5-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't ask for a better sequel
Unlike many sequels, "Short Circuit 2" is a good one. Johnny 5's creator, Ben (Fisher Stevens), is making little robot toys when a man named Fred (Michael McKean) convinces him to start a business selling them. Johnny 5 arrives to help the duo out, but some trouble arises. Some thieves who are hunting for some jewels try their best to disassemble Johnny 5 so they won't have any obstacles in their way. Johnny 5 must find a way to stop the thieves while also surviving.

The "Short Circuit" movies are some of my favorite movies of all time, I grew up watching them. Even now that I'm grown, I never get tired of seeing them over and over. In my opinion, both of the "Short Circuit" movies are great, but I like this one the best. It has some classic scenes such as when Johnny 5 tours the city for the first time and when he helps Ben talk to Sandy (Cynthia Gibb) by putting the words on a huge billboard.

"Short Circuit 2" is a great comedy and family movie. It will make you laugh in parts, some parts are sad, and others are heartwarming. Some parts even have a hint of an action movie in them. If you want to see a movie that you'll never forget, watch "Short Circuit 2." I recommend everybody to get it.

4-0 out of 5 stars When Johnny comes marching home again
This is the sequel to the movie "Short Circuit" and relies heavily on having "Short Circuit" viewed first. In the original an experimental automated warier (complete with laser and Nuke) is stuck by lightning causing a short circuit and making robot number 5 (Johnny) alive.
This movie has several other subplots and some slapstick humor.

Strapped for cash, Ben Jahrvi, co-creator of Johnny 5, is pushed into the manufacturing business, making little Johnny replicas. This movie contains a love interest (Sandy), and economics. The action comes from when they leave Johnny (you guessed it) home alone. He is bamboozled by petty crooks, and abducted by ruthless people because someone wants the warehouse access.
So will Sandy and Ben get past they awkward stage? (Can Johnny help?)
Will Johnny Five be recovered?
Or will Number five lead his now life of crime?

5-0 out of 5 stars Best movie ever!!!
This movie should be re-released for the next generation of older kids. The robot in this movie was really cute.
......a ten year old (...)

5-0 out of 5 stars Short Circuit 2
I love this movie and I watch it at least once a week. This Movie is next best to owning Johnny 5. I wish I could own J-5, but do not have the Big Bucks to by him even if he is real. The only thing wrong with this movie is some of the bad language, so I just fast forward some of the scences. I wish they would make more movies using Johnny 5, I would like to see Ben & Sandy get married and J-5 as the Best Man. My Husband & I rent DVD's and have kept this Movie since Oct., so I thought I better buy it, so I can return the rental to get to watch other DVD's. Great Movie that could be even better without the bad language...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
This movie has been my favorite movie for years. In the first movie Number 5 or Johnny 5 was viewed more as a prop than a character. I'm not dissing the first movie!... In Short Circuit 2, Johnny 5 knows he is alive, but he struggles throughout the film trying to prove it to the rest of the world.
There are many emotion through out the film. Most of it is just humor! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars "Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry"
"Within each of us, oftimes; there dwells a mighty and raging fury".
Thanks to the success of the HULK movie, the premiere of the original TV series has been released to DVD. Personally, I like the TV show better. I hadn't seen it since I was a little kid, and was surprised to find I enjoyed this DVD a lot.
The first episode on this is the series 1 pilot. As all fans of the show know, Bill Bixby plays Dr. David Banner; who is haunted by nightmares about the death of his wife Laura in a car accident after a tyre blows out and the car goes off the road. Banner escapes but is unable free Laura before the car explodes.
Later, Banner is conducting research for an experiment on superhuman strength. Interviewed is a woman recounting how she saved her son from burning to death in a car accident that is startlingly similar to Banner's own experience. After hearing more testimony, Banner seems to be the only one who has failed. Guilt and anxiety lead him to go one step further and become a guinea pig for his testing. He discovers that the source of this strength is gamma radiation, so he subjects himself to a course of it, but has no results. So he tries again- only this time exposing himself to seven times the amount. Nothing happens. At least... not immediately.
Matters come to a head when Banner, frustrated at his lack of progress is driving home in a thunderstorm and has to change a flat tyre in the rain; this combined stress leads to his first "Hulk-out"...

More intelligent than most TV movies, the pilot also has a memorable sequene paying homage to the drowning scene in James Whale's FRANKENSTEIN, where the Hulk tries to save a little girl from drowning but her screams alert her father who tries to shoot the hulk. Naturally the bullets just bounce off. Special mention must be made of the wig Lou Ferrigno wears- he looks like he should have a golf tee tacked into the top of his head. Also of note: Banner watches himself changing back through the reflection in the water. Strange considering in the 1990 TVM, DEATH OF THE INCREDIBLE HULK Banner comments he's never before seen the creature after watching a tape of his transformation!
The bonus episode on the DVD is the series 2 pilot "Married"; again Written, Produced and Directed by Kenneth Johnson, who also produced SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN and BIONIC WOMAN.
This installment has Banner, using the alias David Benton; in Honolulu seeing psychiatrist Dr. Caroline Fields (Mariette Hartley, in an Emmy winning performance) to try and control his "hulkouts".(He even shows her a newspaper photo of the Hulk and confronts the beast while under hypnosis! So that's three times on this DVD alone!) Banner falls in love with her and learns Caroline is terminally ill and has only 6-8 weeks to live. Of course, Banner is none too happy to discover his nemesis, tabloid reporter Jack Magee (Jack Colvin) is sniffing around trying to catch the creature.
MARRIED is an intelligent emotionally charged, (but not sappy) episode which is appealing to adults as well as kids. There are also a few laughs, most notably in the scene where the Hulk trashes a weasly bachelor's "swinging" pad! The bell bottoms are good for a giggle too. "Groovy" stuff. I hope more episodes of the show are released on DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent made for TV Pilot on DVD!
This is the pilot for the popular 70's classic show based on the Marvel comic books. It tells about Dr. David Banner ( Bill Bixby) who studys the hidden strengths that all humans have then he experiments on himself with gamma radiation but overdoses it. When he got angry after his experiment, he transforms into a raging green beast who's really gentle but misunderstood by society called " The Hulk" ( Lou Ferrigno).
This is an excellent pilot that tells the origin of everyone's favorite green giant, Bill Bixby is truly incredible as David Banner and Lou Ferrigino is great as Hulk with the make-up, wig and silver eyes. The DVD is great, it offers commentary by series writer, director and producer Kenneth Johnson, an introduction by Lou Ferrigno, a look in the making of the 2003 Hulk movie and a bonus episode " The Incredible Hulk Married" with commentary by Kenneth Johnson.
If you are a fan of the series, own this to know the origin of the Hulk.

5-0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece
The pilot film of the Incredible Hulk tv series may very well be the most heartwrenching film ever put to film. To have "Married" (another heartbreaking moment realized by series developer Kenneth Johnson) on the dvd is just icing on the cake. If you love the Hulk, pick this up. It doesnt dissapoint.

5-0 out of 5 stars The first episode is the best!!!!
When I saw the pilot episode I really hated it. I don't remeber why I hated it but now I love it!!!!! It's about a man named David Banner(Bill Bixby) who's wife died in a car acident. Angry that he was not able to save his wife, he finds out that the same thing has been happing to other people, only they saved the person in the person car. David finds out that it is the gamma energy that is helping the other people save the person in the car. David put gamma energy into his body, but so much that it made this creature called the Hulk( Lou Freggino). Great start to a great series. Better than the movie. This DVD has another episode called "Marride" which is very good and has lots of Hulk sceans. Well worth your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite show is back on dvd!!!
In 1977,CBS introduced all of us to a great show based on the marvel comics superhero created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962.We meet Dr.David Banner,a research scientist and physician, trying to tap into mans source of strength,Banner is trying to cope with the death of his wife Laura, played by Lara Parker of Dark Shadows fame, through this unfortunate accident,Dr Banner and a fellow scientist,Elaina Marks, played beautifully by the lovely Susan Sullivan interview people when in times of emotional stress display unusual strength, but Dr.Banner discovering that Gamma Rays are responsible for making them strong and because he could not save his wife because of low gamma activity decides to experiment on himself absorbing a massive amount of gamma radiation he fails in the experiment on himself and feels no effects at first, but when he becomes angry or frustrated,he transforms into a hulking monster with super strength,7 feet tall, green and powerful.Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk was magnificent and I think the best one in the world who played the role and also a bodybuilding champion. The late Bill Bixby in the role of Dr.David Banner will be truly missed,he was a wonderful actor and played the role of Banner with compassion and inginuity. The episode Married is a truly great episode of the series.Banner is trying to seek help for his condition with a physchiatist and doctor named Caroline Fields played marvelously by Mariette Hartley, who unfortunatly has an illness of her own.the both of them marry and Dr.Fields life comes to an untimely end. This dvd is a must have for every fan of the series, and has a great introduction by Lou Ferrigno who plays the hulk,I will always be a fan of this marvelous show which ran on cbs from 1978-82. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating premise; poor execution
"Dark Horizon" has an exceptionally well-written plot, but the characters leave something to be desired. Aphassno, sent to Earth to retrieve the slaves, is a fascinating character even if he ocasionally moves his head like Michael Myers. However, the symbolism gets VERY heavy-handed at times and I was forced to fast-foward. Cathy and Sykes have no chemistry, and the time wasted on developing their relationship is incredibly boring. She and Aphassno are far more believable as lovers and I wish their affair had been more developed. Still, it is a fascinating movie and worth your while, especially if you were a fan of the show.

5-0 out of 5 stars Alien Nation: Dark Horizon
I loved this movie. It would be neat to have aliens living here on earth

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved, loved, loved this movie!
How wonderful it would be if we could live among others from another planet who were so similar to us. However, if that could happen, it would not be without it's predjudices as depicted in the movie. It was so realistic! Watch it and I gurantee you the Tenctonese will seem just like your next door neighbors! This is a very thought provoking, emotional film. I highly recommend it!

4-0 out of 5 stars I really liked the movie.
I haven't seen much alien nation movies, actually, this is the first I have seen. After I saw the movie, I went to the video club and hired an other alien nation video. I think it is an inspiring story. I do not wish to ruin the movie for all those who wish to see the video. I liked it because of it's many unexpected plot turns, and the way the problems were solved. and ofcourse, if you don't know alien nation, a little mystery from the unknown. the strange language, the alien culture. that was wat I liked about the movie. I could recomend it to anyone. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Made For T.V. Movie!
I love Disney Channel Original Movies! They are good movies the whole family will enjoy. This one is about Zenon. She lives on a space station in the year 2049. She is always getting in trouble. When she catches the owner of the ship loading a virus onto it, she is blamed for lying and her parents ground her to earth! She dosen't fit in, but falls in love and makes an enimy. When on earth, she discovers how to stop the virus from destroying her family, friends, and home! The only problem is, she's 13 and has to get to space! This movie teaches kids to take chances. Rent it today!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Most Stellar Made For T.V Movie Ever!!!
I'm not a big fan of made for t.v. movies. I don't mind watching them once in a while, but they're not the best thing to waste your time doing. Anyway, I had read the little childrens book to my sister a couple years ago, so I decided I'd watch it when I heard Disney was going to make it. The book was about trouble maker Zenon who lives on a space station in the future being sent to earth to stay with her grand parents. She found it booring until her dog had puppies. I thought the book was so stupid. But Disney wrote a completely different story for the movie. In the movie, Zenon is in 7th grade, not 5th grade like in the book. When she is accidentially in the wrong place at the right time, she witnesses someone loading a virus into her space station that she lives on. When no one believes her, her parents ground her to earth, which is considered a very dangerous place to live because of pollution and earthquakes and such. She has a little trouble fitting in, but she ends up falling in love and discovers everyone in the space station is about to die because of the virus. Now she dosen't have much time to get back into space and save the day. I reccomend if you haven't seen it, that you go to your local video store and rent it, or maybe wait and see if the price drops. I guarantee you'll like it. Disney recently made a sequal called "Zenon: The Zequel." The first one was better though!

1-0 out of 5 stars This movie sucks!!
This is the most horrible movie i have ever seen, or course not counting 2 or 3. Now disney has put out some good stuff but this is just crap. They Hire a horrible lead actress, with a supporting that at this time while staring in the 3rd probably has had breast implants. Disney needs to clean up its act and hire som good actors and actresses.

Writer, producer, and director Kenneth Johnson has completely reworked the story of Dr. Banner and his mean, green alter ego, but this new rendition works quite well in its TV format. After failing to save his wife from a burning car wreck, David Banner obsessively delves into research exploring rare adrenaline surges that give people superhuman strength in extraordinary situations. Discovering that the secret lies in the surge of gamma rays from sunspots, Banner purposely absorbs a massive dose of gamma radiation in his lab to try to improve his strength. The unanticipated result? You know--when he gets mad, he transforms into the giant green dude known as the Hulk. Unlike the subsequent TV series, this original film focuses on Banner's anger and despair over losing his wife rather than his being an unlikely hero on the run. It provides for many compelling moments as he seeks to comprehend his confusing metamorphosis, and as the Hulk becomes a threat to the unspoken romance between him and his supportive colleague and confidant, Dr. Elaina Marks. The late Bill Bixby delivers a warm, sympathetic performance as the tortured Dr. Banner, Susan Sullivan is believable as the brave, level-headed Dr. Marks, and Jack Colvin provides the sleaze factor as pesky tabloid reporter Jack McGee. Forgiving its '70s look and vibe, The Incredible Hulk is a smart comic-book adaptation that lets its protagonist do some soul-searching rather than provide a one-dimensional caricature. Kudos to Joseph Harnell's score, which strongly enhances the film's emotional content. --Bryan Reesman ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Hulk gets real
The Incredible Hulk was made more realin this movie and the subsequent series. The loss Banner felt and theguilt he felt from his wife's deathmade him do what any man would want to do, except for the disastrousresults. I grew up watching the Hulkat first because I liked the color green, and thought it was cool thatthe Hulk was big and strong. Therewas, however, more realism with themovies and the show. It showed us the pain and anger that Banner feltnot only in the death he wasn't ableto prevent, but also in having tohide himself, control his emotions, and his search for peace, to rid himself of the monster inside.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fascinating pilot to a wonderful series
When "The Incredible Hulk" first aired, I was only a year old. I do remember though, being extremely fascinated by the metamorphosis of David Banner into the Incredible Hulk. As an adult, I can enjoy the series and appreciate the mild but funny violence of this character. The ending of this movie really touched my heart as David Banner is "dead" and must live his life on the run, all the while searching for a cure to his problem.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great adaption of a comic book character
I was fortunate enough to catch this on the SCI-FI channel, & its following episodes, Kenneth Johnson did a graet job giving the Hulk much depth as well as David Banner & at times you actually feel for his unfortunate situation, an ordinary man leading an ordinary life, suffers a tragedy(loss of his wife in a car accident which left him powerless to do anything about) as a scientist he discovers that others have had similar experiences, but was able to save their loved ones, & he begins a quest to discover these miracles & associates them with gamma rays, which he exposes himself to in an experiment gone wrong, unbeknownst to him, his DNA is altered at the first sign of anger or fustration & it eventually leads to the death of a fellow scientist for which the Hulk is accused of thanks to nosy newspaper reporter Jack McGee, David Banner's world is forever changed as he is believed killed also, which begins a quest of finding a cure for his alter ego, thus sets the series in motion, the series that followed were good most of the time, some were bad, but most were good, one of the best was the episode titled "The First" which let the viewer know that there was another, as with "V" Kenneth Johnson created a show with style & substance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Comic Book Geeks Beware!
Did I say Geeks, I meant readers. Hey I dig the comics like the next guy, but this is a movie. You can let go and stop imagining an unreal comic universe and pick up this movie and watch a great adaptation with more substance than 99% of any issue ever made. Banner(David, Bruce, whatever!) is beautifully played by the late Bill Bixby in what many consider his finest work.

There is no need to go into the story because most know it. So please put the comic and candybar down, and order this must for all Sci-fi/drama fans. If you are a kid reading this ignore my review, but if you are one of these "adults" still into Marvel/DC scene; grow up already!

2-0 out of 5 stars I'm a Hulk reader, and I did not like this film.
I don't know why Hollywood has to change story elements that work in the comics. In the comics, the character's name is Dr. Robert Bruce Banner (not David Banner). Two, the comic book Hulk is strong and immune to shells and gun fire, but in this movie, the Hulk can get injured by bulliets. This film and the subsuquent television series deived it's plot from the Fugutive. But where Richard Kimble was able to clear his name and find the killer of his wife, Banner's odyssey as the Hulk would end with his death in a 1990 poorly made TV movie. Forget about this film. ... Shaquille O'Neal plays a relatively recent DC Comics hero named Steel, an Army weapons engineer who dons a steel suit and does battle with various bad buys, including a weapons dealer (Judd Nelson) whose market is criminals. Sooner or later, somebody had to give Shaq the opportunity to finally prove he doesn't belong in movies, and this silly 1997 action movie--in which O'Neal could not possibly look more wooden--does the trick. --Tom Keogh ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Why Butcher Shaq?
Personally, I have no idea how Shaquille O' Neal would want to act in movies. He is not that good a voice actor at all, but he does great action stunts. I always liked Steel, even though I've hardly ever heard of him. At least the comics have an African-American character. Now, why would this movie be bad? The effects aren't THAT bad. It's not exactly predictable. And besides Shaq, everyone else acts well. It's a nice little plot, not too simple, keeping you confused at the beginning and making you feel good at the end. Of course, Annabeth Gish's character being able to walk again at the film's end is a bit much; if anything, they should have saved that for a sequel. Shaq has the size and the looks. His films are B material at best, but STEEL was obviously his best. KAZAAM, of course, was hilarious, but not as good as this. This movie was MEANT to be taken seriously, so don't expect too much. I mean, the romance in TITANIC, the 1998 romance/tradgedy, was awful. And on the back of the case, it said "Titanic has been hailed as the greatest motion picture of all time". That's bull. I mean, who wrote that, anyway? God, or something? At least STEEL doesn't brag like THAT. The movie is one of the best I've ever seen in action. They just should have found a tall black man who wasn't Shaq, and made the story longer, and this could've been a classic. Shaq, please don't star in any more movies. There's something just dumb about how you act. But you survived it. And if you can do that, I think the movie's viewers should be able to treat it with a little more respect. In other words, shame on all of you. At least Shaq TRIED.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a giant! It's a robot! No it's STEEL!
John Henry Irons is a man you don't want as an enemy, because for these simple facts He's like seven feet tall, Used to be in the army and is an army of one, and is the super hero STEEL. Here is another super hero movie with an "S" involved. STEEL has no super powers but what he dose have is a metal suit that protects him from harm and has a big giant jackhammer as his weapon! The movie starts off with a tank being blown up, death, drama, and new advanced weapons! That's only in the first minute! You have a whole movie after that and can watch thrill packed adventure, suspense, gangs, the bad part of town, and STEEL. The music is good too. Five bucks says all boy's 5-12 will like this film because I'm not a boy anymore and I liked it. Kid's it is a must see and parents it makes a good stalking stuffer, so enjoy!
-Other movies I recommend with this movie are Superman, and Supergirl.

2-0 out of 5 stars So bad, it's good...
I give this movie 2 stars simply because I feel a one star would be cruel. But take my word for it, this is not a good movie at all. Actually, it's so bad it's funny. The film stars Shaq. There are so many things wrong with that last sentence, mostly the part about Shaq being in a movie. Shaq is not a good actor. Heck, he isn't even decent. The movie's script doesn't help him much. He plays John Henry Irons, a retired soldier who learns of a madman's plot to sell high-powered weapons to other evil people. The madman is Judd Nelson. There are also so many things wrong with that sentence. Nelson is completely miscast here, and his performance is so weak, it wouldn't surprise me if the filmmakers tried to find someone who they knew would make Shaq look good. It doesn't matter. They both come out looking pretty ridiculous. The movie's only saving grace (except its unintentional humor) is Richard Roundtree. Roundtree steals the show and every scene he's in by just smiling and dealing with the fact that he's the only first-rate actor in a movie of second-rates. Sure, he's also unintentionally funny, but he's the only one in the cast who I think wanted to be. If you like cheesy movies with dumb plots and terrible acting, "Steel" is the place to go. Actually, I'd probably recommend it for that reason. But don't see it expecting a solid plot, good acting, cool action, or even witty one-liners. So see "Steel," just don't expect anything from it.

1-0 out of 5 stars And they said Batman and Robin was bad....
Which it is, but this movie seems somewhat worse. It really looks like it was made on a tight budget and rushed through production. No screenplay, heavy metal rap music score, hastly designed sets and wooden acting from all the performers. Another strikeout movie from the DC Universe and Time Warner.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst movie ever made.
Steel was a bad movie with bad action. The script was bad,and the
music was just terrible.I rented this movie back In 1998,and I
sat down with my Pizza, and I watched it on a sunny Friday afternoon, and it was a waste of money.Shaq can't act,or do stunts. The costumes were bad,and the plot was weak.I think Shaq
needs to stick with his day job. ... Read more

The costumes were bad,and the plot was weak.I think Shaq
needs to stick with his day job. ... Read more

Description

Kirsten Storms (TV's SEVENTH HEAVEN, ANY DAY NOW) stars as the irrepressible Zenon, living on a space station in the year 2049. Her outrageous antics are just what you'd expect from most 13-year-olds, but this one gets "grounded" for sleuthing in a restricted area of the spacecraft. Sent to Earth to cool her jets, Zenon is determined to return home to warn her family and best friend Raven-Symone (DR. DOOLITTLE, TV's THE COSBY SHOW) of an imminent danger! But our intergalactic do-gooder must overcome a few obstacles ... nobody believes her, the local teenagers confuse her, and Earth's gravity is really getting her down! It's stellar fun for the whole family -- no matter what planet you're from. ... Read more
