2-0 out of 5 stars Episode is Less Than a Treasure
The Tunnel Dwellers find a priceless buried treasure and begin to bicker over what to do with the contents. One Tunnel Dweller becomes consumed with greed and resorts to violence to get what he wants. You've seen this type of thing before, and this episode breathes no new life into the story. It never really rises above the level of cliche.

In 1998 I conducted a poll among Beauty and the Beast fans asking them to rate the 44 episodes of the first two seasons on a 1-to-10 scale. 31 fans participated. "Fever" finished 41st out of the 44 episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gilligan "Two on a Raft very funny and enjoyable to watch.
I bought this video because I remembered how much I enjoyed watching Gilligan as a kid and wanted my kids to see it too. My five year old thinks Gilligan is just hilarious! We laughed and laughed. I don't mind that it is colorized. The part where Gilligan and Skipper are out on the raft and the sharks eat the raft was great.

4-0 out of 5 stars COLORIZED
Excellent episodes, but they've been colorized. I was so surprised to see these episodes in color (I didn't even have a color TV when I saw these the first time). It was quite disconcerting to see these episodes in color. Also, they seem to have been edited: the skipper doesn't ever hit Gilligan with his hat (or maybe he started doing that in later episodes?)....

I would have given it 5 stars if it had been in B&W (original format).

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a tape of two episodes of Gilligan's island
This two episode set contains the first episode of Gilligan's Island the first episode is titled Two on a Raft and involves the castaways trying to get of the island. The Professor tells the Skipper and Gilligan to watch out for headhunters on nearby islands. The bumbling crew set out, but a shark attack and a sudden storm cause them to land on an island(the same one they left)! remembering what the Professor told them, the Skipper and Gilligan think the other castaways are headhunters, and vice versa. The second episode involves the castaways trying to build a hut on the island. They do, but they all get on each others nerves so they decide to build individual huts however a set of minor disasters(Gilligan), causes the destruction of the huts. the castaways all have to try to build one major hut before a hurricane hits. 4-0 out of 5 stars Paracelsus sends Vincent on an Unexpected "Trip"
The tunnel dwellers find themselves in a dilemna as the producer of a dangerous recreational drug responsible for many deaths Above turns out be a man (called Paracelsus) whom they exiled many years ago. How can they stop Paracelsus without taking the risk that he will expose the existence of the tunnel society to the authorities Above? Vincent takes this task upon himself, but he finds Paracelsus to be a formidable foe. There is some good drama here, and this is the episode that introduces us to the enigmatic Paracelsus.

In 1998 I conducted a poll among Beauty and the Beast fans asking them to rate the 44 episodes of the first two seasons on a 1-to-10 scale. 31 fans participated. "The Alchemist" finished 24th out of the 44 episodes.

4-0 out of 5 stars and as for the queen/princess?
Hey, I have a question - how come none of these videos feature the Draconians, and that Draconian princess/queen, who was so spoiled and bratty and wore little more than dental floss, and whose ultimate goal I suspect was not to perpetrate evil but just to find some way to get Buck's attention focused on her? I mean, wow, why don't any of the videos feature one of the epsiodes where she was a focus? And remember her bodyguards, Tiger-man and later Panther-man? I think that was it. As I recall, one of them messed up or helped the good guys once and so was replaced by the other posthumously. My whole point is I couldn't figure out, even in my pre-teen youth, why Buck would even think about straight-arrow Wilma Deering when he had the princess fawning all over him at every chance! I mean, she was so bad it was GOOD, and Buck always seemed to handle her with maturity and wisdom(and not libido, amazingly. Now that's stamina!). What a spoiled brat, I personally just thought she was incredibly sexy, even before I knew what the term meant. Would anyone else agree? Hooray for the sexy Draconian queen! Wilma was always like the Mary-anne of the show, too girl-next-door for my tastes. The princess was definitely more of a Ginger than a Mary-anne. Buck should have wised-up when he had the chance. Such a tryst couldn't possibly have lasted, but it certainly would have made for an interesting couple of episodes.....
What do you think, is it possible that the studios did not want to release a video with her featured in it because of her racy wardrobe? Or is my memory simply dulled by time, so that I can only remember her evil thin smile and not how bad of an actress she may have been. Another thing, I thought the Draconian ships looked pretty cool, they were the design antithesis to Buck's white, clean spaceships. Wouldn't those in charge of reissuing these shows want to show off their special effects work like that? That goes double for Hawk and his ship, which were a significant part of the later series, but only appeared in 1 video so far,I think. AND WHEN DO I GET A DVD? I mean, we finally got Space 1999 in its entirety, and now the Hulk; I think there's room for Buck Rogers on the shelf and I know I would sure buy some of them. And what about Brisco County, Jr, from the 90's, with Bruce Campbell? Those were good, too!

4-0 out of 5 stars It's About Time for this Video!
Buck is entrusted with a box,but he does not know who-or where=to take it.The box holds time, and it enables several crew members of the Searcher to see into the future or past. The ending will touch your heart. It is interestin to get background info on sone characters, especially Hawk.I love seeing Wilma Deering looking more feminine than she does in any other episode. If You're a Buck Rogers fan, this video is worth YOUR time!

5-0 out of 5 stars what is the show about?
All of Buck Rogers shows are the best science fiction shows. I just want to be able to look on the internet and be able to read what each show is all about. then give say what ever you want about the show. The show has alot of special effects, excitment, action, and adventure. Anybody who likes science fiction will love this show. Go for it, watch it. Tonya Lantz

5-0 out of 5 stars We miss you Buck!
If you are looking for just a couple of Buck Rogers videos for your collection, this is certainly one to consider. It was one of the best. I also highly recommend the Buck Rogers In The 25th Century pilot movie. Gil Gerard was absolutely awesome - and clever, witty, handsome, fun and charismatic as Buck Rogers. Buck Rogers was overlooked as a television show and Gil Gerard was overlooked as an actor in later years. The man was incredible. His co-stars were also admirable. And, for fans of the daytime drama, "One Life to Live," you will recognize the character of Buck Roger's Hawk, portrayed by Thom Christopher, as One Life to Live's Carlo Hesser. If you were a Buck Rogers fan, this is one of the videos to get. If you are a true Gil Gerard fan and loved Buck Rogers, get all of the videos while you can. Gil Gerard is missed; and so are shows like Buck Rogers. You can't try to take shows like this too seriously. They were meant to be fun and entertaining and Gil Gerard and cast give us exactly that - entertainment!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nancy Drew Should Be on DVD!
Nancy Drew was one of my favorite TV shows in the 70's, based on the mystery books for young readers by Carolyn Keene it is about a teenager named Nancy Drew who has a knack for solving mysteries and crimes and stars Pamela Sue Martin (Dynasty) as Nancy. The Secret of the Whispering Walls is my favorite episode and is about Nancy's two elderly aunts who live in an old mansion where some strange events are happening and Nancy with the help of her friends Ned and George investigates. I would love to see this and all of the Nancy Drew episodes put out on DVD especially in a boxset!

4-0 out of 5 stars Groovy Nancy
In 1977, Nancy Drew donned her double-knit pantsuit and set out with her friends George Fayne and Ned Nickerson to solve her very first mystery on television. Millions of girls sat spell-bound in front of their television sets, anxiously waiting to see if Nancy could solve the puzzling incidents in her hometown, River Heights USA.
The Nancy Drew Mysteries television show of the 1970s was saturated in cultural influences. Nancy danced to disco, drove a groovy blue sports car and even teamed up with the Hardy Boys (wearing their leisure suits) to bust crime the 70s way.
Her glamourous adventures included posing as a world-famous professional tennis player, solving mysteries aboard cruise ships and overthrowing counterfeit gangs.
What adventure! What romance! What intrigue!
In this episode, Nancy stays at an old southern mansion complete with hidden passages, cranky neighbors and voices in the walls.
"Secret of the Whispering Walls" is extrememly reminiscent of The Secret of Red Gate Farm, one of the original Nancy Drew Mystery Stories. You might even call it a combination of Red Gate Farm and The Hidden Staircase.
George is a little out of character; she's too much of a fraidy-cat when it comes to investigating.
Despite it's shortcomings, this episode is one of my favorites.

5-0 out of 5 stars FOR HUGE DREW/HARDYS FANS, BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been obsessively collecting Hardy Boys books since Day 1 and I like N. Drew, too. This is a great one and any Hardys/Drew fan will love it! One would think this is corny, but it really is well done and not the least bit corny.

3-0 out of 5 stars Classic Nancy Drew mystery

4-0 out of 5 stars "We Can't Let Them Hurt the Helpless Ones"
So says Vincent to Catherine as he enlists her aid in rescuing children from an abusive foster home. Vincent and Catherine work as a team in this one and triumph over the bad guys (as you might expect). I think it works pretty well (contrary to the producers of the series, who reportedly thought this episode among the weakest). There are some nice moments between Vincent and Catherine here, and a little more comic relief than is usual for this series.

In 1998 I conducted a poll among Beauty and the Beast fans asking them to rate the 44 episodes of the first two seasons on a 1-to-10 scale. 31 fans participated. "A Children's Story" finished 31st out of the 44 episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will Catherine Ever See "That Heavenly Face" Again?
Catherine gets a job offer in Providence, Rhode Island that would make for a spectacular career advancement. She is reluctant to take it because it would mean leaving New York and moving away from Vincent. She consults him on the matter. Though Vincent can scarcely bear the thought of her moving away, he knows that he is all that is standing between Catherine and the job opportunity. He is too noble and self-sacrificing to allow himself to stand between Catherine and ANYTHING that might be good for her, so he lies through his fangs and tells her that the best thing for BOTH OF THEM is for her to go to Providence and fulfill her potential (though, of course, it will only make both of them miserable). But he talks her into it. Afterwards, deeply distressed, he walks out of the tunnels without, perhaps, taking his usual care in concealing his identity. He is captured by a scientist. The scientist studies him as one might a lab animal and plans to unveil him to the world as a great discovery (I will note here that parts of the episode don't hold up to strict standards of plausibility). Catherine eventually manages to track him down and assist Vincent to freedom. The final scene is one of the most powerfully-moving in the entire series. In it Catherine leaves no doubt as to who her "heart's best treasure" is, or whose "heavenly face" she feared she would never see again. There will be no more talk of moving away from New York for a job offer.

In 1998 I conducted a poll among Beauty and the Beast fans asking them to rate the 44 episodes of the first two seasons on a 1-to-10 scale. 31 fans participated. "Nor Iron Bars a Cage" finished 18th out of the 44 episodes.

I placed "Nor Iron Bars a Cage" 11th in my own personal 1-through-44 rank-ordering of the episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking and warm ending.
A once in a lifetime opportunity brings Catherine's life to a heartbreaking decision. Faced with the possibility of loosing Catherine, Vincent falls victim of despair. I liked the episode because it shows the depth of Vincent's love and the dangers he faces upon venturing Above. It also brings Father to face the truth about the love Vincent and Catherine share and his opposition to it. Great shot of Vincent's eyes! Heartwrenching begining but heartwarming ending.

5-0 out of 5 stars Captured and caged like an animal, Vincent prepares to die.
When Catherine accepts a transfer to Providence, RI, Vincent tries to be happy for her sake, yet he's emotionally ravaged. In a moment when he's less than cautious, he's trapped above, caged, and experimented on like an animal. With Catherine's help, he's freed, and she finally admits to herself she cannot leave him - ever, because she loves him more than her own life. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Elliot and Catherine, Together Forever?
Elliot Burch, eligible young real estate tycoon and Catherine's once and would-be boyfriend, is erecting what would be the world's tallest building. The laying of the foundation for the building threatens the very existence of the tunnel community. An anguished Catherine thinks she has a plan for stopping Burch's tower, but only at the cost of heartbreak for both Vincent and her. This intense drama builds to a harrowing emotional climax. The conclusion, making great use of the Shelley poem from which the episode derives its title, ENLARGES the story and elevates Elliot from an interesting character to a tragic figure.

In 1998 I conducted a poll among Beauty and the Beast fans asking them to rate the 44 episodes of the first two seasons on a 1-to-10 scale. 31 fans participated. "Ozymandias" finished 8th out of the 44 episodes.

I placed "Ozymandias" 8th in my own personal 1-through-44 rank-ordering of the episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the series' best
When Vincent's world is threatened by the building of a gigantic skyscraper, Catherine must intervene to save it. This is one of the finest episodes this wonderful series ever produced, combining all the elements that fans of the show love: heart-wrenching drama, suspense, a tried-and-true nemesis, gripping romance, and the beautiful poetry-reading of Ron Perlman. His rendition of the title poem is the icing on the cake. Simply stunning. If you like this show, this is a must-see! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars More fun filled wacky happenings on "Gilligan's Island"
This videotape serves up another pair of episodes from the first season of "Gilligan's Island" (1964-1965), although unlike most of the other volumes in this series they are not consecutive episodes. First up in Episode #3 "Voodoo Something to Me" it seems various items are mysteriously vanishing from the camp. The Skipper (Alan Hale, Jr.) quickly becomes convinced it is because of evil spirits. What it really turns out to be is a chimpanzee. While the Castaways are searching for the real culprit, Gilligan (Bob Denver) falls into a mud hole and while he is washing his clothes the chimp steals them and puts them on. Of course, the Skipper finds out that his little buddy has been changed into an ape by the voodoo curse and is rather upset. This would have been a good episode to pair up with "Waiting for Watubi," but none of these tapes are thematically oriented.

Then in Episode #9 "The Big Gold Strike" Gilligan discovers a gold mine on the island and is set to work night and day mining the gold by Mr. Howell (Jim Backus). Meanwhile, the life raft from the "Minnow" has washed ashore providing the Castaways with an opportunity to try and reach another island. But "Gilligan's Island" is a classic American "idiot" sitcom and that means that the two plotlines of this particular episode are going to collide and insure that the situation is preserved for the next week's fun. Neither offering qualifies as a classic episode of the series, but these are certainly representative of what the show was like during that first season. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The "Beast" emerges!
When Vincent's old friend returns with a vengence he gets caught up in an investigation pursued by Catherine. Despite Vincent's warning, Catherine continues the risky case only to be shot by Vincent's enemy. This results in a harsh Vincent, but a sweet ending. Best Quote: "If you die, so do I."

3-0 out of 5 stars "A Life Without You Would be Unbearable"
So says Vincent to Catherine as he frets over her safety after she takes on a case that involves organized crime. The episode has some virtues. There are some nice moments between Vincent and Catherine, and the villain is a little more interesting than most, owing to the fact that he has boyhood ties to Vincent. But it is not one of the more plausible episodes. In one particularly ludicrous moment, Vincent abandons a bleeding and unconscious Catherine (who has been shot!) on the steps outside a hospital so he can pursue vengeance on those who shot her. Wouldn't the top priority be getting medical care for Catherine? I would think that getting her medical attention would be more important than concealing his identity, even, if it came to that. How long might she lie out there unattended? Of course (as luck would have it!) a medical person saunters out of the hospital right after Vincent leaves and immediately takes responsibility for the situation.

In 1998 I conducted a poll among Beauty and the Beast fans asking them to rate the 44 episodes of the first two seasons on a 1-to-10 scale. 31 fans participated. "The Beast Within" finished 38th out of the 44 episodes.

I placed "The Beast Within" 38th in my own personal 1-through-44 rank-ordering of the episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great! Catherine investigates a most dangerous case!!!
Catherine investigates a dangerous case, and Vincent is apprehensive of her doing this task because he knows what dangers might lie ahead for Catherine. This video will definitely keep you on your toes for one action packed hour of suspense. Enjoy! I loved the movie/episode, a must for any LH fan or B&B fan! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful Western
As others reviewers have noted, 1959's "No Name on the Bullet" is far from being a typical Audie Murphy western. Under Jack Arnold's expert direction, the focus here is on suspense and tension, rather than action. When gunman John Gant rides into town, most of the local citizens are justifiably nervous. Gant is a hired killer, and he seldom visits a town just to see the sights. Much of the film revolves around the questions--why is he here ? Who is he after ? Which of the town's citizens will die ? Since Gant isn't the talkative type, the suspense keeps building, not to mention the nervous paranoia of the townfolk.

As Gant, Murphy delivers a chilling performance. You never doubt that, behind that baby face and modest build, is a man not to be crossed ( by all accounts, in real life, as well as in movies ). He is not intimidated by anyone, not even a hostile crowd who thinks that, by sheer numbers, it can scare him away. As the town's doctor who tries to befriend Gant, Charles Drake delivers a strong performance as he comes to realize that he cannot distract the killer from his purpose.
Other fine supporting actors further add to the quality of the film--Whit Bissell, Karl Swenson, Warren Stevens and Virginia Grey. Apart from one climactic scene with Mr. Murphy, leading lady, Joan Evans ( not to be confused with the popular comedienne ), has little to do but make coffee for her "man", Charles Drake.

I found the ending to be memorable, and--for those of you who like action--there is gunplay at certain crucial parts of the movie.

The DVD has beautiful colour, is widescreen and mono sound. The only extra is the original trailer.

Audie Murphy made a lot of westerns in the 1950s and 60s. "No Name on the Bullet" is not the most action-packed, but it is certainly one of the most interesting, and features one of his best perfomances. If he is not yet represented in your western DVD collection, this is an excellent title to start with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Western
Audie Murphy is actually one of the most believable western movie stars. His ability in armed combat prove this and this particular western movie is one of the best. I have watched and own many western movies, and this is one of my favorites.
Murphy plays a clean cut and possible hero in every western he plays in, but this role is one of his most unusual. I recommend it to any western film collector.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't miss this outstanding western.
Audie Murphy was the most decorated soldier of World War II. After the war he got involved with movies -- predominantly westerns. Frankly, his films are highly variable in quality. Some are pretty bad B movies. But given a good script, good direction, and good supporting actors, Murphy turned in several surprisingly fine performances. No Name on the Bullet is a case in point. Murphy convincingly plays John Gant -- a cool, deceptively-likeable hired killer with a reputation for goading his intended victim into attempting to draw first so that Gant can always get off by claiming self defence. This movie is a study of the effect of Gant's arrival in a town on it's citizens. While Gant quietly drinks coffee in the hotel bar or plays chess with the local doctor, the town's leading citizens go to pieces because their secret guilts convince each of them that he is Gant's target. The finale of this tense psychological drama is surprising but not contrived. This is a very good western by any standard and probably Audie Murphy's best. I hope its availability on DVD will find it the wide audience which it richly deserves.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Unusual Western, Audie Murphy's Best
Audie Murphy gives one of his best performances as John Gant, the hired assassin, whose arrival in town pricks a lot of guilty consciences. No one is absolutely certain who he came to kill, but that doesn't stop a few restless townspeople from getting nervous and cracking under the pressure as Gant plays it cool and bides his time. He seems unsurprised by the effect his presence has in town. As Gant eloquently puts it, he doesn't have to deliver a bullet to those types of men because "they are already dead," suffocated by the weight of guilt caused by past sins. Gants kills only who he is paid to kill, and only time will tell who he has really come for.

But there's more to this cold-blooded avenger than meets the eye. Or so thinks Luke, the town's likeable physician, who is a paragon of civic and moral virtue. Juxtapposed against each other, the two seem to be exact opposites, but a sort of friendship develops as Luke tries desperately to get into Gant's head and somehow turn him around before he does what he came to do. No Name on the Bullet explores many interesting issues such as vengeance, justice, law and the burden of sin. Audie Murphy reveals his darker side as he plays the self-named "avenging angel." He even tries to compares himself to his new friend Luke because in his mind, he too is concerned with eliminating "public health problems," namely those who are guilty but unpunished.

Just like Murphy himself, there's more to this film than meets the eye. And the plot takes a surprising turn at the end, too, so it's altogether unpredictable. As evidenced by another great performance in To Hell and Back, Audie Murphy was certainly a great soldier on screen and off. Although he was the most decorated soldier of World War II, like many other greats of his day (John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart) Murphy probably felt he was just doing his duty. There are those who think this may be just another Audie Murphy western, but this is not true at all. It's a stellar film that stands alone in its brilliant performances and handling of the fallen human condition.

5-0 out of 5 stars A splendid performance by Murphy!!!
Everyone always talks about Audie Murphy's baby face and his slight build. But take a close look at his eyes. He was a cold-eyed individual, brought about largely by his 2 years in combat and subsequently suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. If he had been born during the Old West times, he would have been a killer. "No Name on the Bullet" personifies Murphy's personality had he lived during those times.

Murphy gives a splendid performance as John Gant, a hired killer whose presence in Lordsburg causes total chaos, even though he does nothing at first - just sitting around drinking coffee and playing chess with the local physician.

Murphy's facial expressions were great as he smugly looked around and watched the carnage his name and reputation created. The banker winds up killing himself (even though he wasn't Murphy's target), and another man in town tries to get drunk enough to have the courage to face Gant, who stares him down and sends him fleeing from the bar.

This was probably Murphy's finest performance outside of "To Hell and Back," when he was not really acting but working on raw emotion, adrenaline and painful memories of the war.

Even when the town bands together and comes to make him leave, Gant remains cold as ice and backs them down. He knew they could kill him, but the question was "How many could Gant kill before they killed him?" None of them were willing to die to get rid of Gant.

Charles Drake also delivered a great performance as the physician opposite Murphy's character. While the entire town was in panic and chaos, wondering who Gant had come for, Drake calmly plays a game of chess with the gunman, trying to get inside his head and figure out what "makes him tick."

A suspenseful thriller with a minimum amount of violence, "No Name on the Bullet" comes highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars On my October 31st list of videos to watch
Buck Rogers has always been about lasers and high tech up to this point, and then everything changed(for the better). Yeah the lasers and high tech are still there(that's mandantory Buck) but the mystical becomes a part of these later series(80-81 I am guessing). Much like Dr. Who at this time period, Buck Rogers, an otherwise lighthearted show of a wise cracking Space Cowboy, becomes a hybrid of funny and downright grave. This takes place on into the Hawk series(which is not availibe except for the Guardian) This Vampire sci-fi thriller is the best of Buck, I think. It shows you can make a scary set with modern settings as a darkened spaceship corridor. The soundtrack and camera angles(even in computer rooms) was downright creepy. Wilma's(Erin Grey) personality was quite a bit different from her usual matter-of-fact self.(nice outfit)
I grew up with this show and the hybrid sci-fi/fantasy time period of other serials. And that is why I think both are important in one story. You won't find that now(or if you do it's not as well plotted or believable). The comic relief was a relief from the spookiness and seriousness of this story.(and women dressed better heh!)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best (?) Vampire Flick Ever!!
Alright, maybe not. But like one of the other commentators, I was scared stiff the first time I watched it, curled up beside my dad on the couch. Until I purchased this tape last year, the only memory I had was of Wilma (Erin Gray) tilting her head back as the Vorvon (vampire) drained her essence. Throughout my childhood, teenage years, college and even now, when I think of a scary vampire, I imagine some guy with long fingernails sticking them against my neck.

So the sets are ridiculously fake. The vampire's evil laugh is actually rather laughable. And Buck's saving the day is somewhat overdone. But this has what it takes! Wilma's a sizzling vampiress, and steals the show. [But then, didn't her bare midriff always steal the show when we were growing up, much like Daisy Duke?]

It probably won't scare you today. But it's definitely a great episode to take you back in time. Enjoy!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Space Vampire - Why Not?
I remember the day with startling clarity - January 3, 1980...the day I became a man.Okay, a little history for you sci-fi afficionados:Before there was Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, or Star Trek: Fill-in-the-Blank...there was Buck Rogers.'Buck Rogers', and it's sister show - the superior 'Battlestar Galactica' - were the only thing going for science fiction on television in 1979 and 1980. I was just a boy, a wee lad, still in my jammies, and I loved science fiction with a vengeance. Even at 11 years of age, I knew that 'Buck Rogers' was sub-par sci-fi...but it had one thing going for it that no other science fiction series of it's time had...It had Erin Gray. The three things that best defined 'Buck Rogers' as a series - and of my oncoming momentum into puberty - were:1) Erin Gray2) Spandex3) Erin GrayFrankly, the rest of the show - the Starfighters, the laser blasts, the re-used spaceship models from 'Galactica', Gary Coleman...you could have shoved them all into a nuclear reaction and STILL the only thing that would have mattered would have been Erin Gray.Yep, I was hooked.Which brings us to January 3, 1980 - the day 'Space Vampire' premiered.Okay, it was not that good - but Erin Gray gets turned into a Vorvon (i.e. Vampire) and goes all sultry...and my little life was changed forever.Trust me. Rent it, buy it, or tape it. You'll understand.

3-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining by default
I found this one of the weaker episodes. This one still featured the goodies you come to expect from"Buck",Wilma Deering and her jump suit, Gil Gerard creakily completing martial arts moves, thatlittle robot guy and the contrasting of 25th century Earth with 20th Century Earth. But there was no atomosphere. Vampire stories demand a certain amount of gloom and creepiness, thats one thing that makes them fun and its also the one thing this episode lacks. At least the set lights could have been dimmed. Any Buck is good Buck, but this one disappointed me a little because I expected better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buck Roger's space vampire
Space vampire was one of the better "Buck" episodes, along with "vegas in space" ect. as alway's Erin Grey made the episode work of course. when the vamp was "speaking thru Her" it was chilling Of course back then I was 15-16 yr's old. The Buck Roger's episodes brought in many special effect's to broadcast t.v.. of course disco was the flavor of the day then also. alway's a sci-fi fan since 8-9 I enjoyed buck roger's along with my library of perhaps 2000 paper-back book's (sci-fi) I had read by that time Space Vampire is a very good Buck roger's episode to keep and enjoy again and again.... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best
I have 4 Nancy Drew movies. I think this was like 3rd or 4th one I watched and It's one of my favs. It has a great plot. You'd never guess who the culprit was. I thought it was someone else. I was wrong. Great twist at the end!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the better Nancy Drew episodes
It's too bad there aren't more of these. You have to like the title, as the Nancy Drew book series has always been written by a succession of ghostwriters. Pamela Sue Martin is great as Nancy: she does a good job of being inquisitive and persistent without being irritating, and she handles annoying characters with finesse. When the mystery author she is accompanying on a cruise gets cryptic death threats, nothing can be proven so of course it's up to Nancy to solve the case. They do a nice job of making it spooky, like when Nancy and the author are walking the deck at night through fog, searching for the source of an eerie, echoing voice. At another point, the ship is threatened by a tidal wave. With Pamela having done "Poseidon Adventure," the director must have had to resist an impulse to have her look at the camera and say, "Not again." I also like how they keep you guessing who the culprit is from among their shipmates, unlike some other episodes where the audience knows what's going on before Nancy figures it out. It's fun to relive the days when, for a very short time, creepy-but-innocent entertainment featured not an older gal like Angela Lansbury, but a beautiful young woman.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Love Boat was never this Dangerous
Ever Sunday night I would rush home to watch the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. Parker Stevenson and shaun Cassidy were the Hardys,Pamela Su Martin protrayed our favorite girl Detecive Nancy. This video "Nancy Drew and the Ghostwriter's Cruise" is the best in the series. Nancy and her friend George are traveling with world famous mystery writer John Addams and his niece Cathy aboard a cruise ship Nancy soon discover this trip is not going to be all fun in the sun.Te writer soon becomes the victim of several attempts on his life. Someone wants Mr. Addams to live at his first novel and rewrite the ending so there is no sequel.I alwayed enjoyed reading the Nancy Drew books and the television series was able to bring life to this exciting and intelligent detevice character. Pamela Sue Martin is great in the role and the supporting cast are also wondeful. Buy this tape and you will not regrat it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Spooky

5-0 out of 5 stars you said it jpalms from north carolina!!! DVD PLEASE!!!!
It is such a funny classic in my opinion! I am a big fan of Bob Hope and had never heard of the film, but I was able to finally catch it one time on tv as per my mother's recommendation and I am so lucky to have seen it. I was disappointed to find that this movie does not exist in dvd format. PLEASE PLEASE!!! It deserves a place in the Bob Hope dvd movie collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars PLEASE PUT THIS MOVIE ON DVD DVD DVD!!!!!!
I first saw this movie in the theatre when I was very young and loved it. After all these years I still love it and wish the studio would produce this on DVD. Especially, since Bob Hope just turned 100. What a classic comedy that shows what suburbia was like in the 50s and 60s with Bob's take on everyday household encounters. The leading lady of Lana Turner is also a plus for this movie. Again Please Take This Hint......DVD, DVD, DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bob Hope at His Timeless Best!
If you love to laugh...if you love TIMELESS comedy...THIS is a MUST HAVE!This is the best entertainer the world has ever seen...at least in popularity and comedy. It does not matter how many times I see this movie...I love it, and want to see it again and again. Never tire of it. It hearkens back to simpler, better times in America, stress free, when the only problems were the mysterious single guy down the street who unbeknownst to the neighbors...is a swinging sex expert novelist...living anonymously among them to do further research. Tim Hutton and other stars add their ingredients to a top notch classic sixties comedy in the realm of Doris Day, James Garner, Carey Grant.

Settling into suburbia without a clue of how to manage a household, this master of comedy shows everyone how funny everyday life can be. BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars Still Funny!
Even though this movie is a little dated, it's still really funny. I always liked this movie when it was on TV in the past, but I wasn't sure if I would still like it due to not seeing it for so long. I ended up loving this movie. Bob Hope's one liners & facial expressions are priceless. Bob plays a writer that must do research on the lives of couples living in the suburbs for a book in order to get money to pay off the IRS. Overall, it's a fun filled movie that's great to watch over & over again!

4-0 out of 5 stars 60s Suburban Goofiness? I'm the one in Paradise!
I'm probably the last person in the world the makers of Bachelor In Paradise had in mind when they crafted this little piece of cinematic cuteness. I'm not a Bob Hope fan, and I'm not too keen on romantic comedies, either. In fact, I'm still not exactly sure what inspired me to watch the movie in the first place. Regardless, I LOVED Bachelor In Paradise.

This flick is hopelessly predictable, and yet I fell hopelessly in love with the goofy tale of writer A.J. Niles plunked into the Paradise Hills community to observe the quirky rites and rituals of its Atomic Age inhabitants. I think the movie's greatest appeal these days rests in its affectionate and humorous portrait of suburban America in the early 60s; from the houses painted "California Choral" to the way-cool drive-in restaurants and bowling alleys, this is the suburban America of Ed Wood minus the satire. I loved it.
But even if you're not a fan of postwar-era suburbia, there's plenty to like about the movie. Hope's lines are actually quite funny, the chemistry between he and Lana Turner is palpable, and the off-the-wall chaos that results from Hope's counseling of the bored women of Paradise Hills is a complete hoot.

All hail director Jack Arnold, master of mid-century pop culture fun. Now somebody put this puppy out on DVD! ... Read more

What a ... I wish I had read reviews about the DVD first. I just purchased this ... in a 2-pack for one dollar at Sam Goody (the second was a Jeff Fahey flick...don't ask). That means this film cost me 50 cents and I still got taken. First of all, warning about 2-pack DVD's marked "Value Priced Action Movies." Mine came wrapped in a carboard sleeve so you couldn't see the actual DVD cases. My DVD case for THE SWISS CONSPIRACY was a "second" with the title missing from the front and a thumbnail of the cover superimposed where it shouldn't have been. Instead of rejecting and replacing the sleeve (or DVD) they just repackaged it in a two-pack with a cardboard cover! For fifty cents I thought I could at least frame the sleeve like a mini-poster and use the disc as a frisbee, but nooooooo........even the disc broke after I flung it onto the freeway. Regarding the dreck within....it was edited for TV!! Repeat...edited for TV you ... ... What ... is wrong with Simitar, those major ... I've seen that once before with a film called THE KINGFISHER CAPER and now here we go again ... ...

1-0 out of 5 stars Only If You Have to Have the Stars
This dvd would be an okay runthrough of 60's drek if not for the jerky editing and the bleeped words. The film was apparently obtained from a tv distribution company which has bleeped out some of the words for a tv showing. It may not bother all, but I find it maddening. None of the stars is at their best here. In fact, I've never seen John Saxon this bad. I wish more care had been taken with the release--as it is, I keep wanting to pitch my copy out. Simitar has done much, much better elsewhere. ... Read more
