You'll look back with Wonder too!
You can't help but interject yourself Kevin's life. He is so relatable. Also with the narration it makes us think of our own glory days of youth and the important people in our lives. The first kiss. First experience with someone dying. The intrigue of sex ed. Our best friend and knowing everything about that person. Nagging brother or sister. Fighting parents who loved each other and us. The popular music that defined the era we grew up in. I'm sure there are special songs that conjure up powerful images from your past just as the special songs from the Wonder Years does the same for each episode.

With the narration of the young Kevin and the 60s setting it reminds me of the movie Christmas Story. The Messy Marvin actor and the narration of his thoughts/dreams of the Red Ryder bb gun. Another classic! But I digres . . .

You have to see this first volume of Wonder Years! It will tug at your heart strings again! You won't be disappointed!

Kevin, Paul and Winnie start Junior High in the Fall of 1968
Kevin Arnold, Homer Simpson and I all graduated from high school in the same year. But when we first meet Kevin, Paul and Winnie as they are heading for their first day of school at the newly renamed Robert F. Kennedy Junior High School in the Fall of 1968. "The Original Pilot" (January 31, 1988) aired after the Super Bowl that year, guaranteeing itself a big audience. What they saw was Kevin (Fred Savage) having a hard time at school. His best friend Paul (Josh Saviano) is no help, his older brother Wayne (Jason Hervey) is out to get him, and Winnie Cooper (Danica McKellar), the tomboy down the street is now wearing go-go boots and inducing major hormonal problems. So Kevin immediately finds himself in trouble with the assistant principal, forcing his mom (Alley Mills) and dad (Dan Lauria) to come down and pick him up. However, when they drag Kevin home to be punished, his sister Karen (Olivia D'Abo) has some horrible news that makes everything moot. The ending of this first-rate pilot episode is a most bittersweet moment between Kevin and Winnie. Things are back to as normal as like got for young teenagers in the late Sixties in "Swinger" (March 29, 1988), where Kevin and Paul's Phys. Ed. teacher has started teaching Sex Education. Do you remember "Our Body, Ourselves"? Both of these episodes were written by Neal Marlens & Carol Black. Interesting footnote: The pilot episode was directed by Steve Miner, who got his start doing a couple of "Friday the 13th" films. In a lot of ways I think "The Wonder Years" was the "Leave It To Beaver" of its day, even if it was set twenty years in the past (when it first aired), with the key difference being Winnie. Beaver never had a girl friend like Winnie and it is their relationship, which goes from puppy love to teenage infatuation to something more lasting, is at the heart of "The Wonder Years." Also, before there was "Forrest Gump" it was this television show that made use of the music that was the soundtrack for our lives.

i enjoyed it thought it was sad though
this program brought back alot of menmories for my hubby ,and me we too grew up in the sixties and seventies would like to see more programs like that instead of these other court shows too many serious on them

Only for the die-hard fan
As a devoted fan of the Wonder Years, I must say that I was disappointed in this video collection. Not only is the quality poor (fading in and out, scratchiness, etc.) but there are only two episodes per video (on this one and on vol. 1). I appreciate the early episodes, but they definitely made a mistake by passing up some of the gems of the later seasons ("The Lake"/cara episode, "Goodbye", anything with Becky Slater...and of course, the 2-part series finale). Unless you're desperate and this is truly your only option, I would recommend holding out until something better comes along.

My review
The episodes on this video both really make you think. Not only are they both amusing, they also capture your heart. "My Father's Office" is a father-son episode, in which Kevin goes to work with his father and uncovers a few mysteries of the life of his father. He learns a few reasons why his father is the way he is. "Angel" is a funnier episode than the first, but it still manages to have a moral at the end and make you think. In it Karen, Kevin's older sister, has a new boyfriend, that Kevin discovers is cheating on her and Kevin tries to find ways to get rid of him. So if you're a Wonder Years fan, I reccommend you add this great video to your collection!

A fabulous trip down memory lane!
The Wonder Years is a show about innocence in a time not so innocent. The naration parallel to the beautiful script and hilarious acting, make the trip down memory lane a lot easier to swallow. Which, I assume, is it's initiative. As for these two episodes, the first is a must see. For those who had a father figure, this is a must see. It may make you want to reconsider the relationship with your son, or daughter. The other episode is another classic in a very classy t.v. show that will hopefully teach you as much as it has taught me about myself and my past. ... Read more

The two classic Brady Bunch Marcia, Marcia, Marcia episodes
We are not talking lofty standards here when we recognize the fact that this particular set of episodes from "The Brady Bunch" contains two of the show's signature episodes from the perspective of American pop culture. The common denominator here is the oldest female Brady, Marcia (Maureen McCormick), in what are clearly her two most famous misadventures. "Getting Davy Jones" (Episode #61, December 10, 1971) has Marcia promising to get teenage hearthrob Davy Jones of the Monkees to sing at her school prom. Unfortunately, this appearance is news to Davy. Good thing this is a television comedy otherwise this would end badly for Marcia. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia gets her comeuppance in "The Subject Was Noses" (Episode #90, February 9, 1973), when she gets hit in the nose with a football. The nose swells up like a balloon and because of the disfigurement Marcia's boyfriend Doug Simpson (Nicholas Hammond) ditches her. Obviously no great loss, but it sure bothers little miss vanity. For fan's of neglected sister Jan this has to be the most popular episode of "The Brady Bunch" ever. You do not have to like these episodes let alone "The Brady Bunch," but you do have to at least know about them as touchstones of pop culture. P.S. Pay attention to the guest stars besides Davy Jones on these episodes and their importance in television history. The first one has Marcia Wallace, who went on to success on "The Bob Newhart Show" as receptionist Carol Kester and who know provides the voice for Bart's teacher Edna Krabappel on "The Simpsons." Nicholas Hammond from the other episode ended up as television's "Spider-Man" after being one of the Von Trapp children in "The Sound of Music."

Girl, look what you've done to me ....
Classic Brady! Do you know any girl who, not only got a rock star to play at her prom, but got a date out of him? Only Marcia could pull this off! I remember when it originally aired in the 70's and had dreams of meeting the infamous Monkee (OK, I was 6 years old and hadn't discovered "Tiger Beat" yet). The clothes and hairdews alone make the episode (check out Davey's dorky mananger and Marcia's groovy poncho). On a footnote: did actually meet Davey 15 years later during a Monkees Reunion, a disappointment. Better on tape, than in person.

Of course it's stupid fantasy...
and this video is worth the money just to hear the black girl in the Davy Jones episode ask Marcia (referring to Davy) -- all excited and bubbly -- "is he as neat as he looks?" Yeah, right. I like the end of the episode when Marcia and Davy stand side by side, and you can get an idea of just how short Davy is - he is shorter than Maureen McCormick. The "oh my nose" episode is pure fantasy -- and as for Marcia episode it's right up there with the Romeo and Juliet and braces episode --the family that paints together? Marcia's swollen nose disappears overnight? The Big Man on Campus asks Marcia out? She ultimately chooses Charlie the awkward delivery boy? And in the former episode, Marcia enters Davy's recording studio -- while he's recording no less -- without any problems? If you ask these questions then you definitely won't enjoy it. If you don't care about reality...then this is the best! Crank up "Girl" and drive your neighbors nuts!

A Great Show For Its Pure and Utter Stupidity
The Brady Bunch is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's ridiculously cheesey and stupid and unrealistic, but it's a great show to watch and make fun of. Plus it's a good show to help cheer you up, or to watch when you're sick.

Still, it's pretty stupid. I mean (everyone knows this already) the Brady family is SO perfect, what with the dad always giving horrible speeches everytime the kids say something mean to each other (they don't much, though), but most of the time he just does the ridiculous speeches for no reason. The kids are terriblly happy all the time, and the situations they always get themselves into are just plain dumb!

Carol Brady (Florence Henderson) is only there to say stuff like "Oh, Mike," or "Your father's right." The kids are all very one dimensional yet fun to watch. Alice does nothing but say dumb jokes however I respect Ann B. Davis as an actress (not that she is one anymore).

Of course everyone also know that the late Michael Reed dispised this show, and he had good reason, especially with the way his character acts. Everyone seems to regret starring on this show! Serious. Just watch the E True Hollywood Story on The Brady Bunch, and see. Susan Olsen (Cindy) sais she's been stereotyped ever since. Barry Williams (Greg) claims it's now very hard to get a job, and Florence Henderson sais the show was to unrealistic, and so on.

Still, you gotta love the show. How can't you? The people that hate this show have no heart. I'm mean, it's a horrible show, but it's a wonderful show! Sound strange? Sorry, but come on, even you people who bash it here really love it, and you know it. Why? Because it's really entertaining, and some episodes are actually GOOD (the Hawaii episode early in the show).

Don't buy these DVDs, the show is on all the time. But do buy the Brady movies, they're hilarious!

David would feel terrible that he hurt your feelings. I've gotten to know him in the last few years, and he is sweet, charming, kind and considerate. Whatever happened at the concert you attended, he had his reasons for his behavior. He's not perfect - but then neither are ANY of us!! Please don't defile his character. Classic Episode
For starters, "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" is a classic, and this is THE episode that fans always remember. The magic of this episode is that it's so un-Mary. Dear, sweet, genuine Mary wouldn't be the person you'd expect to behave this way. The episode isn't really about death so much as it is about an embarassing moment, which we've all been through. When Mary Richards cries, you can't help but feel for her!

Finally, I saw it.
Well I had been hearing about this episode for years. I was pretty young with this show was out so never really saw the series.

In this show, a TV clown, who is grandmarshal of a parade shows up dressed like one of his characters. "A Giant Peanut" a rogue elefant unfortunatly breaks loose and the clown is killed when the elefant successfully tries to shell him. EVerybody in MArys office is at first shocked but then cannot help but laugh at the incident. MAry is shocked at their insensitivity. However when Mary attends the clowns funeral.........
Taking into consideration that this show is nearly 30 years old I really enjoyed it. Some of the set-ups were a bit obvious now because they are typical sit-com set ups but remember that when this show first aired they were not, in fact this is one of the shows that created the road down with many of todays sitcoms go.
So for a dose of nostalga, or even if you never saw the show in it's heydey you need to get at least THIS episode.

Considered by many to be the funniest sitcom episode ever
"Chuckles Bites the Dust" (Episode #127, October 25, 1975), remains the best episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and is one of the classic situation comedy episodes of all time. Unless you have been living on another planet you know that Chuckles the Clown is killed when he is dressed as a Peanut and a rouge elephant attacks him. Mary is aghast at the gallows humor that compels the guys in the newsroom to keep making bad jokes. But then at the funeral it is Mary who has an attack of the giggles. Stop and think about it: on how many episodes of MTM does MARY get the big laughs? This is the proverbial exception that proves the rule, big time. Both writer David Lloyd and director Joan Darling earned Emmys Awards for this episode. For that matter, Mary Tyler Moore won for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and the show won for Outstanding Comedy Series, probably on the strength of this legendary episode.

Total Classic
"Dear sweet Mary"... of everyone in the WJM newsroom,(and for those of you who know and love her like i do) she is the most loving, caring, genuine person there is - so when she finds the humor in Chuckles' death at his funeral it is hilarious! you would expect this from any one else, NEVER Mary. But the total humor in it is when the Priest praises her for laughing "that's what Chuckles would have wanted"... then she begins to sob like crazy- total classic! 1 more thing: in Lou's office, for those of you who don't know, the pix of him on the wall in his football uniform is really him! What a hottie, eh? :)

One of the (hee hee) all-time classic (heh heh) episodes
This is an episode about (hee hee) a horrible tragedy. Chuckles the Clown is in a parade, dressed as a (titter) peanut. And then something dreadful (hah hah) happens. A rogue elephant (snort) tries to shell him.

The people of the newsroom try to deal with the death in predicted ways. (heh heh) Lou and Murray can't help laughing; Ted is (snicker) bewildered; and Mary is simply horrified.

Then, the funeral comes, and the famous line "A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants." And Mary ... just ... can't ... help herself.

What makes this episode so memorable? Because we all know what that's like. We've all had a hard time controlling laughter during serious and/or embarrassing situations.

One warning: Your memories of the funeral scene with (heh heh) sneak up at the most inopportune (chuckle) times.

without a doubt the funniest series of all time
Chris Elliott is a comedic genius. The humor in "Get a Life" defies explanation. While the episodes on this tape are definitely hilarious, unfortunately, in my opinion, Rhino could have chosen better episodes for its first (and hopefully not only) set to be released. I would have loved to see Meat Locker 2000 included. It also would have seemed a logical choice to included the Hell Loop 2000 episode on the first tape (since it was the first episode - and one of the funniest).

The best show on earth, finally comes to video.
I remember watching this show when I was 10 years old, and I have never forgotten it. I have about 24 of these episodes on tape, but didn't have "Spewey and Me" or "Girlfriend 2000," so these tapes go great with my collection. I do, however, wish that they would have added more than 2 episodes per tape. I also would like to see "Zoo Animals on Wheels" and "Chris's Brain." (The one where Chris learns to spell because of Toxic Waste.) These are 2 awesome episodes, that I do not have, and would love to see a great quality copy of either of these 2 episodes. Hopefully these 2 volumes will sell well, and encourage Rhino to release more tapes. They should read these reviews to get an idea as to what to put on the next volumes. Anyways, I'm just glad I got to see "Spewey and Me" again.

Whoever's Listening. We want more Get a Life on video!
I have Volumes 1 and 2, and have ordered the latest release of this silly 90s TV show, but I must have more. Come on producers, stop teasing us. Let's get "Houseboy 2000" and some other episodes on video or DVD. There's a cult following out there who is hungry to see Chris bumble his way through life.

The funniest show you'll ever see. Where in the world are the rest of the episodes? Like the one where Chris learns to spell from consuming toxic waste and the one where they go camping and eat some berries that make them see strange things. This tape is a must for all comedy fans!!!!!!!!!!

Whenever a new network gets a start, some weird things make it onto the air. That's the only possible explanation for Get a Life, Chris Elliott's short-lived series in which he starred as a thirtysomething paperboy, Chris Peterson, who still lived at home with his folks. (His dad, strangely enough, was played by Chris's real-life father, Bob Elliott, a respected comedian in his own right.)

The two episodes on Volume 1 exemplify what Get a Life was all about: a straight-faced spoof of sitcom conventions that managed to avoid all of the conventions that spoofs usually observe. That it wasn't laugh-out-loud funny is beside the point; Elliott's fans know that his brand of humor is often diametrically opposed to conventional humor.

Though the plots are fairly conventional--in "The Prettiest Week of My Life," Peterson enrolls in the Handsome Boy Modeling School, where he competes with another student, Sapphire; "Bored Straight" finds Peterson trying to rehabilitate a gang of teens--the shows themselves are anything but. --Randy Silver ... My all-time favorite show!!
I was thrilled to see that "Get A Life" was available on video. It was without a doubt the funniest television series I've ever seen. The 2 episodes on Volume 1 are classics. I feel they are a good representation of what the show had to offer. The scene when Chris poses "shirtless" in "The Prettiest Week of My Life" and the scene when Chris tries to counsel the teens in "Bored Straight" are hilarious! People who watch this series and come away saying it's stupid amuse me. You either get it, or you don't. I look forward to more volumes being released. My favorite episode was "Zoo Animals on Wheels."

Get A Life: The Anti-Sitcom
Quite simply, Get a Life was is anti-sitcom in which all other sitcoms pale in comparison. I sold my blood so I could purchase both volumes of this great series (even though I had many episodes on tape). It was worth every drop. Volume One is good in that it starts with two shows of the first season. However, I tend to like the episodes in which Chris dies at the end (an aspect of the show that was later ripped off by the uninspired and pointless "South Park" -- I will watch Chirs get squashed by a boulder or blow up any time). Nevertheless, Volume One is a must for the Get a Life fan and anyone who is sick and tired of the cookie-cutter network comedies. Volume 2 is even better. My only disappointment is that there is no word on when Rhino is releasing Volume 3, 4, 5, etc. Wallet-Boy forever

One of the greatest shows ever
There were two shows on television during the early-mid 1990s whose comedic genius was too far ahead of the times and they were (consequently) canceled. Get a Life was one of them; the other, a show which aired on Mtv, The State.

I'm glad that at least a few episodes of Get a Life have made it out to DVD. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for DVD editions of more Get a Life, The State, and... Cabin Boy.

i made sure 2 tape every single episode as it aired, cuz. .
. . .from the minute i first heard about this "sitcom", i just knew it wasn't gonna stick around long, much less acheive "friends"-style immortality via ad-nauseum syndication :/ in my experience, most people, particularly women, just take an Instant visceral dislike to chrissyboy, much to their everlasting loss. he's the anti-tom cruise; every project he touches (tattinger's, daddy's boy, cabin boy, teen beat articles, cinemax specials, snl and getalife) turns to despised, financial turds. damn shame, cuz with the exception of getalife's premiere episode (thankfully not among the few selected for inclusion on these rhino releases; it was likely an intentionally-watered-down pilot to lull fox execs into green-lighting this programming aberration), elliott's utterly unique, downright Poetic (he has Such a way with words) flavor of clueless idiocy is maintained with remarkable potency throughout its too-short run. these two eps are no exception: among their other acheivements they puncture, a la an assassin's scopelock, diana ross And to-sir-with-love styles of oozy sentiment (both particularly strong banes to my sensibilities) without hardly even trying -those are just colLATERAL damages! :)

The Wonder Years is the best T.V. show ever created!
Wow! This tape would make an excellent gift for all Wonder Years fans! In the first episode, sweet 12-year-old Kevin Arnold is trying to find a present for his girlfriend Winnie and at the same time, the whole Arnold household is hoping Jack, the father will buy them a color t.v. for Christmas. In the end, Kevin learns that Christmas is more than presents and is about the memories and special moments in life. In the second episode, Kevin is older (sixteen-years-old) and is trying to find the perfect present for Winnie again. After the family, suffers a financial blow because Jack's partner decides to not invest in the furniture company, the holiday spirit is again being tested. I enjoyed the tapes so much and I watch them over and over. Definately a good tape.

Poor Tape Quality
The story was excellent, but the tape quality was awful. It looked like somebody taped it at home off their VCR. I was beginning to think it was bootlegged.

The Most Touching and Heartwarming Show I have ever seen
When I first saw an episode of the Wonder Years, I didn't connect with it much. I thought it was a show for kids, one that didn't have much bearing on me. As I watched it more, especially on Nick at Nite when there was nothing else on, I began to realize that this show was unique. Not only did it appeal to younger audiences with its light-hearted humor, but that it even appealed to middle to late teenagers like me, with its displays of Kevin's relationships, his feelings, and his growth as a person. This show deals with practically every difficulty that adolescents must face, from strange parents to changing friends. It is rare that a show has actually been able to reach out and touch my heart, but it seems that this show is able to do it whenever I watch it. My only wish was that they had the entire series available, so that I could watch it from start to finish.

Best Show!
This is the Best Show to ever come out in the Wonder Years collection.I really liked it and I couldn't stop watching it.It's the best show on Nickelodeon,in my opinion.I loved the video.

Good, slightly twee sometimes, and...
The script of the series is good and the actors did a great job. However, I just "wonder" what happened to Fred Savage during the years spent on the making of the series. Did he grow up normally, as we were watching him, in this sort of Truman's show? Of course, we did not watch his real life but we did watched him all the same. It would be a relief to know if he does not hate this series now.

Poor Tape Quality
The story was excellent, but the tape quality was awful. It appeared as if someone taped it at home on their VCR using ELP speed. I was beginning to think it was bootlegged.

Jan Brady tries to emerge from sister Marcia's shadow
The people who put together these volumes of two episodes from "The Brady Bunch" did it right with the thematic approach that focuses on a particular character. This volume welcomes us to the unhappy world of Jan Brady (Eve Plump). As we all remember, Jan is the middle daughter in the Brady Bunch, but that does not matter because the cosmic joke played out repeatedly at Jan's expense is that she is the younger sister of Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, Marcia (Maureen McCormick). First up is "Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up?" (Episode #40, January 15, 1971) where Jan tries to change her personality with a brown wig. "Her Sister's Shadow" (Episode #59, November 19, 1971) has Jan trying to repeat her sister's success in the marvelous world of pom-poms. Actually, this is the episode where Jan finally arrives at the key insight in her psychological makeup when she admits that she wants to win at something so badly but does not know what to do. All too often we find the Brady's too be pathetic; but this is one time when Jan become a true figure of pathos. If you are a Jan fan, this volume of "The Brady Bunch" is the one you will treasure the most.

Some of the best Brady episodes ever
One of the great things about the Brady Bunch was that it was a show about some of the problems kids have to face while growing up. Needs Complete Season DVD Boxsets!
The Bob Newhart Show is one of my favorite classic shows and I remember watching this show when I was a kid and I also watched reruns on Nick at Nite and TV Land but they are always either changing the schedule or not showing it at all for long periods of time. I really want this show to be released in complete season DVD boxsets and can't believe they haven't done it already. The tape is fine and has good episodes but they would be better on DVD.

Complete Season DVD Boxsets Would be Nice!
I was 4 years old when The Brady Bunch was on TV for the first time with their pilot episode Honeymoon and it is one of my favorite episodes as well as the Camping episode, both episodes are great with really cute humor and I would like to see The Brady Bunch put on DVD in complete season boxsets!

Classic... BUT.... Something's missing....
Honeymoon is the first episode, where they "must somehow form a family" -- Mike and ... get married.

A Camping We Will Go is a classic from early in the series where they are still trying to form a family.

HOWEVER, having watched these episodes when they first ran, this video seems to have trimmed scenes out of both episodes! Especially in the camping video, there seems to be NO support for the girls projecting the bear onto the boys tent. In the original I saw, the boys did something to provoke it. NOT IN THIS VIDEO. So dissapointed. I've noticed the same thing (cut scenes) in the Gilligan's Island videos from AOL/TimeWarner.

Anyone else notice this? Am I dreaming?

Yet another collection of great Brady episodes.
This video collection contains two episodes "The Honeymoon" and "A Camping We Will Go". For all of you classic TV buffs, you'll be interested to know that the first episode in this collection is the pilot for the series, and explains how Mike and Carol got married. In the second episode, Mike offers to bring the girls on an annual camping trip with Greg, Peter, and Bobby, much to their dismay. You can be sure that some interesting things will happen. Almost reminds me of the camping scenes in The Parent Trap. A truely classic episode.

These are two of the greatest episodes from the first season of The Brady Bunch, and is an excellent addition to your home library.

I think that these 2 episofdes are 2 of the best they did. They are both funny abd heartwarming and both show the true Brady spirit in the end. The two families constant changes as they adapt to thier new life styles are hilarious, and the "bear" beats them all.

This video contains the "Pilot" episode.
In the pilot episode, "The Honeymoon", Carol (and her 3 daughters) marries Mike Brady (and his 3 sons). The battle of boys against girls begins in classic Brady Bunch style!

In the second episode, "A Camping We Will Go", the Brady boys are not exactly happy when their dad invites Carol and the girls on their annual camping trip. The boys do everything in their power to ensure that the girls will never want to go camping again!

Andy and Barney are always great
Just want to assure you that this is a good video. It does have the silly whistling song, instead of the original Andy Griffith theme, but we didn't really mind that. We quit watching tv because it was just getting too obscene, so this was a real find for us, and truly enjoyable.

Where's the theme song?
I guess the video company that purchased the rights to these episodes decided it would be less expensive to compose their own theme music instead of paying the copyright holder to use the familiar "whistling" tune on the tape. Whatever the reason, it doesn't work.

The episodes are the same great shows we all remember, but the music isn't the same and the visual quality of the tape itself is a little bit shaky. Be aware of this if you're considering a purchase of this cassette.

A great collection of Andy!

Great shows,but very dissapointing video!!!
"The Andy Griffith Show" is perhaps one of the absolute best and very entertaining shows of its time.However,there are 16 episodes of the series,mostly from the 3rd Season,that have end up in the public domain and that means that there are many different companies out there that are releasing the shows often at times with poor picture and sound or even removing the classic original theme music.But this UAV video package is one of those few.This video contains 10 out of the 16 public domain episodes of TAGS and all of the shows contain very innapropriate stock keyboard music,which makes the opening theme look like something off of Saturday Morning TV for Kids and it also ruins the whole atmosphere of the series!! I give this two stars,because both the picture and sound quality are superb,but ZERO for the opening and end credit music.Some years ago,UAV released a series of AUTHORIZED "Andy Griffith Show" episodes such as "A Christmas Story","Haunted House",and many other episodes and yes,all of those releases did contain the original theme music.Unfortunately,these videos are now out-of-print and are often considered collector's items! So I urge the AGS fans to avoid this tape at all costs and I strongly recommnend either the Platinum Disc or Brentwood DVD's of the series as they do outstanding jobs using better quality opening and closing music compared to this version!! I will never buy these shows from either UAV or Madacy or any other crappy distributor that puts out these great shows!! Avoid this and or any other AGS titles from UAV,period!!!

Good except for intro music
The episodes listed are good choices as the episodes are interesting and they span the main cast. The video quality is excellent, as is the sound. This can not be said of all Mayberry videos. The only detraction is that the video producer chose different but similar sounding intro music, presumably to avoid paying royalties on the music. This is practical, but how many of us buy Mayberry video's for practical reasons? My kids think this is the original music - a small but disappointing fact.

Overall, with well-chosen episodes, great quality images and sound, this is a good video for Andy fans and those with kids who want quality entertainment with traditional values. ... Read more

One Of The Best Christmas Shows Ever Done For Any TV Series!
"The Andy Griffith Show" was on network television for 8 seasons (1960-1968), and thanks to syndication it has never been off the air since.

The series' first season featured its one and only Christmas-themed show (entitled "Christmas Story"), and it is one of the finest Yuletide programs ever produced for a weekly TV series (in my own opinion, that is -- which is, I admit, tainted slightly with a built-in "Andy Griffith Show" bias). :)

"Christmas Story" co-stars Will Wright as mean and spiteful local department-store owner "Ben Weaver", who causes a bit of trouble on Christmas Eve for the Mayberry law-enforcement officers (Andy Taylor and Barney Fife). In reality, however, spiteful old Ben is deliberately *trying* to get himself arrested by "Fast Gun Fife", in order to join in the holiday festivities at the Courthouse.

The episode plays out very nicely, with Andy eventually "catching on" to Ben's little scheme. And, in typical Andrew Taylor fashion (with understanding and compassion -- even with regard to a man he's never really liked too much), Andy goes along with Ben's plan and dutifully arrests Weaver on the trumped-up charge of "emptying trash cans on the city streets".

Ben finally is able to join the party at the jailhouse, and even distributes gifts to everyone at the same time. Aunt Bee offers Ben a nice hot turkey dinner, and Ben's irritable and crusty nature melts away by episode's conclusion.

Another highlight of this moving and tender Christmas episode is when Elinor Donahue (who plays Andy's girlfriend, "Ellie Walker") sings "Away In A Manger" -- with guitar and vocal accompaniment from Andy. As the song progresses, the camera begins panning around the Courthouse and eventually pans to an outside window in one of the jail's cells -- and who's standing there behind the barred window? -- Ben Weaver, who sings right along with Andy and Ellie. A great, great scene.

Here's an interesting side note regarding the recording of that Christmas song for this episode ...... Elinor Donahue was evidently as nervous as a cat when it came time to pre-record the song for the show. Andy Griffith asked her to sit down on the floor of the recording studio because he could see she was nervous. They both sat on the floor in the middle of the studio, while Andy played his guitar and hummed along, telling Elinor she should start singing whenever she felt ready. So, whenever you're watching this Christmas episode, remember that Andy and Ellie were really sitting on the floor of a recording studio when they were singing "Away In A Manger".

"Christmas Story" was just the 10th episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" ever to air, first broadcast on CBS-TV on Monday night, December 19, 1960. The episode was directed by Bob Sweeney and written (expertly to say the least) by David Adler.

Point Me In The Direction Of Albuquerque
You just can't beat the Partridge Family. The lovable singing family was a big hit back in the 70's giving us teen idol David Cassidy as Keith. But, my favorite character was the irrascible Danny Bonaduce. Of course Shirley would have had to have several husbands to give birth to such a diverse group of kids. And, Chris made a remarkable transformation during the run of the show, but one brushed aside such matters and waited for the next great song as they went from concert to concert in their Mondrian-inspired bus. Kincaid was alot of fun as their manager. He and Danny played well off each other. I never could see the appeal in Susan Dey, but you get to see her in the spring of youth before going on to do such shows as LA Law. If ever there was a series crying out for a box set of DVD's or a Hollywood remake this is it.

VERY FUN TO WATCH AGAIN --
Although it would have been wonderful to have a cast member or two introduce and narrate these three videos, in their original form, they are plenty entertaining on their own. The first episode, which is actually quite funny, features two songs that have never been on any Partridge recording, and do not feature David Cassidy's voice. LET THE GOOD TIMES IN actually could have been a hit all on its own, and TOGETHER re-appeared a few times in the first season.

Up next is the classic episode revolving around Laurie's braces, and features an adorably young Mark Hamill, the boy would be Luke Skywalker. Again a mellow tune never on a Partridge album (Love Song) is the musical moment in this episode.

It is fun to watch the evolution of all cast members with the final episode of the final season. This episode features ROLLER COASTER, from the final studio album (Bulletin Board) by the musicians and vocalists who were The Partridge Family. The TV show really did have an acerbic wit at times, and the warm presence of Shirley Jones was a major asset. "The Partridge Family Strikes Agaia"
The Partridges are back in three great episodes. In "A Knight In Shining Armor",teen idol Bobby Sherman drops by to greet the Partridges in this season finale in the 1st season which marked Jeremy Gelbwaks' final appearance as Chris.

"But The Memory Lingers On" has the Partridges encountered by a skunk. One of Danny Bonaduce's favorites.And in "The Eleven Year Old Itch",Danny has a crush on Julie (played by former kid actress Jodie Foster).This set of episodes is for any Partridge fan in the family.
