3-0 out of 5 stars guerin sizzles
this film is by no means a classic, but if you would like to see the sexiest woman alive, then this is perfect for that purpose.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful woman...
It's a soft-porn movie, Florence Guerin has done her part. We expect more than that..... sigh.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dirty girls finally get zapped. ZBOP!
This movie was the feature attraction at a recent bad movie night with my friends, and with good cause. The premise is that a guy whips up this device that controls women's sexual urges at his very whim. That's it. Really. Little motivation is included in his playtime, but who really expects any? One remark I had was something about there not being enough plot to carry the film for a full 90 minutes, and I was right. Some thing to look out for: The underground lair where some strange sacrifice is taking place during which the box gets put to use; and the watercolor paintings reflecting some of the film's most powerful scenes (probably the highest-budget part).

3-0 out of 5 stars There are plenty of Movies worse than this one
Fantastic movie, It's about the trials and tribulations of a man growing up in the hard times in the south.... Oh come on.. it's a soft porn about sex. As soft porn goes it is ok, there is a resemblance of a plot... which is an improvment for a movie of this caliber... but when all is said and done the movie revolves around seeing women naked. If you are looking for a good movie to discuss at your next office party, see Shindlers List... If you want soft porn you could do worse than this movie. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Low-budget gorey fun with Bruce Campbell
Mindwarp is one weird little film. It sounds like it might be a precursor of sorts to The Matrix, but it really isn't. It's got the whole virtual reality world thing going for it, but the whole tenor of the film changes with the introduction of Bruce Campbell. Campbell is always worth watching, and he brings his usual few truckloads of slime and goo with him here. There's a lot of gore, but it's a little too nasty and gooey to be completely satisfying, plus the film is so dadburned dark most of the time that it's hard to see exactly what you're looking at. The whole cannibal subplot is a little disappointing, though, as no humans were actually eaten in the making of this movie. Midway through, the film seemed to be going nowhere, but it picked up steam at the end and threw a few plot twists in the mix to make things interesting.

Apparently, there was some kind of nuclear war, and now the survivors live their lives inside a place called Infinisynth, jacked in to a super virtual reality system that allows them to be and do whatever they want. You get kicked offline to take care of bodily needs and eat green gloop, but other than that it's a dream come true. Of course, there's always someone out there who doesn't like making all of her dreams come true in a realistic fashion; no, she wants something truly real. Well, she gets it, as the Sysop eventually kicks her out for mucking around with the system. Judy (Marta Alicia) finds herself on a barren world that is half-desert and half-glacier (those nukes really screw up the environment, don't they?). She quickly discovers some quicksand, and you almost want to see her die because she is just really annoying. Stover (Campbell) saves her from the zombie cannibals that pull her out of the sand, and the whole "only man and only woman on the face of the earth" things gets them all cozied up. The good times don't last long, though, as they are both then pulled down underneath the earth by the zombified "crawlers." These guys live underneath a landfill, so you can imagine just how disgusting a world this is. The plot gets pretty weird at this point, but you basically get a whole lot of gore from here on out - no actual cannibalism, but there is blood drinking. Lots of blunt instruments get swung around, meat hooks are put to good use, there's a great big saw for the most important sacrifices, and one kid's eyes get gouged out (even though we don't actually see the eyes removed, darn it). There's also a certain little critter that lays its eggs on a person's brain stem, and the journey to that destination ain't a pretty one - neither is the birth of the little darlings and their exit from the host.

The ending, or should I say endings, is what I would all predictably unpredictable, but it works. Mindwarp is a lot of fun to watch if you're not doing anything for an hour and a half. It's certainly not my favorite Bruce Campbell film, but it is a Bruce Campbell film - and usually that's enough to make a movie worth watching. Bruce got an extra bonus from the making of this film, as he met his wife, costume designer Ida Gearon, on the set.

3-0 out of 5 stars Bruce Campbell makes this work
it starts off with a women and a mother in this virtual reality thing and you can be anything. the daughter is bored and goes into her moms mind and ends up killing her. so the mindwarp creator puts the woman into the desolated wasteland called Earth and she has to survive and she meets a stranger who saves her life and brings her to her place, the stranger is Bruce Campbell(who is simply great), then they fall in love and are captured, they are brung to an underground world where Campbell is tortured and the villians put him into this cage in water, with these creatures that burrow into his skin(ehhhh). the escape is deadly. when they escape theres something wrong with Campbell and the girl starts to trip out and wakes up back into the mindwarp game and with her mother still alive. weird, lowbudget, nonthearetical release b horror movie sparks only because it has an interesting premise and of Campbell's wacky and good role. dont find logic in the villian's lair. the makeup and effects of the creators are way dumb.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining
Mind Warp is a very fun movie to watch, it stars Bruce Campbell(Evil Dead), and Angus Scrim(Phantasm). Mind Warp is a very unusual movie. It takes place in the future and all or most of mankind is living in a dream. Until one courageous women breaks free and discovers Bruce Campbell in the "Dead Lands" and then the two are caputured mutant cannibals, and brought to become slaves for Angus Scrim(the leader and father of the girl). Some parts in the movie are rather gross, but this movie is very entertaining.

4-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly entertaining.....
As a fan of low-budget sci-fi and horror, I've found that in most cases poor plot and poor acting can provide worthwhile entertainment if one keeps an open mind. I maintained this open mind when I popped Mindwarp into the VCR and was pleased with how entertaining and good this movie turned out to be. Set in post-apocalyptic times when most of humanity lives in a virtual-reality dream-state, it features a woman who desires a "real" life and, as a result, is outcast to a hostile wasteland. Bruce Campbell is excellent as the "hero" who rescues her from the elements and the wasteland inhabitants -- cannibals. Angus Scrimm (from the Phantasm films) is delightful as the demented underworld cannibal leader. It may sound strange (text on the back of the box gives little insight about the film), but the movie has a very good plot, good special effects and some surprises that easily place this movie in the "own" category.

5-0 out of 5 stars BRUCE CAMPBELL IS THE MAN
BRUCE CAMPBELL IS THE BEST ACTOR THAT HAS EVER LIVED! THIS MOVIE WAS A LITTLE CRAZY BUT HE IS AWESOME IN IT! IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE "THE MATRIX" TOOK IDEAS FROM THIS MOVIE...THOSE PUNKS WHAT DO THEY THINK THEY ARE DOING..ERRR ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Steve Barnett's Scanners: The Showdown
This sequel, also known as "Scanner Cop II," marks the end of the series...or does it?

The rookie cop Staziak is now a plain clothes detective (he must have had one good year). He uses his scanning capabilities to rout criminals and foil evildoers. We also meet an evil scanner (yes, another one) who has escaped from a mental ward and is trying to kill Staziak. It seems he can also suck the "lifeforce" out of other scanners. You see the finale coming as scanner cop and evil scanner do scanner battle.

In the beginning of the film, the scanner cop fools a kidnapper into thinking he is an accomplice, not the cop. He does this by "scanning." The problem is the director uses the exact same special effect from "Scanner Cop," but in a completely different context. Did FX guru John Carl Buechler get lazy this time around?

One complaint I have had about the entire series, and I have now seen all five entries, is that the Scanner power is never really explained. We see scanners command others to do their will, we see scanners getting scanned, but what specifically does "scanning" entail? Reading minds? This question has never been adequately explained, especially when you throw in the fact that machines can be scanned as well.

The good scanner vs. evil scanner plot has been done to death, yet it is still trotted out for this video. This came out a few years ago, without a sequel, but after witnessing the rebirth of movie series like James Bond, Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc., I am not holding my breath. In a complete pageant of unoriginality, every single episode of this film series has had an exploding head, but none of them ever matched the gore of the first film. This showdown is underwhelming, and I cannot recommend it.

This is rated (R) for strong physical violence, strong gun violence, mild sexual violence, strong gore, and profanity.

2-0 out of 5 stars A Sad Ending to an overall well done series
Scanners: The Showdown (Otherwise known as "Scanner Cop 2:Vlrokins Revenge and "Scanners 5: The Showdown") is a sadimpression of a movie. I'm not sure, but I think that this was made for Canadian Cable TV. While there are some good special effects, the story is almost an exact copy of every Scanners film made. The performances are dull, dreary, and unoriginal. If yo're interested in special effects, or are a fan of the series, see this film. All others, stay away. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars softest-soft-core if that's possible
the only thing that i liked about this film is the scene between the two women from the middle east behind the curtain that the Sheik ripped apart. a good 20-25 seconds of pure lesbian lust...before the camera pans back to the Sheik again! i have the tape at that spot at all times and i watch and re-watch it over and over...other than that i'm appalled at how mainstream the film tries to be. for me, part of the Emmanuelle success was showcasing a woman with a sexual appetite no matter who it was from: man or woman. yet, with the Emmanuelles that followed in Kristel's footsteps, somewhere along the way the series became nothing but a sophomoric, naughty movie one might expect to find late at night on the USA Network back in the early '90s with Gilbert Gotfreid with zero titilation and sexual overtones...but heavy on bikini clad bimbos. Laura Gemser has been the ONLY other woman to successfully play this role...and her films are MORE explicit than Kristel's. Emmanuelle 5 came along in 1987 as just another skin flick...showing hardly any skin except the scene i watch over and over. the mood for me is always interrupted by the so-called 'hero' of the film who's trying to break Emmanuelle out of the Sheik's harem! if it were me, i'd re-record the lesbian scene on a blank tape and throw Emmanuelle 5 out the window.

3-0 out of 5 stars Those Were the Days...
Hey, there. Remember those days of hormone-ridden adolescence when you snuck into the TV room in the middle of the night while the 'rents were asleep, and switched the cable box on to your fave premium channel in the hopes of seein' a few nudies and (hopefully) some other less-than-pure visuals? You probably had your special video tape ready to record those precious moments for future reference too, didn't ya? Boy, those were some fun times, weren't they? I know they were for me...

Emmanuelle 5 © was a particularly memorable naughty flick for me. The star, Monique Gabrielle, shows just about all she can-- in skin, that is, not acting ability-- as she cavorts through parts of mainland Europe and the Middle East in this little flesh-fest, and having her way with a few nerdy-yet-hunky guys (I've got the 'nerdy' part down, myself). Hey, you didn't think people watched this stuff for the Oscar-worthy performances, did'ja? Let's face it, the reason this baby was made is pretty plain: to grab the attention of the socially-inept heterosexual male demographic! Yep, it's all about the marketing, which I fell for just like that! I feel so dirty now...

Oh yeah, there's some silly excuse of a plot about a Middle Eastern Sheik who tries to make Emanuelle a prized addition to his harem, but that's neither here nor there...

5-0 out of 5 stars Emanuelle the best of its kind
I can not say enough great things about this film. It's the best that I have ever seen in the movie theater or on VHS. Its got something for everyone, a great plot and believable characters. There is only one word of warning that I must say about this film, if you mind a bit of skin in your movies or are showing the film to your kids I would skip this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars not enough sex- and I am a woman!
The Emanualle series is unique in that it is sensual and sexual. It reaches the ladies in the audience WITHOUT being offensive!

This one seemed far too concerned with the safe sex concerns of the actors. It was Emanuelle- almost- reimbraces- secondary viginity.

Of the ones I have seen in this series, this one is the worst. I suggest you try Emanuelle 1 or 2! Enjoy!!

4-0 out of 5 stars sensual masterpiece
the exotic locales and beautiful women accent the storyline. particularly impressive is the use of camera angles. for an erotic movie that actually has a plot, be sure to check this one out. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another excellent Wincott flick
Jeff Wincott does an excellent protrayal of a cop trying to do the right thing and getting pushed around by the system. He takes matters into his own hands trying to uncover the vicious doings of a politically corrupt Brigette Nielsen. The action is intense and the storyline excellent. I would rent this again, as I would with most Wincott movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars this movie rocks!!!!
it's a must-see action packed martial-arts thrill ride!. Jeff wincott does battle with city scum, along with the help of the peacemakers, and his female partner played by karen sheperd(who also kicks some serious butt)!. Brigitte Nielson plays a corrupted politician who will stop at nothing to be elected mayor. you have to check out the scene where jeff wincott must pass through "the Gauntlet". it's some of the best martial arts i've seen in a long time!:-) ...
