Barney and his pals take a trip to Grandpa's farm and find that a magical egg--which is due to hatch any moment--is missing. As opposed to the studio-bound television show, this feature film has a lot more visual diversity and is a bright, good-looking production. Barney fans will appreciate the broader production scale--even if they don't realize it. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Irritating Movie
This has to be the most crappiest thing I have ever watched. This is not for kids, this video contains: MODERATE GUNS & WEAPONS SCENES, MILD NUDITY/SEX SCENES, EXTREME SCENES OF VIOLENCE AND EXTREME PROFANITY. So don't let your child watch this hoopla.

4-0 out of 5 stars It'll hold the kid's attention
When my oldest (now 7) was two, this video had just come out and we bought for her. She would watch it OVER AND OVER and beg for more! Trust me, it got really annoying after about the 100th time of them finding that stupid egg!

But she loved it and now her younger siblings do too. I recommend this if you're not easily annoyed by watching the same thing over and over!

The plot is all about Barney finidng and egg and the kids and he go on a journey to find out what it is.

3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but sassy pre-teens in the cast
We've had this video for a couple years and my daughter, now 5, has always enjoyed it. But today she used the phrase "whatever" to me and I racked my brain trying to think where she had heard that used. Well, it was this movie along with some other sassy phrases such as "Talk to the hand because the face isn't here". That kind of language is definitely not what you would expect from Barney and the kids are too impressionable at this age to have such a sloppy and sassy role models.

1-0 out of 5 stars stupid
This movie is very bad. It contains a nude dinosaur called Barney. and some retarded guy named Trevor doesn't believe in Barney. So a big comet fell out of sky. That was huge suspence. When Barney fell from the sky, I bet he was yelling swear words and acting like a moron when he was getting down. This movie should be banned everywhere, everybody will return this movie for a big refund of $100. Then the cops will arrest people who still have this video. Worst movie ever. Everybody hates this.. even God, man, they should think of something better like Barney and Heavy Metal.

1-0 out of 5 stars Inappropiate
I have seen bad stuff, but this is ridicilous. What a stupid plot, they find a dumb egg. [ Sacrastically : ] Wow. What a cool plot! Why don't they eat the egg. And a kid steps his foot in cow crap. This should be rated R for drug refrences, alchochol-slurping scenes, scenes of nudity, mild violence and advanced cursing. Even a Barney fan will hate this.

If you are lookin or buying for movies... don't buy this numbskull-written junk on DVD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love the Catskills? You'll love this achingly beautiful film
While it's true that this movie has only a light, meandering plot, it's not the plot that counts: it's the astonishingly accurate, nostalgic, and bittersweet portrayal of the last days of an old Jewish Catskills hotel. It'll resonate most with those who have some connection to the Catskills. If you've ever spent a vacation at any of the big (or smaller) Jewish resorts there, you'll adore this film: its every detail is true-to-life in a way most films can't capture, and it'll make you ache for the sweetness of summers--and loved ones--past.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of my all time favorites
This movie is one of my all time favorites. It is a "small" film, and it is charming and gentle. It is also funny and filled with small touches. It helps to know the history of the Catskills, NY resort region to fully appreciate the movie, but you don't have to be from NY to enjoy this sweet film.

1-0 out of 5 stars "Sweet" Leaves a Bad Taste
Halfway through "Sweet Lorraine," I found myself muttering "Sweet Jesus - who thought there was a movie here?" It looks like the cast simply found a Catskills resort that would let them shoot on location in return for renting out some rooms, and the cast tried to improvise a story (and not successfully). An embarrassment for everyone involved. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The movie gets five stars
But the dvd gets only 3 from me, so it averages out to a 4 star release. I was happy when I found out one of my favorite movies was coming out on dvd. A story about overcoming differences; the white female coaching the young, black, inner-city basketball team. There's tension in the beginning because they're unfamiliar with each other, but they learn to work together and end up finding success. Yeah, it may seem like something you've seen before, yeah it may be predictable. But so what? That doesn't mean it's not good. I think the movie did a good job of making the viewer care about and root for the characters, especially Fredro Starr's character, Shorty Dowop. He showed that ruffnecks could be sensitive and have feelings as well as forties. Basically, I love the movie, but the dvd is only in full screen, not wide screen. It would have been nice to have a choice. The only extras are trailers for Race The Sun, Higher Learning and Sunset Park. A music video, filmographies or commentary would have been nice as well, but Columbia/Tristar's low frills dvd treatment prevents me from giving it a perfect score.

5-0 out of 5 stars how do you say great movie
this movie was one of the better movies i've ever seen. as far as cute guys, great story-line, and talent go it's all that! i can't believe how ne1 could not like it. i think it sends a very positive message out about racial issues. and the movie also isn't mushy at all considering it's a drama. if u like or dis like basketball it doesn't matter because it's still a great movie no matter what! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny, Sweet, Cute
I love the movie I rated it 5 stars because I think it is a very good movie. It is so funny and I love the people who are in it! If you don't like this movie you are crazy it is so good!! I think it shows that everyone has a dramatic/sweet side, it is an awsome movie!!

1-0 out of 5 stars The Worst of Its Kind
Yet another failure by movie producers to make an accurate film about life in the inner city. I grew up playing inner city basketball and i thought this movie was about as far from the truth as it could be. This movie presents stereotypes that categorize people into something they are not. The storyline in this movie is laughable to those of us that know better. If you did not grow up in the inner city and don't know what it's like, don't consider this movie to be a reflection of the truth.

This film tries to combine a basketball story line with life in an inner city environment. The basketball aspects are poorly done with a cast that didn't prove they could even portray basketball players. the role of the coach was totally unbelievable. The problems associated with high schoolers were blown out of proportion. Those that were fairly accurate, probably 1 or 2 out of 100 people can relate to it.

The acting is poor and so are the characters. This is a movie that takes people that can't act and attempts to get them to accurately portray people who live in that kind of culture and environment. You can tell when an actor can sell a character's personality and when a person is failing to act tough for a movie role.

The only thing that kept me watching the movie was the soundtrack. At least this movie did something right.

I don't recommend this movie, unless you want a fictional look at life in the inner city and at this kind of culture and lifestyle. If you come from this kind of environment , you will probably have a good laugh.

This may not be the best rapsploitation pic to come out of the early1990s, but it does have some interesting ideas and nicely shot club and concert scenes. Fly by Night tells the story of Rich (Jeffrey D. Sams), who leaves his wife and child to pursue a career as a rapper. He teams up with hardcore gangsta I Tick (Ron Brice), and their combined light-and-heavy style makes them a hit. Some of the most interesting material comes from the secondary characters, including a 45-year-old, white DJ (Leo Burmester) who works the club circuit with a young, black rapper. There's also an early performance by Maura Tierney of New Radio fame, and a decent soundtrack by MC Lyte. Still, the definitive rap movie is yet to be made. --James DiGiovanna ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Captivation
I happen to agree with a couple of other reviews. This movie is much more than a rapconcoction of lyrics and music. It is a social, and an especially poignant drama of emotions and desires. The King, (Mr. Sams), should have stayed with his wife and baby and continued to pursue his school work. He has a decent job to sustain himself and his family. However, his desires are greater than all of those IMPORTANT matters. He plays the role exceptionally well. I Tick, (Mr. Brice), does a superb job of playing a stone thug who has little to live for and less to care about. He is in the Rap world without caring about the Rap world. He has a talent that he realizes can be enhanced by this young straight boy, who is not a thug, but has a talent for writing. He realizes that their two lives would need to merge. What are his desires, actually? I have begun to wonder, as it is clear he does not want the King to walk out on him, and he appears to be prepared to prevent him from doing so. I love the interplay between the unspoken words that "I" has when he watches "THE KING" wind and wrangle and rapping in front of him on the stage. Yet he admires everything about him while finding his "brand" of black man, distasteful. I don't know what the writers/producers wanted us to get from this movie, but there was a lot more presented here than perhaps was intended. The final scene may have been tacted on, but it left me feeling sorry for the thug whom I feared, in this movie, would be the ruination of the King and eventually kill or destroy the life of the good guy. It is interesting that a shooting scene was added to the club scene. If anything was tacted on, I felt it was that one. Although, since I am such a fan of Mr. Brice, I loved every scene with him, particularly his rauncy lyrics and his presentation of them. How did this movie get away from me from 1993 until the year 2002? Thanks to BSTARZ I have been able to see this movie. It needs to be revived. It is certainly contemporary in its concepts.

2-0 out of 5 stars i have mixed feeling about this flick
it doesn't know weather it want's to make rap out to be a useless outlet or praise it.plus the idea of a record ceo being right about the arguement he had with the rappers was laughable.maybe they was trying to be un biased buy telling his side of the story.but it camed off as a anti rap movie.oh and lets not start on the suburban middle aged white women who said there music was garbage?.and then offered them coffee.like she gives a [darn] about them making good or bad quality rap.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wrap This "Rapper" and Trash It
This is a real car wreck of a movie and its easy to see why it never got a theatrical release. The Director deserves most of the blame, but there's plenty to go around. The only copies of this film likely to sell will be to people who worked on it, trying to get every copy off the market so they can sponge the stain off their resumes. ... Read more
