5-0 out of 5 stars The best of Bugs ever!
I bought this video (well, actually, I had to order it, it was so popular at the time!) in 1993 while working at a Warner Bros. store because I loved the cartoons (especially the Wagner-piece) and said I wanted it in case I ever had kids. Well, almost ten years later, my kids (now seven and five) LOVE this video! (So do I!) For any Bugs fan and/or classical music buff, this is a MUST!

5-0 out of 5 stars "What's Opera, Doc?"
I think this video contains the classic "What's Opera, Doc?" Bugs dressed in the disguise of a young maiden and Elmer Fudd with his magic helmet on to help him "kill the rabbit," sing "Return My Love." Elmer falls for the maiden until she looses her golden locks. But it doesn't end there. It stays true to Opera and sort of has a tragic ending. The animation, graphics, and humor are a true materpiece.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yet another classic Bugs film.
This is one everybody has seen. This is the cartoon where Bugs is featured in many operas with his rivals. I can't remember the name, but Yosimite Sam is dressed up like a viking, and Bugs is dressed up like a princess. Also, the Barber of Siville with Bugs and Elmer is great. Great cartoons in sync with classical music. This is one of the best cartoons ever created. Bugs fan or not, you must have this. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Christmas classic...
Over the past few days, I've gotten into the Christmas spirit (already; as of this review, it's only mid-November), so I figured I'd review one of my favorite holiday memories now available on DVD.

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is undeniably my favorite animated Christmas special. A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph and Frosty are great, of course, but the Grinch is the cream of the crop. Wonderful narration by Boris Karloff, immaculate animation and that special "Christmas vibe" you get when you're watching or listening to something really special; what's not to like? This is an essential piece of holiday history for your collection.

There's nothing I can really say to make you buy this disc; you've seen it by now and chances are, unless you're the Grinch himself, you absolutely adore it. What I can say is that this particular DVD makes an already perfect Christmas special even better. Not only do you get a few wonderful features that deal with the making of the the Grinch and a few fun games for the kids, but also "Horton Hears a Who," another wonderful cartoon made by animation genius, Chuck Jones.

The review written by Amazon.com summed it up perfectly with just one sentence - this is one of the best Christmas gifts you can get for YOURSELF.

5-0 out of 5 stars You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch !
Since I was 12 years old I have looked forward to seeing the annual telecast of How the Grinch Stole Christmas on tv. Now that I own the video I have watched this ageless animated classic so many times I've had to replace the video twice ! The main character is the Grinch - he's lean and green and OH SO MEAN ! But he has a charm all his own and he decides to steal Christmas away from the sweet little folks in Whoville so he won't have to tolerate their singing and happiness. He steals their trees and toys and decorations -- even their Who Roast Beast and the last can of Who Hash ! But still the spunky little Who folk celebrate Christmas by holding hands and singing joyfully. I get a lump in my throat EVERY time the moment comes where the Grinch realizes he HASN'T stolen Christmas after all. Christmas is a season of the heart -- you can't buy it in a store or hang it on a tree. Buy the video and share this wonderful classic with anyone from age 2 to 92 ! I guarantee they will love it. I am 43 years old and I plan to watch it again when I go home from work today. Just writing this review makes me want to enjoy the video all over again !

1-0 out of 5 stars And all the viewers cried "boo who who who"....
Everything you read is true! This Grinch is yellow and drab. The disk lacks the wonderful bright colors that everyone has a right to expect when buying the DVD version of a TV special they could see every year for free. Not that there is anything wrong with original--it's fabulous, 5-stars as far as Christmas specials go. But this version is thoroughly ruined by bad mastering. Wait for the re-release. Don't get caught! The correction is probably on its way and you can be sure they won't sneak it out--it will have new packaging, probably some new extras, and be clearly marked "remastered".

If you own the DVD and have your doubts (some reviewers seem to), try this: Take a look at the documentary extra hosted by Troy McClure. Throughout the documentary, they run clips of the Grinch in the background where the color is RIGHT! A beautiful bright-green Grinch--just like you remember. Compare that to the main feature (the thing you actually paid for), where he is washed out and nearly yellow.

After living 15 years in Denmark I really came to miss some of the Christmas specials from my youth in the USA. I suppose anybody in the US with cable gets quite sick of these, but for me, the Grinch and Charlie Brown's Christmas were always an important part of building the Christmas spirit. Well, the spirit here seems to be all about greed and incompetence; sell the defective version this year, then sell the corrected version to the same people next year.

5-0 out of 5 stars A CLASSIC CLASSIC!
This is just one of the great holiday classics from the sixties. A true holiday treat that never goes out of style. Also a true classic treat from the seventies "Horton hears a who". A must for any collector. The air dates for the Grinch from the sixties are as follow.
CBS 7:00 - 7:30 Sunday 12/18/66
CBS 7:00 - 7:30 Sunday 12/17/67
CBS 7:00 - 7:30 Sunday 12/22/68
CBS 7:30 - 8:00 Sunday 12/21/69
Buy it, a Christmas treat for always.

4-0 out of 5 stars As Dour as You Want to Be
One of Christmas specials' enduring images is Max the dog, done up like a reindeer trudging up the mountain hauling the enormous bag of presents and trees. After not having seen this in quite some time, and not since Jim Carrey's version, it was great to return to one of Chuck Jones' masterpieces. As the marvelous Boris Karloff narrates, the Grinch comes to life reminding us that he was considerably more dour initially than the wild barely contained slapstick Carrey brought to the table. The famous Grinch song moves us slowly along like a black sludge as the Grinch endeavors to steal the commercial trappings of Christmas from the Who village. In the end, of course, good triumphs and the Grinch repents his ways and gets the picture of the holidays as a 'feeling' rather than material things. Still holds up well after all these years as it gets introduced to every new generation. ... Read more

Rudyard Kipling's classic story comes to delightful life with this wonderful animated short combining the estimable talents of narrator Orson Welles and director Chuck Jones (the genius behind many of the best Warner Bros. cartoons). Blending action, humor, and a few (thankfully noncloying) songs, this daydream of an adventure from the author of The Jungle Book details the efforts of a frisky mongoose sworn to defend his adopted family from a garden full of cobras. This is bound to fascinate and entertain both kids and adults who are interested in nature's struggles, although parents may wish to watch it with younger children who possess a fear of snakes. --Andrew Wright ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Oh wow!
I first saw this movie like when I was very small (somewhere when I was three to five years old back in the 80's), and had always wanted my own copy. Oooo, how I coveted it. Years passed, and I completely forgot about it. Anyway, when I saw this movie available on VHS, I stared and stared at it for the longest time, and then I remember loving this movie to death when I was a kid, and I went completely bonkers. "I FOUND IT, I FOUND IT!!!!" Quickly, I bought it and took it home. I was wondering "okay, I know I saw this as a kid, but how will I like it now? Will it be bad like other stuff I used to like?" Surprisingly, that certainly was NOT the case. I loved it all over again.

It was better than a Disney movie. The music didn't overshadow the story and plot. Orsen Wells did a fantastic job on narrating the story. Anyway, the story never is boring and predictable either. It's charming, but can be scary to those who are too young to view it. The cobras Nag and Nagaina certainly are hideous (well, in the sense that they're supposed to look that way, not in the sense of animation), and can frighten those who are scared of snakes (this applies to anyone of any age, lol).

The only thing I lament is that it wasn't longer, because I was wanting more. I've bought my copy two days ago, and I've watched it like 15 times already, I think. I've lost count. Anyway, buy this movie. It doesn't matter if you have kids or not. Buy this movie. It doesn't matter if you aren't a kid at heart either, or if you're someone who wouldn't be caught dead watching cartoons. BUY THIS MOVIE! Why? Because if you do, you probably won't have to worry about ejecting it from your VCR after watching it. Just make sure you have a rewind and play button on your remote. That's all you need.

5-0 out of 5 stars FINNALY, AFTER 15 YEARS, I HAVE FOUND IT, WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
I LOVE THIS MOVIE, I GREW UP WITH THE CHUCK JONES' KIPLING SERIES AND I LOVE IT BETTER THAN DISNY WHICH WAS JUST TOO LONG, HIS WERE SHORT AND LEFT ME WANTING MORE. WHEN I WAS LIKE 5 I SAW RIKI-TIKI-TAVI FOR THE FIRST TIME AT MY AUNT'S HOUE, AND EVEN THOUGH I AM DEATHLY TERRIFIED OF SNAKES, I LOVED THIS MOVIE. MY PARENTS SPENT LIKE $50 RENTING THIS MOVIE FROM BLOCKBUSTER THEN FINNALY IT CAME ON NICKALODEAN AND WE RECORDED IT. AFTER TIME, IT WORE OUT, AND WE COULDNT WATCH IT. WHEN I WAS IN 7TH GRADE MY TEACHER MENTIONED THAT WE WERE STUDYING KIPLING AND I GOT EXCITED WHEN SHE TOLD US THAT WE WERE TO WATCH RIKI-TIKI-TAVI. THAT WAS 7 YEARS AGO, AND NOW I'M 20. .... TO THIS DAY I CAN RECITE THAT MOVIE FROM MEMORY, (WHICH CMES IN HANDY WITH MY THEATER CLASS) THE CHARACTERS ARE MEMORABLE AND FANTASTIC AND NAG AND NAGAINA ARE STILL AS CREEPY AS EVER! I RECOMEND THAT CHILDREN NEED TO SEE THESE WORKS OF ART (THE WHITE SEAL, MOWGLII'S BROTHERS).

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for children and parents alike!
This was an absolutly cute movie. A great childs movie, it's also one that parents would love as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Add to your family library
I have such vivid memories of watching this story on TV as a kid. I was so excited when I ran across a battered VHS copy at a garage sale, my kids and I watched it repeatedly despite the poor quality. I'm glad it's still available for purchase.

Some movies/animated shorts that I liked as a child have been a disappointment to me when viewed again as an adult, but Rikki holds up very well. Chuck Jones keeps the animation simple, yet captures enough detail to help you appreciate the beauty and strangeness of these creatures.

Orsen Welles's narration adds a haunting depth to the Rudyard Kipling story - I cannot imagine the video having a fraction of its impact without him. Interestingly, I found the one song in the story not only catchy, but also quite moving. Not bad for a 30-minute TV piece.

Overall, a terrific family video. It's short, adventurous, full of positive messages, and doesn't seem to get old. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rikki
This children's cartoon came out in 1975 ( I was born in 76) and saw it maybe once or twice when I was youger. Then recently I had to go and buy the movie because it was a very cute movie that flashed back my memories of childhood. I love the show and just watching it reminds me of my childhood as that little blondie girl playing barbies and cartoons. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Road Runner is a hero
Road runner is a hero of the great american highway because he does something that we all do, bot don't always get away with.. He speeds. He gets away from the symbolic highway patrol (Coyote) every time... In a sense, the Road Runner and the Coyote chase is played out every day on the American Road. It will be a sad day if the Coyote ever gets the ultimate victory over the Road Runner. The fun will be over for all of us who have enjoyed these great cartoons and driving the american road over the years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great cartoons.
This is a good cartoon collection for all ages. WHOA, BE GONE and GUIDED MUSCLE are both pretty good cartoons. RABBIT'S FEAT includes Wile E. Coyote with Bugs Bunny instead of the Road Runner. He has no better luck with the rabbit than the bird. STOP! LOOK! AND HASTEN! is the first great Road Runner cartoon. HOPALONG CASUALTY is very good. It includes the classic earthquake pills gag. This tape is worth buying to add to your collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic cartoon violence for all ages.
I am a HUGE Coyote fan. It's ashame he looses 99.9% of the time. Not such a good video for coyote fans ( for the obvious reasons ), but still a great cartoon. The one with Bugs is almost unwatchable. This also features one of the first cartoons where Wile E. Coyote talks. "Allow me to introduce myself. Wile E. Coyote, genius.". A must have for any Looney Toons fan. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
I'll explain my 3 star rating by reviewing each cartoon separately:

Quacker Tracker: D
This was made when cartoon budgets were at an all time low. Plus most of the creative talent from their great years were elsewhere.

Double or Mutton: B+
Great Wolf and Sheepdog outing.

Feline Frame-Up: A+
This collection earns 3 stars for this cartoon alone. One of the best cartoons Chuck Jones has ever done.

8 Ball Bunny: A
Bugs rescues a penguin. You can tell Bugs is just walking through this one.

A Fractured Leghorn: A+
A great Foghorn Leghorn cartoon.

Scaredy Cat: A-
Porky and Sylvester stay in a house with mice trying to murder them.

Louvre Come Back to Me: B+
Pepe Le Pew is an excellent character but the jealous boyfriend element in this one slows things down rather than sparking new chemistry. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Loony Toon clips from "crime" cartoons with Bugs and Company
This TV special has Porky Pig hosting ala Alfred Hitchcock a series of clips from classic Warners Bros. "crime" cartoons. Bugs Bunny is the star of most of these clips, but some other cartoon stars are included as well: "Bugs and Thugs" (1954), where Bugs thinks he is getting in to cab but it is really Rocky and Mugsy's getaway car; "Baby Buggy Bunny (1954), finds the midget gangster Baby-Faced Finster pulling a bank robbery and then disguising himself as a baby in a buggy, who Bugs happens to find; "Big House Bunny" (1950), has Bugs burrowing into Sing Song Prison, where (Yosemite) Sam the guard thinks the rabbit is an inmate; "Operation Rabbit" (1952) has a rare pairing of Bugs and Wile E. Coyote, who constructs a flying saucer to help make the rabbit dinner; "Compressed Hare" (1961) offers the Coyote another try at Bugs, this time using a 10,000,000,000-volt electric magnet; "All Abir-r-rd" (1950) has Slyvster after Tweeny again; "Catty Cornered" (1966), is a Tom & Jerry cartoon where getting the mouse out of his hole proves a major problem for Tom and his friend; and "Hare Lift" (1952) bankrobber (Yosemite) Sam makes Bugs fly the world's biggest airplane to help make his escape. "The Bugs Bunny Mystery Special" is not bad for a clip show, but my preference is always going to be for the cartoons in their entirety. The two cartoons with Wile E. Coyote going after Bugs are the best on this tape. But overall these are clips from second level Loony Toons.

5-0 out of 5 stars Five classic Bugs Bunny cartoons from the Forties
"Bugs Bunny: Hollywood Legend" includes five classic Warners Brothers cartoons from the mid-Forties, none of which have anything to do with Tinseltown in terms of the plot: "Hair Raising Hare" (Director Chuck Jones, 1946) has Bugs being chased through mad scientist Peter Lorre's castle by a hairy, orange, monster (wearing sneakers); "Hair Force" (Fritz Freleng, 1944) is not the WWII cartoon with the gremlins, but rather the one where Granny brings Bugs into the house on a cold night and tells her dog to take care of the poor bunny; after she goes to bed the other two take turns throwing each other out into the cold. Non-stop slapstick action in this one; "Hare Tonic" (Jones, 1945) Elmer Fudd heads home from the store with Bugs, intending to make rabbit stew. But then Bugs convinces Elmer he has that most dreaded of all diseases: "Rabbititus"; "A Hare Grows in Manhattan" (Freleng, 1947) finds Bugs telling his life story to a gossip columnist, which focuses on a street fight with a gang of dogs; and "Hare Conditioned" (Jones, 1945), where Bugs is part of a department store window display of a pastoral woodland scene, but one of the store's officials has him targeted for a transfer to the Taxadermy Department. If you are trying to decide if the best Bugs Bunny cartoons were in the Forties or Fifties, this 37-minute video can help you make up your mind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bugs Bunny does it again.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOL funny
This collection of Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote is a classic collection of what everyone remembers from his/her childhood, except that I didn't remember these cartoons as been quite as funny as they actually are. From a grown up perspective, these cartoon are hysterical, and I found myself laughing during the whole video (which was unfortunately too short). My only complaint? - that the video was a bit too short at 37 minutes. I wish that there were more videos of this duo (WB - hint, hint). This video is just plain fun, especially after a hard day. Oh yeah, good for kids, too! :)

3-0 out of 5 stars Taste For The Desert
Chuck Jones creations, Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, still is one of the longest running pair of cartoon chasers in animation history. The Stars From Space Jam collection, still shows that without any acceptions.

The cartoon collection consists of six cartoon the late Chuck Jones, who passed away in February 2002, directed in fullest bloom. His feel for the two is still shown in cartoons like Hook, Line, And Stinker, The Hot-Rod And Reel!, and Fast and Furry-ous.

Considering it is a welcome surprise to any fan. However, if you have Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote: The Classic Chase, and A Salute To Chuck Jones, both from Warner Brothers Golden Jubilee 24 Karat Collection, this collection isn't worth the extra money. Sure it still has good laughs, but five of the six cartoons were featured from the Golden Jubilee Collection. The only one that came to video for the first time is The Hot-Rod And Reel!

Still, this collection of the most unique pair of chasers can always know how to storm up an audience. The Road Runner and Wile. E. Coyote, are still known for that feel in thought.

5-0 out of 5 stars The tape I've been looking for!
This is an excellent choice of classic Road Runner cartoons. All six of these cartoons are restored with sound and picture quality.

GEE WHIZ-Z-Z-Z: How many "z's" does this have in its title. Note that this is the last time Chuck Jones will ever be called Charles M. Jones again. As for this cartoon itself, I'm surprised. This has somehow become a classic, even though there's nothing that special. Other than Coyote's batman impression, no a very special. However, this is the only time a cartoon was ended before Coyote got hurt.

ZOOM AND BORED: On the other hand, this is a great cartoon filled with some great new gags that have never before been done. The quality has never been better before. This a quite worth buying. There's no gags here that have been used before.

FAST AND FURRY-OUS: This is the first roadrunner cartoon ever made, and this is one of the best. The quality has been restored from it's original TV print. This was in desperate need of restorment. A great ending for the first cartoon.

HOOK, LINE, AND STINKER: Notice that both Coyote and the Roadrunner are drawn slightly differently at the beginning. This is another great cartoon, filled with some new ideas.

ZIP 'N' SNORT: The second best Road Runner cartoon next to TO BEEP OR NOT TO BEEP, my favorite. This has some hilarious gags and new ideas. The best Roadrunner cartoons are made in the 1960's and the streak continues here.

HOT ROD AND REEL: Other than copying the dynamite ramp from ZOOM AND BORED, this is a gem, with some great music and a restored soundtrack. This is great.

If you're a Road Runner fan, this tape's for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Road Runner Classics
This is one of my all time favorite Road Runner collections. You should order it now, while it's still on sale. It contains: "Gee Whiz-z-z-z-z-z-z!", "Zoom & Bored", "Fast & Furry-Ous", "Zip 'n' Snort", "Hook, Line, and Stinker", and "Hot-Rod & Reel!". This video contains the best print of "Fast & Furry-Ous", for it is more colorful than the previous dark, crappy print on "The Classic Chase". For this price, buy it now! ... Read more

Virtually everyone knows the holiday stories "A Christmas Carol" and "A Visit from St. Nicholas." Now imagine them as told by Bugs Bunny and acted out by such cartoon favorites as Yosemite Sam, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, and the Tasmanian Devil. Tongue-in-cheek humor, slapstick comedy, animated violence, and belly laughs abound. Ever wonder why Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner always seem to be racing through the desert? Because Road Runner hates the snow! You'd think Coyote would finally gain the upper hand when he stumbles upon that information, but his bad luck perseveres in this snowy episode. 4-0 out of 5 stars Hare-y Christmas, everybody!
If you're going to watch a Looney Tunes TV special (most of which [stink] compared to the true classics that inspired them) watch this. It's great! 3 all new cartoons: "The Fright Before christmas", in which Bugs Bunny and his nephew, Clyde, are awaiting Santa Claus, and end up with Taz instead. "Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol" is a good retelling of "A Christmas Carol", and "Freeze Frame" is a very funny Roadrunner cartoon. Arguably some of the best modern Looney Tunes.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Looney Christmas
The late Friz Freleng does a great job with his retelling of "A Christmas Carol" with Porky as Bob Cratchitt, Bugs Bunny as the Ghost, and Yosemite Sam as Scrooge. 4-0 out of 5 stars Porky Calls
Porky Pig was created in the early to mid 1930's. From that point, he went on to become Warner Brothers very first cartoon superstar.

The 1988 video, Porky Pig Tales, is a collection reflecting the swine at his peak in animation. Each cartoon is as strong as stuttering as you could expect. It contains mainly featured roles opposite Charlie Dog, in Awful Orphan, and his work playing a sidekick with Daffy Duck in My Little Duckaroo and China Jones.

While Porky Pig was written off when Bugs Bunny came into full swing, Porky Pig still was known as one of the greats. This collection still suits it up straight. Oh boy, oh bo...bo..bbb..boy. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars In Spanish, but still good.
This one is a classic. Bugs Bunny finds the easter bunny crying about his sore feet in the woods. He ( being the nice rabbit that he is ) offers to take over. This movie features Elmer Fudd, and a littled red-headed kid that screams "I wanna easter egg!". This is definantly a great Bugs cartoon. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Five early Bugs Bunny cartoons (including the 2nd one)
"Bugs Bunny on Parade" offers up five early Warner Bros. classical cartoons from the early Forties: "Elmer's Pet Rabbit" (Director Chuck Jones, 1941) is the second Bug Bunny cartoon (he complains about having to eat carrots), with Elmer buying the rabbit in the window at the Pet Store and taking him home, only to discover Bugs is not an ideal pet; "Buckaroo Bugs" (Bob Clampett, 1944) finds Bugs stealing carrots as the Masked Maurader, who is being hunted by Red Hot Ryder, a sort of Brooklyn cowboy; "Super Rabbit" (Jones 1943) is my favorite of this quintet. An obvious spoof of Superman and the Fleischer studio's cartoons, this one find Bugs being given super carrots by Professor Canafrazz and then going off as Super Rabbit to fight Cottontail Smith, the notorious rabbit hater from Texas; "Jack Wabbit & The Beanstalk" (Fritz Freleng, 1943) offers another parody, as Bugs takes on the big bad giant in the sky; and "Hold the Lion, Please" (Jones, 1942) find the king of the jungle having to prove he still has it by going rabbit hunting. Unfortunately the rabbit he chooses to hunt is Bug, who might well end up being the king of beasts by the end of this one. This early cartoons are more interesting from a historical perspective, as they give you a sense of the evolution of the character, rather than representing the best Bugs Bunny cartoons of that era. You also examples on one videotape from all three of the major directors who worked with the rabbit in his famous career.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bugs looses ( sort of )
I am a big Bugs fan, and this one kind of dissapointed me. This is a spoof of Superman where Bugs eats super-carrots for his power. He keeps them in cigar case that he carries in his mock-up Superman outfit ( which is too big for him ). They even do the "change into the super hero via phone-booth" thing going on. A decent Bugs video, not as good as others though. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Politically Incorrect!
"Private Snafu" was intended as a training-guide for American soldiers during World War Two. ("Snafu" meaning Situation Normal All F...ed Up!) It also provided "training" for some of Warner Brothers' greatest cartoon talents. Many sight-gags, jokes, & plots used in later Warner's cartoons of the late '40's & 50's were actually lifted from the "Snafu" cartoons. (The TNT in the piano gag used in several Bugs Bunny cartoons & the air-force made of mosquitos are examples of "swipes" from "Private Snafu.") There's a great deal of satire in the writing as well, thanks to Ted "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, who actually wrote most of the scripts.

There's historical significance as well. These cartoons, uncensored, reflect the attitudes America had of the Axis at that time. Many of the words & descriptions would be deemed offensive by today's standards, but it's important to remember the times & the context from which these were made. (It's also important to remember that for every negative stereotype Americans held towards the Germans, Italians, & most especially the Japanese, the Axis held towards Americans, as well as the British, the Chinese, & the Russians!) I"m Asian-American by descent & though if I were to see Asians (actually, in Snafu's case, Japanese, since China was on "our" side) stereo-typed today the way they were in the Snafu cartoons, I would be offended. However, watching the way they're drawn in these (period-specific) cartoons...well, it's kind of funny! (It's a guilty pleasure! And again, let me repeat, this was war! I've seen Axis propaganda & they didn't pull any punches when it came to Americans!)

The animation is excellent. However, since these cartoons were intended for soldiers, they are not recommended viewing for children! (Besides the racial stereo-types, there's plenty of suggestive dialogue & situations. Funny stuff, as long as you're over 10 years old!) However, if you're a cartoon fan, a historian, or if you just like a good (guilty) laugh (& there's lots of that!), then this series is definately recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars cartoons go to war
I don't know about you, but I'm fascinated by these propaganda cartoons of the early 40's, and I can't help but wonder what the axis would have done if they had placed as much value on animation as Hollywood did. This tape stands up to repeated viewing. I would highly recommend this tape to anyone with an interest in vintage cartoons. ...

A must have for any Looney Toons fan. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bugs at his best!
This collection features many of the best Bugs Bunny cartoons, including:

HAREDEVIL HARE (the one where Bugs meets MARVIN THE MARTIAN on the moon)

EASTER YEGGS (the one where Elmer wants to make "Easter Wabbit Stew" out of Bugs (the "Easter Bunny")

ACROBATTY BUNNY (the one where Bugs is on the trapeze)

RACKETEER RABBIT (where Bugs is captured by gangsters Rocky and Hugo)

FALLING HARE (where Bugs is a fighter pilot)

THE HARE-BRAINED HYPNOTIST (an absolute classic)

4-0 out of 5 stars A Decent Elmer Collection
Not all the entries are great but there is enough greatness to make this collection worth while. "What Makes Daffy Duck" by Arthur Davis and "The Hare-Brained Hypnotist" by Friz Freleng are the best ones for sure. Also, for all the animation buffs, the first Elmer Fudd cartoon "Elmer's Candid Camera" by Chuck Jones is included. ... Read more
