5-0 out of 5 stars I Hope Touched by an Angel Gets Complete Season DVD Boxsets!
Touched by an Angel was one of my Dad's favorite TV shows and it became one of my favorites too. I have a lot of favorite episodes and The 151st Psalm is one of my favorites, it is a sad but touching episode about a boy who is dying and how he wants to help his mother finish a song she was writing but never finished. The mother is played by Wynnona who I think did a great job and so did the actors who played the boy and his friend. This show was very popular and I don't understand why CBS cancelled it in order to air stupid reality shows and I wish they would start making new episodes or even TV movies and I really want to see Touched by an Angel put on DVD in complete season boxsets!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I watched this episode first on TV, then I went out and bought the tape!! It was the first TV show that made me cry, but it the tears were happy tears. The acting in this episode was great. The message of love, acceptance, hope and, of course, that God loves us (more specifically you and me) went straight to my heart.

If you never buy any other Touched By An Angel videos or if you never watch another episode, make sure you get this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Finally Coming Out on DVD!
This is an update to my last review. The Touched By an Angel episodes on this tape are good but there is some great news! The First season of Touched by an Angel is being released on DVD on August 31, 2004. FYI: John Dye who played Andrew wasn't in the first season. I think he joined the show sometime during the second season and the angel in the first season who helped Tess and Monica was named Adam and played by Charles Rocket.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wanted! "Touched By An Angel" DVD boxed set
I loved "Touched By An Angel" from the beginning. I had recorded episodes sent to me while stationed in Haiti with the Army in 1996. There was discussion at the time about cancelling the show. Public outcry helped to save the show. Had that not happened, there wouldn't have been a "151st Psalm" episode (the 100th episode) that's been mentioned in so many of the previous reviews. The audience is here, the demand is here, only the supply is missing. Release this series on DVD. You won't be sorry!

4-0 out of 5 stars These episodes need to be released on DVD.
I enjoyed watching 'Touched By Angel' when it was on TV. I would like to see these episodes released on DVD. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Quite As Good As Cocoon
TOUGH GUYS is a movie about two aging train robbers who are released from prison after serving long terms. They have trouble adjusting to life on the outside and decide to once again try to rob a train. Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas have the starring roles as Harry Doyle and Archie Long. The supporting cast includes Charles Durning, Alexis Smith, Dana Carvey, Eli Wallach and Darlanne Fluegel.

The plot is predictable and unimaginative. The acting, however, is strong in spite of the weak material and the film is very enjoyable in spots.

3-0 out of 5 stars Watch it if it comes on TNT.
This movie is hilarious because it is now 2004. I watched it the other day and really enjoyed. However, I would never buy it. If it comes on TV in the next ten years, I'll be content. I will say that the scene in the ice cream store is incredibly funny. That kid has some great lines.

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF A KIND MOVIE
This movie is very unique. It is the only movie that I can think of that sticks two of the greats from the golden age of film into a modern day comedy. Just to sit and watch these two act in this type of genre is terrific. What happened to this style of acting?
All and all a brilliant comedy.
Would love to see a DvD release.

4-0 out of 5 stars A triumph for the "geriatric set"
A cast of old pros (Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Alexis Smith, Charles Durning, and a flat-out hilarious Eli Wallach) shine in a comic tale of nonconformity and criminal "readjustment".

As recently released cons trying to adjust to freedom, Lancaster and Douglas are in fine form. One really has compassion for all the amusing stumbling blocks that they, like many "elders", must endure. Smith, as the love interest of Lancaster, displays a beauty and elegance that can only be acquired by age. She possesses a stunning smile and gaze. Durning, as the police detective that captured the duo thirty years earlier, is relentless in his quest to prove that these "old dogs" haven't changed their spots.

Wallach, as the other reviewer has stated, is memorable as a bespeckled hit man with an agenda.

This may not rank along with other Lancaster-Douglas pairings like "Seven Days in May" or "The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, but it does offer a last opportunity to see "originals" display their craft.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reason Enuff to Stay on The Straight and Narrow....
...the way these two old cons are treated by the rest of society when they get out is criminal. Folks barking orders at you like you can't understand, the nursing home becomes more prison like than prison itself. And the new styles and fashion? Way too much lame (La-may). It's no wonder a pair of ol' tommygun criminals don't mind risking it all to take the train that they heisted years back again. After the thrill of seeing this pair of classic con actors reunited then the story is maintained by their delightful chemistry, the supporting cast--Eli Wallach, Dana Carvey and Charles Durning--and the fact that you start rooting for these thugs because you think, 'Hey, I ain't exactly a teenager, anymore, and what they're saying and doing makes a lot of sense.' It is an enjoyable flick in the vein of Grumpy Old Men. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST INSPIRATIONAL TELEVISION SHOW OF ALLTIME!!!!
FIRST THERE WAS "LASSIE" THAT TOUCHED THE HEART WITH THE SIMPLE MORALS OF THE LORD, AND EXAMPLES OF HIS GREAT LOVE AND FAITH!!!! THEN CAME "WALTON'S MOUNTAIN" WHICH TOUCHED THE MORE DEEPER WITH SCRIPTURE AND LESSONS OF THE LORD'S FAITH AND LOVE, EVEN THROUGH TIMES OF HARDSHIP AND TRAGEDY, AND NOW AT LONG LAST THE GREATEST OF THESE TELEVISION SHOWS OF DEEP INSPIRATION, UNDYING LOVE, EMOTION, AND GREAT FAITH. THE CONTINUING TALES THAT TELLS US OF THE COURAGE AND STRENGTH OF "ANGELS" SENT HERE TO GUIDE US, COMFORT US, ENSURE US OF THE LORD'S GREAT LOVE FOR US, AND HIS ENDEARING CARE AS WELL FOR US ALL!!! TALES TOLD IN A TODAY'S WORLD, TORN BY WAR, HATRED, BITTER CONFLICTS, AND INSURMOUNTABLE ODDS THROUGH FLASHBACKS OF YESTERYEARS OF BYGONE TIMES WITH EVENTS AND PEOPLE OF GREAT COURAGE, THROUGH GREAT HARDSHIP AND SUFFERING. THIS SHOW HAS TOUCHED THE VERY GAMBIT OF HEAVEN AND HELL, WITHOUT GROTESQUE HORROR, OR BLOODSHED, BUT IN TURN TELLS IN ELABORATE HOUR-LONG TALES OF VARIOUS STORIES OF BEAUTY AND HUMAN CONFRONTATION SUCH AS TO RISE AND TOUCH THE VERY CHRISTIAN FAITH THAT LIES DEEP WITHIN US ALL; AND FILLS US WITH A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THOSE MORALS ARE AND HOW WE AS EVERYDAY PEOPLE CAN LEARN OURSELVES TO CONFRONT THEM, IF THEY SHOULD ARISE IN OUR OWN LIVES. EACH EPISODE HAS LEFT ME IN TEARS, AND BROUGHT ME CLOSER TO THE LORD IN SO MANY BEAUTIFUL AND THOUGHTFUL WAYS, I'M SO BLESSED FOR HAVING SEEN THIS SHOW!!!!
I ALWAYS WILL!!!! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST TELEVISION SHOW EVER!
For nine years America was "Touched by an Angel" on prime-time. When the show was cancelled last year, TV became a wasteland. Simply put, this is the greatest television program ever because of the genuis of Martha Williamson and one of the greatest ensemble casts ever to grace the TV screen.

These two episodes will show you why. I can't wait for the season by season DVD boxed sets to come out and I don't understand what Paramount is waiting for!! They will make a mint off this series.

This is one series that will rank with the classic dramas of television like "The Waltons", and "Little House".

Buy this video if you haven't yet. If you have seen the show and watched it faithfully for 9 years, the way I did, then no further explanation is needed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars True 80's cheese.!
Story: Troup Beverly has once aginst lost its troup leader because they can't handle the little rich snobs. And then it is taken over by Phyllis Nephler, a high maintenance high class soon-to-be Beverly Hills Divorcee. She's doing it for her daughter at first, but soon wants to help all the girls beat the odds(The Red feathers in particular) and show the rest of the wilderness girls what they can do. Watch the movie to find out the rest.!

Why its so awesome: Its hilarious, its cheezy, its got some groovy tunes, some touching scenes, and Shelly Long... hehe What else more can you ask for? If you're looking for something to brighten your spirits then "Troup Beverly Hills" is EXACTLY what you're looking for, it the "Perfect" pick-me-up.

*enjoy*

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!
This movie absolutely rocks! Ive watched it soooo many times and i cant help acting it out everytime i watch it, since I know it word for word :) My friends and i watch it every time we have a sleepover! Its the best movie for people of all ages since it relates on all levels. You will laugh hysterically everytime you see it, and wont be able to stop quoting lines from it! TROOP BEVERLY HILLS ROCKS! AND IF YOU DONT LIKE IT.. THEN... "EXCUUUUSE ME OFFICA!" (sorry i had to) Just watch the movie and you'll see what i mean!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beverly Hills, what a thrill!
Although I did not get to see this movie until I was about 13 (I'm 18 now), I have to say that this is an absolutely hilarious movie! How can you not love seeing these spoiled Beverly Hills girls doing what they consider "roughing it" by sleeping at the Beverly Hills hotel, or making a dress-rack backpack for the craft fair? In the end though, they show that money may buy you the world, but it's true spirit that wins the race. A funny movie, with an excellent message. Buy it, watch it, you won't be disappointed!

4-0 out of 5 stars And it rains there...
Stereotypical yes. But anyone who has actually been through the Girl Scout experience will appreciate this movie for what it is. Anyway the best, if only, movie about girl-scouting ever made. I was nine and when it was released, and a sleep-over fave definitely. I was rather disappointed w. my sister's troop's "I wish our leader was like that" but this movie really hits the nail on the head with Velma. Do the Freddie!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best movies of all time!
I love this movie! I was excited to see it on DVD finally. I also enjoyed the extra scenes on the DVD. It doesn't bother me that it is not widescreen. This is a classic movie that needs to be preserved. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BLESSED BE THE CHILDEN OF GOD!!!!
"TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL" HAS TOUCHED MY HEART, AND FILLED MY LIFE WITH SO MUCH JOY AND EMOTION, THAT IN SOME WAYS IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE AND GIVEN ME A DEEPER AND GREATER UNDERSTANDING INTO A DIVINE CHRISTIAN LOVE AND FAITH I ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT!!!! THE "NETHERLANDS" EPISODE WAS THE BEST EPISODE OF THIS VIDEO; FOR IT WAS A PREMIERE EPISODE FEAUTURING VALERIE BERTENELLI AS A NEW ANGEL "GLORIA" WHO HAD TO LEARN WHAT IT WAS TO BE A REAL ANGEL, AND MONICA WHO HAD TO LEARN TO BE ANGEL ONCE MORE BEING TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL, PLAYED FIENDISHLY BY MANDY PANIKIN, AFTER FACING A HORRIFIC TRAGEDY.
OF THE MANY MORALS MONICA HAD TO LEARN, THIS WAS ONE OF HER GREATEST TESTS OF COURAGE SHE HAD TO FACE ALONE!!!! LIKE THE LORD BEING TEMPTED IN THE DESERT BY THE DEVIL, AS IT IS WRITTEN IN THE GOSPELS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT, SO MONICA TO HAD TO SUFFER A SIMULAR ORDEAL. A CHALLENGE AND A TEST OF SPIRIT THAT WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART!!!! THE GREATEST INSPIRATION TELEVISION OF ALLTIME!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Christmas Miracle
I have seen all of the "Touched by an Angel" episodes and enjoy them all! Right now one of my favorite is "Christmas Miracle". I like the songs and the singing and the story line is always inspirational.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Star Video You Can't Miss!!!
All I can say after watching this video is WoW!!!
This would have to show Touched By an Angel at its finest! The acting is superb in both epsidoes, and the storyline, as always holds a feel-good and important message, and I would reccommend seeing this for any Touched fans, and even those who aren't!

This 2 episode tape features the excellent episodes, 'The Face of God' and 'Netherlands'. The first episode, 'The Face of God' deals with the moral issues of genetics, whilst the second episode, 'Netherlands' deals with the tough issue of terrorism. Both issues are dealt with extremely well in these episodes, and make this video a MUST SEE.

As always, the Touched by an Angel cast, crew and writers have provided inspirational and uplifting episodes. Well acted all round, with great storylines, and an even greater message and meaning, there is something for everyone to get out of these 2 amazing episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Believe it or not, this was pre-September 11th!
I have only seen "The Netherlands" on television once, so I can only review this portion. Personally, I think EVERY American, every person of faith, and every person with any moral fiber whatsoever needs to see this absolutely stunning piece of film. It was shocking to me to discover that this was actually filmed and aired before September 11th! When you get to the scene where the angels recognize other angels - sorry, can't give you any further details without ruining it for you - you will know exactly what I mean. At this price, you cannot afford to miss this! Just please trust a fellow Christian and patriotic American who happens to be a stranger to you at this point: you NEED to see "The Netherlands." Though not nearly as dramatically, it, like September 11th, will leave you humbled and changed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Marvelous detective movie!
Fans of Sara Paretsky's heroine, V.I. Warshawski will enjoy the clever one-liners tossed off so well by Kathleen Turner. The character's wise-girl bravura is sometimes at odds with Turner's soft beauty, but the actor does some very convincing martial arts moves not usually associated with her past performances. It's fascinating to watch how fast and furious Ms. Turner can be in these scenes!

The plot features a 13 old kid whose father is murdered. Warshawski reluctantly allows the girl to accompany her on the investigation, but be rest assured that the young actress playing the daughter wins over both you and Warshwaski without resorting to being cutesy or phony.

Readers of the detective series will spot most of the recurring characters in the books, most notably Lottie and Murray. There is the disappointing exception of Mr. Contreras, whose paternal advice and counsel is handled instead by Charles Durning's police investigator character.

I liked the movie and highly recommend it, mostly for Turner's shining screen presence. She may not be the most obvious choice for portraying V.I., but she keeps you enthralled with her great sense of humor and tough woman tenacity. I would have loved to see this movie turned into a series. After the movie ended, I wanted to see more!

The video quality is very good and was taken from an outstanding print, so you get your money's worth with the DVD version.

3-0 out of 5 stars What's not to like?
This likeable, harmless Kathleen Turner vehicle is one of those films that most "name" critics have viciously attacked for no logical reasons (critics seem to be as frequently susceptible amongst themselves to "herd mentality" as the rest of us po' ignorant movin' pitcher watchin' folk). Turner's "V.I. Warshawski" is a very credible "tough broad" character, treading the fine line between sexiness and surliness with skill and style. Granted, the predictable, standard-issue plot of this detective thriller is a minus, but the appealing cast and Turner's charisma carry the day. If you are a fan of the Warshawski books (or J.A. Jance and Sue Grafton's female detective stories)you'll find the mood and atmosphere of the film quite true to the genre. If your name is Leonard Maltin, take a pill and just relax.

5-0 out of 5 stars Leonard Maltin strikes out.
I have no idea what movie Maltin saw, but I enjoyed every moment of this film. I am a Turner fan, and a V.I. fan but do not enjoy truely bad movies. This was not a truely bad movie or a "boo-boo". It was funny and presented the characters well. Read the books, Maltin. I wish they had continued the series, I would buy them all.

4-0 out of 5 stars v.i. greatly portrayed byTurner!
THIS IS ONE OF THOSE MOVIES THAT WITH A LITTLE HELP COULD OFFER LOTS OF SEQUELS OR TURNED TO A SUCCESSFUL SERIES WITH KATHLEEN.KATHLEEN IF YOU READ THIS YOU DID A GREAT JOB!ANOTHER GOOD THING ABOUT THIS MOVIE IS THAT A WOMAN IS ON THE MAIN ROLE AND SHE CAN BE HOT AND TOUGH ALL IN ONE PERSON.HIGLY RECOMMENDED TO THOSE WHO LOVE KATHLEEN AND BELIEVE IN WOMAN'S POWER AND SUPERIORITY!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great mystery, with delicious one-liners and a great cast.
I LOVE this movie. I can't say that enough. I fell in love with this movie first time I saw it. The soundtrack was great, the cast was great, everything about this movie was just great!

Nerds without computers may seem a contradiction in terms, but life was simpler back in 1984 and the geeks seemed to get along fine with just a slide rule and a plastic pocket protector. A variation on the fraternity-farce plot of Animal House, the picture celebrates the triumphs of a gang of geeks, led by Robert Carradine and a pre-E.R. Anthony Edwards, as they get back at a rival frat house full of jocks and preppies. Although the brains-over-brawn theme ought to be sure-fire, the movie gets by mostly on charm; there are very few explosively funny sequences. The supporting cast includes some surprising familiar faces, notably James Cromwell (Babe, L.A. Confidential) as Carradine's look-alike dad, pants hoisted proudly to his armpits. The director, Jeff Kanew (Gotcha!), went on to the 1991 private-eye belly flop V.I. Warshawski and has not been heard from since. --David Chute ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A truely funny lighthearted movie
I really laughed when I first saw this movie! Robert Carradine and Anthony Edwards obviously had a great time filming this movie and it shows. The 2 characters portrays two sympathetic nerds who are viciously persecuted by upscale Fraternity guys at Atom college.

From the beginning to the last scene where the nerds finally get their revenge (along with the rival Fraternity they help found Lambda Lambda Lambda), this is a movie that has bawdy humor that is guilty fun, as well as beautiful babes that you cant help but take a nice look at when they are in the buff.

This is a movie that is not to be taken seriously and is recommended to older teenagers and adults who are teenagers at heart (like myself)!

5-0 out of 5 stars Laughs with a message of tolerance

It may not have had a lot of critical or box office success, but Revenge of the Nerds is a classic! It's about the guys the jocks around the world love to torment - nerds. In this movie, the jocks in the Alpha Betas rule Atoms college by way of the Greek council and make the nerds lives hell. But, the nerds use their brains (along with some juvenille pranks) to get back at the Alpha Betas, win the Greek games and take control of the council. At the end, some of the jocks realize they are not so different from the nerds and feel left out at times as well.

The characters are stereotypical college students - the popular quarterback, his cheerleader girlfriend, the party animal and tons of geeks - but you know them that's what makes it so funny. While none of the sequels are as good, this movie has some big laughs and you can watch it again and again.

2-0 out of 5 stars If you like ANimal House, you'll like this
This is SO NOT my type of movie. In fact, I hate this kind of thing. But, most people love it. So, who am I to complain about the farceical, unrealistic, vehicle for sex flick this is? Full of slapstick and inneuendo, this film has devoted followers and a place in cult archives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely Funny
Along with Animal House, this is one of the best films of its genre! Many hilarious scenes including their fraternity party and the school olympics. Robert Caradine is the ultimate nerd! The follow-up movie is hilarious too!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nerds Win! Nerds Win! Nerds Win!
"Revenge of the Nerds" is the quintessential outsiders beating the popular types movie. In it we meet Gilbert Lowell (Anthony Edwards), Louis Skolnick (Robert Carradine), Poindexter (Timothy Busfield), Booger (Curtis Armstrong), and many more of the nerds attending Adams College.

At Adams the nerds expect to finally be treated with the respect they deserve for the intelligence that they have. The last thing that they expect college to be like is high school. Unfortunately for them that is exactly what it is like. At Adams they run into members of the jock fraternity Alpha Beta who ridicule the nerds every chance they get.

The nerds form their own fraternity (Lambda Lambda Lambda) for protection. The Tri-Lams accept the nerds into their association sight unseen. This is important because Lambda Lambda Lambda is an all-black fraternity and only one of the nerds is an African-American.

What ensues after the nerds get their fraternity is one of the funniest things ever put on film. They take on the Alpha Betas at the annual Greek Games competition that pits the various fraternities against each other in sophomoric events like riding a tricycle around a mini-race-course while drinking a beer after each lap.

There are of course the pathos-filled moments in the film when the nerds plead for equal treatment after the jocks threaten to steal the tournament from them and to basically pound them into the ground. However, "Revenge of the Nerds" is funny enough to overcome these contrived moments, which really don't seem all that bad considering the weepiest speeches are given by such a sterling actor as Anthony Edwards. ... I loved this episode so much when I saw it on tv recently, that I started looking for it on video or dvd to buy! Before he started losing his hair (which gave his baby face the maturity it needed for him to be taken seriously as a doctor on E.R.), Anthony Edwards was the quintessential juvenile lead, college division. That is what he plays here: a college kid who is campus champ at an assassination game called Gotcha (that uses fake guns). Then he goes on a summer vacation behind the Iron Curtain (before it came tumbling down) and falls for a female operative (Linda Fiorentino), who not only uses him as an unsuspecting courier for spy stuff but makes him a fall guy, as well. When he finally extricates himself from the trouble, the trouble follows him back to campus. Silly and far-fetched, though Edwards has that wounded-puppy look down perfectly. --Marshall Fine ... I enjoyed this movie for two reasons. One, I was stationed in West Berlin during the final years of the Cold War and had personal involvement with Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall, and watching Mig aircraft flying overhead. Number two, we watched them film some scenes with Anthony Edwards and Linda Fiorentino (hubba hubba!) on Mehringdamm right below the windows to our barracks rooms! It was really cool watching the movie at the Air Force theater across the street and recognizing scenes where they filmed. This is a fun movie, and it makes me wax nostalgic for the "good ol' days" when we knew who the enemy really was...

5-0 out of 5 stars GOTCHA!!!
Gotcha stars Anthony Edward of ER and Jsu Garcia of Wildcats and Nightmare of Elm Street as two high school kids who go to Europe for vacation.

Garcia, thinking he's a player, leaves Edwards to himself where he meets with up Sasha, played by Linda Forientino, who comes off as a very mysterious person with an awsome accent who takes interest in virgins.

she seduces and uses Johnathan (anthony edwards) into going with her to the commuinst East Berlin for some business that she has to tend to. Edwards, being blinded by love, doesn't know what's going on, but soon will, in a hard way.

Gotcha is an awsome movie with rich cinemetography as the film was shot in Europe.

excellent movie!! i recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars YAY!!
What a flashback! My cousin and I watched this movie the summer I was 13, and we spent the rest of that month constantly quoting the scene from the restaurant (avec de l'eau!) and laughing hysterically! This is just a great fun movie, and I am so happy to see it's finally on DVD. I'll be sending it to that cousin for his birthday and I know he'll love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just a fun movie!
It's no James Bond, but it's no Top Secret either. Gotcha has some real humor, but not at the expense of a storyline or real suspense either. It's a fun movie to get caught up in and while it's not a classic mystery or spy thriller, there is a decent amount of guess work you have to do to figure it out.

If you enjoy an entertaining film with a bit of wit and some nostalgia from the Cold War days, you'll like this movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous scenery, and Paris ain't bad, either.
Ronald Reagan was making "Evil Empire" speeches, the Berlin Wall was up, and Anthony Edwards had hair when he made this Cold War spoof about a naive American college student visiting Europe for the first time, who loses his virginity to an older film student -- or is she a spy? There are some clever plot twists, some nice shots of Paris, Berlin, and the UCLA campus, and a tiny bit of buddy-bonding.

But for guys, the main reason to rent or buy this movie is the beefcake: Both Anthony Edwards and Jsu Garcia (his sleazoid roommate) display astonishingly gorgeous physiques. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre Action Film
The film is entertaining, but stars John Schneider and Kirk Douglas have both appeared in better films of the action genre. The story meanders along, although it does reach a satisfying and exciting climax, with the good and bad characters getting their just deserts. The highlight of the film is probably the shower scene, in which an exhausted Schneider receives the lathering of his life. Definitely a treat for the ladies!

5-0 out of 5 stars Deeply Moving
It is always easy to scoff at, or dismiss, something with an uplifting message of faith, especially if it is television. But it is not always wise, and watching this feature length edition of "Touched by an Angel" will show you why. Not having to compress this into its normal one hour slot, Martha Williamson wrote a subtle and emotional film that has substance and depth.

Bai Ling gives a deeply moving performance as Chinese dissident Jean Chang. Once a young girl with a dream of democracy for her country, she and her husband were two of the students that fateful day when the Chinese government used bullets against protesters. They were separated when she left her young daughter, named after the Statue of Liberty, to the care of their friend George (Russell Wong), never to see either again after the crackdown. She believes her husband to be dead, and her daughter, Liberty Moon, lost or in the care of strangers she may never find.

Roma Downey gives an understated performance that complements Bai Ling nicely. Monica and Jean become close as Jean returns to China with Monica and her boss, Edward Tanner (Adrian Pasdar), to translate for a business deal. But going back to her home, where her spirit once flew, will bring about a transformation where she will once again be fearless in speaking out in her search for her daughter Liberty, and liberty itself.

Edward begins to care deeply for Jean and has the opportunity to become involved in more than just his business, but only if he can recognize, and sieze the moment before it is too late. Andrew (John Dye) is along on this assignment as well.

An emotional ending that manages to both move us deeply and still give hope make this by far thee shining moment for "Touched by an Angel." Television or not, there is power here, and many deeply felt scenes. One of the most moving takes place when Monica shields Jean from a beating meant to kill her and takes the blows herself, though it is unseen by her attackers.

I can not reveal more, but if you enjoy this type of wholesome and substantive entertainment with a message, or just enjoy being moved unexpectedly by something you may have dismissed, you'll definitely will want to see "The Spirit of Liberty Moon."

5-0 out of 5 stars The most inspiring film or teleplay I've ever experienced.
The cast, writers, and crew of Touched By An Angel, are to be commended for transposing a powerful screenplay into a realistic television drama. The actors and storyline transport the audience into a world where Faith and values mean more than money and power.

We all face issues that force us make choices that test our Faith and values. Hopefully, we learn from our mistakes and grow in Wisdom. The story promotes values that transcend religion ... they are the Truth that all men need to know in order to find Peace and Happiness while struggling along life's journey.

"What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul ... "

Such Biblically-based concepts are so artfully woven into the script and represent a penetrating modernization of not necessarily the language but the impact of hearing the Gospel message.

Tied so powerfully to Richard Gere's film, Red Corner, the issue of basic human rights is developed by the episode beyond Chinese policies forcing each of us to look and decide how what we do affects the people around us.

Bai Ling's performance was powerfully moving in both, Red Corner, and in, Spirit of Liberty Moon. I can only congratulate her for the idea of Spirit of Liberty Moon, and CBS and the producers of Touched By An Angel for investing in such high-quality programming. Our country and our people can only benefit from such uplifting and dramatically entertaining viewing experiences.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touched By an Angel: The Spirit of Liberty Moon
I loved this episode! I collect all the videos of this series and watched them with my children on Sundays. We just watched The Spirit of Liberty Moon today and I still cry! very moving! I can honestly say there is'nt to many episodes I don't like.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't give up on China
I came away from watching Spirit... with a renewed hope for China. While the program is not one that ends happily for everyone, it does leave me hopeful. Change is unsettling and change in China has been tremendous and not always positive for everyone. There are important points to be learned from this program about life in China, as lived by it's citizens that it is important to consider. The sense of inevitability once Jean enters the legal system is chilling and the helplessness of all concerned to change the outcome is especially moving. At the conclusion, you can look back and see the impact that Jean has had on the people she has come in contact with; her boss in America, his slightly frantic partner who also has felt the touch of Jean, and her former partner in freedom in China who while outwardly conforming, is still harboring thoughts of improving China from within. All of them have been influenced by her. I found this program to be one of hope for China, both now and over the long haul. And it is the long haul that builds faith I think. TBAA has taken a difficult subject, shown it objectively and left us with the feeling that there is more to China than the pronouncements of those in power. This has been a hard review to write because I could see the conflict within China today yet remember the days of the Cultural Revolution and the turmoil that resulted. So to a degree I think China has progessed, but as the Spirit of Liberty Moon shows, it is an evolving progress that is far from complete. Thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Freedom has a price.
There are many true story's about moral courage around the world of which this is one. For those individuals against our system of government & justice need only view how a totalitarian government works, as this video provides a good example. You will find that generally people are sincere but governments never are. Bai Ling is silent no longer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Christmas Miracle
This episode truly serves as an inspiration to all who are looking for peace, joy, and love in any situation today!

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful Christmas themed show for TBaA!
This is a touching show about how the angels bring 2 brothers closer in understanding each other and how much they really mean to each other. This happens due to a series of events. Tess and Monica at their best! This is a tape I will watch anytime of the year. Makes you stop and think of your relationships with family members and how sometimes we dont communicate well enough to let them know how we feel. This tape will bring you entertainment and a lesson on how to accept someone even tho they are different and not make them feel like a burden.

5-0 out of 5 stars Christmastime miracles still occur
A beautiful, touching video from one of the most positively inspirational and comforting shows to date. The story of Serena (a young girl with a fatal heart condition) and Joey (a mentally disabled teenager with a paralyzing fear of the dark)'s passionate friendship fills our heart with indescribable emotion, and our angels turn in particularly beautiful performances, especially Roma Downey (Monica). Heartwrenching, uplifting, miraculous with a constant feeling of underlying truth and comfort; a story of conquering obstacles and relief of fears.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touching
When Serina, a little girl, is threatened with heart problems, her friend Joey, who is kind of strange, is afraid that when she dies, there will be no one to love him. He has an older brother, played by Randy Travis, who doesn't seem to particularly want anything to do with him. Monica and Tess step in to help, and end up in a dramatic climax. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll just say I've never seen Monica look more angelic. Later on, a con man comes to town and cashes in on the "Miracle," as the town's calling it (Monica's fantastic appearance). It turns out that Wyane (Travis) is somehow connected to this man's past. Joey belives that this man can heal him and a crack baby that he found in the manger of the church's Christmas Scene. The ending is excellent, and the movie well worth watching. The only drawback for me is that our favorite Death Angel, Andrew, was not asked to make an apperance (it's another angel named Adam). But I still love the movie, and reccomend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, a must see every year at Christmas or anytime.

Angel Monica may have that musical Irish lilt to her speaking voice, but her singing voice is anything but heavenly. So when the voice she's always longed to sing praises to God with turns out to belong to an ungrateful teenager in "Voice of an Angel," Monica's resentment rages out of control. She abandons her assignment only to end up in a karaoke bar and then handcuffs. In a bit of stunt casting, the sullen, gum-snapping girl is played by the operatic star Charlotte Church and the boys of 'N Sync appear in cameo roles as street singers. The second episode, "Legacy," follows a more solemn track with an alum-made-good (Jere Burns) who bullies his son into attending his alma mater and joining the same fraternity. When a pledging rite goes awry, one of the son's roommates falls into a coma and the fraternity president demands cooperation in a cover-up. This thought-provoking episode examines the ethical responsibilities of a bystander. Its focus on young people enhances its value as a starting-off point for discussions on the subject with tweens or young teens. However, the roommate's eventual death may make the episode too strong for the very young. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Voice Of An Angel/Legacy
I would definitely recommend these tapes to anyone with teenagers in the house. I'm 16 myself, and I loved these episodes. They reach to the younger generation, like myself, out there. A definite must have!

2-0 out of 5 stars A Suedo Angel
I must agree with the many here who conclude that Charlotte Church cannot act. Her inclusion here seems more a charity case or an accomodation to someone in the industry. However, I will disagree with those who feel her inclusion in this program is justified based on her "angelic" conduct. Based on my many years of following her, nothing could be further from the truth...

Roma Downey saves this show with some brilliant individual acting including being intoxicated. This bit of brilliance will give this episode a saving ** rating, in spite of Charlotte.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Show.....needs to be on DVD!!
I regularly watch this program and find that it always has an important message and is always uplifting. The only problem right now is that it is not on DVD. This would be a great collectable DVD...hopefully they will release it by season!!

4-0 out of 5 stars I considered factors other than acting
As a parent searching for role models for my young children, I met Charlotte Church in many other forms before ever seeing this episode. I have seen Charlotte in concert. I have read her articles and interviews, I have participated in her numerous charities. charlotte has donated entire fortunes to good causes such as a childrens hospital in Whales. Charlotte is a charming and caring young lady with a sense of community, and quite a bit of talent. I also watched this episode of Touched By An Angel. What I saw was a role model for our young people (Charlotte Church, the opposite of Spears), take part in a program that had a real meaning. I know Charlotte can't act well. No one can act in the beginning. I'm sure that will change someday. But I was proud that this young teenager from Whales did her best, and played part in transmitting a message about the gifts we all receive, and take for granted. Look beyond the acting, to the message from a young role model, as well as the message of the story itself. The message that only Touched by and Angel can send. I don't watch the show for it's great acting achievements. I watch because it's one of the few TV shows that has something real to say, and a touching message to send. I welcome her back anytime.

1-0 out of 5 stars Leave This Show to the Angels
Charlotte Church may have a voice like an angel, but she certainly doesn't act like one. If fact, she certainly can't act at all. It probably sounded like a clever match, having the girl with "The Voice of an Angel" play a part on the "Touched by an Angel" TV show. However, Charlotte Church comes across like someone who just walked in off of the street and is reading lines from a board. I was actually more impressed by the group N'Sync than with Charlotte. This episode is O.K. but certainly not good enough to warrant buying a video of it. Roma Downey does a real good job here. Charlotte Church does sing a bit here, but not enough to make it worth purchasing this video. My recommendation is that they should leave acting to actors and singing to singers. The regular angels do fine in this series, but Charlotte Church was simply not made to act. ... Read more

Religious strife in Northern Ireland and injustice in the Sudan arethe dilemmas to be tackled by the angels in this double-episode tape. First,in "Life Before Death" (episode 616), the Irish-born Monica (Roma Downey)goes to Belfast to collect a mixed group of teens to bring them to theUnited States to build a home together and, hopefully, a bridge ofcommunication and understanding between the two groups. The effort gets offto a rocky start except for a budding romance between a Catholic boy and a"Prod" girl. In "Such a Time as This" (episode 603), Lindsay Crouse plays asenator who ran for all the right reasons, but now finds herself politicallycompromised during a reelection bid. When her young son and idealistichusband (Joe Spano) get caught up in the angels' mission to bring attentionto Sudanese slaves in Africa, the senator finds herself torn between doingthe right thing and angering her political backers, thus jeopardizing hercareer. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great video, especially loved
"Life Before Death" is my favourite episode of Touched by an Angel. Though I'm not Irish, I love almost everything that IS Irish. This episode really spoke to me because of the sufferening and pain caused by so much war. Tommy was my favourite character. My heart broke for him when Andrew revealed at the begining that he had been there to take both of Tommy's parents. I loved the scene with Tommy and Gavin when Gavin chastised Tommy and told him he should be at the meeting instead of reading poetry.

It was great watching the teenagers begin to trust each other and work together. The strife and pain cause by so many years of war between the Protestants and the Catholics in Ireland really came though in this episode as Tommy and Rose and the other children struggled to overcome years of hatred and violence. As Monica pointed out, the war is about more than religion - it's about economics and culture, too.

My favourite scene was at the end when the kids all sang "Let There be Peace on Earth". What a beautiful song. This episode shows that peace really can come to Ireland if the youth are willing to give it a chance, if the youth can see a world beyond the violence so many of them live with.

I'm not as familiar with "Such a time as This" but it was another episode that really struck me because of the power behind what it was saying and the message it held. So often we do not give out children the credit they deserve. "Such a time as This" is yet another example of Touched by an Angel at it's greatest. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars heart touched
Like every show this one touches me deeply. At the end i feel lifted. It makes me feel there is hope in the world. It makes me feel that i am not alone. The thought of angels being with me helps me get through the day. this video makes me happy and loved. It made me think alot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touched by an Angel
"Touched by an Angel," an on-going CBS miracle drama, has touched the lives of numerous human beings and given the world renewed hope through one simple message: "God loves you."

This entertaining, emotional, and enthralling series can also be beneficial to parents as an excellent teaching tool for their children. Each epsiode easily captures the attention of its viewers; grown-ups and kids alike can share in the angelic, yet very human characters of Monica (Roma Downey), Tess (Della Reese), and Andrew (John Dye).

I wasn't an immense fan of "Touched by an Angel" when a friend introduced the episode "Amazing Grace" to my family. My mom was slightly skeptical to begin with, and my brothers were entirely disinterested. Our friend insisted that we give it a chance, however, and by the time it was over we all had a new outlook on prejudice and the difference between looking with our eyes and looking with our hearts.

Every lesson that "Touched by an Angel" teaches is worth learning...and I have that on very high authority!

5-0 out of 5 stars A video worth watching over and over again!
I purchased this video over a year ago and I still enjoy watching it. The story really makes you think about how you look at people. I think sometimes that, if all people were born blind, there wouldn't be as much prejudice and criticism of others. With the tragedies thay we are seeing happening in our schools; we need to wake up to the fact that the country has turned it's back on God. Continue making shows that show there is hope if we have the faith in God.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most beautiful episode I have ever seen
This episode of "TBAA" was so touching. For most of the show, Monica was not able to see and she had to see with her heart. I think I was crying for most of the episode. I thought it was very moving when the whole town decided to help clean the place up and Monica was then able to see. I was balling at that point! This was probably the best episode that I have ever seen.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Eye Opening Experience
This episode of TBAA hits home on many levels. First, when Monica is blinded she must "see" life without the obstacles that can lead to racial and social prejudices. Second, we are able to witness a young man's pain when he realizes that all actions have consequences. And Third, it's never too late to make a difference in someone's life. These are but a few of the lessons learned. Each time you view this episode you will be touched by another aspect of life. Brava Martha for bringing to TV one hour a week that the whole family can experience a slice of life without unnecessary sex and violence. TBAA has allowed us to welcome many new faces into our homes by way of TV that we would all feel comfortable welcoming in person. Della, John, and Roma, you are always welcome at our table! ...
