5-0 out of 5 stars "Get Happy With The Partridges"
In these six fun-filled episodes of "The Partridge Family",you'll find music and fun! In "What? And Get Out Of Showbusiness",you'll see how the Partridges got their start into the music business. In "Old Scrapmouth",Laurie gets braces and doesnt want to open her mouth. Mark Hamill guest stars in this episode. In "Anchors Aweigh!",Shirley meets her high school sweetheart "Captain Cuddles" Corwin. This was the 96th,and last episode for the Partridges. In "A Knight In Shining Armor",teen idol Bobby Sherman drops by on the Partridges. This spawned the series "Getting Together". In "But The Memory Lingers On", The Partridges get sprayed by a skunk who stoiws away on their bus. And in "The Eleven Year Old Itch",Jodie Foster has a crush on Danny, but things turn ugly.

In both videos, you'll hear the first 2 theme songs: "When We're Singin'",and "Come On,Get Happy",althogh in the pilot episode, it's "Together".

5-0 out of 5 stars At Last! A little bit of good old fashioned tv fun on tape.
I was VERY young when my sister was watching these episodes, first run, on television, and for reasons unknown to me, they had stuck with me.

Watching these six episodes again, as an adult, reminded me of how fun, and easy it was in the past to watch and enjoy television!

Granted, the first episode in the series is a little stiff, and does not have the cohesive quality the "family" has in later episodes, but it is truly a must have for true Partridge Family collectors, and casual viewers alike. If you haven't already fallen for the possibility that the perfect mom exists, you will find it in Shirley Partridge.

This two video pack includes the problems with Laurie's braces (guest star-to-be, Mark Hamill), the problems with "Mom" on a date with a Navy officer, the problem with a musically talented intruder (Bobby Sherman), the problem with a skunk on the bus (the episode that spawned the hit, "I Think I Love You"), and finally the problem with an 11 year old girl (a very tom-boyish Jodie Foster), and her crush on Danny. Whew! A lot of problems, and only in six episodes! But, man, what fun those problems are, and what great music that is woven in between them all.

Warning: if you are looking for a chronological set of released episodes, THIS IS NOT IT. It is but a teasing sample, of the fun, warmth, humour, music, and family trials and triumphs that this show shared with us. A gem of a find, especially for us dyed-in-the-wool Partridge Family Fans.

If this is your first visit with the Partridge Family, take a chance...."Let the Sunshine In," and "C'mon Get Happy" with the Partridges (the two songs on the Pilot episode.)

For the rest of us, sit back, and remember the fun. (Oh, and trying to watch this "presented in CBS color" show on a black and white 14 inch TV, with a 2 inch mono speaker. Ah, those were the days...) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars More Laughs Than You Can Shake Barney's Single Bullet At!
This VHS videotape (produced by "UAV Home Video") comes packaged under the official title of "The Best Of The Andy Griffith Show: The First 3 Episodes". And I'd say it's a bit of a collector's item, mainly because of the episode selection on the tape. These three episodes from "The Andy Griffith Show" are not normally included in the many, many "public domain" video and DVD releases of this TV series. Most of the "PD" episodes from this series are from the third season of the show (1962-1963). While this tape contains all "first season" programs (the very first three shows of the series).

Unfortunately, this tape runs in "EP" (or "SLP") mode, meaning the quality is not quite as good as if it had been recorded in the Standard ("SP") mode. Well, let me qualify that last sentence: I should have said MY COPY of this tape is recorded in "EP"/"SLP" mode. It's possible, I suppose, that UAV released some tapes in a "Standard Play" format. I'm not really sure. In any event, it's still nice to be able to collect these debut "T.A.G.S." shows on pre-recorded tapes (and in FULL, UNCUT versions).

This tape also includes the ORIGINAL show opening ("whistling") theme music, unlike many other public-domain video releases of this series. Plus, the complete "epilogue" scenes, which are often cut out of syndicated prints, are also intact here. The shows run approx. 25 minutes each. Sound is the original Mono (in "Hi-Fi").

You'll laugh just as hard as ever when you watch the three outstanding "T.A.G.S." offerings contained on this tape. The shows included in this "Special Release" from UAV are listed below, with original CBS-TV air dates. ................

1.) "The New Housekeeper" (First aired on 10/03/1960) -- Opie (Ronny Howard) steals every scene in this premiere "Andy" episode. Aunt Bee replaces "Rose" as the Taylor's new live-in housekeeper, and it's not making little Opie very happy. That is, until Opie realizes that Aunt Bee "doesn't know how to do anything!" (LOL!), and therefore he must teach her how to do the finer things in life -- like playing baseball and catching frogs. A wonderful beginning to this endearing TV series -- a series that spanned eight seasons and 249 episodes! Pioneering sitcom magnate Sheldon Leonard directed this first "Andy" program.

2.) "The Manhunt" (First aired on 10/10/1960) -- Deputy Barney Fife (played to an absolute tee by Don Knotts) steals the show this time. "Barn" has "big" news for Andy -- an escaped criminal is headed toward Mayberry! And the 2-man police force of this sleepy North Carolina town is gonna be ready for him! Unfortunately, the State Police officials have different ideas, and shun Mayberry's top-notch squad of crime-fighters. In the end, though, Andy has a couple tricks up his sleeve that make even the doubtful State officers sit up and take appreciative notice! It's another great episode, with many laugh-out-loud moments -- such as when Andy becomes amazed by something as simple as a State Police map that comes complete with those "dandy little buttons that just stick there and don't fall off!" LOL!

3.) "Guitar Player" (First aired on 10/17/1960) -- James Best guest stars as "Jim Lindsey" (a role he would later reprise in the series), a talented guitarist who's going nowhere in Mayberry (except to jail on occasion, when Andy arrests him for playing on the city streets). But, thanks to Andy's sneaky "handywork", Jim is able to better himself and secure a position with "Bobby Fleet And His Band With A Beat". The jazzy musical number near the end of the show is REALLY, really good! Worth a replay every time I pop in this video cassette.

--------------------------------

It was a fun-filled beginning to "The Andy Griffith Show", with these three programs paving the way for still more (many more!) outstanding entries in this classic sitcom series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Dick Van Dyke Show is Best classic TV Show Of All Time!
Two great episodes from the best classic TV show of all time! Both episodes are hilarious, I can't decide which one I like best, I guess I like them both equally! Hustling The Hustler which has Buddy's pool shark brother tricking Rob into playing against him is very funny and Phil Leeds is great as Buddy's brother, also in this episode Buddy learns that not every thing is what it seems and not to assume too much! The other episode about Rob finding Laura's secret bank book is very funny and is another episode filled with misunderstandings and what happens when someone makes assumptions and jumps to the wrong conclusion!

5-0 out of 5 stars Buddy's pool hustling brother and Laura's secret bank book
Two episodes from the second season of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" are offered up on this videotape. "Hustling the Hustler" (Episode #35, October 24, 1962), written by the show's creator Carl Reiner and directed by John Rich, finds Buddy worries that his incorrigible brother (Phil Leeds) is going to take Rob for everything he has in a friendly little game of pool. Then in "Bank Book 6565696" (Episode #34, October 17, 1962), Rob's imagination goes absolutely wild when he discovers a healthy balance is in Laura's secret bank account. Of course, he never gets close to the truth in this episode written by Ray Allen Saffian and Harvey Bullock, also directed by Rich. These are not exactly classic episodes from this great sitcom, but they are still pretty good. The television commercials are a nice touch, although I can provide no additional insights into whether they were actually aired for these episodes or not.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Surprise In The Waiting!
I will admit that at first I was expecting another cheaply made public domain video. But instead what I found was actually an enjoyable little tape! The commercials are cut into the show (and are not the originals as the DVD Show was sponsored by Kent Cigarettes, not Camels) but the true value is the show itself. The two episodes, "Hustling a Hustler" and "Bank Book 6565696," are some-what classics of the series. (Especially "Bank Book," though it isn't as popular as an episode like "Coast To Coast Big Mouth" or the ever-popular "That's My Boy?!?") The prints of the two shows are not the standard "public domain" versions that you fine, and are actually very nice clean prints. Overall, if you're looking for just a nice, comfortable laugh at a reasonable price, this is a good tape for you to check out.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic to own
This is a super buy on this video. Two great episodes PLUS vintage commercials. This is a must for anybody who loves classic television. The first episode is entitled "Hustling the hustler" aired 10/24/62. Buddy's brother, (a pool shark) is in town and gets Rob into a game of pool and Rob doesn't know he's a shark until they bet real money, the results are a true classic. Next is called "Bank Book 6565696", aired 10/17/62 Rob finds Laura's bank book (by accident of course), showing she has money he knows nothing about and with the help of Jerry, Sally, and Buddy poor Rob doesn't know what to think of Laura's hidden loot. Everything he does think turns out to be wrong. Don't let this video go by. Get it and enjoy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My Tree
This movie has a lot of good performances, especially by the actors. I have to admit that this movie has special meaning for me, however, because of Rodney Dangerfield. In my front yard I have a tree that looks EXACTLY like Rodney Dangerfield, I mean EXACTLY. Just the other day a motorist driving by yelled "Hey, your tree looks like Rodney Dangerfield!" I'm hoping to put up a website with a picture of this tree soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Also, be warned: this DVD is in the overrated widescreen format. I was one of the very few supporters of the tallscreen format that enjoyed a mild popularity in mid-late April 1996 (only 3 films were shot in this unusual aspect ratio-"The Tall Guy," "Tall Marge," and "Big & Tall"). Needless to say, on my Tall-Screen Television set (60 inches high by 5 inches wide), I have to put up with enormous black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

Nonetheless, this movie tells a great story. I would recommend ordering this item from Amazon (at least for us fat cats who own mailboxes).

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Rodney film EVER!!!!
I think the title says it all here, I could be the biggest fan of Rodney there is and I couldnt stomach this film. Gouge your eyes out before you watch it!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Shtick Sticks!
This movie only works 'cause it's Rodney Dangerfield. He has some bizzarely hilarious on screen presence that really gets me. His movie aren't classics, but they're really good for some belly laughs. I wish we could give half marks, because Wally deserves that EXTRA half of a star for it sex filled toilet humor that works every time. I wouldn't suggest buying it, for how many times can you watch Wally getting his nuts bitten by a squirl (don't answer that!)? But if your in the mood for crude mindless hilarity, Wally truely does 'spark', but sorry, no fireworks here.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cold Shower Egypt!
Hey last night I met a girl she was so wild! How wild was she! She was so wild I gave her a virgin wool sweater...her body rejected it! This and many other comical pieces in MEET WALLY SPARKS make it a well-rounded film. Cameos by such famous people as Ron Jeremy and Tony Danza (playing a Taxi driver) make this film a must-see.

A line in the scene with Tony when Wally gets in his cab: Tony: Hey wait till I tell the boys I had you in my cab! Wally: Hey Tony first of all you never had me, and if you did have me it wouldn't be in a cab. Tony: Oh it kills me it kills me

5-0 out of 5 stars I still collapse on the floor from laughter every time!
The first time I watched this movie I was rolling on the ground clutching my stomach cause I was laughing so hard. It is rich with raunchy humor and is one of Rodneys best films to date. The best scene stealer involves a statues broken penis, which Rodney picks up and puts in his pocket, creating all kinds of mayhem. This is one of the absolutely most hillarious movies Ive seen. Also try Dirsty Work with Norm MacDonald. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Two second season episodes of "The Dick Van Dyke Show"
A pair of second season episodes from "The Dick Van Dyke Show" are featured on this video tape. Episode #39, "The Night the Roof Fell In" (Written by John Whedon, Aired November 21, 1962) is another one of those television sitcom homages to Akira Kurosawa's film "Rashomon." Rob (Dick Van Dyke) and Laura (Mary Tyler Moore) each have quite different versions of the fight that sent Rob storming out of the house to sleep in the garage. The fun comes as each retells what happens to their friends: Laura sees herself as the perfect Suzy Homemaker who has to deal with Rob, the grumbling meanie, while Rob sees himself as a charming, dancing husband who is the one who has to put up with the grumbling spouse. Do not worry, because everything ends up okay in the end of this classic sitcom episode, which gives the two stars a chance to play off their characters (it reminds me of an outtake Van Dyke and Moore did once where he cried instead of her).

Then we have Episode #31, "Never Name a Duck" (Written by Carl Reiner, Aired September 26, 1962) in which Rob brings home two baby ducks. Laura has reservations about the whole thing but the ducks become beloved family pets. But then one of the ducks dies, and Richie (Larry Mathews) worries why the other one gets sicker and sicker. This is a rare episode in which father and son share a nice little heart-to-heart talk about life and death. There are not a lot of serious episodes from this classic television sitcom, but this would certainly be one of them. It is strange to find both of these episodes on the same tape, but these are both very good episodes, and the first is a bone fide classic "Dick Van Dyke" episode. ... Read more
