James Bond's fourth adventure takes him to the Bahamas, where a NATO warplane with a nuclear payload has disappeared into the sea. Bond (Sean Connery) travels from a tony health spa (where he tangles with a mechanized masseuse run amuck) to the casinos of Nassau and soon picks up the trail of SPECTRE's number-two man, Emilio Largo (Adolfo Celi), and his beautiful mistress, Domino (Claudine Auger), whom Bond soon seduces to his side. Equipped with more gadgets than ever, courtesy of the resourceful "Q" (Desmond Llewelyn), agent 007 escapes an ambush with a personal-size jet pack and takes to the water as he searches for the undersea plane, battles Largo's pet sharks, and finally leads the battle against Largo's scuba-equipped henchmen in a spectacular underwater climax. This thrilling Bond entry became Connery's most successful outing in the series and was remade in 1983 as Never Say Never Again, with Connery returning to the role after a 12-year hiatus. Tom Jones belts out the bold theme song to another classic Maurice Binder title sequence. --Sean Axmaker ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Own on DVD
Explosive action, stunning locales, a tight plot and Sean Connery's most convincing turn as the world's favorite spy make Thunderball one of the finest-- if not the finest -- entries in the James Bond film series. Add to that a DVD package chock full of dynamic extras such as "behind the scenes" documentaries and two highly informative audio commentaries and you've got yourself a must own movie.

The most visually stunning of all Bond films, Thunderball's sheer cinematic beauty comes glistening through on the remastered DVD print. The light, tropical hues of The Bahamas radiate like never before and the vast scope of the dazzling underwater scenes are fully appreciated on the widescreen transfer. Having personally viewed this Bond classic at least 200 times on standard video, I felt as though I was seeing it for the first time via widescreen DVD.

The plot involves Emilio Largo(Adolfo Celi) as sinister SPECTRE baddie #2 who threatens to nuke Miami unless paid a hefty ransom by the British government and NATO. Of course, Bond has just four days in which to save the world -- four days filled with such distractions as an array of willing women, killer sharks, and exploding cars and boats!

Celi is absolutely captivating as Largo, the eye-patched criminal mastermind. Deliberate and understated, Largo catches on to Bond, and his intent, early on. The ensuing cat and mouse chase begins cordially before turning deadly. The pursuit of Bond through the Junkanoo Parade in the streets of Nausau is positively nerve-wracking. Ditto a pair of horrific scenes in Largo's swimming pool which convieniently doubles as a deadly shark tank.

Italian actress Luciana Paluzzi nearly steals the show as Fiona Volpe a femme fatale killer who yearns for Bond in more than one way. Paluzzi lights up the screen, oozing equal parts temptation and evil.

Former Miss France, Claudine Auger turns in a fine performance as Bond's main love interest Domino. The fact the Domino just happens to be Largo's mistress doesn't stop our favorite super-spy from pursuing her.

Rik Van Nutter's portrayal of CIA operative Felix Leiter is perhaps the series' finest. Of course, Moneypenny, Q and M all flawlessly reprise their respective roles.

A perfect blend of From Russia with Love's suspense and Goldfinger's fun-filled explosiveness, Thunderball is undoubtedly one of the best Bond films. MGM did a great job on the DVD, thus making Thunderball a necessary addition to every Bond fan's collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Connery at His Unadulterated Best on DVD
Double entendres abound in this aquatic tale of intrigue, action and adventure 007 style. And make no mistake about it; Sean Connery makes this his picture. This may not have the narrative flow of a "Goldfinger" but Connery's confident and energetic performance and the villain's well-laid out caper makes this one of the most entertaining, realistic and tongue-in-cheek films in the series. This film was made at the pinnacle of the James Bond phenomenon and it shows. No cost was too great. This movie is big and it looks and feels big in every way. The underwater bellicose -ballet is one of the best pieces of action ever put on film thanks to Lamar Boren's colorful and beautiful photography and John Barry's original, innovative and intuitive scoring. The opening fight scene between Bond and Jacques Boitier in the chateau is one the best choreographed and edited of the series. What really makes this film is the dialogue. Connery's one-liners, his banter with Adolfo Celi as Emilio Largo and Luciana Paluzzi as Fiona Volpe and his delivery is brimming with aplomb, wit, humor and confidence all rolled into one. Claudine Auger, Molly Peters, Luciana Paluzzi and Martine Beswick are the ultimate 'Bond Girls.' Production designer Ken Adam, Art design Peter Murton, Cinematographer Ted Moore, Special effects expert John Stears, Editor Peter Hunt, Composer John Barry, Screenwriter Richard Maibaum and Director Terence Young make this one of the best Bond films of the series. Bernard Lee as "M," Lois Maxwell as Moneypenny and Desmond Llewelyn as "Q" all give their best performances. One of the best looking Bond films! It sounds better than ever in Dolby Digital 5.1 sound!

5-0 out of 5 stars The second best film of Bond series
Thunderball is a feast eye. Visually stunnig with advanced and ingenious twist and ideas.
The presence of Adolfo Celi as Emilio Largo and one of the most beautiful Bond's girls - Claudine Auger , are winners components.
The unforgettable submarine fight deserved for this film won Best special effects . And from its release became in a classic sequence.
Funny and plenty of chases , sharks and arresting locations.
After Goldfinger , this could be the most clever and kinetic movie of Bond series.

5-0 out of 5 stars THUNDERBALL = Best Bond Movie
This movie is Awesome. The story is the best and score is fantastic. Sean Connery gives one of his best performances as James Bond along with everyone else in the film. This is truly one of my favourite movies ever and I've only become a mega fan this past year. Make your life better and get this along with every other James Bond film!

3-0 out of 5 stars borderline classic, borderline franchise popcorn
this is the pivotal bond film because it has enough of the same qualitites that rank it nearly alongside dr no, from russia with love and goldfinger.
but, it also has enough hints of the rot that is you only live twice and diamonds are forever that follows.
the first three bond films can actually be considered good films period and not necessarily 'franchise films'.
thunderball truly is the beginning of the franchise that will become furmulaic popcorn with the next one and that was too bad,
and connery, wisely, knew this himself. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kleenex required
"Uptown Girls" is a sentimental movie that you won't be able to forget. At the end, I desperately wanted to give a standing ovation to the characters on screen, some of whom were already giving a standing ovation.
Molly Gunn is a wealthy debutante still trying to get over her parents' death. When she goes into debt, she is forced to find a job. Molly becomes the nanny of "Ray" Schleine, a precocious 8-year-old girl who hides behind a mask to deal with her apathetic mother and comatose father. The two help each other to open up.
This movie has a good amount of humor, but it is not without moments that will make you bawl.
Brittany Murphy, despite not being as enjoyable as she was in "Just Married," is fun to watch as Molly. Dakota Fanning is very good as Ray, though she seems to lack Murphy's magic.
See this movie! Just don't forget the Kleenex.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dakota Shines - But The Movie Overall - Is Not as Bright!
This movie directed by Boaz Yakin (Fresh, Remember The Titans) has a certain charm to it. It was going for the warm fuzzy's and along the way found a real heart for me.

Cocky and not-so-bright Britney Murphy (Just Married, 8-Mile) plays a aristocratic well to do teen who suddenly looses what she ahs to find out she needs to get a real job. In her attempt she is befriended by a mother played by Heather Locklear (Looney Toons Back In Action, The First Wives Club) who needs a caretaker - babysitter for her young daughter played by Dakota Fanning (I Am Sam, The Cat In The Hat).

The two teach each other a valuable lesson about life. One - Brittany needs to lean how to grow up, the other - Dakota - needs how to learn to have fun. The two are forced to tolerate each other in order to appease the mother. However, in the process of hating each other, they learn a lesion in family friendship and that people are not what they seem to be on the outside.

That's the warm fuzzy! Really nice heart - it does get a little slow in parts, but the chemistry of little Dakota with everyone on screen is amazing. You can't help not liking her even after she plays this temperamental little brat.

As far as the theatrical experience, a good film for the teens and young adults but it is not really for the really young or middle aged crowd - it does have a syrupy side that may give some a tooth ache. This would be a great DVD to have for the family. Let me know what you think. (11-12-03)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Everything In One Movie!
This movie was great! It had a little bit of everything in it!!! It had romance, comedy, drama, and a life lesson in it. I am 13 and watched it with my 39 year old mom and we both loved it! It is the best movie EVER. My dad didn't like it, but he doesn't like chick flicks! LOL! <br /> THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Uptown Girls
Uptown Girls DVD ~ Brittany Murphy is a sweet, innocent and funny comedy. It won't win any oscar statues for its dialogue. But I liked it still...

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow ~ totally different from what I expected
Here you will find a nine year old Ray helping her 20 something nanny Molly find her way. Ray is a nine year older who has everything a little girl could have want and most anything money can buy. But, she has a mother who doesn't have time for her and a father who is deathly ill. Molly gives Ray that one thing she's looking for LOVE and UNDERSTANDING. She also teaches Ray to be a KID that she should be. Ray helps Molly come to grips with some issues she's been fighting since the death of her father who was a great musician. The two were an awesome pair and meant to cross paths.

This movie will make you laugh, cry and more! Very refreshing movie and a must have. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars "Welcome to my Nightmare"
Freddy Vs. Jason started out on a fairly ok note. It brought back that old 80s horror movie feeling. The setup of Jason and Freddy fighting each other is very clever and an imaginitive idea. The acting is well-delivered from some of the actors, but there are lots of flaws in this movie: 1. It is not horror! It is simply not suspenseful, only includes a few genuinely scary moments, and focuses WAY too much on blood and gore instead of thrills and chills. 2. It is a self-parody, instead of a truly original piece of work. The movie is obviously supposed to spoof Freddy and Jason's routes, but couldn't they have thought of more original ways to do it? 3. Typical characters, with not a whole lot of psychological depth. When I watch a movie, any kind of movie, I like to be intrigued with the characters because of their psychological depth and their problems in life, their ups and downs. But, from what I recall, these characters are basically derived from the old 80s slasher movies. 4. The reslotion could've been a little bit more shocking and mysterious. 5. Unbelievable. A movie is only scary when it's believable, and this is just way too over-the top.
All in all, this movie is somewhat entertaining, and it is what I expected: A silly self-parody action film, instead of what it should be: A true horror classic. If you want horror, I suggest you see the original "Nightmare on Elm Street" (still ubelievable, and too gory, but much scarier) or "Friday the Thirteenth" (Which is somewhat scary), or even "Scream" (A clever self-parody that mixes comedy and genuinely scary moments) or "The Silence of the Lambs" (Terrifying and haunting). The list of smart horror movies goes on, and this movie, in my own personal opinion, is not an addition to that list. The fact that this ridiculous movie could be made and brought to screen and actually praised by so many should be saddening to me, since I am a young movie-maker. But, it's not. It's inspiring. If THIS can be praised, then the movie I'm making should be praised! If THIS could be made, there are a lot of things that could be made. Still, don't get your hopes up, filmakers out there. It's not as easy as it may seem.

4-0 out of 5 stars CLASH OF THE TERROR TITANS!!!
It was inevitable. Two of the biggest horror icons of our time finally meet in a terrifying clash that will satisfy fans of both title characters. In this modern Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man, Freddy is trapped in hell, his once fearsome name all but forgotten completely. He ressurrects Jason to kill a few kids on Elm Street so people will start to fear that Freddy is back: thus giving Freddy the power to return. However, Jason goes wild, and isn't leaving Freddy his share of victims. So, Freddy drags Jason to the dream world for a duel to the "death". The second battle takes place at Crysal Lake, giving each monster a home-court advantage. Both are evenly matched; the real advantage depends on where they fight.
This was a fun movie to watch. The fights are great, and there are plenty of scares. Enjoy, and welcome to MY NIGHTMARE!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool as heck!!!
I TOTALLY love this movie. I think it just rocks. If you like scary action packed movies, you will just love this one. so
please, please, please, buy it...

4-0 out of 5 stars Some of the best moments of a landmark series
"All in the Family" has been reviewed, re-reviewed, analyzed and re-analyzed till little anything original is left. Who cares? This series was a true revolutionary for its time and had the gonads enough to tackle real-life social issues and problems in real-life fashion, something that comedies then didn't do. This video, a compilation of highlights from the series, comes no where near capturing ALL the highlights of the program: you'd have to get cassettes of literally every episode to savor all those other highlights for which not enough time exists in this compilation. We do get the treat of some classics, like the historic kiss Sammy Davis Jr. plants on Archie while a camera captures it, "Meathhead" Michael's frustrating rantings to Archie about "Tricky Dick" and a then-bold episode where "Dingbat" Edith finds a lump in her breast. But some of the other highlights you won't see here are those showing Edith's evolution from passive to formidable wife, and her standing up with a strength the comes from unflappable conviction of her beliefs. We miss the powerfully devastating show where Edith escapes a sexual assault by decking her victimizer with her own birthday cake, nor do we see (or are we likely to as long as Norman Lear has his way) Archie's heartbreaking acceptance of his wife's death. Still, this compilation is a dandy and gives us just enough of an appetite to ask for more. In that respect, the late Carroll O'Connor, who pumped an amazing life into the character of Archie Bunker, and a cast of stellar other performers, has left us with an indelible and priceless legacy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Innovative, creative, topical and a one of a kind milestone!
In a television world sadly beset with mediocre programs aplenty, violence, endless, insipid talk shows and total insipidness, "All In The Family" dared to tackle sensitive issues with outstanding results. In a time when "its just talked about in polite company," it dared to be nonPC (Politically Correct). Not only did it stimulate endless debates and converations, but provided vehicles for spinoffs. Today in an climate of "eggshell"non-controversial world of television/movies, other media, in an effort not to offend, PC has watered down controversy to pablum. Save the insipid, sensationalized, endless parade of talk shows and expose shows, nothing is ventured. What a shame that this program cannot be resurected and hold again a mirror to American society.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great synopsis of the series as a whole
This video has loads of scenes from many different episodes of All in the Family; with emphasis on everything from Archie's prejudice to Edith's ever-present kindheartedness and innocence to Meathead's liberalism and Gloria's squeaky voice, with Norman Lear, the castmembers, and some fans/naysayers of the show interspersed in between. This trip down Memory Lane is well worth the money! The only thing that is not in the video is any appearance or mention of the little girl named "Stephanie" played by Danielle Brisbois. "Joey" does make a few appearances; when Archie "baptizes" him and when Gloria and Mike decide to "move out West" with Joey in tow and say their tearful goodbyes.

5-0 out of 5 stars All in the Family 20th Anniversary Special
Whatever I try to write about this show will not credit everyone involved enough to do the show justice but I will do my best. Everytime I see the repeated episodes on Nick at Nite I can remember watching those same repeated shows with my parents in the 80's when I was just a kid. The nostalgic feeling I get is unlike anything I have experienced watching television. The show strikes a nerve in all of us that can't occur watching any other TV program or movie in my opinion. Archie was brilliantly created by Norman Lear and directed as perfectly by Hal Cooper. Jean Stapleton may be one of the best actresses in entertainment history. Her ability to play a character like Edith had to take all her strength and talents because it was done perfectly. Rob Reiner's and Sally Struthers' characters will never be duplicated by any TV couple now and forever. The show's stories were the most powerful messages any sitcom has achieved and will never be achieved again. The rape episode when Edith overcame the situation could have won an emmy on its own for best actress. Another example of this with regard to Edith is when she stood up to Archie about her working at the senior citizen's center. Archie could have won emmies on single episodes many times over. The two we can never forget and must never ever forget is the Christmas episode with Mike's friend who was a draft dodger sharing the dinner table with not only Archie in Archie's house but Archie's friend who lost his son in the war. The performance put forth by Archie in this episode will never be duplicated by any actor in a sitcom again. The other stand out performance has to be the emotional roller-coaster we are put through when we find out Edith has passed on and see Archie express his sadness like no other actor will do more perfectly again on any tv show for the rest of eternity. Their are countless episodes that will never be recreated again. It is not because they are dated like I've seen some comments reflect it is because no one can perform at such a high level like the entire cast and crew did on this show for years. They made us laugh, cry, think, hope, question, philosophize, regret, love, hate, sympathize, and much much more. Most of all they left a mark on our lives like very few people in their position will ever do again throughout the course of our life while we and the entire population of the world are alive on this planet. In closing all I can say is: "THOSE WERE THE DAYS."

5-0 out of 5 stars Bunkers' Best Begets Buyer's Bravos!
How could this not be a great video? It depicts the greatest moments of the greatest comedy of all times. The range of emotions it elicits is incredible. All in the Family was the most innovative and contriversial television program in history, and the reasons for this are shown clearly in this video. Even today, in this supposedly enlightened age, the language and subject matter walk the tightrope of social acceptability. And, best of all, this all took place in Queens- the home of the Amazin' Mets! ... Read more

Could this be the beginning of a kinder, gentler Pok&eacute;mon? Ratherthan the usual battles of the pocket monsters between Ash and the sordid Team Rocket, a love story of sorts has descended upon Viridian City in this latest trio of adventures from the popular television series. In the first episode, it's "Lights, Camera, Quack-tion" when a famous movie director, Mister Spielbunk, shows up to shoot a movie about two love-struckPok&eacute;mon. As Misty, Ash, and Brock dream of stardom, the question remains,"Which Pok&eacute;mon will get the starring role?" Will it be brain-impairedPsyduck or the mighty Meowth? This cliffhanger continues in the second episode,"Go West, Young Meowth," when it's off to Hollywood for our favoritePok&eacute;mon feline. We discover that years prior, Meowth lived, and loved, in Tinseltown; now we find out who stole his heart, and how he joined Team Rocket. Meowth's tale of love is bittersweet, "like a cheap chocolate bar," he cries. Things get even richer in the final segment, "To Master the Onixpected" when Ash learns the real secret of Pok&eacute;mon after spendingtime with Bruno, an Elite Four Pok&eacute;mon master. Rumor has it that tobecome the biggest, baddest Pok&eacute;mon trainer, one must defeat the ominousOnix. Ash learns the truth of the Pok&eacute;mon power, which has more to dowith kindness than bravado. Though there are still moments of derring-do, thismay be the gentlest of Pok&eacute;mon flicks, and a good choice for theuninitiated viewer. This one is one my favorite pokemon episodes, it's a funny satire look at hollywood and romance movies in general, Meowth always had bad luck from day one, a street Cat gets a second chance when he moves to tinsletown and joins a rouge group of street Meowths and one Persian, and then trys to win the heart of a lady Meowth - He fails - so years later when Team Rocket shows up to the movie premere (See "Lights Camera Quacktion" for the complete story) and he runs amok of the old gang and learns that his love of his life got dumped by the owner then joined the gang, he trys to bail her out but they gang up on him before they do Jessie and James save him (and what has to be the funnist intro ever) then the Meowth and the Persian do battle and Meowth trimuphs! - but the lady Meowth says he's still a freak) it's cold but funny, the first is a buildup into this one (kinda) Ash and Co. run into a movie crew filming a Romeo and Juilet style movie with pokemon instead, but the Abra left the set because of the Pushy/Demanding Wigglytuff so they have to find the next star, Pikachu, Raichu, Meowth, Vulpix, Hitmonlee, Koffing, Arbok and Psyduck try out for the role, Wigglytuff does away with most of them with a mean doubleslap but she finds love in the Psyduck, so they do the story with Psyduck but Team Rocket wants to get back at the movie director (A Spinoff name of Steven Spilberg) so thus begins a pointless fight where Psyduck saves the day with his powerful Confusion so thats that then its done, it runs into the next episode where they get invited to the premere, Brock seemed to like the director's movie "I saw What You Ate Last Tuesday" (hahahaha). The last is also worth it as well, Ash and Co. run into Bruno where they learn that the serect of training comes from within your mind body and soul, so they train with him, but they don't get his "lessons" but Brock says focused until he [gets] into next week, but then they found out that hes not up there to train, he's up there to catch and tame the biggest Onix to there is (Must be Lvl 100), Team Rocket trys out but with no avail they get trapped then Misty, Brock and Ash try to catch it Onix, Sqritle and Staryu try out but make it even more [upset], then the Onix eventully smacks Team Rocket into the next episode, but the Onix turns its anger on Ash but when it trys to kill him bruno saves him, so Bruno try to catch it - Himself - so when he confronts it, it trys to attack him but he keeps asking him "Why?" and all that, so he deeks it out and it hurts itself, Bruno talks it (and feels it) when he FINDS a Sandslash stuck in his back so explains its anger then Bruno catches this MONSTER of a pokemon with a pokeball (Ultraballs anyone?) then tells the moral of raising pokemon wishes him luck then its off to the pokemon leaugue (Or so he thinks).

Overall this one is a definte buy good episodes and good comedy parts as well, check it out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meowth!
Wow! Meowth has a fasinating history! It's touching and genuine (for Poke`Mon). Everything seems to make more sense after watching "Go West, Young Meowth." In the words of Meowth, "My story is a bittersweet one, like a cheap chocolate bar." 5 stars, Meowth!

4-0 out of 5 stars Yet another Pokemon video...
If you've ever bought a Pokemon video, you know what's in store here, three episodes from the TV series. These episodes were pretty good, but weren't as action filled as other eps. In the first episode, "Lights, Camera, Quacktion", the gang runs into movie producer Sven Spigelburg who needs a Pokemon for a co-starring role along side his star, Wigglytuff, in the movie, "Pokemon In Love". However, the only Pokemon that Wigglytuff gets along with is Psyduck! Next comes "Go West, Young Meowth". This is one of the rare episodes that focus almost entirely on Team Rocket! They follow Ash and company to Hollywood to the premier of Pokemon In Love. Along the way, Meowth tells the story of how he learned to talk like a human! Finally, in "To Expect The Onix-Pected!", our heroes run into a rampaging Onix as well as Elite Member Bruno, who teaches Ash that the real secret to understanding Pokemon lies within. All and all, this is a good buy, especially if you're looking for Pokemon episodes that don't have a battle every five minutes! ;)

5-0 out of 5 stars these episodes are soooooooooooo cool!
This video is so cool i give it five stars!

4-0 out of 5 stars Onix, Movies, and Hollywood
The Stars are Born! A famous director is making a Pokemon movie, but who's going to be the star? Can Psyduck get top bill-ing? Then, it's off to Hollywood for the big premiere, but Meowth's been there before! See the long-awaited origin of Meowth, and find out why it can speak! Plus, Bruno is one of the Elite Four and an expert in ground Pokemon, but can even he stop a rampaging Onix? ... Read more

The insatiable quest to catch 'em all winds its way down to the coast--Seafoam Island, in specific--on Hang Ten, Pikachu. In "The Evolution Solution," the first of this video's three episodes, Ash takes a breather from Pok&eacute;mon League training to tackle a mystery that only the island-based Professor Westwood&nbsp;V, creator of the Pok&eacute;dex, can solve: Why does the dopey Shelder latch onto the equally dopey Slowpoke's tail, creating the Slowbro? Episode&nbsp;2, "The Pi-Kahuna," pits Ash plus Pikachu and Puka, a curve-shooting, tube-riding new friend's fellow pet Pikachu, against Humunga Dunga, a gigantic rogue wave that hits the island every 20&nbsp;years, and "Make Room for Gloom," the third episode, tracks the troop of Ash, Brock, and Misty back in town, where they bolster the dragging spirits of a diffident greenhouse operator on the brink of bankruptcy and, in the process, help blast off the terrible Team Rocket again. The first two segments' altered scenery--the shore setting--effectively shuttles fans off on a good-time Pok&eacute;mon getaway; it's the equivalent of vicariously vacationing in Hawaii with the Bradys for parents. As usual, the dialogue escapes flatness--each character is exceptionally well drawn, and most are believable--and never condescends. Also, all three stories chug along at a pace that sits right with the skimpy attention-spanned. This video is only the latest in a miles-long testament to why this craze-generating series continues to keep kids watching--every "to be continued" closer seems to guarantee that more quick-witted, adventure-crammed cartoons are on the way. --Tammy La&nbsp;Gorce ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable series but too expensive
Pokémon is the story about Ash Ketchum and his friends, Misty Williams and Brock Harrison. Ash's goal is to become a Pokémon Master. Misty's goal is to be "the best at everything" but, more specifically, a Water Pokémon Master. Brock's goal is to be the world's best Pokémon breeder. Pokémon are the animals that inhabit their world. They come in many different species (mouse, cat, dog, etc.) and types (electric, grass, water, fire, etc.). Each Pokémon trainer trains his or her Pokémon to battle other Pokémon and win badges to compete in Pokémon Leagues. Ash, Misty, and Brock must deal with Jessie, James, and Meowth of the evil Team Rocket, who want to steal Ash's first Pokémon, Pikachu, and usually other Pokémon as well. This Japanese animation series is an advertisement for the Pokémon video games, and the episodes' plots are usually simple, but this is actually an enjoyable series. Common themes are friendship, not giving up, parting ways with a dear friend, and other good morals. Parents and guardians that are concerned about the violence need not worry. Yes, the kids have their pets fight each other, but they also must learn to take care of and love their pets. Girls will find a strong female role model in Misty. Overall, this is a fun, simple, warm-hearted, rather repetitive series. However, despite how much I like the anime, the DVDs are not worth your money. Each episode is probably less than twenty minutes long, and there are only three episodes on each DVD. You would be paying the price of this DVD for around one hour of Pokémon. That's ridiculous. They don't even include the Japanese vocal tracks with English subtitles or the fun music videos from the TV airings. You can rent these same English-dubbed episodes on VHS. If you really want this series on DVD, my advice to you is to buy the movies and the special, "Mewtwo Returns", and wait for box sets of the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars These episodes are excellent!
All this three episodes are excellent, especially the Slowpoke one, it's the funniest and most entertaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars Slowpoke and Slowbro: The Evolution Between
Ash, Misty and Brock go to the seaside to find out the Pokemon secret: What it is that makes a Slowpoke evolve into a Slowbro? Then, Ash's training takes him to the beaches where he and Pikachu meet a surfer dude and a surfer Pikachu! Then, Ash and his friends help a struggling greenhouse beat bankruptcy and beat team rocket at the same time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Other for my collection, Ain't gettin' worse

5-0 out of 5 stars absolution
One of cinema history's most tragic examples of a filmmaker who never lived up to his promise, Yanagimachi's "Himatsuri" is a burning, haunting experience. Combining obscure imagery and Shinto references along with odd, bold leaps in tone the director crafts a singular and astounding work illuminating the disasterous results of man's severing his ties with nature. Taking a true life inexplicable murder/suicide in a remote Japanese fishing community as its platform, Yanamiguchi creates a fusion of image, sound and montage (coupled with Toru Takemitsu's chillingly primal score) that shows a real mastery of film form. But "Himatsuri" is not just form without content: beneath it all lies a message that is still very relevant as society progresses forward towards its digital future. A bonified masterpiece, there's never been anything quite like it. ... Read more

Description

Reminiscent of Jean Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast, this intriguing gothic romance marked the directorial debut of Terence Young (From Russia with Love; Dr.No; Mayerling, 1968).Corridor of Mirrors begins in post-World War I Italy, where an artist becomes obsessed with a woman in a Renaissance-era painting.Imagining himself to be the reincarnation of her lover, the wealthy eccentric returns to London to make over his mansion in 16th-century Venetian fashion and search for his lady's modern counterpart.Impressed by his charms, a young British beauty is eager to play the part, even dress in period costume. The fantasy unravels, however, as the darkness of the artist's vision is revealed.Like Cocteau before him, Young treats viewers to a dream world created with lavish sets, exquisite cinematography, and the mesmerizing music of Georges Auric. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Haunting
The plot itself is somewhat flimsy, but is made up for by Eric Portman's unique and haunting style. The set is incredible. There is only one flaw: Edana Romney couldn't act if her life depended on it. Don't watch her and it's a terrific film.

5-0 out of 5 stars haunting, unforgettable
When television first came to my tiny town in north carolina in l950, this was the movie that they played repeatedly. It was shown at least once a day, usually at night for nearly two years. Why, I don't know, but it certainly branded itself into my mind. Well, I saw it again last night for the first time in 50 years. The result: still as haunting as ever with magnificent lighting, camerawork and an unforgettable performance by the gorgeous Edna Romney, the strange heroine who becomes involved with a mysterious and sinister London gentleman. She visits his eerie mansion where he has recreated a vanished era, filled with a corridor filled with mirrors and bizarre secrets. Edana is a unique beauty who had only made two movies before this: "The Strangler" in l940 and "Alibi" in l942. She also co-wrote the screenplay. Although she looks Italian, the striking brunette came from South Africa. We can only wonder what happened to her since there is no mention anywhere of her doing anything else after "Corridor." You may want to "lighten" up your screen since my video was often so dark I could barely see who doing what to whom. This may remind you of "Last Year at Marienbad" and "Hiroshima, Mon Amour" because of its strong arthouse ambiance. A must-see for anyone who wants to see what London was doing in terms of film right after the war.

5-0 out of 5 stars Haunting Swing From Modern Day To Renaissance Romance
Eric Portman, a man possessed with the past is intrigued by a bruentte of classical beauty who fits the part perfectly in his "Corridor of Mirrors". It is a corridor any drag queen would die for. This beautiful black and white film has suspense, romance and an exceptional movie score to complement. Wait until you hear that glorious voice of Eric Portman who should have been as popular to the American public as James Mason. Should you agree with my review seek out other films by this excellent British actor. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the better episodes.
This was a great treat. Morticia Joins the Ladies League is more primarily about Morticia and just great fun. Fester's Puntured Romance is pretty funny too. Especially if you are a Fester fan and want an episode that goes further into his character. A great addition to any VHS or Addams Family collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best I've seen yet
These two TV shows were livelier and funnier than the previous ones I've bought; perhaps the series got better over time. I expected the show about a gorilla visiting the family ("Morticia Joins the Ladies' League") to be pretty hokey, but it was funny. "Fester's Punctured Romance" was great too. I love it when different characters (Addams and non-Addams) have a conversation in which they both completely misunderstand each other. It's the kind of running joke just gets funnier as it continues and snowballs. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fine adaptation of an SF classic
This sequel to the mini-series "Dune" combines action from Frank Herbert's novels "Dune Messiah" and "Children of Dune." Paul Muad'Dib (Alec Newman) has taken control of Arrakis, but all does not go as planned. He has become the figurehead for a violent revolution that is spreading across star systems, various conspirators are gathering against him, and the greening of Dune is playing havoc with the traditional Fremen way of life. His children, Leto (James McAvoy) and Ghanima (Jessica Brooks), are destined to play pivotal roles in the complicated machinations for control of Dune and its spice.

This is a handsome production with mostly impressive special effects. The acting tends to be rather wooden, as a great deal of dialogue is given over to exposition about the various complex maneuverings that are ongoing throughout the story. However, if you enjoy complicated stories full of scheming and strategizing among the powerful, as well as an impressive, fully realized alien milieu, you should find something to enjoy here.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Saga of Dune is far from over.....I hope
"History is written on the sands of Arakkis..."

So begins the tale of one of the most epic mini-series ever produced;and rarely have truer words ever been spoken.Based on Frank Herbert's second and third books in his Dune saga,Children of Dune is a breathtaking look into the mind of a genius. The science-fiction equivalent of Tolkien,Herbert has brought to life a universe unlike any other, that, without fail, sucks you into it in a maelstrom of love, lineage, and legacy. And much to the surprise and awe of a Dune junkie like myself, director Greg Yaitanes not only manages to do Herbert justice with this small screen outing, but manages to do him proud as well.

With awesome special effects(check out the worms!!),perfect casting, mindblowing cinematography, and the greatest soundtrack I have ever had the privilege of hearing, the Children of Dune mini-series is the ultimate science-fiction saga of our time.Arakkis is as real, raw, and powerful as any Shire,Hogwarts,or galaxy far,far away.

Step inside a world of political intrigue, action, and drama.Bear witness to the triumphs of men as well as his tragedies.Behold the Fremen at his best, and also at his worst. And watch as life is born, ended, and given meaning in a beautiful epic that is,in the best and only way to describe it,undying.

Step inside the majesty of Children of Dune.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dune Messiah and Children done RIGHT!
When I rented and watched the first Dune miniseries, I was shocked at how poor a job had been done. True, the story was kept pretty much intact, but the costumes were horrible, the acting wasn't credible, and the sets were even less credible. Most of the time, you could easily tell that the backdrop was a wall painted to look like dunes and mountains. This time, however, the makers got it right. First, everybody who returns for this second mini-series must have gotten acting lesson in between the two. I was shocked at how good some of the performances were (Paul and Irulan for example). Second, some of the special effects are truly impressive. Throughout most of the miniseries, I could believe that this was a very respectable theatrical release- I love Alia's "fight" scene. Also, the music this time around is unbelievable. I don't think it would be an exaggeration at all to say that this is the score that should have won best soundtrack at the most recent Academy awards.

Many people display disappointment over how some plot points were changed or ommitted. However, in my eyes, the miniseries accomplished the highest note that I think it possibly could have reached: it REALLY made me want to read the books again.

I also think that the miniseries accomplished something that the books did not. I think it added more emotion to the characters and made it easier for viewers to empathize with them. I can return to the books, perhaps, with a better idea of what the characters are going through.

Overall, a very commendable effort- not to be missed by any Dune fans (unlike the miserable first mini-series)

The saga of Dune is far from over.....well, let's hope so- on to God Emperor!

2-0 out of 5 stars Read the book
I bought this DVD recently, after a 20-year lapse since I last read the Dune books. With only a vague memory of what was supposed to be going on, the movie was pretty much incomprehensible.

What was the reason for Leto II transforming himself into a sandworm? I don't remember, and the movie didn't explain. Somehow, this was supposed to be the next evolutionary step, or some such thing, but why? And why did Leto seem so confident and at peace with his decision, when later we find out that he sobbed in his sister's lap and asked her to help him die?

A lot of the acting is truly dreadful, and seems more appropriate to a stage play than a movie. Many of the costumes look like they came from old the original Star Trek series. And many of the sets were obviously just that ... sets with painted backgrounds.

As with the other adaptations of Dune books, too much had to be left out in the interest of time, and if you aren't very familiar with the story, you can easily be left scratching your head.

5-0 out of 5 stars Considering it's a TV production, a great effort.
John Harrison wrote the script for this , as he did for the first Dune series. I think some are being too hard on this installment(double). It's the best sci-fi TV to come about in a very long time. The acting for the most part was a great surprise. There's some real talent here. Daniela Amavia's Alia puts most disturbed bombshell ladies in horror films to shame. It's true it's more of a petty political soap opera but that's how the sequel novels also seemed. Like another reviewer said, a knockout scene was where Duncan Idaho had to face the moment of truth and a lot of principle characters get killed off, a la Godfather. The scene captured the moment in story in just about the best way possible. The "wierding" effects like the first Dune are a rush, but the directors wisely use it sparingly and go for build up to dramatic highpoints just as Herbert's books do. Considering the recent sci-fi in the movies, this new director hopefully will get to the big screen sometime. ... Read more

Amazon.com essential video

Audrey Hepburn's last Oscar nomination was for this adaptation of Frederick Knott's famed stage thriller about a blind woman, a con man (Alan Arkin), and a doll full of heroin. Thanks to Hepburn's husband, a photographer who does a good deal of traveling, she's unknowingly come into possession of said doll, which was given to him on a plane by a comely young drug runner who winds up dead. The murderous Arkin, aided by sympathetic henchman Richard Crenna, will let nothing stand in the way of his obtaining it, even if it comes down to assaying multiple "personalities" in order to visit and terrorize Hepburn; Crenna is unwillingly enlisted to help. However, the "world's champion blind lady" (as Hepburn sardonically states) is more than up to the task of defending herself in her basement Manhattan apartment in a heart-stopping climax that to this day still defines the way horror movies with jack-in-the-box psychos are made. Despite the obvious staginess of it all (the entire action takes place in Hepburn's apartment), it still works magnificently, thanks to Hepburn's steely will and Arkin's deadly, sadistic madman. A helpful hint: turn out all the lights when you watch it; theaters back in 1967 did so, killing the guiding lights during the film's last 15 minutes. We can't tell you why, but trust us, it's worth it. --Mark Englehart ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Spine-Tingling Thriller
I was extremely impressed with this movie. As I am a blind individual myself, I truly appreciated that this was not one of those ridiculous movies which dealt specifically with how blind people function in the world, but instead presented a realistic portrait of a woman fighting to survive.
Audrey Hepburn realistically portrays Susie Hendrix, a woman who has recently lost her sight due to a car accident. She still struggles to adjust to her new lifestyle with the help of her husband Sam. My only complaint of the movie is Sam's often harsh treatment of his wife. I realize that it necessary, but considering that this was a recent loss of eyesight, he possibly could have been more patient.
The main premise of this film concerns a villainous drug dealer, Harry Rote (portrayed by Alan Arkin.)
Alan Arkin is superb in his role. He is the most effective villain I have ever seen portrayed. Rote enlists the help of two recently released conmen to retrieve a heroin-filled doll from Susie's home, where it accidentially was taken by Sam. The ensuing struggle is between Susie and the three men, who attempt to deceive her in to handing over the doll. The climax of this film is extremely suspenseful and scary. Another quick note: Julie Herrod, who portrays Gloria, a young girl who assists Susie is extremely good.
This film is truly worth your time, not only because it is suspenseful, but because it tells of the importance of overcoming obstacles in order to help yourself and others around you.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites
A drug dealer enlists two conmen to help him retrieve a drug-filled doll from a blind woman.

Audrey Hepburn is very credible as the lovely Susie Hendrix, a feminine and insightful lady who has recently lost her eyesight in an accident. Efrem Zimbalist Jr. plays her rigid but compassionate husband; one of his emotional reactions is my only problem with the movie, and even that can be overlooked. Julie Herrod is the bratty but fairly well drawn Gloria, and Richard Crenna and Jack Weston play the two conmen. Jack Weston's character is the simpler of the two, and Richard Crenna is the dishonest but convincingly charming. The intelligent Harry Roat (or however you spell it) is played by Alan Arkin. Roat is just creepy. He gives bad vibes.

'Wait Until Dark' is one of my favorite films. The mood, supported by music, excellent acting, and an interesting plot, remains tense throughout the movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly Terrifying!
Based on Frederick Knott's Broadway hit, Wait Until Dark is a chilling film, even by today's standards. This is a masterfully crafted thriller about three deranged crooks who manipulate a blind woman to recover their lost smuggled goods.

Audrey Hepburn is fantastic as Suzy, in her Oscar nominated role, showing us a fairly realistic portrait of a fragile woman coping with her dark new world. She manages to garner our sympathy, especially with Efrem Zimbalist Jr's demanding husband watching her every move.

Alan Arkin is equally terrific, making a terrifying villain.

Wait Until Dark manages to create a paranoid environment devoid of any human life. The apartment building Suzy lives in is perpetually empty; Suzy's husband, Sam, leaves her on her own for most of the day, and the dorky young girl upstairs is apparently motherless most of the time. The cave-like arches of the apartment has an unsettling effect of positioning Hepburn in a nondescript underground (the windows only look out on the feet of passersby, emphasizing Suzy's disconnect from her neighborhood). It all creeps up on the audience, making for a suspenseful, claustrophobic and effective shocker. I literally could not breathe during the film's final ten minutes.

Definitely wait until dark and watch it with someone who likes to scream. This is a true nail-biter if there ever was one.

5-0 out of 5 stars "The blinds moving up and down. . . the squeaking shoes. . .
...and then the knife whistling past her ear. . . "

At the ripe old age of 38, Audrey Hepburn proved that she had aged like fine wine in Terrence Young's "Wait Until Dark", for which she earned her fifth, and last, Oscar nomination. Despite obviously being based on the long-running Broadway play; as the majority of the story takes place in an apartment and there are few characters; it translates surprisingly well onto screen and is remarkably intriguing and suspenseful. Alan Arkin, who plays one of the vilest villains of 60's cinema, Richard Crenna, and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. make up the stellar supporting cast and all turn in excellent performances.

The sheer terror "Wait Until Dark" inflicts upon its audience comes from the filmmakers ability to place us in Suzy's shoes. The very idea of being blind and trapped in an apartment and horribly alone even though you are in one of the most densely populated areas of the world, just plains scares me. The nail-biting climax has some truly classic moments in it (who knew Alan Arkin was such a gymnast?) and will stick with you long after the film is over.

As always, Audrey is simply perfection. Charming and beautiful even in the most unflattering situations, she yet again proves her star power. The constant distress and anguish Audrey portrays onscreen is achingly real, and unfortunately, not very far from the truth. She was suffering from anorexia and marriage troubles with the producer of the film, Mel Ferrer, throughout the entire shoot. One can only imagine how draining it must have been for her to be required to be screaming and crying the whole shoot while dealing with these problems. Her Oscar nomination was most certainly deserved!

5-0 out of 5 stars WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT
Few actresses have lit up the screen in the same fashion as the late Audrey Hepburn. In this 1967 thriller (her last Oscar nomination), she plays a blind woman who finds herself terrorized by a trio of men looking for a heroin-stuffed doll.
Relying on pure psychological suspense as opposed to gore and violence, WAIT UNTIL DARK is still a powerful movie. Miss Hepburn is perfect for the role---she seems so frail, and yet there is an inner strength that comes to her aid in the final moments of the film. She lost the Oscar that year to another Hepburn (Katherine in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner"), and it just goes to show how Oscar at times relies more on sentimentality than the actual power of a performance.
Richard Crenna eschewed his good guy roles by playing Mike Talman, one of the cons who does appreciate Suzie's intelligence. Jack Weston, a great comic actor, also goes for more visceral drama, and his performance as the buffoon is right on target. And what about Mr. Alan Arkin? His cold, insensitive evil is just right!!! Little Julie Herrod as Gloria also does a credible job.
Terence Young's direction is tight and Henry Mancini's impeccable music also heightens the suspense.
WAIT UNTIL DARK is a classic thriller, and one of Miss Hepburn's finest moments. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Twilight of the Cockroaches more than just a strange name.
A compelling story of two roach colonies that are in opposite extremes of existance. One colony that lives in a single guy's apartment and the other in the apartment of a single woman. It echoes a tale of two cities. One nirvana, the other a constant battle for survival. The animation is simply like no other. If you don't like roaches you will love this movie. It has a compelling story as the two colonies face extinction. A must have for any animation collection. Simply a classic.

I Liked this anime for the problems they faced( getting exterminated) And it had an a great love triangle thing going between the main character(a female cockroach), a warrior Roach, and a normal guy roach. I though the ending was a bit sad though...

5-0 out of 5 stars Slow, but powerful
This is not your typical anime by any means. In fact, it is strictly speaking not even pure anime, but a combination of anime and live action. It concerns a colony of cockroaches living in a bachelors apartment, seemingly in peace with the owner, until he aquires a girlfriend, and with her guidance sets out to wipe them out. Yes, it is very slow, but the pace is deliberate, designed to aquaint us with the atmosphere of the roach settlers and introduce individual characters. I strongly suggest you watch it beginning to end - it is surprisingly powerful, and transcends its somewhat hokey premise to become one of the saddest animes i've ever seen.

1-0 out of 5 stars One of the most boring animes in a LONG time
The plot in this movie was exceptionally boring. It moved extremely slow, and kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time (literally, I was about to fall asleep and fall off my chair). I can not recomend this one to anyone ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Yuzna and Combs return with a vengeance
For fans of the Re-Animator series (and there are many) the wait is finally over. 13 years after directing Bride of Re-Animator Brian Yuzna returns with another satisfying sequel. Beyond Re-Animator opens with an interesting 10-minute prologue that shows one of Herbert West's re-animated corpses getting loose and killing a teenage girl in the suburbs. This sequel is set 13 years after those events where West is now in jail serving a sentence for conspiracy to commit murder. A young doctor by the name of Howard becomes infatuated with West's work and wants to assist him to further his research which attempts to explain rational behaviour.

I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of this sequel especially considering the many negative reviews I read of this film. Yes this was filmed in Spain on a limited budget and none of the same actors (except for Jeffrey Combs) return but what should we expect? 13 years had gone by since the last entry. As long as Combs returns this series will do just fine. He's great here as usual, in his trademark subdued style. I marvel at his ability to play a role of someone who is stone-faced and dead serious but at the same time funny as hell. Combs is surrounded by many other interesting characters including the young doctor, a pretty reporter and the requisite sadistic prison warden although none of them do nearly as good an acting job as he does.

Despite the lower budget he had to work with, Yuzna managed to make this film look very stylish (similarly to Stuart Gordon's Dagon). Almost the entire movie takes place inside of a prison, lending the film a claustrophobic feel. The last half hour is very fast paced and chaotic for as usual West's experiments go horribly wrong. Re-Animated corpses are everywhere, inmates break loose of their cells as prison guards try to fight them off, the whole jail becomes a riot act. Brian Yuzna certainly went all out with this finale. This was a great film that is injected with all the right doses of gore, mayhem and humour that have been trademarks of the series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dr. West creates zombies in prison.
Finally for all you Re-Animator (1985) fans, a third film has been made. Filmed in Spain. The second film was BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR (1990). Jeffery Combs is back as "Herbert West". Two boys are camping out in the yard. Suddenly Howard (Tommy Dean Musset) tells the other boy a story about someone keeping body parts. He shows him an eye in a cup. Lighning and thunder materialize. The mother (Barbara Elorrietta) in the house is killed by a jawless zombie (Angel Plana) as Howard watches in horror. The zombie was another one of Dr. West's experiments, so Dr. West is arrested and put into the police car. But before he leaves, the vital green luminous shot is left for the boy. Thirteen years later, Howard (Jason Berry) is now a doctor and visit Dr. West in prison. Dr. West still conducts his electrical shock experiments, but this time on rats. When Howard shows Dr. West, the luminous shot he left behind thirteen years ago, he can't wait to see if the luminous serum still works. Of course it does and so the campy zombie fun begins again. Lolo Herrero plays "Sergeant Moncho". Enrique Arce plays "Cabrera". Simon Andreu plays "Warden". DVD includes an "Easter Egg". Click your down button on the remote. When "Lions Gate Films" logo appears, click on this. You will see trailers for Beyond Re-Animator (2003), Cabin Fever, and Faust--Love of the Damned. Extra include "Move Your Dead Bones" music video. Making of Re-Animator documentary.

5-0 out of 5 stars Forget the other reviews!
Those guys don't know what they're talking about.
While you certainly need to see The Re-Animator as a set-up, Beyond the Re-Animator is better than the original movie could hope to be. It starts out slow, and some acting is indeed flat, but what better setting for total chaos and over-the-top mayhem than a prison?
While as a standalone movie, it probably merits only a couple of stars, "Beyond" isn't targeted towards a generic audience, and such a rating would be inappropriate. This campy horror flick is about as close to perfect as you can get for its intended audience, who can take the stylized violence and gore with a dark sense of humor.
Highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Movie some major holes....
This movie had a very captivating plot and was overall a pleasure to view, however in the plot there were some pretty major holes and some of the acting was downright dreadful.
The plot is simple. A new doctor comes to work at the hospital where Dr. West is incarcerated. Howard the new doctor, and probably a new actor because his acting was downright dreadful and at times painful to watch (His reaction after the girl that he likes dies is just so fake); Dr. West and Howard then set up the lab again and chaos and misfortune ensues.
The gore is good. The reasons for the gore are not always good however. For example when Laura visits the one ressurected patient she walks up close and what not, knowing that he is dangerous. It just didn't make any sense. Another funny thing was that the nurse wore the old fashioned skirt, the kind you could rip off with a strong pull. Right...
However the violence was good and entertaining. The movie got straight to the point and never got off. From the very beginning there was murder, mayhem and chaos.
Recommended to all those that are not too worried about plot holes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid Third Entry in the Series
The first Re-animator is a classic. One of the best horror movies ever made. Period. THE best H.P. Lovecraft adaption. The sequel, Bride of Re-animator, is regarded as not very good, even cheesey. For me I think it's alright. This newer third in the Re-animator series is getting a reputation. I rate it easily better than Bride of Re-animator but not as good as the first. Herbert West has been incarcerated for the past 14 years for the Miskatonic University massacre. He gets out and continues his work on reviving the dead through a serum. What makes this film good is the modern look of it. It looks like it was made in the millenium (aka the year 2000 AD or after). Jeffry Combs is always a good genre actor. Also check out his work in Lurking Fear and Castle Freak. Another staple of Re-animator is the T & A. There are two hot chicks that bare their (...) in this neat flick. The special effects, barring a battery-operated toy-looking rat (possibly intentional) are convincing enough. The gore is extreme and over the top. Horror in this day and age are forgettable, trendy and over the top gorefests. What distinguishes this from say, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake is that this has a (dark) sense of humor and didn't lose too many fans of "film blasphemy." A remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre is film blasphemy. Hell, the Texas film before that with Leatherface in drag was better than the remake. However, I don't think too many diehard H.P. Lovecraft adaption and diehards who are a fan of the Re-animator series would mind another in the series, even morso to make up for the second's shortcomings. I am even looking forward to a possible fourth entry in the series. I am such a big fan of this movie I have a legitimate poster of it in my bedroom. I was so sure I would like this movie I actually bought and hung the poster before I saw the movie. Herbert West is one of the greatest horror movie villains of all time. ... Read more
