5-0 out of 5 stars A good suspense film filled with twists and turns.
This movie was all that it was expected to be. It was suspenseful, edgy, and riveting. My eyes were glued to the television screen to the ending credits.

The movie is about a man who meets a woman in a bar. He helps her escape from a man, and ends up getting intimate with her on the roof of the building. She pulls away and leaves him without any phone number or address. Fortunately, they meet again at the airport.

The man begins to have an intimate affair with the woman. The affair continues, but a suggestion pulls them apart from each other. The woman suggests that he kill her husband in exchange to kill his wife. The man thinks that she is making a sick joke, and he doesn't take it seriously.

He knows she isn't joking when his wife's truck turns up in a river. The woman had to be a part of it. The woman calls him and tells him to do the same for him. He refuses to do so and tells her to get out of his life. She tries to convince him constantly, but he still disagrees. Finally, she convinces him to plot the murder of their husband.

The plot seems perfect, until it goes awry. When it was time to finally kill her husband, things didn't go as planned. In the process, he lost something that could be evidence to prove that he was the killer. Later, he finds out that he has been brought into a web of seduction, deception, and murder.

The plot thickens after this and twists and turns will lurk around every corner. Although this movie is suspenseful, it does have many scenes of sexuality, one which is strong. There is not as much nudity, but still much sexual activity.

I would recommend this movie and another that was similar to this one. The movie was called Body Heat. In it, Kathleen Turner stars as a deceitful woman who seduces a man into murdering her husband. It is more erotic, suspenseful, and taut. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars When Cousin Harry comes to visit...there's no escaping
When a distant relative and his fiancee comes to visit Richard and Kate Sullivan, getting re-aquanited turns into a life-and-death struggle for survival in this terrifying suspense thriller.

Escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane, Harry (David Keith, Firestarter) and Connie (Merg Helgenberger, China Beach) are determined to start a family - even if they have to assume the identities of a long lost cousin (william Katt, House) and his wife (Mel Harris, Thirtysomething).

With calculated deception, Harry and Connie begun to take over the Sullivan's lives-their credit cards, home, and young son Alex (Brian Bonsall, Family Ties). But the desire to be a happy family turns into a desperate motive for murder when one final obstacle stands in their way... Richard and Kate are still alive. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars swell pulp fun
I'd never heard of this movie, but it was cheap and the cover looked good so I picked up the DVD. This is such a great little movie! it should really appeal to fans of pulps, men's adventure books, and B movies. The guy playing Jake is perfect. John Hurt makes the best bad guy. I loved H.A.R.V. (Heavily Armored Raid Vehicle)!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pulp fiction brought to life on the big screen
The characters are underdeveloped and one-dimensional; the soundtrack is only a shade better than the synth-pop soup of "Day of the Dead"; the actors sound like they're reading directly off an unrevised script; and the plot is about as loose and messy as a rice krispie marshmallow treat. All these little nuances aside, "Jake Speed" has got to be, hands-down, the greatest action/adventure B-movie I've ever seen. The title character (played brilliantly by unassuming "everyman" Wayne Crawford) is a bona-fide dime novel adventurer, seeking to defeat the nefarious forces of evil with the aid of his disturbingly effete partner Des and ingenious little innovations such as "The Kid" (a super-powered automatic shotgun!) and H.A.R.V. (an armored Jeep with side-mounted machine gun turrets!). As you might expect, moral absolutism (the titanic, interminable struggle of the good heroes vs. evil villains) and cheap sensationalism abound, just as they would in any good piece of bad action-melodrama. If you're in the mood for a cute, tongue-in-cheek, low-budget iteration of early-twentieth century action serials or just one laugh after another from a ceaseless torrent of cheesy heroic one-liners, pick up your copy of "Jake Speed" today!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Action Hero Movie
One of the few action hero movies I like, the story has a great twist, sound track good , picture even better, this is a movie to have fun whilre watching, not a great story but keeps you interested, if you like Remo Williams, Buckaroo Bonazi, X-men then you'll like this movie.

3-0 out of 5 stars Worth a look if you like the off-beat.
Not my favorite, but up there somewhere, away from the bottom of the list. It is a cute little action-fantasy with a unique twist (the adventurers document and sell their adventures as fiction) and some interesting philosophy "if you want/need something badly enough, it will happen". One of those culty type movies where only those that "get it" enjoy it but worth the effort. Always remember: If you want to be entertained, see a movie. If you want to be enlightned, climb a mountain.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best "B" movie ever made.
This cute movie is a treat if you have ever read an action-adventure paperback. J.S. is a spoof of the genre but can stand on its own as an exciting adventure. It was filmed on location and has breathtaking African scenery. The film has an above average soundtrack for this type of movie. If you have a sense of humor and don't take things too seriously, you will adore this underrated gem. Good show for kids of all ages. Along with Buckaroo Banzai and Brisco County Jr., one of the most criminally neglected shows of our time. You will watch it again and again, and I can't say that about more popular movies like Indiana Jones. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The Secretary
Dull and boring suspense tale that is strapped with cliché. Mel Harris stars as a businesswoman who begins a new job and is introduced to the office secretary (Sheila Kelley) who not only desires Harris's new job, she desires her life. I have seen other movies from the small series of suspense films produced by Pierre David and was expecting much more than this lame, slow-moving feature that delivers nothing more than some fine performances. Everything is too depressing to make the film exciting, and when we think something thrilling is about to happen, we get nothing more than a change to the next scene. This film is a waste of time. Some people may fancy it, but I am one person who likes a fast-paced thriller, and not thrillers like this. ... Read more
