1-0 out of 5 stars "cr*p on a stick" is too kind for "Outlaw Prophet"
I rented this once, and I swear I got stupider watching it. If you are a humanitarian, buy this horrible, horrible movie, and burn it _UNWATCHED_ as a favor to the world. It has no discernible plot, bad acting, a music video? thrown in for no apparent reason I could find (it's even a dumb music video), and then tosses in something about the devil and television just to really cap the whole thing off. That guy who wrote before me? And suggested watching paint dry before this stupid waste of a tape? Seriously. The paint would be better. I wish I could give this negative stars.

1-0 out of 5 stars Watch paint dry before you watch this video.
I ordered this video because I'm a big science fiction fan, but this video (I won't call it a film, because it was obviously shot very quickly on video) seemed like they made it up as they went along. I'm still not sure what it was about. There's this guy (David Heavener, who also directed) that's dressed up in some weird outfit, and I guess he's from another planet, but he's a born again Christian, so I guess there's Christianity on other planets, anyway, not much makes sence in this low, low, low, budget film. If it was his first film, I'd cut him some slack, but I think it's his 5th film and it's really bad. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for a B rated Movie
If you like B rated movies you will probably like this one. There is lots of action in this film. David Heavener is a sexey guy. You will also see small roles played by Shannon Tweed, and Eric Estrada.

1-0 out of 5 stars Martin Landau should fire his agent for putting him in this!
I bought this video because I'm a big fan of Martin Landau, but after seeing this film, I think he should fire his agent! This film was obviously made on a very low budget and it shows. The dialogue is so stiff it has splinters. I felt bad for Martin Landau, you could tell he knew this was a bad film, but he probably needed the money as this was made before his 'comeback' in "Ed Wood". Speaking of Ed Wood, he was a better director than the guy who directed this stinker. I'm just glad Landau has moved on to bigger and better films and he no longer has to make garbage like this to pay his bills. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars AMATEURISH S/F SWORDFIGHTING VIDEO
Robert Chapin, who gave us so much good action in "Ring of Steel", does nothing to advance his career here. This is a lamely written, poorly directed, overall amateur-feeling video.

The plot involves a post-apocalyptic swordfighter going back to our time to save the future from some plague, or something. There's something in there about how he rebelled against the warlord who created him, there's the requisite romantic interests and bad guys and stranger-in-a-strange-land type stuff as our heroes and villains explore 1990's LA.

The sets in the future are obviously someone's back yard. The fight choreography is blatant and poorly edited. The acting ranges from almost competent to woeful, and is not helped by the weak material. The director himself plays a guy about to enjoy his wedding night when the female hero from the future, inexplicably topless, appears in his bed. This level of sophistication infuses the whole production. A decent student film festival will give you more cinematic satisfaction.

The only reedeeming qualities I found in this fim are the eye-candy actors and the ability to clearly analyze the sword fighting choreography.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time.
I rented this video because I like films with action and sword fights, but this film did not deliver. The action was weak and the sword fights were silly. The direction and acting were even worse. I wish I could say something positive but I can't think of anything.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dragon Fury Review
I liked this film because it didn't get too technical with the medical/scifi terminology. It was easy to follow in that respect. The fight scenes were done very well with only one objectionable/hokey death of a bad guy. I liked the fact that the hero was not infallible. He had some chinks in his armor which made him more interesting. I would like to have seen one tiny redeeming quality in the main warrior bad guy though. Even just a slight hesitation when he's about to do something really nasty-a hint of regret-would help me believe a little bit more in his character. I would recommend this film to anyone interested in swords or this type of hand to hand combat. The guys aren't bad to look at either! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars David Heavener is no Harrison Ford.
I rented this video because the title reminded me of one of my favorite films, THE FUGITIVE, but I was very disappointed. The story is about this guy (Heavener himself) who is injected with this tracking device and he is hunted down by these killers as a group of rich gamblers bet on when and if he will be killed. It sounds like an interesting story, and it may have worked if the direction and acting had been better, but David Heavener is no Harrison Ford and he doesn't have the talent to pull it off. I'd have to give it a thumbs down.

5-0 out of 5 stars great action with thrilling story
