5-0 out of 5 stars Something For Joey---"I really loved it."
I first saw this movie when I was about 7 years old, it came on TV. I loved it. I saw it again when I was at a friend's home in college, it was contained in her video collection. I missed the opportunity to acquire a copy of it. I'm kicking myself now. The fact that it was a true story made the movie even more enjoyable. It portrayed true human compassion and spirit, I've seen few things since that have moved me more. John where ever you are today, I'm sure Joey continues to be with you. I've thought of this movie a few times throughout my life for my own personal reasons and it continues to keep me reminded of why I do what I do.

I would just love it if anyone would be willing to send me a copy through the US Mail System or by some other means. Don't worry about the cost of the blank video or the shipping, I would be more than pleased to accept responsibility. Wishing at some point that Amazon.com makes this video available once again. Take care to all the reviewers to this classic, past and future. Joseph.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Movie that Withstands Time
I had seen this movie 4 or 5 times as a child. It made such a great impression on me that I have searched for it for 10-15 years. It shows the remarkable relationship between John and Joey Cappelletti. As Joey continues to request touchdowns from his brother, they build one of the strongest, most productive, relationships possible. Tears cannot help but be shed. Although in the end, Joey does pass away, John wins the one thing that will serve as a continual reminder of his brother--the Heisman Trophy. His love for Joey was the biggest motivator for his success. This is absolutely a "must see" movie. I bought it to share the experience with my children.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST Po5 EPISODE EVER!
This episode was, by far, one of the best episodes that they have ever done! Starting out with a family dinner was a good way to lure Bailey, but not the best. The best way to lure Bailey to their house was to get him there by using who he loves most: Owen. I thought the scenes with Lacey were absolutely wonderful. You could really feel her pain as she's talking to him on the phone. Then when he got there, they wanted him to go to rehab. Good acting on Scott's part. But I would have to say my all-time favorite scene in that episode was when Scott lost it with everyone and started attacking them, revealing information about their past. I had only started watching "Party of Five" during the third season, but I have been a faithful viewer...from then to when it was cancelled, and I am sorry it was. Loyal "Party of Five" fans will miss it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Show Never Watched
It's a shame this series struggled for life every season it was on. Party of Five brought some of the most original writing and acting the Fox Televison Network has ever seen. Next to X-Files, this is the single best series they ever produced. I adored every episode of the five years it was on and still miss this show dearly. I felt orphaned when it went off!

My only qualm about the videos is that most of them are pricey and yet contain only one episode-not a good deal at all! Especially "The Intervention" which was a two episode arc and they only delivered the first half to video-who does that? This show never got the respect it deserved while on the air and still is being snubbed by the studio's refusal to release it on DVD. But all is well because we have things like "The Simple Life" to keep us occupied...GET A GRIP FOX!!! PUT PO5 ON DVD THIS MINUTE!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars "Intervention" Rocks!!!
This is no doubt one of the best PO5 episodes of all time! When it's rare to find a television show which deals with family drama, you can look no further than "Party of Five!" When I first got hooked onto the show in the spring of 99, I thought it had great potential, and great characters! It started after I saw Lacey Chabert(Claudia) in "Lost in Space," and since then I wanted to see more of her in other things! She truly does shine in PO5 with this episode! As does Scott Wolf who gives his character Bailey more drama with his alcohol problem! What makes this episode stand out from the other episodes in my opinion is because it's all the characters in a closed surrounding when they try to make Bailey come to terms with his drinking problem! With the other episodes, you jump from one character to the next, and it's often to soap opera at times, and hard to keep up! This is one episode where the siblings all come together to save their brother! My compliments to Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, Lacey Chabert, and Jennifer Love Hewitt for making this episode truly work! It's too bad you couldn't see this movie become like a motion picture event(giggle)! That would have been neat!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have for any true "Party of Five" fan!!!
Simply put, this episode is the hallmark of everything that endeared viewers to this amazing drama that ran on the Fox network from 1994-2000. In the series' beginning, Bailey Salinger was the responsible sibling who put others and their needs before his own, especially when it came to younger siblings Julia, Claudia & Owen. Then Bailey goes off to college, where he has to care for no one except himself. And that's where his downfall begins. Bailey begins to drink--uncontrollably. He cuts himself off from his family, goes out partying and getting drunk every night, and buys liquor with money that was supposed to be used to pay for Owen's birthday celebration. When Bailey shows up at Owen's party stone drunk, the siblings begin to realize just how bad the problem is. So, they stage an intervention. The episode is powerfully written and acted as it walks you through the various stages mof the intervention: the tension beforehand, deciding how to get Bailey to come to the intervention, the emotions that the siblings have in seeing their brother's life in such a mess, Bailey's denial of his drinking problem. In one particularly stunning scene, Bailey feels as if he's being picked on, so he begins fighting back by throwing his siblings' past mistakes right back in their faces: Julia's unplanned pregnancy, Charlie's wedding-that-wasn't, and so on. Then, in the middle of all this mess, Joe, a longtime friend of the family, drops a bomb that catches the whole family off guard: their father was a recovering alcoholic whose drinking nearly wrecked the family. Claudia finds out what made her father to stop drinking, and at the end of the episode, she gives Bailey an ultimatum that leaves the family at a turning point, leaving the viewer on the edge. The writing is exceptionally realistic, as is the acting (especially on the parts of Scott Wolf as Bailey and Lacey Chabert as Claudia). A must-see for any true "Party"-goer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great series....
The attraction with this series as with so many was the chemistry between the characters. The sweetness of these kids in contrast with the harshness of their lives takes you away from reality and as we all need an esape of some sort, this is mine. I am a customer from the UK and doubt that we have had all of the series on our screens and we also don't have these videos released in the UK. 1-0 out of 5 stars Peter Ustinov returns as "Poirot".
Peter Ustinov returns for the third time as Belguim Detective, Hercule Poirot, since his portrail in DEATH ON THE NILE (1978) and EVIL UNDER THE SUN (1982). Thirteen At Dinner is a 1985 tv-movie. The cast includes Faye Dunaway and Lee Horsley (Matt Houston tv series). Poirot is interviewed by talk show host David Frost, who has just interviewed Lee Horsley as "Brian". A surprise on the talk show is Horsley's co-star Jane Wilkenson (played by Faye Dunaway). But after a few dramatic lines, we find out it is an impersonator. The real Jane Wilkenson (also played by Faye Dunaway) is at home watching this live on television. She invites them to her house for dinner, including the impersonator. The real Jane Wilkenson is also known as Lady Edgeway by marriage. She wants a divorce from her husband. later that night, Horsley confides to Poirot a strange woman has been following him. The next morning, we find out that Lady Edgeway's husband has been murdered last night. On the movie set, we se Lee Horsley in his "Matt Houston" role (listen for the in-joke). Horsley thinks Lady Edgeway did it and , of course, must be replaced on the movie.
Folks, if you do not have this one figured out in less than 10 minutes, you were into your ice cream. Okay, I'll give you 24 minutes. If you are too good, you have been watching "Columbo".
Followed by, with Peter ustinov as "Poirot": Dead man's Folly (1986-tv), Murder in Three Acts (1986-tv), Appointment With Death (1988).

1-0 out of 5 stars 'Thirteen At Dinner' will make you rush for dinner!
Horrible! Completely and utterly horrible! Horribly horrible!!
Why did they make this movie? For passing time? Wouldn't they rather have read a book, or gone jogging?
-->The negative aspects:
1. A cabbage placed in place of each actor, would have acted more impressively!
2. The sound recording makes you wonder why silent films are catching on again!
3. The dullness and dreariness are very genuine!
4. The music (meant to be eerie and have a mysterious air) really makes one scream...for other reasons, though!
5. Peter Ustinov (!)
6. The sets are very convincing...convincingly lousy!
7. The plot has been shown so clearly that one could easily mistake this movie for Bambi! (no offense meant for Walt Disney).
Please note: This list could continue endlessly!

-->The positive aspects:
1. A true depressent for one in extremely high spirits!

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor actors, bad script from bad choice of book to dramatise
This dramatisation is based on Agatha Christie's book "Lord Edgeware Dies" where the murder suspect is obvious but the evidence and alibis etc puts her in the clear and casts suspicions on other characters.

Readers would have immediately jumped to the conclusion that if actress Jane Wilkinson was seen to have entered the study of her husband Lord Edgeware the night he was murdered, at the same time she was supposed to be miles away attending a dinner party of 13, then her look-alike Charlotta must have been involved.

What made the book worth reading was how Poirot untangled the web of deceit to produce hard evidence to convict the murderer and clear the innocent. And that is something that would have been difficult to transpose from the printed pages into the screen.

Not impossible, but it would take an experienced team, with lots of patience into the art and a willingness to extend the show beyond the 80 minutes or so.

Unfortunately, the producing team failed to do just that and as a result, the entire film was a flop (I didn't buy this video, borrowed it from the library). Another unforgivable error was that while the book had been published in 1933, the film producers set it in 1970s-80s. Viewers can immediately sense the awkwardness, even those who had never read the book would feel it too. Crucial dialogues from the novel was thoroughly mutilated in the script or in the setting. It is not impossible to dramatise Christie's work on a low budget, some of her stories would have been just right, but this is not one of them.

Despite the unfaultable performances of the cast - Peter Ustinov, Faye Dunaway and Lee Horsley, the whole film was a disgrace, far from the fantastic work done by Peter Ustinov as Poirot in Death on the Nile and Evil Under The Sun. I suppose the cast regretted ever making this one, but it's the producers who ought to be shot.

4-0 out of 5 stars Has Dunaway Done Away with Her Husband?
Lady Edgeware (played by Faye Dunaway) is estranged from her husband and wants a divorce. If she can't have a divorce, she says she'll just have to kill him. Shortly after making this pronouncement, Lord Edgeware is murdered. Lord Edgeware's servants testify that Lady Edgeware drove up to the home in a cab, walked into Lord Edgeware's study, and left after a brief period of time in the study. Shortly afterward, the servants find Lord Edgeware dead in his study.

This is as true-to-life a murder scenario as ever came from the pen of Agatha Christie. In 27 years of prosecuting and defending murder cases, I've had several that followed this plotline.

But Christie isn't going to allow things to be that simple. It seems that twelve unimpeachable witnesses are all prepared to testify that Lady Edgeware was with them at a formal dinner at exactly the time of the murder. Poirot finally unravels the mystery, and in the denouement proves quite satisfying.

Peter Ustinov is an unlikely Poirot. He's too large, too unkempt, too greyheaded, and not nearly foppish enough. David Suchet, of the A&E series, has become the archetypical Poirot against whom all other Poirots must suffer in comparison. It is all the more amusing that in this show, Suchet plays an unconvincing and unsympathetic Chief Inspector Japp. It is a wonder how he could get Poirot so right and Japp so wrong. Faye Dunaway's characterization of Lady Edgeware is right on the money. She plays the part with gusto and is a delight to behold. Watching her, I could not help but remember her excellent portrayal of an affluent murder suspect on a "Columbo" episode from the 70's.

This made-for-TV movie suffers in comparison with the A&E series starring Suchet, but mediocre Poirot is far, far better than no Poirot at all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Apples and oranges
I will not dispute all of the negative reviews on this film. However that is like picking on someone for having red hair. This movie was not made or intended to be one of those beautiful epics with dazzling color and wide screen. It is a made for TV movie. It does follow the book closely. The few variations were probably due to time constraints in getting the information out. I have to admit I also was about to press the fast forward button. I do not think thy will ever try to put Poirot in the 80's again. What you missed was David Suchet playing Inspector Japp with the worst English accent I ever heard. So what is his real voice? And Faye Dunaway did not dominate every scene. The Colonel Hastings (Jonathan Cecil) was to pansy to be in any army I know. Still it had its moments; like when Hercule turned to Japp and said "Get used to the fact that wherever you go, it is on our way." And by the end of the movie you get over the initial shocks and can enjoy it for it's self. ... Read more

This sitcom anthology introduces viewers to the wacky world of the Partridge Family, the best-loved band of 1970s television. Widowed mom Shirley (Shirley Jones) agrees to quit her bank job and join her five musical kids in the show pilot "What? And Get Out of Show Business?" The band's optimistic harmony and catchy, bubble-gum spirit is introduced to Hollywood (and television viewers around the world) by none other than Johnny Cash. Although a bit rough around the edges, this first episode introduces teen idol Keith (David Cassidy), socially conscious Laurie (Susan Dey), and their manipulative preteen brother Danny (Danny Bonaduce), the capitalist mastermind who brings their garage recordings to reluctant record executive Reuben Kincaid (Dave Madden). Cute kids Chris (Jeremy Gelbwaks) and Tracy (Suzanne Crough) round out the history-making ensemble.

Future stars often passed through The Partridge Family, as witnessed in "Old Scrapmouth," an episode featuring a young Mark Hamill as Laurie's would-be suitor. Her love life, and a national TV spot for the band, is thrown into mayhem by a dentist's pronouncement that she needs braces. Rounding out the video is the show's final episode, "Anchors Aweigh." The suburban singing family seem slightly more mature, and quite a bit shaggier. George Chakiris (West Side Story's Bernardo) drops anchor and sweeps Shirley off her feet as a returning naval hero. But what Keith and Laurie try to bring together, can Danny tear asunder? The episode features Keith strutting out the funky number "Rollercoaster," and healthy helpings of poignant, poppy Partridge splendor. --Grant Balfour ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Point Me In The Direction Of Albuquerque
You just can't beat the Partridge Family. The lovable singing family was a big hit back in the 70's giving us teen idol David Cassidy as Keith. But, my favorite character was the irrascible Danny Bonaduce. Of course Shirley would have had to have several husbands to give birth to such a diverse group of kids. And, Chris made a remarkable transformation during the run of the show, but one brushed aside such matters and waited for the next great song as they went from concert to concert in their Mondrian-inspired bus. Kincaid was alot of fun as their manager. He and Danny played well off each other. I never could see the appeal in Susan Dey, but you get to see her in the spring of youth before going on to do such shows as LA Law. If ever there was a series crying out for a box set of DVD's or a Hollywood remake this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars "The Partridge Family Is The Best TV Show Ever!"
I liked "The Partridge Family Video Collection". The first three episodes are hilarious! In "What? And Get Out Of Show Business?",we see Shirley Partridge(Shirley Jones) as a mom to her five kids: 16-year-old Keith(David Cassidy),15-year-old Laurie(Susan Dey),10-year-old Danny(Danny Bonaduce),7-year-old Chris(Jeremy Gelbwaks) and 5-year-old Tracy(Suzanne Crough). They get a manager named Reuben Kincaid(David Madden) to help out.

In "Old Srapmouth" Laurie is convinced that she has to wear braces for six months. Mark Hamill of "The Star Wars Trilogy" guest stars as Lauries friend,Jerry.

And in "Anchors Aweigh",the last episode in the series,Shirley's boyfriend Chuck "Cuddles" Corwin(George Chakiris)drops by to meet Shirley, but Keith and Danny follow them on their date.

Partridge fact: The two theme songs you hear are both written by Wes Farrell: "When We're Singin'" was put in the series first season and "Come On,Get Happy" was put in the 2nd-4th season. The song "Together"("Havin' A Ball") was put in the credits in the pilot episode.

5-0 out of 5 stars "The Beginning Of The Partridge Family"
In "What? And Get Out Of Showbusiness?",we see how this 4-year adventure starts. There's 16-year-old Keith (David Cassidy),15-year-old Laurie(Susan Dey),10-year-old Danny (Danny Bonaduce),7-year-old Chris (Jeremy Gelbwaks),and 5-year-old Tracy (Suzanne Crough).Their mom (Shirley Jones) joins the band, along with manager Reuben Kincaid (Dave Madden).

In "Old Scrapmouth",Laurie gets braces, and doesn't want to talk or sing when the family goes on a TV show. Mark Hamill ("Star Wars") guest stars as Jerry.

And in "Anchors Aweigh",Shirley meets up with "Captain Cuddles", but Keith and Danny get suspicious about their mom going out. This was the shows final episode, which aired August 31,1974. The pilot episode debuted September 25,1970. The theme songs are "When We're Singin'" and "Come On,Get Happy". In the pilot episode, the theme song is "Together"("Havin' A Ball").

These are great episodes for the whole family to enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars "The Partridge Family Is GROOOOOOOOOOVY!"
"The Partridge Family" debuted on ABC on September 25,1970. It featured Shirley Jones as Shirley Partridge,David Cassidy as Keith,Susan Dey as Lauren "Laurie" Partridge, Danny Bonaduce as Daniel "Danny" Partridge,Jeremy Gelbwaks & Brian Forster as Christopher "Chris" Partridge,Suzanne Crough as Tracy Partridge, and Dave Madden as Reuben Kincaid.

I like both theme songs, but in the pilot episode "What? And Get Out Of Showbusiness?" the theme song was "tOGETHEr"("Havin' A Ball")

I suggest you add this to your collection,so you can celebrate "The Partridge Family" over and over again!

4-0 out of 5 stars VERY FUN TO WATCH AGAIN --
Although it would have been wonderful to have a cast member or two introduce and narrate these three videos, in their original form, they are plenty entertaining on their own. The first episode, which is actually quite funny, features two songs that have never been on any Partridge recording, and do not feature David Cassidy's voice. LET THE GOOD TIMES IN actually could have been a hit all on its own, and TOGETHER re-appeared a few times in the first season.

Up next is the classic episode revolving around Laurie's braces, and features an adorably young Mark Hamill, the boy would be Luke Skywalker. Again a mellow tune never on a Partridge album (Love Song) is the musical moment in this episode.

It is fun to watch the evolution of all cast members with the final episode of the final season. This episode features ROLLER COASTER, from the final studio album (Bulletin Board) by the musicians and vocalists who were The Partridge Family. The TV show really did have an acerbic wit at times, and the warm presence of Shirley Jones was a major asset. If you loved it then, you'll smile now -- and I think kids of any era would enjoy it on its own terms. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best show ever (first guy to laugh get's decked)
At a time when full season DVD's are coming out for shows as long lost as MASH and as unasked for as OZ there has to be a market for a full season DVD for Party of Five. Party of Five, in case you missed it, was about the orphaned Salinger clan, and all the various bruising they took out of life. The Wedding is from the first season, and it centers around Charlie who is about to marry Kirsten. Charlie being a man of a suspect reputation gets cold feet and the episode starts to revolve around whether or not he'll go through with taking his vows. The show also offers comedic relief as Julia (Neve Campbell) and her estranged boyfriend Justin get a little drunk off the reception's champagne and commence in one of the more unromantic scenerios one takes part in when losing their virginity. The sad thing is The Wedding is just a small token of everything Party of Five offered as a show. It was probably the best family drama ever produced as their struggles with relatively familar themes come off as real struggles. As opposed the way trite family dramas (See Providence, 7th Heaven, and anything regarded as a 'family' show on ABC) treat similar themes as a way to relay a rather sugar sweetened message with the biggest fireworks coming during sweeps month. Why should only sci-fi nerds get full season treats with items like the X-Files, Star Trek, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Why do we have to be subjected to HBO dishing full season DVD's of every show on their schedule? If their's a full season of Arliss available before Party of Five, I'm raising hell.

-->The negative aspects:

-->The positive aspects:

Still it had its moments; like when Hercule turned to Japp and said "Get used to the fact that wherever you go, it is on our way." And by the end of the movie you get over the initial shocks and can enjoy it for it's self. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Last good show in the series.
One of the Best Episode of the series. It's a heat felt tear jerker that Pretty much defines the essence of this Once Great series. The reason I say once is because pretty much after this episode; the show literally goes down the drain. The quality that had made this show is replaced with sensationalism and exploitation. Going as far as to degrade woman, abuse victims, and homosexuals all for the sake of ratings. Even the actors spoke out on how bad the show had gotten, and could not waited to leave the show. Do yourself a favor, and remember this show for what it was, not for what it had became. Pick up this video, and relive the real Party Of Five, Not the Party of Five The writers and producers had sold out for the sake of ratings

The most musical family on TV piles into their kaleidoscopic tour busand coasts across the soundscape of the 1970s once again in these three star-studded episodes. In "Knight in Shining Armor," dreamy teen heartthrob Bobby Sherman invades the Partridges' garage studio with a sound all his own. His quest for the right lyricist leads the crew to a sweet but offbeat hero in this surprisingly heartwarming story--which led to its own spinoff, the short-lived Getting Together. Next, the family raises a stink in a high-society hotel after the bus is visited by a nosy skunk in "But the Memory Lingers On." The comedy of manners and musk is played out to the strains of their first hit single, "I Think I Love You." And finally, in "The Eleven Year Itch," Danny plunges into the perplexities and pitfalls of puppy love with a preteen Jodie Foster. He's coached by Keith, but gets solid pointers from a macho Bert Convy...as he makes his own moves on Danny's mom! Guaranteed nostalgic fun for fans of the silly, sexy '70s. --Grant Balfour ... The Partridges are back in three great episodes. In "A Knight In Shining Armor",teen idol Bobby Sherman drops by to greet the Partridges in this season finale in the 1st season which marked Jeremy Gelbwaks' final appearance as Chris.

"But The Memory Lingers On" has the Partridges encountered by a skunk. One of Danny Bonaduce's favorites. And in "The Eleven Year Old Itch",Danny has a crush on Julie (played by former kid actress Jodie Foster). This set of episodes is for any Partridge fan in the family.

I just wanted to write a quick note to advise anyone buying this video looking for the episode featuring "I Think I Love You". There were apparently 2 episodes with this song. TV's favorite singing family hits the road and tops the charts onceagain with this video collection, highlighting guest appearances by the brightest stars of the 1960s, '70s, and beyond in three different episodes. "Soul Club" features Richard Pryor and an Afro-ed Louis Gossett Jr. as dashiki-clad Detroiters desperate to save their community club from a predatory loan shark. The plucky Partridges, of course, manage to save the day by filling in for absent Motown heroes the Temptations. There's dancing in the streets as Keith does his "Afro thing" and young Danny dons a beret as a member of the "Afro-American Cultural Society." In "A Man Called Snake," an alarmingly convincing Rob Reiner plays a softhearted biker who develops a crush on Laurie after Keith gives a misleading interview. Can the boys save their sister from Snake's affections...and does she really want to be saved? Finally, "I Left My Heart in Cincinnati" features brunette bombshell Mary Ann Mobley as an amusement park PR rep who unleashes an avalanche of puppy love from all the Partridge men...especially roller-coaster phobic Keith. This one features two full musical performances (eat your heart out, MTV!) and cameos by baseball legend Johnny Bench and the Banana Splits. --Grant Balfour ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fight da Powa!!! White bread style.
What up. Richard Pryor be 'bout to lose his club to da homies on Detroit's Sout Side. What be him to do? Get the Temptations to play da club and be happy. Right? Hells no. Temps ain't comin. Now what?

Leave all your worries and anxieties behind. Lil ol' Danny Partridge will solve everythang. Sheet, he coulda ended the war in 'Nam if dey let him in Wash-town.

Da Partridge family save the club in a very realistic way. Dey play their white bread music at a 70's Detroit block party to raise money. Who be wantin' the Temptations after a dose of Danny who strums a bass like a guitar?

Everything ends happy. Danny becomes an honorary member of the Black Panthers and the young militant gets on the bus sporting his new black beret to the shock of his family.

Right on brutha. Solid. Dyno-mite.

This sitcom collection features a double dose of 1970s TV fun--withthree episodes featuring the Partridge family singers acting alongside the sexy stars of Charlie's Angels. In "The Sound of Money," a cagey con artist (played by M*A*S*H's Colonel Potter, Harry Morgan) tries suing the family for bumping his Studebaker. Conniving Danny and Mr. Kincaid enlist blonde goddess Farrah Fawcett to help trap him, while the rest of the family take a different tack and decide to kill the con with kindness. Voluptuous Jaclyn Smith throws a curve at the suspicious siblings in "When Mother Gets Married." Desperate for a date, single mom Shirley has to fight off the demons of middle age and the depredations of her offspring when an old friend comes to town. Even freethinking Laurie's well-meaning advice does little more than contribute to the madcap romantic chaos! Finally, cute and cuddly Keith faces "Double Trouble" when he lands two dates to the same beach party. The true object of his affections, a fickle Cheryl Ladd (credited as Cheryl Stoppelmoor), has a panicky Keith mastering his romantic moves, which of course backfire hilariously. 4-0 out of 5 stars Michael Biehn makes for a good psychotic villian
Michael Biehn upstages the good guys as a psychotic killer who befriends two rich boys for reasons other then friendship. Eventually, he is rooted out for who he is, but not before he piles on a body count at the boys' expense.

MB plays a wonderfully psychotic villian in this film, second only (and, at that, debatably) to Travolta's character in "Broken Arrow." He steals the show in an otherwise by-the-numbers movie. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "Get Happy With The Partridges"
In these six fun-filled episodes of "The Partridge Family",you'll find music and fun! In "What? And Get Out Of Showbusiness",you'll see how the Partridges got their start into the music business. In "Old Scrapmouth",Laurie gets braces and doesnt want to open her mouth. Mark Hamill guest stars in this episode. In "Anchors Aweigh!",Shirley meets her high school sweetheart "Captain Cuddles" Corwin. This was the 96th,and last episode for the Partridges. In "A Knight In Shining Armor",teen idol Bobby Sherman drops by on the Partridges. This spawned the series "Getting Together". In "But The Memory Lingers On", The Partridges get sprayed by a skunk who stoiws away on their bus. And in "The Eleven Year Old Itch",Jodie Foster has a crush on Danny, but things turn ugly.

In both videos, you'll hear the first 2 theme songs: "When We're Singin'",and "Come On,Get Happy",althogh in the pilot episode, it's "Together".

5-0 out of 5 stars At Last! A little bit of good old fashioned tv fun on tape.
I was VERY young when my sister was watching these episodes, first run, on television, and for reasons unknown to me, they had stuck with me.

Watching these six episodes again, as an adult, reminded me of how fun, and easy it was in the past to watch and enjoy television!

Granted, the first episode in the series is a little stiff, and does not have the cohesive quality the "family" has in later episodes, but it is truly a must have for true Partridge Family collectors, and casual viewers alike. If you haven't already fallen for the possibility that the perfect mom exists, you will find it in Shirley Partridge.

This two video pack includes the problems with Laurie's braces (guest star-to-be, Mark Hamill), the problems with "Mom" on a date with a Navy officer, the problem with a musically talented intruder (Bobby Sherman), the problem with a skunk on the bus (the episode that spawned the hit, "I Think I Love You"), and finally the problem with an 11 year old girl (a very tom-boyish Jodie Foster), and her crush on Danny. Whew! A lot of problems, and only in six episodes! But, man, what fun those problems are, and what great music that is woven in between them all.

Warning: if you are looking for a chronological set of released episodes, THIS IS NOT IT. It is but a teasing sample, of the fun, warmth, humour, music, and family trials and triumphs that this show shared with us. A gem of a find, especially for us dyed-in-the-wool Partridge Family Fans.

If this is your first visit with the Partridge Family, take a chance...."Let the Sunshine In," and "C'mon Get Happy" with the Partridges (the two songs on the Pilot episode.)

For the rest of us, sit back, and remember the fun. (Oh, and trying to watch this "presented in CBS color" show on a black and white 14 inch TV, with a 2 inch mono speaker. Ah, those were the days...) ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars ¡Ay! No se puede comprarla sin subtítulos.
When watching this TV movie, there are blackouts and long pauses between scenes, and the film's heavy hands are so laden with corn that one feels cheated out of the commercials. DA and GCS are dragged through syndicated citcom leftovers in a plot that every viewer knows before watching. Minimal elderly hijinx ensue, and the life's lesson is regurgitated shamelessly. Scott's cliched veediot "mother", a slapstickily inept hitman, and an inexplicable/unexplained mute punk girl provide the gratuitous sideplots. In short, anyone who would like to own this movie should already have taped it of the tele. Lo siento.

Certainty's colored hair and brash style delight Fern, but irritate Mr. Stobbs creating a delightful, emotionally charged challenge between Mr. Stobbs and Certainty.

As is often the case when money enters the picture, discontentment sets in as Mr. Riddle becomes disillusioned with the new life style. Sadness enters the picture as this lifelong friendship is put to the test.
