A few HILARIOUS skits
This movie has some very hilarious skits...GOULET! Of course not all the skits are funny, but for the most part, if you like Will Farrell, you'll get your $$$'s worth...GOULET!

What a joke...
This may be the worst collection of Farrell clips they could've put together. I loved The best of Chris Farley, but this was a mess. The skits we're weak and nothing we haven't seen before in their many compilation shows.. How many times has he played Trebek? Do we really need to see the same one with Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds, and French Stewart again? And not even the whole skit on top of it all.. What a waste of money this was! What a shame......

Classic Steve Martin!

Not as fun as when I was ten
I think if they had included the studio audience laugh track, it would be more fun to watch (kind of creepy without it). The later shorts do include the laugh track, which must have come from the SNL broadcasts.

can't rewind a one minute film? Who cares? You DVD nerds are the worst.
The menu is cute.

Classic hilarity, abominable DVD
The "Mr. Bill" short films are as bizarrely endearing as ever, but the DVD is a disaster. (Note that all the earlier reviews are for the VHS tape.)

Here's the rub: ***ALL*** scanning and skipping functions are disabled throughout the entire disc! Want to go to the next film? Don't press the skip button; it won't work. You have to go back to the tedious menu and arrow your way slowly to the episode you want. Want to back up or fast forward a little in the film you're watching? Sorry, but there's no way AT ALL to do that.

This disc is a cruel joke and should be withdrawn. It cannot be recommended at all as issued, though I found it impossible to give poor Mr. Bill only one star....

Classic and hilarious
You may feel bad laughing at the sufferings of the benevolent, upbeat Mr. Bill, but you can't help it. This is as funny as anything ever seen on SNL. Although the video is less than an hour long, it packs more laughs than some of the best comedy movies. I highly, highly recommend this.

If you like Mr. Bill (or the Pizza Head commercials) get it!
This Mr. Bill video is very funny I believe. And what makes it so great, of course, is how "cheap" it's done. No one but Mr. Hands ever moves, and Mr. Bill just has to "stand" for anything Mr. Hands does to him, or anything Sluggo, a guy who hates Mr. Bill, tells Mr. Hands to do to him. And now Church Chat with the Church Lady
I almost gave this one 3 stars instead of 4, but I love Church Chat too much to not give it 4. This tape doesn't really hold that many sketches on it. The sketches that are on here, though, are the first of there kind. Dana Carvey's Church Lady takes no prisoners. Kevin Nealon makes the people around him obey his every comand as Mr. Subliminle, and who could forget Phil Hartman's genius parody of Donahue. This one also has Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short all doing the monolouge together which is spectacular. The thing is though that neither Martin, Chase, or Short apear in any sketches. But you could find Steve Martin in Toonces the Driving Cat on the best of Mr.Bill & Toonces. I would definetly recomend this video but I would also recomend getting best of Mr. Bill & Toonces to acompany it.

Worth the purchase

Old politics still funny today
The SNL Presidential Bash is the funniest collection of skits based on a theme (e.g. Halloween, Christmas, specific cast members). Even though all of the Clinton skits are missing(the anthology was produced during the 1992 election), the video contains skits that are funny even if you have superficial knowlege of politics. The video spans from the early years to the golden years (Carvey, Hartman, Farlye, et al.). In the early years, Chevy Chase interprets the bungly President Ford and Dan Akroyd plays a President Carter who knows exact details of every insignificant thing.

Dana Carvey is omnipresent. He is in the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Jon Lovitz played Dukakis, an emotionless and short candidate who had (in the skit) a mechanical lift to elevate him to the height of the podium. Carvey's Ross Perot charicature has chronic cameos as the host of the special. Perot also had a hillarious infomercial where he explained that his salary would be based upon the growth of the country ("1% growth, I don't see a dime; I'll be ok, I've got $3 billion back home...4% growth, I get $1 billion. That still leaves you up $119 billion.)

Biased Account
I agree with the other reviews in that this is a hilarious movie with a great cast. Stanley Tucci, David Strathairn, and Rene Aubergenois are surperb and you can truly see their potential for greatness in this film. I am married to Rob Vanderberry ("Coffee's on the house") and love to give him props for his one and only film credit.

If you liked the quirky "A Fish Called Wanda", you'll love this! I, too taped this several years ago when it was a PBS "American Playhouse" feature film but, alas, my poor UHF reception gave me a marginal copy. Nuts!

If I were to buy one film for $89, this would be it. I had tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard, now I have tears in my eyes over the price...

This was Stanley Tucci's beginnings (the way "Mystic Pizza" was for Julia Roberts), and he showed all the promise that led him to a good directing career as well.

This was a great "small" film that should've been seen by all movie goers but wasn't, for too many reasons to list here.

Buy it, steal it, get it, see it!!! Then go to church this Sunday and beg forgiveness... ;-)

Even us sinners deserve the great belly laughs this film has to offer - "all 10 thumbs up"!

Oh yes - call your local PBS station and BEG them to play it again. And buy yourself a good antenna.

Religion meets Reality
My God! (should I say that?) This is as funny as funny gets! Makes you want to detail your "house" move, as you'll never know just who you are moving into next door...

It's an easy 5 stars, I taped it several years ago when it was played on PBS... You say they want *what* for it? I think I feel sick...

Regardless, if you can afford it, buy it. And stay away from small towns. Expect to laugh until that hernia of yours pops the best patch that medicine has to offer...

Seriously. It's a small film, not well known, yet is genius in every way. Send this as a gift to your best friend. Or worst. Just send it... ... Read more

EDDIE MURPHY'S GREATEST COMEDY PERFORMANCES ON SNL!
Eddie Murphy's best character skecthes performed on Saturday Night Live television history in the eighties was his "Mister Robinson's Neighbourhood", "James Brown", "Stevie Wonder", "Buckwheat" and serial killer assassin "John David Stubbs". Are simply the best over it's top to a funny comedian like Murphy himself!

Eddie Murphy at his most memorable best.
That Dutch person must not understand American comedy. This video is a must for anybody whom Eddie Murphy ever made laugh. This is a wonderful set of Saturday Night Live sketches by one of the greatest comedic geniuses ever to grace SNLs stage. I wish they had more of the Buckwheat sketches, but they do have my favorite of all time: Mr. White. This makes the whole video worth buying.

Buyers beware...
If you are not a Saterday Night Live fanatic, you might what to give this one a pass. Truly only for collectors.

Eddie Murphy at his comedic best
Murphy is in peak form in this collection of his favorite sketches. His docuparody "White Like Me" perfectly showcases his knack for inspired and humorous social commentary, while his Buckwheat impressions reduce one to tears of joy. Of particular note is the second monologue in which he impersonates Stevie Wonder. In the words of the immortal Buckwheat, "Iss a-otay." ... Read more

the show was in a bad spot when crystal and short were recruited to save it and that's exactly what they did and that is the higlight of these videos and that is why this is essential if you are a fan of either of these comedians or a fan of the show. MY FAVORITE AYKROYD CHARACTER SKECTHES PERFORMED ON SNL!
Only characters that Dan Aykroyd played in which I remembered on Saturday Night Livetelevision history during the seventies and brief eighties. Was his skecthes of "The Coneheads" family with the father Belzar and Elwood one of the Blues Brothers character he did that's all to come through my mind for the moment!

SuperSNLFan's Best Of D. Aykroyd thoughts
The Best Of Dan Aykroyd was a terrific video. I mean, you can't see these classics anymore/ as NBC doesn't show SNL reruns from 1978, you know. Not everyday do you see The French Chef cut her finger and gush all over the place. And another thing-Irwin Mainway. It killed me! Fred Garvin went too far, and Crazy Ernie was dumb. Otherwise, I recommend this video to anyone who grew up on Danny, John, Chevy, Garrett, Gilda, and the rest of the Not Ready For Prime Time Players! If you love classic comedy, this is for you. If you loved this, there are about 100 other SNL videos to choose from. Hope you'll agree that this video earns 5 out of 5 stars.
