This movie is about a family who is visited by big foot. The acting in this movie is amazing! The charcters responded so realisticly. I know this is supposed to be a comedy, but the actors responded so realistcly to having a big foot living in their house. Thats the way I would have acted if it was really happening to me. Well, not much can be said about this movie. It basicly speakes for it itself. ENJOY
All kidding aside, I loved this flick when I was a kid. We had a VHS copy of the film, and my brothers and I wore it out something nuts. HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS is a family film. It's great for children and people who have yet to accept the fact that unicorns, Bigfeet and the Loch Ness Monster are "pretend." Meanwhile, you and your friends might enjoy picking this monster up from video stores on a rainy night when you just feeling like laughing at extreme silliness. I mean, c'mon guys, we're talking about some folks that run over a sasquatch and take it back to suburbia where it becomes a part of the family. If that won't make you laugh, I just don't know what will. I'm laughing just thinking about it. The part when Harry gets into the car and his head makes the roof bulge up, because he's so tall and big and strong..... golly that's just the best! Well, John Lithgow (FOOTLOSE; SHREK) may be one of the best banjo players this side of Uranus, but all that fingerpicking sure doesn't get in the way of his fathering/acting skills. He's constantly caught between doing what he thinks would be best for his family and his compassion for imaginary, Harries. However, when Jacques LaFleur (David Suchet - GREYSTOKE; A PERFECT MURDER), a hunter out for Bigfoot blood, starts sniffing the sasquatch trail, Harry and co. are forced to recruit Dr. Wallace Wrightwood (Don Ameche - TRADING PLACES; COCOON), a Bigfoot enthusiast, and flee to the hills to save Harry. Isn't that a unique tail? While the film is a winner in many ways, one can't escape the fact that Bigfoot is not a real creature! This staggering statement can't be ignored. Throughout the film, you just can't help but laugh and comment, "Hang on just a darn second! Now, that's not real. There's no such thing as Bigfoot." And, then you'd laugh out loud and smack yourself on the knee. Overall, HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS is a must-own rental for anyone with a flare for cheesy movies about nonsensically impossible creatures and the families they love. ... Read more

If the two episodes I saw are a good sample, this is a *wildly* funny show, just relentlessly hilarious -- with a bit of an "edge", if you'll excuse the cliche. I'm ready to buy the complete series on DVD anytime -- after less than an hour, I'm an instant convert!

It just ain't fair. Why does one of the most poorly-managed corporations of the 90s/00s get to own such GREAT stuff?!? As I said on another review . . . I think they're missing out on tapping the SIMPSONS/SOUTH PARK fan base. Idiocy! Bithering, numb-skulled, Bush-minded IDIOCY!!
This is "classic" Disney fare, you know, it's made for kids but it's got humor that only adults will "get". I have four or five tapes with three episodes each. Great stuff. I want ALL episodes on DVD. ... Read more

Still, it is one of my favorites. I even bought it after renting it. The class clown flunks French class, and ends up flying to Paris to salvage his grades, accompanied by the French-teacher-from-Hell. Once there, he is mistaken for a secret agent and ends up in a slapstick adventure. Next thing you know, he is soon sitting behind a Lamborgini complete with guns, parachute, and missiles, chasing a hot blonde babe. It is a parody of the James Bond movies, that most will find mildly amusing. Most of my friends roll their eyes when I pull it off the shelf. Still, I think it is one of the greatest flicks ever made. ... Read more

Amazon.com Kevin Costner plays the pilot of an American bomber running raidsinto German airspace. During a dogfight with Nazis, a piece ofenemy aircraft wedges itself into the hull of Costner's rig and jams thehatch of the ball turret gunner. The shootout cripples the landing mechanism, and the net effect is that the gunner (Casey Siemaszko) is stuck in histransparent shell, unable to get back up into the body of the plane andcertain to die horribly during an imminent, emergency landing.Spielberg keeps tightening the screws, brilliantly directing a handful of goodactors (Kiefer Sutherland is in the mix) in a tight spacerapidly filling with dread and grief. While it has to be said that theresolution of "The Mission" may well be the most improbable turn of events in television history, everything up to that point is as exciting as TV can get. Also on Book 1 is "The Wedding Ring," starring real-life spousesDanny DeVito and Rhea Perlman as a married couple who spice up their 10thyear together after DeVito, playing a costumer in a wax museum, gives hismousy bride a ring that belonged to a black-widow killer. Perlman, cast as a beleaguered waitress exploited by a callous boss, gets a personality makeover whenever she dons the ring, becoming insatiable in bed and a convincing femme fatale everywhere else. The only problem is that she's soon chasing herterrified husband around with a large kitchen knife, imbued with more thanthe sexy spirit of the ring's previous owner. Directed by DeVito, this cute episode works best as a different kind of vehicle for Perlman, who reallydoes make the screen sizzle. --Tom Keogh Reviews (4)
...and the DeVito episode is pretty good too. :)
Kiefer Sutherland, a more serious character and close companion, always keeps an eye out and protects his friend nomatter the cost. On one mission in flight over enemy lands, the plane is hit my enemy fire. The good news is they can make it back to base. But the tragedy is, the door to the bellygunner is stuck and the landing wheels are jammed. Sutherland has a tremendous decision to make, and is faced with a hard decision of his life. In a tension mounting climax, you see how the dreams and ambitions of one man can change the lives of the others around him forever. Absolutely great. The other story, The Ring, is funny as all get out. If the decision had been left to me, I wouldn't have stuck these two stories together because they are so different. I would wait a half an hour between the two so you can get the most out of them. Devito and Pearlman have a hard lesson to learn about love, and what it takes to rekindle it. Good stuff.
The gunner, being a cartoonist, frantically draws his airplane, while John Williams them races and flares. He draws his plane, and adds a pair of balloony, cartoon tires to the landing gear, which results in an impressive bending of animation and live action, for the time. And thus, the B-17 lands safely, and the gunner is united with his lady, and the crew lives happily ever after.

Roger and JP are two children who live in a foster-home with a kind woman name Maggie. Roger and JP are in love with baseball and the local Anaheim Angels who play only a few blocks from their home. They sneak into every game that they are able to, to watch their beloved team. Roger, however feels sad quite often because he wants to be back with his troubled father. His father made a deal with him that he'd be back to pick him up if the Angels ever won the pennant. During one game Roger see's angels in the outfield helping a player making a catch, and at the plate, helping them hit. But nobody else can see them, not even JP. After they tell the manager about this he has Roger motions to him whenever he sees the angels. Then the Angels start winning after starting off the season very slow. With the help of the angels that Roger sees they win the pennant. Roger gets very sad because he will have to leave Maggie and JP, but his troubled father never comes to pick him up which breaks his heart. If you are looking for a great, funny baseball movie with a fantasy twist you should check out Angels in the Outfield.

Amazon.com The real treat on Book 2, however, is the animated "Family Dog,"directed by the little-known Brad Bird but supervised by Tim Burtonlong before he became a household name. A witty and observant satire on familydysfunction as seen through the eyes of a pet pooch and perennial scapegoat,"Family Dog" follows the misadventures of a sweet-natured mutt just trying tofit in with his human housemates but betrayed at every turn. Tormented by abratty boy, prodded by an exuberant toddler, and an easy target for an unhappymom and duplicitous dad, the dog can't get a break. Burton's dark sensibilitiesare certainly in play, and the animation--while owing something to Warner andDisney--is novel and expressive. One needn't worry about young viewers watchingthis one: there's no physical brutality and the comedy always prevails. Plus, the ending proves, definitively, that every dog does indeed have hisday. --Tom Keogh Reviews (10)

The aforementioned fish-out-of-water comedic elements are occasionally amusing, but most of 'em are a bit too subtle or are not pulled off quite as effectively as they could have been (the director acknowledges this problem in the commentary track). Fortunately, the main heavy and his two bumbling henchmen pick up the levity as they set out to take the "futuristic" dirt bike for themselves. In the meantime, the hero manages to get a little action with a surprisingly assertive woman, which sets up the tried-and-true travel movie gimmick known as... well, that's be givin' away too much if ya ain't seen this yet, so I won't discuss this particular point any further. All in all, I found "TimeRider" a not-half-bad waste of an hour and a half, with the nostalgic angle enhanced by the early 80s adventure film rock music soundtrack that relied heavily on synthesizer keyboard melodies. Even the old west scenes have this kinda music, only more old west-y in sound... if that makes any sorta sense. It ain't no "Back to the Future", but it'll do in a pinch... But wait, there's more: what is a movie DVD without the obligatory theatrical trailer or two? In this instance, they threw two trailers in as well as several TV spots. BTW it was the TV spots that got my seven-year-old brain thinkin' to myself, "Hey, that movie looks kinda cool! Maybe I can harangue my older friend who lives a cross the street to go see it with me at the local multiplex!" Which is what I eventually did... Then there was the big surprise: a feature-length commentary track by the movie's director! Never in a million years did I ever think "TimeRider" would have a commentary track devoted to it, but there ya have it. Anyhoo, he goes over the usual technical stuff, talks about certain scenes and moments he felt could've been done a little better, and shows his penchant for nepotism by pointing out the various relatives he used as extras in some of the scenes. He also discusses the lessons he learned shooting the movie, which was his first feature film as a director. Ya know, the kinda stuff you usually hear in a commentary track... Now I'm gonna go off on a tangent for a moment here, but... I had a bear of a time trying to find this on video OR DVD anywhere! I went to just about every online store looking for it, and failed to get any results whatsoever on their search engines. Fortunately, I caught sight of the DVD at an "old-fashioned" brick-and-mortar setup, and found out why my searches were unsuccessful: I was typing the movie's title into the online stores' search engines as two separate words (Time Rider), rather than as one compound word (TimeRider)! I guess none of the online stores I checked out could be bothered to have their search keywords set up to where both "Time Rider" and "TimeRider" would lead to a hit for this movie... And on another tangent: I coulda' sworn there was a scene near the end where one of the bad guys got blown up by a stick of dynamite or something off-camera, and after the explosion the camera cuts to a pair of bloody, tattered boots hitting the ground. Am I thinkin' of a different movie here? I could have sworn it was here where I saw that scene. If anybody knows which flick I'm talkin' about where this moment appears, drop me an e-mail, willya? Thanks. BTW I know it's not "Raising Arizona"... Anyhoo, I gotta skate. I'm gonna go watch my other fave Fred Ward action/adventure movie that I haven't seen in a long time: "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins"! I tell ya, I'm so excited to finally see that flick again, I'm havin' trouble maintainin' bladder control... 'Late!
Am I upset? You're darn tootin' I am. Sometimes "little" things matter A LOT. ... Read more

I thought the concept was well executed. I didn't expect that the balloons' contents would be what they were. I thought all of the characters gave fine performances, that includes the balloons as well. If you have never believed in magic or can't enjoy a fantasy, this is not the movie for you. If you can you will be thoroughly entertained.
Ballon Farm is definitely nothing special. It was made for family audiences to view and enjoy (but it seems like it was made for 3 - 8 year olds). When I watched this Disney TV movie, I thought it was downright weird and predictable. Just by watching this movie you can tell the script was written for very young audiences. You'll see the adults in the film saying and doing immature things. The only positive thing about this movie is that it's extremely funny the first time you watch it (but then afterwards it just plain boring). Not to mention Disney chose poorly in picking the cast members. Overall, Balloon Farm is a waste of time and money. DO NOT BUY! ... Read more

Amazon.com The second episode is certainly one of the most thoughtful in the series:"Life on Death Row," starring Patrick Swayze in an interesting performance as a convicted murderer. Scheduled to die imminently in the electric chair,Swayze's character, Eric Peterson, joins an escape effort and is hit bylightning during a storm. The freak accident bestows on him the power toheal the sick and wounded--a cruelly ironic development, given Peterson'sforeshortened destiny. The final story, "No Day at the Beach," begins the day before the D-Dayinvasion of Normandy by allied forces, and concentrates on a handful ofsoldiers as they ready themselves psychologically for this turning point in the battle. Charlie Sheen is the best-known name among the cast in thisblack-and-white, Twilight Zone-like drama directed by Lesli LinkaGlatter. Sheen's character stands outas the one guy in his company refusing to taunt a simple-mindedGI who later becomes a hero at Normandy--or is it someone else besides that poor sap boldly taking out Germans left and right? --Tom Keogh Reviews (2)

Amazon.com Also on tap is "Blue Man Down," a solid action piece with supernaturalovertones, written by Spielberg. Max Gail stars as a traumatized,guilt-ridden cop who blames himself for the murder of his young partner. His confidence shot and his nerves a wreck, the suffering heroattempts to hide within the lesser duties of traffic detail, only to findhimself partnered with a compassionate, attractive female officer (KateMcNeil) who helps him get back on his feet and pushes him toward full duty again. The downside: no one else appears to see her. Actor-director PaulMichael Glaser does some of his best behind-the-camera work on this show. Finally, Sid Caesar stars in "Mr. Magic," a sentimental tale of anaging, washed-up nightclub magician who purchases a set of cards withmarvelous powers of flight. Rescued from the trash heap of small-timehas-beens, Caesar's character gets a new lease on life when his cards takeover the act, twirling, flying, mimicking people, and astoundingaudiences--with no help from Caesar. --Tom Keogh.
