5-0 out of 5 stars Oh wow!
I first saw this movie like when I was very small (somewhere when I was three to five years old back in the 80's), and had always wanted my own copy. Oooo, how I coveted it. Years passed, and I completely forgot about it. Anyway, when I saw this movie available on VHS, I stared and stared at it for the longest time, and then I remember loving this movie to death when I was a kid, and I went completely bonkers. "I FOUND IT, I FOUND IT!!!!" Quickly, I bought it and took it home. I was wondering "okay, I know I saw this as a kid, but how will I like it now? Will it be bad like other stuff I used to like?" Surprisingly, that certainly was NOT the case. I loved it all over again.

It was better than a Disney movie. The music didn't overshadow the story and plot. Orsen Wells did a fantastic job on narrating the story. Anyway, the story never is boring and predictable either. It's charming, but can be scary to those who are too young to view it. The cobras Nag and Nagaina certainly are hideous (well, in the sense that they're supposed to look that way, not in the sense of animation), and can frighten those who are scared of snakes (this applies to anyone of any age, lol).

The only thing I lament is that it wasn't longer, because I was wanting more. I've bought my copy two days ago, and I've watched it like 15 times already, I think. I've lost count. Anyway, buy this movie. It doesn't matter if you have kids or not. Buy this movie. It doesn't matter if you aren't a kid at heart either, or if you're someone who wouldn't be caught dead watching cartoons. BUY THIS MOVIE! Why? Because if you do, you probably won't have to worry about ejecting it from your VCR after watching it. Just make sure you have a rewind and play button on your remote. That's all you need.

5-0 out of 5 stars FINNALY, AFTER 15 YEARS, I HAVE FOUND IT, WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
I LOVE THIS MOVIE, I GREW UP WITH THE CHUCK JONES' KIPLING SERIES AND I LOVE IT BETTER THAN DISNY WHICH WAS JUST TOO LONG, HIS WERE SHORT AND LEFT ME WANTING MORE. WHEN I WAS LIKE 5 I SAW RIKI-TIKI-TAVI FOR THE FIRST TIME AT MY AUNT'S HOUE, AND EVEN THOUGH I AM DEATHLY TERRIFIED OF SNAKES, I LOVED THIS MOVIE. MY PARENTS SPENT LIKE $50 RENTING THIS MOVIE FROM BLOCKBUSTER THEN FINNALY IT CAME ON NICKALODEAN AND WE RECORDED IT. AFTER TIME, IT WORE OUT, AND WE COULDNT WATCH IT. WHEN I WAS IN 7TH GRADE MY TEACHER MENTIONED THAT WE WERE STUDYING KIPLING AND I GOT EXCITED WHEN SHE TOLD US THAT WE WERE TO WATCH RIKI-TIKI-TAVI. THAT WAS 7 YEARS AGO, AND NOW I'M 20. .... TO THIS DAY I CAN RECITE THAT MOVIE FROM MEMORY, (WHICH CMES IN HANDY WITH MY THEATER CLASS) THE CHARACTERS ARE MEMORABLE AND FANTASTIC AND NAG AND NAGAINA ARE STILL AS CREEPY AS EVER! I RECOMEND THAT CHILDREN NEED TO SEE THESE WORKS OF ART (THE WHITE SEAL, MOWGLII'S BROTHERS).

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for children and parents alike!
This was an absolutly cute movie. A great childs movie, it's also one that parents would love as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Add to your family library
I have such vivid memories of watching this story on TV as a kid. I was so excited when I ran across a battered VHS copy at a garage sale, my kids and I watched it repeatedly despite the poor quality. I'm glad it's still available for purchase.

Some movies/animated shorts that I liked as a child have been a disappointment to me when viewed again as an adult, but Rikki holds up very well. Chuck Jones keeps the animation simple, yet captures enough detail to help you appreciate the beauty and strangeness of these creatures.

Orsen Welles's narration adds a haunting depth to the Rudyard Kipling story - I cannot imagine the video having a fraction of its impact without him. Interestingly, I found the one song in the story not only catchy, but also quite moving. Not bad for a 30-minute TV piece.

Overall, a terrific family video. It's short, adventurous, full of positive messages, and doesn't seem to get old. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rikki
This children's cartoon came out in 1975 ( I was born in 76) and saw it maybe once or twice when I was youger. Then recently I had to go and buy the movie because it was a very cute movie that flashed back my memories of childhood. I love the show and just watching it reminds me of my childhood as that little blondie girl playing barbies and cartoons. ... Read more

Chuck Jones directed some of the funniest shorts in the history offilmmaking, and this 1979 feature-length compilation includes several of hisbest cartoons. Among the 11 shorts shown in their entirety are the classicsRobin Hood Daffy, What's Opera, Doc?, Bully for Bugs, andDuck Amuck, which remain as hilarious as they were when first releasedalmost 50 years ago. As with any collection, the viewer wonders why some filmswere included and others omitted: Why Hare-way to the Stars andOperation: Rabbit, but not Rabbit of Seville or A Bear forPunishment? Nor is the material always shown to its best advantage: LongHaired Hare has, unfortunately, been cut, and combining footage from severalRoad Runner shorts into a 20-minute montage weakens the pacing Jonesbuilt into the individual films. These caveats aside, The Bugs Bunny RoadRunner Movie provides a showcase not only for Jones's razor-sharp timing, but for the work of his exceptional crew, which included designer Maurice Noble, writer Mike Maltese, composers Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn, and voice actorMel Blanc. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the five fully animated Looney Tunes movies
Chuck Jones' The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie came out in September of 1979. Chuck Jones directed some of the funniest shorts in the history of filmmaking, and this 1979 feature-length compilation includes many of his best cartoons. Among the 11 shorts shown in their entirety are the classics Hare Way to the Stars, Robin Hood Daffy, Duck Amuck(quite possibly the greatest cartoon ever made), Ali Baba Bunny, Bully for Bugs and What's Opera Doc? which are still hilarious as they were when first released well over 50 years ago. However, some viewers questioned why other greats like Rabbit of Seville were deleted. Amongst the classic cartoons is some new animation of Bugs from Chuck Jones recalling his exploits with Daffy, Marvin Martian, Elmer Fudd and Wile E. Coyote whom also has a confrontation with The Road Runner in a 20 minute montage which was also great as well. Also, the wascally wabbit's explanations of chases was hysterical. Also, the beginning credits and ending credits were funny with the That's All Folks trying to curtail the movie at start and near the end and Bugs getting irked and puts a NOT or a NOT QUITE between That's All. At the end, Bugs sits on the WB logo smiling saying "Eat Your Heart Out Boit Reynolds" and That's Really All Folks!. This movie is highly recommended!

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Of The Bugs Bunny Movies!
Very dull, seems like it lasts forever. Trust me here people, you'll be shutting this one off, ten minutes into it. Yes, it's that bad!
You wanna see a good movie, then go buy or rent Gigli. Totally brilliant!!!!
Avoid.
Pogo has spoken!

5-0 out of 5 stars Top-notch, it should only be released on DVD
Shortly after this came out, the media was swamped with well-meaning attacks on the violence in children's programming, much of which was directed at such classic cartoons as featured here - clearly a wrong-headed knee-jerk reaction gone too far. Perhaps that is why WB never re-released it on DVD. As it is, it is a prized member of my VHS collection, but I'd really like a newer one.

On the other hand, what I wouldn't like is the politically correct editing that started appearing in WB cartoon anthologies released after this one. For that alone, I despair of ever seeing this released in its original form again. In a post-Columbine world, I suppose such temerity is to be expected, but it's simply wrong to butcher such masterpieces of the animators' art.

But enough about that...

This is, to me the definitive WB cartoons. The only thing that could have improved it was more of the same, plus some other often overlooked characters such as the 3 bears. I've always been a huge fan of the late Chuck Jones and his Roadrunner cartoons in particular. This video has (almost?) all of them, grouped to run sequentially. As previously noted, some of the cartoons included here are on other WB collections, where their questionable editing for content is quite evident.

If you're an adult who can realize that when Wile E. Coyote falls 2000 feet, followed by an anvil, what's on display are Chuck Jones' artistry and comic genius rather than anything remotely related to reality, the you're in the target demographic. Let's face it, these cartoons with their somewhat dated references don't belong to the Columbine generation, they belong to us old-timers who grew up with them - and we deserve to be able to see them.

And that, succinctly, is what this is - the best of the best, without a post-modern social conscience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anyone who gives this 1 star is loonier than the movie!
Chuck Jones is a master and has the funniest cartoons ever created. Bugs Bunny narrates this hilariously looney movie. This tape includes:

DUCK AMUCK-- An absolute classic! One of the best cartoons ever made! And that's HIGH praise!

WHAT'S OPERA DOC?-- Just as good! One of Bugs Bunny's finest performances, not to mention Elmer Fudd's!

DUCK DODGERS IN THE 24TH 1/2 CENTURY-- This is so funny, every second of it has you laughing at something else, if it doesn't than your still laughing at the last gag! Cartoon Network made a TV show about Duck Dodgers and it's really funny but not close to being as funny as this!

HARE-WAY TO THE STARS-- One of Marvin the Martian's funniest performance. It is topped by DUCK DODGERS IN THE 24TH 1/2 CENTURY but Daffy provides most of the laughs in THAT one.

ALI BABA BUNNY-- Every cartoon in this is funny! And this one is no exception. It is FUNNY!!!!!!

ROBIN HOOD DAFFY-- "I'm Robin Hood, and I'm very good at avoiding the sherrif's eye!" Or so Daffy says. But Porky Pig is not convinced that he's who he says he is. This biggest hoot is the gag where Daffy is swinging down to the Sherrif and planning to steal his gold, but he bumps into every tree there. Another one of the best parts is the end.

Not to mention all the Road Runner cartoons in it!
The only complaint I have is where Bugs is naming his "FATHERS" and included are: Tex Avery, Robert Mckimson, Friz Freleng and Chuck Jones. And that's all fine and dandy! But what about Bob Clampett??? He did as much as the others! And Ben Hardaway may not have directed too many cartoons with the hare (two, actually) but he was the original creator of Bugs and so she be included as one of Bugs' fathers.
Buy this! That's all I have left to say! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AN UNFORGETTABLE MASTERPEICE
I remember when I first viewed this movie, having never had heard of the book or such a concept. I guess I was young then and wasn't expected to know anything about it anyhow, but I did remember enough so that I was on a three year search trying to find the Phantom Tollbooth...finally I realized the magic of the Internet. The Phantom Tollbooth is not only an educational film, inbreeding knowledgeable information through adventures experienced with Milo in Digitopolis, Dictionopolis, the Land of Expectations and the Castle in the Air, but also it is enjoyable to watch and be submerged in. It definitely is on my top ten list of movies, and I think it always will be. Chuck Jones's masterpiece is really a movie everyone, young and old, should own and love.

2-0 out of 5 stars Much better as a book
This lifeless adaptation of the classic children's book is only notable as one of Chuck Jones few feature efforts. Just try not to fast forward as Milo drives back and forth changing from cartoon to real. We get it already! The songs are extremely dated, but if you like the choral style of the late 60s, you might get a grin out of "What's to Become of Milo."

5-0 out of 5 stars A childhood favorite!
A boy named "Milo" ( Butch Patrick from The Munsters) is bored with school life and wants to be somewhere far away, but unfortunately he gets his wish come true as he finds a mysterious huge box in his room that unlocks a magic tollbooth. He also gets a car which takes him to an animated world beyond his wildest imagination, he joins up with two new pals " Tock" and " Humbug" on a quest through the world beyond to save two princess in the castle of the air from demons.

A highly entertaining and brilliant animated fantasy from animation maestro Chuck Jones with wonderful animation and is faithful to the brilliant original novel. It's also a very entertaining, provocitive and fun animated movie for both kids and adults.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disloyal to the text - a real disappointment
I'd read the book to my daughter before getting the video, and I looked forward to a true rendering of the book. What we saw was a travesty - the filmmakers took tremendous liberties with the spirit of the text and I felt that we were seeing a completely different story - and it wasn't one bit interesting. It took forever for the plot to begin; the filmmakers seemed to be having more fun showing off the "gimmick" of moving between real images and animation, but it got to be obnoxious and wasteful - where's the story? Stick with the book... maybe someone will come up with a better film version. (For the record, I'm not against all filmed versions of book: I love the films of Charlotte's Web, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - renamed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for film - and the Harry Potter films.) ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Wish they'd make a better version!
I am a teacher who reads this book to my class every year. I show the movie and this is a terrible version. They leave out almost the whole story, and change the rest. It is such a great book and I think they could have done a better job on the video. I am always hoping a newer and better version is made.

5-0 out of 5 stars You won't be disappointed!
This is a great video. My three year old loves it and takes it to her day-care to share with her friends there. It's a wonderful story and the art is adorable. Of course, I love it too, and remember it well from my own childhood. Still a joy to watch.

Description

Since his 1949 cartoon debut, Wile E. Coyote has been successful at one thing:failure. The source of his constant frustration is that speed demon of the desert, the Road Runner.

Legendary animation director Chuck Jones put two of his greatest creations back on the road in their first animated theatrical short in 30 years in CHARIOTS OF FUR, debuting on video.BEEP, BEEP takes a dizzy fur-vs.-fowl spin through a mine shaft. OPERATION: RABBIT (mis)matches Wile E. with that smoothest of all operators, Bugs Bunny.Next, Wile E. falls HOOK, LINE AND STINKER for his own chain-reaction contraption.Sam Sheepdog thwarts furry-ous Ralph Wolf in READY, WOOLEN AND ABLE.But in ZIP 'N' SNORT, there's light at the end of the tunnel for Wile E.Or is there? All which proves an old Coyote can't learn new tricks, not as long as the Road Runner's around anyway! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good collection.
This is a great collection of Looney Tunes made by The Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. It includes the brand new cartoon, CHARIOTS OF FUR (1994) which suprisingly turned out to be a great cartoon, unlike CARROTBLANCA. This collection also includes 5 more cartoons. This includes OPERATION RABBIT (1951), one of five cartoons made with Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote. Interestingly, this was made before BEEP, BEEP (1952), the second Road Runner cartoon ever. It basically uses the Coyote from FAST AND FURRY-OUS (1949). READY, WOOLEN, AND ABLE (1960) is the best cartoon starring Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheep Dog. I guess this is on this tape because Ralph Wolf is a form of Wile E. BEEP BEEP & HOOK, LINE, AND STINKER (1958) are also great cartoons. ZIP 'N' SNORT (1961) is the second best Road Runner cartoon ever, next to TO BEEP OR NOT TO BEEP (1963) of course. The only complaint I have is that other than the brand new cartoon, the other five are on ROAD RUNNER VS. WILE E. COYOTE: THE CLASSIC CHASE. But if you want ... better quality, buy this!

2-0 out of 5 stars Beep Beep
Chuck Jones continues to entertain new audiences with the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. Chariots of fur is an blend of his final cartoon with the duo. I found it to be very exciting. If you have Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote The Classic Chase from Warner Bros. Golden Jubiliee 24 Karat collection, this video might not be for you. The other five cartoons actually appear on that video; Zip N' Snort, Operation: Rabbit, Hook, Line and Stinker, Beep Beep, and Ready, Woolen and Able. Otherwise this is an very nice cartoon video collection for kids of all ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best Warner cartoon videos out there!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a great movie with a great finale!
I used to rent this movie and used to pretend the fake wishing well at the water store was the well in this movie. I like the finale when after the last three wishes are used, the well says, "And now I say without the jokes-Th Th That's all folks!" Sometimes I say that when I complete a collection, it is cuter than just saying the famous line, "Th th That's all folks!"

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic!
I absolutely love this movie. I remember the first time I saw it in the early 80's. I never forgot it. I was five or six when I saw it. I didn't know that it was a film and searched the web until I found it. What I remember most is that sooo many cartoon characters were in it. It was an "all-star" cast. I am happy to have found it and will be happy to share it with my children one day. I think it's a classic!

3-0 out of 5 stars Bugs was always better.
This movie isn't so bad. It has Daffy and Speedy Gonzales running a hotel ( Speedy even says "De plane boss, de plane" ). Lots of cartoon characters show up and put money into a magic well, wishing for something to happen. Basically, it's a movie made of classic Looney Toons episodes. A decent movie, but not as good as Bugs. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A top 10 Favorite growing up!
I saw this when I was 12 and bought the laserdisc about ten years ago. All I can say is, it's a great animated special that will appeal to all ages.

The image that sticks out most is when the seal is swimming under this secret ocean tunnel to another world...pure magic.

5-0 out of 5 stars I remember the title now!!
Okay, I've seen this movie like when I was less than 5 years old, but because I have a photographic visual memory I could remember every graphical artistic details of this movie! I remember specifically the beginning of this movie where the seals fight for their lives against the killer men. It had such an impact on me that I grew up to become an animal lover. The white seal is so cute! I, especially remember the ending too because I grew up in Florida where there were many manatees and it was illegal to harm them in any way. In the end, the white seal follows the manatee to this beautiful peaceful volcano-like island. There he knew he was safe from harm and could be in peace with the rest of the sea animals. It's a really great movie because it has a wonderful story to it. It teaches kids to become animal lovers. That's a promise.

4-0 out of 5 stars My kids like it...I can watch it, too.
I never remember seeing this as a child. I watched LOTS of television, too. I do enjoy Chuck Jones, and you can certainly see a few of his touches throughout this movie, even if you don't really try to find them. The movie is okay, but not the best thing I have ever seen in my life. A little sappy, and only 30 minutes long. I really like the Bugs Bunny stuff better, but I gave it 4 stars because my kids really do like it, and sometimes you don't have time for a 90 minute movie (especially near bedtime!) if they ask to watch "one more" this (or Rikki Tikki Tavi) is a fine choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enchanting
I saw this show on TV eons ago.

It's the story of a sweet little white seal, Kotick, seen as an oddity by his fellows, but definitely not inferior. Because of his aloneness, Kotick sees more around him than the others, and must attempt to save them from seal-hunters.

There's a sweet little substory about Kotick's relationship with his father--you'll want to kick Dad at the beginning, and give him a friendly whap on the head at the end.

An adorable little cartoon that won't make you throw up! (A rarity, no?)

4-0 out of 5 stars great for children!
I would make mom rent this one over and over as a child, and she's never let me forget it! I saw this along with Rikki-Tikki-Tavi and Pamper the Penguin. If you know anything about those two movies you'll know what The White Seal is like. It's one of those movies every child should see. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Classic
This movie is great for all ages. If you enjoy the movie try reading the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lovely story of belonging and the power of music.

3-0 out of 5 stars Acme Anvils And Aches
When I found out Chuck Jones passed away late February, my heart broke. In my opinion, he was the greatest animator of all time. His most famous pair, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, has captured audiences of all ages left and right.

The 1993 video Crash Couse, reflects on some fantastic cartoons that were created by the animation pioneer. The cartoon collection continues the neverending chase in many exciting cartoons like Hip Hip Hurry, Scrambled Aches and Ready, Set, Zoom!

In dedication to Chuck Jones, his famous pair, Road Runner and Coyote, still captures the hearts of millions. And that is what makes this crash course so great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beep Beep! Is The Word As Wile E. Lives Up To Santayana
"A fanatic is someone who redoubles his effort when he hasforgotten his aim." So the words of George Santayana are cited byChuck Jones to explain the outlook on life that Wile E. Coyote possesses. Certainly Wile E's fanaticism leads consistently to engaging cartoon antics in this ultimate chase drama.

Of the five cartoons on this tape, my favorites are "There They Go-Go-Go," "Hip Hip Hurry!" and "Scrambled Aches."

"There They Go-Go-Go's" score is immortalized on Warner Records' The Carl Stalling Project, and it is a totally different experience seeing this cartoon and hearing the score when able to differentiate the many nuances covered up by sound effects. The cartoon's gags, sound effects (especially the distinctive deep-throated rocket roar when the Road Runner flies past), and attractive, UPA-influenced stylized backgrounds also are winners.

"Hip Hip Hurry!" was filmed during a musicians' strike at Warner Brothers, so stock music cues used on such shows as The Adventures Of Superman and The Donna Reed Show (I think they came from Gordon Zahler's company; these cues were also used by Hanna-Barbera in the early years of their television work) were assembled by John Seely. This "canned" score has been unfairly criticized by Leonard Maltin and by Jeff Beck & Will Friedwald, for it works quite well, and in this case adds an unexpected and genuine dramatic tension to the proceedings, especially in the thunderous closing gag when Wile E. downs a huge container of speed juice that he can't control.

"Scrambled Aches" opens with a surprisingly well-edited scene of the Road Runner escaping and then Wile E. plunging off a cliff. Three other gags stand out here - Wile E. rides a rocket that gives him two close shaves (Treg Brown makes excellent use of the above-mentioned deep rocket roar effect here); he uses a balloon to drop an anvil on the Road Runner on a cliffside bridge (here Jones, his animators, and designer Maurice Noble use size and atmosphere to splendid effect); finally Wile E., using a motorized paving roll, corners the Road Runner into a cannon, but it appears to be a train tunnel instead.

Chuck Jones stands with Ray Harryhausen and Tex Avery as one of America's three greatest animators. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A good collection.
This video features 6 uncut Bugs Bunny cartoons. The first is "From Hare to Eternity," which was a cartoon directed by Chuck Jones in 1995 as a tribute to the great cartoon director Friz Freleng who passed away that year. It is a good cartoon even though Chuck Jones was passed his prime. It just went to show that Chuck was never too old to make a good cartoon. The only thing I really didn't like about the cartoon were the vocal talents (or lack thereof). I'm afraid I really just don't like anyone but Mel Blanc providing the voices of Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny. If you don't either, then you may not care for this cartoon as much as you would the others on this video: High Diving Hare (another Bugs/Sam toon), Bully for Bugs (featuring Bugs as a matador), Rabbit Fire (Bugs/Daffy/Elmer classic), My Bunny Lies Over the Sea (Bugs vs. Scot in a game of golf), and Ballot Box Bunny (Bugs and Sam run for mayor). Again, all of these classic cartoons are uncut, but this is especially noteworthy considering High Diving Hare and Ballot Box Bunny are frequently edited on TV.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buggs Bunny is a given 5-star performance!
For a cartoon, Buggs is enjoyable at any age. IN this episode, Buggs and Yosemite Sam are at war. Yosemite is a nasty pirate trying to keep Buggs from stealing his treasure. Ar. But, fear not, a good hare never gives in! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment
This was one of 5 movies I ordered for my grandchildren. What a disappointment. The movie is 30 minutes long and not really a movie. More like "cliff notes" version of what the story is. I guess I missed reading the write up of what this is, I expected a movie for the kids. Never again

5-0 out of 5 stars My 7 Year Old Loves It
This is a very good adaptation of the Kipling story. It is told in a strong and vivid way.

My children both like the Disney "Jungle Book," but that didn't prevent them from taking to this at once. My seven year old boy has watched it nearly every day since getting it. He even took it to school to have his class watch it.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the few good adaptations
As with Riki-Tiki Tavi, Chuck Jones once again made a masterpiece. Unlike the Disney-ized version, this goes along very well with the original story. Great animation and story telling. Bagherra has always been my favorite Jungle Book character and his scene with Mowgli, talking about "men's tears" was great! This is a must have! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Movie
In case anyone didnt know, this is an animated film made in the late 80s. Daffy Duck inherets money from his rich uncle and starts a ghost hunting company with Bugs and Porky. Although Daffy is the star, all the classic WB characters apear in this film. This is a pretty good movie, as it combines a bunch of classic Warner Bros cartoons together into one story with new animation. The new footage is nicely animated, although the difference between it and the old cartoons are quite noticable. However, the writers do a good job of making tons of old cartoons flow together as one story.
This is a good movie, but it is by no means "one of the best animated movies of all time" as other reviewers have said. Its a good movie of course and it entertains, but it is not a classic animated feature. Why, it has no comparision by the countless classic Disney features released decades before this. But if you take it for what it is, you will enjoy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finest Animated Film of All Time!!!!
This is not only the best Loony Toons film, but quite possibly the best animated film of all time!!! I remember when this movie first came out in 1988, I rented it CONSTANTLY until my parents finally bought it for me. I have gone through several copies and am waiting for my latest copy to arrive in the mail. This is THE BEST movie ever!!! It is hilarious and GREAT for halloween coming up!! Buy this movie! It rocks!

4-0 out of 5 stars Lazy, but Still Worth While
This movie is lazy because there isn't much new footage, but it's OK because the shorts they put in it are pretty good.

5-0 out of 5 stars DAFFY DAFFY DAFFY DAFFY DAFFY!
This is my favorite Daffy Duck movie. It all start like this a millionaire leaves Daffy money but he must use the money for good and needs to provide a service to people and if Daffy thinks of selfish aims the millionaire (ghost) will make the money disappear so Daffy opens an exorcism agency and Porky, Bugs, and Sylvester work with him and they have to attend cases of ghosts and monsters in a very original way I really recommend this video why WB doesn't start releasing classics like this on DVD, Fantastic Island (Daffy's First Movie 1983), Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie, The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie and all of those cartoons on video I'm sure that many kids will buy at as many other adults trying to remember their childhood.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST FULL-LENGTH ANIMATED MOVIE FROM WB!
This is one of the best if not the best full-length animated movie from Warner Brothers Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety and Sylvester open a kind of ghostbuster agency and try to solve some cases really really good I would even dare to say an Animated Classic. ...

It's one of those movies every child should see. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Witch Hazel is no match for Bugs Bunny!
"Bugs Bunny's Howl-Oween Special" is one hilarious cartoon telvision program. Great treat for young and old alike who love Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, and that hair pin-losing witch Witch Hazel. I own it, and must have watched it over 40 times in the last 3 years. Hilarious when Witch Hazel turns into a vampire and Bugs says "Abra Cadabra" and the vampire becomes a bat, and Bugs doesn't realize it. Bugs is sitting up in bed, and sees the bat flying across close by. He says, "Golly! What big mosquitoes they have around here. Hold still, you little devil." He smashes it on the floor. The bat manages to get up and fly out of the window. Bugs, reading the book on magic words and phrases, says "Hocus Pocus". The bat transforms back into the vampire and falls into the water below. This is just a sample of the hilarity in this video. Sounds good? Why not? You'll be spooked up in far amounts...in hilarity, that is. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

2-0 out of 5 stars Who hacked up the cartoons??
I really want to know what happened to the ORIGINAL version I saw when I was child, on television???? This has SOME of the bits and pieces, but in my opinion, has been poorly 'sewn' together into a mockery of the first TV Special. Am I the only one who can tell where the cartoon has been pieced together due to poor colour matching and voices? I am disappointed, as I had hoped I found THE original cartoon I so loved when I was young.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bugs!
Bugs Bunny at his finest hour the video start like this Bugs Bunny is trick or treating and goes to the house of the witch (I don't remember her name but the only witch that appears on these cartoons) he's costume is of a witch and when he appears at her door she thinks he is a witch but then he takes the costume off well i'm not going to write the whole story I just recommend this video I have probably seen it 10 times it's very good try to see it at least once in your life. ... Amazon.com essential video

This all-time classic now has Horton Hears a Who! on the samevideo for a great double bill.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
To heck with the kids--this is one of the best holiday presents you can give yourself. Adapted from the children's book byDr. Seuss, this charming story is one to watch every holiday season. It is just edgy enough to help you forget the more cloying aspects of Christmas, yet it is also sweet enough to remind you of the reason for all that holiday cheer. Animation genius Chuck Jones directed this 1966 television production featuring the voice of Boris Karloff as the mean greenie. Bitter and selfish, the Grinch decides to steal Christmas away from the Whos, the sweet little folk who live at the bottom of his mountain home. When little Cindy Loo Who returns his hateful act with kindness, she melts the old miser's heart. There are many reasons to watch this: inventive wordplay, Karloff's impressive narration, and a very memorable soundtrack. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Horton Hears a Who!
Chuck Jones was chief animator on this lively adaptation of the famous book by Dr. Seuss. The story of a friendly elephant named Horton who discovers--deep inside a daisy--a tiny city called Whoville with tiny, intelligent residents--this film (fleshed out a bit from the source) is strong on character and has striking, appealing visuals. The little folks of Whoville, with their natural air of aristocracy, are a kick, and when they come to see Horton as a hero for his democratic view of all life big and small, the effect is quite touching. This should be a real treat for kids already familiar with the book, and just might inspire those who haven't read it to pick it up. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Christmas classic...
Over the past few days, I've gotten into the Christmas spirit (already; as of this review, it's only mid-November), so I figured I'd review one of my favorite holiday memories now available on DVD.

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is undeniably my favorite animated Christmas special. A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph and Frosty are great, of course, but the Grinch is the cream of the crop. Wonderful narration by Boris Karloff, immaculate animation and that special "Christmas vibe" you get when you're watching or listening to something really special; what's not to like? This is an essential piece of holiday history for your collection.

There's nothing I can really say to make you buy this disc; you've seen it by now and chances are, unless you're the Grinch himself, you absolutely adore it. What I can say is that this particular DVD makes an already perfect Christmas special even better. Not only do you get a few wonderful features that deal with the making of the the Grinch and a few fun games for the kids, but also "Horton Hears a Who," another wonderful cartoon made by animation genius, Chuck Jones.

The review written by Amazon.com summed it up perfectly with just one sentence - this is one of the best Christmas gifts you can get for YOURSELF.

5-0 out of 5 stars You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch !
Since I was 12 years old I have looked forward to seeing the annual telecast of How the Grinch Stole Christmas on tv. Now that I own the video I have watched this ageless animated classic so many times I've had to replace the video twice ! The main character is the Grinch - he's lean and green and OH SO MEAN ! But he has a charm all his own and he decides to steal Christmas away from the sweet little folks in Whoville so he won't have to tolerate their singing and happiness. He steals their trees and toys and decorations -- even their Who Roast Beast and the last can of Who Hash ! But still the spunky little Who folk celebrate Christmas by holding hands and singing joyfully. I get a lump in my throat EVERY time the moment comes where the Grinch realizes he HASN'T stolen Christmas after all. Christmas is a season of the heart -- you can't buy it in a store or hang it on a tree. Buy the video and share this wonderful classic with anyone from age 2 to 92 ! I guarantee they will love it. I am 43 years old and I plan to watch it again when I go home from work today. Just writing this review makes me want to enjoy the video all over again !

1-0 out of 5 stars And all the viewers cried "boo who who who"....
Everything you read is true! This Grinch is yellow and drab. The disk lacks the wonderful bright colors that everyone has a right to expect when buying the DVD version of a TV special they could see every year for free. Not that there is anything wrong with original--it's fabulous, 5-stars as far as Christmas specials go. But this version is thoroughly ruined by bad mastering. Wait for the re-release. Don't get caught! The correction is probably on its way and you can be sure they won't sneak it out--it will have new packaging, probably some new extras, and be clearly marked "remastered".

If you own the DVD and have your doubts (some reviewers seem to), try this: Take a look at the documentary extra hosted by Troy McClure. Throughout the documentary, they run clips of the Grinch in the background where the color is RIGHT! A beautiful bright-green Grinch--just like you remember. Compare that to the main feature (the thing you actually paid for), where he is washed out and nearly yellow.

After living 15 years in Denmark I really came to miss some of the Christmas specials from my youth in the USA. I suppose anybody in the US with cable gets quite sick of these, but for me, the Grinch and Charlie Brown's Christmas were always an important part of building the Christmas spirit. Well, the spirit here seems to be all about greed and incompetence; sell the defective version this year, then sell the corrected version to the same people next year.

5-0 out of 5 stars A CLASSIC CLASSIC!
This is just one of the great holiday classics from the sixties. A true holiday treat that never goes out of style. Also a true classic treat from the seventies "Horton hears a who". A must for any collector. The air dates for the Grinch from the sixties are as follow.
CBS 7:00 - 7:30 Sunday 12/18/66
CBS 7:00 - 7:30 Sunday 12/17/67
CBS 7:00 - 7:30 Sunday 12/22/68
CBS 7:30 - 8:00 Sunday 12/21/69
Buy it, a Christmas treat for always.

4-0 out of 5 stars As Dour as You Want to Be
One of Christmas specials' enduring images is Max the dog, done up like a reindeer trudging up the mountain hauling the enormous bag of presents and trees. After not having seen this in quite some time, and not since Jim Carrey's version, it was great to return to one of Chuck Jones' masterpieces. As the marvelous Boris Karloff narrates, the Grinch comes to life reminding us that he was considerably more dour initially than the wild barely contained slapstick Carrey brought to the table. The famous Grinch song moves us slowly along like a black sludge as the Grinch endeavors to steal the commercial trappings of Christmas from the Who village. In the end, of course, good triumphs and the Grinch repents his ways and gets the picture of the holidays as a 'feeling' rather than material things. Still holds up well after all these years as it gets introduced to every new generation. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The only half-hour Bugs Bunny?
I may be wrong, but I believe this was the only continuous half-hour format show Chuck Jones ever did using the original Looney Tunes characters ("continuous" meaning all one story, as opposed to ones like Bugs Bunny's Bustin' Out All Over, which was was made up of three individual new shorts, or others which were actually spliced together from the classic shorts). In fact, I think it still stands as the only half-hour Looney Tune to this day.

I'll admit that it's not Jones's best, because he clearly has some trouble with the pacing of a half-hour show (the beginning of the second act drags a bit), but it's still a lot of fun, and it deserves to get aired more often than it is. The Ray Bradbury in-joke at the beginning is particularly funny if you go into it knowing that Jones and Bradbury were longtime friends-but the joke works anyway, because Mel Blanc's enunciation makes "Ray Bradbury" come off as a really goofy-sounding name.

3-0 out of 5 stars Another Lost Bugs Special
Every so often, when we think about Bugs Bunny, we often think about the humor and joy that the directors and animators that've created such a breathtaking masterpiece of a character, a wabbit that was recently name TV Guide's Greatest Cartoon Character of All Time. Nevertheless, the wabbit continues to endure with all the humor and joy within every single heart in the world.

The Chuck Jones created special, Bugs Bunny In King Arthur's Court was a crazy remake based on the Mark Twain novel, A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court, the exact same novel that loosely based a previous Chuck Jones cartoon, Knight-Mare Hare. The special from 1979 was hilarious, with each and eveery angle of humor and joy you could still expect.

Although it still remains sad that Chuck Jones died in 2002, and this special he created for Warner Brothers was never reissued on video, it still stands as a fair testament, to one of the greatest characters in the world, and the greatest animator of the 20th Century.

2-0 out of 5 stars An example of post-classic Jones
The Looney Tunes gang takes on Mark Twain's "A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court" in this awkward, tedious Chuck Jones offering. The animation (mostly by veterans Ben Washam and Virgil Ross) is good at times, but the direction is erratic throughout. For diehard Jones fans only. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars utterly forgettable
Made at a time when Chuck Jones' gifts were in decline; the animation looks really low-grade, the first few minutes of the show are pure headache fodder, at least five minutes worth are a pure rehash of Cricket In Times Square. If this show is trying to say something at any level I couldn't pick it out. If I had a half hour to fill this holiday season I'd just go take a nap before I sat through this again.

5-0 out of 5 stars A holiday must see!
A very Merry Cricket by Chuck Jones is one of my usual must see Holiday tapes. A sequel to Mr. Jones Cricket in Times Square. We find Harry Cat, Tucker Mouse feeling down about all the commerical selling in the Big City of New York. People have forgotten the meaning of the Holiday, so off they go to Sunnyslope, Connecticut in search of Chester the musical cricket, also featured in "A Cricket In Times Square" also by Chuck Jones. We have a little fun with their adventures getting back to the big city of New York in time for Chester to play "Silent Night" on his wings during a blackout and remind people just what the holiday of Christmas stands for. With voices done by Mel Blanc, a wonderful holiday tape. For all ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY MERRY FOR THE HOLIDAY!
A very merry cricket is great for the holiday. Working at a public school that is 3/4ths black we have the privlege of having a nice video set up in our cafeteria.
