5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for liberals and conservatives
Whether he's poking fun at George Bush (we're gonna catch these terrorists, ooh look at the kitty), French ( I make a baby smoke, you like?) or even rednecks (71 Virgils, "you gotta perty mouth, Whoooeee!). WARNING: This is Robin Williams, on HBO, and not family friendly. Also, if you have no sense of humor regardless of political affiliation, not friendly to you either. Many though Robin was gone and dead, due to such serious fare as Good Will Hunting, Insomnia and One Hour Photo, but he is alive and well. Robin runs the gammit from Luge Lessons (kagles), Utah Olympics, Bush, Cheney, Tony Blair, Brits, Scots, Golf, India, Jamaica, back to Male Enhancement Humor, Gorillas, the Crocodile Hunter, and Keeping the Misses Happy (you've got to be joking, I'm Goo-boy). If you have a thick skin, above high school intellect, and don't care how bad Williams drills The President, The Pope, or even Protestants, you'll be fine. If not, God help you all!!! Just kidding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing
Excellent, excellent, excellent!

Many of us associate Robin Williams with funny didactic movies that always end with a moral value. Well, in this live on Broadway standup routine (recorded for HBO from the Broadway Theater in New York City) Robin Williams throws whatever morallity he has out the window and enjoys an open mic.

Watching this made me laugh until I was crying and suffering abdominal pain. For those of you expecting "Flubber" or "Hook" you will be quite suprised that Mr. Williams is extremely dirty and political as he throws controversial jokes straight at the camera.

To explain the topics he covers is impossible because he is so fast and is capable of changing subjects so fast that to try to explain what it is about is far beyond my ability. In fact, he goes so fast, he finishes an entire CASE of water, which is probably about 20 bottles.

More specifically, Williams takes advantage of his large talent of character acting and astounds his audiences. As he jumps back between is French "Look, I give a cigarette to a baby" to George Dubya saying "Our economy is--oh, look at the kitty!" He is not afraid to offend anyone as he examines religeons like Episcipals, Jews, Christianity, Puritanism, Calvanism, Buddism, Hinduism, and Islam.

Because of the fact that this is a DVD, it comes with a few extra features. First is an interview which is very charming with several chuckles allthe way through. Also included is a track of noises, which are all of Robin's wacky sound effects that he creates throughout the stand up routine. For those of you who are always excited to find a secret easter egg, there is also a track called "Parental Advisory" that is 2 minutes of all the curses (which are EXTREMELY plentiful) that Robin uses. The feature is in PCM stereo as well as Dolby Digital 5.1.

The Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound I thought seemed a little weird since at random times you will hear applause behind you and it sounds unnnatural most likely due to bad mixing/editing.

I would not, however, recommend any of this DVD for children under the age of 13, depending on how mature your children are. This probably deserves to be rated R or possibly even NC-17 because of it's extremely naughty language, vulgar topics and sexual content.

All-in-all, Robin Williams is absoluletly hilarious, I think this is probably the best stand up routine I've ever seen and is definately worth the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Smart, sharp, hilarious, but overlong
This was my first exposure to Robin Williams as a standup comic, and this "Live on Broadway" act certainly makes up for all those mushy sentimental movies that he had starred in before this special. He lets loose here in a sustained comic bout of Williams-style voice impressions and sharp observations and adult jokes that I've never had the pleasure of witnessing in any of his movies (except, maybe, in small spurts). As a standup comic, he might not as smooth a performer as George Carlin (my personal favorite) is onstage, but Williams' energy makes up for a lot, and even makes otherwise stupid jokes make you laugh hysterically. (You know how you can tell he is expending as much energy as humanly possible in this show? By the huge amount of water bottles he has on stage.) His material is not as focused as some of the best standup comics, but I rather liked his improvisatory style---he goes from one thing to another in record time, giving his performance a nicely chaotic feel. (A lot of his best bits, mostly dealing with politics, are delivered quickly and randomly and then dispensed with.) And yet all of it flows together nicely (even if some bits are inevitably better than others).

So what's the problem? I think perhaps 99 minutes or so of one man comically riffing about anything and everything is still perhaps a bit too long for its own good. I've watched this on more than one occasion, and by the hour mark I always feel myself getting rather exhausted by Williams' highly energetic schtick. It is not necessarily that his material starts to become significantly weaker or repetitive (although his French-bashing does get a little tiresome after a while), but while you still marvel at Williams' energy level...I dunno, I just kinda got tired of it on some level after a while. Williams' energy may not flag, but ours does...at least until he rebounds at the end with some good bits about American sports and then about sex, particularly Viagra. Believe me, when you see his take on Viagra, you will laugh hysterically in spite of yourself.

In short, for me, "Robin Williams: Live on Broadway" is a mostly brilliant but perhaps overlong standup comedy piece (a standup comedy "epic" if there ever was one). It would have gotten five stars as a more focused hourlong show; instead, this one sprawls until we in the audience start feeling a little exhausted by his endlessly energetic (and highly profane) style. And yet there is enough brilliant stuff here---his riffs about the war in Afghanistan and homeland security rival the best, and overall there are plenty of small but great bits here and there that will grab your attention---so that this is definitely worth seeing. Certainly you will be amazed that Robin Williams actually pulls the whole damned thing off at all. Recommended.

NOTE: I have seen "Robin Williams: Live on Broadway" as it first premiered on HBO, and for some reason it is slightly longer than the program that appears on this DVD. It is beyond me why CMV Home Video thought it necessary to make some small cuts to the program for this DVD edition. (For instance, it cuts out a lines during the parts where he cracks humorously about Michael Jackson and the Enron scandal.) At least, though, the program is not significantly cut (it's only missing about a few seconds worth of material from the initial broadcast), and overall it is very much intact. (Besides, HBO and its other channels have been showing this marginally-cut version of the program on its stations ever since, anyway.) Just thought people would like to know, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny as hell
Man Robin Williams funny as hell. I pissed my pants i was laughin so damn hard. This is a great dvd. It has an easter egg that shows every cuss word he says it is hilarious. He goes on about so many diffrent topics. Its crazy. Someone must have put something in that water, he went threw about 20 bottles of it. My favorite part was when he was doin the bit about drunk scots inventing golf. " i wanna hit a ball in a gopher hole" "OH you mean like pool?" "Fu*k off pool! Not with a straight stick! With a little fu*ked up stick." " OH you mean like croquet?" "Fu*k croquet! Well put the ball hundreds of yards away. And well put tall grass and bushes just to fu*k with your ball. And at the end well put a flat spot with a flag just to give you hope. Then well put sand and bushes just to fu*k with your ball again!"
In one word Id say this movie was Geniusly Awesome super terrificly pimped out. (OK i cheated a little)

When Seinfeld wrapped up its ninth and final season in the spring of 1998, the popular show's namesake and cocreator decided to offer a symbolic gesture to his fans. Taped for HBO in August 1998, on the final date of Jerry Seinfeld's tour appearances at New York City's Broadhurst Theater, I'm Telling You for the Last Time presents the standup comedian's so-called "final" standup, or at least his final tour with the standup material that made him famous. The video opens with a great prologue in which Seinfeld's old material is literally laid to rest, with many of Seinfeld's comedy colleagues in attendance at the "funeral." (Jay Leno is there, but David Letterman is conspicuously absent, and while it's a bit self-congratulatory to show Seinfeld's fellow comedians fighting like vultures over his abandoned jokes, it's worth it just to see Garry Shandling pilfering from the catering table like a homeless intruder.)

Whether he's talking about airline flights, cab drivers, or memories of Halloween and an ill-fitting Superman costume, Seinfeld's observational humor is as timeless and sharp as the day he first performed it. Even the most familiar routines (such as the one about pharmacists with a superiority complex) are like old friends who still haven't overstayed their welcome. Seinfeld's delivery is polished to a shine--he's a consummate professional--and an impromptu Q&A with his appreciative audience demonstrates that he's equally adept with a fast and witty comeback. This performance certainly wouldn't be the last we'd see of Jerry Seinfeld, but from the perspective of phenomenal fame and fortune, it's a fitting farewell to the classic "bits" that took him to the top. --Jeff Shannon ... 5-0 out of 5 stars More down to earth than I thought
Jerry Seinfeld is as comfortable on stage as any comic I've seen. He comes out casually and just starts into his routine and he's got quite a lot of fresh material for this show.
What struck me the most was how humble the guy appears, despite his success with his show. He seems genuinely touched when the audience gives him a standing ovation both at the beginning of his set and at the end.
The DVD itself is really great. You get a very nicely-shot show and on top of this you get a q&a with Jerry that happened post-show. Jerry is quick with witty comments as the audience asks him to do "Hello Newman" and offers other various comments. Jerry Seinfeld is definitely one of the best comedians out there, both on TV and on the stage.
Definitely worth the asking price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but it's been done before
I have to say, I was very remotely disappointed with this DVD. I do think that it was an amazingly gutsy thing for Jerry Seinfeld to do. If I were a stand-up comedian (and thank goodness I'm not) I would never be able to bring myself to throw out all my material and start from scratch.

The thing which is disappointing about this HBO special, is that you probably have heard it all before. Or most of it anyway. A fair half of the material is used either in the Seinfeld TV series, or SeinLanguage. However, there is enough new and hilarious material to keep true fans happy and to convince them to buy this DVD.

Oh, but don't get me wrong. I had a lot of fun watching this special. I thought it was quite funny, and I liked it enough to buy the VHS when I saw it on sale at a local bookstore.

A good follow-up to this DVD would be "Comedian" which you could describe as a sequel to "I'm Telling You For The Last Time." This is the documentary of how Jerry Seinfeld rebuilds his act and assembles an entirely new repetoire of jokes. Very interesting and very enlightening.

5-0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS!!!!
Jerry Seinfeld's comedy is very subtle, not like Robin Willaims or Adam Sandler (both good, but no Seinfelds) which are loud and obnouix. He's very funny. He talks about every subject you can think of, and I don't understand reveiws saying his heart wasn't into it, because being comfortable on stage is a GOOD thing!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Something of a letdown
The 75-minute stand-up routine has its funny moments, but Jerry's heart just doesn't seem in it after the several times I've watched this DVD. I don't regret the purchase, but it's not as good as I expected. The bits, of course, are trademark Seinfield stuff, throwaway conversation that Jerry makes funny with his classic delivery. There's an odd, somewhat amusing would-be funeral for Jerry's material before the actual performance, and it features Ed McMahon, Alan King, Garry Shandling and many other comedians. Cute, but not terribly memorable. But the Q&A session after the performance is very interesting, and it displays Jerry's comedic genius admirably--you realize immediately how fast on his feet he is with his snappy comebacks to questions from audience members. Recommended for anyone who loves Jerry Seinfeld, but it might not be the laugh riot you're expecting.

1-0 out of 5 stars IS THIS SUPOSSED TO BE CALLED "COMEDY"?
Jerry Seinfeld has to be the lamest stand-up comedian that I've ever heard. The guy seems to find things like airplane peanuts, computer dust, and socks in a laundry basket funny.

If you really want to hear a truly funny and intelligent stand-up comedian, check Chris Rock. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This needs to be put out on DVD!
If you like Alice, you're gonna love it! The Coop returns to the arena where he belongs still to this day! He's still this good live if you haven't seen him in the last couple of years. For a more modern rendering, get the "Brutally Live" DVD & crank it up in DTS! But back to the Nightmare; great show as usual from Alice with Kip Winger on bass & Paul then Horowitz (Taylor, Winger keyboard/rhythm guitarist) on keys & the absolutely phenomenal Ken Mary on drums (by far the best drummer Alice has ever had!). An excellent investment for Alice fans, but the DVD would sound better! The Wolf

3-0 out of 5 stars Older Concert - Not Up To Par With Brutal Planet
The first few songs almost make Alice appear he can't sing a note. As the concert progresses, the concert does get better, but this VHS tape has nothing on it compared to his most recent work - BRUTAL PLANET! Get the Brutal Planet DVD and leave this one on the shelf.

3-0 out of 5 stars Older Concert Just Doesn't Make It
This concert is a bit old and hard to visualize after watching his Brutal Planet DVD concert just last year. The first few songs almost make Alice appear as though he can't sing a note. Once the concert gets going, it's okay, but nothing worth really entertaining. His band wasn't much during this tour and only the classics really make this video worth purchasing. If you want a better concert - purchase the Brutal Planet DVD - that's entertainment!

5-0 out of 5 stars Alice in his best form!!!
This is the best Alice concert I ever watched! It has Alice doing everything he use to with out the staggering! I esspecialy loved the part where the lead guitar player takes out a machine gun guitar and makes it look like its firing! Get this video at all costs!

5-0 out of 5 stars mind boggling!
Not only have I seen this video, but I was fortunate enough to see it live at the Patriot Center in VA, way back in '86. The sound was incredible, the theatrics better than any splatter film, and then there's Alice, the psycho-hero, what more could you ask for, it's shock rock at its purest, from the one who started it all. If you like Manson, then wait til you see the original. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Mac performance
The Mirage tour came at a time when the Mac members were pursuing solo careers, and finding it hard to get back into the classic Mac mood after the draining Tusk tour. Some solo careers were more successful than others however, naming no names..... The video features a large selection of Lindsey Buckingham songs, a fair amount of Christine McVie songs, and a pitiful three Stevie Nicks contributions. The music in some cases is very raw and wild, like a classic rock concert where the musicians are just playing what they want in any way they want, which is great, but Buckingham's 'Not That Funny' is about 10 minutes long, consisting of him dancing and playing fairly pathetic guitar, which makes the video a bit like .. 'OK, let's fast forward this bit, and this bit, and this bit', until you get to a 'proper song', like 'Blue Letter', 'You Make Loving Fun', and the moving and incredibly powerful performance of the Tusk album gem 'Sisters of the Moon.' It is interesting to see Fleetwood Mac perform at this point of self expression through solo careers, particularly Buckingham, who seemed to want to stay in his garage instead of playing with the Mac. Besides the slightly strained moments, this video is worth buying if you have some spare money about, as it captures a point of Mac history where creativity was at a peak, as well as some of the feelings between band members. The set list is unusual, which is very refreshing these days amidst just the old well known numbers which can get extremely tiresome. Buy this if you want to hear songs you didn't think had been performed, like 'Sisters of the Moon', 'Eyes of the world' and 'Blue Letter'. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sam Kinison - Banned
It was a great video. For anyone who does not remember Sam's life was abruptly cut short on the night of April 10, 1992 by a head on collision in Needles by a teenaged drunk driver. Sam and his wife were returning from a sold out show in Laughlin when the accident occured. Sam was killed instantly and his wife was also severly injured but she survived. It is a great loss to lose someone such as Sam. Thanks to modern technology he will live on forever. Thanks for all the laughs Sam!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Banned... You mean Bland!
This show was done in the early 90's and you could tell. Overall it was a weak stand-up. I can only compare it to when I saw him at his peak in 1994 when he was probably the best Comic around.

a classic...sam at his uproarious best...nobody compares...especially that NOBODY bobcat golddigger...long live sam !

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST STAND UP COMEDY VIDEO OF THE 80'S!
Sam Kinison will always be the king of trash stand-up, and this video displays exactly that. He explores many subjects ranging from anal nitrate to detox clinics to the condemnation of "old people." My favorite segment of the video was when Kinison picked out a guy from the audience and asked him if a past girlfriend has ever screwed him over before and if so then what is her number. He responds by giving Kinison her number and Kinison calls over to her house. Kinison is greeted by her friend who said she is out on a date, and Kinison counteracts by yelling an onslaught of obscene wisdom at her, too hilarious for words! This is Kinison's greatest set! If you love stand-up comedy or comedy in general see this video!

5-0 out of 5 stars From one "Wild Thing" to another.... Sam kicks ***....
Sam is over the edge in every subject. Not for the faint of heart. His shows were worth fighting the picket lines to attend. Rest in peace, Sam.... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars America's greatest band at their best
All I can say is - WOW! My favorite band of all time never disappoint. This delightful little collection contains all their classics - songs you can listen to again and again.

Aerosmith aren't just the greatest band in America - they are the greatest band in the WORLD - still going strong today despite that some of today's acts in music aim for the youth culture. Aerosmith have the potential to rock our worlds for as long as they can handle. I would recommend this VHS to anyone who even just remotely likes them. You can see the videos of "Eat The Rich", "Livin' On The Edge", "Ragdoll", "Dude (Looks Like A Lady", "Angel" "The Other Side" "Janie's Got A Gun" and the MTV classics "Cryin'", "Amazing" and "Crazy" which feature the absolutely stunning Alicia Silverstone who oozes with sex appeal in all three of these videos.

Between each video you get the chance to witness behind the scenes, interviewing the Bad boys from Boston about going on tour, the making of the videos etc. A delightful package which charts the success of this legendary band.

Keep a look out for Edward Furlong (of Terminator 2 fame) who stars in the video to the timeless classic "Livin' On The Edge".

Anyone who likes rock's greatest band should purchase this. A true gem. I can only hope their record company decide to release a live DVD soon of one of Aerosmith's gigs because that is the only thing I can imagine that would be better than this fantastic video!! GO ON AEROSMITH - KEEP ROCKING MY WORLD!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't miss a single. Truly the biggest!
"Big Ones" is surprisingly comprehensive for a set of hits from a group that couldn't stop cranking them out in that time period.

Aerosmith is the best American rock band, period. It wasn't until the mid eighties that the really caught up with the rest of the world. The hits started cranking out on their "Permanent Vacation" album with cool rock like "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)", a very cleaver smack at make up laced heavy metals stars. I also can't forget the sensitive, sweet sounds of "Angel" (talk about your AC Top 40 stuff) and the unforgettable "Rag Doll" (Joe and Brad at his best guitar work not to mention a great drum part on behalf of Joey and thumping bass by Tom). The "Pump" tracks also rock hard. You got everything from the catchy horns of "The Other Side" to the painfully great love county type song "What It Takes". The ultimate "Pump" songs are Aerosmith's generally best ever from the mesmerizing story of "Janie's Got A Gun" to the party fest of "Love In An Elevator". Then comes the mixed bag of everything that is "Get A Grip". Everything from the breakup standards like "Cryin'" to the driving "Eat The Rich". Don't forget the new tracks "Walk On Water (sounds like old experimental Aero) and the hard rock wisdom of "Blind Man". The extra "Deuces Are Wild" is a big could have been hit from the group off of "The Beavis And Butthead Experience".

The band really has it together here. Great party music with that's fun and with nice writing. It's not as big as some of their old Columbia stuff and not as gritty either. It's just the band playing their best and Steven singing his heart out. I think I like the "Pump" tracks the most and the "Grip" tracks are the least awesome (still really good though, just not as exciting to me). If you love hard rock, this set is really for you. The album is full of the best of the decade and is a lot better-played then hair band stuff.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best introduction to the "new" Aerosmith
I'm gonna stay out of the "old vs new Aerosmith" debates that many seem to have. Although I prefer the new version covered here (since it was their first stuff I heard), I like their older material too.

That out of the way, this was (in 1994, at least) the best way to get all their "new" era hits in one place. Even though the guys now probably have more hits collections than some bands have albums, this is the best place IMHO for a new fan of their 1987-1994 to start.

Starting with 87's PERMANENT VACATION, we have the hilarious, pop/metal classic tale of "Dude Looks Like A Lady"; the sweet but still rocking 80's power ballad "Angel"; and the somewhat old style bluesy hard rocker "Rag Doll."

1989's PUMP gets four songs. The funny office fantasy arena metal "Love in an Elevator"; the serious and edgy yet melodic "Janie's Got a Gun"; and the more stripped down power ballad "What it Takes"; and the somewhat Rolling Stones sounding rocker "The Other Side."

1993's GET A GRIP gets the biggest representation with five (!) songs. The cannibalism in-jokes of the underrated minor hard rock hit "Eat the Rich"; the mid tempo and more serious classic rocker "Living on the Edge"; and the three soundalike longer rock ballads "Cryin," "Amazing," and the emotional huge hit "Crazy" (with the Alicia Silverstone video).

There's also three songs that were recorded new for this collection. The hard rock swagger of the slightly 70's yet modern "Walk on Water," the more serious, also older sounding "Blind Man" and the poppy semi ballad "Deuces Are Wild."

There's several smaller hits and popular album tracks missing. PV's title track and "Hangman Jury"; PUMP's hard rockers "Young Lust" and "Monkey on My Back"; GRIP's "Line Up," as well as the Run DMC version of "Walk This Way." I'd recommend anyone a step up from a casual Aero' fan of this era to pick up all three of these albums represented here, but, as I said, this is a good starting place to see which songs you prefer.

All those albums have a slightly different sound. PV was the pop/hair metal sounding one - like Bon Jovi and Def Leppard meet classic rock. PUMP was the gritty hard rock one with some 80's thrown in. GRIP was the part retro, part modern mellower classic rock one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Aerosmith mach 3 : The Invincible Years
by the time the mid-1980's rolled around, many felt that Aerosmith were a once-great relic of the mid 1970's. They released four great albums between 1973-1976, but started with Draw The Line, it started turning on them. By the mid-1980's, Aerosmith had been long past their peak and they hadn't had a hit single in years. This all changed when they met Run DMC.

Being smart and knowing when to strike when the iron is hot, Aerosmith came back with Permanent Vacation in 1987 on Geffen (their first Geffen album, Done With Mirrors, was extremely underrated, check it out). Dude (Looks Like A Lady) was the first single and went to #14, becoming their biggest hit in a decade. However, this comeback single was not a fluke, it became the first of 11 straight singles (every single one collected on here) to make the top 30 (Eat The Rich and Deuces Are Wild were both smash hits on rock radio, and Blind Man and Walk On Water were the new tracks, Blind Man peaked in the 40's and Walk On Water barely got noticed when released in early 1995). Aerosmith were not only hot during 1987-1994, but they were actually hotter than they were in the 1970's!

Only 2 tracks (Rag Doll and Walk On Water) of the 15 recreate the gritty bluesy classic rock sound that Aerosmith perfected in the 1970's, so many fans of classic 70's Aerosmith aren't so fond of this "poppier" sound. However, for many of us who grew up in the 80's and early 90's, this is the Aerosmith we knew first.

I hope one day that there will be a comprehensive 1973-1982 collection (instead of a ten track) of the Columbia years, but when it comes to the Geffen years of Aerosmith, this is as good as it gets. The 2-disc "Young Lust" collection includes way too much from just 4 albums that it'd be cheaper to just go and buy the 4 albums seperately. BIG ONES is a Greatest Hits collection that delivers, every track on the album was a hit in some form or another, and there's nothing from 87-93 that's missing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Music lives up to the title
How can you not love a band that comes up with the perfect title for their second greatest hits package? It could also be called "Back from the morgue" because this collection reflects the second coming of Aerosmith quite well. There's not a dead spot on the cd. Every song rolls into the next with ease. The guitar performances, Tyler's vocals and superb drumming make this band one of the very best ever and hearing these tunes back to back confirms it. Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not ashamed to admit it! Britney is HOT!
I happened to be going to a conference in Vegas the week that Britney was performing at the MGM Grand. I heard Rosie O'Donnel Say on her show that she had just got tickets for the Britney show in Vegas on the 18th of November. Not paying much attention I quickly forgot all about it. The following day I got bored at work and while daydreaming I remembered what Rosie had said and thought, what the heck, "I'll check out the ticket prices", Figuring that they would be sold out for sure and I had no idea of when they went on sale. Much to my surprise they still had seats available, so I (just to see) typed in 2 seats and I could not believe that the seats were really good and not high priced considering what I have paid recently for concert tickets, like for Madonna. (well worth it though).
Anyway, bought the tickets, went to the show and although compared to the majority of those around me, I felt like a grandpa(I am 30). Even so, as much as I tried to act my age, before I knew it, I was up on my feet and feeling the energy.
I was not expecting much and have to say was embarrased to admit to anyone at home that I was even going. After her incredible show, I have admited to everyone that I am a fan of Britney Spears and you will be too, I guarantee it! I am sure the DVD will be less powerful than seeing it live, but just feel her amazing energy and see her for what she is, A young woman living out her dreams and allowing us to tag along! AMAZING!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is THE BEST CONCERT OF ALL TIME!!!! she puts on the best show.. you don't need to be a britney fan to appreciate this spectacle! Its got fireworks, rain, fire, lights an amzing HUGE stage setup. the costumes are amazing, the dancing is WOW!!! This shows what britney is best at she is a born entertainer! What i also loved about it was that she remixed her older songs such as baby one more time, oops i did it again and made them much more enjoyable and they WENT OFF!!!! She has lots of energy and LOOKS HOT!! Her choreography is incredible and shows you what britney is really about!! Also inbetween the songs she has the background dancers dance along to club music which also adds to the energy of the show!!!

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this DVD to anyone who wants an uptempo, high energy, highly produced concert to watch. It is a MUST HAVE!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!! Dont know why you'd say no talent!
Britney Spears is really an awesome performer. She can definately dance, you have to admit that! She is also a good singer. Just cause you all wish you could sing like her doesn't mean you have to put her down. I know you're wishing you had all the money she makes. And if you think people only like her so they can see her so called "Half Naked" body, then why did I think 2 of her albums go like Platinum? Its not like each CD shows her performing! Millions of people buy her CD's because she has talent. And the reason why in concerts she sings ALONG with the recording is because if she sang while breaking out with her awesome choreography, you would hear her voice be shaky because she can't do both at once. However, even as she said in an interview, shes still up their singing her bottom off. So please, if for some reason you want to put down an awesome performer like her, just keep it to yourself. She is good. Anyways, about the DVD, I saw it on HBO and I went to her concert in Atlantic City ((which was identical to the LV one)) and it was awesome! She sings songs from her new ablum, along with songs from Oops!...I Did It Again and ...Baby One More Time! It's a must have! Thanks

5-0 out of 5 stars Eat Your Heart-Out Christina!!
I cannot say enough good things about Britney. She is so talented. She sings(f.y.i live) you can tell by the fact that Brit doesn't reach her pitch(s) in some of her songs. Plus. she stands still for alot of the concert as well. She even dances and still stays on key. Britney is great. Even if you don't like Britney at all, you still have to admit that the girl has talent.
Britney has a long career ahead of her and she is going for the long run. Britneyis hear to stay. Get over it already!

1-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Where is Diana?
The two-star review is not for Diana's performance. She deserves five stars for her magnificent performance. But this cheaply made video is just a quick cash-in. No doubt, this is a much loved video that has been highly anticipated for DVD release. Unfortunately, this DVD is not worth waiting for.

While it sounds great, the picture is horrible. On my TV (28 inches screen), the screen is blurry and cropped. You cannot see things in sharp contrast. I put it in my DVD-Rom and got a sharper image. But I would rather play this on TV.

This is a disappointing DVD. I hope HBO or Motown or whatever company produced this video contact the makers of the DVD since it is certainly not an official Diana Ross release. It's a cheap transfer from VHS to DVD.

Fans of Diana Ross and this concert video have been warned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential Diana Ross on DVD
There isn't that much Diana Ross Material on DVD. The pickins are slim but, with that in mind, you won't be disappointed. It seems to have been transfered from a VHS tape format. Not a problem with slight adjustments to your video monitor...a few color, contrast, and brightness adjustments and you are off to Las Vegas!!! from the comfort of your TV room, of course. I, like so many, have been a Diana Ross fan since the mid-sixties and although this performance doesn't include Mary, Flo, or Cindy; still it gives the essence of what we love about the BOSS!!! Miss Ross! Seeing any grown-woman, pop icon/actress, mother of five, strut to and frow across a huge Las Vegas stage singing: "I Ain't Been Licked", is worth the price of the DVD alone. Until such time as there is more "Digital-Diana," Treat yourself to this DVD. You won't be sorry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Diana Ross Central Park 1983 concert One for all
I seriously think that this Concert in 1983 perform by Diana Ross in Central Park was one of the best ever. We need to have this in DVD complete version. She was in her splendor and glamours outfits and gorgeous moments on her life. Make possible.............please

5-0 out of 5 stars Miss Ross Remains Supreme
This is an absolutly fantastic DVD I bought it off EBAY before it was available in the U.S. and I just love it. Since I was not alive in '79 it is great to see Miss Ross back in her prime. Although Miss Ross sounds great the DVD quality isn't as great and it is a Brazilian release. No liner notes or anything. Still a great concert.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor Video Quality
I have the original VHS tape and was eagerly anticipating the remastering to DVD. It is a major disappointment! The video quality doesn't compare with the VHS. ... Read more

George Carlin's first HBO special, taped in 1977, now looks like a fascinating piece of television history. Preceded by a cautionary statement about Carlin's penchant for using strong language (and a reminder that Chaucer and Shakespeare wrote bawdy material, too), On Location with George Carlin clearly draws a line between the then-fledgling cable channel and commercial networks. With that much drama in the background, one might expect Carlin's appearance before a young University of Southern California audience to sizzle with controversy, but that's hardly the case. A little tentative before the cameras (and hampered by a failing microphone that takes a while to replace), the comic leans on safe but genuinely funny conceptual material: "Did you ever clear your throat for another person?" "What if everybody came to your house?" There's a cute bit about playing Monopoly with no strategy for winning, and even a slice or two of good old head humor. (Try fasting for two days, Carlin advises, then smoke seven joints and take $500 to the grocery store.) An entertaining though modestly ambitious program, all around. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
This concert got so much attention because of the HBO telecast as well as his English album. It's well deserved.

I'm not a fan of his English music, but it worked well in this concert. Marc Anthony really jams with his salsa music, which he is primarily known for. He exudes so much energy into his performances that you really have the feeling that you're there.

I took off a star because of the time he spends in between songs. He pretty much talks nonsense and at one point praises Tito Puente and Ruben Blades way too much as well as Julia Roberts and her ex-beau. He's also a bit over dramatic. It's a little annoying. That's just a personal gripe. It's no reflection on his music or his amazing voice.

Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Latin Frank Sinatra!
Simply one of the most gifted singers of our modern era, Puerto Rican singer Marc Anthony has become the bonafide star he rightfully deserves to be. Every artist's dream is to play an arena as big and famous as New York City's Madison Square Garden, and just like a wish granted, this New York bred singer got his wish.

The former RMM recording star (now signed with Sony Discos) is amazing as he captivates his audience in this special that was televised live on HBO in 2000. Singing some of his classics in Spanish and new hits in English, Marc truly is a glowing presence on stage as his fans, both male and female, are energized and moved by his gift of song.

This DVD captures the intensity that Marc Anthony can only provide onstage. Whether you're a fan or an avid listener to salsa music and/or Spanish ballads, "Marc Anthony - The Concert from Madison Square Garden" is a must see. Gifted, blessed, and talented are the words I can use to describe this artist and this performance.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you're a romantic at heart, you must see this!
I caught this flipping channels and was knocked out by Marc's music, his passion, and his honesty. I don't speak but a few words of the language but the music and his expression told the story. Ever since I've become a big fan. Bravo!

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally MARC ON My SCREEN!!
Yeah it's finally come out on DVD! I remember watching it on HBO, which was a special treat. I'm glad that we have the opp to see him over and over again. marc puts 200% out when singing live. Too bad he cancelled his tour :(

Yeah who cares about Rosie O'Donnel and Julia Roberts. We see Tito Puente perform on stage!! Marc had to announce these people as a part of the HBO gig, I'm sure. The English songs don't anyway take over or lessen teh effect of his salsa classics performed.

If your a Marc fan, you won't be disappointed I promise! At a good price too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lo mejor que he escuchado!
... Read more

"My job is thinking about goofy sh--," declares George Carlin, the ever-reflective absurdist and star of George Carlin Again. The second in Carlin's long string of HBO specials since 1977, Again (1978) finds the once buttoned-down comic performing in the round and musing, as is his wont, on many vital issues of the day. What, for example, do restaurants do with the rest of a frog after cooking its legs? Who empties the coins out of wishing wells? To the delight of his Phoenix audience, Carlin also takes a detour into pop philosophy with a look at our relationship with time ("There is no 'now.' It could be the middle of last month for all we know.") and death ("Everybody gets a two-minute warning. Try to use yours to die big."). Oddly, a nostalgic reprise of the Hippie-Dippie Weatherman from Carlin's early career falls flat; the comedian senses it and segues into a more trenchant and daring bit about dirty words and American law. This is not a monologue for the faint of heart, but Carlin fanatics will be pleased. --Tom Keogh ... Read more
