Not that bad
This movie was ok. The acting was a little off in parts, thats what bothered me. And, all the killings are off screen, so it's a little weak. It also gets a little boring and ridiculously unbeleivable.

dark asylum, but not that dark
one of the reviewers said not be able to sleep if you watch it alone? hahaha umm ok. i got the movie cause i figured it would have some suspenseful parts but there was none really to say the least, maybe a couple of small ones but nothin big. was a very predictable movie for the most part it seemed like but it was also pretty entertaining and fun to watch for the most part. think larry drake played the bad guy and he did a pretty good job of playing the mental patient, good acting all around for a half decent storyline. all in all it is worth checking out.

This was a great movie
This was an awesome movie. I rented it with a couple friends one night and we got blazed and watched this. It was a really freaky movie. Just thought I'd let you know that you should buy it.

A RARE GEM OF A THRILLER!!!
All I can say is... wow, this was a real find. I am a huge thriller fan and this movie has it all!!! If you liked Seven, Silence of the Lambs, and Halloween, then you will love DARK ASYLUM. The directing was solid, the acting was right on, and the pace was non-stop. This is a must-rent and a must-have for your video collection. I rented this movie with a new girlfriend and she was practically sitting in my lap within ten minutes!!! BE BUT WARNED: DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE ALONE - YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SLEEP!!!

dont waste your time!!!
At first apperarance this move seemed pretty cool, psychological thriller, deranged killer, mental hospital. But what actually transpired was pure low budget, poorly acted, contrived drivel! The plot was so predictable (ever hear of plot twists guys? thats what most psycho thrillers have!) As for the deranged killer, i thought i was watching one of those old Frankenstein monster movies from the 40's! all this guy need was the bolts in the neck! Lets not even talk about quality of acting, even for a 'B' movie

Little Girls' Dance Dream
If your daughter loves dance and fairy tale romance, this is the tape for her. The colors of sets and costumes are bright, colorful and engaging. There is no dialogue, however Sally Struthers narrates the story while non-stop ballet sequences portray the action. Light drama while the toy soldier finds his way back to the toy room from the sewer. My eight and ten year old daughters both enjoy this film, and have insisted on renting it more than once.

A serious attempt to update an old classic
This family move has many delightful and thoughtful moments and will leave an impact on your kids but feels sometimes slow in the storytelling and pacing. Jon Voight does a good job directing and I am curious if there will be more to come. If you are looking for a family movie without tons of special effects and more dialog based addressing serious problems ( violence, gangs, mother-son relationship) this would be the right film for you. ... The Whispering
The beginning of the movie threw me off at first. I wasn't quite sure how it tied in with everything but as I watched and got into the movie I found it very intriguing. For those of you who like a taste of the unknown and hereafter this movie may just be for you! This is the type of movie "YOU" have to experience for yourself to know whether "YOU" like it or not. I'm glad I purchased it!

one of the Producers of this Movie.
and I think This Movie is one of the Best Movies EVER.

it is my advise to you to save your bucks and go to D.Q. at least you will know what your getting.

Verry bland and missunderstanding flick
Sorry but this didn't make it for me. Being a Leif Garrett fan, I still didn't like this "horror flick"as much as the one Leif did with his mom and sister ("DEVIL TIMES FIVE"). I just didn't get the point in this,but Leif did look nice (wow!)and it seems like he added a little flavor to the movie as "Mrs. Dash" would to bland food. But I wouldn't recomend it to anyone Leif fan or not. ( Except if you are looking at it to see Leif only and that's it.)

Run from this movie as fast as you can.

Way cool fun!
I rented this movie for my whole family to watch, because there aren't too many opportunities for some wholesome family fun anymore in this crazy, violent world. I gotta say, it was hilarious! Mark Twain would be prouder than a peach! My two little girls thought the star was quite a hunk, and little Donnie talked like a prince for a week. I hope the star takes up a modern send-up of "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" next! In two words, this movie was "Toooootally rad!" Surfers definitely rule!

Real California Teens, with a touch of classic
As the guardian of a California Teen Age Boy, I found this movie fun with a lot of positive overtones. Arye Gross is listed as director in the actual movie 'credits' and I saw him directing on the beach scenes I am curious how Gregory Gieras came to be listed, as director, here on Amazon?

A wickedly entertaining update of Twain's classic story!!!
Went to a screening of the movie with my two kids (my daughter(age 7) and my son (age 11) and we all loved it!!! It is funny, touching and reminded me of the kind of movies I loved as a child. Robert Englund is excellent as the bad guy and former screen icon, Jennifer O'Neal is touching as a queen from a magical country. After the movie, I told my children about the original Twain classic and they immediately wanted to read it themselves. Let me say that anytime a movie makes children want to read the source material, it makes a movie worth watching. Go see it!!!

For those who are looking for classy family entertainment that still includes fun, adventure, and a healthy dose of romance, this is the movie for you! This is so much more than a simple "remake" of the Twain classic. In this story, the expected switch between the Prince (a teenaged visitor from the country of Gelfland) and the Surfer (Cash Canty, a rambunctious yet thoroughly modern Southern California kid) is just the beginning. Director Arye Gross and writer Gregory Poppen then thrust our heroes even deeper into the other's world by adding two key characters: Lady Galina, the spoiled young woman betrothed to Prince Edward, and Melissa "Mel" Hendon, Cash Canty's beautiful but tough-as-nails friend on the boardwalk. In addition, there is a "Roman Holiday"-like romance that blossoms between Cash Canty's father Johnny (Timothy Bottoms), and Edward's mother Queen Albertina (Jennifer O'Neill). And finally, an insidious traitor (Minister Kratski, played with manipulative glee by Robert Englund) throws even more turmoil and confusion into the mix.
