5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful film and superior acting by Marushka Detmers
This film should have made Detmers a star after her role in "Devil in the Flesh"....It is a superior film based on a true story about a hero whose values were stronger than her own survival...It is a film all should see for the history and most of all for Detmers...a talent who Hollywood did not know what to do with, but lucky for us had two films that showed us her talents.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great movie - Heartbreaking story.
This movie lacks the sophistication of the Hollywood blockbusters. However, the message, the script and the acting are so powerful you won't notice after the first 20 minutes.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Film I Will definitely Add to My Library!!!
I had never heard of Hanna Senesh before I see this movie. I was reluctant to rent it but I was not disappointed. Although it could be rated as a "B" movie (budget wise), I could compare it to the very popular "Schindler's List". Very Underrated! How come I have never heard of this film before? I will probably view this movie again.

4-0 out of 5 stars An inspiring movie about a heroine during Hitler's siege
Most hero's depicted during war time are men, but in Hanna's War we are reminded that women play(ed) important roles, too. Though this movie is glamorized through costume design and a beautiful actress, the basis of the story is performed solidly. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better the Secound Time
When I 1st saw this movie I was sooo disappointed...being the HUGE Sylvester Stallone fan that I am I was expecting most of what I saw but it seemed to pathetic to begin with...how realistc is it that a truck driver would also be a professional arm wrestler? The main story of Sly trying to win over the love of his son is heartfelt and sweet but with consideration to the movie I decided to watch it for a secound time and realized that it's a better movie the secound time you see it. You become more open-minded to the odd plot and you accpet the flaws that appear throughout this family film.

2-0 out of 5 stars Sure its bad
The plot is crazy the kid is annoying but you can kind of cheer for the hero...and at least we don't see any shots of Stallone in a diaper. We have to wait for Stop! Or my mom will shoot (the great epic of 1992) for that.

5-0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece of bad cinema
Sylvester Stallone plays an arm wrestler and the law won't give him custody of his son. A laugh riot, especially the scene when Sylvester plows down the gate of a mansion with his truck. There are the little details that makes this movie great too like how Sylvester is supposed to be making a truck run to California but the Grand Canyon and the Sahara Desert are in the background. Also weights in his truck and how come turning his hat on backwards makes him magical? Every time I see this I laugh so hard I cry. This needs to be on DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ninjas are Cool
The pirates sure took a beating in this one. Hehe, Excellent. With thier crazy ninja smoke and their bouncing around, I don't understand how anyone could beat a ninja with another ninja. Like I always say, you have to fight fire with ninjas. I give this movie six thumbs in inordinate directions.

4-0 out of 5 stars good movie
the first and last 20 minutes are some of the best scenes in a martial arts movie ever!

3-0 out of 5 stars Entertaing Grunt and Groan Ninja flick.
For fans of Kung Fu films, Enter the Ninja will not disapoint. Financed by the B-Action movie Kings Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, Enter the Ninja revived the Ninja craze of the early 80's with it's well choreographed fights and bloody violence. Spawned two sequels with little to with each other (Revenge of the Ninja and Ninja III: The Domination) and was the inspiration for another Golan-Globus classic American Ninja.

1-0 out of 5 stars A good way to get some sleep
Enter the Ninja is simply a BAD film! I'm a big fan of the genre, but I must admit, this is not one of the better ones. The plot sucks, the poor acting, and the complete drag for about an hour of nonsense! However, the only reason to view this film is the 20-30 minutes of Ninja action. I enjoy the action, and it did show great detail of the Ninja. This is the film that started the genre, and it didn't start too well. Positive note, most of the Ninja info. was the most detailed in most of the Ninja films. If you are ever in the need for some good sleep, watch 5 minutes of this and you will go to sleep for days. They should've just used the 10-20 minutes of action and made that the film! 1 out of 5 star. 1 star because of it's info on the Ninja ONLY!

2-0 out of 5 stars Hey a Ninja movie w/ a decent story
This is Kosugi's first film, and for the Cannon group some almost 20 years after its release - (hard to believe) - it's not half bad, though this is basically a cult-film at best, for those who have an appreciation of Cannon's sleazy style of exploitation.

The story centers around Nero - a white, American ninja - who makes an enemy in Ninja School, and then leaves school, and heads off to Mexico to visit a friend. There he learns that his old buddy has some problems w/ money baron Christopher George. Sooner or later, George tracks down his rival, and arranges a meeting for them both accordingly.

George's appearance and Kosugi's coreography save this film. Say what you want about Kosugi but I haven't seen a fight coreographed better by any modern actor. Too bad, Van Damne killed his career - what little of one he had... He doesn't even have any coreographing skills, (that I know of,) that can in any, way, shape or form redeem his incredibly bad-acting, though at least w/ Kosugi he had some sort of talent in one department or another. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Old Timers Shine
This film might have been the swan song for it's main characters; Gould, Hemmingway, Winters and Sid Ceaser. Incedently, a wonderful performance by Burt Young. Perhaps casting could have come up with a more appropriate shixa than Margaux Hemingway. Carol kane's character is a little to "pushed", fault the screen writer.

O.K. the film is frantic and perhaps overplayed but certain individual scenes were wonderful. A former Brooklyn boy like me especially enjoyed the scenes around Coney Island and the family squabble, in the new restaurant, is a gem.

Don't recall this movie ever being distributed to the theaters, perhaps the potential distributors thought it to "ethnic' if you get my drift. ... Read more

This typical but well-made action movie, which spawned numerous sequels, means to combine the best elements of the disaster movie with the hard-boiled attributes of traditional action-adventures. When a plane is hijacked to the Middle East by Palestinian terrorists, the Pentagon calls into action the Delta Force, an elite squad of highly trained commandos led by tough guy mainstay Lee Marvin and karate-action-star Chuck Norris. Their mission is simple: to thwart the terrorists and rescue the hostages, and the plot concentrates largely on just that, as the team uses its experience and fighting skills to get the job done. Its sometimes preachy patriotic bent occasionally gets in the way of the action, and Norris is a one-dimensional figure who at times takes himself too seriously, but his rapport with easygoing veteran Marvin moves the film over some implausible rough spots. While not a groundbreaking contribution to the genre, Delta Force impresses with its straightforward tough-guy style. --Robert Lane ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS MOVIE !!!
"Delta Force" is a classic of the Action/Adventure genre. Karate champ Chuck Norris has been in some pretty cool movies, like "Lone Wolf McQuaid" and "Missing in Action," but this is probably his best one. He's also been in some really crummy ones - the other day I watched a Chuck Norris movie called "Firewalker," and boy was it lame! Anyway, back to "Delta Force." As I was saying, it's a really cool movie. The plot is nothig creative: Norris plays a commando on the trail of a group of Palestinian terorrists who have hijacked a plane. What makes the story so great is that it is grounded in reality. For example, in the beginning of the movie we find Chuck and his Delta Force buddies trying to escape from Iran after a botched attempt to rescue the Ameriocan hostages bveing held there. As you probably know, this episode actually happened in real life (minus Mr. Norris, of course). Another thing that makes it great is the way it shows Middle Eastern terrorists as cruel, Jew-hating cowards, which they in fact are. These days, movies have to be politically correct when they are dealing with Middle Easterners. Actually, I haven't seen a movie since 9/11 that even deals with Middle Eastern terrorists. Bad guys in action movies nowadays have to be white boys so that Middle Easterners will not be offended. In Tom Clancy's book "The Sum of all Fears," the terrorists were Arabs, but when they made the movie they changed them into neo-Nazis. Fortunately, "Delta Force" was made long before all this PC stuff materialized.
As for the action scenes, I think that they can be summed up with the two words "Totally Awesome." "Delta Force" has not only action, buts lots of drama. The acting is very good - alright, so it's nothing that should have been nominated for an Oscar, but it's much better that you would expect. The actors and actersses manage to create scenes that are chilling, adrenaline pumping, and heartbreaking. Chuck Norris plays the hero really well, the dudes that play the terrorists do that really well, but I must say that the hostages steal the show.
So, that's what I think of "Delta Force," and I don't care if anyone tells me that it is corny or overly-patriotic. It's great to see Delta force kicking the butts of the wimpy terrorists, especially after 9/11. Thank you to Amazon.com for offering "Delta Force," thank you to Chuck Norris for doing a cool movie, and thank you to the real-life members of Delta Force for defending the USA.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very modern for its time
The military weapons they used are very up to date. This movie loves blowing stuff up. Chuck Norris uses about 5 motorcycle missiles, 3 bazookas, a bunch of guns, and these weapons no one has ever seen in movies but that the military has. After watching the movie on tape I wanted to join the delta force and blow some things up too. Unfortunately it doesn't exist anymore. I am stunned that Robert Forster played the head terrorist so well. The movie was stocked with great actors. I wonder how much money was spent on it and how much the movie made. It was made in '86 and I was 6 years old so I don't remember it. But since its on USA Network, and TBS everytime there is a 'men of steel' week or action week I guess it is a classic. This movie is totally original and its a shame that these crappy 90's airplane movies steal some of Delta Force's scenes.

Delta Force is the best action film of all time.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good in it's day, inappropriot now
"Delta Force" stars Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin as senior officers of the Army's special forces group. They are called into action when an American commercial airliner is hi-jacked by Middle Eastern terrorists. "Delta Force" has spawned many sequals over the years, but this is by far the best. That is not, however, saying a lot. After recent events in America, this movie looks extreamly racist by depicting all Arabs as complicient in terrorism. I know that it was a completly different time when it was made, but you still can't ever forget current events. Taken as an action movie, it isn't bad, a lot of testosterone being splashed around, but that was a big thing in the 80s. The action scenes were very good, the best part of the movie. It looks like to me it was cast with two different movies in mind. The two tough guy leads (who work very well with and off each other) are Chuck Norris (who is actually at his best 'Norrisian' acting, just a notch above, say, David Hassolhoff, though not as bad as he would become on "Walker, Texas Ranger"), Lee Marvin (basiclly re doing his role from "The Dirty Dozen", but otherwise pretty spry for 80. Won't the Army let him retire?), and Bo Svenson (Svenson, well, you know what you're getting, at least he dosn't have that huge baseball bat this time) who are, for better or worse, action stars. And then you have the almost laughable cast of Goerge Kennedy (actually not too bad this time around, reminding me he was really good in "Cool Hand Luke") and Shelly Winters (guess they ignored the plane's weight limit) who are most known for their disaster movies. I wasn't sure if the Army was going to rescue them, or if a granade was going to go off while the plane was in flight. Anyway, this movie really suffers from post 9/11 American attitudes towards Middle Easterns right now, I think too many people are going to think that the cardboard villians are acurate portreyments of Arabs.

3-0 out of 5 stars When will the Force be with us?
When this initially came out, it struck me as an unveiled propaganda movie, like those produced during World war II. It was a simple good guys versus the stereotyped bad guys movie with a bland ho hum plot. However, in the light of recent terroristic activities worldwide, this film now has a tinge of truth in it. Bad guys do exist and they do commit terroristic acts and they MUST be eliminated. Thst is the reality portrayed here. The fantasy is that there is a Delta Forcee that can obliterate these bad guys. Well, they haven't done it yet. Lee Marvin provides his usual inebriated acting in this one. However, Chuck Norris is statuestic. His acting is pretty much mundane here. The inclusion of so many prominent stars does not make this a classic. But this may eventually end up being a cult film if the situation where terrorists are not destroyed in the real world persists. At least in this movie, they get their lickings.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fact, fantasy, and exploitation combine.
This 1986 offering from The Cannon Group recreates an actual hijacking and then sends a fictional delta force team (headed by Lee Marvin and Chuck Norris) out to fix things. Studio head Menahem Golan stepped behind the camera to direct and the result is a bit of a bloated movie. The action is well over an hour in coming and the first half is pretty over the top in its melodramatic manipulation. Nonetheless, it will entertain fans of the Cannon studio movies (they do exist) and Chuck Norris. Nothing classic, and it lacks the punch of realism (the delta force drives dune buggies into combat?) to help make anything other than an average exploitation melodrama. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars enjoyable and fun
This movie is a fun, accessible version of the Threepenny Opera, a great introduction to Brecht's work with a well-cast ensemble. It makes a good double feature with The Beggars Opera starring none other than Roger Daltrey- nice to explore the 20th century alterations Brecht made in his adaptation of John Gay's original play. As far as the complaints about Mack the Knife being untrue to the "original" script- even during Brecht's time the play underwent constant revision (he found it acceptable to have his actors on stage reading the newly-altered script in their hands on opening night!) Both the Barbara Song and Pirate Jenny changed performers dependent on the strength of the actress playing the role. I have seen too many versions of this play to count and one of the things that is so delightful about Brecht's work is the multitudinous interpretations of his "intent" - when it comes to Brecht it's time to throw out the Canon and get the social message, tap your toes and enjoy. Strong singing performances and choreography, the acid bitterness of poverty, and exposed sexuality all make this movie a good one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very underrated version. First rate!
I'm a huge fan of Threepenny Opera, having seen my first performance as a teenager: the stupendous Off-Broadway revival with Lotte Lenya, Charlotte Rae & Beatrice Arthur. I went back to see it a year later with James Mitchell as Macheath & Ed Asner was Mr. Peachum.

I've seen every production I could since then. I've seen bald Mackeys & fat Mackeys & gay Mackeys. This is a highly versatile work. It has a brilliant score; in my opinion it's the greatest piece of musical theater of the 20th century.

I was surprised how captivating this film version is, especially considering that it has been virtually buried since its release. That's a real shame. The singing is magnificent & the dances were wonderful & fit perfectly with the theme of the piece. The costumes & sets are first-rate. Richard Harris gives the best performance I've seen him do on-screen (except for Wrestling Ernest Hemingway). Migenes as Jenny & Walters as Ms. Peachum are sensational. Raul Julia's terrific. Even the crowd scenes, which are so key to this piece, are surprisingly effective, with plenty of idiosyncratic faces & expressions in the roiling multitudes. Perhaps the key is that the production was filmed in Hungary.

I only have 2 quibbles: cut or transposed songs and the used of the "orthodox" translation (or a blend of Bltzstein & orthodox). It's been the vogue for years to put down Marc Blitzstein's libretto (which was the one used in the 1950's productions) as too "watered-down" in favor of the Eric Bentley-influenced more literal translations. This is unfortunate because the Blitzstein lyrics are idiomatic & immediate. They bring the characters that much more to life. The message of bitterness & anger doesn't go away just because the text isn't embedded with germanic sentence-structures (or a few 4-letter words).

Boy would I love to have a letterboxed DVD of this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dark fun
I also agree, Bobby Darrin has NOTHING to do with the original spirit of "ThreePenny Opera", no offense.

This show, if done as intended, will be fun and baudy, while at the same time, making the audience a little uncomfortable. That is the main essence of the piece, and I think this film captures it admirably. Sexy, rowdy, fun, and with an air of doom the entire time. I was a bit put off about them giving "Barbara Song" to Polly instead of Lucy, it changes the entire meaning of the song. Perhaps I'm just biased because I performed and loved that song. But none of the liberties taken with the material were unforgiveable in my opinion. The Tango number between Mack and Jenny is the best part, an edge-of-your-seat type sexiness and danger.

So don't let loyalty to the original format ruin your enjoyment of this film. Don't miss out!

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected
I've seen THE THREEPENNY OPERA half a dozen times. I didn't have much hope for the movie, especially given the production team, and was quite pleasantly surprised. Raul Julia is as good a MacHeath as I've seen, and Richard Harris is an excellent Peacham. As for Leonard Maltin, if he thinks Bobby Darin has anything to do with the true flavor of THE THREEPENNY OPERA, he's a bigger jerk than even I thought he was.

4-0 out of 5 stars I don¿t know if Brecht or Weill like it¿but I sure do!
This is not very faithful to the original stage version, and Weill's brilliant original orchestrations have been "Hollywood-ized". However, it is a strangely captivating film. Julia Migenese and Raul Julia are perfect for the roles of Jenny and MacHeath (respectively). Polly (whose name I can't recall), Mr. Peachum (Richard Harris), and Mrs. Peachum (whose name I can't recall, but she was in the good version of ROMEO & JULIET from the 1960s) have the perfect chemistry for a dysfunctional family. A must-see! (Sorry, Kurt!) ... Read more

Nothing classic, and it lacks the punch of realism (the delta force drives dune buggies into combat?) to help make anything other than an average exploitation melodrama. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Total cheese!!!
Who wrote this script? What a terrible way to end the Shaft dynasty.

In one of the scenes Ninjas are on on top of huge boulders shooting arrows at Shaft. Shaft manages to catch one of the arrows and throws it back at the Ninja, fatally killing him. Can you believe that? The Batman television series has better actions scenes. I've seen better acting in Fast Actin' Tinactin!

Do yourself a favor and buy a Dirty Harry movie in lieu of Diamond Shaft.

1-0 out of 5 stars Diamond Shaft
Save your money unless this is the last movie in the set for your collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good heist film with an unexpected twist.
No, this isn't a Shaft movie. The name was changed. It is a great bit of 70's cinema shot in the middle east with low quality production. Beyond that the story is average, but it's the twist in the end that gives it two extra stars.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is a terrible storyline
Richard Roundtree's character isn't even named Shaft. He is actaully named Archie. This is a story about a jewel-thief released from prison / trying to do the right thing. A person would think by the title 'Shaft' that it would be as good as the trilogy;this isn't the case. Put your blaxploitation spending cash back in your wallet and walk away. This is garbage and chances are your vcr will break in the process. ... Read more

Though this movie is glamorized through costume design and a beautiful actress, the basis of the story is performed solidly. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Unexpected Pleasure!
I admit to being a big Michael Pare fan. But he is an aquired taste and some of his stuff...weelll enough said. This is a typical B action movie from the creators of Missing In Action series. Mr. Pare has worked with them before in Killing Streets & First Light. I guess the reason I like this movie (Heroes)so much is the angle of rescuing his wife from the terrorists. The premise is our hero is a retired Navy Seal on vacation w/ wife & son in Greece. In airport on the way home terrorists hijack plane for release of Jose Maria Carlos (shades of Carlos ? the Jackal). The wife is taken and not released so our hero goes after her w/ a little help from Capt. Cody Brandt (Jan-Michael Vincent), former SEAL friend. There is action, of course but not mindless, unexpected humor w/ some excellent one-liners and romance. I think a lot of women would like to be loved like that. There is some heavy handed American patriotism (standard in Golan-Globus Productions) but who is to say they aren't right. Maybe America is too sensitive about being a bully in the wrong situations. I watch this movie when I get down it makes me feel good! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst movie ever
This movie is a joke. Writing is horrible, directing is horrible, acting is the pits. Any questions?

4-0 out of 5 stars Comically delightful
