This two-hour CBS movie from the much-loved series Dr. Quinn,Medicine Woman depicts the long-anticipated wedding of Dr. Michaela Quinn(Jane Seymour) to mountain man Byron Sully (Joe Lando). Any show that featuresthe marriage of the two lead characters has built-in appeal, and this one is noexception. The wedding of Dr. Mike and Sully is the most exciting thing that'sever happened to the tiny frontier town of Colorado Springs. The time is 1870,as the attractive period sets and costumes attest. The charming scene in whichthe very first train--an adorable steam locomotive--pulls into the town's brand- new station will delight train buffs, and the appearance of historical figureGeneral George Custer ups the story's action quotient. The show doesn't strivefor strict accuracy, however. Its tone resembles a historical romance novel, without the bodice-ripping. Like Little House on the Prairie, Dr.Quinn glorifies the traditional American family values of a simpler, bygoneera. Yet the script also incorporates modern-day concerns. (Dr. Mike doesn'twant to change her name after marriage, and Sully won't wear a wedding ring.)One theme of the movie is timeless: what to do about meddling relatives whenplanning a wedding. All told, Dr. Quinn's worldwide following of devotedfans will find this movie full of all the romance, excitement, and drama theyhave come to expect. --Laura Mirsky ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Irresistibly Romantic
The Dr. Quinn/Medicine Woman series had, in my opinion, some of television's most truly romantic moments (in contrast to the crude sex scenes of many movies which leave nothing to the imagination and fail to touch the heart). The chemistry between the rough yet articulate and noble-hearted Sully (Joe Lando)and the idealistic, headstrong Mikaela Quinn is palpable. This particular episode marks the triumphant climax of their long, stormy courtship and is filled with warmth, tenderness and heart-pounding sensuality (in spite of the G rating). True romantics will not be able to resist! Aside from romance, this series is top quality family entertainment with excellent character-development, positive role models, and accurate historic events/issues, many of which are still relevant today (e.g., environmental protection, civil and women's rights).

5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman: For Better or Worse
I absolutely love this video. Its very interesting to me how a woman in the 1800s had to win the respect of a man to have equal rights. In doing all that she won the heart of an extremely cute guy in the process. I think that Jane Seymour and Joe Lando are the perfect actors to pursue these characters, very interesting characters. I just cannot say enough about this video and the whole series for that matter. You just have to get it. I highly recommend it for a person at any age. Preferrably a teenager and above.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Love Story in History
This was one of the best episodes of Dr.Quinn Medicine Woman ever. Jane Seymour and Joe Lando are magic together. The way they fought to have the type of wedding they wanted was very inspiring and romantic. I think that all their fans would love to see them together in another project. I continually look at all the reruns on television and I never get tired of looking at them. My goal is to one day own all the episodes, from the first one to the last one.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great continuation of the TV series
Mike and Sully continue their life and in this movie, there is lots of action! I enjoyed seeing the same people of Colorado Springs again, and hope there are more movies coming! I am sorry the series went off the air!

The actors, all, the photography, music, scenery, story, make for a lasting experience. Human nature is revealed by the writer and portrayed by Duvall, et al, showing the good and bad and sweet and mean and course and tender, often combined in a single person.

1-0 out of 5 stars YET ANOTHER DULL TV MOVIE.
"Sunstroke" is the type of mystery/suspense television movie that you have already seen hundreds of times before. It's what is referred to as "filler". Its sole purpose is to take up space on some poor channel's schedule. The way they represent the city of Scottsdale, AZ is absolutely laughable. It might as well be some sleepy little town of a few thousand the way it is presented here. The plot involves people being killed and we are supposed to be concerned as to who is doing it. Unfortunately, you are never given any reason to care about any character in this whole film. Trite, boring and predictable...stay away!

3-0 out of 5 stars engaging
I really like this type of suspence/mystery... although very slow at the beginning, fans of Jane Seymour will be held spellbound by her beauty and sexyness and the way her husband directs her; It is still an exploitation of Jane Seymour.. in that there are several nude scenes, which the viewer can only get eye strain. the characters are left for us to build up* I recommend this for the "Coloumbo" buffs.. Jane is impecable in her timing of the action...James Keach knows how to direct her and if U can sit thru the first 45 minutes.. you will be happy U did...a good mystery. editing is fine add another star. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Well Paced
Like the movie's namesakes, this film has been forgotten, but should be reviewed and maybe the price will come down before some flaky remake by the likes of George Clooney is released.

The Forgotten (1989) is a well paced and interesting story of an American SpecOps team of POWs finally being released after 17 years in captivity, following very secret negotiations between Hanoi and Washington. But there's more. It's a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, inside a riddle. The team of POWs is not scheduled to return home to bands and parades, but rather they are moved cladestinely to a castle in Germany for extensive interrogation about their previous mission to Hanoi.

The pieces of why they are incarcerated and why the mission is still being kept under wraps unfolds slowly, but believably. As deaths occur, the team members begin to realize that their only option for survival is to escape American custody and find their own answers.

The actors involved, Keith Carradine, Michael Champion, Stacy Keach, Steve Railsback, Richard Lawson, William Lucking, Tzi Ma, Don Opper, and Pepe Serna, do an excellent and believable job of highly trained SpecOps soldiers who have been POWs for many years, with the inherent problems such incarceration and torture would bring about.

As a Viet Nam veteran, I can see the feasability of this storyline. Were the team's original mission to become public, the political repercussions would put the lives of the team survivors in jeopardy - not from the Vietnamese, but from the American leaders who left them to rot in a prison camp.

An excellent movie. Viet vets will appreciate the underlying story, but it's also a political mystery in the realm of the original Manchurian Candidate that is well worth seeing by all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Action, supense
This film is typical of the usual action dramas but is a cut above most because of the acting of the main characters. Yes, the theme is a bit far-fetcher, perhaps, but it is a good romp and keeps you intersted right up to the rather ambiguous ending. Performances by Keith Carradine and Steve Railsback are excellent, but I have a prejudice as a Railsback fan. Stacy Keach is a great villain, you love to hate him. Some scenes of torture are graphic but fleeting and are necessary to background. Not for the kids. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Drama/Thriller
Jane Seymour stars as "Linda Crandall", a charming, attractive widow who seems perfect in her new fiance's life, Don McAndrews (Barry Bostwick). But her "other side" reveals a self-destructive form of split-personality disorder. Apparently she was abused and tormented as a child by her alcoholic mother. She talks to herself in the mirror but actually believes she's talking to her mother. She even cuts herself with razor blades! Don's sister-in-law, Betty (Frances Fisher) dosen't trust Linda and knows she's hiding something. Meanwhile, Linda does everything in her power to keep other women away from her man, and even brutally murders a waitress who Linda believes was coming on to him. But when Betty see's Linda's picture on a Wanted by F.B.I TV show for marrying and then murdering her husbands, she snoops through Linda's things and discovers 5 gold wedding rings! This is where things take an intense turn into madness where Linda has a severe breakdown and smashes the mirror after discovering that Betty took the rings. Betty is in for a deadly payback. The intense, and scary plot will leave you biting you nails!

4-0 out of 5 stars Oh my gawd - look at that lovely hair!
OK, it's not blockbuster material, I freely admit that. It will always have that "made for TV movie" taste about it. However, the acting's really not half bad, for what it is. The story's not bad. It's a painfully familiar pathological lier serial killer formula, but there's enough character development of the killer without going overboard, and Jane Seymour did it pretty darn well. But, and those who know me will understand what I mean, that hair is to DIE for! I'm giving this at LEAST an extra two stars just for the hair. Jane's usual style, although very pretty, is utterly eclipsed by this be-all-and-end-all of brunette Pageboy Bobs. She's always been pretty to me, as far back as my brief childhood exposure to her in Battlestar Galactica, but now I feel I can truly die happy having seen JUST HOW pretty she can be, above and beyond anything she can do with the long blonde. With the Bob and that AMAZING figure she has, and the bizarre scariness of the psychotic character she's playing, she is going into my personal log book as being the person I'd like to have poison me. If you've got to be killed by someone, well she'd be my choice. :)

3-0 out of 5 stars Jane, What were you Thinking?
It is obvious that Jane Seymour was trying something different with this movie, but it just does not work. The acting by all the cast seems rather stilted, the plot is too contrived, and the only reason I watched the whole thing was because I had faith that Jane could make it better. This is a fine movie to watch if nothing else is on TV, otherwise, stick with Jane's masterpieces.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Wedding Night Killer
This TVM directed by James Keach was clearly created as a change of pace for his wife, Jane Seymour, abandoning her signature mane of long hair and playing a serial killer. The treatment begins with material from Black Widow, establishing that Seymour has a pattern of marrying older men and then murdering them on their wedding night. However the bulk of time centres on her pursuit of Barry Bostwick. The fun of the Theresa Russell character in Black Widow was that she acted quickly - she hunted, killed then moved on without fuss. However the decision here to focus on one potential vicitim, with obstacles in the form of suspicious friends and relatives, is a fatal (no pun intended) error, since the dialogue is less than inspired. The only line I didn't anticipate is an exchange between Seymour and Bostwick. He asks if anyone has ever said no to her, and she replies "Never twice". Seymour comments that she is attracted to men who resemble her father, and though the notion of child abuse creating an Electra complexion is psychologically dubious, it becomes perversely plausible since this is the only possible reason anyone would be interested in someone as incredibly dull as Bostwick. Seymour actually has more sexual chemistry with Bostwick's son (an idea left unexplored) and since Bostwick isn't worth looking at, our focus is even more shifted to Seymour. Her severe helmet hairstyle actually succeeds in nearly making her unrecognisable, but whilst she plays self-consciousness well, she cannot convince in her attempts at being a threatening presence. Keach uses her sociopathic smiling for camp effect, as well as the titled camera angles, the clumsily staged scenes of violence, the inevitable slow-motion, and Seymour talking to herself in mirrors. Seymour's expression of neurosis is superficial, but still she retains our empathy, in spite of silly insults like her cover as a writer blown by her thinking Anna Karenina is a writer, and the subplot of the FBI tracking her being arbitrary. Keach provides one inspired touch of Seymour having a box to hold all her wedding rings, and though Frances Fisher has a rather thankless role as a rival for Bostwick (!) and therefore competition for Seymour, she does get one funny drunk scene. Although explained away by the context of serial killing, this teleplay actually demonstrates the modern notions of a small number of dates before a wedding is proposed, and sexual relations experienced as part of courting. These social observations are either a reactionary endorsement of prudence, or anarchial proof that marriage is death.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just good!!!
Yeah, Jane playing an evil character! She already showed us in East of Eden that she can do this very well, and so she does in Praying Mantis. It is great!!! ... Read more

Leslie Nielsen has certainly given us some funny movies, look at the Naked Gun series..and his foray into comedy after years of serious roles certainly endeared him to those of us who like our comedy a little corny and offbeat. However, as years have gone by, Nielsen has merely called in performances in some really impotent comedies, this one included. Blame director James Keach for some of it; his pacing is so slow, it can't come anywhere near the airplane and naked gun movies. While I have admired Lochlyn Munro's performances in some recent films (the Scary Movie ripoffs, Blacktop), he doesn't possess the comic verve necessary to carry the weight of this movie. William Forsythe does well with his sheriff role, but Vanessa Angel (from "Sabertooth") continues to perform like a high school thespian. The laughs are there, but they are far and few between.
