If Bugs Bunny were to direct his signature inquiry--"What's up, doc?"--toward the modern-day Warner Bros. creative team, he wouldn't be far off. For 1001 Rabbit Tales, they've doctored up a batch of classic cartoons featuring the carrot muncher and his bumbling comrades and bundled them, near seamlessly, into a feature-length film. Here's the premise: Bugs and Daffy, both book salesmen, are competing to sell the most copies of a kids' book. Instead of burrowing a beeline to his sales territory (he should have made a left at Albuquerque), Bugs ends up in the castle of Yosemite Sam, here a harem-leading honcho. Sam's pain-in-the-spurs son, Prince Abalaba, needs somebody to read him stories; Bugs, who'd sooner take the job than suffer the alternative, that involving being boiled in oil, signs on. Each rabbit-read narrative replaces a sedate story with a Loony Tunes favorite: In "Jack and the Beanstalk," a canary-keeping giant bellows "Fee, fi, fo, fat, I tawt I taw a puddy tat"; the witch in "Hansel and Gretel" develops a hankering for rabbit stew; "Goldilocks" goes feline as Sylvester swaps his porridge for suffering succotash on behalf of his bratty son. In the end, the varmint finds a way to vamoose, but, being a generous sort of bunny, he doesn't keep the address from his commission-hungry coworker. From there, the feathers fly, as does the rest of this feature, which is undiluted fun for fans of these cartoons from way back as well as those just getting to know the loopy Looney Tunes gang. --Tammy La Gorce ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Judge it by the period in which it was made
The thing that reviewers here seem to be forgetting is when this film was made: the 1980's. "Compilation" cartoons like this were the standard output for Warner Bros. throughout the 80's until they finally started producing original animated material again around 1990. They would produce various half-hour holiday specials each containing three or four cartoons linked by a loose frame story, and later they began doing movie-length ones (such as "Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island" and "Quackbusters") which would get aired on cable. Even as a kid, I knew these spliced-together productions were kind of lame, but even so, I enjoyed seeing my favorite characters in something sort-of-almost new. Mel Blanc did the voices for the linking animation.

As a nostalgia buff, I am pleased to see that these old shows still exist, despite the much better material Warner Bros. has produced since then; but they should certainly not be judged by the standards of either the classic original shorts or new animation that WB has produced since the 1990's.

Of the 80's "compilation" films, The Bugs Bunny Road Runner Movie is the first and definitely the best, because there is no attempt at a framing narrative. The linking animation simply has Bugs at his most charming (Chuck Jones directed these interstitial sequences) introducing each short.

Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie is broken into three segments, and it works reasonably well, too.

Of the other three, which do use a framing narrative, Quackbusters is the best, because it actually contains two brand new shorts in their entirety (QB was produced around the time that Warner Animation was finally waking up again from its twenty-odd year slumber), and also because they used splices of the original cartoons' music soundtracks instead of new background music, which makes the transitions from old to new material feel less jarring. Still, Quackbusters, 1001 Rabbit Tales, and Fantastic Island are weak films.

For NEW original cartoons starring the Looney Tunes characters, you should certainly check out "Carrotblanca" (oh man... casting Tweety as Peter Lorre is one of the funniest things I've ever seen...) and "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" (I gather that it's not selling many tickets, which is a pity. I saw it with my brother and his family, and we all laughed our heads off.). I'd skip "Space Jam"--it was amusing for the novelty of seeing the toons interact with real live actors, but that's about all there was to it; "Back In Action" captures their personalities much better, and Joe Alaskey does an admirable job voicing the characters.

Oh---and since it was made by Warner Animation, I'll put in a plug for "The Iron Giant," the most wonderful, underappreciated animated film of the last decade.

3-0 out of 5 stars A little disapointment
I was a little disapointed when i got this video because on the back cover it showed a clip from duck dodgers in the 24th and a half century it didnt however show that cartoon

1-0 out of 5 stars Useless chopping of perfect cartoons
If you've read any other reviews, you probably know this, but I'll say it again here: this is not new Looney Toons material, nor is it really a collection of any of the great cartoons. It is merely a lame new piece of animation, as akin to classic LT shorts as "Phantom Menace" or "Attack of the Clones" are to Star Wars, which is used to string together truncated -- *truncated*, for god's sake -- versions of great Jones/Blanc cartoons (and Freleng, too, who in spite of this fiasco directed some wonderful work at other times).

True, the shorts that were spliced together represent some of the funniest moments ever put on celluloid, but if you know any of the original works, that makes things even worse, since you know what's been cut out. The inter-cartoon material used to splice things together is anything but seamless and the lack of skill represented in these parts in comparison to the real cartoons used to propel the new story is painfully awkward.

At some point, WB management will get over their collective brain hemorrhage, admit that they will never replace Mel Blanc or Chuck Jones, kill off the Tiny Toons fiasco, and release DVDs consisting only of the Chuck Jones/Mel Blanc work in its uncut glory.

Until then, try to track down used copies of the Golden Jubliee releases, and don't waste your money or time on this garbage.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best
While you can never really go wrong with a Bug's Bunny movie, I wouldn't actively recommend this one. While there are several classic cartoon shorts here (Sylvester as "Jack" in Jack and The Beanstalk, The selectively singing Michigan J. Frog, and Bugs as a "baby monkey", to name a few), most of them are severely cut. They are woven together, (though not smoothly), through a subplot which has Bugs and Daffy on a bookselling expedition. This in itself isn't terribly funny, and doesn't really go anywhere. "The Bugs Bunny-Road Runner Movie" and "The Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie" are much better investments.

5-0 out of 5 stars If there's Bugs, there's laughs!
This movie is great, it's a bunch of episodes interwined by one story that was created after the episodes were made to make them look as if they were one big episode. Daffy will make you laugh always trying to be the smartest and always the greediest duck you'll ever know. "It's my treasure! It's my treasure!" ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars THIS TAPE RUINED MY VCR
THE CASE THIS TAPE CAME IN WAS FULL OF GLUE AROUND THE EDGES AND THE GLUE WAS ALSO ON THE TAPE ITSELF. I THOUGHT I HAD ALL THE GLUE OFF THE TAPE AND WHEN I PUT IT IN THE VCR. THE VCR ATE THE TAPE. IT WOULD NOT LET THE TAPE BE REMOVED AND BY THE TIME WE GOT THE TAPE OUT, THE MACHINE WAS RUINED AND SO WAS THE TAPE. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS DISTRIBUTOR TO MY WORSE ENEMY.I WISH I WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE ADVISE OF THE OTHERS THAT WROTE REVEIWS. MY SON WANTED THE CARTOONS SO BADLY I BOUGHT THE DUMB TAPE. PLEASE DONT BE AS BIG A SUCKER AS I WAS.

4-0 out of 5 stars rella is par funny.
personally i have to say that this collection is funny, but not as funny as pink elephant or bananas although i'd have to say just get it for the laughs to add to you're pink collection. i wish all these titles were available on dvd that would be great.

Highly Recommended for your collection.

A fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Video For Both Kids and Adult Pink Panther Fans!
I bought this for my kids last Christmas, but often find myself laughing along if I'm passing through while it is on. My 3 year old laughs out loud while watching it, which I think is great considering it is one of the "oldies but goodies" kind of cartoons that enables one to use his/her imagination for what words might be spoken if the characters could talk!

The whole family loves it, including the grandparents! It really brings back memories....too bad these are not shown on Cartoon Network (though I hear they do play reruns in the UK, we don't see that version on our Cartoon Network!).

I had no problem whatsoever with the sticky clamshell case. This video spends so much time playing in various rooms of our home, it never ends up in the case anyway! You will enjoy this collection!

4-0 out of 5 stars Panther figure glued to the outside of clamshell case now
The female Pink Panther figure included as a bonus is glued to the OUTSIDE of the clamshell CASE. There was just a very small bit of glue involved which cleaned up with the wipe of a paper towel. So theres no need to be worried about any glue being on the actual VHS cassette.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sticky, but works just fine,
This and, most other pink panther tapes cases are sticky (they put glue to hold the figures, and the ones without figures are sticky too for some reason, very strange). But even though the cases are sticky, all the tapes play just fine, and the tapes themselves aren't sticky at all! And the stickiness on the tape cases can easily be washed off with soap and water. The figure they give with this tape is a female pink panther and it is SO adorable! And the tape itself is very funny! Even though it's case is sticky it is still a 5 star tape! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a great movie with a great finale!
I used to rent this movie and used to pretend the fake wishing well at the water store was the well in this movie. I like the finale when after the last three wishes are used, the well says, "And now I say without the jokes-Th Th That's all folks!" Sometimes I say that when I complete a collection, it is cuter than just saying the famous line, "Th th That's all folks!"

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic!
I absolutely love this movie. I remember the first time I saw it in the early 80's. I never forgot it. I was five or six when I saw it. I didn't know that it was a film and searched the web until I found it. What I remember most is that sooo many cartoon characters were in it. It was an "all-star" cast. I am happy to have found it and will be happy to share it with my children one day. I think it's a classic!

3-0 out of 5 stars Bugs was always better.
This movie isn't so bad. It has Daffy and Speedy Gonzales running a hotel ( Speedy even says "De plane boss, de plane" ). Lots of cartoon characters show up and put money into a magic well, wishing for something to happen. Basically, it's a movie made of classic Looney Toons episodes. A decent movie, but not as good as Bugs. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Always enjoyable
He's a great character, just the kind that Bugs works best with.

I could go on about "modern American classics," but let's be real. These are cartoons. They're for fun. They ARE fun. That's all. Yosemite Sam is only one of many outstanding characters from WB, Mel Blanc, and the rest. Maybe he won't be the centerpiece of your library, but should be there anyway.

When I'm having a no-brain day, he's good company.

4-0 out of 5 stars Varmint Raid
Yosemite Sam has been often underwritten as one of the villians of Bugs Bunny. But this collection stretches him to the fullest of limits.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ornery!, was the very first collection to respect Sam in his maddest of form. The collection features five of Sam's best cartoons, including Wild and Wooly Here, and Rabbit Every Monday. This collection also includes the only Yosemite Sam cartoon without Bugs Bunny, Honey's money. The cartoon was a remake from a Daffy Duck cartoon called His Bitter Half, and just as funny as the original.

Although Yosemite Sam has only been honored by Warner Brothers with only two video collections, he still has got that ornery touch, to get that rabbit! ... Read more

Description

Hare we go again!

The ear-repressible Bugs Bunny takes top billing (we had no choice, it's in his contract) in this rollicking, rambunctious feature-length romp through some of the cwaziest cartoon cwassics!

Things start out plenty looney as Yosemite Sam strikes a Devilish bargain to send Bugs straight to you-know-where! The looniness continues as Daffy and Tweety tangle with a pair of feather-brained bird-napping gangsters. And in the even loonier finale, Bugs turns Hollywood's glitziest awards ceremony into a cartoon-star-studded disast-hare zone! A fabulous, 24-carrot tour de farce from animation legend Friz Freleng! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The looniest, funniest Bugs Bunny movie ever made!
This is the best Bugs Bunny movie ever! Some of my favorite scenes are:

Bugs Bunny is dressed as a French gentleman and him Yosemite Sam are doing pistols and 10 paces. Bugs says this in a French accent: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 9 1/2, 9 3/4, 9 3/16, 11/16, 12/16, 10!" Yosemite Sam is then run over by a speeding bus as he's out in the middle of the road.

Bugs is dressed as widow Emma and he rolls a table to a dizzy Yosemite Sam in a chair Bugs: "1 or 2 lumps?" Sam: "Make it 2." Bugs: "2? Okay. 1, 2! Hoo Hoo Hoo!" Sam is hit over the head with a sledgehammer two times by Bugs.

Yosemite Sam marches into a saloon and shouts: "Anyone of you lilly-livered bowl-legged varmints care to slap leather with me? In case you get any ideas, you better know who you're dealin' with!' Bugs shouts: "Eh...shut up!" Sam: "Did I hear someone say shut up?" Bugs: "Yup." My favorite part of the whole movie is the Oswald Awards ceremony. I like where they show "Three Little Bops" where the Big Bad Wolf is nominated. I knew Bugs of course would win the Oswald Award.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is very funny
This is second only to "The Bugs Bunny-Road Runner Movie" in terms of my favorite Bugs Bunny videos. It's a three parter (!) starting with "Satan's Waitin'" where Yosemite Sam tries to deliver Bugs to the devil in his place which we see through several cartoon shorts featuring the pair. Next comes "The Unmentionables" with Bugs playing Elliot Ness, er that is Elegant Mess battling against Rocky and his dimwitted gang. Next comes the cartoon oscars, featuring the classic "Three Little Bops" short and many more. The interludes are funny, and so are the shorts, although as always, they have been edited. A must have for any Looney Tunes fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR EVERY HOUSEHOLD
What can I say?! Bugs Bunny, Duck Amuck, Daffy as Robin Hood, and a whole lot of Road Runner! This movie is so funny there should be a warning label on it reading: THIS MOVIE MAY CAUSE UNCONTROLABLE LAUGHTER FOR HOURS AFTER THE VIDEO ENDS!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bugs bunny IS the hallmark of flexibility in life
Watch how bugs bunny deals with his world...he's the ultimate icon of flexibility and humor...watch this and create your own inner 'bugs bunny' as you go out and face the MORE insane real world each day...Ken Giuffre MD, author 'the care and feeding of your brain' and coming soon... 5-0 out of 5 stars Tweety Bird
I would like to see every Tweety Bird episode ever made put on DVD. Tweety Bird is my favorite Looney Toon Character of all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Who wins this time??? Tweety or Sylvester!!!!!!
I have been a big Tweety fan for over 40 years now. I have taped many Tweety shows off the TV thorugh the years as well. I happen to notice this tape and knew I had to see it. I remember a few of these shows that are on this tape. The ones that I remembered well, I did not mind watching again as I love to watch Tweety.

As usual, Sylvester the cat is after Tweety and as always Tweety is doing his best to not only get away, but also cause poor Sylvester mishaps. All these adventures will keep you laughing for hours. Tweety is way too cute in these adventures and there are also times when you do feel sorry for Sylvester.

I will always thank Mel Blanc and Fritz Freelang for coming up with all these Tweety cartoons. Adults and children alike will enjoy this tape. Granny also puts in her two cents in the shows that she is in. There are quiet a few shows on this tape to make your money well spent. I will say that my money was well spent and not just because Tweety is my all time favorite.

Also, Tweety is fiesty and sure stands up to Sylvester. He also schemes to get Sylvester in to more trouble. One does not have to be an ardent watcher of cartoons to enjoy this tape. This tape is for everyone who just wants light entertainment now and then.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Video
This is a wonderful collection of the best of tweety and sylvester the cat episodes. My two year old son wants to see it every day and it is fun for my husband and I to watch with him. Takes us back to cartoons in "our day".

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Movie
In case anyone didnt know, this is an animated film made in the late 80s. Daffy Duck inherets money from his rich uncle and starts a ghost hunting company with Bugs and Porky. Although Daffy is the star, all the classic WB characters apear in this film. This is a pretty good movie, as it combines a bunch of classic Warner Bros cartoons together into one story with new animation. The new footage is nicely animated, although the difference between it and the old cartoons are quite noticable. However, the writers do a good job of making tons of old cartoons flow together as one story.
This is a good movie, but it is by no means "one of the best animated movies of all time" as other reviewers have said. Its a good movie of course and it entertains, but it is not a classic animated feature. Why, it has no comparision by the countless classic Disney features released decades before this. But if you take it for what it is, you will enjoy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finest Animated Film of All Time!!!!
This is not only the best Loony Toons film, but quite possibly the best animated film of all time!!! I remember when this movie first came out in 1988, I rented it CONSTANTLY until my parents finally bought it for me. I have gone through several copies and am waiting for my latest copy to arrive in the mail. This is THE BEST movie ever!!! It is hilarious and GREAT for halloween coming up!! Buy this movie! It rocks!

4-0 out of 5 stars Lazy, but Still Worth While
This movie is lazy because there isn't much new footage, but it's OK because the shorts they put in it are pretty good.

5-0 out of 5 stars DAFFY DAFFY DAFFY DAFFY DAFFY!
This is my favorite Daffy Duck movie. It all start like this a millionaire leaves Daffy money but he must use the money for good and needs to provide a service to people and if Daffy thinks of selfish aims the millionaire (ghost) will make the money disappear so Daffy opens an exorcism agency and Porky, Bugs, and Sylvester work with him and they have to attend cases of ghosts and monsters in a very original way I really recommend this video why WB doesn't start releasing classics like this on DVD, Fantastic Island (Daffy's First Movie 1983), Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie, The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie and all of those cartoons on video I'm sure that many kids will buy at as many other adults trying to remember their childhood.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST FULL-LENGTH ANIMATED MOVIE FROM WB!

4-0 out of 5 stars Three classic Bugs Bunny cartoons out of five ain't half bad
Watching Bugs Bunny cartoons this weekend I am sure surprised by how many of this classic Warners Bros. cartons have "Hare" in the title. I must not have been really paying attention all these years. "Truth Or Hare" offers up five cartoons that span a period from 1951-1964, which is a lot broader than you will find on the more recent video collections: "The Fair Haired Hare" (Director Frit Freleng, 1951), has Bugs and Yosemite Sam fighting over the property rights to the land above Bugs' rabbit hole until a judge makes them share the land together; "Dr. Devil & Mr. Hare" (Robert McKimson, 1964) is not, as you might suspect, a takeoff on the Robert Louis Stevenson novella "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde," but rather what happens when Bugs takes the Tasmanian Devil to the doctor and mayhem ensues; "Wideo Wabbit" (McKimson, 1956) is my favorite cartoon on this disc, mainly from a Pop Culture perspective. Bugs is supposed to be Elmer Fudd's victim on "The Sportsman's Hour," but Bugs escapes and leads Elmer on a merry chase through all the other television shows being made in the studio; "Hare-Way to the Stars" (Chuck Jones, 1958) is the best episode on this tape, as Bugs finds himself on a rocket ship which blasts the rabbit into space where he encounters (wait for it) Marvin the Martian; and "Water, Water, Every Hare" (Jones, 1952) is a sequel to 1946's "Hair-Raising Hare," which first introduced the large hairy, orange monster (wearing sneakers) that is pursuing Bugs through this castle. "Truth Or Hare" is a mixed bag of Bugs Bunny cartoons, with the last three being vastly superior to the first two.

3-0 out of 5 stars What's Up Doc?
Bugs Bunny has always put his crazy antics among several villians. Truth or Hare, contains five cartoons that truly show an domain of laughter.

The Fair Haired Hare- By Friz Freleng, sees Yosemite Sam, living in an house with Bugs, by court order. Until Sam tries an stunt, that actually makes both sides happy. Sam winds up with an cabin in the sky. - 6 1/2 out of 10.

Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare- by Bob McKimson, was the final cartoon with Taz in Warner Brothers in the golden era of animation. Bugs tricks Taz into being hurt, and turns it into an bunch of medical mayhem. Ending with an monster they both created that hurts them both. - 7 1/2 out of 10.

Wideo Wabbit- by McKimson, reflects Bugs going on Elmer Fudd's television show. This created the spin-off People Are Bunny in 1959. Bugs tricks Elmer into several shows and parodies of Liberace, Groucho Marx, and other shows at the time. For TV, I'd rather stick with the real thing. - 6 1/2 out of 10.

Hare-way to The Stars- by Chuck Jones, reflect an chase of instant Martians by Marvin the Martian, after Bugs accidentally goes in an rocket leaving Earth. Unfortunitely, Bugs takes the Martians on his way to the Earth. I wish I could have seen what happened after the Martians landed in the sewer. I think it would be an great sequel. - 8 3/4 out of 10.

Water, Water Every Hare- also by Chuck Jones, lands Bugs into trouble, when an flood sweeps him out of his home, and into an castle with Gossamer. At the end, Gossamer is so small, he is in a boat telling an pull to surprise. - 8 out of 10.

I found this cartoon collection very funny. I didn't think it was as good as some of the other cartoon anthologies Bugs Bunny has been in. However, it does serve up an few good laughs for kids just like me. An twenty year old man, with the joy of an 9 year old. I love cartoons. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Witch Hazel is no match for Bugs Bunny!
"Bugs Bunny's Howl-Oween Special" is one hilarious cartoon telvision program. Great treat for young and old alike who love Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, and that hair pin-losing witch Witch Hazel. I own it, and must have watched it over 40 times in the last 3 years. Hilarious when Witch Hazel turns into a vampire and Bugs says "Abra Cadabra" and the vampire becomes a bat, and Bugs doesn't realize it. Bugs is sitting up in bed, and sees the bat flying across close by. He says, "Golly! What big mosquitoes they have around here. Hold still, you little devil." He smashes it on the floor. The bat manages to get up and fly out of the window. Bugs, reading the book on magic words and phrases, says "Hocus Pocus". The bat transforms back into the vampire and falls into the water below. This is just a sample of the hilarity in this video. Sounds good? Why not? You'll be spooked up in far amounts...in hilarity, that is. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

2-0 out of 5 stars Who hacked up the cartoons??
I really want to know what happened to the ORIGINAL version I saw when I was child, on television???? This has SOME of the bits and pieces, but in my opinion, has been poorly 'sewn' together into a mockery of the first TV Special. Am I the only one who can tell where the cartoon has been pieced together due to poor colour matching and voices? I am disappointed, as I had hoped I found THE original cartoon I so loved when I was young.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bugs!
Bugs Bunny at his finest hour the video start like this Bugs Bunny is trick or treating and goes to the house of the witch (I don't remember her name but the only witch that appears on these cartoons) he's costume is of a witch and when he appears at her door she thinks he is a witch but then he takes the costume off well i'm not going to write the whole story I just recommend this video I have probably seen it 10 times it's very good try to see it at least once in your life. ...

5-0 out of 5 stars Correction
The review above was right in that these are great Sylvester & Tweety cartoons. However, these cartoons were made between the years 1950 and 1957. The Roman numerals at the start of each cartoon shows that.

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Sylvester & Tweety
These shorts are classic Late 60's, early 70's Sylvester & Tweety shorts, and have nothing to do with Space Jam. Gramma, the Bulldog, etc. Great, Classic Looney Tunes. Very good technicolor quality and sound. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of Bugs ever!
I bought this video (well, actually, I had to order it, it was so popular at the time!) in 1993 while working at a Warner Bros. store because I loved the cartoons (especially the Wagner-piece) and said I wanted it in case I ever had kids. Well, almost ten years later, my kids (now seven and five) LOVE this video! (So do I!) For any Bugs fan and/or classical music buff, this is a MUST!

5-0 out of 5 stars "What's Opera, Doc?"
I think this video contains the classic "What's Opera, Doc?" Bugs dressed in the disguise of a young maiden and Elmer Fudd with his magic helmet on to help him "kill the rabbit," sing "Return My Love." Elmer falls for the maiden until she looses her golden locks. But it doesn't end there. It stays true to Opera and sort of has a tragic ending. The animation, graphics, and humor are a true materpiece.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yet another classic Bugs film.
This is one everybody has seen. This is the cartoon where Bugs is featured in many operas with his rivals. I can't remember the name, but Yosimite Sam is dressed up like a viking, and Bugs is dressed up like a princess. Also, the Barber of Siville with Bugs and Elmer is great. Great cartoons in sync with classical music. This is one of the best cartoons ever created. Bugs fan or not, you must have this. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars G-g-g-g-great!!
This video contains the first Porky cartoon as well as the first cartoon directed by Bob McKimson. I'll rate each cartoon for you now:

I Haven't Got a Hat: B
I give it a "B" solely based on the fact that it introduced Porky who went on to become their first big star.

I Love to Singa: A-
Not a Porky cartoon but a great departure directed by Tex Avery.

Brother Brat: A
WWII themed cartoon with fast action.

Little Orphan Airedale: A-
Only an "A-" because it is a remake of a cartoon Clampett did 6 years prior. But, Chuck Jones' direction brings this cartoon into the "A" range definitely.

Daffy Doodles: A+
Bob McKimson's first cartoon. He would go on to direct many other great ones besides this one. Also, he would go on to create Foghorn Leghorn, Hippety Hopper, Sylvester Jr., Speedy Gonzales, and the Tazmanian Devil.

Baby Bottleneck: A+
A Bob Clampett masterpiece!

Kitty Kornered: A+
Another Bob Clampett masterpiece!!

My Favourite Duck: A
This particular cartoon is on more compilation tapes than any other. That says something. ... Read more

This is a nice video it is the early years of sylvester and tweety it sart's with tweety's debut and end's with tweety's 1st cartoon with sylvester

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This collection goes through Sylvester's & Tweety's evolution. It starts of with Tweety's first appearance in 1942. Then it goes on to Tweety's follow-up in 1944. After that comes Sylvester's Oscar nominated first appearance in 1945. Then it's Tweety's final solo cartoon made later in '45. At last they are together in the Oscar winning "Tweetie Pie" made in 1947. After that is Sylvester's work with Foghorn Leghorn and then Elmer Fudd. This collection comes to an end with Sylvester and Tweety's follow-up film together which, as you know, lead to many many more afterwards. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Rather enjoyable
I shall rate each individual cartoon for you so that you know what you're purchasing.

Each Dawn I Crow: A
Very Hitchcock-like cartoon with Elmer Fudd in a supporting role.

Pests for Guests: A
Elmer deals with those two overly polite gophers.

Upswept Hare: A-
A Bugs and Elmer cartoon. It's not their greatset but it is still enjoyable.

Don't Axe Me: C-
Elmer Fudd's wife is a nice touch. However, the slow 50's sitcom pace ruins what could have been a funny cartoon. By the way, this cartoon is sort of Elmer Fudd's swansong. The man who did his voice died after this was made.

Robot Rabbit: A
A very good Bugs vs Elmer to end this collection. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Doris Day at her best!
Doris Day plays a struggling telephone operator that also sings on the side well one day down on his luck Producer Jack Carson hears her singing and hires her to sing for a new company he then figures out that she has a little boy! Well Jack takes her to his old Girl Friends house where they live for a while! Who is aprropriately portrayed by the famous actoress Eve Arden! Well he ends up swapping Eves car to get Doris a proper Music Beginning but she turns into a big music star! Doris plays a great mother for her little boy so sweet and kind as usual! and Jack plays an seldom used role as a bum who is good for nothing and enjoys taking advantage of women who have a lot of money for odd reasons!

4-0 out of 5 stars Doris sings, "My Dream Is Yours". Bugs Bunny surprise!
This film got me hooked on wanting to see more Doris Day films. Doris Day is a worker for a live record jukebox. Kind of like a vending machine. You put in a dime, select the tune you want to hear, and they put on a record for you. But Doris sings live instead out the speakers. Jack Carson hears the live tune. He is under pressure by Eve Arden to find a new singer. He is a talent scout. He likes the voice, but naturally can not see the girl. She is at another location, the Metropolis Music Company. Jack Carson talks to her through a microphone in the machine. Realizing he is a talent scout, she must find him and he must find her. In passing, they finally catch up and brfore you know it, she is on her way to Hollywood. She had to leave her son with Uncle Charlie for a while, for her big chance. Well, in Hollywood she is working and singing but just hasn't got that "big break". But jack carson has one more surprise for her. He brings her son, Freddie (Duncan Richardson) out to Hollywood to be with mommy and suddenly everything is fine again. That's just the beginning of this story. Now mom and child are going to live with Eve Arden. Now-gone landmarks can be seen. The Brown derby Restaurant, Schwab's Pharmacy and the Hollywood Trolley. Grauman's Chinese Theatre is here. Bugs Bunny and Mel Blanc's voice makes a surprise appearance for the children. That's Sandra Gould who 17 years later played "Mrs. Gladys Gravitz #2" on the Bewitched tv series.

5-0 out of 5 stars really great and colorful film!
his is definitly a feel good mvie and very entertaining always. The costumes are great, and Doris Day is so lovely. The music is really wonderful as well. It's a great escape and nicely done musical. Jack Carson and Dennis Morgan are great in it as well, they really shine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Doris shines in this.
It's a typical Doris Day movie, but she is so pretty and has such
a great personality it makes for the kind of movie you want to see over and over.

5-0 out of 5 stars DAY'S "DREAM" WILL BE "YOURS"
Doris Day's second motion picture was entitled "My Dream is Yours" and it was released by the Brothers Warner in 1949. In a market filled with scores of film releases, it quickly found a place as a very popular drama with music. Reportedly it was one of filmmaker Martin Scorcese's favorite film memories and it's easy to see why.
Filmed in brilliant technicolor, "Dream" also boasts a first-rate cast who worked well under director Michael Curtiz who had also helmed Day's film debut the previous year.
Jack Carson, Lee Bowman, in a decidedly unsympathetic role, Eve Arden, Adolphe Menjou, Selena Royale, S.Z. Sakall, and even Franklin Pangborn, the very distinctive character actor whose career went back to early talkies, all leave lasting marks during the telling of this tale.
Carson, fed up with the temperemental shenanigans of his radio headliner Bowman decides to find and create a new star. Miss Day, as Martha Gibson, a newly war-widowed single mother, is the young gal he decides is ripe for stardom. He brings her to Hollywood, with help from friend Arden, auditions her only to find her falling in love with Bowman. Naturally everything comes to a happy and tuneful conclusion by the time the end credits role but not before the audience has had the opportunity to smile, laugh out loud, shed some tears and see evidence anew as to why Day became a major star so quickly. It's almost impossible to fathom that this is only her second film role, so effortless is her ability to switch from sunny smile and effervescent song to moving and heartfelt scenes of dramatic impact.
As Martha, Doris Day manages to sing a variety of songs in assorted styles, whether belting out in a rather Betty Hutton manner with the upbeat "Geiger Counter Song", doing a splendid turn with "Someone Like You" or delighting in a charming animated sequence with Carson called "Wake Up Freddy" set to the tune of "The Hungarian Rhapsody". Her most moving song, however, is the old standard, "I'll String Along With You" which she delivers in a lovely sequence, singing it to her young son. She also look dazzling in this lovingly crafted production.
Jack Carson does a variation of his usual characterization but as in all his films with Day, her warmth seems to tone down some of his occasionally irritating traits. Eve Arden plays her usual wise-cracking and delightful self and in color and a lovely wardrobe, never looked better. Bowman, as noted earlier, plays a basically unsympathetic role but his scenes with Day have an underlying intensity and electricity that make them work very well.
"My Dream is Yours" which captures the magic and excitement of Hollywood in those still magical years right after the war, is much more than a musical bon bon. There are elements of "A Star is Born" and other filmland based dramas that give it a depth far greater than it's sunshine title might suggest.
The film is a lovely step in the evolution that turned Doris Day into America's sweetheart and you'll find yourself having "Day Dreams" by the film's final note. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars By no means the best or most complete Marvin collection
Who doesn't love Marvin the Martian? You would think a video collection celebrating fifty years of the plucky little guy with the oversized helmet would be terrific, but this tape is somewhat disappointing. For starters, the title includes both Marvin and his space dog K-9, yet K-9 appears in only one of the cartoons. Even stranger, you have two cartoons included that have nothing whatsoever to do with Marvin or Mars in any way. Lumber-Jack Rabbit with Bugs Bunny and Hyde and Go Tweet featuring Tweety & Sylvester are good cartoons, but I don't know what they are doing on a Marvin the Martian tape. As for the four Martian features we have on this 41-minute video, we have Haredevil Hare, Mad As a Mad Hare, Duck Dodgers and the Return of the 24 ½th Century, and Spaced-Out-Bunny. Three of them feature Bugs Bunny, while Duck Dodgers stars Daffy and Porky. Unfortunately, my favorite Marvin cartoons are not to be found here. Certainly, I love the parts where Marvin gets so mad at his computer that he could just pinch it and feels not angry but terribly, terribly hurt, but I longed for the whole Kaboom and multiplying monsters gigs. While these cartoons are certainly enjoyable, this particular tape does not in fact feature Marvin the Martian at his best or most complete.

2-0 out of 5 stars If you're not a child, don't bother!
This video was a bitter disappointment. I would go so far as to argue that it qualifies as false advertising! When I bought this video, my head was full of the wonderful Marvin moments I remember from when I was a kid (in the 70's). The ONLY worthwhile cartoon on this collection is 'Duck Dodgers,' a classic. What astounds me is that THE definitive Marvin cartoon ('Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!') is NOT on this video!! Instead, they have filled in with NON-Marvin cartoons. To make matters worse, 2 of the Marvin cartoons are the ones made late (late 60s-70s), which I thought were unwatchable when I was 7. Unfortunately, they only get worse with age.

(I live in England, but I'm an American, so I grew up on Saturday morning cartoons)
