5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun
This is a fun, fast paced, and exciting anime. It is almost as good as Iria:Zeiram the Animation. Buy it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Silly and Fun
The Sol Bianca is a interdimensional starship controlled by several female pirates. The women (and girl) are a little too contrived (they each have totally distinct personalities that separate them from each other--nothing in common), but the action is there and the anime is fairly good.

The Sol Bianca and her crew have been raiding the pirate ships of Emporor Batros (typical space-anime name). In one of the raids, they find a small boy who has to get to one of the planets he rules to find his mother. He promises them that the emporor holds a treasure that has the secret of the human race as well as gold, jewels and cash. They jump at the situation.

The emporor wants the Sol Bianca because it has a technology to go into subspace without a need for a hypergate, so the battle begins.

If you are looking for the adult version of POWERPUFF Girls, try this one out. However, I do not think it is worth the money to buy it. Rating: C

4-0 out of 5 stars Highly enjoyable!
I enjoyed this movie quite a bit, although there are some fairly large plot holes. Why does Rim's presence on board keep the ship from jumping into hyperspace? Where did the ship get that cool supercannon it used in the end? And how did the pirates fly safely back to the shuttle with half the Tres airforce on their tail? These problems notwithstanding, it was fun light watching with some really sharp animation. Among my favorite effects are the Sol Bianca submerging and reemerging from hyperspace, and Feb perched on the orbital ring, firing at the surface with a sniper rifle (well, she said it was designed for long range. . . .)

The music ranges from unremarkable to cheesy, mostly showing up only in the fight scenes. You'll probably never even notice that it has music, and skipping it would detract little from the movie.

One of my favorite parts of the movie is the characterization of the pirates. They are definitely self interested pirates, far more interested in plundering space lines than saving the world. While not particularly ruthless (they don't kill too many people in their raids,) they are most definitely pirates, and only heroic in comparison to truly evil people. For example they are more than happy to threaten Rim with spacing out the airlock if he doesn't volunteer more information about his presence on their ship. The quarrel and argue in a very convincing (if occasionally overly cute) way, they manage to fall somewhere between Errol Flynn's "Robin Hood" and Long John Silver.

I'm curious about the name of their ship: "Sol Bianca." The planet names are Spanish (Tres: Three, Uno: One,) so the ship name could also be Spanish, but I can't find a meaning for "Bianca" in any language, other than it being a girl's name. If you spell it "Sol Blanco," it translates as "White Sun," which is not only appropriate for a white ship, but a cool name in any case.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Girl Power
This animation is very entertaining and original, straight from the start, the nature of the heroines objective is clear! Superb animation, great story line, a must for all action fans of animation. The only let down is the statement in small letters on the box which can put some people off. Contains "brief nudity" but their isn't any, only from the trailer for another film? This is a must see animation for die-hard fans!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice anim. Almost a must have.
It's about 60 min of animated movie. The hi-tech starship Sol Bianca and its complement of five beautiful girls is used for space piracy. In this movie, the search for a treasure called the Gnosis leads them into a conflict involving a two planet empire and the final confrontation between Emperor Batros and the rebelion on planet Uno.

At first glance I thought those girls would be ruthless and cold blooded. Those characters are somehow charmy, tough but not heartless, and not as tough as the character Taarna in "Heavy Metal" the movie. The story is simple, not a deep drama as you may see in "Ninja Scroll" or "Wings of Honneamise", but it is entertaining. The story quality in my opinion is far superior when compared with the commercial-common-place story of "Street Fighter II".

The animation work is impressive, a clean style is used, tech designs are very tasty. There is some action and background music is not widely used.

One of my concerns was the level of violence contained because there is a legend on the cassette "Contains graphic violence, brief nudity and mature language". I must say that this movie has a couple of short violent moments. About nudity... well, I think "Sailor moon" has more nudity. Perhaps this warning is refered to the previews included before the motion picture. And there is mature language.

The subtitled in english version includes a bonus video portfolio where the sketches used for this movie are shown.

All in all, this is a nice and entertaining action anime with beautiful girls and stunning animations. If don't go for the drama this is an almost-must-have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars PLEASE RE-RELEASE THIS VIDEO
This is the best movie ever, please re-release it for all its fans!!!! Can anyone tell me where to get more Thundercat movies

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Episode
Fireballs of Plun-Darr is without a doubt one of the best episodes of the Thundercats TV show. Apart from a few frames of really junky animation there are many of great detail. Fireballs also is a very suspenseful episode. It was one that was fun to watch with enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat.

5-0 out of 5 stars this was and still is my favorite cartoon
i already own this title i was browsing amazone to see if they had one that i didn't have. When i watched the episodes on tv i memorized the titles i want a particular title but amazone don't have it yet, probally because it is not released yet, i hope it is released soon meanwhile i keep checking back every now and then untit i find it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just as wonderful now as they were 14 years ago!!!!
I wish I could get my hands on more Thundercats videos. They are exceedingly hard to find, and I know others want them too. I became hooked on the Thundercats in high school and have loved them ever since. Perhaps the studio will release the videos if they sense a demand for them.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is the best cartoon ever made and this is a fantastic

5-0 out of 5 stars Maybe they'll import this to U.S. television?
I was expecting a spoof on Sailor Moon and it was even better than that.If you know a little Japanees and you're an Anime fan, you'll see some interesting stuff from the begining. If you are a Tenchi fan you'll see some familiar faces playing diferent parts.(Anime characters treated like actors? Good idea! ) Sasami is Tenchi's little sister in this adventure and the writers made her sound and act like all the little sisters I've known.Tenchi,Ryoko and Ayeka are along for commic relief and Washu,Kiyone'n'Mihoshi play stock character parts. Tsunami enlists Sasami to spread love and peace on earth as Pretty Sammy but the fun starts before then. This is a good video if you like light hearted adventures and you're looking for a break from little Mon-sters.Your kids will even like it.^_- You better hurry I don't know if Pioneer is going to reissue this video.(Damn shame if they don't.)Trying to find a copy of MGPS 2&3 is an adventure in itself. ~_~

3-0 out of 5 stars Of the Pretty Sammy series, not the best, but...
(I assume this is vol. I of the Pretty Sammy movies. The cover shown is of volume 1, but Amazon has "vol. 3" listed... for this video and the real volume 3) Of the three movies based on the Tenchi spin-off series Magical Project S, this one is probably the worst. The reason why Tsunami enlists Sammy as her champion, and what exactly Tsunami's rival Rumia is up to, is not clear (in fact, you'd have to watch the OVA series in order to understand: In order for Tsunami to become queen of the magical kingdom, her champion must promote so-much goodwill on Earth. If Rumia foils Tsunami's champion, Rumia will become queen instead), and the voice casting for Sammy's best friend Misao and Pixy Misa is a bit annoying; Pixy Misa's Valley Girl accent in the other two specials is much more fitting, and Misao sounds much older than a 9 year old. However, this is most definatly a fun anime to watch. It is filled with the witty tongue-in-cheek humor Tenchi fans have come to expect, and even those who are not familiar with the Tenchi series will get a kick out of the somewhat newly developed characters. All in all, a worthwhile investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars pretty sammy
1st this is really vol.1. i have all 3 of the pretty sammy vidos and vol.3 is pretty sammy 3 super kiss at least thats what it say on the cover.well it starts off you see tsunami is the 1st canadent for queen and ramia is the 2end.well before tsunami can become queen she has to pick a person to do good deeds on earth and thats were sasaim comes in tsumami picks her. so sasimi or pretty sammy has to do a number of deeds before sasami can become the queen and i think i rember ramia saying not in this vido but anther that if tsunami becoms queen then sasami well be the 2end canadent but i dont know. so rami decids to make a migical girl of her own. she picks sasami best friend misao.but when misao changes over her own free will she cant rember enthing. its like misao blacks out and pixy misa is born. so its not misaos fault for what pixy misa does--k. well misa is causeing trouble for sammy its just anther problem in sasamis life. o theres also rryo-ohki sasamis parter u proble know ryo-ohki form tenchi but in the pretty sammy series he can talk. thats anther thing in tench series ryo-ohki is a girl but in pretty sammy ryo-ohkis a boy. well its a great movie so order it

5-0 out of 5 stars Sasami kawaii
Sasami finally has her own show it's not copying sailor moon in my opion. the storyline is a bit different than tenchi universe sasami and tenchi are sister and brother sasami and tenchi both have a different mother. kiyone and mihoshi work at a cd shop insted od galaxcy police. aeka is not i repeat not the princess of jurai. washu is a girl who's parents left her.ryoko a delinkwent (of corse) plus they interduse a new charater "misao" aka "pixy misa". tsnami and sasami are not the same person. tsami is a canadite for being the qween of juraihill. ramia who is tsami's rival is jevlos so she made misao turn into pixy misa to get into pretty sammy way. the whole thing is get i recomend this tape and Magical project s which is a longer subtitled verson of this.

1-0 out of 5 stars Prepare for a ranting! (sorry, I a HUGE Tenchi fan, buuuut)
This is just a *gag* sailor moon runoff! Sorry, But I don't find little barbie doll-like, mini skirt, high heel warening sissy girls runin around with some kinda LOVE *cough cough* magic or sumpin'. Okay I admit. I've only seen pretty Sammy once on toonami, but Once is anough! What happen to the butt kickin' action of Ryoko, Tenchi, or even Aeka ( i can't beleive I'm sayin' this) Hey, I'ma agirl, and I can understand some femine hero stuff, but not when the heroines are wearin' skirts and heels. What if the enemy's a guy? He just say whoops and lift up her wittle skirt and she'd start screamin' and runa way. Ooooookkkkay. I done whoooo that felt good (sorry sailormoon fans, just statin' the facts. Flame me ifya wanna.) :) :p ... Read more

I love the thunder cats!! I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it only has one episode instead of two. In this Episode: "Panthro is spreading destruction across Third Earth. Good ol' Panthro?!? Well, it's not really him... but a deadly clone Mumm-Ra has created. But where's the real McCoy? Trapped in the Bottomless Chasm, Panthro soon has to face "himself" in a battle to the death!" I highly recommend you buy this video and others if you can. 5-0 out of 5 stars 80's cyberpunk rock video mecha girl classic
Future post-earthquake Tokyo has all-powerful corporation Genom taking complete control, were it not for interference from a vigilante mercenary super hero girl group called the "Knight sabers".

This is one of the best anime series projecting beautiful, sexy women in a non-degrading way. The Knight Sabers leader (Dr. Stingray) is a super-genius who designed (and keeps improving) the hard suits which are the only thing that can defeat Genom's android fighting units. Anime pinup idol Priss, the toughest one, is as daring on a motorcycle as she is beautiful. Linna is a great athlete while Nene is a computer hacker. Inter-personal relationships between these 4 are done really well.

There are lots of fighting scenes for those into that, but the story is really about the state of society (a possible future for us) and why the girls put their buts on the line and try to change what they can.

The music is like what MTV used to play, back when they actually played music videos. Those really into this (Or fans needing to see more of the Knight Sabers in action) will love the "Hurricane Live" bonus DVD. Kind of nostalgic, but not obnoxious as some 80's revival stuff tends to be.

Overall this MegaSeries is a great value with all 8 "OAV" episodes in this box set. The animation is a bit dated compared with more recent releases, but the story line is still better than most recent releases.

Anime doesn't get much better than this. A must for "best of class" collectors. (Word on the 'net is that this OAV series is superior to later derivatives).

5-0 out of 5 stars Must-have '80s Anime!!!
This DVD presents the first three episodes of the Bubblegum Crisis series. The first episode presents the post-earthquake world of MegaTokyo in 2032, with Genom Corporation's Boomers wreaking havoc in the city, and a band of four women (the Knight Sabers) in hardsuits protecting the innocents. The second episdoe focuses on one of the women, Linna, and a close friend who is targeted by a Genom executive. In the final episode, the conflict between Genom and the Knight Sabers escalates.

The series, inspired by Blade Runner and itself a tremendous influence on following anime, is full of fast-paced action and incredible music. This DVD provides anime newcomers with an excellent introduction to the world of anime.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT
This is one of the pioneering shows of Anime! I remember shelling out $35 to $40 for ONE tape! Blech..what a rip off! But it got me hooked on the "Knight Sabers"! This show is fun and shows it's age with the clothes they wear etc but is a GREAT show and is the BEST in the series. If you are a fan buy THIS edition, the casing is junky as its a big clunky box with plain ol jewel cases etc but its well worth the price alone for fans of the show. The characters were done very well in this show amidst some sillyness, but not as silly as the new show 2040.

5-0 out of 5 stars Blade Runner Anime Style
Takes place in the same universe "Bubblegum Crisis", but before Knight Sabers existed. Robots called Boomers, look just like humans, are very intelligent and work in the cities for the humans doing a variety of tasks such as construction, cleaning and even sexual services. Sometimes these robots malfunctioned and ended up killing innocent people. The A.D. Police force was created to destroy malfunctioning boomers. What I liked about this series was the good quality of animation, action, sound fx, and tense story telling, it has all the makings of a great anime. With its futuristic cities and noire over-tone it has a similar look and feel like the movie, Blade Runner. The Boomers are robots that look and act like humans; they are like the Replicants. In a way, the A.D. Police are like Blade Runners. I also enjoyed this anime because the cop, 'Leon' is a good character, and I always wanted some background on him. Blood and gore, nudity, for adults only. Each episode is self contained so you can watch any of them and not feel lost in the story. Ends on 3 then connects with the anime Bubblegum Crisis 2030

5-0 out of 5 stars I want my bubbleguMTV
As you should know, most of J-pop and MTV music video are worthless. Then, how surprising that Hurricane Live, which features songs in music video format with images culled from the series Bubblegum Crisis, comprises some of the best pop songs and cool visuals ever.
For admirers of Bubblegum Crisis it's a well-known fact that the series is great on many levels, not least in its musical department. Songs range from hard rock to love ballads, from catchy pop tunes to elegiac lamentations. Also, the singer for the first Hurricane Set, Omori Kinuko, had a truly rare quality, almost extinct in today's pop music culture: a quality simultaneously tough and vulnerable, fierce and gentle.
Songs like Mad Machine are as thoughtful and complex in laying out sci-fi themes of technology out of hand; other songs are about being lonely in a faceless crowd, the irrepressible life spirit, the romance of rebellion, sad love for a lost friend, the power to overcome hopelessness and face the new day.
Comparable to Beatles' Rubber Soul, Stone's Between the Buttons, and Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. ... Read more

Comparable to Beatles' Rubber Soul, Stone's Between the Buttons, and Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best cartoon ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!
When their world Thundra is destroyed, the population leaves in spaceships to a new world. Because of a battle with their mortal enemies of the planet Plundar, the only ship that makes it through is that of the nobles, the Thundercats. Due to the damage from the battle they must choose a new world to carry on the legacy of Thundra, a familar planet called Third Earth.
Man I loved this show as a kid! The writting was first rate and.. the memories, I had every toy there was.
But did you ever wonder why Lion-O grew into adulthood during their voyage but Willy Kitt and Katt did not? And why didn't the others grow older like Jaga did?
I don't really want an answer, but I can wonder.
And another thing, I guess that Jaga is supposed to be a jaguar(like Lion-o is a lion and Panthro is a panther etc..) but did you ever notice that he was the only Thundercat that didn't look like a cat at all?

5-0 out of 5 stars Where the Legend is Born
This is where it all begins, Thundercats: Exodus. First off, Thundercats was probably the greatest cartoon ever made. This episode has it all, a rich mixture of fantasy, sci-fi, action and of course a taste of drama. If you can find this anywhere, buy it. As a matter of fact, if you can find any Thundercat episodes, buy them!!! would be great to see them on DVD some day.

5-0 out of 5 stars From Boy To Man
This is the episode that is a tale of how wise Jaga helps his loyal ThunderCats find a new home after thier beloved Thundera explodes. This is the first episode in which we meet and become familiar with a great bunch of characters. In this episode, we meet a young boy named Lion-O and he must quickly learn how to become a great leader. You start to feel worried about him because he looses his home, his mentor, {Jaga} and evil Mutants want to destroy him. He has great friends and allies though. Panthro, Tygra, the Wylli Kids, Cheetara, and a loyal nursemaid Snarf will help young Lion-O grow into the Lord of the Thundercats. We also get to see the power of the "Eye of Thundera" which is the ThunderCat's power source. Join in the adventures of the Thundercats....

Why, you ask?

Because the're loose!!!!!!!!! ... Read more
