5-0 out of 5 stars SENSATIONAL--MINUS 20
I've been hearing for years about "Twin Peaks", whether by word of mouth or on the internet. It's popular to mention the numerous pop-culture moments this show created and the fact that so many shows try to imitate, and fail, this landmark show. So after reading recaps of the pilot and first couple episodes, I decided to buy the whole thing.

I took a risk and I'd do it again because this show is one of the greatest achievements of all TV time. The pilot is a perfect intro to the show, establishing the characters and plots, the main one and various subplots, that it's addictive. WHO KILLED LAURA PALMER!? The mix of light and dark, quirky humor, heavy drama, fantastic production values, and so much more! If you haven't seen any of the show, stay clear of the last 15-20 minutes. I heard about the special ending and found out that the original pilot ends at Sarah Palmer's scream after her dream. End it there, watch the rest of the series, then go back and watch the ending.

Other than that, sit back, relax, and ENJOY! And believe me, YOU WILL!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best 2 Hours of Film Anywhere!
Twin Peaks is the premier for the greatest TV series ever created. Brought in to investigate the murder of Twin Peaks Homecoming Queen Laura Palmer, Agent Dale Cooper "Kyle MacLachlan" becomes wrapped up in a town full of mystery, murder, damn good coffee and killer cherry pie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Start here.
This is pretty much what any fan of the show or David Lynch needs to start with. It's the original movie/pilot, and is a great piece of work. The story, the characters, and the whole northwest environment really make for an interesting and sometimes creepy watch. Many cool actors showed up in "Twin Peaks", among them Kyle McLachlan, Lara Flynn-Boyle, Sheryl Lee, Jack Nance, and the sexy Sherilyn Fenn. If you enjoy this, seek out the VHS collectors series, episodes 1-7. Or the DVD first season, which is also episodes 1-7, minus this pilot.

So I'm sitting on this chair, in this house, on mars when this movie comes on. TWIN PEAKS. The first thing I saw was this grotesque factory-mill type place. And then there was this close-up shot of some rusty machine, and it moved...it moved with the music. Sparks were shooting out everywhere, and it was all moving to this other-worldly melody. Then waterfalls, ponds, ducks...in less than one minute, Lynch had sucked me in, shattered me, put me back together (the way he saw fit), and then he dropped me off into TWIN PEAKS.
The whole thing was beatiful. Lynch and Frost had created this soft cloud of a world that was filled shards of glass and rusty nails. It was all like a dream -a dream that you don't want to wake up from. Bobby, Donna, Shelly, Big Ed. I was lost.
"I too have been touched by the devilish one. Ahh, but when I saw the face of God..." This sleek-Norman Rockwell-wrong way on a one way street-imitation silk-nightmare is a mountain top work of art that leads you dead on into the midst of the footstool of the heavens.
-be sure to watch it in the full blossom of the evening, and you just might experience the beatific vision...FIRE WALK WITH ME.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of TV's best pilots!
If only it were on DVD! This tape contains the classic 2 hour pilot for David Lynch's extraordinary and quirky TV cult favorite, "Twin Peaks". This 2 hour intro is NOT part of the six tape "complete" series collection that has the actual 29 episodes. There is a neat, confusing, untelevised 15 minute ending that was used to "wrap up" the whole murder when this same tape was released in Europe as a made-for-TV movie. Still, it is simply Twin Peaks at its best. ... Read more

For a couple of hours in 1990, David Lynch took over the network airwaves and subtly, subversively transformed American television forever. Amazingly, the TV series that followed this rich and strange feature-length pilot became an international phenomenon as people all over the world became obsessed by one question: Who killed Laura Palmer? Twin Peaks is the apotheosis of all things Lynch, and arguably his single greatest achievement. Set in the dark, damp, woodsy atmosphere of a small mountain town in the Pacific Northwest, Twin Peaks is a murder mystery, detective saga, soap opera, sitcom--the essence of television distilled into one mind-blowing serial. Lynch subverts TV conventions right and left, not the least by concentrating on the grief of Laura's friends and family, and orchestrating their tears into a symphony of mourning. Twin Peaks is about the endlessly seductive idea of "mystery," of the ways human beings find to deal with the unknown. It was never about solutions; after all, answers (which are invariably anticlimactic) only kill the Mystery! So, although it took another year or so before Lynch and his partner Mark Frost were eventually forced (by the network and public opinion) to reveal the identity of Laura Palmer's murderer, the tantalizing clues are the real heart of the enterprise, and they're all right here in the debut. And so are some excerpts from Agent Cooper's surrealistic dream sequence (which appeared in the third episode of the series), featuring the dancing, backward-talking little "Man from Another Place," as part of a special European-release finale (you wouldn't want to use the word "conclusion") for this video version. --Jim Emerson ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The actors certainly carry the weight of the movie...
While the plot of this movie is lacking, at times, the quality performances given by Stowe, Hurt, and especially Branagh easily redeem the movie and make it one of the most riveting films I have ever seen.

2-0 out of 5 stars a differing opinion
I gave this film an extra star due to the talented cast, but even they can't save this laughably cheesy romance "novel."

5-0 out of 5 stars Best adult movie of the 90's
This and "The End of the Affair" are two of the best movies I saw in the 90's. Both had great, imaginative story lines, with top notch actors. Nail biters to the end.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Proposition -- an excellent choice!!
I loved this movie. When it first came out, I found it to be one of the best to come out in a long time. I found it moving, full of deep emotions, and bittersweet -- all at the same time. It is romantic, yes, but so much more. In a nut shell, this movie reflects the the results of the choices we make in life, the pain and the joy of those choices.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great story line about power, greed and forbidden passion
This is a movie I enjoy watching again and again. I hesitate to go into detail about much of the story line, as revealing too much would deprive the viewer of enjoying the intriguing twists and turns of the plot. Hurt's portrayal seems wooden at times, but perhaps that is just a representation of the character he plays. For a man faced with jealousy, greed and grief, the character doesn't seem to live or act with much emotion. Stowe plays a strong and independent woman who is also a beautiful seductress - a role not uncommon for this actress. Branagh gives a fine performance (as always!) as Father Michael McKinnon. He shines in his role as the priest and storyteller. We see much of the story from his perspective. His character is the most down to earth of the cast. Blythe Danner is excellent - I do wish we would see her fine talents in more films. Neil Patrick Harris is well cast as the naive young "suitor." Anyone who enjoys a period piece, with an interesting story line, mystery, romance and passion will surely enjoy this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh, wow. I loved this movie. I watched it over and over....
This movie is just brilliant! It's amazing! It's about four girls who meet up twenty years later and it's just brilliant! Most of it is set in the summer of 1970, and it's great fun to watch. My favourite character was Samantha, played by Gaby Hoffman at 12 and Demi Moore at 32. I liked the other three as well: Teeny (Thora Birch, Melanie Griffith), Chrissy (Ashleigh Aston Moore, Rita Wilson) and Roberta (Christina Ricci, Rosie O' Donnell). All the actors were great and it's a star-studded cast featuring Janeane Garafolo and Brendan Frasier in cameos. There's only one actress making her debut, Ashleigh Aston Moore, and she gives a stunning performance as 12-year-old Chrissy. You will do anything to get your hands on this video!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars NOW AND THEN rocks!
I just love NOW AND THEN. It's about four best friends who recall their lives growing up as kids one summer. The film starts out when they are adults, going back to their home, and then it goes into the 60s when they were kids...and then at the end, back to their adulthood. The film is all about what they go through that one summer: hilarious moments, depressing moments, scary moments, and so on. They remember trying to bring back a 12-year-old boy who died and they remember trying to find out how he died. They remember stuff about their families, and they even remember the pranks they pulled on each other and pranks they pulled on a group of neighborhood boys, who also played pranks on them!

NOW AND THEN stars Rosie O'Donnell and Christina Ricci as Roberta, Demi Moore and Gaby Hoffmann as Samantha, Thora Birch and Melanie Griffith as Teeny, and Rita Wilson and Ashleigh Aston Moore as Chrissy. Devon Sawa, Bonnie Hunt, and Brendan Fraser also star in this delightful comedy classic. If you love coming of age films, then I definitely suggest this to your collection. NOW AND THEN is a wonderful film with excellent acting and a terrific screenplay. Go and buy it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for Girls!
In this film four women get together to celebrate the upcoming birth of a new baby and start reminiscing the last summer of thier 'childhood'. In the summer of 1970, the four girls explore the death of a young boy, that died years before they were born. The girls learn more about themselves then anything else. Great performances by the young stars. This is the perfect movie for slumber parties, as long as there is some Kleenex around! This 'coming of age' film is excellent. It makes you really appreciate the friendships that you have, at any age, and that there is nothing better than your own 'girlfriends'! Great film for 'mother and daughter time' for those girls 10 and up!

4-0 out of 5 stars a really cool movie
i think this movie is really good. and the casting is good too. i really like everything about it especially when the girls are younger discovering heaps of stuff and growing up \, talking about all the things teen girls talk about. so i think this is definitely a girl movie. go see it u will love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Early days of Christina Ricci & Thora Birch"
"Now and Then" is a very great depiction of growing up..
And it features the early days of 2 of now our greatest and most sexiest actresses Thora Birch (here she is a blonde) and my favorite Christina Ricci..They shine as does the other 2 girls in this more then wonderful movie..The movie features a fantastic 1970s Classic Rock soundtrack..It covers all areas of what 70s Classic Rock was..Pick up the cd soundtrack while you are at it along with this dvd..The only downside on this dvd is there is SADLY No Behind The Scenes..I wish they would have behind the scenes and bloopers of this movie would have been great..
And even better would be a reunion of the cast..Coz i am wondering what ever became of the other 2 actresses in this movie with Ricci & Birch..And this too i think they could have casted the "older" versions of the girls better then they did..Rosie O Donnell as the older Christina Ricci in Rosie's dreams..The only one of the "older" versions that is really believable that can really picture is Melanie Griffith as the "older" Thora Birth..But they are not in this movie long thankfully..They are only in start and end with maybe a total time of 5 minutes or a tad more..Not enough to ruin this great movie..The movie focuses thankfully more on Ricci / Birch and the girls..Other then what i just mentioned this is one of the greatest films you will ever see..And if you had been between ages 5 and teen years in the 1970s it will bring back loads of memories..Everything from the opening scene of the girls playing "red rover red rover let (put your name here) come over" to the music to the looks and just things did as a kid and teen in those days..It is reinacted sooooo well that you can't even tell this is a 1995 movie..The sets the feeling is total 70s..It is recreated magnificentally..I am 38 this year *2004* and it brought back many memories for me..Christina Ricci here reminds me sooooo much of My Beloved Mandy when we first met right down to a priceless basketball scene..So this movie has sentimental value to me..Watch this movie maybe it will touch you in that way too..But either way i can guarentee that it will bring back memories..It will be a fun filled viewing exsperiance..A kind of a early teen girl version of Stand By Me..Enjoyable Fun and Wonderful filmed movie adds up fun for all no matter when your generation is.NOT TO BE MISSED
Gets better with every single time you watch it..A must for any fan of the one and only Christina Ricci..If you are a fan of Christina Ricci and you don't have this movie get this movie to prove you are her fan..Christina Ricci Rules...... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WOULD YOU LIKE SOME COFFEE?
This image of the Red Room, this world of Twin peaks is horrifying!! I must admit I cried for hours after the ending of this show. I was extremely depressed, I still get depressed about and the first time I watched it was in January 2000. I really love this tape. I love TWIN PEAKS. It needs more to it. I want Lynch to direct another TWIN PEAKS movie!! I want MORE!!! PEAKS IN MY MIND HASN'T DIED. FRANKLY, I see Peaks still around, in a spooky world!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not finished...
These final episodes are perfectly showcase all that made Twin Peaks an excellent show. They have every bit of the symbolism, surrealism, and humor that gave it it's fan base.

Unfortunatly it's very obvious that the last episode was intended to be a cliff-hanger and that they expected to make more. Be warned that while it is very interesting, many questions are left un-ansered(and never will be), many new questions are asked, and the audience never knows what the fate of several of the characters is.

Of course, if you are reading this I assume you have seen the other episodes already and you're probably going to see these regardless of what I say. Enjoy...

5-0 out of 5 stars A Strong Finish to the Series
These are the final five episodes of the "Twin Peaks" series; they are somewhat of a redemption after some weak episodes immediately preceeding these. The plots are much stronger, especially those focusing on Agent Cooper. His attraction to Annie Blackburn is nicely played (with a strong romantic piece by Angelo Badalamenti). The Windom Earle plot becomes intriguing as it becomes bigger than Earle (who is overplayed by Kenneth Welsh) and delves into the supernatural (and, as mentioned in another review, becomes an inspiration for the X-Files).

The other plotlines are also strong. Especially intriguing is the Andrew Packard character, as he (along with Catherine and Pete) deals with the mysterious black box. Dan O'Herlihy has a great stage presence as Packard; I wish he could have been featured more in the series.

The build up to Episode 29 is nicely done -- Lynch's direction of the final episode has that first season feel to it (though a little darker). It would have been a great season-ending cliffhanger (I would have been interested to see if Major Briggs went to the rescue at the Black Lodge), but remains an odd end to the series.

For these espisodes, the only major complaint is that they deserve to be on DVD. For the future, I would love to see some sort of continuation of the story nearly ten years later. It would be fun to have a Lynch/Frost/Chris Carter collaboration on a movie combining "Twin Peaks" with the "X-Files." It probably won't happen, but this series deserves more.

5-0 out of 5 stars AH, THE SUBTLE WONDERS OF THE RED ROOM....
WOULDN'T IT BE WEIRD IF THIS WAS REALLY THE WAY IT ALL ENDED? WITH NO SENSE OF CLOSURE, OR POSSIBILITY OF REDEMPTION. JUST CONFUSING, TWISTED, DISHEARTENING, AND ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! COMMENTS WELCOME AT nick82e@hotmail.com

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, if you like the X-files, watch these last episodes
When they first aired Twin Peaks I; like many other people, didn't really understand and was very confused by the last section of episodes, but since then we've been treated to shows like the X-files and Dark Skies, and it's now alot easier to understand references to "Project Bluebook" and other UFO and paranormal-related stuff. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best series on television ever!
This is definitely the series that started it all...American Gothic, X Files. They have nothing on David Lynch. These last few episodes are amazing, but you must see them all. Talk about bizarre. They had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode. I watched them all in a week!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love Twin Peaks, but video quality is ATROCIOUS
I'm a big twin peaks fan, but the quality of these videos is absolutely horrible....episode 24 was totally unwatchable, it was mostly static, and the other tapes are also of similar quality. Unfortunately it seems that these poor quality videos are the only release of TP currently available, which is really too bad.

2-0 out of 5 stars A Big Dip in Quality
I hadn't seen "Twin Peaks" since the episodes first aired. While I enjoyed the earlier second season episodes much more the second time around, these particular episodes (especially 21-23) are still as bad as the first time I saw them.

One subplot, with James Hurley helping a hot blond woman fix her car, plays like a overwrought fifth season "Twilight Zone." Another embarrasing plot deals with Ben Horne and the Civil War. And Kenneth Welsh goes over the top playing Cooper's former partner, Windom Earle.

There are good parts even in these five episodes, including a wonderful performance by David Duchovny in episode 20 and continued strong acting from Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Ontkean and many others.

Episode 24 is vastly improved over the previous three and the plots become stronger as the season (and series) wound down, but I suspect the poor quality turned many viewers off. The writers didn't seem to be ready to fill the gap once Laura Palmer's murder was solved, and that probably doomed the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars DOWN....DOWN.....DOWN....
ENTER THE DEEP DARK WORLD OF DAVID LYNCH! DO NOT WATCH THE EPISODES BY THEMSELVES OR OUT OF SEQUENCE AS THIS CAN LEAD TO SEVERE CONFUSION AND HAND-WRINGING. WATCH THE PILOT FIRST (PREFERABLY THE NON-EUROPEAN ONE WITHOUT EXTRA CONFUSING SCENES), THEN EPS. 1-29, THEN THE FILM TWIN PEAKS:FIRE WALK WITH ME. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. COMMENTS WELCOME AT nick82e@hotmail.com

3-0 out of 5 stars pure curiosity kept this series alive
Twin Peaks was already losing steam long before the 20thepisode [but]I couldn't help but watch to see where Lynch would go with it. Lynch's murder mystery started off with a terrific bang that created so much interest you couldn't help but continue watching. The last episodes tend to be a bit over the top, but it is worth watching atleast once. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The videos are not what they seem
Remember those homemade tapes you had of the series when it aired originally? Unless your cable went on the fritz or you forgot to hit the record button after the commercial break, the copies were good enough to satisfy your cravings for cherry pie, a cup of joe and the whole wacky Twin Peaks gang. Hopefully you never lost them but if you did...Hurray! Because someone found your copies and dubbed them and over dubbed them and packaged them into this really poor quality set from some company called "Worldvision" A company who likes to re-sell garbage from your curb back to you. If you're desperate like me, don't have a DVD player, and are wary of e-bay, this unfortunately is your only alternative.

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning - Garbage Alert - Peakers Beware
Geez, $$$ for 5 episodes sounds like a bargain huh? Don't fall for it. I love Twin Peaks, but I was shocked to see how [bad] the quality is. I was dumb enough to buy the entire series in this 6 hour format, so it took a little while before I got to watch enough to see how horrible the quality is. I am surprised to see that they are still selling this. I am hopeful that the series will be available on DVD in the future and if it is I hope they do a decent job of digital remastering.

4-0 out of 5 stars THE FASCINATING WORLD OF DAVID LYNCH....
THE SERIES LOSES A LITTLE BIT AS IT TRIES TO FIND A NEW DIRECTION POST-LAURA PALMER. BUT THERE ARE PLENTY OF GREAT MOMENTS AND DAVID DUCHOVNY (EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT AN X-FILES FAN) STEALS PRETTY MUCH EVERY SCENE HE IS IN. ALSO, THE SERIES TAKES ON AN INTERESTING QUALITY RIGHT ABOUT HERE -- MORE HUMOR AND LIGHT-HEARTED MOMENTS. BUT I COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT THE FLIRTATION WITH SPACEMEN. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best series Ever!!!
What is there to say about the best series ever made. You'll laugh, hearing dale talk to diane and special guest appearances by David LYnch himself.

Also lots of other special guests like billy zane add a little variety to an already fabulous cast.

I recommend this to anyone, twin peaks is quite unusual.... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A mind like a dimond-David Lynch
Every scene in this fantastic series is overflowing with unconventional humor, twisted fear, raging evil, and quircky characters. There has never been a better show on television. From Coopers passion for coffe, cherry pie, and Tibet, to a guest appearance in drag by David Duchovney, Twin Peaks offer nothing ordinary. There takes a certain personality to fully enjoy the humor of this show. I love each and every member of this show. Lynch was able to capture their simplicity along with their excentricities, and he opened them up to you as though they were people in your own town. The question isn't who killed Laura Palmer. If that is all you cared about, then you missed the purpose of the show. The brilliant mind of David Lynch gave the world a look into worlds within our world, and dared us to be scared. He dared us to be a little bit crazy. To this day, there is no one in the world who scares me more than BOB.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Dale's Journey Continues...
The "Twin Peaks" saga captivates with dark intensity tinged with left-field humor. Special Agent Dale Cooper is my favorite Maclachlan role, even as I discover this series ten years later. You can't stop now; this tape only makes you anxious to see the rest of what happens! Beyond who killed Laura Palmer...WHERE IS BOB? To be continued up through episode 29!!! It'll freak you out, in that bizarre twisted way only Lynch's "Twin Peaks" and Dale Cooper can!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars The Series is Great--The VHS Tapes Are Unwatchable!
BEWARE!! I know that it's going to be hard to wait for the rest of the episodes to be released to DVD (especially if you've already purchased and watched the first seven episodes on DVD), but trust me, wait for DVD. You'll end up saving yourself a lot of time and energy. The VHS tapes are in deplorable condition--the sound goes in and out, the screen is fuzzy and jumps, and it's difficult to make out what is going on. Don't try to struggle through it--just wait for it to come out on DVD and watch it in good condition. You'll be glad you did, especially when you come across the more "shocking" and exciting scenes in episodes 10-14.

5-0 out of 5 stars ENTER THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF TWIN PEAKS...
I JUST RECENTLY FINISHED VIEWING THIS SERIES FOR THE 4th TIME, AND IT HAS NOT LOST A STEP!!! JUST A BRILLIANT AND INSIGHTFUL STUDY OF THE DEEP MYSTERIES THAT THRIVE WITHIN US ALL. DUALITY IS PRESENTED AS ENTERTAINMENT BY DAVID LYNCH. FOR ALL OF YOU THAT ENJOY TWIN PEAKS AS MUCH AS I DO, YOU HAVE THE SOON-TO-BE-RELEASED DVDS (ALTHOUGH ARTISAN IS NON-COMMITTAL ABOUT THE SEASON 2 RELEASE)TO LOOK FORWARD TO. ALSO, A RECENT EUROPEAN INTERVIEW WITH LYNCH REVEALED HE MAY BE CONSIDERING A RETURN TO TWIN PEAKS SOON.....COOL!!! COMMENTS WELCOME...

3-0 out of 5 stars weird meets weirder
Twin Peaks is undoubtably a whodunnit masterpiece, with plot twists and intriguing characters at every turn. I enjoyed the originality and suspense of the first 5 episodes, however, by episode 6 the bizarre world that Lynch created was just too much to take. What was once intriguing becomes a redundant bore. By episode 9 you are more than ready for the series to be over with and the loose ends to be tied up. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Enchanting and mind melting
If you see one you have to see them all. The best series ever. It draws you in and welcomes you to the beautiful world of David Lynch and Laura Palmer. It is dramatic, quirky and seductive. Once you start watching you'll never want to stop. Fire Walk with Me (the prequel to the series) is also wonderful because you get a chance to meet Laura Palmer and know her in all her characters glory. Makes you wish that Sheryl Lee would have gotten more time in the limelight. She puts on an excellent performance. I recommend watching the series first. The soundtracks for both the series and the film are absolutely hypnotic and I recommend them both. If you are looking for an alternate reality, welcome to mine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dave, please give us the DVD!
All I have to say is, where's the DVD? The series represents one of David Lynch's best storylines ever. It raises the bar for television. He gives the audience the benefit of the doubt, and never dumbs it down.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Most Original TV Show

5-0 out of 5 stars Twin Peaks at its intriguing brilliancy
The start of the intrigue and the mystery is presented in the first 5 episodes- the characters are introduced and the atmosphere is set. Mesmerising soundtrack, with Audrey's theme being one of my favourites. This is a must for all to see- even if you are not a hardcore Twin Peaks fan, perhaps after watching the first five you will be. Enjoy and fall into it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best TV Series EVER!
There's nothing more I need to add to what anyone else has already said about this groundbreaking, brilliant television series. Other than its existence gave me hope for the, otherwise, bland world of network television. Its cancellation dashed those hopes and confirmed my bleak opinion about network television and its viewers. Potential buyers of this series might want to check for a DVD release before buying it. This video series is recorded in EP mode, making it slightly grainy and fuzzy (even on the best players). Being that Twin Peaks is so visually (as well as aurally) amazing, I think it was kind of a rip-off, that its Extended Play recording wasn't made clear by the manufacturers. If there's never a better version released, the series is so unbelievably great, that ANY version is better than none. Just watch it anyway you can! Remember: "The owls are not what they seem."

5-0 out of 5 stars Twin Peaks is a harrowing and gripping story...brilliant!
I watched Twin Peaks for the first time this summer with my newly found beloved. I wasn't sure what to expect of it, being an early 90's TV series I was expecting some simular to the pulp series "The X-Files", Which wouldn't have been a bad thing. But I soon foud out it was something much more harrowing, gripping and meaningfull. The depth that Lynch takes it to is fantastic, as are the actors and well there is nothing negative about the first series, the second series go's of on a bit of a tangent, but is still worth watching, especailly the last few episodes.
All I can say is that I will always have fond memory's of watching this brilliant show.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best thing happened ever
This series is truly the best thing ever to happen to this planet. For all of you out there who doesn't know this: The series consist of 30 episodes and a film (Twin Peaks - Fire walk with me). Episode 1 (The pilot) and 9 (the first of season 2) is 90 minutes each and the rest is 45 minutes long. The film is about 2 hours and 10 minutes. It all begins with the discovery of Laura Palmer's body. In the beginning it seems like just another detective story, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't want to give away too much, but it builds from there to the grand finale at the end...

Just buy this...It's worth all the money. It's not easy to come by so buy it as soon as you can. The only thing you should be aware is that if you buy the boxed set or even separate tapes of this, you won't get the pilot episode. It's not for sale!!!! There is a pilot episode out there, but it's the "european version" which means it have a different ending, so the ending of the pilot doesn't match the beginning of episode 2. (Actually the pilot is listed as episode 0 and the second episode is 1 etc). So don't be fooled. It says "episode 1" on the cover, but it's actually no.2. The only way you can watch the original pilot episode with its original ending is on TV. I've heard that it's going to be released on DVD with the pilot, but you shouldn't count on it...

Well enough of the facts!! The whole thing is 26 hours and 10 minutes long and I've seen it 15 times, so you should too. (It's true, I've seen it 15 times and I'm not tired of it yet).

Thank you

I now have the full set and am delighted with the quality of the videos. Its upgraded rating is now 5 stars.

They should have stopped after the first series of Twin Peaks. The first series all ties up nicely at the end and is one of the weirdest and most original murder mysteries of all time. The second series loses its way a bit but it does have its moments and the ending is, well, just what you would expect from Twin Peaks! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars possibly the best thing David Lynch has ever done
For all the justifiable praise David Lynch received for directing (and co-writing) the pilot episode of Twin Peaks, no one has convinced me that he's ever done a finer directing job than this installment. This was, of course, the episode which introduced the little dancing man and the red-curtained room into the show, and it was a bold signal that Lynch was unafraid to take film into new and unusual territory. That he did so in the typcially conservative setting of network television is even more remarkable.

Attempting a summary of how this episode fits into the overall storyline would likely take longer than the space alloted here, but it should be remembered that the mystery of "Who killed Laura Palmer?" was never really the point of the show. The mystery it posed was really just a device to move the plot along so that we could get to know the characters, and in this respect Lynch excels. The focus of the episode is Agent Cooper's unconventional investigative tactics, but what we remember is what the process of the investigation reveals about Cooper and those around him.

We remember little moments like Cooper's joyfuul exclamation, "Damn good coffee. And hot!" These little moments are what defines character, and when you strip away everything else from Twin Peaks, character is what remains. These people are in varying degress loving, petty, deceptive and endearing. In this respect they are more like all of us than might be apparent from the first glance. David Lynch's greatest gift is that he understands this and has the skill to put it on screen. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "Please, don't make me leave".......
My favorite episode in the entire series. This was the episode where I completely fell under the spell of both Kyle Maclachlan AND Dale Cooper. To describe this episode would be to describe the essence of a dream... Sad, twisted, and (of course) dreamy. From the hilariously funny beggining, the beautiful and mysterious middle half, to the ultra-twisted and sad ending, it will take your breath away. The next week would just not come fast enough...

Gets better with every single time you watch it..A must for any fan of the one and only Christina Ricci..If you are a fan of Christina Ricci and you don't have this movie get this movie to prove you are her fan..Christina Ricci Rules...... ... Read more
