The best Christmas material from two-and-a-half decades of Saturday Night Live is collected in this video, which gets off to a raucous start by presenting Chevy Chase's (literally) unbalanced rendition of President Gerald Ford decorating the White House Christmas tree.A number of memorable Christmas satires appear, including Eddie Murphy's spoof of Mr. Rodgers, Ana Gasteyer appearing in the "Martha Stewart Topless Christmas Special," and even Adam Sandler's "Hanukkah Song."Some of the best material is from the show's early freewheeling years: a classic bit with guest Candice Bergen, playing an uptight newswoman, being suitably offended while interviewing an irresponsible and utterly sleazy toy manufacturer (Dan Ackroyd); John Belushi doing a silent yet brilliant turn as a hard-drinking department store Santa; and the entire original cast taking part in an elaborate (by the show's early standards) production number. Also appearing in the video compilation are cast members Bill Murray, Jane Curtin, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, and Dana Carvey, as well as guests Steve Martin, Danny DeVito, Paul Simon, William Shatner, and Alec Baldwin (who visits the NPR ladies to deliver a wickedly deadpan talk about his Christmas balls).Saturday Night Live has been notoriously uneven over the years, but this video is a full stocking of consistently inspired writing and performances. --Robert J. 4-0 out of 5 stars Prettty good mix of old and new
I'm a pretty big SNL fan. I don't get to watch as much as I'd like to anymore, but it's the most consistent funny show on tv. The SNL Christmas special is a great DVD.

It does have some notable skits. I love the skit with Alec Baldwin and the NPR ladies. It's so funny because all of them play being so serious so well. I laugh so hard every time I see this skit.

I liked the Martha Stewart topless christmas. She is such an easy target to make fun of and they do it great in this skit. Martha Stewart is annoying because of the way she talks and the way she presents herself. They spoof it so well in topless christmas. It's one of the better skits on the dvd.

All the skits with old SNL members are great. Dan Akroyd is one of the funniest guys to live and his skits as the toliet paper saleman and the toymaker are great.

Are two favorite SNL drunks Farley and Belushi both have some good stuff there fans should like.

Adam Sandler does the Hannakuh song. It's not the best version of the song, but it is the original and what a funny song it is.

I love this DVD. It's one of the better best of's they've made and I'm glad it's part of my collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars SNL XMAS PAST AND PRESENT. a little more past please!
A good look at the best xmas skits from SNL, except they forgot
Hannakuh Harry & Gumby's X-Mas Special. It was great though to see Chevy Chase (as President Ford) open the collection, with other appearences by the BEST & ORIGINAL Not Ready For Prime Time Players Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Jane Curtain, Garrett Morris, Gilda Radner and Second Season replacement Bill Murray.
Why Wont Lorne Micheals release SNL Season by season? It would be great to catch ALL the great performances, like the 1st season,PLEASE! Hail Chevy Chase!

3-0 out of 5 stars Funny, but no Hanukah Harry!
This video was pretty funny. It had mostly newer stuff. I would have liked to have seen stuff from the earlier years. Also, a sticker on the package advertises that the Hanukah Harry skit with Jon Lovitz is on the video, but mysteriously it is nowhere to be found! I am certain there is more material they could have put on this 65 minute video.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth purchasing
I'm a big fan of SNL, but most of the skits on this video weren't that funny. Adam Sandler singing the Hanukkah Song, and Chris Farley as Santa were the only two skits that made me laugh. I bought this as a gift for my father-in-law and I wish I hadn't! Maybe next year I'll buy him the Best of Chris Farley.

5-0 out of 5 stars WELL BALANCED MIX
THIS 65 MINUTE TAPE IS A WELL BALANCED MIX OF OLD SCHOOL AND RECENT SNL CHRISTMAS SKETCHES. ADD THIS TO THE SNL HALLOWEEN VIDEO AND YOU'RE SET FOR LAUGHS OVER THE HOLIDAYS. I SERIOUSLY HOPE THAT THEY ARE HARD AT WORK ON VOLUME 2. THEY'VE CERTAINLY GOT PLENTY OF MATERIAL. I PRAY THE NEXT TAPE INCLUDES THE SANTA THE TERMINATOR SKIT (DECEMBER '84). 5-0 out of 5 stars this is some funny stuff
Friday Night(A-)-Good ep from the b's glory days. Here, the b's meet up with a biker lady at the Maxi Mart. Hilite when Butthead wonders if the biker lady "does it".

Naked Colony(A)-Better than the first. Here, the b's try to get into a nudist colony for free. Hilite when we see what happens inside Butthead's reproductive system.

1-900-Beavis(A-)-Not as good as the last, but a very good ep. Here the b's call a phone sex line and almost start their own. Hilite when the phone sex operator puts the phone on her rear as the b's tell her to do.

Party(B)-Good ep, but weak compared to the last 3. Here, the b's try to hold a wild party, but get thrown out by Todd. Hilite when the B's try to impress Todd with their hard stuff.

Top O The Mountain(A)-Stronger ep than the ones before it. Here, the b's go get their hair washed so they can see the stylist's [anatomy]. Hilite when the b's sit there chuckling and whispering after "climbing the mountain".

Plastic Surgin(B-)-Good, but one of the weaker eps. Here, the b's get nose enlargements, thinking they got weiner enlargements. Hilite when Butthead asks the nurse if the plastic surgeon works on "bones", assuming she knows what he means.

Pregnant Pause(A)-Very strong ep. Here, Beavis thinks he's pregnant after seeing pregnant women on TV and at the Maxi Mart. Hilite when Butthead tells Beavis he looks pregnant after he stuffs a pregnancy test in his shirt.

Dream On(B+)-Great ep, tho not as good as it could have been. Here, the b's have dreams inspired by TV programming. Hilite when the b's have a Brady Bunch dream.

Vidiots(A-)-An improvement over the last ep. Here, the b's try a dating service. Hilite when the b's cancel each other's chances(possibly their only)to score.

All n all, I give this tape an A-

5-0 out of 5 stars Another hilarious tape from B&B
...this is the boys first great video. Full of laugh out loud episode and great jokes this one is a keeper.

-Friday Night(B), the boys stop by Maxi Mart to pick up chicks and a end up meeting a cool biker lady. This is the only old episode on this tape. The humor is alright but I perfer the sequel this episode inspired, Another Friday Night.

-Naked Colony(B), Beavis and Butthead are bummed when they learn its $4,000.00 to join Sunny grove nudist colony so they decide to break in instead. Another alright episode with some good humor. The best part of this ep is the look on their faces when they see all the naked people.

-1-900-Beavis(A-), after seeing an erotic add on tv the boys decide to call a phone sex line... A very fuuny episode. I laughed when the identity of the women with the sexy voice was reveiled and when they asked her to put the phone on her [rear].

-Party(B-), the boys decide to throw a party. Things start off slow when Stewart and his friends show up, but eventually Todd shows up to liven up the party. This is the only ok episode. Not much happens and there wasn't too many funny moments.

-Top O'The Mountain(B+), Beavis and Butthead go get their hair cut by a very sexy lady. A good episode. I love the look on their faces as they stare at the girls breats and Beavis' impression of Woody Woodpecker is a gut buster as well.

-Plastic Surgin(B), the boys see a doctor to get winner implants but instead get their noses enlarged. This one has plenty Boooing, booing, from Beavis and some funny jokes as well.

-Pregnant Pause(A+), Beavis tries to cope with the fact that he might be pregnant. This is one of the funniest episdodes ever, I laughed so hard it hurt. Beavis' reactions to being pregnant are hystyrical and the music the accompanies it adds a lot too. When Beavis thinks he is getting contractions I had tears in my eyes, from laughing so hard. Classic.

-Dream On(A), the boys decide to skip school and sleep and have some very interesting dreams. A very solid and funny episode. My favorite dream would have to involve the Brady Bunch girls but they are all funny. Beavis' dreams show him kicking [rear], while Butthead's show him scoring.

Vidiots(B+), Beavis and Butthead decide to make dating tapes to meet girls. A good ep. This episode is actually the closest they have ever gotten to scoring, if they weren't so stupid they would have lost their virginity, because there are girls in this episode willing to sleep with them.

A very solid video that newcommers and hardcore fans of Beavis and Butthead should both enjoy. The Preganant Pause episode is worth the $[money] alone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beavis and Butthead Score!
I enjoyed this volume on Best of Beavis and Butthead but there was one pretty obvious episode that was missing. "Babes R Us"!!! Come on, it's pretty predictable. Remember the episode when Beavisand butthead try and see Chick Mud Wrestling. I would pick that episode over "Friday Night". That's why I subtracted 1 star from this volume. The episode I enjoyed was "Naked Colony", a season 3 episode. This volume deserves 2 thumbs up, though.

4-0 out of 5 stars Chicks 'N' Stuff
When Mike Judge created Beavis And Butt-Head, it's not likely he knew just how popular and controversial the series would become. It's hard to believe what started as an animated short on MTV's Liquid Television went on to become its own series that lasted for nearly half a decade! This is a tape of eight episodes of the series. Read on for brief summaries of each.

Friday Night - The boys go to the Maxi-Mart on Friday night to score, and end up helping a biker lady shoplift.

Naked Colony - The boys can't afford to go to a nudist colony, so they jump the fence.

1-900-Beavis - After calling a nine hundred number for phone sex, the buys decide to start their own.

Party - The boys have a party, but no one comes but Stewart and the Positive Action Teens. Todd shows up and kicks them out so he can have his own party.

Top O' The Mountain - The boys decide to get haircuts so they can look down the female haircutter's shirt.

Plastic Surgin' - The buys decide to get plastic surgery to make their special areas larger.

Pregnant Pause - Through an odd twist of coincidences, Beavis thinks he has become pregnant.

Dream On - The boys have a series of dreams mocking Star Trek, The Brady Bunch, Cops, and Love Connection.

Vidiots - The boys use a video dating service, and the attendant falls in love with Beavis!

Nine great episodes. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have stated, the music videos are not here for legal reasons. That's the only reason I took one star away from this. This tape was recently rereleased as a part of Time Life's "The Best Of Beavis And Butt-Head Collection." If you can't find it in a store, consider ordering it from them. Beavis And Butt-Head is an animated masterpiece - enough said.

1-0 out of 5 stars Boring
True Beavis and Butthead are not role modles, but they are not suppose to be. I watched some episode of them on Mtv, but found them boring. They don't do anything, the jokes are all the same, and there is no plot. Mike's second cartoon called King of the Hill is funnier. South Park may be worse than Beavis and Butthead, but it is a lot funnier. At least Matt and Trey do different jokes ... Read more

One of the major breakout stars to come out of the first years ofSaturday Night Live was not one of the original Not Ready for Prime TimePlayers, but was instead born from a bit of clay and the creative mind of WalterWilliams.

The 18 shorts that comprise The Best of Saturday Night Live: The Mr. BillCollection exemplify the humor and outrageousness that we have come toexpect from Mr. Bill, Spot, Mr. Hands, and of course, Sluggo. The plots, andbudget, may have been simple and at some times poorly executed, but they remaina catalyst of laughter and bring back memories of staying up late just to seewhat troubles would cause Bill to utter his famous phrase: "Ohh, nooo!!!" We aretreated to classic Mr. Bill exploits, such as "Mr. Bill's Christmas Special,""Mr. Bill Goes to New York," and the inappropriately named "Mr. Bill StrikesBack," as well as a bonus "Public Service Announcement" relating to highwayeducation.

Although the quality of the film is not always the best, the humor remainsintact. In 50 minutes, The Best of Saturday Night Live: The Mr. BillCollection illustrates how he was one of the show's brightest stars, all thewhile keeping his unkempt, independent charm. --Zachary Lively ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not as fun as when I was ten
I think if they had included the studio audience laugh track, it would be more fun to watch (kind of creepy without it). The later shorts do include the laugh track, which must have come from the SNL broadcasts.

5-0 out of 5 stars so what
can't rewind a one minute film? Who cares? You DVD nerds are the worst.
The menu is cute.

2-0 out of 5 stars Classic hilarity, abominable DVD
The "Mr. Bill" short films are as bizarrely endearing as ever, but the DVD is a disaster. (Note that all the earlier reviews are for the VHS tape.)

Here's the rub: ***ALL*** scanning and skipping functions are disabled throughout the entire disc! Want to go to the next film? Don't press the skip button; it won't work. You have to go back to the tedious menu and arrow your way slowly to the episode you want. Want to back up or fast forward a little in the film you're watching? Sorry, but there's no way AT ALL to do that.

This disc is a cruel joke and should be withdrawn. It cannot be recommended at all as issued, though I found it impossible to give poor Mr. Bill only one star....

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic and hilarious
You may feel bad laughing at the sufferings of the benevolent, upbeat Mr. Bill, but you can't help it. This is as funny as anything ever seen on SNL. Although the video is less than an hour long, it packs more laughs than some of the best comedy movies. I highly, highly recommend this.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you like Mr. Bill (or the Pizza Head commercials) get it!
This Mr. Bill video is very funny I believe. And what makes it so great, of course, is how "cheap" it's done. No one but Mr. Hands ever moves, and Mr. Bill just has to "stand" for anything Mr. Hands does to him, or anything Sluggo, a guy who hates Mr. Bill, tells Mr. Hands to do to him. Hilarious I believe! ... Read more

Beavis and Butt-Head are (gasp) separated on Christmas Eve and each experiences a variation on classic holiday tales. While Beavis experiences a (sadly temporary) change of heart after visits from the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future, Butt-Head is visited by Charlie the Angel, who shows him how much better life would be without him ... if only he would just jump from that bridge. Somewhere, Dickens and Capra are turning in their graves, but this is a show that a B&B diehard could definitely watch once a year. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Beavis and Butthead are great
Beavis and Butthead are the two coolest doods around. They rock. They make fun of Stewart, and say butt alot. They also watch cool music videos. In this movie, they have Christmas. It rocks. This is the B&B Christmas special that MTV runs.

5-0 out of 5 stars "this is like cool and stuff" huh huh heh heh
this is the best christmas special i have ever seen! it is very funny! there are music videos! there is even a music video by the ramones! there is also some wacky music videos in there too. there is a couple scenes where there is a real picture of fire and beavis and butt-head are talking for awhile then they just start singing ozzy. lol, that part is funny. there are also letters to santa butt-head where butt-head is dressed up as santa and beavis is dressed up as a reindeer! i watch this alot, even when it's not christmas! that's how funny this is. really, just buy this because it's funny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of Beavis and Butthead Vol 1
I bought this 3 volume set from Time Life video and is three of the best cartoon Comedy DVD's I own. I am a diehard B+B fan who started watching them in 1994. Ever since then I longed for the day they would release these two wackos on DVD. No bullsh_t videos or commercials just the best of the most rediculous retards you have ever known. Long live Beavis + Butthead!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars More "worst" of Beavis and Butt-Head
I am a *HUGE* Beavis and Butt-Head fan. Needless to say I saw the ads on TV and had to order the 3-disk collection called "Best of Beavis and Butt-head". I was (and still am) greately disappointed.

The collection consists of 3-disks, each with two groups of episodes. The resultant six groups are also sold seperately as:

- Troubled youth
- Fell our pain
- Innocence lost
- Chicks n' stuff
- Butt-o-ween
- Beavis and Butt-head do Christmas.

Whoever tossed-together this collection didn't select the "best" episodes. They selected probably the worst. I don't even remember most of the episodes that appear in this collection. I seem to recall plenty of stomach-busting B&BH episodes, but for some reason they don't appear anywhere in this collection.

The collection does not include any episode(s) with "fire! fire!". How can you have a Beavis and Butt-head collection without the words "fire! fire!"??? Don't waste your money on this garbage. Also missing is frog baseball.

Hopefully, way back when they were on MTV you taped the truly "best" episodes - 'cause they ain't in this collection. I can't say enough bad about this collection. True Beavis and Butt-head fans will be woefully disappointed.

Die-hard Beavis and Butt-head fans will probably enjoy this incidental "best of" compilation, which contains seven segments pulled from MTV, aggregated into a 50-minute presentation. But creator Mike Judge's two nerdy, sexually piqued high school delinquents pale in the shadow of that other animated wonder, South Park. In fact, Beavis and Butt-head seem a little passé in light of the success of rival network Comedy Central and its wunderkind, junior high school-based series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone of BASEketball fame. Consequently, the segments rely on the same tired jokes again and again ("heh-heh, heh-heh, he said 'come'") and by the time Beavis chows down on too much sugar and his alter-ego, Cornholio, appears in episode six, we're struggling with the woeful repetition and limitations of the boys' routine. The best is saved for first because the segment entitled "No Laughing" is at least somewhat original in spirit. It may be that we haven't yet been dumbed down by the one-trick pony parade. As for the rest, well, things progress from okay to bad and even Cornholio, searching for "TP for my bung-hole" can't bring things up to speed. This is definitely for true Beavis and Butt-head believers only. --Paula Nechak ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars this is some funny stuff
No Laughing(A+)-This tape starts out with a bang. In this ep, the b's aren't allowed to laugh during sex ed class. Hilite when Buzzcut was shouting sex ed subjects while the b's were trying to restrain their laughter.

Scared Straight(B)-A good ep, but not as strong as the first one.
Here, the b's go to a prison via the school's scared straight system and befriend two prisoners. Hilite when Butthead was #2'ing in front of laughing prisoners.

They're Coming To Take Me Away(A-)-Better than the last, but still can't compare to the first. Here, the b's visit the school psychiatrist and get sent to the nuthouse. Hilite when the b's were talking about Beavis' ma.

Manners...(A)-Improvement over last two. Here, a manners expert tries to teach the b's about good manners, but they end up getting him in trouble. Hilite when the b's use manners when #2'ing.

Liar Liar(A-)-Not as good as the last, but it's still superb. Here, the b's are accused of stealing and must undergo a polygraph test. Hilite when Beavis is proven to be a murderer.

Great Cornholio(A+)-Perfect ep, but not as awesome as No Laughing. Here, Beavis downs candy and becomes CORNHOLIO!! Hilite when Cornholio starts wanderin the halls.

Beavis' Final Judgement(B+)-Only better than one ep, but it's a very good ep. Here, Beavis dreams he meets St. Peter and gets sent to Hell. Hilite when Peter reminds Beavis about the times he touched himself.

All n all, I give this tape an A-.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beavis and Butthead: The Final Judgment
No Laughing(B+) This is a fairly funny episode. Some of the jokes are funny but alot get old.
Scared Straight(B) This episode was ok.. There were a few funny parts but it was pretty boring.
They're Coming to Take Me Away Huh Huh(B) See above
Manners Suck(A) This is a funny episode. The part were beavis cusses out the manners guy is halarious. So is the part where vandrisson beats the hell out of the manners dude.
Liar Liar(B+) The part where beavis tells the manager that a forigner stole the money is halarious. So is the part where beavis is practicing while butthead takes the test.
The Great Cornholio(A) This episode is so funny when stewerts mom serves them breakfast burritos and butthead is like "what the hell is this crap!"
The Final Judgement(b+) An ok episode

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for B&B fans
The final judgement is the only Beavis and Butthead collection avaliable on DVD and the reson being is that it sold the most. Not because it was the best but because it was released at a time when Beavis and Butthead's popularity was skyrocketing. You couldn't escape these two in 1995. As a big fan of the show I did enjoy the video but I wouldn't put it in my five favorites.

-No laughing(A), for punishment the boys are not allowed to laugh and if they do, they will be expelled to a school where they will get there butts will get kicked on a daily basis. By far the best episode from the early years. It is even more funny watching them trying not to laugh, and the scene where they try to speak spainish is priceless.

-Scared straight(B), the boys are sent to the scared straight program to learn to behave but instead make friends with the inmates. This episode is a mix bag, the cursing is funny and the end is good but this episode is little short of the mark

-They're coming to take me away huh huh(B), the boys are examined by the new school psychologist and end up going to an insane asylum. Again this one has its moments but isn't very memorable. The jokes about Beavis' mom are the best.

-Manners Suck(B), a new teacher tries to teach the class manners but loses it when Beavis and Butthead want follow his instructions. Again there is nothing wrong with this episode but there is nothing to great either. The end with the two of them in the bathroom is funny.

-Liar Liar(B+), after their manager thinks that they stole money from Burgur World, Beavis and Butthead have to take a lie detector test, neither is found guilty of the crime, but they discover something interesting about Beavis. Pretty solid episode that has a hilarious ending involving Beavis being a serial killer from the 60's.

-The great Cornholio(A), after downing a six pack and over 20 candy bars Beavis turns into his alter ego Cornholio and wanders the halls of Highland looking for TP. Classic, this is a great episode and it introduces us to the one and only cornholio. One of my favorites.

-The final Jugdment(B+), Beavis is killed and sent to heaven where St. Peter tells Beavis all about his life. Good episode with some very funny moments. St. Peter talking about all the times Beavis touched himself is hilarious and I love Beavis' reaction to one of the times when he says "You could see me, I was under the sheets!"

So to conclude this is a good B&B tape that has its moments. While more solid then Work Sucks and There goes the Neighborhood, the best B&B tapes where yet to come. The next being Chicks N' Stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beavis & Butthead will never die!!
I just have to say that the editorial review is SOO typical of those people who think South Park (or any other adult comedic cartoons) is so elite & better, etc. etc., for whatever reasons. South Park will run its course overtime, as most popular shows do, & it has the same tired jokes too. C'mon, how many times can Kenny die? About the same number of times that the B&B boys can laugh at the same sexist jokes. I'm female, & I think they're damn funny, always have...however, most females I've run into just thought it was stupid...they don't know what they're missing :P Huh huh, all the guys thought it was kewl that I was such a fan ;) But really, it's not a matter a show being "better" than the other, they just appeal to people with different senses of humor. I personally like all kinds of humor, but B&B was just always fun, mindless humor with so many clever twists & turns here & there. I like B&B better than South Park generally, & I always liked the way real life was portrayed with some of the other characters, regular & random. Not so much the people being "real" or anything, but just exaggerations of real people you see on a daily basis that we find so disgustingly funny. It's still funny to this day, & always will be. I personally thought their funniest segments & most memorable lines were on the music videos, which, I DON'T think you can find on these episode collections that you can buy now *sniff sniff*. Only way to see that, folks, is to see it on eMpTV, which, as you already know, doesn't play anything good anymore. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I woe for B&B's Pain
Cool! Another well thought up Video on the Best of Beavis and Butthead. My favorite was "Blood Pressure". I give it an A+. I don't understand why they added "Animation Sucks", though. It's probably because B&B's cartoon characters were dieing or that they had a struggle with the project. I still give it an A, though because of it's awesome humor. "Bad Dog" was a classic episode in my opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars A true 90s gem!!!
These days, MTV is full of disgustingly horrible shows such as "The Real World", "Newleyweds", and "True Life", pathetically horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE beyond horrible shows! so much for "MUSIC" television- more like "Stupid reality shows for people who are whiny and depressed and have nothing better to do" television!

But back in the golden days of the 90s,, MTV had a great show about 2 no-life morons sitting on their couch watching music videos and calling themselves "fartknockers"- any human being who grew up in the 90s know these 2 "fartknockers" as the one and only BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD!

Beavis and Butthead mean so much to my youth- how Green Day were the soundtrack to my youth, Beavis & Butthead were the #1 television show of my youth... Yes, no fan will disagree that the music videos every 5 seconds were very annoying, but well, that WAS back in the day when there was actually GOOD music on the mainstream charts (and it IS where I first saw the video to Green Day's "Longview"...) The best was hearing Beavis & Butthead making comments about the videos played- "This sucks!" "hehe this song is cool!" "woa check out that dead guy!"

But anyway onto this tape... It's hard for me to pick one Beavis & Butthead video because they are all so great, but I had to pick this one, because it was the first one I saw- I still remember... I was over at my friend's house and I wanted to play Sega and he said "No we're gonna watch Beavis & Butthead!" I said "NO I WANNA PLAY SEGA!"- well sure enough, I'm glad he forced me to watch it....

My favorite episode on here is the one where Butthead puts Beavis in a tire and pushes him down a hill,, causing a train to ride off tracks, and Todd to spill soda on his new pants :)

It's a crying shame that MTV had to cancel this great show to devote their time to a dumb show about Jessica Simpson's marriage..... but I still have tons of videos (including the great "Beavis & Butthead Do America")

Beavis & Butthead- a 90s pop culture icon, and a truly great memory of my youth. It's hard not to love them. Hehehehehe, I said "hard", huhuhuhuhh.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is some funny stuff
Animation Sucks(A)-Really strong ep. Here, the b's draw dead people in animation class. Hilite when Beavis screams "MASSACARE".

Bad Dog(A-)-Excellent ep, but not as good as the last one. Here, the b's get a dog that likes to bite. Hilite when Beavis gets bit in the nads.

Tired(A)-Another strong ep. Here, the b's find a truck tire and Beavis goes for a helluva ride. Hilite when Beavis begins his wild ride.

Bus Trip(A)-Yes! Another A worthy ep. Here, the b's cause mayhem and madness on a school trip. Hilite when the b's walk to the front of the bus with their pants down.

Patsies(A-)-Yet another good ep. Here, the b's are taken by the Positive Acting Teens and end up doing something negative anyway. Hilite when Butthead confuses the term "next of kin" with "next of skin".

Choke(A-)-Another good ep? This tape rules! Here, Butthead chokes on chicken and Beavis tries to find help. Hilite when Beavis' help ends up being a "wash your hands" sign from Burger World.

Blood Pressure(A)-Whoa! Another A worthy ep. Here, Beavis gets his arm stuck in the blood pressure sleeve and Butthead does very little to save him. Hilite when Butthead gives a store clerk adult diapers in exchange for a saw.

Lightning Strikes(A+)-The first straight A b and b tape ends with a bang. In this ep, the b's get struck by lightning after seeing a Ben Franklin documentarty. Hilite when the b's get struck.

All n all, I give this ep an A

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy
Feel our Pain is the duo's fifth video and it could quite possibly be their best. No more old episodes this one focuses entirely on new ones and I think that it is a good thing.

-Animation [stinks](A-), Mr. Vandriessen tells the class their next assignment will involve animation, the boys decide to draw dead people. Seeing their final cut of their cartoon was very funny and the highlight was seeing Beavis take a psycho and start screaming massacre.

-Bad Dog(A), Butthead decides that they should adopt a dog and when they find one they like it can't seem to keep itself off of Beavis. This episode makes you laugh out loud and seeing Beavis get his nuts bitten by a dog was just hysterical. You really feel Beavis' pain in this one.

-Tired(A+), Beavis and Butthead roll a tire up a hill and Beavis decides to ride down in it. Best episode on the tape, the mayhem that ensues is classic Beavis and Butthead and there a lots of memorable moments to go around in this episode.

-Bus Trip(A), While taking a field trip to go mountain climbing, Beavis and Butthead decide to moon cars, curse at other people and cause their teacher to fall down a cliff. Once again this is another great episode. Everything is funny including the scene in which they walk to the front of the bus and forget to pull their pants up after mooning cars and Mr. Vandriessens fall is both shocking and funny.

-Patsies(B+), the positive acting teens take Beavis and Butthead out of detention so that they can help them do something positive, they just end up doing something negative. Not the best episode on this tape but it definitly has its moments. Hubcap scene is funny.

-Choke(B), Butthead is choking and it up to Beavis to help him, Goog luck. Alright episode, the best part is when Beavis starts to choke.

-Blood Pressure(A), Beavis decideds to try a blood pressure test thinking its a ride, I think you can guess from the cover what happens next. Once again another classic, Beavis slowing turning red is very funny and Buttheads attempts to free him are so pitiful that its hysterical.

-Lightening Strikes(A-), After watching a documentory on Ben Franklin, our two favorite boys get out the kite and fly it during an electrical storm. Although I am not a big fan of its ending like others are, the shot with them getting struck by lightening and crushed by a tree are well done.

This is a very good tape and like I said earlier could possibly be their strongest. This is the tape I'd advise people to buy and this is the one I show my friends. This is the one newcommers should see first. You won't be dissapointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Always funny to watch two morons
As always, anyone who watched MTV in the 90s knows that Beavis and Butthead were a phenomena that has turned into a cult status today. The VHS version here helps commemorate that.

This video has a few of the episodes from the MTV show, and as always they're fun to watch. The only bad thing about this is there's only a couple. By the time you really get into the video and want to see more, it ends. It's pretty much MTV taking advantage of the whole marketing thing by only having a few episodes per tape, but because the price has lowered to [$$$] it's not a bad deal. You do have to get the others to really have a sit-down Beavis and Butthead festival and they're pretty good in combo. They aren't released on DVD and none of the controversial "Fire!" ones are there -- mostly because they were sued over that whole incident.

Go ahead and get them -- they're fun. For more of the episodes, you have to find them through downloadable engines (in poorer copies, I add) and if you're looking for Liquid Television as well, they are available on VHS and DVD -- check it out. All in all, good, but not quite enough for one tape. Price, however, can't be beat. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 1985 was one of the best season's ever for S.N.L. !
I have no idea why Lorne Michaels decided to dismiss every cast member from this season except Dennis Miller and Jon Lovits. Maybe the ratings weren't what was to be expected or maybe he missed the raw talent that made the show (Saturday Night Live) what it is. Still, Damon Wayans, Lovits, and Miller are all naturals and all made their debuts on this season of SNL. Pros such as Randy Quaid, Anthony Michael Hall, Robert Downey Jr., and Joan Cusack are all remarkable and prove that comedy is where they belong. Ron Reagan Jr. and Tom Hanks star in incredibly well done parodies on Back to the Future and Jerry Seinfeld, and one of the greatest monologues in the history of the show is delivered by the great Peewee Herman on this outstanding best of 1985 tape. Don't miss out!

4-0 out of 5 stars great stuff
When I watch this video, I get flashbacks of my life during that time. The tape features Tom Hanks when he was just another actor in silly movies, PeeWee Herman, Penn and Teller, and the president's son (no, not Dubya!).
Cameos of audience members, a "Back to the Future" spoof, a yuppie-slamming commercial parody, a Hall and Oates impersonation, etc., all show that 1985 was (and is) the most totally "eighties" year.

My only complaint is that Sam Kinnison made numerous appearences on SNL during this season, but none of those were included on this tape. ... Read more

They're ugly, stupid, rude, crudely drawn, and absolutely mind-numbing--which has always been the source of Beavis and Butt-head's appeal.Hard Cash collects eight cartoons in which the killer Bs are out for cash (though, unfortunately, none of the Burger World episodes are included). If this were any other cartoon, the plot summary of any of the episodes here would be: Beavis and Butt-head get jobs, hilarity ensues as they try to fit in.The, er, genius of B&B is that hilarity never actually ensues--in fact, not much of anything ensues. There's a bunch of butt jokes, a lot of semipubescent giggling, and the rampant mundaneness of everyday existence in a dead-end life, which is why the series was one of the best send-ups of television this side of Chris Elliott's Get a Life. Collected here, they tend not to work as well, though; without the--dare we even think it?--ambition that held Beavis and Butt-Head Do America together, a themed collection of episodes lacks any real cohesiveness. It is always nice to see MC 900 Ft Jesus' video for "If I Only Had a Brain" make an appearance, however, and B&B's transfixion by the song's infinitely catchy hook is one of their finest moments. --Randy Silver ... This was one of the funniest videos I have ever seen. If you have ever wanted to see Beavis and Butt-Head copy money and try to use it this is the #1 choice for you to choose. This was my first video to buy in the collection and it is one of the funniest in the collection. The only reason I gave it four stars is because it only lasts 50 whole minutes but that should not alter you from buying it. It is a must have in the collection.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beavis & Butthead compared to South Park?
I find the Amazon editorial's choice of comparison ridiculous. Beavis & Butthead old and tired?
Since when are Stone & Parker original? If it wasn't for Cartman, South Park would be anything but watchable. Episode after episode of same old toilet humor, and B&B are the ones that are tired?
I've been a big fan of the timeless duo, and I also started watching South Park when it first came out. I couldn't keep myself interested for more than 13 episodes - the show is ridiculously repetitive, if not downright unfunny at times (Mech Barbra Streisand? Yeah, whatever... "They killed Kenny!"? Yawn). Conversely, I'm totally clueless as to why Judge never made any movies following Office Space (easily one of the funniest movies and truest social commentary ever made).
Anyway... This video would have been one-of-a-kind, if the music video's weren't missing. The videos were an integral part of the show - especially if you think back to such gems as If I Only Had A Brain (MC 900ft Jesus) and No More I Love You's (Annie Lennox).
Taking out the videos should be considered a crime, though given volatile copyright issues, I'm not too surprised. One can only hope that a comprehensive episode collection will someday be released.

4-0 out of 5 stars my comments
This tape is ok to buy and a few laughs but this tape isn't all that great though but its worthwhile to watch.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Complete Ripoff
The box claims that the episodes are shown "As seen on MTV: with music videos," but this collection still only contains about ten percent of the videos that were on the original episodes, and the videos are what made the show great. If you are a fan, the absence of the videos will be a big letdown. If you are not, you will not understand why the show was so brilliant if all you see is the censored version that MTV is now releasing. Beavis and Butt-head is my all-time favorite TV show, and it really upsets me that MTV will not show reruns of it or release it as it was originally shown. I guess MTV has gotten so self-righteous that they can't take the parody.

4-0 out of 5 stars Please rethink the format for the DVD release!
This is a fun blues video to watch. Buddy Guy is playing well and the selection of material is good. A purist may be disappointed that the backup band is led by G.E. Smith of SNL, but he and his band do an enthusiastic and excellent job.

The only complaint that I have about this VHS tape is that it is another example of the twisted production values that are often brought to these "authentic blues hero concert tapes". Nearly every time Buddy Guy gets deep into a solo, the director/editor decides to cut away to an interview segment. I like the interview segments, but I am not so shallow that I wouldn't watch them if they appeared at the end of the concert, or even between songs. Come on! Most people who buy this VHS tape probably play the guitar and want to watch Buddy's fingers during each and every solo.

I do hope they release this concert on DVD some day, and that if they do, they rethink the format. The interviews would make for a nice additional menu choice.

The good news is that the concert was also released on a CD without the songs being chopped up this way. So buy both of them and you can really dig how great Buddy Guy can be in concert and was for this particular gig.

4-0 out of 5 stars A LITTLE BLUES HISTORY
Buddy Guy plays very good on this video, as well the Saturday Night Live Band. What stands out in this film is the footage of the old Chicago Blues Clubs that have been closed down and their present day look. Buddy gives informative background on the old days, his perspective on the Blues and the role he's had. Playing in a small club you get limited camera angles, so I saw better footage of Buddy Guy at the Muddy Waters tribute on PBS. It's still worth the purchase though because he's playing more straight Blues, keeping the "Hendrix Style" to a minimum.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buddy is the REAL DEAL
I have been to Buddy Guy's Legends nightclub in Chicago and this video captures Buddy at his best jammin with GE Smith and the SNL band in Legend's itself...excellent direction with interviews with Buddy telling about the early days of the Chicago Blues scene...sound is excellent and I truly enjoyed watching Buddy and GE trade blues guitars licks...a must see video...

2-0 out of 5 stars (Could've) been AWESOME...
Isn't Mr Guy receiving more than his fair share of attention these days ? This is a fine sample of what a young director can do with a copy of Adobe Premiere and a good PC ! Don't get me wrong, the music is TERRIFIC, sound is above average (it's recorded live at Legends, Guy's Club), the band is first class... Picture quality is OK, I guess, with 3-4 cameras buzzing around the place (a lot of angles, good thing) and a mediocre sepia-toning thing over the whole video, except -here comes! - the TERRIBLE cutscenes where your good frined Buddy Guy gets all-down-home-homey and warm, and starts telling stories of the past, his first cigar-box-guitar, the first time he met the blues, and, guess what ? ALL CUTSCENES are over solos! First song, first solo, Buddy breaks a string, everybody's laughing, oops.. a cutscene, solo in the back, picture comes back to the club after solo ends ! Poor editing? Buddy's tendency for overexposure ? Buy this tape for the music, and JUST LISTEN to it, no need to watch it (that is, if you're not fed up with his Royal Bluesness already)

5-0 out of 5 stars Buddy Guy is without a doubt the real deal!
Buddy Guy is without a doubt one of the greatest guitar players in the world. This film, which showcases Guy live at his world famous "Legends" takes us on a musical journey. It not only shows us the immensly talented Guy playing with G.E. Smith and the Saturday Night Live band but it also features interview clips in which Guy recalls his early days, his influences as well as his brushes with other bluesmen as Muddy Waters. This film is brilliantly directed and filmed. The most important thing, however, is the music. It does not get any better with fiery blues riffs, solos, his charismatic stage presence and of course the trademark passionate voice of Buddy Guy, and live. A wonderful musical journey with one of the most talented and creative guitar players of our time. Buddy Guy is the epitome of blues greats and he is without a doubt the real deal. ... Read more

This addition to the Beavis and Butt-head canon offers high and low points; to paraphrase a famous writer, it's both the best of times and the worst of times for our dynamic duo. Things kick off with a raucous start in the minor classic "Bungholio: Lord of the Harvest," in which B&B take advantage of Halloween and forego the sanctuary of their couch for some trick-or-treating. Beavis in particular reaps the copious prepackaged fruits of the harvest, turning him into his sugar-fueled alter ego Bungholio, complete with jittery rants and incoherent babbling. If you're a fan of Bungholio's high jinks, then you should be in hog heaven; things take a deliciously dark turn when Butt-head meets up with a creepy, zombielike farmer. Alas, the rest of the Butt-o-ween tape features more standard B&B escapades, none of which are related to Halloween. Highlights include the Pleasantville-style parody "Leave It to Beavis" (in black and white, natch), the sublimely stupid "Ding-Dong Ditch" (B&B ring doorbells and run, with varying degrees of success), and the almost-existential "Killing Time," in which the boys must occupy themselves for two hours until the next cool TV show comes on. However, you might want to fast-forward through "The Pipe of Doom" (Butt-head caught in a construction-site pipe), "Late Night with Butt-Head" (the boys do David Letterman), and "Candy Sale," despite a cameo voice appearance by David Spade in the latter. Still, "Bungholio: Lord of the Harvest" makes up for any letdown you might experience. --Mark Englehart ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars this is cool
the episodes on this collection get (surprise) an A+. ...

4-0 out of 5 stars Butt-O-Ween
When Mike Judge created Beavis And Butt-Head, it's not likely he knew just how popular and controversial the series would become. It's hard to believe what started as an animated short on MTV's Liquid Television went on to become its own series that lasted for nearly half a decade! This is a tape of seven episodes of the series. Read on for brief summaries of each.

Bungholio - Lord Of The Harvest (double length episode): The boys go out trick or treating, but no one gives them candy, so they dress up. Butt-Head pours cheese sauce on himself, and Beavis puts underwear on his head and says he's a big nad.

The Pipe Of Doom: Butt-Head gets stuck inside of a construction yard pipe

Killing Time: No good TV will be on for two hours, so the boys must find a way to pass the time.

Leave It To Beavis: A Leave It To Beaver parody featuring Beavis as Beaver, Mrs. Stevenson (Stewart's mom) as June, Butt-Head as Ward, and Todd as Eddie Haskell.

Ding Dong Ditch: The boys ring doorbells and run, but they can't seem to do it right.

Late Night With Butt-Head: To make a talk show, the boys attend their school's audio/visual club.

Candy Sale: The boys must sell candy for their school. When they keep buying them from each other using the same two dollars, they practically sell themselves.

Seven great episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Five Stars For Non-Stop Stupidity And Laughs
This is probably one of my favorite B&B collections, as it features the 1995 Halloween special "Bungholio: Lord Of The Harvest". B&B decide they want to go trick or treating so they look around for something to wear (Beavis goes as a "Nad", Butthead goes as "Nachos"), and when they go house to house and finally to Andersons house, Beavis raids his candy and turns into his alter-ego, Cornholio. This is probably one of the best episodes ever. Other episodes on this collection are "Pipe Of Doom" (Butthead gets stuck in a pipe at a construction site and the rescue squad & news team captures the event); "Killing Time" (B&B try to find ways to entertain themselves for 2 hours til their favorite TV show airs); "Leave It To Beavis" (Leave It To Beaver, B&B style); "Ding-Dong-Ditch" (B&B play the ring-the-doorbell-and-run game on people in the neighborhood); "Late Night With Butthead" (B&Bs solution to David Letterman); and "Candy Sale" (B&B and their classmates are forced to sell candy for a school program). Overall, this is a hilarious collection, but it would be nice if the B&B tapes were longer than just the usual 45-50 minutes. But I won't complain too much as I've been looking for the Halloween episode forever and finally found it on this collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars "check it out, I'm nachos"
This Halloween episode is hilarious, & full of the same expected behavior of the teen delinquents. Candy + Beavis just doesn't mix, hehe. As far as the other episodes, "Leave it to Beavis" was one of the few episodes that I laughed the least, but the others are some of my favorites. DON'T fast-forward through "Pipe of Doom", it's so stupid it's funny. "pipe...heh heh...pipe" I mean, even the newslady at the end has to comment "GOD, what a stupid kid!!" And I didn't know that was David Spade on "Candy Sale", but I knew that voice sounded familiar...they even made the character resemble him too!! "Uhh, our school's making us sell candy" By the way, do these even have any of the music videos in this collection? Cuz the music videos they used in the halloween episode were downright scary... & funny :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Best B&B Video...EVER!
I bought Beavis and Butthead- The 2nd Coming on DVD and it included this tape on it. I thought this was the best feature on the whole DVD set. I love the Episode Lawn and Garden! Insect Court Rules!

Home Improvement (A+) The duo paints Mr. Anderson's Shed and take a Joy Ride in his Ride on Lawn Mower.

Lawn and Garden (A++) PERFECT! B&B prune Mr. Anderson's Trees with a Chainsaw and accidently land the tree on Anderson's House witch completely destroys it. Then they prune power lines and play insect court....which eventually cuts Butthead's Finger Off.

Good Credit (A) The boys steal Anderson's Credit Card and buy a bunch of Pets while Anderson trys to book a hotel.

Washing the Dog (A+) B&B wash Mr. Anderson's Dog in hopes of being in his will. They wash it in a washing machine at the Laundrymat and go inside it themselves. They then puke on the dog and make it smell worse.

The Vending Machine (A-) Beavis and Butthead go to a vending machine to get sour cream and salsa pork rines. After noticing the vending machine doesn't work Butthead trys to get more money leaving Beavis at the vendor.

Mr. Anderson's Balls (A) The duo goes to a golf course in order to find a missing kid and find out that Mr. Anderson is playing golf. They steal his golf balls in order to make some green.

Pool Toys (A+) The boys help Mr. Anderson out with his pool but in the making they ruin his tool shed, crash his ride on Lawn Mower into his pool, wreck his yard, make his pool extremely shallow, and get stuck in the cement while Anderson tries to get tile.

The Trial (B-) Poor. The boys egg Anderson's House and must show up for court.

I think Season 2 included the best B&B episodes including Tom Anderson. (Those are the first 4 episodes) I strongly recomend this Video. Oh yeah, Washing the Dog was banned on TV so there's no chance you'll see it in RE-Runs on MTV2.
Overrall, give this an A.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is some funny stuff
Home Improvement(A)-Very excellent ep from the b's glory days. Here, the b's paint Anderson's house and steal his mower. Hilite when the mower runs out of gas in traffic.

Lawn and Garden(A+)-Perfect ep! Here, the b's prune Anderson's trees, as well as his house. Hilite when the b's play insect court with Anderson's chainsaw.

Good Credit(A)-Supreme ep, but doesn't compare to the last one. Here, the b's buy pets using Anderson's credit card. Hilite when Butthead announces the sexuality of two dogs.

Washing the Dog(A+)-Probably the best ep on the tape. Here, the b's take Anderson's filthy dog to the laundromat. Hilite when the b's go for a spin in a washing machine.

vs the Vending Machine(B)-Good ep, but weak compared to the previous 4. Here, the b's try to get their stuck snack out of the vending machine. Hilite when Butthead forgets about Beavis when he tries to get change.

Mr Anderson's Balls(A)-Improvement over the last ep. Here, the b's steal Anderson's golf balls at the links and sell them for $1.00. Hilite when golfers' conversation sounds like obvious sexual innuendo.

Pool Toys(A)-Once again, another A worthy ep! Here, the b's work on Anderson's pool and destroy it in the process. Hilite when the b's are up to their waists in dried cement.

The Trial(B)-Good ep, but it's extremely weak compared to most of the other eps. Here, the b's defend themselves against Anderson in court. Hilite when people keep calling Beavis "Beatrice".

All n all, I give this tape an A

4-0 out of 5 stars another good buy.
I have all the B and B tapes in the US and even some in the UK. This is the second tape released by MTV and like Work Sucks it is a mixture of old and new Beavis and Butthead.

-Home Improvement(B-), the boys steal Mr. Anderson's lawn mower and cause a traffic jam. Way too short. I think it was less then 4 minutes. Of course a lot was edited though, such as them smelling the paint fummes and starting some fires.

-Lawn and Garden(B+), the boys are doing some prunning and end up prunning some power lines in the process. Very funny early episode. The last shot with Beavis' finger being chopped off is gruesome, yet funny.

-Good credit(C), the boys take Anderson's credit card and buy some exotic animals. Slow episode. Not much really happens and since this is an early episode the voices and animation suck to.

-Washing the dog(B+), Beavis and Butthead want to get in Mr. Anderson's will so they decide to go wash his dog, in a washing machine. Then they decide to give it a try to. This one made me laugh out loud when I saw them in the washing machine, probably the best episode from the early years.

-vs. the vending machine(B+), When Beavis and Butthead's sour cream and salsa Pork rimmes are stuck in a vending machine they take matters into their own hands. This is the first modern episode on this tape, anyone watching will notice what a big difference there is in the voices and animation. Beavis yelling for Butthead at the end is this ep's highlight.

-Mr. Anderson's balls(A-), Beavis and Butthead give Anderson even more trouble when they start stealing his golf balls from him so that they can sell them. Good episode that has some really funny moments. Beavis, "I have two balls that are identical."

-Pool toys(A-),the boys fill Mr. Anderson's new pool with cement, hilarious results follow. Best episode on the tape, this one shows you how stupid they really are.

-Trail(B-), Beavis and Butthead go on trail for throwing eggs at Anderson's house. Ok ep with Ok animation. Why Butthead got possesed is never fully explained and is just weird.

Overall this is a good video, definitly not their best but not bad either.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beavis and Butthead adventures as usual
As always, anyone who watched MTV in the 90s knows that Beavis and Butthead were a phenomena that has turned into a cult status today. The VHS version here helps commemorate that.

This video has a few of the episodes from the MTV show, and as always they're fun to watch. The only bad thing about this is there's only a couple. By the time you really get into the video and want to see more, it ends. It's pretty much MTV taking advantage of the whole marketing thing by only having a few episodes per tape, but because the price has lowered to $10 it's not a bad deal.

5-0 out of 5 stars The famous "Tom Anderson" episodes. . .
1994. What were you doing? Kurt Cobain died, the tech geek down the street was the only guy you knew who was on the Internet, and Beavis and Butt-head were in their heyday.

This video features Mike Judge doing the voice of Hank Hill, back when that voice belonged to hapless neighborhood retiree Tom Anderson. These are among the funniest episodes in the series. If you want to see a guy who is dumb enough to get burned by B & B time after time, this video is for you!

The only drawback is that the "intermissions" where Beavis and Butt-head would sit on the couch watching videos have been removed. I always loved those moments and felt they were integral to the series in terms of developing B & B as teenage couch potatoes. But seeing the main "storyline" parts of the episodes brings back a lot of good memories. ... Read more
