the Sesame Street Gang go through the alphabet while coming up with words that begin with each letter. The sequence of photos of street signs and billboards which zero in on each letter in order is a real favorite with our 28-month old and has led to his interest in street signs and letter recognition in our own neighborhood. The pace is leisurely enough for toddlers who are just learning sounds, yet contains enough music and animated sequences to capture the attention of squirmy kids--if you happen to have one of those. Please note: There is no Elmo in this video, which to my mind is a plus but may be a disappointment to rabid Elmo fans.

Excellent Learning Aid
Sesame Street learning about Letters, Has helped my 22 month old twin boys, and my daughter who is 3 1/2 to learn the alphabet, and have fun at the same time. They all ask to watch this video almost every day!

Great entertainment and Great learning!!!
This video has been around for a while; my now 14yr old daughter used to watch this video everyday from 9months old on. No kidding, by the time she was 18 months old, she could identify ALL the letters if you asked her to point to any one!
Now, I have a 4yr old, 3yr old, and twin 2yr olds who are really learning alot from this video, albeit not as fast as my 14yr did.
I would recommend this to anyone with kids from 6months up!

A Change of Pace
At first, my children showed little interest in this video because they are used to watching the more modern, computerized visual effects now used on Sesame Street. But, after watching it a few times, they are showing much more interest in it. There are many sesame street classics in this video that are enjoyable and my son has learned to count better, but the reason why my children tend to lose interest is because too much time and emphasis is put on Big Bird's role as a talk show host.

One of the best of the Sesame Street videos
This video has a few of the very best clips from Sesame Street ever---like the one where cats go in a dollhouse and knock down the little cups, and the one where a ball goes down an elaborate roller coaster setup, and then is ground up into smaller balls which go on ice cream sundaes! My boys love to watch this. My only problem with it is Big Bird's try at acting like Johnny Carson---it's out of character. He acts nothing like his regular personality in the between clips part of this video, and that's a little annoying, but not terribly so.

Classic Sesame Street!
If you grew up watching Sesame Street, then you will LOVE having this video for your kids. You will recognize many of the songs and skits. No, it is not as flashy and digital as modern Sesame Street, but that's a good thing, in my opinion. If your children watch a lot of TV, their attention span might not allow them to watch this video. If you prefer to use TV/videos sparingly, like we do, your kids will love it as much as you will. I just hope they put this on DVD!

Toddlers LOVE this video
I am a daycare provider. My daycare kids just love this video. I have all the number and letter Sesame Street videos. This is the favorite of all the numbers ones. All the Sesame Street number ones are worth having. But if you could only get one. I would choose this one. I had this one for my daughter when she was a toddler and she loved it then too. As for the letter videos. I would pass on the Learning about Letter video. It was By far the worst of all the videos. No thought was put into making that video.

My son just turned 3. He recently started watching this video and he really likes it. He already knew how to count to 20 but this made it more interesting. In my opinion, this tape has some cute clips with alot of variation. Different from other counting tapes. The host is Big Bird and the Count. Ernie, Grover, Kermit, The Honkers and other classic Sesame Street people are also included. I have three other counting tapes from Babys First Impressions, Watch N Learn and one other Sesame Street counting tape. This Learning About Numbers is by far my sons favorite. .... If you have a motivated child who LOVES music and dancing this is perfect. Big Bird's teddy bear (Radar) is having a birthday party and YOU are invited. That's why the dance teacher keeps looking at the camera. To make your child a part of the party!!! ....

My daughter is 16 months and knows all the steps and songs. The first song is instructional, where you touch your toes, turn around, pull on your ears etc. After dancing with her, my daughter knows all her body parts!

My daughter (22months) loves this video
I agree with others that the dance teacher is annoying, but my daughter loves this video. This video really has taught her how to follow directions. She does the dances along with the kids on the show and has fun. She asks for it almost every day. I actually bought it for the "Animal Birthday" song because I love Kingston Livingston the 3rd, but the rest of the video is fun. Especially the last song. Whenever she starts to get cranky, we can sometimes avoid a tantrum by singing the "I'm a Little Airplane" song and she will start being an airplane instead! Whatever works!

Dancing Machine!
My two year old son LOVES LOVES this video. In fact we already owned it and he carries it everywhere, in the car, to friends houses, on trips so it's pretty tattered! We took it to a party tonite and it entertained all the kids, but it's on it's last play I think! I just bought another and hope it gets here fast before the old DVD self destructs! I also have a one year old and they both love to do the dance moves and it's good exercise for mom too! It's just a FUN video for everyone and I actually like all the songs - not too annoying! Any toddler would love this video/dvd!

My daughter who is 17 months and her friend who is two yrs. love this video. My daughter tries to dance along with the kids, and she loves the songs. I only wish I had it on dvd.

Great!
My 2 year old daughter loves to dance along to this DVD. She has the routine of the first dance memorized, and it's so cute to watch her do the dances. It's a great way to get your child to exercize, and stay entertained. Usually, she gets sick of these DVD's rather quickly, but she's watched this one about a hundred times, and still loves it! ... "Very, best favorite "
My two year old daughter would watch this twice a day if we let her. Fortunately we don't mind listening to it. The message is good, the story is cute & the songs are catchy. We find ourselves walking around the house humming, "this is Elmo's train, chugga-chugga whoo whoo!" Since we won't let her watch TV all day, now my daughter want to play with trains.

Dull, long-winded, and not the right message
I have many Sesame St videos from the great (123 Count With Me, Bert and Ernie's Word Play) to the not so great (Get Up and Dance), but I absolutely HATE this one!

Firstly the "sharing" message is delivered in a heavy way with very few songs to liven it up. Then the newsreader/interviewer format used doesn't work at all - it is just incredibly boring. Even the introduction of familiar characters like Jack and Jill and the Three Little Pigs cannot save this dud.

I think it may even teach children to be more selfish and "MINE" oriented than they were before they watched it. Elmo constantly talks about Elmo's train, and it's clear that he absolutely hates to share. At the end he only agrees to share due to purely selfish reasons (otherwise Zoe won't play with him anymore), and he tries to share as little as possible (as little as Zoe will let him get away with).

This DVD portrays sharing as a strict case of quid pro quo - I'll give you a cookie, but ONLY IF you give me half your glass of milk. Never mind that I have lots of cookies (more than I can eat). I think sharing should be portrayed as motivated by friendship, affection and caring, not only selfish "what's in it for me?" thinking.

OK overall; high points for educational value.
My 3-year-old finds it impossible to share trains, which must be a common problem, as the video opens to Elmo and "Elmo's Train." Although not as good as "Big Bird Gets Lost," I think this video has value in a preschooler's collection. The message is clear: it's boring to play by yourself, but nobody wants to play with someone who doesn't treat them with respect. Sharing strategies like playing different parts of a game, taking equal turns, putting different games or toys together, and splitting things into parts are outlined by Elmo, Zoe, Big Bird and the Grouches in the main plot.

Katie Couric (who is not an actress - bear with her) cuts in occasionally as a newscaster for "Cooperation Today" solving conundrums like how Jack & Jill can get up the hill, and how the 3 little pigs can keep themselves safe by helping them work together. A few vintage clips "What is Friend?" with Cookie Monster, and "Two Heads are Better than One" are included. Unfortunately, the rest of the music on this tape is not up to Sesame Street standards. Joe Raposo's "Share" by Elmo, Zoe, and Big Bird isn't too bad - but the Elmo's Train song is annoying, and the Cooperation Song is unpleasantly saccharin.

That being said, my 3 year old preschooler was riveted to his seat, and cried for me to rewind it when it was over. He just started school, and is struggling with this issue - the video seemed to help him collect his thoughts. Again, as in "Big Bird Gets Lost," we had a great discussion afterwards. I'd definitely recommend this to parents whose kids are having a tough time learning to play.

Love this video BUT........
My 22 month old loves this video! She loves Elmo & Katie Couric, and she loves dancing to "So Much Better". She quickly learned "Jack & Jill" and about "The Three Little Pigs". The only bad thing about the video is that it taught her to say "No" even more; she even says "Elmo says no!". And the video taught her the word "MINE". When Zoe asks Elmo if he would share his train with her, Elmo says "No! Elmo says no! This train is mine, mine. MINE!" So when we watch this video, I mute this section.

Good one to have
My son, then 18 months loved this video watched days and nights. I am not sure that has something to do with it, but he is very good at sharing his toys with other chilldren. He also does not touch or grab toys that do not belong to him unless he gets permission. I didn't think asking preschool children to ask so politely (with that kind of choice of words )"Pardon me ...." was realistic, as Katey said in the commentary she made as a parent of preschooler, but other than that it was very entertaining and educational. ... This version of Uncle Tom's Cabin was unique and articulate although it had its misrepresentations and differences from the novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It overall was a good movie in my opinion including some famous actors and not straying to far from the novel made this version entertaining. One specific detail which vexes me was the fact that when Eliza was crossing the river there was no ice according to the novel there was ice and I feel it added plenty of suspenseful goodness. Uncle tom was and still is my favorite character how this film depicted his life and death was a sure tear jerker. I am also glad that they kept the last words with Mr. Shelby's son who loved tom. In closing I would like to say that I actually enjoyed this version and rate it higher than others.

When you make a movie based on a novel, especially when the novel is good, the movie usually falls tragically short of capturing the book's emotion and suspense. Such is the case with the movie version of Uncle Tom's Cabin . The book itself by Harriet Beecher Stowe was very heartfelt and I, for one, loved it, but the movie could not capture the emotions that the book brings to light.
The movie opens in Kentucky, where The Shelby's live. Mr. Shelby has to sell two of his slaves, Tom and young Harry, to pay off a debt to a slave trader, Mr. Haley. Harry's mother, Eliza, decides to run away to save her child(Harry) and hopefully reunite with her husband who fled to Canada. Tom will not go with her for fear that the rest of his family will be sold. Eliza successfully escapes across the river and is taken in by some Quakers near the Canadian border. Tom on the other hand, is left to take his chances with Mr. Haley and the promises of his master to bring him back as soon as possible.
Through all this the movie does not establish the characters very well, and does not make you feel any sympathy for any of them. This is because many important scenes of the book were changed or left out. For example, one of the most famous scenes in the story is the scene where Eliza escapes across a river of ice, and in the movie, Eliza escapes across the river in a raft because it is warm. This escape does not capture the same drama as it did in the book, and was a big disappointment to me personally. Even tiny things have been changed which make no sense to me. For example, the Shelby's son is named Christopher in the movie, but in the book his name is George and this seems like a completely pointless change . I also did not agree with the casting choices in the movie. Augustine is an older man in the movie and if you look in the book, St. Clare was continually referred to as Tom's YOUNG master. In retrospect, there is not many good things I can say about this movie. The only characters I thought were fairly true to the writing of the book were Simon Legree, Marie, and maybe Tom. Other than that I think the movie was a complete failure in bringing this classic book to life, and I recommend that you read the book instead.

The silent movie was much better
The book by H.B.S. was not intended to be about heroism or love but about the inhumanity of slavery. The author breathed life into the characters primarily to evoke sympathy for them from the reader or hatred for them in the case of Simon Legree. I saw this black and white silent movie for the first time at the age of 13. Up until that time I had only occasional contact with black people and did not understand why they were so radical about the topic of slavery. My only understanding of slavery was the Shirley Temple version and I thought black people were being overly sensitive about it. Seeing Uncle Tom's Cabin was like an awakening that changed my understand of the whole relationship between black people and slavery. The silent movie was much better at bringing across the true purpose of the novel without the hollywood slant of modern versions.

WOW!
The movie entitled Uncle Tom's Cabin was an excellent film. I am really glad that I got a chance to view it. I could watch this over and over again. I praise Tom for his courage and for him standing up for what was right although he was beaten for it plenty of times. From this particular movie I saw that not all white people were bad, and I also saw how slaves were treated back in the times of slavery. They were just sold like they were a piece of dirt and just like they weren't even human beings. I think that this is a good film to watch for anyone is learning about slavery to see what it was all about.
The movie ,Uncle Tom's Cabin, was about a man named Tom who was a devote Christian. He was free but he wasn't free. I say this because although he wasn't free physically he was free mentally. He knew he that nobody could buy his soul. Through the whole movie he stood up for what was right and spoke his mind. Although aware of the consequences he still pressed on. People like him is what makes our history. People who stood up, and didn't accept less. People who knew that nobody was better then them and that they deserved to be treated equally. He helped those who were in the time of need. The great thing about everything that happened in the movie and everything that Tom accomplished is that it wasn't fiction it was fact. It really happened.
This movie was good! I liked how Tom stood up for himself and everyone else although he got beat for it. He always did the right thing no matter what.
In conclusion I would like to say that Uncle Tom's Cabin was a great film to watch. I would rate this a 10 on a scale from 1 to 10. I would definitely love to see this movie again.

Uncle Tom'S Cabin
Uncle Tom's Cabin contracts the many different attitudes that southerners as well as northerners shared towards slavery. It shows the evils of slavery and the cruelty and inhumanity of the peculiar institution, in particular how masters treat their slaves and how families are torn apart because of slavery. This movie is great it really shows what happen to African Americans back in the old days how a man like Uncle Tom had so much courage that he got killed because he didn't want the two slaves to get caught by their master when they ran away. This movie really made me think why, how this could have happen in America people where getting sold like they where cars from owner to owner it made me change because it makes me think that I have it good. The Best of Elmo on DVD
I originally purchased The Best of Elmo on VHS in 1994 when my son was three years old. I have recently rediscovered my appreciation for this wonderfully amusing story on DVD through the eyes of my 3 year-old daughter. The Best of Elmo has a variety of songs, dance numbers, and short comedy skits from Sesame Street featuring the lovable character, Elmo. I like this DVD because it is entertaining for preschoolers, and it teaches valuable lessons about sharing and diversity. The theme to the video is Elmo taking his drawings to the "Monster Art Show." Each drawing that Elmo created tells a story. When Elmo shows one of his drawings, the video proceeds into another skit or musical number.

Some songs include:
•One Fine Face: Elmo and Ernie sing about their facial features. This is a great way for toddlers to learn names for parts of their face.
•Happy Tappin' with Elmo: This is a cute number where Elmo wears little tap shoes and dances down a staircase.
•Five Jive with Elmo Hammer: This song features Elmo as a rapper with back up singers. He wears baggy pants, and sunglasses and sings about the number five.
•Elmo's Song: This is the original song that inspired the theme song for the skit "Elmo's World". Elmo plays the piano and sings his "theme song" with Big Bird and Snuffy.

Comedy Skits with Celebrity Guest Stars:
There is a comedy skit with Elmo and Julia Roberts. Elmo is trying to scare Julia because he is a "monster". However, Julia ends up frightening Elmo! The second celebrity skit features Whoopi Goldberg and Elmo. Elmo tells Whoopi that her skin is a pretty brown, and she explains the differences between, skin, hair, and fur. This is a very educational lesson to young children that is easy for them to comprehend.

My daughter really enjoys watching this DVD. I would definitely recommend this DVD for toddlers.

Now HEAR THIS-Best of Elmo DVD Rocks !!
My title is in response ...against the DVD on its lack of audio quality. Audio quality?!? I have an 18th month old who LOVES Elmo, and of course, this video is one of her favorites. And mine too-for several reasons. I actually like the fact it is "short and sweet" (in fact, I am purchasing Favorite Song DVD for that exact reason)-there are times when I don't want her or us to sit in front of the TV (or computer monitor as in our case) for 45-50 mins. Sometimes, we are both in the mood for a concise, entertaining, educational, fun video-and that exactly what it delivers. I have never noticed the poor audio I have to admit. Plus, to me, the main reason I pay an extra $$ for a Sesame Street DVD (at Target, etc) is because I don't have to constantly rewind it. I don't expect SONY to make drastic improvements. Sesame Street was always about quality of material, not cutting edge technology. Also, DVDs have a much higher resale value which is another reason to buy it. ... Let your kids decide if they like it-I'm pretty sure they will!

What!?!
Yeah, we pay may pay taxes to put Sesame Street on, but the show itself is free. We don't pay for PBS like cable. Our libaries. hospitals, and cops get our tax money too, are you going to boycott them as well?

This is a good video. My triplets go NUTS over Elmo. I, for one, try to be out of earshot when the videos on (I can't stand Elmos voice!!!) A good flick!

Just okay
A mixture of Elmo skits, and in my opinion, not necessarily "the Best". To link the skits together, Elmo shows his drawings to Seasame friends with each picutre then leading to a skit. In the end all the pictures are gone & elmo has none to put in the Monster Art show. But Seasame friends learn of this and give him back his pictures. This disk is nothing like Elmo's World skits. But my 2yr old daughter does watch this, though it's not her favorite. It's not a bad one, but there are so many more Seasame & Elmo videos out there that I would pick over this one.

Be prepared to watch it over and over and over......
My 2-year old LOVES this DVD. He will watch it 3 times in a row, easily. As soon as the credits roll, he says "Elmo, again!" And I gotta admit, I enjoy it as well. Some of it is pretty dated, so those of you who are new to Elmo will notice that his voice is a little different in the older segments. The Best!
For those that need a pick-me-up that are past "the age" when Muppets are supposed to be entertaining, or for your young ones that have missed out on the hey-day of Sesame Street when it was even greater than it is now, this is one of the best movies to watch! With a passion for Egyptology and history in general, this was one of my favorite PBS specials growing up--even more so than 'Follow that Bird!'. It's truly educational and heart-warming. Can not go wrong with this movie.

You'll laugh, you'll cry---it's better than "Cats"!!
Sesame Street specials are always wonderful, but this hour long movie, filmed when Sesame Street was in its prime, is just spectacular. It remains one of my favorite ways to cheer myself up (I'm 27). When Big Bird wanders off near closing time to meet Snuffleupagus, and the rest of the Sesame Street monsters and humans try frantically to find him, they all get locked overnight in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The rest of the video, which amounts to the bulk of the story, revolves around three main storylines: 1.) everyone trying to find Big Bird while avoiding the suspicious but clueless mustachio-ed museum security guard, 2.) everyone discovering and enjoying the museum in the process, and 3.) Big Bird and Snuffleupagus helping a little Egyptian boy named Sahu prove his inner worth in a yearly "test", so that the god Osiris will let him join his parents as stars in the sky. There is enough of a storyline to ensnare even those with the shortest of attention spans, children and adults alike, and quite a bit of comic relief to lighten the way. Watching straight-arrow Bob as he runs around trying to keep Cookie Monster from scarfing down the Still Lives, while a group of dancing Monster-ettes sings the doo-wop title tune: "Don't eat the pictures, no, no, no!", is particularly amusing; as are the scenes where Sahu's invisible cat, who still meows audibly, befuddles that poor hapless security guard. The many many shots of the Museum interior are gorgeous, and a magical exposure/introduction to art and museums, in particular the paintings, sculpture, and medieval artifacts of the Met. The video of course has a happy ending, but one that will bring tears to your eyes. I watched this tape for the first time when I was 7 years old, and I must say that when as an adult I had my first opportunity to go to the Met in person, it was a truly awesome visit. Another friend who had watched the movie as a child led me on what we called the Don't Eat the Pictures Tour, and she showed me every piece of art showcased in the movie. Her tour ended at the Temple of Dendur itself, and as it was near closing time, it was dark outside with stars in the sky--just like the penultimate scene of DETP. A memorable day, and a memorable movie. It's a true gift from the Sesame Street gang to us, the viewing public. You and your kids will love it.

Don't Eat The Pictures (1987)
Parents,
In this rare Sesame Street video they go to the Metropolitan Museum Of Art. My 8 year old boy loves Coookie Monster so I tried to find a tape that included him. Big Bird goes gets Suffy to leave the museum but when he comes back to all his friend they were stuck in the museum. Cookie Monster sees a picture but Cookie Monster sings a song to don't eat the pictures.

This is Great
I first saw this when I was in the second grade and my parents taped it on BETA for me. The story line is great for this age group. Since I like Egyptian history, Prince Sahu and his story is really sweet. Just like the other Special features that Sesame Street has done, this is golden. Just like all the other ones. Christmas on Sesame Street (with Mr. Hooper) Big Bird in China and Big Bird in Japan.

I should be able to give it a higher number
Because it certainly desrves it. Unlike today's emphasis on dumbing down programing ala Barney, this video tape was made in a time when children were actually respected and given enormous respect.

Granted some of the acting seems weird because of the programing shift, but I seriously doubt that it would scare today's little kids. I watched it as a little girl, and keep hoping that it will be released.

One of the unexpected side effects of this non-condescending treatment is that young adults such as myself still fondly remember this movie and are not at all bored by the pace. Whatever your chronological age, you will find this program timeless in it's appeal and beloved by all.

That is what indicates real staying power, not how many toys one can invent, market and make profit from. ... Read more

This is my toddler's favorite video
My son has been watching this video since he was around 6 months old, and still loves it (he's now 15 months old). He watches it almost every day, and never seems to get tired of it. As soon as we put it in, and Old MacDonald comes on, he starts bouncing up and down and making excited noises. The songs are very catchy, the length is perfect (30 minutes, just enough time to make dinner), and it's educational. My son is learning all about the different sounds that animals make. Somehow, our tape got ruined, so we are buying a new one. We can't live without it!

Great video...
Especially if you love 'Gladys The Cow' (one of my favourite muppets). She was hilarious on this video. The problem was that there weren't enough Muppet songs. there was some, but the others just showed real animals. they could have shown some more Gladys songs or maybe even some songs Kermit The Frog or that Animal Orchestra featuring Placido Flamingo and Seiji Ozawa

This is my very, very favorite Sesame Street video, because it contains the clips I love best; the live-animal clips with goofy songs like "I'm a working dog," "I'm an aardvark," "Which came first, the chicken or the egg," and "I love being a pig." It also includes muppet classics like "We are all earthlings," and, my personal favorite, "Baa Baa Bamba." It's a half hour of shoe-tapping, hand-clapping fun - my toddler and I both love it!

Not like other Sesame Street videos.
My 20 month old son loves Sesame Street and all the puppets, but this video shows too many live animal videos. It doesn't keep his interest like the other videos.

Not our favorite Sesame Street video
Okay, usually I rate the S.S. videos high, but we bought this video last week and my daughter has watched it only a handful of times. Hosted by Big Bird and a barn full of animals, there are several songs that you will know. "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and "We are all Earthlings" are two that we knew right away. Some of the clips are really old and didn't hold my daughter's attention (or mine, for that matter). She walks out of the room five minutes after this video comes on...every time! Great music, and an easy way for kids (and adults) to learn Spanish. We are raising our 16 month old son to be bilingual, and this is his favorite video. Elmo and Rosita and all the upbeat music and bright colors keep his interest. It is just the right length, too.

Great video!
Very fun -- my kids love it! They picked up a few words and phrases -- but more importantly, they are becoming familiar with the sounds which will help them when they start their formal education. I also highly recommend the Global Village Kids' SING AND LEARN CD -- these are bilingual nursery rhymes in Spanish and English which are fun for kids and help them pick up words and phrases in Spanish.

Great Video... especially Celia Cruz singing the numbers...
I bought this for my niece who is 20 months old. She loves it. And I think its pretty cute. She runs to the tv and asks for it and when its over she asks for it again. We are a bilingual family, she says words in both spanish and english already. My family is Cuban and listening to Celia Cruz sing the numbers song with latin rhythm is really funny. You won't be disappointed if you buy this.

Absolutely wonderful
My son is two and a half and he LOVES this video. We received it almost a month ago and have been watching it everyday. I don't understand why it doesn't come in the DVD format. If you have a kid with lots of energy, this is a must have.

Catchy Tunes
This is my one year old son's favorite video. Neither one of us has gotten tired of it yet - how many of your kid videos can you say that about? Actually, even I think the tunes are quite catchy and have found myself humming them to keep my son occupied on car trips, etc.

Entertaining for kids, nostalgic for adults
I have to agree that there's no way to get all the great Ernie and Bert skits and songs into one movie, even if they made it longer than 30 minutes. This is a nice start. Maybe we'll see more collections later. Anyhow, my toddler loves this (though the talking statue in Egypt scared him a little at first, now he laughs)and we find it brings back memories of our own childhoods.

Timeless Fun
My 5 year old watched this video over and over and over (you get the point) when she was a toddler. Now my twin 1 year olds have begun watching it. They LOVE it. Ernie and Bert are their favorite Sesame Street characters and the short skits and fun songs keep them glued to the TV for the whole 25 minutes. My 5 year old was also scared of the "Egypt" section, but not until she was about 4. Up until then she loved it.

Even Babies Love It!
My 4 month old loves this tape! I needed to buy a little time one day and Play With Me Sesame wasn't on TV at the time, so I remembered that I had this tape. Anyway, I popped it in and my daughter was mesmerized. While it is only 30 minutes, that's about all the television a little baby can handle before they need something else to do. I love it because I remember all the skits and it is very funny, even for adults, while some of the newer Sesame Street DVDs are so "kiddie" that they're hard to take. Forget Baby Einstein. This good ol' standard works just as well!

Pretty Good...
most of these clips, (the theater, egypt, "That's What Friends Are For") had me laughing so hard i almost wet myself! But still, not enough songs. Not even "Rubber Duckie" or "Doin' The Pigeon". But still, if you want some of the most hilarious muppet moments ever, buy this video!

Wish it was longer!
My son loves Bert and Ernie so I had to buy this video. It's not his favorite, Kids Favorite Songs 2 is, but he does sit down for this one. I can tell he's anticipating the rubber ducky song! A little disappointed it's conducted with Gina and Big Bird looking through a book to show you little clips on Bert and Ernie but it's a good video overall. Great Sesame Memories!
I think this is a great video. Classic songs and skits are set against the backdrop of an awards ceremony, hosted by Grover, where Kermit has been awarded "Frog Of The Year". The songs include "Bein` Green", a really sweet lament from Kermit, "Carribean Amphibian" and "I Love My Elbows", plus a few more!. The only thing that stops me awarding this video 5 stars is there are not many clips with Kermit as reporter. Apart from that, classic clips that take me back to a bygone age. It brought back great memories.

Too much pigs - not enough Kermit
Because I'm such a huge fan of Kermit on Sesame Street, I'd buy this video again if I had to. That being said, it's somewhat disappointing. I was hoping to share Muppet News Flashes with my little boy, but the brief montage is just confusing for someone who's never seen them.

I do like the bits where Grover and Kermit talk to the children - nobody does this as well as they do. The little girl saying the alphabet with Kermit is priceless ("A,B,C,D, Cookie Monster!)

The back story for this video isn't bad, either - Grover is selected to honor Kermit as Frog of the Year. Frank Oz is never dull, especially as Grover. The script is pretty threadbare, but, then, it's just an excuse to show the clips.

Many of the full clips are terrific - "I Love My Elbows" is a great spoof of Irving Berlin tunes (and helped my son find his elbows, no less;) "The African Alphabet Song," a stirring new version of the alphabet with Ladysmith Black Mambazzo, a clip with Kermit and Grover the weather salesman, "Tadpole," a terrific song about growing up, "Bein Green," and the finale, "This Frog," a campy Sinatra-style song about self-esteem

If you love Kermit, go ahead and buy this one - but be prepared, It's not everything it could be.

Great Kermit, But not enough!
Argh! I Love Kermit, and I loved this movie when I picked it up out of the Library, but then it ENDED! There's no where NEAR enough Kermit stuff here. And all of his great Sesame Street News shorts are cut down into quick flash-by's that last about 2-3 seconds each and a total of only about a minute or two! The whole video is only about a half-hour long. Great for kids, but not for the older among us. A lot of other sketches were cut short, too. Great songs, sketches, but dissapointingly short

this is so great!
This is so much fun! My 9-month-old daughter only shows limited interest in the video, but I love it! The songs are awesome -- Caribbean Amphibean absolutely rocks! I can't help smiling every time I hear it. 'I love my elbows' is just too cute. And the skit about selling weather is hysterical. Treat yourself to this!

Fun for kids of all ages
This was a wonderful look back at my favorite Sesame Street character - Kermit the Frog. It shows some of the funnier clips I remember and some I didn't. My 2-1/2 year old also enjoys watching it over & over again! I definitely recommend it for SS lovers. ... Read more

A must have!
This video was my 13 year olds favorite when she was a toddler, she played it so many times I'm surprised it still plays. Now my 8 month old sits there in a daze and watches it from beginning to end. She doesn't like Baby Einstein or regular cartoons yet but would watch this since she was 6 months old. I'm planning to buy it for Christmas gifts. I think this is the best Sesame video they made, even an adult can be entertained by it. The down side is I can't seem to get the songs out of my head.

A Must Have
I bought this a long time ago for my kids, and we all loved it. My daughter who is now 19 and I have been searching everywhere for this because our's was broken. She found it on Amazon the same day I did and she called and said she wanted to get it for my younger son.

It is amusing, entertaining and you will walk around singing these songs all day! A great value!

Milly? - No, SILLY! Muppet fans - you need this one!
This video, in addition to being almost exclusively songs, contains not only great Muppet songs like "Honker Duckie Dinger Jamboree," but terrific vintage Sesame Street animation, and, for diehard fans - A FULL-LENGTH clip with Kermit and DON MUSIC (parents, pad your pianos!) There's a terrific "acapella" version of "Old MacDonald" with Honkers, Dingers, Fluffy the Elephant and a Yip-Yip. Also, it's got James Taylor singing "Jelly Man Kelly" and the celebrity-soaked "Put Down the Duckie"

I love the way the clips are introduced - a muppet appears and comments on them - there's no award show, no setup, no plot - JUST MUPPETS BEING SILLY (OK, there's one appearance by Maria and Luis in Groucho glasses!)

Fun video!!
I first saw this video while babysitting over 10 years ago and now that I have my own baby, I bought it for him. (Although, I sometimes think I bought it for myself.) The songs are fun to sing along to - the kind of songs that get stuck in your head all day. My son is 5 months old and so far Baby Mozart is the only thing that holds his attention completely but this video is a close second. VERY FUNNY FOR KIDS AND GROWNUPS ALIKE
Grover is at his best in this hysterical video. With his typical humor, he teaches us how to eat more wisely. There are alot of great inside jokes for the parents, too. The "Planet Storybook" restaurant he works on is a funny spoof of "Planet Hollywood", complete with memorabelia (from stories, of course).

My 2 1/2 year old loves this video, and has learned alot from it. I bought it for her because she's a picky eater. I think it has helped alot -- she's more willing to try new foods now (not that she always finishes them!)

I highly reccommend this video! Buy it for yourself, even if you don't have a picky eater in your house! It's that funny!

Planet Storybook Awaits!
Remeber Grover the Waiter and his chubby blue customer? This video is a great chance to visit them again - Grover has "worked his way up in the food business" to become a Planet Storybook (read Hollywood) waiter and change the unhealthy eating habits of his favorite customer. Along the way are lots of gags about storybook characters (Grover trips over Jack Be Nimble's candlestick, for instance - and the restaurant is decorated with memorobilia like Cinderella's glass slipper) Very cute.

I think I'm not cool enough to enjoy the song clips, but if you and your kids enjoy spoofs, you'll like them: "Cereal Girl," Cookie monster rapping about "Healthy Food," and bologna, cheese, and bread singing "Telly's Lunch" (Brady Bunch Theme) I liked "Blueberry Mouth," a Leon Redbone style (?) tune about blueberry picking.

I don't know that it made any difference in eating behavior with my son, but he's a pretty good eater anyway. He enjoyed it, though: particularly the singing broccholi.

Let's Eat a big hit!
My son was 21 months when his aunt bought him this video and he loves it! Like a previous reviewer, I'll admit there is fewer muscial puppet numbers than other Sesame Street favorites, but truly my son adores this video! He gets very animated when watching it. He's also learning the names of his vegatables faster, and when I'm cooking them he makes the connection, and sometimes even gets a little excited. (I wonder how long that will last) Anyway, what's the harm in singing vegatables and fruit? I have no reservations in recommending this one.

Let's Eat Has Lots of Entertainment Value
My 22 month old daughter has been faithfully watching this video for months and it is one of her favorites. It is one that I don't mind watching either.

For older kids
I bought this video for my 19-month-old son who is a Grover fan. (Note to previous reviewer - Elmo is the red one - this video is hosted by Grover.) Although he still finds it somewhat entertaining, the songs are a little few and far between and it's pretty preachy about trying lots of types of foods. Elmo and Telly share billing on this half-hour instructional videothat gently preaches the virtue of being forthright. The lesson begins asGina reads "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" to her day-care charges. Finally, teaching the values of telling the truth
The world we live in is so full of false hopes and promises that so much of the time people forget to teach their children that being truthful, our word and our honor, is the most important thing we can offer. Children need to learn that telling the truth is a good thing, and not a thing of the past. This Sesame Street video reminds us, as adults, and them as children that although it's not always the easiest road it is always the best choice.

Teaches Children that Telling the Truth is Very Important!
My 14 month old is quite a handful, except when he is watching Sesame Street. He is especially fond of this Kids Guide to Life video! The story revolves around Telly and Elmo and various muppet monster and child friends who are in Gina's Family Daycare, Sesame Street's child daycare center. All are discussing how great the circus is. Some children and monsters already went and some will be going that evening, including Gina. Telly feels very left out. Gina proceeds to read a story about the boy who cried wolf while Elmo takes a nap and dreams he is in the story and is responsible to help the muppet boy watch the sheep, with results that teach children it is very important to tell the truth for many reasons. This is illustrated by the muppet boy "crying wolf" so many times his muppet family does not believe him (and of course Elmo) when the real wolf comes. If you have the Learning to Share video, you will recognize the wolf, but he has a bit of a French flair to him, which is quite entertaining. Before the story has ended, back at the daycare center, Telly has decided to say that his Uncle Tommy (played by Dennis Quaid) is a ringmaster in the circus, in order to feel important and gain attention! Of course, this is not true, and he then has to "fess up" and tell his friends that what he said was a lie, even though he is nervous that no one will want to be his friend anymore. The musical numbers and comedy, which is also aimed at adults, is very well done. Buy this and have fun with your toddler!
Forget what the others say about Baby Bear's lisp! Kids lovehim. He is the central character in a fun story about the alphabet.If you want your child to be watching an entertaining, giggly 1/2 hour of educational video, buy this one! He or she may not be saying the alphabet by the end of first viewing, but they will recognize it! I bought this when my twins were six months old. They are still spellbound by this video, dancing and laughing, and not by many others--even after twelve months of viewing pleasure. That's not bad for the life-span of a kid's video at this price.

ONE OF THE BEST!
My 3 year old and I love this video. My sister purchased it about four years ago for my nephew. She passed it down to me once my nephew no longer needed it and believe me when I say I have become eternally grateful. You will find this video very cute as you watch Baby Bear dodge the "Nosey Posey" Goldilocks to say the Alphabet without her assistance. I found it hilarious that Baby Bear could not say the whole alphabet but used the word REGRESSED correctly in a sentence. (This video helped to make Baby Bear one of my favorite Sesame Street characters)

This video is great. Not only does it teach the Alphabet, but I also found that the songs that are sung for certain letters are the letters that my three-year old had a hard time remembering...UNTIL THIS VIDEO!!! Songs range from, "Alphabet Jungle", "Let's Sing a Song about J", and "The D Song". My son sings along to all the songs, he even gets up to do the Alphabet Exercises!!

I would recommend this video to any and every parent of a young child. Not only is it educational and fun, but it will also give us parents 40 minutes of peace!!!

Minding your Rs.
Our son has been singing the alphabets since he was 18 months, but we wanted him to become familiar with associating the names of the letters with what they look like. I loved Sesame Street as a child, so we hoped this video would be a good introduction. For his short attention span this movie does a good job at keeping him interested. We like the short skits about some of the letters--they're pretty creative and catchy. However, we were really annoyed that baby bear couldn't say his "R"s. Especially when our son, who is 3 1/2 with excellent vocabulary and word pronunciation, started saying words without the Rs after seeing the video for the first time. After some explaining he started saying his Rs again, but he still 'slips' into baby bear talk now and again. I'm disappointed that a movie that is supposed to be focussing on the alphabet can't even teach the correct pronunciation of a letter that so many children have a difficult time pronouncing anyway. I feel it's poor planning that the main character is not able to say his Rs--repeatedly and annoyingly. Although I give it an A for having creative ways of teaching/introducing letters and being able to keep a 3-year-old's attention, I give it a D for teaching incorrect letter pronunciation and the failure to accurately present what the movie is all about.

Buy Richard Scarry ABC instead
The problems with this DVD are that it doesn't effectively teach the alphabet and it is pretty annoying. A fair chunk of it is Baby Bear complaining with a whiny lisp, and Big Bird patronising him. Big Bird even runs an "alphabet support group" (like psychotherapy) which I think is a really unsuitable concept for young children. But worse than that, the letters are not taught in a systematic, complete way - only selected letters are featured prominently.
For an alphabet DVD I would recommend Richard Scarry ABC or Learning Songs instead of this one.

Not the best
I had bought "Learning About Letters" when my oldest son was about 2, which is excellent and will be out on DVD soon. This DVD is not nearly as good - not as much to help learn. The storyline is weak, and there is nbot much emphasis on the letters themselves. Most of it is about Baby Bear's frustration in trying to say the alphabet. My 2 younger boys (4 and 2) have not been very interested in this one.

Get "Learning About Letters" instead, which does the entire alphabet several times and highlights letters instead of Baby Bear trying to say the alphabet. ... Read more

Very, Very, Very Good!!! :)
This Video must have been one of the greatest videos we've had in our house! It starts off of the kids and Big Bird and Elmo pretending about firefighter's. But then Oscer the Grouch's Trash can goes on fire! What Happens? Watch the video with your kids and find out. Also thsi video teaches alot about Fire Saftey and what to do to prevent a fire. It is also non-scary and does not show any fire (the flames) up close! So don't Worry. Belive me, it's thr right choice.- Very Good movie!

Outstanding and fun!
During a recent hospital stay, I found this video in the playroom for my 18 month old son to watch. He was mesmerized! Already familiar with Elmo and Big Bird, he loved "meeting" Oscar and seeing the fire trucks. He learned to request the video by making a siren noise "whee, whee, whee", and despite our efforts to interest him in different videos, he repeatedly requested this one - every day, several times/day. That's why I bought it when we got home...he kept asking for it and we didn't have it! He is silent while it's on, except for various parts like when Big Bird can't fit down the firepole ("uh-oh"). It is not dated, despite being produced over 10 years ago, still very relevant. Great video!

Visiting the Fire HOuse
My 2 1/2 year old son watches this video every single day. It has tought him alot about the fire house adn the things that fire truck and fire people do. I believe that this is a very important thing for a child to understand. He now knows that when the fire whistle blows that means there is a fire.

Excellent for Toddlers!!!!!
The first time I put this video in for my 2 1/2 year old triplet boys. I didn't hear a word out of them until the video was over, then they all chanted "more Firehouse" they watched this video 6 times and sat very nicely on the couch the entire time. Before their afternoon nap they all notice the fire alarm in the hall by their bedroom and said "Get out fast!!!" I was amazed that they actually understood the video. It's very exciting!
Our dauhter(two years old) is very favorite it. Every day we watch a 'play- along game & song' video and my daugher along the game. DaDaDa-Da.... She favorite song is 'i heard my dog bark' and it keeps her attention for the 30 minute and along the game and sing with dance along too. My daughter loves it!
Just got this video and my 3 1/2 year old daughter absolutely loves it. While she can't exactly do all of the dance moves, she jumps around to the music. It's nice to see Zoe steppin' out! She loves Zoe and Elmo!
