5-0 out of 5 stars I Hope Touched by an Angel Gets Complete Season DVD Boxsets!
Touched by an Angel was one of my Dad's favorite TV shows and it became one of my favorites too. I have a lot of favorite episodes and The 151st Psalm is one of my favorites, it is a sad but touching episode about a boy who is dying and how he wants to help his mother finish a song she was writing but never finished. The mother is played by Wynnona who I think did a great job and so did the actors who played the boy and his friend. This show was very popular and I don't understand why CBS cancelled it in order to air stupid reality shows and I wish they would start making new episodes or even TV movies and I really want to see Touched by an Angel put on DVD in complete season boxsets!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I watched this episode first on TV, then I went out and bought the tape!! It was the first TV show that made me cry, but it the tears were happy tears. The acting in this episode was great. The message of love, acceptance, hope and, of course, that God loves us (more specifically you and me) went straight to my heart.

If you never buy any other Touched By An Angel videos or if you never watch another episode, make sure you get this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Finally Coming Out on DVD!
This is an update to my last review. The Touched By an Angel episodes on this tape are good but there is some great news! The First season of Touched by an Angel is being released on DVD on August 31, 2004. FYI: John Dye who played Andrew wasn't in the first season. I think he joined the show sometime during the second season and the angel in the first season who helped Tess and Monica was named Adam and played by Charles Rocket.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wanted! "Touched By An Angel" DVD boxed set
I loved "Touched By An Angel" from the beginning. I had recorded episodes sent to me while stationed in Haiti with the Army in 1996. There was discussion at the time about cancelling the show. Public outcry helped to save the show. Had that not happened, there wouldn't have been a "151st Psalm" episode (the 100th episode) that's been mentioned in so many of the previous reviews. The audience is here, the demand is here, only the supply is missing. Release this series on DVD. You won't be sorry!

4-0 out of 5 stars These episodes need to be released on DVD.
I enjoyed watching 'Touched By Angel' when it was on TV. I would like to see these episodes released on DVD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST INSPIRATIONAL TELEVISION SHOW OF ALLTIME!!!!
FIRST THERE WAS "LASSIE" THAT TOUCHED THE HEART WITH THE SIMPLE MORALS OF THE LORD, AND EXAMPLES OF HIS GREAT LOVE AND FAITH!!!! THEN CAME "WALTON'S MOUNTAIN" WHICH TOUCHED THE MORE DEEPER WITH SCRIPTURE AND LESSONS OF THE LORD'S FAITH AND LOVE, EVEN THROUGH TIMES OF HARDSHIP AND TRAGEDY, AND NOW AT LONG LAST THE GREATEST OF THESE TELEVISION SHOWS OF DEEP INSPIRATION, UNDYING LOVE, EMOTION, AND GREAT FAITH. THE CONTINUING TALES THAT TELLS US OF THE COURAGE AND STRENGTH OF "ANGELS" SENT HERE TO GUIDE US, COMFORT US, ENSURE US OF THE LORD'S GREAT LOVE FOR US, AND HIS ENDEARING CARE AS WELL FOR US ALL!!! TALES TOLD IN A TODAY'S WORLD, TORN BY WAR, HATRED, BITTER CONFLICTS, AND INSURMOUNTABLE ODDS THROUGH FLASHBACKS OF YESTERYEARS OF BYGONE TIMES WITH EVENTS AND PEOPLE OF GREAT COURAGE, THROUGH GREAT HARDSHIP AND SUFFERING. THIS SHOW HAS TOUCHED THE VERY GAMBIT OF HEAVEN AND HELL, WITHOUT GROTESQUE HORROR, OR BLOODSHED, BUT IN TURN TELLS IN ELABORATE HOUR-LONG TALES OF VARIOUS STORIES OF BEAUTY AND HUMAN CONFRONTATION SUCH AS TO RISE AND TOUCH THE VERY CHRISTIAN FAITH THAT LIES DEEP WITHIN US ALL; AND FILLS US WITH A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THOSE MORALS ARE AND HOW WE AS EVERYDAY PEOPLE CAN LEARN OURSELVES TO CONFRONT THEM, IF THEY SHOULD ARISE IN OUR OWN LIVES. EACH EPISODE HAS LEFT ME IN TEARS, AND BROUGHT ME CLOSER TO THE LORD IN SO MANY BEAUTIFUL AND THOUGHTFUL WAYS, I'M SO BLESSED FOR HAVING SEEN THIS SHOW!!!!
I ALWAYS WILL!!!! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST TELEVISION SHOW EVER!
For nine years America was "Touched by an Angel" on prime-time. When the show was cancelled last year, TV became a wasteland. Simply put, this is the greatest television program ever because of the genuis of Martha Williamson and one of the greatest ensemble casts ever to grace the TV screen.

These two episodes will show you why. I can't wait for the season by season DVD boxed sets to come out and I don't understand what Paramount is waiting for!! They will make a mint off this series.

This is one series that will rank with the classic dramas of television like "The Waltons", and "Little House".

Buy this video if you haven't yet. If you have seen the show and watched it faithfully for 9 years, the way I did, then no further explanation is needed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BLESSED BE THE CHILDEN OF GOD!!!!
"TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL" HAS TOUCHED MY HEART, AND FILLED MY LIFE WITH SO MUCH JOY AND EMOTION, THAT IN SOME WAYS IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE AND GIVEN ME A DEEPER AND GREATER UNDERSTANDING INTO A DIVINE CHRISTIAN LOVE AND FAITH I ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT!!!! THE "NETHERLANDS" EPISODE WAS THE BEST EPISODE OF THIS VIDEO; FOR IT WAS A PREMIERE EPISODE FEAUTURING VALERIE BERTENELLI AS A NEW ANGEL "GLORIA" WHO HAD TO LEARN WHAT IT WAS TO BE A REAL ANGEL, AND MONICA WHO HAD TO LEARN TO BE ANGEL ONCE MORE BEING TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL, PLAYED FIENDISHLY BY MANDY PANIKIN, AFTER FACING A HORRIFIC TRAGEDY.
OF THE MANY MORALS MONICA HAD TO LEARN, THIS WAS ONE OF HER GREATEST TESTS OF COURAGE SHE HAD TO FACE ALONE!!!! LIKE THE LORD BEING TEMPTED IN THE DESERT BY THE DEVIL, AS IT IS WRITTEN IN THE GOSPELS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT, SO MONICA TO HAD TO SUFFER A SIMULAR ORDEAL. A CHALLENGE AND A TEST OF SPIRIT THAT WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART!!!! THE GREATEST INSPIRATION TELEVISION OF ALLTIME!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Christmas Miracle
I have seen all of the "Touched by an Angel" episodes and enjoy them all! Right now one of my favorite is "Christmas Miracle". I like the songs and the singing and the story line is always inspirational.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Star Video You Can't Miss!!!
All I can say after watching this video is WoW!!!
This would have to show Touched By an Angel at its finest! The acting is superb in both epsidoes, and the storyline, as always holds a feel-good and important message, and I would reccommend seeing this for any Touched fans, and even those who aren't!

This 2 episode tape features the excellent episodes, 'The Face of God' and 'Netherlands'. The first episode, 'The Face of God' deals with the moral issues of genetics, whilst the second episode, 'Netherlands' deals with the tough issue of terrorism. Both issues are dealt with extremely well in these episodes, and make this video a MUST SEE.

As always, the Touched by an Angel cast, crew and writers have provided inspirational and uplifting episodes. Well acted all round, with great storylines, and an even greater message and meaning, there is something for everyone to get out of these 2 amazing episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Believe it or not, this was pre-September 11th!
I have only seen "The Netherlands" on television once, so I can only review this portion. Personally, I think EVERY American, every person of faith, and every person with any moral fiber whatsoever needs to see this absolutely stunning piece of film. It was shocking to me to discover that this was actually filmed and aired before September 11th! When you get to the scene where the angels recognize other angels - sorry, can't give you any further details without ruining it for you - you will know exactly what I mean. At this price, you cannot afford to miss this! Just please trust a fellow Christian and patriotic American who happens to be a stranger to you at this point: you NEED to see "The Netherlands." Though not nearly as dramatically, it, like September 11th, will leave you humbled and changed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Shallow Waters isn't Shallow
I loved this episode so much when I saw it on tv recently, that I started looking for it on video or dvd to buy! The story is great, the acting is fantastic, and everything is so much like how it can be in real life. I've never been a huge fan of this show, in fact the holiday episode with Ann-Margret was the only episode I caught. That being said, it's one of the most touching and well acted (largely in part due to Ann-Margret's brilliant performance) show I've seen in a long time. This episode will surely make you teary-eyed...I was expecting a sappy holiday episode and this is in no way that! This is a great piece of work. Ann-Margret was overlooked by the EMMY committee (as usual) for this one. ... Read more

Album Description

Import only NTSC / Region 1 DVD. 1994 film starring Russell Crowe. Synopsis, Harry, a blue-collar widower, lives with his 24-year-old son Jeff in Sydney, Australia. Harry is quite proud of his Rugby-playing plumber son, and even takes an active part in Jeff's search for Mr. Right. Yes, Jeff is gay, and his Dad is almost too good to be true in The Sum Of Us (Goldwyn). Not only does Harry encourage his son's lifestyle, he is forever breaking into the bedroom with a nice hot cup of tea for Jeff and his bed partner. Harry, through a video dating service, eventually finds a friend of his own, a divorcee named Joyce, who may not be so understanding after spying a copy of Inches magazine around the house. Dolby Digital 2.0. Full Screen. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Early Russell Crowe Gem
"Aussie" Film Stars Jack Thompson and Russell Crowe as father & son "best friends", looking for lasting love/companionship with a life partner. The aging "dad", who is a widower, habitually tries to play cupid for his gay 20-something son, seemingly spoiling all chances of "success", and eventually starts a search for his own second love.

This film is hilarious, filled with great gags throughout. The deeper message of tolerance towards gays and lesbians, as well as loyalty to a loved one in need (when the father suffers a stroke, the son refuses to abandon him, caring for him like a parent would care for a small child) is not deminished by the brilliant humor which surrounds it. "Sap-lovers" will get their fill as well!

Honored with many International Film Awards, "The Sum Of Us" adds up to a big winner! Highly recommended!*****

5-0 out of 5 stars Warm father-son story
This movie is very hard to find in the United States, and I cannot understand why it has not been re-released. I would think that someone would want to cash in on Russell Crowe's post-Gladiator success by making this film available again. I mean, they re-released his atrocious "No Way Back", for crying out loud. But alas, it appears that no one has caught on to this little gem (or that a re-release is being deliberately suppressed--that's the conspiracy theorist in me coming out).

In any case, I was lucky enough to rent this video a couple of years ago, before it was stolen from my local video store and never replaced. What a delightful surprise it turned out to be. "Sum of Us" is, at it's heart, the story of a boy and his dad. Jeff (Crowe) is looking for love in Sydney's gay bar scene. He desperately wants someone with whom he can share his life, have a beer with, cuddle up to... "Is that too much to ask?" His father, Harry (Jack Thompson), doesn't think so. He desperately wants his son to be happy, and to find true love.

Much of the film is hilarious, due in large part to Harry's keen interest in his son's sex/love life, and his openness to discussing it in front of other people. Harry is too supportive, you see, to the point of embarrassing Jeff beyond all hope. The young man whom Jeff fancies is not accustomed to such candor. In fact, he is keeping his own homosexuality a secret from his judgemental father. In the meantime, Harry is looking for love himself, now that he's nearing retirement, which causes its own comedy and drama.

In "Sum of Us", Crowe and Thompson break the fourth wall, and speak directly to the audience. This actually works for this film--it does not distract the viewer or take them out of the story. In fact, I felt the same little thrill one does when hearing a good piece of gossip. These little asides to the audience also contribute greatly to the humor. But it's not all fun and games. Jeff is a very sensitive young man, who's been deeply hurt by lovers in the past. Jeff wears his heart on his sleeve, and all of his insecurity, excitement, disappointment, longing, and adoration play across Crowe's face in a heartbreaking, uninhibited performance.

Thompson plays off Crowe perfectly, and vice versa. Their relationship is completely believable--you would think that they really were father and son. Getting on each other's nerves, pushing each other's buttons, knowing each other's weaknesses. This is a relationship rarely seen on screen--a close, loving, warm relationship between a parent and child. Dysfunctional family relationships are more volatile, dynamic, and therefore more dramatic in the minds of most screenwriters--normal people are boring. Jeff and Harry are anything but boring, and they take the viewer right along with them. You'll find yourself caring deeply about both Harry and Jeff, hoping, hoping, hoping that everything will work out for each of them in the end. This is a very engaging story, due in large part to the performances of Crowe and Thompson, and the chemistry between the two.

Don't miss it. I just purchased a used copy from, and it was worth it. This is a movie that I'm sure I'll watch over and over again, the kind of movie you dust off once a year and discover something new about it each time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Review of "The Sum of Us" by Cheri
"The Sum of Us" is a beautiful story about the unconditional love between a widowed father, Harry (Jack Thompson), and his openly gay son, Jeff (Russell Crowe). The movie shows a rare glimpse of a father's acceptance and willingness to try and understand his son's sexuality. When Jeff has a date, Harry is there to make sure his son practices safe sex, and when Harry has a stroke, Jeff is there to assume sole responsibility for his care, preparing his meals, helping him get around, and taking care of all his needs. They may drive each other crazy at times, but their unselfish acts of love for each other are heartwarming without being sickeningly sweet. I love this movie because it is honest, funny, wonderfully acted, hopeful, and real. Russell Crowe gives a brilliant performance early in his career. He is so believable you forget you are watching a movie. Jack Thompson is perfectly cast as his father. He is warm and funny. I recommend this movie to anyone that has ever loved or has ever been in love. It is a feel good movie. If you have trouble with the thick Australian accent, you can always use the subtitles.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Dream Come True!
This movie touched every part of me. The relationship between Jeff (Russell Crowe)and his father Harry (Jack Thompson) is every gay man's dream...to be able to live with his parents in harmony and respect, without having to lead a second life, not to mention the fact that we have The Gladiator, Mr. Russell Crowe portraying a character that many other leading men now will turn down. Two thumbs up for Russell Crowe, all my respect to him!

I think I can picture myself in this movie, because my relationship with my mother is just like the one portrayed by these characters...Yes, believe it or not, my mother tries to set me up every now and then, unsuccessfully I must say, but nevertheless she tried! I Love You Mom!

Five stars is not enough, I love this movie!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the sweetest movies ever
I LOVE this movie and have watched it countless times. Its funny, sad, touching, hilarious, sweet, and in general a feel good movie. All kids should have the kind of relationship that Jeff (the character played by Russell Crowe) is lucky enough to have with his father. The world would be a far better place for it.

Jeff's father, Harry, is a widow, and is not only Jeff's dad, he's also his best friend. The film focuses on their relationship with each other and with their prospective partners. Jeff is gay, and rather than being the stereotypical "movie father" full of shock at his son's sexuality, Harry is very supportive of his sons lifestyle. As Harry explains in the movie, our kids are after all "the sum of us" .

Jack Thompson and Russell Crowe are a joy to watch as Harry and Jeff, father and son, and best mates, and this is a genuinely wonderful, touching movie which draws as many tears as it does laughs. One to look out for, and well worth a watch. Harry and Jeff will stay with you long after the end credits have finished running. ... Read more

Danny Aiello stars as a fiftysomething car salesman from Los Angeles who agrees to escort a voluptuous minor (Angelina Jolie) back to the desert trailer where her seductive mother (Anne Archer) and psychotic boyfriend (Michael Biehn) wait for her. Various misadventures follow: after the young people take off, Aiello dances with the older woman under the moonlight, falls asleep, finds a body in his car trunk the next morning, and is gradually absorbed into the boyfriend's paranoid delusions. The script by Leonard Glasser is a bit intoxicated with its own offbeat tone, and the direction by Kevin Dowling leaves something to be desired about this independent feature. But the fine cast helps make up for these deficiencies, and the Mojave desert locale is a fun and unusual setting in which to see this particular group of actors on screen. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mojave Moon
I being in love with Angelina Jolie will watch any movie of hers, even if the movie wasn't so great. I of course enjoyed this movie with her being in it but it was also a stretch from the norm. It was delightful and funny but weird at the same time. Especially with its cast members like Ann Archer and Danny Aiello. It's great when actors take a chance on a movie even though it may not be a mega blockbuster hit. I watch this movie over and over and find it interesting all the time. The soundtrack is great as well. One thing, where can I find any of the songs on this soundtrack? If you know, drop me a line.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Want the Music! Especially "Annie Get Your Gun"
I loved the music in this movie, but can't find a soundtrack. Any way to find out the music score/artists?

4-0 out of 5 stars An Off-the-Wall Sleeper
This movie features Angelina Jolie in her prime (BEFORE she became a star), Michael Biehn at his most psychotic, Danny Aiello
at his most befuddled, Anne Archer sweet and sexy and a plot
with more twists and turns than a mountain road. Having said that, this is one of the GREAT "Murphy's Law" comedies of all time! Nothing seems to go quite right for poor Danny Aiello
until the very end. Meanwhile, we are treated to cadevars that
won't stay put, robbers and gunslingers who can't shoot straight,
an actor with more technique than conviction (brilliantly played
by Alfred Molina) and a nice, but brief nude scene from Angelina
Jolie. Implausible events pile up on one another like dead bodies in a Clint Eastwood shoot-em-up, yet everything is done
with a wink and a totally vacant stare that keeps you involved.
The reaction shots on the actors' faces are priceless!
This movie isn't for everyone, but if you like your comedies
oddball to off-the-wall, you'll LOVE this one!

3-0 out of 5 stars the electric chair!
I just watched Last Rites aaand liked Embeth and Quaid. I had seen it before and it was so good, I forgot what the ending was. It must have been good for me to get scared when I didn't knnnow if Quaid was live or memorex.

3-0 out of 5 stars glad i caught it on Lifetime last night
I stayed up until 2 AM so I could finish watching Last Rites, a pretty good cabler starring Randy Quaid and Embeth Davidtz. The movie stars Quaid as Jeremy Dillon, a serial killer who is shown in the beginning preparing for his execution. He's strapped to the chair and the electricity is on when all of a sudden lightning strikes the chair, leaving him alive but with "amnesia." A psychologist is brought in to evaluate him and pretty soon she begins to believe that he's changed, especially when he begins to have psychic powers that help the FBI in many ways.

Throughout this movie, I was wondering if Dillon's change of heart was real or a ploy to save himself. I thought Quaid did some of his best work to date portraying Dillon first as a cold blooded psychopath and then as someone repulsed by his crimes. Davidtz also was very good as the one woman who cares about him.
The ending was a surprise and actually was the best one they could have had. I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for a decent thriller that doesn't rely on gore. You can probably find it at Hollywood Video or Blockbuster.

5-0 out of 5 stars A second chance
A serial killer is apparently reborn, when lightning strikes as he is being electrocuted. He awakens with no memory of his crimes, and the gift of foreseeing. Is it for real? Or is it just the act of a brilliant, twisted mind, trying to stave off a rematch with the Chair? Randy Quaid will keep you guessing untill the final credits in this suspenseful drama.

5-0 out of 5 stars There is more plot here than meets the eye...
Isn't it true that we can choose to use our greatest gifts for good or evil? In this movie, a man is given a second chance to use his gifts for good. Perhaps this can be a lesson about how we should look at the murderers in our society and help them to learn how to use their gifts to save lives. Another thought-provoking movie about a man who finds truth stars Anthony Hopkins in "Instinct". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Deeply Moving
It is always easy to scoff at, or dismiss, something with an uplifting message of faith, especially if it is television. But it is not always wise, and watching this feature length edition of "Touched by an Angel" will show you why. Not having to compress this into its normal one hour slot, Martha Williamson wrote a subtle and emotional film that has substance and depth.

Bai Ling gives a deeply moving performance as Chinese dissident Jean Chang. Once a young girl with a dream of democracy for her country, she and her husband were two of the students that fateful day when the Chinese government used bullets against protesters. They were separated when she left her young daughter, named after the Statue of Liberty, to the care of their friend George (Russell Wong), never to see either again after the crackdown. She believes her husband to be dead, and her daughter, Liberty Moon, lost or in the care of strangers she may never find.

Roma Downey gives an understated performance that complements Bai Ling nicely. Monica and Jean become close as Jean returns to China with Monica and her boss, Edward Tanner (Adrian Pasdar), to translate for a business deal. But going back to her home, where her spirit once flew, will bring about a transformation where she will once again be fearless in speaking out in her search for her daughter Liberty, and liberty itself.

Edward begins to care deeply for Jean and has the opportunity to become involved in more than just his business, but only if he can recognize, and sieze the moment before it is too late. Andrew (John Dye) is along on this assignment as well.

An emotional ending that manages to both move us deeply and still give hope make this by far thee shining moment for "Touched by an Angel." Television or not, there is power here, and many deeply felt scenes. One of the most moving takes place when Monica shields Jean from a beating meant to kill her and takes the blows herself, though it is unseen by her attackers.

I can not reveal more, but if you enjoy this type of wholesome and substantive entertainment with a message, or just enjoy being moved unexpectedly by something you may have dismissed, you'll definitely will want to see "The Spirit of Liberty Moon."

5-0 out of 5 stars The most inspiring film or teleplay I've ever experienced.
The cast, writers, and crew of Touched By An Angel, are to be commended for transposing a powerful screenplay into a realistic television drama. The actors and storyline transport the audience into a world where Faith and values mean more than money and power.

We all face issues that force us make choices that test our Faith and values. Hopefully, we learn from our mistakes and grow in Wisdom. The story promotes values that transcend religion ... they are the Truth that all men need to know in order to find Peace and Happiness while struggling along life's journey.

"What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul ... "

Such Biblically-based concepts are so artfully woven into the script and represent a penetrating modernization of not necessarily the language but the impact of hearing the Gospel message.

Tied so powerfully to Richard Gere's film, Red Corner, the issue of basic human rights is developed by the episode beyond Chinese policies forcing each of us to look and decide how what we do affects the people around us.

Bai Ling's performance was powerfully moving in both, Red Corner, and in, Spirit of Liberty Moon. I can only congratulate her for the idea of Spirit of Liberty Moon, and CBS and the producers of Touched By An Angel for investing in such high-quality programming. Our country and our people can only benefit from such uplifting and dramatically entertaining viewing experiences.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touched By an Angel: The Spirit of Liberty Moon
I loved this episode! I collect all the videos of this series and watched them with my children on Sundays. We just watched The Spirit of Liberty Moon today and I still cry! very moving! I can honestly say there is'nt to many episodes I don't like.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't give up on China
I came away from watching Spirit... with a renewed hope for China. While the program is not one that ends happily for everyone, it does leave me hopeful. Change is unsettling and change in China has been tremendous and not always positive for everyone. There are important points to be learned from this program about life in China, as lived by it's citizens that it is important to consider. The sense of inevitability once Jean enters the legal system is chilling and the helplessness of all concerned to change the outcome is especially moving. At the conclusion, you can look back and see the impact that Jean has had on the people she has come in contact with; her boss in America, his slightly frantic partner who also has felt the touch of Jean, and her former partner in freedom in China who while outwardly conforming, is still harboring thoughts of improving China from within. All of them have been influenced by her. I found this program to be one of hope for China, both now and over the long haul. And it is the long haul that builds faith I think. TBAA has taken a difficult subject, shown it objectively and left us with the feeling that there is more to China than the pronouncements of those in power. This has been a hard review to write because I could see the conflict within China today yet remember the days of the Cultural Revolution and the turmoil that resulted. So to a degree I think China has progessed, but as the Spirit of Liberty Moon shows, it is an evolving progress that is far from complete. Thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Freedom has a price.
There are many true story's about moral courage around the world of which this is one. For those individuals against our system of government & justice need only view how a totalitarian government works, as this video provides a good example. You will find that generally people are sincere but governments never are. Bai Ling is silent no longer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Christmas Miracle
This episode truly serves as an inspiration to all who are looking for peace, joy, and love in any situation today!

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful Christmas themed show for TBaA!
This is a touching show about how the angels bring 2 brothers closer in understanding each other and how much they really mean to each other. This happens due to a series of events. Tess and Monica at their best! This is a tape I will watch anytime of the year. Makes you stop and think of your relationships with family members and how sometimes we dont communicate well enough to let them know how we feel. This tape will bring you entertainment and a lesson on how to accept someone even tho they are different and not make them feel like a burden.

5-0 out of 5 stars Christmastime miracles still occur
A beautiful, touching video from one of the most positively inspirational and comforting shows to date. The story of Serena (a young girl with a fatal heart condition) and Joey (a mentally disabled teenager with a paralyzing fear of the dark)'s passionate friendship fills our heart with indescribable emotion, and our angels turn in particularly beautiful performances, especially Roma Downey (Monica). Heartwrenching, uplifting, miraculous with a constant feeling of underlying truth and comfort; a story of conquering obstacles and relief of fears.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touching
When Serina, a little girl, is threatened with heart problems, her friend Joey, who is kind of strange, is afraid that when she dies, there will be no one to love him. He has an older brother, played by Randy Travis, who doesn't seem to particularly want anything to do with him. Monica and Tess step in to help, and end up in a dramatic climax. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll just say I've never seen Monica look more angelic. Later on, a con man comes to town and cashes in on the "Miracle," as the town's calling it (Monica's fantastic appearance). It turns out that Wyane (Travis) is somehow connected to this man's past. Joey belives that this man can heal him and a crack baby that he found in the manger of the church's Christmas Scene. The ending is excellent, and the movie well worth watching. The only drawback for me is that our favorite Death Angel, Andrew, was not asked to make an apperance (it's another angel named Adam). But I still love the movie, and reccomend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, a must see every year at Christmas or anytime.
I have seen the TV series on this video and also own the video, I have watched it several times and never tire of it. This is a must for all Touched By An Angel fans. Christmas is a wonderful time of year and this video only adds to that wonderful time. ... Read more

Angel Monica may have that musical Irish lilt to her speaking voice, but her singing voice is anything but heavenly. So when the voice she's always longed to sing praises to God with turns out to belong to an ungrateful teenager in "Voice of an Angel," Monica's resentment rages out of control. She abandons her assignment only to end up in a karaoke bar and then handcuffs. In a bit of stunt casting, the sullen, gum-snapping girl is played by the operatic star Charlotte Church and the boys of 'N Sync appear in cameo roles as street singers. The second episode, "Legacy," follows a more solemn track with an alum-made-good (Jere Burns) who bullies his son into attending his alma mater and joining the same fraternity. When a pledging rite goes awry, one of the son's roommates falls into a coma and the fraternity president demands cooperation in a cover-up. This thought-provoking episode examines the ethical responsibilities of a bystander. Its focus on young people enhances its value as a starting-off point for discussions on the subject with tweens or young teens. However, the roommate's eventual death may make the episode too strong for the very young. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Voice Of An Angel/Legacy
I would definitely recommend these tapes to anyone with teenagers in the house. I'm 16 myself, and I loved these episodes. They reach to the younger generation, like myself, out there. A definite must have!

2-0 out of 5 stars A Suedo Angel
I must agree with the many here who conclude that Charlotte Church cannot act. Her inclusion here seems more a charity case or an accomodation to someone in the industry. However, I will disagree with those who feel her inclusion in this program is justified based on her "angelic" conduct. Based on my many years of following her, nothing could be further from the truth...

Roma Downey saves this show with some brilliant individual acting including being intoxicated. This bit of brilliance will give this episode a saving ** rating, in spite of Charlotte.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Show.....needs to be on DVD!!
I regularly watch this program and find that it always has an important message and is always uplifting. The only problem right now is that it is not on DVD. This would be a great collectable DVD...hopefully they will release it by season!!

4-0 out of 5 stars I considered factors other than acting
As a parent searching for role models for my young children, I met Charlotte Church in many other forms before ever seeing this episode. I have seen Charlotte in concert. I have read her articles and interviews, I have participated in her numerous charities. charlotte has donated entire fortunes to good causes such as a childrens hospital in Whales. Charlotte is a charming and caring young lady with a sense of community, and quite a bit of talent. I also watched this episode of Touched By An Angel. What I saw was a role model for our young people (Charlotte Church, the opposite of Spears), take part in a program that had a real meaning. I know Charlotte can't act well. No one can act in the beginning. I'm sure that will change someday. But I was proud that this young teenager from Whales did her best, and played part in transmitting a message about the gifts we all receive, and take for granted. Look beyond the acting, to the message from a young role model, as well as the message of the story itself. The message that only Touched by and Angel can send. I don't watch the show for it's great acting achievements. I watch because it's one of the few TV shows that has something real to say, and a touching message to send. I welcome her back anytime.

1-0 out of 5 stars Leave This Show to the Angels
Charlotte Church may have a voice like an angel, but she certainly doesn't act like one. If fact, she certainly can't act at all. It probably sounded like a clever match, having the girl with "The Voice of an Angel" play a part on the "Touched by an Angel" TV show. However, Charlotte Church comes across like someone who just walked in off of the street and is reading lines from a board. I was actually more impressed by the group N'Sync than with Charlotte. This episode is O.K. but certainly not good enough to warrant buying a video of it. Roma Downey does a real good job here. Charlotte Church does sing a bit here, but not enough to make it worth purchasing this video. My recommendation is that they should leave acting to actors and singing to singers. The regular angels do fine in this series, but Charlotte Church was simply not made to act. ... Read more

Religious strife in Northern Ireland and injustice in the Sudan arethe dilemmas to be tackled by the angels in this double-episode tape. First,in "Life Before Death" (episode 616), the Irish-born Monica (Roma Downey)goes to Belfast to collect a mixed group of teens to bring them to theUnited States to build a home together and, hopefully, a bridge ofcommunication and understanding between the two groups. The effort gets offto a rocky start except for a budding romance between a Catholic boy and a"Prod" girl. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great video, especially loved
"Life Before Death" is my favourite episode of Touched by an Angel. Though I'm not Irish, I love almost everything that IS Irish. This episode really spoke to me because of the sufferening and pain caused by so much war. Tommy was my favourite character. My heart broke for him when Andrew revealed at the begining that he had been there to take both of Tommy's parents. I loved the scene with Tommy and Gavin when Gavin chastised Tommy and told him he should be at the meeting instead of reading poetry.

It was great watching the teenagers begin to trust each other and work together. The strife and pain cause by so many years of war between the Protestants and the Catholics in Ireland really came though in this episode as Tommy and Rose and the other children struggled to overcome years of hatred and violence. As Monica pointed out, the war is about more than religion - it's about economics and culture, too.

My favourite scene was at the end when the kids all sang "Let There be Peace on Earth". What a beautiful song. This episode shows that peace really can come to Ireland if the youth are willing to give it a chance, if the youth can see a world beyond the violence so many of them live with.

I'm not as familiar with "Such a time as This" but it was another episode that really struck me because of the power behind what it was saying and the message it held. So often we do not give out children the credit they deserve. "Such a time as This" is yet another example of Touched by an Angel at it's greatest. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC Christmas story.
If this won't move you to tears, I'm not sure anything will. I'm not a huge Touched By An Angel fan, but these are two episodes that I just love. Wayne (played by Randy Travis) is the callous older brother of a handicapped boy named Joey. Through these episodes, we see Wayne come to love and accept his brother, and God, more and more. Wonderful performances, especially from the guy that plays Joey (whose name I unfortunately can't remember at the moment). Definitely a worthy addition to your Christmas collection. Two thumbs up :) ... Read more

I think that the episode of Touched by an angel, Black Like Monica is a really good episode and is great that they put it on viedo. It helps us understand that even though there is no more slavery in the USA there are still people out there who are for some reason angry at colored people. I don't know why but they are. We can stand up against people like that and this show shows us how to do that without violence.I think there is a lot to be learned from it and that everyone should see it! ... Read more

Like every show this one touches me deeply. At the end i feel lifted. It makes me feel there is hope in the world. It makes me feel that i am not alone. The thought of angels being with me helps me get through the day. this video makes me happy and loved. It made me think alot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touched by an Angel
"Touched by an Angel," an on-going CBS miracle drama, has touched the lives of numerous human beings and given the world renewed hope through one simple message: "God loves you."

This entertaining, emotional, and enthralling series can also be beneficial to parents as an excellent teaching tool for their children. Each epsiode easily captures the attention of its viewers; grown-ups and kids alike can share in the angelic, yet very human characters of Monica (Roma Downey), Tess (Della Reese), and Andrew (John Dye).

I wasn't an immense fan of "Touched by an Angel" when a friend introduced the episode "Amazing Grace" to my family. My mom was slightly skeptical to begin with, and my brothers were entirely disinterested. Our friend insisted that we give it a chance, however, and by the time it was over we all had a new outlook on prejudice and the difference between looking with our eyes and looking with our hearts.

Every lesson that "Touched by an Angel" teaches is worth learning...and I have that on very high authority!

5-0 out of 5 stars A video worth watching over and over again!
I purchased this video over a year ago and I still enjoy watching it. The story really makes you think about how you look at people. I think sometimes that, if all people were born blind, there wouldn't be as much prejudice and criticism of others. With the tragedies thay we are seeing happening in our schools; we need to wake up to the fact that the country has turned it's back on God. Continue making shows that show there is hope if we have the faith in God.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most beautiful episode I have ever seen
This episode of "TBAA" was so touching. For most of the show, Monica was not able to see and she had to see with her heart. I think I was crying for most of the episode. I thought it was very moving when the whole town decided to help clean the place up and Monica was then able to see. I was balling at that point! This was probably the best episode that I have ever seen.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Eye Opening Experience
This episode of TBAA hits home on many levels. First, when Monica is blinded she must "see" life without the obstacles that can lead to racial and social prejudices. Second, we are able to witness a young man's pain when he realizes that all actions have consequences. And Third, it's never too late to make a difference in someone's life. These are but a few of the lessons learned. Each time you view this episode you will be touched by another aspect of life. Brava Martha for bringing to TV one hour a week that the whole family can experience a slice of life without unnecessary sex and violence. TBAA has allowed us to welcome many new faces into our homes by way of TV that we would all feel comfortable welcoming in person. Della, John, and Roma, you are always welcome at our table! ...
